i am SO curious about what horrors saffron went through-- the post you made abt your first and most recent drawing of him is so intriguing esp bc i keep seeing the progression on my timeline

(idk if you've already talked about saffron's story, so sorry if you have! and no worries about answering if it's a personal oc story you dont want to share beyond what you already have with your art!)

Oh I can go ahead and share no problem!

Back when we first started the campaign, Saffron was an archfey warlock under Titania of the summer court which is why his powers were so nature oriented. He was also a joke character who followed the “flirty asshole tiefling” archtype which lasted like 1 and a half sessions. Most of his plot in the 1st and 2nd arc was him realizing and struggling through the abuse Titania put on him, ESPECIALLY in arc 2 where she started fucking with his magic. On top of this we have the party dynamic- almost constantly falling apart and getting into disagreements once we hit end of the 1st arc. During that he was also being forced by Titania to collect info on the magic users to use against them. Finally there’s Klaus- an Owlin barbarian who Saffron feels extremely close to who kept throwing himself in danger, often times for Saffron’s sake, and refusing Saffron’s claims that he wasn’t a monster and to stop. All together a fairly rough time.

What started the spore bit was a deal he made with a nothic, who agreed to give him info on his past (he’s got amnesia due to the unknown amount of time in he spent in the feywild) in exchange for some of his magic. It almost killed him but he made it, got some fairly useless info and a black streak in his hair. Later the next day he had a lovely encounter with Titania which resulted in him getting his magic snatched for a bit and revealed their dynamic to the rest of the party (I’ve been posting this sketch from that scene a lot but I don’t think I ever put an explanation around it)

Cut forward to last session. Saffron had talked to the Mother of Rot earlier when he had accidentally caused a tree to rot, and Klaus had attacked a fellow party member due to hallucinations. I failed a wisdom saving throw and got Saffron locked in a partially Titania-induced mindset and he was headed out to talk to her, saw Klaus, and they got into quite possibly the worst argument anyone in the party has had yet. Failed another wisdom saving throw and Saffron attacked him. Titania ended the fight by burning Klaus’ back off and Klaus subsequently stabbing her, Saffron snapped out of the mindset and used his silly little rot powers to keep her from healing. Their connection was severed and the contract was broken.

To sum it up- he’s lost all his previous powers aka the thing that Titania did to remind him he’s useless without them, he’s lost the 2 people he’s every loved romantically (Titania’s hunting him for sport, Klaus hates his guts and is romancing another Owlin), his memories are starting to come back in the worst ways, he’s despised by 3/4ths of the team, one of his major character points is his fear of death and he’s got a NECROMANCY CLASS, he is under the power of yet another big magic lady bc his new ties to the unseelie court which he’s always known as evil, and, like previously stated, he’s being hunted for sport by his ex who is considered the most powerful being in the Summer Court.

Im not gonna lie. I dont care if Carol comes back by saving Daryl,i just want her back with him. It is not such a used trope i think in media, the man saving his girl is still the overused one for me, even if its getting better. And yes, its a repetition of whats gonna happen in Summit, but its good, because it means that they (amc, the writers, gimple, whatever...) know, even if uncounsciously/unwillingly, that Carol is for Daryl the equivalent of Michonne for Rick. Unlike you, i dont consider their stories to be that different. The only difference is canon. Apart from that, for example, as soon as they arrived in Alexandria, Richonne lived together with Carl and Judith. And guess what? Caryl did the same. Until, for God knows why, they had her kind of move in with Tobin. But i disgress. And its ok to disagree.

But it never crossed Amc etc... minds, unlike some shippers would have wanted, to have a carzekiel spin off, or a donnie one. There ks a reason for that. Can u imagine a spin off centered on Rick and anyone else than Michonne? Same for Daryl. Its not Connie or whoever who is gonna save Daryl or whatever. Its Carol.

Caryl might stay forever platonic and never go canon, but i think its safe to assume that at the end of it all (either end of s2 or in another show once everybody reunited with Rick), they re gonna leave together. New Mexico on a bike could still happen.

As for CP character, i think its also safe to assume that they didnt kiss in s1 wich is done filming. If they had, we would have heard abt it by now (there have been a few spoiling photos for other spin offs.... without spoiling too much myself for u or ur readers, even if i think you dont care since you dont plan to watch).

I dont think we have to worry abt Isabel or Isobel or whatever. Yes, he's going to question his loyalty blablabla, but its not gonna last.Have a lot of other things to say, but its too long already. Will wait for another time!

Hi back. Just a heads up, you brought up a few points that I feel strongly about, so if it sounds like I'm yelling at you, I'm not. Like you said, we can disagree, and I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts.

Carol saving Daryl means she'll be active and she'll have a strong emotional drive, so I support that as well. There are still ways to distinguish Caryl's and Richonne's arcs, but I ultimately don't care if it turns out both shows have the women saving the men's asses which then lead to beautiful reunions. If that concerns AMC, then they probably should've stuck to the original premise for the Caryl spinoff. If there's a chance to circle back to the idea of Caryl going on a road trip together like fans wanted in the first place, that would be exciting. I'm all for it.

But just because we can draw parallels between the two couples, even though we can acknowledge that Daryl is in love with Carol just like Rick is in love with Michonne and vice versa, that doesn't mean their stories are the same. They're not. They don't share the same histories or the same experiences or the same traumas. They came together in different ways and they've grown together in different ways. Apples and oranges.

You're right that I won't watch S1 of le spinoff, and that's for a few reasons. One, because I don't condone how it came to exist in the first place. Two, because I want to close the significant pay gap between Norman and Melissa. Three, because it's obvious it won't respect Caryl's relationship or Daryl's character. It doesn't matter that he and CP's character won't actually get together or kiss, etc. What matters is the fact that AMC will tease the shit out of it like they did with Daryl's three other younger non love interests, which subjects Melissa to more ageism even if she's not involved in the story and subjects Caryl fans to more misery even if they don't watch. Melissa's/Carol's absence is going to hang over the show no matter what.

It's infuriating that AMC does so much for their male stars/EP's, more than most of them deserve, but they have no problem throwing the women to the wolves. It's infuriating if they still assume they can take advantage of Caryl/Carol fans' loyalty by playing the same manipulative games they have been for years without delivering on their promises, one of those promises being (unambiguous!) canon. Caryl were written to be romantic, whether their haters want to see that or not. It's important for story integrity, for Daryl's and Carol's character growth, and for onscreen representation. I can't give AMC my viewership/subscription if nothing changes.

Oh boi and talking abt Arikado; the common idea of a grown up n stable Alucard finding stability after "ending" the cycle is fine and all, but the implication from his AoS n DoS behaviour that he is in a terrible mental state and unable to let go of the cycle? like ok i stand by being annoyed of and suspicious at people uncritically treating ochette as a child bc of the aggressive and obviously racist infantilization of the beastlings and also the beastlings as a concept. outside of some ppl commenting on a really old game announcement like "what do you mean the pasifika coded main character is an animal girl who is obsessed with food . why would you do this" the only actual ot2 fan ive seen criticizing the ochette racism is someone acting like temenos' chapter 5 came from temenos the character being racist

temenos isnt real, he is a fake guy. he is racist(im never letting go of the 'human language' banter. i will be mad about that until i die), and so is his story(kaldena...), and the beastlings' 'history' definitely makes things substantially Worse but im shaking you like a soda can please tell me you understand that ochette's story is Already Racist. it is already racist to infantilize them and make them the only characters who speak in a repetitive simplistic dialect and make the only speakers of the beastling language incomprehensible(dont even worry abt why none of the others speak beastling thats, uh, fine probably) and have Beastling Village Apartheid wherein the explicitly colonizer characters have like cute little sidequests and a redemption arc where they kinda chill out and are satisfied with Only half the village they colonized. it is already racist to make them Noble Savages who are so in touch with Nature that they're kemonomimi and they talk to their animal companions and they're obsessed with food, specifically meat. it's already racist to have them be Called beastlings and have the nameless village and beastling village be nameless when everyone else gets a real demonym! in fact despite me continuing to believe that the beastlings were reverse engineered from the concept of the hunter subjob making you a catgirl the writers wrote themselves into a situation where the hunter subjob is brownface!

so it's like. really bad that despite ochette being 20 she is characterized like a toddler. temenos is definitely the worst to her and is the source of the most open racism but despite me liking her castti is also super racist to ochette, she's just not as much of a dick about it. i kind of want to be generous to people who thought ochette was supposed to be a kid because that is how she's written but like... no, man, i don't think so. i dont think that joke about ochette being a child soldier is all that funny and i think you maybe should have thought for like two more seconds about why that would still be bad and ultimately an excuse to have the protagonist be infantilized. ochette should both be an adult and be treated like an adult and in larger terms the beastlings as a concept should've either been scrapped, massively reworked, or at the very least treated like actual people. i don't even want ot2 to have acknowledged the depth and prevalence of racism because ot2 is just not a game that's equipped to deal with the kind of systemic oppression it introduced with the beastlings, which i know because they fucked up so badly that they ended up just accepting the premise of racism and simply arguing that you shouldn't be so mean to biologically inferior races. this isn't something they should have put in the game if they weren't prepared to reckon with it.

there's no like conclusion here. i still like ochette(the version of her i made up in my brain thats essentially a completely different character, anyway) and idk what the most ethical thing to do in this situation would be. probably not making jokes about how baby and stupid she is, though.

I dont understand why ppl want to get spoilers (that anon worrying abt aegon cheating) for fics or things in general, like, just read on and all your questions will get answered..

You told anon that abby is the only person he truly deeply loved, and yeah its obvious when reading it, but I could also imagine aegon falling in love along the way with other people he engaged with sexually, doesn’t mean he doesn’t love abby still. Maybe the love for the others wasn’t as deep or true, but just bc he loves abby doesn’t mean he cant fall in love (at least a little) with someone else too.

People like spoilers because they're hungry for answers. Why do you think there's so much speculation about season two of house of the dragon? And the anon who asked for the heartbreak spoiler, I didn't mind giving because I don't consider it a spoiler. I say right in the story summary that Abby and Aegon will have a Happy Ending, because in this fandom, there are a lot of stories that follow the 'rocks fall and everyone dies' plot of the book. This story isn't. I have heard of people who have been blindsided by poorly tagged stories where they thought they were getting a happy ship ending only to have the canon character like, cheat and then brutalize the OC pairing they were in. I have no problem whatsoever answering questions like this.

As the author, I'm asking you, the reader, to invest your time and emotions into the story I'm crafting. I want you to care. I want you to come along the ride with me! But this is also a fun hobby, and I know if I were a reader and then had the rug pulled out from under me, I wouldn't feel great. This is fic. This is free. This isn't a book I bought. So no, I don't mind reassuring people that Abby and Aegon are going to be okay, and that the current arc that anon was going into wasn't going to go into infidelity. If there was cheating in the story, I absolutely would tag it that way because that's an appropriate trigger. Whatever Aegon is doing during the particular arc, I do not consider it infidelity. Abby and Aegon are betrothed by outside force, but they aren't committed to each other. They're operating on that 'assumption feeling'. And there's a difference.

I think people are so capable of falling in love more than once in their lives. The idea of 'the one soulmate' is romantic as a trope, but it doesn't always resonate, you know?

I have to tease you here, Anon, because you just chided the other anon for asking for spoilers, and then asked me for a spoiler here! But I will say I already answered this question in the fic! In chapter 5:

And the love he had/thought he had for this person doesn't take away from his depth of feeling for Abby! No one person can be everything, and that's a thesis statement within the story. Aegon doesn't think he can be with Abby, so he was actively trying to move on from her!

ive been watching hxh recently and ive so attatched onto killua as a regressor 😭 its not my fault he has such baby energy!! soooo heres a post abt him!!!!

🧸 honestly i think hes been regressing for a long time without realizing, but it kicked into full gear after the chimera ant arc. he also found himself slipping often during the zoldyck family arc due to the stress, but surpressed it so he wouldn't regress

🧸 he absolutely regresses to cope with stress and trauma. he found out what it was after gon found him slipping. after kullia explained how he was feeling, the two researched on their own only to find out that, hey, killua you're an age regressor!

🧸 he regresses to age 5-8! not a baby baby but enough so that he doesn't have to worry about much

🧸 its not often hes fully regressed unless hes very stressed. usually he just age dreams or half regresses

🧸 everyone in the main gang are his cgs! gon serves kinda like a playmate cg, kurapika is his main cg and leorio is like his babysitter. everyone loves him!

🧸 killua is a difficult baby, to say the least. tantrums galore. and dont even THINK about asking him to share - totally out of the question

🧸 hes very spoiled, mostly by kurapika. leorio gets on his case that he's "spoiling him further" but then he can't resist killua's puppy eyes when he wants something

🧸 a lot of his regression is vent regression, so gon and co had to find ways to comfort him during those moments. he loves when kurapika holds him and sings to him.

🧸 on the topic of cgs, sometimes alluka and nanika are his big sisters!!! he loves them very much!!!!!

🧸 hes a horror baby for sure. he loves spooky things and darker humor. he likes playing "dark" games with his toys

🧸 he doesnt have a lot of gear, just a couple toys and a blue bunny jellycat he got as a birthday gift from his friends. he also doesnt use pacis and sucks his thumb instead lol

im gonna fuckign cry!! theres so much swimming around my tiny little brain and it is so hard to remember what stuff is canon and what is stuff i spun in a hiatus fueled mania but th one thing i can come up with is simply that. shes kind. she cares. so fucking much. i cant spin as much as i want to bc i desperately need to destroy my emotions again and rewatch the wtd arc but so much of her feels so driven by how much she genuinely worries abt the people close to her. she is driven by love!!! she is so loved!!!! she loves, and is loved, and that love was enough of a lifeline to keep her afloat. her instant worrying about tilly the instant she regained her senses, all of those fragmented memories being echoes of her love and connection for others that had been scratched away, the decision to hold tight to that before it could be ripped away again. her trying to protect tilly despite having barely anything to protect her with in that state, against the very thing that did that to her to begin with!!! RRRAAHHHH...... every day i miss her and miss her and miss her if she has 100 fans iam one of them if she has 1 it is me if she has 0 ive been erased from this earth but dont you fucking worry i will be BACK. im cutting myself off here KJDNKGJND

AGREED! i dont really think theres any other way to read him. i do think that /as a kid/ he more closely fell into the calm+quiet attitude but i also dont think thats... a bad thing? like. what i was saying w the post wasnt its wrong to hc characters who fit into these respective character archetypes with a neurodivergence whos stereotype more closely resembles them. just that there are ways to exist outside of them too. like ive always been a strong proponent of taichi a3 being very adhd but hes also very much the loud and energetic type. but someone else in the tags of the same post said the opposite which is also fine lol

basically its like. ppl should look beyond that surface layer and all. but when you do that youd end up with a picture that looks more like... a 50/50 split of both calm and energetic characters headcanoned as either. instead of just 100% calm in one group 100% energetic in the other. and in that vein i dont think theres any need to overlook the half of people who may look "more" like the stereotype just to be subversive. some adhd ppl are loud, some autistic ppl are quiet. thats fine it just doesnt end there basically. yeah :)

ANYWAY about otto specifically. youre right like. ive already basically done a whole analysis about this but otto's entire story is like. so very. yeah. i dont know how to put it bc i dont think its intentional coding at all, but its something that resonates like it makes sense. you could say oh its just his power hes actually totally nt but like. you cant fully separate him from- esp the way he talks about it as his "abnormality" that his parents worried abt and would take him to see doctors abt and stuff. idk its like, maybe its not "literal" but does it have to be in a fictional story? the same way that in arc 6 subaru more or less develops DID but you could say "oh its just because of the books of the dead" yeah but in the real world what does that look like? you know? i dont think its something you should be looking at w a 1:1 real world perspective. in otto's case i think hed be autistic even without the divine protection though like thats just a bonus. otto really is one of my favorite characters too like hes. look at him

I have so many fucking things ... he has this weird thing w/ logan having alcoholism but its supposed 2 b "funny" or whatever. I think if he were 2 treat that Seriously & like have an episode where he talked abt alcoholism id stop watching. Bcuz thats fucking weird & i do not trust him 2 do it correctly.

Also maybe if he dealt w/ logans arc bad. Like.. it has a lot 2 do w/ how 2 healthily deal w/ ur anger & boundaries & not being listened 2 & etc but theres so many ways it could go so wrong. Bcuz its wrong 2 assume that logan is completely in the right w/ his actions, bcuz he isnt. He gets angry & guilt trips the other sides & yells at them hes an asshole.

Bcuz the sides treat logan like shit & constantly ignore him or talk over him & like... he HAS tried 2 b upfront abt his feelings & express himself & every single time they shut him down. I would say adding unneccessary conflicts bcuz he doesn't know how 2 resolve them, but thomas is already doing that & I havent stopped watching so...

If he gave virgil valid rzns 2 dislike thr "dark" sides bcuz i feel like that 100% pushes the "all the dark sides r evil" concept that the entire series is supposed 2 b pushing AWAY from. There's still ppl that think janus & remus r the "antagonists" of the story when i would argue there isnt one because its a story abt a Single person & his Personal struggles. god the patronizing hand wringing i've read worrying that if izzy is 'redeemed' in season 2 then all the haters will turn on the show and accuse it of changing its plans to pander to izzy's fandom favoritism. and like, no, probably not! if the writers decide to go in a direction where izzy starts to do better and heals, i currently trust the writer's room to figure out a way to do it that serves the narrative in a satisfying way. idk what could be the catalyst for that kind of growth and change, but i couldn't have predicted most of season 1 so i'll let the big brains on the show figure out if that's something that could work.

i'm more worried about The Discourse if he doesn't get that. certain izzy stans have so wildly reinterpreted the show to make him into who they want him to be, someone's bound to feel betrayed if he continues to be a villain. like i look at the way people complained about infinity train season 3's villain arc for simon, who was imo more sympathetic than izzy, but was given every opportunity to be better and instead doubled down every time until it killed him. so much blame was heaped on grace, who started out in the same place as him, but did put in the work to start doing better, for not trying harder to help him. (how shocking that the black girl who was having a rough enough go at having her own worldviews shattered and confronting and recognizing harm that she'd caused that couldn't be undone was criticized by fans for not also correctly managing the feelings of an angry white boy who decided that any change in opinion was a betrayal to him.)

all that is to say, are izzy stans going to be okay if their guy isn't given the redemption, or in some cases, the hero's vindication they think he deserves? or are they going to blame other characters for not trying hard enough to help him find a way to do better?

i mean, there probably WILL be some people complaining if izzy gets redeemed. i know i take a very firm izzy-critical stance and have gotten into a few arguments w izzy fans about it, but in a fandom this big there are people who are unhinged in all sorts of ways. i dont doubt that SOMEONE out there will get real pissed at the writers if izzy gets a redemption

i am torn tho whether i want an izzy redemption or not. for story purposes ive talked before abt why i think a bad ending for izzy would be interesting to see from a STORY perspective (and also a personal taste perspective), but like you said, if any writers' room could do an izzy redemption arc justice, it's this one. if i think there's something to criticize in ofmd i will criticize it (i have an entire tag for it), but im not gonna like. harass the writers just bc they didnt kill off my least favorite character. nobody with any braincells would do that.

the thing is tho. while i have no problem with an izzy redemption arc as long as it's well-written, i AM kind of terrified of izzy apologists to having MORE reason to interpret izzy as a poor innocent victim. not that i think the writers would actually portray him like that, but if we're given any actual in-text reasons to sympathize with izzy (instead of subtext and headcanon) you KNOW there's gonna be a huge chunk of izzy fans who will be INSUFFERABLE about it

but then youre right, if izzy doesn't get redeemed there's gonna be SO MUCH SHIT. the people who interpret ed as izzy's abuser (🤢) are already gonna have a hard time when ed ends up in a happy relationship with stede (honestly, what fucking show do they think they're watching?), i dont want to even think abt the discourse that'll happen if izzy isn't redeemed. i was only ever in the periphery of the infinity train fandom, but from what ive heard, the discourse was truly horrific

what do you do when inspiration suddenly hits you? like do you just memorize it in ur head or note it somewhere or do u work on that idea immediately?? im very very curious about ur creative process PLEASE OVERSHARE because i believe there are things that are new to me. like you write and draw and it's amazing how tou do both! i'm more curious about ur writing process because i don't write much (nowadays i only journal or write diary entries, in the past i did write fanfictions but they're almost all oneshots or unplanned dropped after 2 or 3 chapters). (how) do you plan your storyline? do you consider yourself flexible (like are u comfortable with changing plans in a big project where one change could lead to other changes?). Do you beta read by yourself or is there anyone who does it? if you do it by yourself, what do you feel when re-reading your writings? i literally have sm questions but i don't wanna overwhelm you 😭😭😭 you don't need to answer if you don't want to, that's alright!!!

for whenever the inspiration hits, i tend to start on it immediately. writing is such a mood booster for me and i'm in a low mood most of the time so i seize the moment whenever motivation comes :'D sometimes when i'm busy (let's say school/work) and a great idea pops in (usually in quote format), i just lay it down in my gdocs. for oneshots, 1 doc would suffice. for longfics, the docs per chapter are contained in a folder.

i don't think i'm great in fan arts (i just get the boost from those who draw well—like u!) so i'm glad you appreciate it as well <3

regarding my writing process, someone actually asked me about it before! but to generalize my answer there, i ponder on 3 things (plot, characterization, & chapter study). my first fic (and my first series in general) was dusk in the brightest. i worked on chapter study first: detailed sequence of events from C1-10, vague concept in 11-15, then the rest is just 2-3 sentences of how i want the story to end. the 2nd one, character study, was smth i learned from a professor in one of my subjects when i submitted a one-act play script to her and she heavily criticized my characterization (like so badly i still get jitters remembering it) 😭 since then, i've been very wary with getting things accurate and consistent with my characters. for my plot-heavy fics, that's what i'm most serious for.

i think my flexibility (i dont even think i got that) was v challenged during the last arc of DIB because i suddenly had a complete change of mind with the ending (exactly what u had mentioned: changes that would lead one thing to the other). it was def not comfortable but a great tip (i think) to work around it is that: go back to your earlier chapters, pick up the most random scenarios you had made, then come up with a reason why that random thing ensued. an example of executing it is how isayama worked around aot's first scene (child!eren crying & mikasa being the first one he sees) by connecting it to his last scene in the manga (ofc i wouldn't assume isayama just thought abt it midway. it's just with how he executed it).

i don't have lots of friends in this app so i usually do the revisions all by myself. i'm a type of author that releases chapters impulsively—i'd publish smth that i hadn't proofread yet, read it in the app, then just do all the editing there. i'll repeat the process until i finally get satisfied. i think it's easier for me to point out mistakes when i feel the urgency to do so (like omg i have to hurry in polishing this bc readers might click anytime soon 😭) though someone helped me change POVs (from 1st to 2nd) in DIB C1-13 and let me tell u that i never thought having someone help me beta read my work could bring me so much delight.

and pls don't worry about overwhelming me! using this app and dumping all my work here are literally what keeps me sane from the overwhelming things in my life atm. to have u appreciate it gives me joy & comfort. thats why i'd be honored to answer all of ur questions :'D
