I love how far WWX leans into his Evil Yiling Laozu role in this arc. #Better yet he invites LWJ over and is so unapologetic about it. It really does feel like a 'damn you live like this?" moment. #I think there are two kinds of friends in this world; #those that see your blood pit cave and say nothing and those that tell you they'll come by tomorrow to help you clean up. #ISAT thought time: I know Loop hangs out under a nice big tree 99% of the time but lets be honest; #If there was a evil bloody cave in the vicinity - that is 100% where they would ask Siffrin to meet them in. #Loop sends texts to their stardust with Ominous black images and says 'Go here. Into the dark.' #That or highly specific IP addresses that are right over sinkholes. Or in graveyards. #Point is; I think Loop and the Yiling Laozu would thrive in each other's aesthetics.

While contemplating what a feat it will be to pare down all my favorite Changkyun musical moments in his eventual full (rap + vocal) compilation, I decided to console myself with a separate post dedicated to his vocal (melodic) introductions in songs. In other words, any time he is the first main voice heard, and he is singing rather than rapping. To the best of my knowledge, this is every MX song that met those parameters to me. I didn’t expect it to be 19 songs, and I didn’t expect this to be over 6 minutes long (although I did consciously make the choice to include the entire instrumental beginnings).

I will save the full ramble rant reflection for that future, full compilation, but I just have to say here (as if it is not obvious every time the #wings bari agenda possesses my keyboard) that I LOVE his vocal timbre. His is actually the voice in mx most likely and with little effort to make me want to swallow a bucket of glass or eat a wall. Changkyun may not be a “main vocalist” by the kpop genre’s standards and preferences, but he is my beloved gentle baritone, he is irreplaceable, he is one of a kind.

(No one asked, but my absolute favorites from this list are Beautiful Liar, all the ones from Shape of Love, If with U, One Day... Blow Your Mind... ok it's hard to pick favorites beyond that because I love them all.)

the environment on there is so fascinating to me because somehow if you call him the second best vocalist seunghan's fans aren't supposed to be upset or call bullshit but if you call seunghan the second best vocalist it's automatically deemed wonbin slander. and the environment is so bad that you even have non-wonbin akgaes who seem to believe in this alleged vocal hierarchy rather than try to interrogate the reasoning behind it. i know the hiatus definitely exacerbates tensions and frankly there are a lot of seunghan fans who act absolutely crazy but it's frustrating even trying to navigate a single genuine conversation about their skills as vocalists because you're overwhelmingly shut down by people who think the group has actually sung live for a majority of their career. i was trying to talk to someone yesterday about how honestly is insanely overprocessed and not a good reflection of what their voices actually sound like live and they eventually resorted to sharing links of studio recording sessions with me as if it was a testament to their ability to sing live on the spot in one take while performing choreo.. the level of cope is just insane and it's frustrating because i like them a lot as a group and they're clearly all greedy to improve on their vocals but it's worth acknowledging the company holds them back by coddling them a lot. even at their fancon today they weren't singing every song live and that's insane when they don't even have ten songs of their own to sing. it's overall really jarring to engage with as someone who's been following groups like shinee and snsd for years like sue me for wanting to listen to singers who actually sing djsklfjsgddsgf

i had the best of luck last week because i got a little life ticket for a pretty decent price and it was the last seat of the show. suffice to say after i came out of the theatre i have not been able to think of anything else. my brain chemistry. forever altered now. anyways currently im trying to find tickets again because my friends want to see (they are aware of the contents of the show) but almost all the shows are sold out and if theyre not, we arent here by those days. not to mention the tickets. its crazy
