Synopsis: Alex and Thomas spend New Year's Eve at a Charity gala.

This incredibly gorgeous portrait of my OTP is by the amazing ArtbyAinna (Insta). I've been holding onto this art for almost 2 years. I can't even begin to express how much I love this piece. It is one of my favorites of them ever. It's so tender and soft and romantic and it's so very, very much them. I truly can't thank Ainna enough for bringing this vision to life.

The ballroom gleamed with soft hues of gold, set against brilliant black. Flickers of gold twinkled like stars in the night upon the ceiling. The shimmering decor exuded elegance, while the subdued lighting provided a warm, inviting ambiance for the luxurious New Year’s Eve charity gala. The event began with a cocktail reception, followed by a charity auction, and finally, a countdown to the New Year celebration.

While most of the guests let loose near the bar or on the dance floor, moving to the beats of a famed DJ he had never heard of, Thomas and Alex found themselves drawn to a quieter corner, avoiding the boisterous revelry. The strands of lights behind them warmed them with their golden glow, a serene environment for the pair to lose themselves together while the year ticked away.

Their movements were slow and graceful as the pair swayed to a melody of their own. Thomas held Alex close in his gentle embrace, his hands resting softly on the small of her back. Alex’s arms circled around his neck as she nestled her head on his shoulder. Her eyes closed, relaxing in the comfort of his arms. She knew if it were up to him, he would have left the second the auction had ended, perhaps even before, had they accepted his offer to purchase a few pieces before the event. But still, he was here with her—because of her. A radiant smile spread across her lips; there was nothing he wouldn’t do for her, but that feeling was mutual.

“I love you,” she whispered softly. She tipped her head slightly, her gaze meeting his.

His lips brushed gently against her forehead, placing a tender, lingering kiss. “I love you, too, my Alex.”

The cheers of celebration grew louder, the countdown to the New Year beginning.

“Would you like to join in?” He questioned, though his arms remained warmly around her.

“I have everything I need right here.”

“I could not agree more.”

They leaned in, their lips meeting in a tender kiss even before the countdown was completed.

As cheers of “Happy New Year” filled the space, the pair stayed together, locked in a loving embrace. No matter what the future held, as long as they were together, they would make it through.

“Ready to go?” Alex whispered when they parted. She held her hand toward him.

"Almost." He couldn't resist stealing one more kiss. It was the first of many kisses to follow, but it was enough for now “Happy New Year, my love”

"Happy New Year, Thomas!"

He laced his fingers with hers, guiding her out of the ballroom, without a glance back toward the party, still in full strength. All they needed was each other, their children safely asleep at home, and their beloved black lab.

As much as I'd love to hold onto it, I feel like it's time to share it with the world. I know Thomas and Alex aren't a popular pairing but I appreciate any and all support of them now and always.They will always be the couple that I hold closest to my heart.

Summary: Alex is less than happy with her performance. Can Thomas offer comfort?

A/N: For @storyofmychoices. I was thrilled when I found out you were my recipient for the Secret Pal Exchange! Not only are you an actual ray of sunshine, endlessly kind and supportive, but your Thomas/Alex fics were some of the first I read when I joined the fandom - and I continue to adore them (and you!). I hope I did them justice in this little story. @choicesfandomappreciation

Even after all this time, watching Alex act is both a privilege and a joy – from a director’s point of view. As the man who loves her… “privilege” and “joy” aren’t enough. Thomas thinks in terms of images, transitions, lighting and shadow. But there are no words in his professional vocabulary to describe what watching her does to him. It’s a sensation that defies words. The closest he can come to describe her work is through oxymorons: painful yet sweet. Calculated yet visceral. Raw yet refined.

Perfect, in many ways.

Which is why he’s so bemused when she leaves the set upset with her performance.

Oh, she doesn’t say so. She jokes with the cast and crew as usual, makes her habitual beeline to the coffee station, and is her normal gregarious self. But. There’s something about the slope of her shoulders, the look in her eyes. She’s not happy with what she did today. And he can’t for the life of him figure out why.

She was damn near perfect, from his perspective.

He starts to walk in her direction but stops himself. They’ve both agreed long ago to keep their personal relationship separate from their professional relationship. And walking up to his wife to ask, “hey darling, why are you upset about your performance, because I can tell you are even though you never even mentioned it?” That crosses the line they’ve both been so careful to set in place.

So he bides his time and doesn’t strike until they’re in the car.

“Do you want to get coffee on the way home?”

Alex shrugs. “I suppose.”

All right, he’s officially worried. Her usual reaction to that question is more along the lines of “duh.” He decides to give up on tact. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong.” She gives him a sidelong glance. “Why?”

“You’re a fabulous actress, my dear, but you’re not a good liar.”

She sighs. “I couldn’t get into Anya’s mind today.”

“You were brilliant.”

“But it was all so technical. I didn’t feel it, I just went through the motions.”

“All right, but… that’s part of why actors learn the craft. Method acting isn’t the only valid kind of acting.”

“I guess,” she mumbles.

He doesn’t tell her she’s overreacting. Alex’s work ethic and professional standards are two of the reasons he fell in love with her. He loves that she wants to do an excellent job. But not at the expense of her emotional wellbeing.

“Do you know what I learned, when I was going through that creative block after The Last Duchess?”

“Your work sucks when I’m not the lead?”

“Hilarious. I learned that it is impossible to force that creative spark. There was nothing you could have done to feel Anya today…”

“Aww babe, thank you. I didn’t feel bad enough already.”

“… Because you already did everything you could have possibly done. You live and breathe that woman. You learned to emulate her accent, you learned how to play the violin, you even traveled to Vienna to tour all her usual haunts.”

“I needed to know her.”

“And you do. I think you know her even better than I do.”

She gasps. “Are you telling me that you think someone knows this movie better than you do?”

“I said the character. Not the movie.”

“Of course. No need to go crazy.”

“As I was saying, you did everything you could possibly do to feel her. And you do feel her, most of the time. Today was an off day, nothing more to it than that.”

“Still. It’s frustrating when you’re relying on technique alone rather than emotion.”

“That’s something every actor must do eventually. The thing that distinguishes a talented actor from a professional talented actor is how they handle those off days.”

“What do you mean?”

“You might not have felt her, but nobody had an inkling of that. I didn’t, and I’m rather exacting about it.”

“You? Nooooo.”

“My point is that you are such a skilled actress, nobody could tell you weren’t feeling your character today. That’s one of the things that make you an artist, rather than just a performer.”

“I got your point a couple of miles ago,” Alex admits with a grin. “I was just having such a good time hearing you sing my praises. You’re pretty stingy with them.”

He side-eyes her but can’t help the twitch of his lips. “You are a menace”

“That’s why you love me.”

“No.” He parks the car and turns to face her. “That’s only one of the reasons. The whole list would take more time to enumerate than we have at this precise moment.”

She blushes. He loves that she still does that sometimes, all these years later. “Well… you could give me a sneak peek.”

“Very well. I love you because you are,” he brings her hand to his lips and kisses each of her knuckles. “Kind. Funny. Sweet, but with a spine of steel. Shall I keep going?”

“Not right now, but as soon as we have that coffee –and boy, do I need caffeine more than I realized– I’d like you to keep going.”

“I think I can do that.” As they get out of the car, he turns to her. “Oh, we need to pick up a treat for Bogart, too.”

A slow smile spreads over Alex’s face. “And that,” she exclaims, “is one of the reasons I love you. In case you were wondering.”

RCD Drabble - Thomas x Alex

From the prompt stargazing and laying in the grass for the March @choicesmonthlychallenge.

Also a birthday drabble for the loveliest of lovey beans @storyofmychoices. Happy birthday week beautiful!!

Warnings & A/N: None. Not sure where your Alex grew up but for the sake of this drabble we are going with RCDs canon. So please use your imagination if it’s all wrong.

“What are you doing?” she asked as he slipped into the bed in her parents guest room.

He looked at her, the confusion on her face mirroring his own.

“I am going to read before going to sleep,” he said, part statement part question.

“But you can’t,” she said adamantly. “Not yet.”

“Excuse me,” he chuckled.

“Come on.”

She had walked over to the bed and threw the sheets back and pulled him from the bed. Her hand laced with his and she led him from the room.

“Um, Alex,” he mumbled and drew them both to a stop. “I’m not dressed.”

“What?” she looked at him and then laughed. “You have pajamas on,” she pointed out.

“Let me rephrase. I am not dressed for leaving the bedroom.”

“It’s my parents house. Now come on.”

She tugged on his arm again and he reluctantly followed until she threw open the screen door and led them down off the porch.

“I am-“ Thomas started to protest again.

“It’s Iowa, Thomas,” Alex giggled. “Our closest neighbor is two miles that way, she pointed with her free hand. “Come on.”

She drew to a stop in the middle of the yard. Corn fields surrounding them on every side. He watched in disbelief as she lay back against the grass and crossed her arms under her head.

“Join me.”

He could hear the smile in her voice even if his eyes still had not adjusted to the dark well enough to see them.

He glanced around them. Unsure.

“I feel like I’ve seen this movie before,” he chuckled as he glanced at the cornfields again before shaking himself and joining her in the summer cooled grass.

“Don’t worry. I’ll save the midnight walk through the cornfield for tomorrow,” she teased.

“You can’t be serious?” he asked as he turned toward her.

She only laughed and continued looking up at the sky above them.

“You are teasing?” he asked again.

“Guess you will find out, Mr. Hunt,” she said as she looked at him and then back at the sky. “I do this every time I come back to visit my folks. There is nothing like the night sky out here. No city lights to hide the stars. No cars and crowds to drown out the night. It’s perfect.”

He looked at her with a soft smile on his face before turning to look at the sky with a gasp as the entire Milky Way lay splashed across the sky more brilliant than even the photos and documentaries could ever do justice.

do the others know about you?

synopsis: you're just a human dating someone that's... well. you can certainly never introduce them to your friends or family. but do their friends/companions know about you?

a/n: is it a good idea to include every single creepypasta i can think of from the top of my head... no. will i do it anyway? yes, i will. anyways this right here is my pride and joy. i enjoyed writing it, and i'm proud of it, so i hope you guys enjoy it as well.

warnings: possessive behavior in a few, yandere behavior in a few, spoiler alert alex almost kills you but dw there's no character death here.

includes: jeff the killer, eyeless jack, jane the killer [richardson + arkensaw], laughing jack, slenderman, nina the killer, the bloody painter, the puppeteer, clockwork, jason the toymaker, hobo heart, nurse ann, zalgo, x-virus, homicidal liu, ticci toby, tim wright, brian thomas, jay merrick, alex kralie, and jessica locke.

jeff the killer would more than likely tell the others about you, though mostly just so everyone knows that you're off limits for killing. he also just has this thing where he needs people to know what belongs to him so they know not to touch it, and in his mind, you belong to him so. none are allowed to touch you.

eyeless jack isn't that open about his personal life to others. mostly because he can't remember any of it, but also because he's just a guarded person in general. at most, the only people who know about you will probably be jeff, ben, and maybe sully.

jane richardson doesn't really hide your existence, mostly because she doesn't have contact with the others, so it doesn't matter. everyone of importance knows that you're together, and the government knows as well, so.

jane arkensaw would prefer certain people didn't find out about you, though she may tell some of her close friends about you if she's certain that they will keep your existence a secret as well. then again, it's not like you'll ever come into contact with any of the others so long as she has any say about it.

laughing jack more than likely lets everyone know about you because he literally can't shut up about you. he loves you! people need to know that he is so sickeningly devoted to you! even the kids he terrorizes know about you!

slenderman doesn't have any say on whether or not people learn about you because they're gonna find out anyways. besides, it's better if they did know about you because then they would know that you are off limits for killing. anyone who dares to even try to harm you will understand the pure wrath slender can bring down upon them.

nina the killer wants everyone to know about you. she needs everyone to know that you two are together and that she loves you so very much. she tells everyone all about the dates you two have and the gifts you get each other. it's cute, though it can be annoying at times.

the bloody painter doesn't interact much with the others, so not many of them know. helen doesn't really care if anyone finds out that he's dating you, it doesn't really matter to him. though... he will have some words if any of them try making a move on you or hurting you. you're his muse, after all.

the puppeteer doesn't want anyone to know about you, not even his proxies. you're his. no one else deserves to even know that you exist, so why the hell would he tell anyone about you? at most, the only person who knows about you would be emra because he knows that she won't tell anyone if he orders it.

clockwork doesn't let people close to her, so only a small handful of people would even know about you. she likes that none of the others really knows about you, though a part of her thinks about telling them so they know not to make you a victim. not that you'll ever become a victim, of course. she'll protect you from anything, don't worry.

jason the toymaker wouldn't want anyone to know about you. honestly, his whole thing is making sure that you belong to no one but him. you don't need anyone other than him, so why would he tell anyone about you? the others will know that he has someone in his life already, someone he'd burn the world down for, but they'll never know it's you unless they visit his toy shop.

hobo heart would be delighted if the others knew you were his. you have his heart, so it's only natural for everyone to know that you love each other, right? that's how relationships work. he doesn't really speak much with the others, but when he is around then he'll let everyone know who has his heart.

nurse ann is hardly ever around the others for them to even know about you. the only three to know of your existence is liu, sully, and helen because those are the only people she's close with. they don't need to know about you, it's not like they'll ever hurt you. trust me, she won't let them even if they were to try.

zalgo is just as surprised as everyone else that he's like... together. with you. shocks him every day, to be honest. but yes, he wants everyone to know you're his. he doesn't see you as a weakness, though he knows how fragile humans are so he makes sure you're safe from any that may cause you harm. it also sends a... delightful chill to the core of his existence knowing that everyone knows you belong to him.

x-virus basically needs everyone to know that you're together. not because he's possessive in any way, but because he needs to use this as a way to keep you with him. a tactic to keep you from leaving, if you will. with you dating cody, you're safe from harm. if you ever leave him, then you're no longer under his protection. so... stay with him.

homicidal liu is... hesitant, to put it simply. he doesn't particularly mind if the others find out, but he most certainly won't go out of his way to tell anyone. he doesn't want you involved in the darker parts of his life because he's worried about your safety. there are a few that he simply doesn't trust to know about you. sully, on the other hand, would love for everyone to know about you. he doesn't tell anyone because he respects liu's wishes to keep your existence a secret. though, he can't lie, it does make his heart race knowing that he and liu are the only ones who know about you.

ticci toby neither hid your relationship from people nor did he let anyone know about it. he's a naturally reserved person, so it wasn't like he was super open about himself with the others. in the beginning, the only one to know about you would probably be slender, but that's just because it's like... toby's boss, essentially. of course, those who were paying attention could see the signs.

tim wright would definitely keep your existence secret for as long as possible. the only person who knew about you in the beginning was brian, if we're being honest, and after all hell breaks loose, he'd do everything he could to keep you from getting involved. god forbid if jay or alex found out about you. jay would've used you to find him, and alex would've tried killing you.

brian thomas was open about his relationship with you, so everyone knew who you were. you even offered moral support to everyone filming marble hornets. of course, brian disappeared one day... and then you lost contact with alex... and tim was trying to move on with his life, so you didn't really keep in touch with him either. then jay came around, and... well. that led to a certain hooded figure watching you from afar.

jay merrick was neither open nor reserved about his relationship with you. he probably mentioned you early on in a few tapes, and he maybe even introduced you to alex when they were still friends. you'd probably be mentioned in casual conversation with tim, but ultimately it was a situation where if someone knew, they knew. and if they don't, then they just don't.

alex kralie was more reserved about his relationship with you. his closest friends knew, such as jay and brian, but that was about it. of course, once the operator entered the scene and alex started cleaning up loose ends, your life was endangered. alex... he wanted to kill you. he had to kill you. you suppose it's a good thing jay managed to find you before alex could.

jessica locke is obviously very open about her relationship with you. no need to keep it a secret, y'know? you two are like... the couple, y'know? everyone knows you're dating; you guys don't hide it. why would you two keep it a secret? there's no reason to.

He sucks at puzzles. He’s smart and tactical, but puzzles are on another level of difficulty for him.

He likes doodling a lot. If he has a pen and a surface to draw on, he will sketch a small smiley or a caterpillar. It has become such a habit that he doesn’t even think about it when he does it. It got so bad that once, Keegan called him out on it mid-doodle, leaving Logan embarrassed for a week.

He loves the ocean, but beaches annoy him. He hates sand. (I firmly believe his hate for them is from Hesh throwing sand in his face as children.)

He has a picture of him and Hesh as kids in his wallet. He feels calmer when he looks at it, getting into the habit of peeking at it when stressed.

He’s an avid Deftones enjoyer. He loves Beware and Diamond Eyes.

He likes caramel-scented things, but he doesn’t like the taste of it.

He has some insane dirt on Elias, and, of course, Hesh knows all of it.

For some odd reason, he’s phenomenal at parallel parking.

He takes pride in his nails being clipped and filed at all times. He was a nailbiter in his teens, so he cares about his nails more than he should today.

He had a motorcycle phase as a young adult. It got so bad he learned how to do a wheelie on them, but his love for them has died down in the many years he’s been alive.

Happiest of birthdays, Dani!! I hope you are having an absolutely beautiful day @storyofmychoices 💕

Warnings & A/N: None.

She still wondered at her life, their life together. It was everything she had ever dreamed of. Yet, the demands of their jobs, the demands of Hollywood, wore on them. It was so hard to keep that dream alive some days when he was half a world away and both were exhausted beyond measure.

It had been, what? Two weeks since they had seen each other for longer than ten minutes as they lay in their beds, thousands of miles apart, and she fell asleep while talking too late at night for her and too early in the morning for him.

He was exhausted, she could see it, she could hear it in his voice.

She was exhausted, he could see it, he could here it.

Good evening, he texted her.

Good morning, she reminded him.

Do you have time for a call? he asked.

Not right now. About to shoot that sunrise scene.

She sighed as she looked at the text as the makeup artist put the finishing touches to her face.

Your tomorrow? she asked

I have the shoot at the studio until 9pm. I will call as soon as I can after that.

Okay.

“You okay, Alex?” her hairstylist asked.

“Um what?” Alex wiped a tear from her cheek.

“You only?”

“Oh yeah. I’ll be fine,” she smiled stiffly as the makeup artist gave a small tsk at the offending tear. “Sorry,” Alex whispered.

I love you.

The text flashed on her screen and she smiled..

Love you too.

Three more days and she’d be on a plan home. Hopefully.

She returned to her hotel suite later that night and found flowers and a gift box waiting on the table alongside her dinner.

She sipped on the glass of wine and nibbled the sandwich as she opened the card tucked in the bouquet.

Happy birthday, my love! -T

Had the days really gotten away from her?

She checked her calendar. No, it definitely wasnt her birthday yet. That was nearly a month away.

He never was very good at remembering dates when he got busy. She smiled and setting the card down pulled on the ribbon tied neatly around the box. Opening the cover she found another note resting in side it.

Things I love about you, day one: Your smile that lights up my entire world. No. Your smile that is my entire world.

Tears in her eyes, the post script had her smiling again with a soft chuckle.

And before you accuse me of forgetting your actual birthday. I will be counting the things I love about you each and everyday until your actual birthday.

For therapy/counseling:

Bryce and Olivia, no

Ethan and Ellie, yes

Thomas and Alex (HWU), no

Thomas and Alex (RCD), yes

Both Ethan and Ellie and RCD!Thomas and Alex suffered a trauma for which they went to counseling for.

Ellie really struggled (and still struggles) with PTSD from the attack in book two. It is something she lives with daily. She has overcome a lot, but she definitely needed therapy to help her get there. She attended some sessions alone, but Ethan also went with her because he was definitely effected by her near-death experience as well. They learned how to cope individually, and as a couple. They worked together to overcome the tragedy and support one another through their internal struggle. They continue going to counseling periodically to keep their relationship strong and keep communication open.

Similarly, RCD!Alex had nightmares and a great amount of fear stemming from both the intimidation and assault by Viktor as well as the stalking. While not as severe as Ellie, Alex did struggle with these events. Thomas did his best to help her through them, but Alex did go to therapy for a while. Thomas went with her (at Alex's request) so that he could learn strategies to help her when she was having flashbacks and how to help her avoid triggers since Hollywood is filled with the possibilities for similar situations to arise again. Getting Bogart definitely helped Alex and gave her some added security. She no longer goes to therapy.

If you meant solely couples therapy for just relationship issues, not anything else, then not really. I think both these pairings definitely worked on their relationship while attending therapy for other reasons, but I'm not sure they would have gone without a triggering event (if that makes sense)

Thank you again for the ask. I mentioned Ellie going to therapy in a fic or two, but I really want to explore it more because it is important to show characters as broken and needing help, because they're human too!
