How is the progress going, if you dont mind me asking

pretty good, surprisingly. the hiatus was really needed cause social media was draining me like crazy. i’m halfway through chapter two already and i’ll probably do a re-read when i’m finished cause there are a lot of points which need to come across clearly + some foreshadowing for future chapters.

my cousin ended up spilling orange juice on my keyboard so i needed to order a replacement and it’s gonna come on the 30th. in the meantime, i’m just making some edits and writing down plot points in my notepad whenever inspiration strikes. y’all won’t have to wait too long for an update, rest assured.

#before anybody says anything i have never played cotl in my entire life and i dont plan to. but. crow showed me some narilamb art #and i. well.. Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re doing well 💚

It’s extremely fitting to have a weekly update on one of the Friday 13ths within this year given TFS’s slow-build horror themes and the total number of chapters in Book One. That was an intentional choice! This number is sometimes associated with creepy things from the eerie clock in the Haunted Mansion attractions to the Friday the 13th slasher series and so on. 🔪🐈⬛

It’s been just over a week since Book One’s release. I’m so grateful for all of your support during the wait and now that you all finally have a chance to experience the full story. TFS: Book One is live on all available platforms. I was always curious, possibly a bit anxious, about how the different stores would work, like if Steam would let it unlock earlier or later than let’s say the Google Play Store offering it. (I realized that they probably all wouldn’t unlock at a synchronized time.) It’s well past the release date and everything went smoothly!

I’m still kind of taking things in right now after waiting and hoping. TFS made its debut to the public in June 2021 with the release of the first demo (containing the first three chapters). I submitted Book One on June 17th 2022, and then it was a matter of being patient for the Hosted Games queue until January 5th 2023. We all waited together for only 18 months.

I hope to keep up this rigorous pace with your continued support.

To see Book One released to the public is both exciting and nerve-wracking, so I’ve been taking a little break from writing on Book Two during the release until everything sinks in before shifting back to prepping for it. That being said, I am eagerly working on Patreon content. Some of you may have seen January’s Content Schedule, if not you can use the link to the page. I’ve been patiently waiting to share so many ideas on there that it’s been fun deciding the topics.

Aside from processing my ~emotions~, I’ll be working on future content, replying to Patreon emails about character portraits, answering questions, and, of course, continuing to prep for Book Two’s chapters. (The sheer amount of variables from Book One means I made a spreadsheet, lol. 📊 You might have a guess about the scope if you’ve finished a playthrough, or you will experience the butterfly effect in the future. Each chapter gets its own sheet of variables I can call-on or trigger.)

Again, a huge thank you to each of you who found TFS and stayed with me through this process! A gentle reminder about please leaving a review/rating, if you’re enjoying the game, but most importantly, I’m wishing you all the very best! 🥰

Chapter 5 Progress Update

Let's get right into this week's details of what the hell I've managed to accomplish.

So... the daily life has been all written (apart from the Monotora Files). Well I guess enthusiasm does last. And I've already made a good start on the investigation now.

As for art, I've managed to complete 3 and a half CGs, as well as smaller things like the next island's map.

You know, as crazy as it sounds, I think I overestimated how long everything is going to take. Don't get your hopes too high (that goes for me too) but we'll just have to see where things are next week.

Hey guys I'm sorry for disappearing from here omg.. I've been SO unbelievably tired and struggling with a bad flare up of my ongoing skin condition and it's made getting out of bed, let alone working, unbearable this month (': That, on top of my mother's delusional outbursts, have made existing. pretty hard. Dealing with her frequent episodes and calls to the ambulance and ER has got the entire household on edge and missing work, not just me

I had promised to get tons of work done this month, but haven't gotten as much done as i had initially set out (so far, we'll see how the next week plays out), so thank yalll so So much for all your patience 😭 I'm going to continue to upload previous finished works in the meantime- at least when I can stand being at the laptop!

On my new OC that's been on my mind, I still don't have that much on her (and probably won't even if se her in the fic I was thinking of if I ever write it), I've decided on her being from either Jade or Benitoite. She'll have a half-brother on her mother's side. And I ended up partially borrowing the idea of an old character from my writings in another fandom, and make them the adoptive children of Linet's godfather.

After calming down, kind words, some consideration, and a night of sleep, I've decided not to quit the project but i feel like i have to clarify something?

Downtime and potential future games are very headcannon/AU heavy, meaning that, for example, jonny is a creature, ivy is trans masc, and there's content that is not at all in canon. [Specific HC under cut♡]. I also do not read any of the canon fiction, so those infos also lack for the most part (unless for the things I've been told).

I felt like i should mention these things NOW before anyone expects a close to cannon game which i will not do since this is a FUN project and digging up and reading walls of overwhelming text and getting headaches is NOT fun.

[For example, I have an HC that there aren't any humans! It's just different evolutional branches of a core feral species!! Jonny, for example, is one of the more feral branches, while carmilla is a pure vamperic branch that has almost died out- either humans existed once and found another species that they merged with or the feral species was first and eventually some branches evolved to "humas" with pointy ears and pointy teeth! Hi I loved your demo for lovely bones, went to your blog and saw you have multiple WIP's planned. This is fully from a state of concern and of course you are allowed to do as you please, but I would be cautious with starting too many projects at once. I've seen too many authors get overwhelmed and burned out because of it. Even one IF-project is a major undertaking which takes a lot of time, planning and energy. I assume you also have a daily routine and other things occupying your time and these are hobby-projects, which should remain fun and not a source of stress. As a reader I've been burnt too many times by becoming invested in a wip and then seeing them be abandoned, and I'd hate to see that happen with this one. In any case I wish you the best of luck!

i completely understand your perspective. there are many cases of authors getting super burnt out while juggling too many projects and it's a genuine issue. however, i also believe that not everyone feels like that. i, for example, get burnt out when i work on one project constantly with no other stories to refresh my mind with. that was what happened with WLB, and it's what happened with TCS too as i focused on one sole project and didn't have any other project i could use as a backup to unleash some creativity on.

i do think this is the maximum amount of project i'll be working on for now because i don't want to bite off more than i can chew. three is the max i'm willing to work with rn, and since i'm using a priority system to write, i'm on top of my writing schedule with all the other stuff going on in my life.

right now, my priority system is:

the lightning thief {chapter one (finished & soon TBR) & chapter two (writing in-between TCS rewrite)}

what lovely bones {chapter one (finished outlining the major points; already wrote sebas’s entry scene)}

Storyboarding the video is about 15% done so far

I forgot I'm in Uni and can't dedicate all my time to it (even though I am wanting to) so my estimation of "within a week" falls very much into the "if I didn't have to draw and was just editing normally it'd be correct, however I miscalculated" category of forgetfulness

Having an animatic for the series meticulously planned out in my head and partly planned out on paper is a really good motivator for this though because everytime I want to work on the animatic, I remember I have to finish editing my videos first, which leads me to doing just that

pspspsps you're too sweet anon. I'm glad you like the Dottore fics because he keeps my foot inside the Genshin rabbit hole. I like him a lot and I will convert as many people as possible over to my side.

My biggest weakness is having someone say that they would kill for me. The dirtier, the better. My favorite AO3 tag is psychopaths in love if it wasn't obvious. I tend to write fluffier and lighthearted fics, but Dottore is the one character I can actually go hard on. That's probably why I don't write him very often (unless asked for, ahem ahem), even though he's my favorite character because it'd be really out of place. So it makes me happy to hear these things.

So if genshin makes him into a redeemable character, I will weep in my grave over what could have been.
