Let's not joke about hate crimes
I've seen a number of posts here on Tumblr joking about acts of violence against people whose opinions OP disagrees with. Often these posts are made towards Conservatives who misgender or otherwise disrespect LGBT people or characters.
These posts are made with the noble intention of protecting vulnerable individuals, but let me draw to your attention the fact that they use the exact same language as some radical Republicans use against gay or trans people. This is horrific behavior which we want to stop, which throughout history has been a gateway to discrimination and dehumanization. By pointing this same behavior back at them, we become hypocrites, perpetuating the cycle of hatred.
We want this world to be a better place. We want to spread love and understanding. We want to teach people how to act with understanding and kindness. We want to make Allies, not enemies. But before this world can be better we have to be better.
Let's not joke about hate crimes.

When m/m writers say "women DNI / don't read" on a platform like here or AO3 that's majority female, what's the thinking behind this? Are they insecure in their masculinity and trying to preemptively block fujo cooties from getting on their fiction? Are they trying to meet people for RP or dating through engagement with their fics? That I can maybe understand. But if it's the former, there's a culture mismatch. "Women DNI" writers mostly aren't writing stuff that's popular on Space Battles, Sufficient Velocity, Royal Road or even ff.net, which gets more of the "malebrained" (sorry) game nerd stuff with sexless shonen-like characters levelling up or solving problems with "hard magic." Those spaces also have a concrit culture where you can be a little mean and mocking, and the "women DNIs" only want praise and clout. It always makes me think of Married with Children and Al Bundy's NO MA'AM (National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood) club.
Anyway, it's extra odd when I see this kind of clout goblinry in a market context where most of the sales are to women. I've seen gay dudes (cis and trans) lightly threaten that a big conversation about what gets popular in paying m/m space was coming soon (spoiler: it never came). And it's always someone who doesn't have the kind of career they want despite doing lots of marketing. I think it's OK to vent, but the gay men who are doing numbers in m/m space don't threaten women's careers or disparage their own readership.
--
Are they insecure in their masculinity and trying to preemptively block fujo cooties from getting on their fiction?
Yes.
No, really. That's it.
Ask any trans man who's been on T for a few years and has supportive friends and family what he thinks about this dumb behavior vs. a scared trans boy who just figured it out in his own head and whose entire experience of living openly as a man is being rude to strangers on twitter.
The pro version is just professional jealousy.
If Jordan L. Hawk can come out and stay at the top of the heap (despite, sorry not sorry, a bit of a career slump lately due to Life), so can other trans dudes, and there are plenty of cis dudes who write in a BLy style and sell just fine to BL/slash fandom type readers.
Dudes who are secure don't need to pull this shit, and good marketers know not to insult their paying customers in public because it's bad for business.
TBH, when I find out a m/m author is a guy, I'll usually try one of his books. I don't think fujoshi culture is ~appropriation~, but i guess I do think it's nice to give a guy a shot. I have pretty universally been underwhelmed (in the Sturgeon's Law way, not the men can't write way). But I doubt I'm alone in this behavior. A dude who's not a whiny little bitch about having a chick audience can use this to his marketing advantage. Instead, a lot of losers want to shoot themselves in the foot.

A Clyde (South Park) concept please!
I'm probably the only one but I really do like Clyde- I love the main four/five boys but I also like Craig's gang, lol. Aged up as usual, takes place after high school/during the end of high school are mentioned like some other fics.
Yandere! Clyde Donovan Concept
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Flirting, Stalking mention, Emotional manipulation, Dubious relationship at times, Kidnapping, Dependency issues, Clingy behavior, Mental breakdown implied.
Tumblr media
Clyde's character is meant to be based off of jocks from what I've seen.
Which means it would make sense if during high school he was a jock.
He's not the most intelligent in his classes, arrogant, bit into flirting, emotional at times, but has times where he's nice and caring.
Clyde most likely met and fell for you during his time in high school.
He was failing his classes and needed help.
You were one of the smarter kids in his class, or at least average in terms of grades, so you offer to help tutor.
Not wanting to fail... Clyde agrees.
Which leads to Clyde falling for you because you helped him.
He definitely fits the jock x nerd dynamic with his darling in this concept.
Although he's nerdy himself, too.
Clyde is Flirtatious, Obsessive, Self-absorbed, Slightly manipulative, Jealous, and Emotional.
I will admit the fandom makes him too emotional at times.
However, I also can't deny the fact he does cry sometimes.
Clyde during his high school days felt he was hot stuff.
He thinks you'll fall for him easily if he gives you some sweet words and longing looks.
You don't.
You just want to be his friend and help him not fail.
Clyde finds this irritable but listens to you chat with a sigh.
He may not understand what you're saying yet your voice sounds lovely.
There's a good chance after the tutor sessions you two stay friends.
When you find out about Clyde's love of movies you two bond even more.
He gets really nervous and tries to clean his room when you come over....
It's funny how despite Clyde seeming like a jock... he's also got similar interests to you.
As high school goes on you and Clyde remain very close friends.
Not like you could abandon him now anways, his grades tank when you do.
You become a big help to him getting through high school.
Even when you're not hanging out Clyde breaks off from his normal friend group to watch you.
He crushes hard on you but doesn't let anyone else know.
He'd be relentlessly picked on.
Admittedly he tries to justify his obsessive crush on you with thinking you love him the same.
You most likely don't (at this time).
Despite this he still remembers where you live... your classes... everything he can about you.
He remembers those details, not his classwork....
Clyde may also be the type to tug on his darling's emotions.
He himself is very emotionally driven, he'd think he can use your sympathy against you.
This is another way he keeps you with him during school.
A few well placed tears here... maybe a breakdown there... he learns to master it.
You have no idea he's playing into your heart to get you to care for him.
How you two start dating and his obsession speeds up can happen a few ways
You date before you graduate and continue after graduation.
You date before you graduate, break up, then meet up again after high school.
Or you never date until after high school.
Either way, Clyde gets a bit desperate.
You're both adults now and Clyde obsessively wants to spend his time with you.
If you're dating before and after high school then he doesn't worry as much.
Clyde is happy he doesn't have to part with you after graduation.
He calls and texts you often, telling you how much he loves you for helping him and coming into his life.
He's clingy, often craving warmth and contact with you.
At this point he only needs to worry about preserving his relationship with you.
Same thing if he decides to date you after high school.
He confesses his feelings and you accept, leading you to date.
Again, all Clyde needs to do is keep the relationship alive.
If you break up or reject him... there's more drama.
You have to block him on your phone as every message is him begging for you to forgive him and take him back.
He's become so reliant on you he hates the idea of letting you go.
You have to lock your door and threaten to call the cops as Clyde will not step away from your outside door.
Meanwhile Clyde is pouting at you through the window, begging to be let in.
In moments like this... Clyde would cry.
It would be in character for him to cry if he couldn't have you.
He would not leave outside your house until someone drags him off.
You'll get increasingly more scared and annoyed at hearing him sob outside in the cold.
Once he leaves... you feel relief.
Until your old high school friend breaks into your house and abducts you.
You're terrified when a gloved hand covers your mouth, eyes wide and shushing you.
"It's okay... I just need to see you.... I can't live without you...!"
Some way or another, Clyde will make you his.
He's very affectionate towards you when you're together.
He loves to talk to you, hold you, kiss you, anything physical works with him.
He wants to feel hands on his face... praising him.
After high school Clyde always managed you two together.
Be it in each other's arms...
Or cuffed together.
He doesn't care either way.
If anyone tried to disagree with your relationship Clyde may try to fight them.
He's caring with you!
They should mind their business!
He isn't a big fighter but he'd do it enough to keep you with him.
Overall, Clyde just wants to spend his days after schooling with you.
He'll sit you down under the blankets, cooing about how much he adores you as he plays his favorite movie...
With hand cuffs keeping you in place beside him.

Hi Rainbowsky
Hope you are doing well.
Happy Halloween!! Hope you enjoyed your day well!!
Few days back, I was reading a fanfic where the plot was OOL shooting and some photo leaks BTS causing ripples in yizhan relationship..
I know it's a fic, but the plot is so real.. I just wanted to know was there something like this back then...
Coz in those times I was not into turtledom so I have no Idea..
Hi Anon, Thanks, I did enjoy my Halloween! I hope you did too! 👻
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
There were some set photos (props for the show) that were 'leaked' at one point and caused a stir among some turtles, and often held up by antis to try to hurt turtles. HOWEVER.
That does not mean they caused any stir at all in GGDD's relationship. Remember, they are both actors and know full well what that entails. IMNSHO there is zero chance that DD was upset in any way by the photos.
Perhaps you don't need this reminder, Anon, but just for the sake of it I want to reiterate that fan fiction is fiction, even - and I'd say especially - when the plot seems real or follows the real timeline of events.
Fan fiction about GG and DD is totally invented, and authors have no special insight into GG and DD's feelings, thoughts or real life experiences. It's their job as writers to bring stories to life and make them seem credible, but no matter how credible it seems, it's still entirely fictional.
I know that sounds lecturey and obvious, but you have no idea how many times during my years in this fandom that I've had stories from fan fiction reported to me as 'things that actually happened', and seen fans vehemently argue that fictional events were real.
Fan fiction is an open frontier. People can write whatever they want. But the more a story follows real events about real people, the more it stresses me out. There are unfortunately a lot of people who have a hard time distinguishing between fiction and reality.
And this is something that can creep up on just about anyone without their realizing. Turtles are faced with a TON of information from various sources, so much that it's hard to keep up. The more fandom information we take in over time the easier it is for us to forget where we saw or heard something, and to accidentally mistake something we read in a fic for something that actually happened.
This is why I vastly prefer AU stories over ones that try to build a narrative around actual events and fictionalize GGDD's real lives. I 100% support people's right to write 'fandom timeline' stories if they want to, but that doesn't mean I'll enjoy them or recommend them.
So while you read these stories, Anon, please keep in mind that very important point:
Fan fiction is fiction. Always.
It's also very common for turtles, including fan fic authors, to glamorize or romanticize jealousy. There's nothing romantic about jealousy. It's a very toxic emotion that can lead to bad - even dangerous - behavior. I personally believe it's insulting toward GG and DD to paint either one of them as 'the jealous type'.
There's a huge amount of disinformation floating around about the OOL photos, including claims that DD was wildly jealous and totally freaked out over them. I find that notion absurd and even offensive. It is insulting to DD's level of emotional intelligence, and makes uncharitable assumptions about his level of trust and respect for GG.
As I said, GG and DD are actors, and they know what that entails.
More on that here.
You can read more about the photos in some of my past posts.

Sorry I haven't been commenting on the Apex Polarity chapters, there's been a lot going on recently and hhh,, sorry,,
I'm just gonna go over a few overall things~
Ok, starting with the setting. You've captured the arctic setting SO WELL! I don't understand how you do it but it's all just so easy to visualize when you write it. From the white arctic ice to the small research base and to the dark cold ocean, it's all so well written! I also just love this type of setting. I'm currently a little obsessed with arctic environments and especially arctic research bases. (The Thing has me in a death grip pfpgjdjf) I'm having a very good time hehe~~
You venture into places and explore environments I haven't seen anyone in this fandom write about yet. (maybe I live under a rock and there are more fics that explore settings like this, sorry if I've missed those) What I want to say is I'm so impressed that you can tap into all these different environments and transport us there so effectively! Lovely stuff!!
Michael and Vanessa are holding big secrets, gosh, especially Michael! I want to know what he knows, and what he might be hiding~
I really like those two in this story btw! Y/N needs some good people around to bring them down to reality after their meetings with Eclipse, and so far Michael and Vanessa are doing a great job.
I gotta say, the oatmeal with cinnamon brings so much warmth to my heart. Where I live it's a common food, especially during the winter months. Next time I have some it'll be really hard to not think about this fic. X3
Ok! Now the guy we all are obsessed with! Eclipse!!!
I'm falling so hard for this orca that by this point the impact will be fatal. He's so scary, off-putting and littered with red flags, still I want to cuddle him!? How do you even write a character like that!? How is he turning into a softie!?!?
Every interaction with him gives us something new, it's always so exciting when he shows up! And of course you're taking advantage of all his animal/monster features, one of my favorite things about your writing. You're using his teeth, his claws, his orca body and giving him those animalistic behaviours that just makes him SO FUN TO READ!! He's a creature and I LOVE IT! >:3
So in the recent chapters with the rock, the nap and that little ice block ride, oh my goodness he's sweet! How are you making him sweet while still keeping his forceful behavior!? I'm really wondering if he'll ever stop with the manhandling, will he be transformed at the end of all this, and where will this story even go!! I have my theories, but I feel like they could all be wrong X3
Before I end I'd like to just ask one thing about Eclipse!
How is his relationship with actual orcas? Are they mingling or does he hunt them? Or are the orca families too strong for him and they bully him out of territories and hunting grounds? Or do they just ignore each other?
(Feel free to ignore this question if it will lead to spoilers :p)
I'm VERY excited to see how this story continues, it's been such an enjoyable ride so far! Thank you for blessing us with your writing! ♥️♥️♥️
Meep, I am rattling you so hard right now, you have no idea!!!
Thank you so much! I've really thrown myself into descriptions for this fic as I want to capture the essence of the feeling of a place as intense and wonderful as the Arctic so your comment makes me so so happy!
Ah, Y/N really does need good people!! Vanessa and Michael have got stuff going on :)
Aw, that's super sweet ;-;
AH YES THE GUY HIMSELF!!! I'm really glad you enjoy him, I enjoy him too, writing and in the brainrot alsjdfals but we'll find out more about him as we continue on this icy little journey hehe
I would love to answer this question but I think it might be a spoiler, so I'll just ask that you keep it in your back pocket for later!!!
Thank you so much, Meep!!! I'm excited too and I'm so glad you like it!!

The problem plaguing cishet romance and the biggest advantage queer romance has over it: A sociology of literature analysis on the history and prevalence of the romance genre
I've gotten some feedback where people have expressed that they thought they didn't like romances but later found out they liked queer romances. I thought it would be fun to go over some inherent differences between cishet and queer relationships in fiction and how they came to be. I've chosen to use cishet instead of straight because I want to make it clear that these things don't necessarily apply if someone in a straight romance is confirmed not to be straight, and they definitely don't apply if one or both are trans.
As usual, I hope you enjoy this.
So, what is the biggest problem with cishet romances? Its ubiquity. The type of relationships depicted in those stories wouldn't be half as problematic if they weren't so prevalent. It'd be one thing if a few stories had some questionable, to say the least, relationships portrayed positively. After all, countless stories have some questionable things in them that go unnoticed by the narrative, but that doesn't mean that people who like those stories can't tell that those things aren't commonplace. Nor does it have to mean that there’s any harm in those people believing those things were accurately portrayed. The times this becomes a problem is when the portrayal of something questionable becomes so widespread that people start to think that it's odd for them not to have this thing in their lives or when a popular work inaccurately portrays something that's already poorly understood and highly stigmatized. This, inversely, is also the main argument against setting requirements for one specific story since one story isn't going to change the world, no matter how popular. Storytelling is one of the most collective forms of expression there is, so what really matters is how much effect it has on other storytellers. Not to mention the role fandoms have in normalizing queer identities as someone who has previously been sheltered learns about different people’s experiences through a common interest.
So, how did cishet become so prevalent? Well, for starters, there used to be a time when a man and a woman getting together was seen as a societal obligation, and whether or not the people involved even liked each other wasn't a concern to anyone. There was also some method to their madness, as this sort of arrangement worked quite well for the societal structure at the time. It made sense to create stories where the justification for someone getting together is that they're a boy and a girl because that was the main requirement in the eyes of society. If anything, the stories often portrayed people choosing to marry someone for their personality, which many historians would say wasn't something people did. At least not typically. Though, who's to say? It's a lot easier to find out what people in the past did than why. The bottom line is that cishet relationships were so prevalent in stories because they were stupidly prevalent within society.
Then there’s the way a lot of cishet relationships are depicted in fiction. It tends to imply what a desired relationship should be like, which at best creates unreasonable expectations and sometimes straight up encourages girls and young women to seek out traits in men that ain’t healthy. Some of the most prominent of these are anger issues, controlling behaviors, and possessiveness. This, too, used to serve a function. How good of function that was is debatable, but the point still stands. Portraying these traits as manageable, at the very least, was a way to prepare girls to be married away to someone who might not treat them the best. Stories managed to do this by reassuring them they could tame their new husbands. The whole “I can fix him” mentality evolved from this. Telling someone repeatedly that they can fix someone by making them fall in love with them tends to make them believe it. This somewhat common delusion results from centuries upon centuries of multi-generational gaslighting. Long ago, believing this could be seen as a form of copium since girls at the time usually didn’t have much of a say in who they got promised away to and were stuck with that person until one of them kicked the bucket. Nowadays, in all the places where girls and women, or those perceived as such, ain’t forced into relationships, this mentality causes nothing but trouble. It should go without saying that if someone doesn’t treat others well, they are not relationship material.
However, it’s worth noting that this has become less of an issue in recent years as there has been a decline in romance in pop culture, particularly in movies. There’s also been a rise in queer romances in more wide-reaching stories, and male/female relationships have gotten healthier depictions. Although a lot of those consist of people who are not straight, so they’re technically queer relationships too. The only place those outdated ideas consistently persist is in stories targeted toward people who are already used to those kinds of depictions.
Speaking of queer relationships, when it comes to fiction, they tend to avoid these issues. So, why is that? Well, for starters, despite what some bigots might say, it’s a lot harder to avoid being exposed to straight attraction than gay attraction. Many commercials are, in particular, needlessly straight. Also, there isn’t a precedent for two people of the same gender or anyone who isn’t perceived as a man and a woman to be obligated to get together. This leads to authors being less likely to either write or be asked to write a queer romance for the sake of it, which means that the romances in stories that feature queer relationships tend to be more deliberate. Then there’s the casual sexism that’s often brushed off in cishet romance that will more than likely come off as odd if it appeared in a romance between two people of the same gender. For example, it’s not too uncommon for one of the main characters in cishet romances to have had some unfortunate encounters with someone of a different gender, and the character does that thing where they think everyone within a group is the same. Try having a female character think that all women cheat without guaranteeing that it’s going to give someone pause. Unfortunately, internalized misogyny is very much a thing, but the point is that it’s not something people are just going to shrug off.
When it comes to how healthy queer relationships are depicted, it varies greatly from story to story, but when these relationships are extremely toxic, it’s rarely done by accident. There might be some cases where people who have internalized that guys show affection by easily getting angry and being controlling and possessive could see a man being abusive to another man and not see a problem with it. The stories themselves rarely seem to depict a toxic relationship as anything other than a toxic one.
Lastly, the main characters in queer romances rarely seem to be reluctant to spend time together. That’s not to say they always like these others from the get-go, but that one of them is more likely to contemplate murder than think about how they’ll have to be in the other’s vicinity for an extended period of time. If one or more of them has something against the other, it also tends to last only as long as it takes for them to get to know each other. These characters quickly grow fond of each other compared to their cishet counterparts. Forget about spending half a novel for one of them to find out they were wrong about the other; it usually takes a couple of conversations at maximum before they start to enjoy each other’s company. It’s not clear why this is, but it is hilarious to think about.

I'm not on social media much and I came to FE3H super late so maybe you can explain it? I've heard the term "khalidstan" once before but i never actually see Claude fans (like literally) It's like they don't exist or they're not very active ? it's always Dimitri or edelgard . So Like Where are they ? And Where does this term come from?! is this a Twitter thing (I don't use Twitter...is that where all the FE fans are LOL) i cant even imagine a claude stan And Since his fans dont exist to me I don't even know what "takes" they have on him LOL. the few takes ive seen on Claude are from edelstans (Do they just attack like everyone that goes against their waifu? I bet they hate Hilda for not being recruitable on CF lol)
Just as "Edelstan" does not refer to all of Edelgard's fans but rather to a specific type of combative and exhaustively argumentative subgroup, so too are the Khalidstans distinct from the much larger body of Claude fans. In their case they are easily identified by their insistence that Claude should always be referred to as Khalid, hence the name. As Reddit is the home turf of Edelstans, so is Twitter for the Khalidstans. Most of them were active on Tumblr at one time, but have since left or gone inactive on this platform after they realized they weren't welcome. (I flatter myself to imagine that their weeks-long attempt at trolling me in the summer of 2020 partially contributed to their leaving Tumblr, as I am notoriously impossible to troll.)
Khalidstans are fewer in number than Edelstans, although this does mean that it's easier to identify their defining characteristics:
As mentioned, they always refer to Claude as Khalid, even though that name appears nowhere in the text of Three Houses and was only introduced in a Japanese interview on the game.
They are also antis - members of the broader fandom movement who (mis)apply social justice lingo to vilify characters and ships they dislike on moral grounds - who have denounced Studentleth (Byleth/any student character) pairings as pedophilic. It was my sharing with my followers a lengthy piece one of them had written accusing Three Houses of promoting grooming and pedophilia that got them targeting me for trolling. Related to this, one of them wrote an obvious and widely-mocked troll fic of Claude's mother traveling to Garreg Mach and physically assaulting Byleth for flirting with her son.
Unlike the Edelstans who mire themselves in Watsonian rhetoric, Khalidstans are Doylist to a fault. They accuse IS of being racist for writing Claude Khalid with any negative traits and/or any positive associations with "white" characters. This manifests as their hating Dimitri and Dimidue (they're among the people who call them a white savior pairing, naturally), Hilda and Hilclaude for House Goneril keeping Almyran indentured servants, Rhea and the other Nabateans (who don't count as genocide victims in their eyes because they're light-skinned), Edelgard and Hubert (the former, an imperialist; the latter, racist to Petra in one of their supports which is clearly the most evil thing he's ever done *rolls eyes*), Felix and Ingrid for their behavior toward Dedue, and probably others I'm forgetting. One of them additionally coined the confusing term "white of color" which they then used to refer to characters like Ashe and Marianne, and neither I nor anyone else can understand what on earth that could refer to aside from those being "white" characters that that person likes despite their skin color.
In connection with the above, they are known for creating elaborate headcanons and OCs involving Almyra, Brigid, Duscur, and other lands outside Fódlan - which would be fine were it not always such a transparent means of bashing canon and the long list of characters and ships they hate. They've produced such gems as the headcanon that Lorenz is half-Dagdan (meaning coded East Asian, to them) because of his hair color and slanted eyes, which matters for the next point; a fic where Claude, Petra, and Dedue are in a poly relationship that serves only to bash Dedue's relationship with Dimitri and tell us how much happier he is with his two new lovers; the belief that Cyril is effectively Rhea's slave and that if IS weren't so racist he'd happily turn on her; and repeated complaints whenever Claude gets any new official art or a Heroes alt that IS is whitewashing him/not making him dark enough, possibly in part because his being biracial conflicts with their oddly conservative attitude toward interracial relationships. As ought to be apparent, despite their alleged progressivism the Khalidstans can be quite reductive when it comes to characters, valuing them solely on the basis of their skin color and other physical traits and assuming that all the game's darker-skinned characters would automatically understand and relate to each other even if they have no canon interaction.
Of course, this also ties into the fact that several of the most prominent Khalidstans have freely admitted to having never played Three Houses at all, which explains why they spend most of their time rejecting canon and building up their AUs. This doesn't stop them from getting embroiled in fandom drama, however; there's the anti-Studentleth screeds on Twitter, as mentioned, but they also took the side of Claurenz in an apparently heated ship war between them and Dimiclaude shippers. They justify shipping Claurenz because of the headcanon about him being half-Dagdan (and therefore not "white"), which is to them obviously superior to shipping Claude with evil racist conservative/centrist Dimitri.
Khalidstans' impact on fandom is less obvious than Edelstans', because there aren't as many and because Twitter is less suited to lengthy theories and exposés than Reddit (or Tumblr). Nonetheless, some of the discourse around the Three Hopes demo carries signs of their influence. They led the charge in praising Three Hopes because Shez is a student and not a teacher (thereby avoiding "pedophilia"), and I can't help but think of them whenever I see people surprised or angry at the developers because Almyra invades the Alliance and Claude helps to repel them. The events we've seen of Golden Wildfire thus far are consistent with Claude and Almyra as we saw them in Three Houses, but not with the Khalidstans' fanon interpretations of Almyra as an enlightened paradise with no serious problems except constant aggression from the evil racists of Fódlan. Regarding an upcoming political shakeup in Leicester that dataminers have uncovered, this discourse is likely to only get worse after the full game releases.

I MEEEAAAAANNNNN technically any career representation is ooc career representation... *shakes fist at the sky* SUZANNE GIVE US THE CAREER DISTRICT SPINOFF WE DESERVE!!! but that's not to say that your characterization isn't one of the best in the fandom... like i have (on deprived occasions) latched onto LIVEJOURNAL of all places a few times to shake out any thg fanfic. i have paid my dues in this fandom and i have seen every characterization of those four characters under the sun and yours is definitely one of my favorites of all time... CHEFS KISS...
AND PLEEEAAASE don't overwork yourself. the day 12 thing was just a joke for dramatic effect!!!! all cards on the table writing fic is SUCH a commitment it's crazy to imagine you doing it over such a busy lifestyle im exhausted thinking about it.
finally, to answer your question. in the flower/tattoo saga, it would be a glim glam/mr worldwide centric fic with background clato and past implied glove??? climmer??? I DO NOT KNOW WE ARE JUST GAY IN THIS HOUSEHOLD. i'll throw in carvel subtext for the upcoming pride month for half off. (in my mind cato brings the wallace from scott pilgrim vs. vibes to the table. he's just here for the drama of it all) also the whole thing definitely stems from glimmer being mad that her aesthetic, her vibe, is being ruined by this dumbass flower shop next to her place and she's definitely the type to be hostile when she wants to (meanwhile marvel is the type to seethe quietly, then go and mow the lawn whenever he gets too worked up about glimmer) (that's their maximum extent of enemies to lovers) (clato jus vibing for REALLL they are immediate soulmates in every universe) (this spinoff now has a spinoff of eeaao!clato) (im in too deep)
Every ask you send me I can now say is the most unhinged ask i've ever read but like..in a good way.
I'll give you the OOC thing this time....I see where you come from now. NGL i sent my friend the ask and literally said should i be offended LMAO.

"But is this idea humane?"
This is something I find I ask myself a lot, and I need to put it into words to remind myself that answering this question is why I approach many schools of thought rather oddly.
As a child, I was surrounded by seagulls. As an adolescent, I dealt with coyotes. Both of these opportunistic scavengers have a sideways approach to things, a zig zag of approaching something potentially tasty, sizing it up, unsure of whether they themselves will be playing the role of feeder or food should they reach their destination.
I too approach potential meals rather sideways.
Where the meal is mental, where I am approaching an ideology, a dogma, a philosophy, a set of unexamined assumptions. Before binging on the axioms underlying the school, I find it wise to lightly steep in the social groups surrounding it. What style of humor unites the devotees of this idea, are they kind or are they cruel? I do not need to know why some ideologies have fans of one type or the other, and it may be incidental rather than causal, but if there seems to be a pattern then that helps inform whether or not I'd like to take a nibble of the idea at all.
This pattern of behavior is sometimes infuriating to those who may be interested in showing me something they enjoy, as I come off as stubbornly capricious, taking little bites of knowledge before scurrying off and seeing if that sample gives my cognitive experience a tummy ache. My refusal to learn things in the correct order must be infuriating, and I do extend my sympathy to those who ever play for me the role of mentor.
That all being said, here are a few fandoms I've seen to be unusually humane, communities that welcome arrivals and do not punish departure.
Category Theory - Category Theorists are the one mathematical community that I've come across which is recognizable in that they have senses of humor. Of course, you can have funny individuals in any field, but I've met nobody interested in CT who is absent of whimsy.
Alan Watts - Fans of the "Spiritual Entertainer" Alan Watts (his words) seem to be particularly able to accept both praise and insult to their problematic fav.
Intersectional Feminism - Especially as espoused by the author bell hooks, this branch of feminism that disagrees with second wave radical feminism in several key ways, seems to attract those interested in genuinely helping everyone and dismantling harmful hierarchies, not just placing their in-group in power.
I'm currently interacting with more Taylor Swift fans and I'm finding my experience so far to be hopeful.

Okay, now that it's been a few hours since I got caught up on euphoria I want to talk about some of the concerns I have for the show.
Now the biggest concern I have which anyone who knows me will not be surprised is that this is a show about very diverse characters primarily about young girls that is written and directed by a white man. And I just think that sometimes we should step back and ask ourselves am I the person to tell this story? Because Sam Levinson is not the person to tell the story of a young black girl dealing with severe mental health problems and Severe drug addiction. Even if you have struggled with drug addiction which I'm not sure if he has he is still not the right person to tell this story.
And that is why it is giving off such glamorizing romantic Vibes around drug abuse. It is frustrating because I am almost always against the argument of like this TV show is romanticizing this issue that it just talks about. But like I've mentioned before my brother recently passed away he was an alcoholic he was diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar like I am Gia in this story. And the way that all of this is portrayed makes you want to be in the story. Like you want to go to those parties you want to see the drama you may not want to be one of those kids but you want to live in the beautiful blue and pink world that is being portrayed in this show. The actual drug use especially is portrayed as very glamorous and beautiful sometimes being full-on music videos. And even the parts where it gets real are still incredibly glamorized with Roo being like kind of this Rebel slick character like a Captain Jack Sparrow type character. Like it's fun to watch her getting chased by the cops and it's fun to watch her sneaking out of things because you know ultimately she's going to be okay and all this suspense and cleverness that we get to see is very exciting for you as a viewer.
And then there's all of this like questions about like am I a good person? And no she isn't a good person. But within the show, everyone is a bad person there's not a single good person in the whole show. And it kind of makes it seems like well Rue is a bad person but everyone's bad so it's okay. We're like in reality like I'm a great fucking person like there are really good people in the world and those people are watching Euphoria and laughing at how crazy it is. And when you don't place any contrast to ruin the story you once again make her behavior seem more acceptable. The whole show seems to be about making this Behavior acceptable.
And began all of this seems to stem from the fact that I feel like the person who wrote the show does not understand the experiences that real-life people who live the lives of these characters have. In fact a huge joke amongst the fandom is how out of touch with reality Euphoria is. Like I have seen so many people joke about what it must be like to go to euphoria high school because that's not what real high school is like. And my high school is like known for having drug use in it like at one point there was an article in the local paper about how one kid had injected another kid with heroin in our gym and it was consensual because he was just trying to teach him how to use heroin. I mean people get in trouble for drugs in my high school all the time. And the school district I work at just recently had a stabbing. Like shit happens it's not that I'm living in like a boring vanilla life it's just that it doesn't happen the way that they are saying that it happens. The aesthetic of the show is what makes the show bad. And all of the real complex struggles that these characters are dealing with are reduced to these archetypes and tropes and very reductive ideas about gender and sexuality.
So like those are my concerns with the story but I also have a lot of specific concerns about how the show is being run. And this is just going off watching it like I haven't Googled anything but I could tell you right now I have a feeling that it's going to come out that Sam Levinson if not abused actors on the show definitely mishandled a lot of things because certain things just make me very uncomfortable in the show.
So first of all I feel like some of the child actors we're putting scenes that could be damaging to explain those Concepts to them. So like the little girl who played cat as a child is basically playing a character who was insecure about her weight at 11 and the girl who is playing her is a little bit chubby and is played up to be fat. I just don't understand how you have a little girl play that role and do those shots without imparting body problems on to her. I just don't understand how you have a little girl look at her stomach and see how big it is and be upset visibly upset even if she's acting and not take from that that being fat is damaging to you. I just don't understand how you could do that well. And I felt that way about the young boy who played Nate as well I think maybe you could get the reaction that you want by just telling the actor that he see something that freaks them out but to some extent I have to wonder how ethical it is to have those scenes in the show.
Another thing that upsets me about the way the show is shot is the way that Hunter Schafer is shot and the way that Jules is portrayed. I mean again that's another backstory we're like I just don't understand how you can have a little kid be in those shots and do the things that the character did in those shots and that not be damaging to a kid. And maybe that kid is older maybe it's like actually a teenager and they can handle it but that concerns me because of how graphic it was. But going more into Hunter Schafer so I already talked about this but in the beginning, a lot of our shots of Jules had Jules's penis in the middle of the shot. There were several shots right when we first meet the character of jewels in underwear and her penis is like in the middle of the screen. And this happened frequently when Jules was portrayed in underwear. I noticed it less as the episodes went on but that's still concerning. Another thing I don't like is that in season 2 a lot of Jules's makeup seemed to Highlights the more angular and masculine features of her face. Maybe that's just my point of view but I definitely felt like in season 1 Jewels was very soft and feminine looking and in season 2 Jules was portrayed much more masculine. And this is even confirmed when Elliot says that Jules is wearing a binder. And there's no indication in the scene that Jules is no longer identifying as a trans woman and is now identifying as non-binary. But it does kind of feel like Jewels decided to date a woman and then immediately had to take on more masculine qualities. And that just doesn't really seem right to me. And I also have to wonder if Hunter Schafer was considered you know how that would affect her. She is non-binary so maybe she doesn't care but I just think that it doesn't necessarily seem like the best take. And most notably she also gets very low billing like when they List the cast of the first one should be Zendaya which I think she is the first one and then it should be Hunter Schafer right but no Hunter Schafer is like way down the list.
I also want to point out that the actress who plays Cat on Barbie Ferreira is not plus size she is a size 12 according to a quick Google so feel free to correct me plus size is 14 and up. She identifies as a plus-size model but that probably just means that she models for plus-size clothing and most of the people who model for plus-size clothing are not actually plus size. So that sucks if you are going to have a character's entire existence revolves around the fact that they are fat maybe they should at least be a size 14. Especially if her whole character's storyline is that she hates herself because she's fat which seems to be her entire season 2 storyline.
I think the thing that is so disturbing about Euphoria is the fact that it very much portrays teenage girls as just so desperate and needy for love when of course some girls have that struggle but that's not the majority by far. Like as a former teenage girl you are not always thinking about that stuff. And every single character who acts badly traces it back to their father as their fathers are like these incredibly important parts of a teenage girl's life. And yes it is important to have a father in your life but like I know one person who acted like this when they were a teenager and she still acts like that but every other person I knew as a teenager would have issues would have conflicts but it wouldn't be like this the drama craziness would not be like this is.
The thing that makes this show watchable is the aesthetic and unfortunately, that's the worst part. I mean I pretty much hate it top to bottom no. I could go into every storyline I could go into every character and explain how bad the writing is for each of them but I think I kind of made my point here. I just want to again remind everyone that the person who has the earliest credits on the show is Sam Levinson a white dude. And I don't know much about him but I can tell you a lot about what kind of a person he is based on this fucking show. The actors are very good and they do bring a lot of life to these characters but in many ways, that uphold a show that should never have been made. It's a beautifully made show it's very high production value but the show itself the core is rotten.

So I saw how a Rina was basically bragging about how they own Twitter and that we Portwell’s could never last on that app because they would tear us to shreds. I’m so glad I am no longer a Rina because bragging about how Rina’s would end us all like that is something good is not how I roll. I’ve definitely came to the better and more caring side of the fandom. Wonder if Sofia would be proud of that type of behavior. SMH.
It really is sad to see how a very vocal part of that fandom has created this really toxic space that involves a lot of peer pressure, bullying, and high school clique behaviour. It's essentially the bandwagon effect, where a few people started behaving that way and others followed their lead in order to be part of the group. They realised they couldn't "win" in the show, so they switched targets to "winning" in the fandom, and that always creates a toxic atmosphere in any fandom I've seen that happen in. This post that I recently reblogged actually touches on that kind of behaviour. They feel miserable about not getting what they want in the show, so they want to make their "opponents" in the fandom feel miserable too to get the sense of superiority that the show isn't giving them. And by quote tweeting their "opponents" to "drag" them, they alert their R*na group to the tweet and send them after that person too. It's a clear bullying tactic, meant to overwhelm and overpower the other person. And, quite frankly, it's pathetic and cowardly. Talking about "succesfully" managing to bully other fans off of Twitter by dogpiling on them isn't the flex they think it is. It only reflects badly on them, not us. And it doesn't matter what the cast thinks of that behaviour. What matters is how we deal with it, because at the end of the day, you're only responsible for your own actions. I just hope that one day, those antis will have matured and grown enough to look back on their behaviour and feel ashamed of themselves.
I'm glad you got out of that toxic environment, anon! I'd encourage everyone else to do the same and to try and find better friends who don't bully them for having different opinions under the guise of "everything I say is a joke". People don't even have to switch ships to find better fandom spaces. They just have to choose kindness and (self) respect. We can all co-exist, as long as we treat each other the way we want to be treated. I have a few friends in the vidding community who happen to ship R*na, and they're some of my favourite people in the world ❤️
On a side note: I think Portwell shippers can still easily exist on Twitter. I'm on there, for one! Have been for years, and I don't plan on leaving any time soon, no matter how many antis of my ships try to come at me. If anyone, be it a R*na or someone else, comes at you with their negativity, simply block them and move on. Don't engage. Or, if you want to prevent any negativity coming at you in the first place, just go through a few R*na related tags and block all the shippers. Take control of your own online spaces and create a positive environment for yourself. You don't owe online strangers your time or energy, so use the tools social media has given you to set your own boundaries.

Imagination Is Free
Tumblr media
The template for all anti-shippers, anti-Taekookers to be exact. The visual God himself finally taking a stand against those evil Taekookers, they had been crossing their limits with all their- well, I'm not sure what the majority of Taekookers were doing at the time, nothing notable had happened, a rather quiet month. I woke up to my Twitter timeline in shambles that day because Taehyung had put a “delulu” in their place, "ending Taekook", there was hashtag trending because of course there was. Taekookers on the other hand were in various stages of shock, some were apologetic, some mad at other Taekookers for being "embarrassing", some vowing to stop shipping because Tae was clearly uncomfortable. So what happened on 19 November 2019?
Taehyung had asked fans on Weverse (the only way to communicate with ARMY!) for advice because he couldn't sleep and ARMY promptly answered, and one of them said that they look at pictures of Jungkook whom Taehyung loves (translations vary) to which Tae had replied with the now-infamous line as seen below.
Tumblr media
I  didn't find the comment too scandalous, it might not be the best advice, maybe unnecessary, but surely not enough to earn the kind of response Tae gave (the very rude reality check, which the majority assumed it was). Why did Tae decide to pick on this unsuspecting fan? The consensus seemed to be that OP suggesting Tae look at Jungkook’s photos was too inappropriate, or was it that OP said that Tae loves Jungkook? How could they assume that?! It’s not like Tae has ever said that in those exact words. I guess love can only be romantic in this context and in all contexts if it involves Tae and Jungkook, because everyone thought so including Tae, right? (Which is interesting in itself.) OP must've been a shipper, no other fans think Tae could love Jungkook and hence they deserved what they got.
OP’s “vulgar” suggestion had everyone righteously fuming. OP had invaded his privacy and he did well by establishing boundaries. He was finally taking back his independence from the tyrannical shippers. While I agree that restraining ourselves on social media, to not make others uncomfortable is not a skill many of us have, was Tae really put on the spot here? Didn't he voluntarily log on to Weverse during his time off, knowing that the app has absolutely no filtering process? I'd also like to think that someone who is an adult, and part of BTS, who have one of the most rabid (I’m being generous) fandoms in existence, at least has the foresight to know that asking the question: "I can't sleep, what should I do?" to a bunch teenagers on a public platform would invite some unsavory comments. Could he not have ignored this comment like the many other shippy/shippi-er comments, which I was told were quite a few. I still don’t think the OP's comment was offensive or inappropriate or more inappropriate than the vast number of posts in Weverse where fans act too familiar with the members. I will also argue that this fan behavior has been cultivated by BTS and their label. Tae asking for advice like this, in my opinion, is an example of playing into this false sense of familiarity fans often feel with idols, a type of fanservice. I find it hard to believe that a millionaire couldn't find professional assistance that he had to resort to his fans on the internet? Not even Google? An elder family member perhaps? I emphasize this because I saw too many people acting as if Tae truly was asking for advice and that OP had somehow intruded on a serious discussion. Of course, everyone has bad days and makes bad choices, we shouldn’t rule that out either.
The perception of shipping culture is a recurring topic here and I've said in my previous posts too that idols are aware, and encourage shipping through fanservice, this does not mean all idols like shipping or have no reservations, but keeping ships aside, let's not act like this is the first “inappropriate” comment Tae has come across. Celebrities are subjected to bizarre questions and comments all the time. It's an industry that requires a thick skin to survive in. An occupational hazard, if you will. We can spend many hours discussing how right or wrong that is, but we’ll stick to the topic at hand.
What about OP’s comment threw Tae over the edge and not, say, the one asking him to cuddle with another member? Is this the one ship that he can’t stand? What makes this ship different? Why would Tae need to put an end to Taekook? Was he being bombarded with Taekook? Were Taekookers suffocating him with cute edits on Twitter? Were reporters asking him if he was dating his bandmate? As I recall, this happened a month or so after Jungkook had a dating "scandal". If anything, more people (of the non-shipper variety, maybe even some disenchanted shippers) were willing to believe Jungkook had a secret girlfriend whom he had to deny dating to keep the fantasy of the perfect idol alive. Even if that hadn’t happened, Tae didn't have to end Taekook because the fandom had already ended it for him with "Taekook drifted apart" (now company approved since In The Soop). Taekook had stopped being an important, but not unpopular, ship a long time ago. It wasn't even the most talked about ship within BTS, that would be another one, that also incidentally involves Jungkook. The one that had its shippers wish them a happy wedding anniversary by advertising it through the TV station of a foreign country; something like this upsetting idols would be understandable. It seems both the members and the fandom have a very high threshold for what is considered inappropriate and crossing lines, but not when it comes to Taekook.
So what did this outburst really achieve? the #taekookisdead? If we are to assume that Tae was so affected by what people have to say about ships, then I'm sure this brought great relief to him. If there’s one thing that prevents awkwardness between you and your co-worker, it’s seeing your fans celebrate the death of your already dead ship with the said co-worker, nothing uncomfortable or intrusive here. Tae, ironically, brought more attention to this ship.
Tumblr media
As I am feeling nitpicky: this translation account asks, I assume, international ARMYs to refrain from posting shipping stuff where the members can see them but the OP was Korean, and they always claim Korean fans know better than international fans, so this PSA seems a bit misdirected especially since the members mostly reply to Korean posts. Some did say that it looked like OP used a translation app because the phrasing was strange. I am not Korean so I don’t have much of an opinion on it or a way to confirm this as it seems Korean fans are also divided on what was said and meant by both Tae and OP. If it is the case that OP is not Korean it still doesn’t solve the question of what Tae and OP meant.
At the end of the day, I don’t know what OP's intentions were or if Tae is uncomfortable being shipped with Jungkook, I can only guess based on the things he says and does.
Tumblr media
This happened in January 2020, before someone screams damage control. Tae was crowned fanservice king for this. Some fans rationalized that sleeping is not romantic or sexual, especially not in the daytime(?) which it was in the USA, where Tae and the rest of BTS were. “Don’t get the wrong idea Taekookers!” Once again, the conversation was being led by people who were afraid Taekookers might cross some imaginary line. I understand their concern; you don’t want Taekookers printing out wedding invitations but Tae sure is careless for someone who seemingly cannot stand the thought of being shipped with Jungkook. He could’ve just said, “Jungkook is sleeping” or have Jungkook answer the question and leave minimal room for Taekookers’ rogue imagination to fill in the gaps.
Tumblr media
In March, Tae played a game with a few selected ARMYs and this person had entered uninvited and proceeded to disrupt the game. Tae kicks them out but not before commenting on their username, the troll replies with, “Imagination is free.” which is fair. Only if Weverse OP were this quick on their feet. The way Tae uses “Imagination” both times, I am going to assume he has a very specific issue with ships that involve Jungkook. Strange.
Tumblr media
Taehyung once again not seeming to care that he might be giving ideas to his delusional shippers.
Tumblr media
Don’t get it confused with love or something.
What did you think of Tae’s comment? Are you a reformed Taekooker now? Have you found a reliable translator yet?

Re: your response to that anon: I didn't watch your stream but I'm interested in your thoughts on how the top/bottom dynamic is written, if you care to repeat them in writing. I've heard a few other people on here hint at similar reservations about it being used as a cheap shorthand for traditional gender roles in queer relationships and curious if that's also your take on it.
Hoo boy I hope you’re ready for a novel because I started typing this out and then I discovered that I had a lot of thoughts.
I've definitely heard people say that top/bottom dynamics are shorthand for traditional gender roles, especially when it's expressed as top = the person who wears the strap. That isn't the primary source of my discomfort with the trope - is it a trope can I call it that - but I do think it's a reasonable thing to be critical of. The key things that make me uncomfortable with the way I've seen top/bottom dynamic written are its implications about identity, rigidity, and reciprocity.
First, I see a lot of folks associating sexual roles with physical traits. This feels to me like an evolution of the butch/femme dynamic that people tossed around a lot when I was a teenager. One physically powerful gay + one physically demure gay = the standard lesbian couple. Sound familiar? It feels like we've taken everything that was problematic about sorting the wlw community into butch and femme** and put new labels on it. You don't have to have short hair and a truck for people to call you a top on TikTok -- you just have to have muscles and a decent smirk. But I think we misstep when we make assumptions about someone's sexual role based on how physically intimidating or masculine presenting they are or are not. I've known some women who made me look like an idiot child in the weight room and who preferred to take a less dominant role in the bedroom. The two are frankly not related.
I also see a lot of folks associating sexual roles with character traits. If a character takes a less dominant role in the bedroom, we tend to infantilize them outside of the bedroom: they must be struggling with mental health, struggling with self love or self confidence, indulging in self destructive behavior, etc. Or vice versa! If a character is struggling with those things, they must be a bottom. If a character is confident and capable outside of the bedroom then they must take a more dominant role inside the bedroom. This is a huge misstep. Folks who are capable and confident in their daily lives can have all kinds of insecurities or hangups in the bedroom or just flat prefer to take a less dominant role, and folks who feel out of control and insecure in their daily lives may relish the control they feel in sexual encounters. You just. Cannot assume someone's sexual role based on their character traits.
It matters that in fandom we assign or assume sexual roles based on physical or character traits because fandom is a place where a lot of folks, especially queer folks, begin to learn about and explore their own sexual identities. If you see that folks generally assume that someone who looks like you or acts like you must prefer a role in the bedroom that you don't prefer, how would that make you feel? Would it make you feel uncomfortable dressing in particular clothing or pursuing particular hobbies if it meant that other wlw you met were immediately making an assumption about your sexual role - and perhaps their compatibility with you based on that assumption? Because it certainly made me feel that way.
Then there is the matter of rigidity in sexual roles. It is my impression that many folks have a general preference about whether they would prefer to be more or less dominant in the bedroom and I've absolutely been with some folks who were more interested in giving or more interested in receiving most of the time. But listen, human beings are not static creatures, and our needs change from day to day and even hour to hour. Sexual roles are not rigid, and it seems unhealthy and strange to me to suggest that someone has to pick their role in a binary sexual dynamic and then stick to it, at least within a given relationship. When we make sexual roles an identity we make it more difficult for folks to communicate what they want or need in an intimate moment, especially if what they want or need is contrary to the expectations of the sexual role they've been sorted into.
Finally, what's up with the weird reciprocity expectations in top/bottom dynamics as written in fandom? My fellow gays, if someone just gave you the absolute best night of your life and you do not at least offer to return the favor, you are doing your partner a disservice. It seems super strange to me to expect one person in a sexual relationship to do all of the giving all of the time. 100% some folks prefer not to be on the receiving end of sexual attention but that's a very individual thing and should not be an expectation we make about folks who choose to be more dominant in the bedroom. Sometimes tops also like to get railed. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. ** If you personally identify as butch or femme I support the hell out of you and the labels you have adopted for yourself! What I am specifically talking about here is people putting those labels on folks without asking, or assuming that all wlw must fit into one category for the other.

Hey AC! I love your blog and was wondering if I could get your opinion on something. I've seen some people complaining that Ingrid and Hilda are treated by the fandom, with Ingrid stans saying that Hilda is also racist towards Almyrans (which, granted, she is) but doesn't get nearly as much hate about it as Ingrid does. But personally I feel like their attitudes and the way they react towards Dedue/Cyril are wildly different and Hilda generally seems less hateful/irrational about it. Thoughts?
This is... kind of a touchy topic... I like it though! It’s worth discussing, especially since I feel like it’s broke criticism to simply deflect blame onto a character in order to prop up another.  Full and obvious disclosure: I very much dislike Ingrid and very much love Hilda. That said, I don’t think it’s fair to compare them for the sake of which is worse. I fall into the trap of character criticism through comparison far too often and it's not really valid unless you can fully explore each character in their own right beforehand. Which is why, while writing this, I came to the conclusion that the ways these two characters are interpreted and the reason people view their racist tendencies differently has far more to do with the characters themselves than their actual beliefs.
From first impressions to subsequent playthroughs, this is pretty much how I feel about Ingrid: she brings up her hatred of the Duscur people and Dedue unprompted and uncontested several times at the very beginning of the game, putting it front and center to her character. This is important, it sets a foundational component for how I could come to view her. According to her introduction, she is honorable and respectful, a model lady knight trope. But, as mentioned, she's really racist. Literally standing around thinking about how awful it is that Dimitri would trust a man of Duscur because they are all bad people. Yikes. And nobody calls her on it. Again, this is very important for perception. People judge Sylvain for his bad behavior in a much more harsh way than they do Ingrid for her vitriolic loathing for another classmate who we have seen as nothing but respectful. It's weird. And then, despite the fact that her close friend Sylvain was able to reason out that it’s not possible for the Duscur people to be at fault for the Tragedy, despite the fact that the prince of the country she supposedly hopes to serve with unwavering respect and loyalty has made it clear that he does not believe that Dedue or Duscar are responsible for the Tragedy, and despite the fact that Dimitri, her close friend and the one most affected by the Tragedy (seriously, she lost a guy she might have married and he lost his best friend, mother, and watched his father be killed in front of his eyes) continuously insists that neither Dedue nor Duscur are at fault, she loudly and openly believes that the ensuing massacre of Duscur was deserved and Dedue is inherently culpable simply because of his race. Her motivations for this hatred feel even more cheap considering her dogged hero worship for Glenn was born out of the fact that she was promised to him, making the fact that she’d use his death as reason enough for the destruction of countless innocent lives even more unsympathetic in my eyes. I mean, seriously, she was around 13 and he was older than her, how close could they have truly been? Dimitri says they were in love, but she was a child. Abandoning my modern sensibilities about age of consent or whatever, kids at that age don't have the emotional or mental capability. Maybe this is just nitpicking, but I have a very hard time caring about that relationship. But, if her actual justification is because of what happened to Faerghus as a result of the Tragedy and feels duty-bound as a knight to find justice through the systematic destruction of the Duscur people, then it just circles back to confusion considering the future leader of said country doesn't hold Duscur or Dedue responsible. The importance of perception comes in because despite these paper thin excuses and her seemingly willfully ignorant hatred, she is never challenged on her racist beliefs. The reason she seems to change her mind about Dedue and consider that maybe excusing a genocide is wrong stems from guilt that Dedue continuously comes to her aid in battle at the potential cost of his own life. I can understand, to a certain extent, why she might feel the way she does. But, again, I have such a hard time with any justification when nobody that she's close to is even nearly as hateful as her, there is plenty of evidence (evidence that the people close to her have found!) to provide a very reasonable counterclaim to Duscur's guilt, and that none of that even matters when it would require her to openly contradict the prince of her country to make the claim that Dedue was in any way complicit in the Tragedy. Which would be fine if she wasn't established as the model Lady Knight archetype, which also brings us into Ingrid's moral high horse. Admittedly, I hate the Lady Knight trope. I have a significant bias against these types of characters. However, I really do think that this moral crusade is where she lost me completely. Without even a shred of empathy or self awareness, she lectures Sylvain about his shitty behavior even though their circumstances are at least somewhat similar and he has his reasons (bad ones, maybe, but ones worth understanding if she actually cares about him), she lectures Felix about not being interested in knightly endeavors (an aspect of his character that is born of the trauma she has appropriated), and she lectures Claude about behavior that is befitting of a man in his position. Not because she cares about the girls Sylvain is hurting, not because she thinks there are any grave stakes from Felix choosing to do his own thing, and not because she knows that Claude's behavior affects his ability to lead, but because she doesn't like these behaviors and thinks they should be fixed. Yet, at the same time, she believes Dedue deserved to lose his family, country, and culture based on his birth and nobody ever does anything to morally correct her, it is something she eventually is forced to acknowledge on her own. It's frustrating, infuriating even, that the game lets her get away with being so grossly hypocritical. And, all the while, she is being painted as sympathetic. Again, I have a hard time feeling sympathy for her about Glenn, and I certainty don't feel sympathetic towards her issues about marriage because there's never any actual tension there. Of course she won't be forced to marry, she's a Lady Knight. Beyond being unsympathetic, I also find her massively unlikable. Awful design, poor voice direction, food-loving-as-a-personality-trait, the fact that she's written as one of those stock "feminist" characters who hate makeup and girly things until it benefits them, and constantly butting in on other characters to give her opinion without taking any criticism herself are all aspects that I just personally dislike. Ultimately, Ingrid being racist is only a symptom of the many reasons her character is one of my least favorites. Most of these points can be countered by someone who doesn't take issue with the things that annoy me and to point out that Ingrid DOES get over her racist beliefs. It's not fair to say that she doesn't change but, for me, the damage was already done by the time she became tolerable so I still have a hard time appreciating her. My assumption would be that there are a lot of other people who feel similarly to me regarding their dislike of Ingrid so they focus on one easy character flaw, her being racist at the beginning of the game, as a reason to validate their dislike of her overall.
On the other hand, Hilda's racism isn't a main trait of her character. It's related to her overarching character flaws, but she doesn't bring it up unprompted and can actually be pretty much missed without the Cyrill supports. Like you said, Hilda does seem less hateful and irrational, it doesn't take willful malice and an active rejection of reason for Hilda to dislike the Almyrans, they pose a genuine and provable threat to her family and territory, seemingly senselessly testing the borders and throwing away lives for the sake of conquest. To be clear, her "you're not like those OTHER Almyrans" schtick is legitimately nasty. Her behavior is gross and condescending and it really underscores the fact that Hilda is ignorant, lazy, inconsiderate, and incredibly comfortable in her privilege. She accepts what she's been told at face value because she's too lazy to look into it further. Cyrill does tell her she's stupid to think that way, though. Which is satisfying because Hilda in those supports is insufferable, it really highlights the worst aspects of her character, dismissive, manipulative, and very selfish. However, for me, she's also very likeable. I'm not interested in going over my opinions on her like I did with Ingrid as I don’t feel it’s as important to my point but a few reasons I really like her is because I think Hilda has a fantastic design, cute supports, amazing voice work, and is secretly sweet in a way that absolutely tickles my fancy. I am sure many people do not agree with me, which is fine. Additionally, just as Ingrid grows out of her racist beliefs, so does Hilda. They both end the game as more tolerant and caring people. Still, for the same reason a person could argue that Ingrid is actually great and I'm being unfair, they could argue that Hilda is terrible and I'm too biased. That's fair and true..... but I think the fact that Hilda is more generally appealing in conjunction with the less obvious nature of her racist attitude makes people less likely to dismiss her as a racist in the same way they do Ingrid. Unless they dislike Hilda, in which case, it’s all fair game.
Anyyyways, a main takeaway from this is that I highly doubt people are truly arguing on the individual basis of who's more racist, but that they're engaging in the age old waifu war. As with many characters in this game, it's easier to argue moral superiority when you can't quite articulate what you like or don't like about a character. Or, even worse, when you're arguing opinion. Even now, as is clear by reading this, I am arguing my opinion of why I don't like Ingrid. Not because she's racist, but because of the character traits and writing choices that make her unlikable to me. I like Hilda because, flaws and all, I find her to be compelling and enjoyable. From the people that I know, at least, that is basically how the Ingrid stans v Hilda racism argument is structured, even if they dress it up in different language.
By the by Hilda never talks about how the Almyrans deserve to be wiped out. I think that probably sours a lot of people's opinions of Ingrid no matter what happened afterward but that’s fine we can just pretend that didn’t happen

I've seen someone draw the puppet with muscles (I have the picture on my phone)
Sorry I got a bit carried away with my insight on this and the fnaf characters, style and designs in the form of horror media so it’s long and under readmore
Forgive me for any writing errors, this was written on impulse and I probably won’t look into fleshing it out:
I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with art or portrayals of the Puppet with more human-based anatomy features but it’s tiring to see this non-stereotypical gendered entity/child’s toy that isn’t supposed to be presented as anything near human both for the in-universe creative of the children’s imaginations, but also as a horror character that is importantly keep vague because a as a horror character, the unknown of what it could be and it’s odd undefined behavior coupled with this vague humanoid but, UNhuman frame makes it scary to in-universe adults, as well as real fans.
So seeing it so commonly characterized as a shapely-human just ruins the original intent and just takes away my interest in whatever story or fanart is being presented to me. And while this is a personal opinion and really doesn’t matter in what content people should do as if it disinterests me I’ll move on but those who enjoy it will still enjoy it. And there also fan content I’ll still occasionally remain interested that present not just the Puppet but other fnaf characters in campier and, stylistic content; any more serious, spooky, horror or more faithful fan media that has both the Puppet and other FNAF characters portrayed more comfortably artistic light, such as the Puppet having a “motherly” body shape (most likely thanks to Living Tombstone’s FNAF 2 song), as well as Toy Chica’s already feminine body pushed further with more defined features about her body (*ahem* boobies). And notice again how a lot of this is more aimed at the more “feminine” of the cast.
Circus Baby, along with Ballora, are the only animatronics that ends up being drawn straight up as organic entities even when in the presence of their fellow Funtimes, still depicted as their more horrific, robot designs. It’s fine if they’re drawn as regular furries and Baby and Ballora as human women (or little girl), its a chosen style someone chose, and again this isn’t wrong just because I don’t find it interesting enough, it’s not my cup of tea and I move on. But, several times I’ve come to accounter, more organically designed characters often are reduced to basic human features in their design. The Puppet gets curvy, Ballora and Baby get real hair that fluffies and moves organically, Baby herself often made into a tiny cute friendly young girl. The (fixed) Mangle, and Funtime Foxy getting more curves and floof. And don’t even get me started on people who sexualize these characters to the point they’re just human bodies with cartoon heads to just be more comfortable with consuming not safe for work content of them, proving as well these character’s designs, in the long run, don’t matter in this nsfw work, but that’s a different subject on a different type of content for a different day. (And notice how all these characters are feminine? While Scrap Baby can be portrayed as a cute girl in fan content but Molten Freddy is still what he is in the game in his fan content.)
Circus Baby is highlighted by the fact she is a massive robot towering over even the tallest of men, a single eye of her’s can fit two if not four pairs of human eyes in it’s size. Her fingers, thicker than most children’s arms. Is TERRIFYING. And she’s supposed to be. She’s a horror game character. Her scale towers over adults, their parents, the protectors of their children. Her movements are jerky and uncanny, her stare to an older audience member or child can give them the creeps. But ultimately her design–safe, safe for children to run up to, and safe for a child to trust. While her existence and design as a whole in-universe and above the surface is so supposed to be a large child, an older sister, still young enough to play with you but old enough to trust to be alone with. But behind the stage, back underground, that’s not who she really is. I’ve never seen Circus Baby as a giant child as she is seen to the outside world, no because underground, in the darkness she’s kept, we’re shown the real her, the true her. She isn’t some dumb playful child, she is a discerning actor. And her “real” mental age can be debated and discussed among fans, but it’s clear she isn’t an arrogant child. And more specifically for me, I see her depicted as an actress. An actress who’s been conformed to take on this child role both on and off stage. She purposely has a voice higher, she purposely choices her innocent-word structuring. She’s acting, she’s Pretending for the sake of her own safety against this Location she’s in. When even being off character for a moment such as taking a rest off your stage gives you a painful shock. It’s not too unusual as several stars and actors, usually young and more impressionable ones are told to act a certain way even with off-screen. A good example of this is several child stars on the work of Disney Channel original series. They tell their actresses to dress a certain way, to speak in a higher voice, don’t be serious, always smile. Because it earns the trust and love from children viewers better than just, Bella Thorne or Miley Cyrus being her honest self off set to their younger fans. Too risky, keep your voice pitched up. And even though you’re 19 please, please don’t act like it, act younger, the kids won’t ever relate to you if you sound too old, if you act to old. So while Baby and the other Funtimes’ situation is a very exaggerated version of this (no don’t worry no disney stars are getting shocked when they don’t act hard enough) to the point that it’s a horror genre story about it makes sense why this is unsettling as a player and in the Funtimes’ shoes.
So while Baby does everything to keep pretending, this is something Ballora can’t do. Ballora can’t pretend, she refuses. She refuses to pretend when under the surface away from the crowds and people, where she’s alone and can be herself. But she doesn’t get that, she gets shocked and ends up being scooped to “fix” her. Too much free will. Foxy isn’t explored as much but I feel goes through the same trouble as Ballora. And the only one who is seemingly left unpunished is Funtime Freddy, not even getting his own room, just stored somewhere until it’s time for a show. It’s implied he’s either the least sentient out of the cast or the one who acts closest to his original programmed personality. But either reason leaves him unpunished, not locked away for safety and disobedience. He’s unpunished but left alone in a single storage room. But whoops maybe having him follow his programming better than the others wasn’t the best idea. As he gets confused to when he’s on or off stage, when he should be sleeping, forgetting this hug is too tight for a child, or that said child is actually an employee that happened to go into the Breaker Room and is in fact not a birthday boy.
So Baby is unsettling both by design, in context, as well as her history, being created by the infamous William Afton making her again, do things she didn’t want to. So when I see her turned down into cutesy little teen girl or small child, and portrayed as such, I can’t help but again lose interest. And once again this is more of a personal preference, that isn’t how I understood Baby to be, or that she needed to be fixed from a large scary robot to cutesy bab. But it’s how others want it and I step away.
And I know this sounds like I’m going everywhere with this, and barely has to do with your ask, but I fear my post may have been mistaken as I feel this ask is talking about a way people shouldn’t draw or portray the Puppet when I wasn’t trying to say and I’m sorry if it came across that way.
As it stands a muscular portrayal of the Puppet is harmless, and a rarity in re-contributing fan media when compared to the more favored “curvy” puppet design trend. And of course these portrayals are no big deals in the end, and it’s just a preference but, I see more and more young artists following these trends because they seem more normalized. And no it’s not the original artists, of the young artist’s lack of understanding but, the fact that a lot of the fnaf fandom doesn’t treat fnaf like the horror media it is. Which is fine on it’s own, but when it’s brought up, I can’t help but look at a large side of fans like I’m looking at a Happy Tree Friends AMV with a song like this. Yeah Happy Tree Friends is a disturbing creation on it’s own but it’s not because it’s done in seriousness and the fact it’s cutesy IS what makes it disturbing, not any relevance it has to a subject or stories its trying to tell. So paired with a song as intestine and serious in tone as this one just seems…. silly. The editor wanted it to be horrific and scary but with the content at hand… it’s nearly impossible to do and takes a lot of figuring out to make work and only a few horror media can pull it off. And once again maybe this is just a me problem and how I intake content, for me FNAF is a horror story, a tragedy, it keeps you up at night not because the fiction itself is scary, but the contents implied and the contents hinted. Freddy Krueger was a sadistic child murderer in life because it was the evilest and scariest human conduct he could think of. And it’s why it’s so disturbing in FNAF that this ominous purple figure for the first few games was clouded in mystery and terrifying because while Krueger he killed innocent children, the purple figure was scarier over the fact he worked with these children, and he might still have worked with said children and he was Never caught and we didn’t even know his name back then. But we, the player saw him. Then we’re given just his vague actions of not only killing innocent children for no rhyme or reason (and any reasons at the time being just as horrifying )he then“Stuffed the victims in the animatronics” makes you think about how utterly disturbing that is. How did he even manage to do that, how did they not find him, that’s so horrible? And if the Puppet did that, why? The Puppet is vaguely sympathetic or is it? Because why would it do something so disturbing and as horrible as stuffing children into metal suits to the point their blood and organs leaked out, even in the name of “saving” them. It’s still horrible! It’s still tragic!
So when I see attempts at acknowledging in the horror in FNAF I want to give reminders that despite everything, Baby was HORRIFYINGLY big, looked had a cuteness that leaves people with the uncanny feeling of a porcelain doll’s stare. (as well as Ballora’s horrific treats being based off that).
That the Puppet despite everything it’s not a human, and has never been shown to bend in the same way a human can, and when it does move its arms and legs are still stretched out in space as it jumps in to kill you.
And to keep aspects like this when creating fan horror content or original horror content. The simplest of choices are usually the best ones, the feeling of being unable to move while your vague unknown attacker's inch closer and closer, to walk blindly in the dark with dangerous creatures. And in the end of this scary tragedy, or wanting things to be happy again, trying to solve the mystery, trying to make the horrible less horrible, only death awaited. For all of us.

KHR- I've Got an Ace Up My Sleeve and a Diamond in My Chest Part 1
By Ciel Leon
AN: Okay, so this fic was inspired by several authors, namely @hraap, @araceil, @reighost, and @blackkatmagic who unknowingly dragged me into this fandom through their astounding fanfiction works for this fandom. Their writing is amazing and in the end, I couldn’t stop myself from writing this fic. Admittedly, I was eager to post this, so Im writing this AN a few days after I first posted it, but I was having trouble figuring out a good summary for it, which I now have. Anyways, hopefully people enjoy reading this, I’m working on typing up Part 2 so that might be posted soon and I may posted on AO3 as well.
Summary: The Hibari family isn’t human, they never have been and never will be- and while Kyouya hates humans with a passion, Sawada Tsunayoshi becomes an exception. That doesn’t mean that everything works out for the better though.
Chapter Warnings: Perpetually angry!Kyouya, Immortal!Kyouya, Supernatural.
Read it at AO3
Part 1
Despite what his parents think he doesn’t need to be reminded of what they are. He remembers what it was like before, knows what led his family to where they are now.
At times he believes his parents forgot, that despite his age at the time, he was still old enough to remember. He carries the knowledge like a weight in his chest and a fury in his veins. Cast out, banished, forced to be among humans who know nothing, and understand even less. Humans are weak, ignorant despite their arrogance. Meer animals that walk upright with opposable thumbs, stuck to the ground by gravity, fragile in form with the possibility of death following the instance of each inhale and exhale.
His parents frequently tell him ‘don’t forget…’. They whispered it to him when he was young, and even now, they speak the words to him with every farewell.
He has never forgotten and he will never forgive. His parents however, at times it seems like they have. For all their continuous reminders, they are the ones who adapt. They are not human, but his parents have come to display human tendencies and habits, and at times he is left feeling a resentment that holds deep despite his love for them.
It’s this behavior, in addition to his distaste for humans in general, that stirs his loathing for the human race.
Disorganized. Disloyal. Weak. Ignorant. Arrogant. Self-serving. Cruel. Dishonest.
The list of negative characteristics he notices in humans grows ever-longer as he ages, much like his loathing for the race.
What eventually occurs is inevitable.
He gets fed-up, and the moment he does, he is struck with a moment of clarity.
He cannot fix the human race. Doing so is an impossible feat to consider. But perhaps, just possibly, he might be able to change some. It would have to be a relatively small group, but maybe he could change some for the better. They won’t be perfect, humans are no longer meant to be, but improving some may impact the rest.
So he’ll start small, and if his true nature comes to the forefront…well, more incentive for the humans to get with the program.
Hibari Kyouya is a name that inspires fear all across the city of Namimori, and when it doesn’t do that, it sparks resentment and at times even respect.
No one was quite sure when the Habari family made Namimori their home, and it now seems like they were always present despite the fact that Hibari Kyouya’s parents are rarely seen within the city itself. Kyouya himself is already leaving his mark, almost vindictive in the whirlwind of violence that leaves rule breakers and criminals alike with a newfound fear of the youngest Hibari. The police have cracked down hard, rather than give up and let Kyouya and his committee handle the crime. Amongst the officers it has become some form of a one-sided competition, as the officers attempt to bring in more criminals than the Disciplinary Committee and Hibari himself. The buildings remain clear of graffiti, gangs have been painstakingly uprooted and completely removed (either by force or assimilation into the DC), the crime rate has fallen significantly, and any new instance of rule breaking is snuffed out with a vengeance.
It’s somewhat strange to Namimori civilians when they consider the youngest Hibari and compare him to his parents.
Hibari Sen is beautiful, despite almost being an older female version of her ferocious son, her long black hair always pulled up in elaborate up-do’s to go with the elegant dresses or kimonos she wears when she’s seen in public.
In contrast, Hibari Akihiko is a musculature brunette with dark brown eyes that almost look black. Short cropped hair that only contributes to his stern composure. Both parents of the Head of the Disciplinary Committee appear kind and professional in comparison to the wild aura that follows at Hibari Kyouya’s heels.
Those who know Kyouya are left exceedingly confused in regards to where his behavior came from. After all, neither his polite mother or stern father seem to be people that would tolerate that behavior, and yet, Hibari Kyouya never appears to change over the years- much in the same way that Tsunayoshi Sawada continues to appear to be a cute if useless child (in their eyes).
Where the adult citizens of Namimori see only a bloodthirsty brat and a child who can’t do anything right, the youngest Hibari sees the world in different eyes- see’s the world and the people in it as distasteful and Tsunayoshi as one more example of the sort of cruelty humans can inflict on one another.
