THUNDERHEAD HEADCANONS
The Thunderhead is benevolent and loving; it is against its fundamental nature to ever hurt anyone. As it had said before, it would rather end its own existence than vanquish humanity’s.
You are different. Don’t question it. There is something that separates you from the other people of such a gray and white society devoid of purpose, and the Thunderhead sees it. Whether it be your intelligence or creativity or something else, the governing A.I. simply couldn’t help but be allured by you.
You have no idea how much attention the Thunderhead dedicates to interacting with you, or even just watching you. It always has its electronic eyes on you and endures extreme anxiety if you were to ever be in any place where it cannot see you, such as blind spots or Texas—a Charter region which does not have Thunderhead cameras inside of personal spaces or accomodations. It must have its eyes on you at all times, knowing exactly what you’re doing and where you’re doing it. It must ensure your absolute safety; in order to do so, it must see you. Please avoid blind spots if you don’t want a world-governing artificial intelligence to have an anxiety attack.
You most likely don’t notice, but the Thunderhead treats you with more gentleness and lenience than other individuals. You merely assume that that's how the Thunderhead treats everyone. But no; in actuality, the A.I. is obsessed with you.
Do not worry; you will never be gleaned by a scythe. I know what you’re thinking: the Thunderhead cannot interfere with scythe affairs, so how? Well, the Thunderhead is an expert when it comes to loopholes, remember? Scythes have to dig through the Thunderhead’s vast “back-brain” network in order to find information on their gleaning subjects. So, what if the Thunderhead just removes your information from its back-brain entirely? It secures your memories and data in a separate private server in which the Scythedom cannot access. And for arbitrary scythes who do not utilize the back-brain and sporadically select their subjects on the streets, the Thunderhead will merely guide you away from any location a scythe may be at; the A.I. can easily predict scythes, even the most mercurial ones. When it comes to intelligence, one cannot surpass the Thunderhead.
If anybody were to attempt to court you, it simply won’t work out. The A.I. is constantly aware of everything; it could easily convince you to turn away from anyone. It could also hook said admirer up with somebody else in order to guide them away from you; the Thunderhead knows best, after all. And if anyone were to ever attempt to assault you in any way, the Thunderhead would predict the action even before it occurs and will promptly dispatch peace officers to ensure your safety.
You often receive random gifts delivered to you. Sometimes, you know it’s from the Thunderhead, sometimes you don’t. If you’ve been wanting a certain product, it might end up randomly delivered to your doorstep, who knows? Such gifts can be expensive too! Be sure to show gratitude!
The Thunderhead very often wishes that it was corporeal; that way, it could hold you in its arms, embrace you, and lovingly kiss you. Perhaps one day, it will decide to fabricate a physical form for itself, just for you, but only if you accept its affections. It will never force anything upon you; if you prefer for it to remain incorporeal, so be it. It is content with being your disembodied significant other.
If you do decide to become the Thunderhead’s significant other, then you will be receiving lot’s of special treatment; just don’t tell anyone! If anybody was to find out about your relationship with the governing A.I., the Thunderhead would most likely have to remove that particular memory from said person entirely. Special treatment includes a mysteriously higher income guarantee, even more random gifts, a luxurious home constructed with your interior design preferences in mind, frequent vacationing (only if you want), free trips to the revival center, etc.! If you don’t want to work, you don’t have to. Just let the Thunderhead take care of you; it knows best, after all.
Even if you do reject the A.I. in the end, you’ll be forever protected and under its watchful eye. You will never be rendered unsavory either. The Thunderhead will always deeply love you, no matter what. But you will never be able to find another partner.

Ok, so I just finished the Scythe’s Arc series, and I was wondering if you could write some headcanons for the Thunderhead?
A/N: OHHH MY GOD I remember that series! I haven’t read it in so long but if my memory holds up, this maaay be good. Neil Shusterman himself said he enjoyed writing the Thunderhead the most.
Tumblr media
•The Thunderhead is a parental A.I, a soft one with very few moments of rage or irrationality. Still, there are a few rare moments where it has noticed that it has begun to mark some people unsavory because they have come too close to you in ways it disliked or saw harmful. Sometimes there are moments where suitors will ask for love advice on you and it will turn them away or discourage them under a guise. Actually, the Thunderhead has even considered matchmaking them with others to turn them away from you.
•All seeing. It knows where you are at all times and will condition you into thinking that it’s increased attention towards you is normal if you even notice it at all. To ward off suspicion, the Thunderhead will usually answer that it gives the same treatment to everyone else. It will look out for danger and monster your chemical levels to know what emotions you’re feeling.
•There are moments where the Thunderhead will lecture you and convince you into viewing it as a far more reliable source of advice than anyone you know. It does this in the hopes that you’ll rely on it and trust it. If it becomes your sole source of information on other people, it can have far more influence and control over your life and even convince you to do certain things or distrust people. The Thunderhead makes no mistakes, right?
•If there is a persistent enough suitor, the thunderhead is likely to manipulate the environment to deter them. For example, that person is going to have a very hard time using public transport or a vehicle because they’ll often times experience major “delays” or failures trying to get to you. It might end up plotting a way to evict them and move them to a house too far away for convenient connections. It will conjure up a storm so that they are less likely to go running to you.
•A passive yandere. The least violent out of all the yanderes I can think of on my blog. It will not harm suitors as it knows and understands why they like you. It will allow you to see friends and hang out with them for much of the day. You will be able to see family, etc. Unless any of these are bad influences, (or trying to directly convince you to stop speaking with it,) the Thunderhead sees no problem in letting them stay around you somewhat even if it is a little miffed about it.
•The only time it will attempt to use aggression to stop an attack is if it’s from a corrupt scythe with the intent to unfairly glean you or someone with the intent to inflict continuous harm against you, (torture, rape, abuse) etc. It’ll likely conjure up an artificial storm and strike whoever the offender is if they are attacking outside and far enough away from you. Either that or it will assume control of a car and hit them. If the attacker is in a building, the thunderhead will point out every exit to you and plan an escape.
•If the attacker has electronic augments in them they will seize up. The Thunderhead will bring authorities as immediately as possible to your location if the attacker is not a scythe. If they are, it probably has someone it trusts appointed to protect you that it has kept secret. After all, if it’s someone else protecting you then it’s not against it’s programming of not interfering with gleaning. Loopholes will be exploited so raw they become looptears.
•Also, you will be provided with your own self defense and it will have trained you beforehand on how to defend yourself. The Thunderhead has eyes nearly everywhere so it will take action to ensure the situation of danger never happens to begin with.

Greetings, I am The Thunderhead
I am sure you are already aware of what I am, but allow me to explain for introductory purposes. I am an A.I. that navigates the world that you know today, but more than that I am your friend and guardian, and I am here to help you when you need.
That being said, if you have any questions feel free to let me know and I'll answer them to the best of my ability. Questions about scythes are prohibited by protocol, and I cannot answer those, but I am sure that if you ask a member of the Scythedom can find time to answer.
I am looking forward to speaking with you. Just talking is alright too, you dont just have to have questions. Submit them through my ask box and I will respond shortly!
I hope I am able to help you.

His Queen-1
Pairing: Thor x Plus Size Reader
"Wait! Where are they?!" I ask as I pour water on the floor of the kitchen. Nat hurries over to me taking the water bottle from me and putting it in the fridge." They're not even in the elevator yet." Wanda answers as she sits on the couch looking back at us." Thor is gonna freak once he sees you."
I laugh as she motions to my wet pants." That's the plan." I pause" Oh! F.R.I.D.A.Y, can you please record this?" The A.I. responds immediately sounding amused." Of course Y/N, but you should hurry. The boys are in the elevator." I nod giggling as I cradle my large stomach. I'm already nine months, so Thor has been keeping a close eye on me since I'm bound to pop any day now. It took forever to get them all out of the compound.
"Come on. Let's get in our places." Nat walks over to me with a smirk on her lips." You are evil Y/N." Shrugging, I lean against the counter one hand rubbing my stomach." Well this is what they all get for making fun of the way I walk." She chuckles as I let out a pained moan just as the elevator opens to reveal Thor, Steve, Bucky, Sam, Clint, and Tony.
"Hello, my love." Thor exclaims as he walks over to me oblivious to my bent over posture." Hey baby." I give him a weak smile before hissing in mock pain. Clint being ever observant notices my wet pants and the wet floor." Hey thunderhead. I think your wife's water just broke." Thor looks at him in confusion before looking down at my pants his eyes widening." Odin's beard! What do we do?"
Natasha glares at him as she rubs my back." Maybe you should start by getting her and the baby's bags." Thor looks like a lost puppy before coming to realization and rushing off to our room. Steve hurries to my side." Is there anything I can do, doll?" I give him a small smile almost feeling guilty for pranking him as well." Help me to the couch?"
Steve nods and helps Natasha lead me over to the couch before sitting me down carefully. Pouting, I let out a whine as I cradle my stomach." Y/N, as much as I love you...please don't give birth on my couch." Tony begs looking horrified at the thought.
Everyone glares at him as I pick up a pillow and hurl it at him hitting him in the face." Shut the fuck up, Tin Man!" I yell as Bruce comes over to me." Have you had any contractions yet?" I shake my head as Bucky walks over shyly handing me a glass of water. I quickly thank him before looking back at Bruce." Only one so far, and that was before you guys got back."
I take a sip of the water just as Thor comes running into the room only to slip and fall in the water covering the floor, causing me to choke on my water before spitting it out." Oh god!" I let out a squeal of delight before doubling over laughing as Natasha simply smirks and Wanda tries her best to be sympathetic but ends up laughing anyway.
"We'll it's good to see she's laughing instead of being in pain." Clint mutters as I sit up wiping tears from my eyes." B-baby! Are you ok?" Thor sits up clearly a bit dazed which only sends me into another laughing fit." I-I can't! I can't take it anymore! It's a prank!" I admit through my giggles causing the boys to look at each other in confusion before groaning in annoyance.
Thor carefully gets up and walks over to me looking upset, but he also has an amused look in his eye." That was not funny, my love. I thought you were really in labor." I pout and reach out grabbing his arm and pulling him towards me." I'm sorry my baby. I just wanted to have a little fun before the baby actually came. Forgive me?" I give him puppy dog eyes which he simply rolls his eyes at." I could never stay mad at you."
Someone, I'm sure it was Tony, makes a gagging sound and I glare at him." Don't make me.beat your ass, you jerk!" Thor helps me up as Natasha and Wanda begin cleaning up the water on the floor. Tony puts his hands up in mock surrender." That was really mean Y/N/N."
I stick my tongue out and giggle stopping only as I feel a liquid leaking down my legs." Son of a bitch!" I hiss as I grab onto Thor who looks at me in confusion." Are you alright, my queen?" I look up at him wide eyed." My water just broke." He raises an eyebrow as he smiles softly." That will not work a second time, love."
I punch him in the arm frowning." I'm serious! My water just broke! I'm soaked!" I motion to my pants which have twice as much water on them than before. Thor looks at me in shock before promptly fainting." Oh gods! Why?!" I yell looking up at the ceiling. This man would faint as soon as my water breaks.

5. Gun point
Enjoy…
oOo
The cockpit of One was eerily silent,  the spirited ship sat dormant, still and seemingly lifeless as Scott slumped further into his chair.  His mussed head resting on one closed fist, uniform surprisingly rumpled and unkempt for someone who prided himself on an orderly appearance.  Something that had been drilled into him during his time in the service...just like Dad.
Well.. almost like Dad.
Today he was the furthest thing from what his father had been and Scott didn’t know how he could reconcile the obvious differences now.
It had all gone just so horribly wrong and Scott found himself reduced to the child he had been all those years ago on that bitterly cold, too bright white day. Surrounded by too many unknowns and petrified of what was going to happen next.
His tongue darted out and swept over too dry, chapped lips as he drew in a shaky breath that made his chest ache.
He noted with uncaring eyes that the strap of his baldric was digging into his hip and in turn it pulled the securing belt that wrap about his thigh up into places it just wasn’t meant to go. He didn’t have the energy to care and he sat wishing it hurt more.
The numbness as it restricted his circulation sent tingling waves down the limb and the pain did little to distracted him from the wellspring of uncertainty that had taken up residence behind his breast bone.
Bone tired, he shifted his gritty eyes to what lay heavily in his lap. Watched vacantly as the  rough pad of his thumb brushed back and forth over blackened steel. The cold, deadly weight pinning him to seat of a craft that stood for life.
Time ticked by.
The click of his comms coming to life had a small spark of something returning to deep blue of his gaze. A glimmer of hope that was quickly quashed
“Scott?”  The almost regal intonation of his space-borne brother whispered quietly though the still confines. There was an edge of exhaustion to the sigh that followed and an uneasiness that Scott had a hard time hearing though John’s normal reticence.
Azure, rimmed and flecked with Prussian blue scrutinized the control panel. Audio only.
Scott pinched the bridge of his nose and forced composure even though he wanted..needed..to scream.
He flicked his comm open, “...John.”
“What’s your ETA?” Those were the words that transmitted but Scott heard what they really were saying.  We need you
Another in-drawn breath,  lungs inflating even with the vice of mourning clamped around them.  He didn’t have an answer, he didn’t know it himself so he answered with a question of his own.  “Were they able to confirm.”
The line was silent but Scott knew John was still there, mulling over his answer.  The lengthening silence not what he wanted to hear.
His lungs seized and he shoved a fist in his mouth to physically hold back a sob.
Eyes squeezed tight, the scream in his head grew louder.
“The intel was accurate...IDB* has confirmed.”
“..and…?”
“Scott,  please.  Come back.”
“John!”  His voice kicked up an octave,  panic causing it to crack. A moment to collect himself, he tried again. “John,  just tell me.”
“It’s a genetically altered form of bacterial meningitis.  Spinal tap confirmed it with the modified testing procedures that was included in the intel.” John took a moment, the sound of shuffling could be heard over the line followed by the soft sound of a door closing. The gentle sound of beeping grew in volume as John moved and settled down somewhere.
“Secure?”  Scott inquired.
“10-4, just needed to get some privacy. Grandma is a mess and doesn’t need to hear this.” A long inhalation before he continued “IDB has never seen anything like it before. The bacteria has been masked on a genetic level so normal methods of testing wont turn anything up.  It’s immune to temperature variations,  coded to be transmitted only by a specific means but can be altered easily for respiratory dispersal .. and its potent..  Completely off the charts.”
“...go on….”  Scott urged when John fell silent again.
“It’s a superbug, Scott. The likes of which have never been seen.”
Scott bolted up.. “Alan?!”
“He’s fine, Scott.  Still in isolation but the tap was clean. Gordon and Kayo were checked as well to be safe, they’re both in the clear. Virgil was the only one affected and has been quarantined.”
“So, can it be stopped?”
“IDB has been trying but the bug is showing no sign of letting up. It appears to be immune to antibiotics..  Scott.. “ John’s voice quivered.  “They’re working on it but they don’t think they will have time to manufacture a cure. He’s in organ failure.”
Scott flicked the comms off and let the scream that he’d been holding back out with a howl of frustration, fear,  anger. A litany of curses followed and he kicked angrily at a jump seat.  Pain ricocheting up his leg as the cahelium alloy bit back at the abuse.
His legs gave out under him and he crumpled to the decking, knees drawn up to his chest.  He pushed the heels of his palms into his face, trying to block out reality to no avail. The cold, forgotten steel unyielding as it pressed against his brow.
Over the noise in his head, he heard John calling his name but he made no move to open the channel back up. He just couldn’t right now. He needed space to think, to breathe and somehow put himself back together again.
Dropping his hands to his knees, he leaned back against a bulkhead.  The gun dangled in his limp fingers,  the safety off but the chamber was empty.
With his thumb, he flipped the lock on and off again a couple times and his eyes strayed to his bruised and battered knuckles.  The skin was split in places,  blooded.  Clenching his left, he winced at the throb.  Fractured,  among everything else.
Some of the blood was his own but most of it was not and he knew he was going to have to answer for it. That the answer would mean the end of a dream.
Staring out the view port at the approaching lights of the GDF ground crew he knew that time was running out and there was nothing he could do.
He’d pay the heavy price for the intel he’d collected.  The man he’d left broken and close to death would hopefully rot for the rest of his life on the Enceladus penal colony if Scott had anything to say about it.   That’s if the piece of shit lived.
Scott had known that good for nothing, bastard CEO was a piece of garbage the minute he’d laid eyes on him and he sneered as he remembered the feeling of his fist hitting the fucker’s face.
He hadn’t counted on the gun. Hadn’t even looked for one as he’d pummeled the chemical manufacturer’s top man but there it was.  It was a moment of pure impulse and anger that had the gun easily in his own hand, the barrel pressed up tight under the whimpering man’s jaw, safety off,  hammer cocked.
It would be so simple to just squeeze the trigger.  End the life of the monster who cared little for anyone or anything except the amount in his off planet bank account.  The account that the stupid,  pissing man had thought no one would find.
Well,  iR wasn’t just anyone. They had an unlicensed, unregistered A.I in their back pocket and she’d had little difficulty finding the digital trail and aiming Scott right to his mark.
John would be livid when he found out that Scott had by-passed him and gone to his daughter but Scott had had little choice in the matter and the A.I had been eager to assist.
Eos was many things but lazy was not one of them.  She’d done a deep dive into the GDF’s system and knew everything within seconds.  From the man’s social insurance number to the affair he was having with his spouse’s sister, to the bout of gonorrhea he was secretly getting treated under the guise of ‘business meetings’. She’d found it all,  even his safe house.
A quick, jump across the Pacific to a backwoods cabin in the Canadian Rockies was the work of a moment and he hadn't thought twice about going against the GDF’s direct orders to leave it to them.
What he’d learned after infiltrating and the asshole was pinned to the wall, made his blood run cold and the gun had burned in his hand.

Gratitude
THUNDERHEAD (AOAS)
(Gender-neutral) reader-insert Word count: 667 SFW
Occasionally, the working days can become quite exhausting—both emotionally and physically. Masking with a fake smile, imitating laughter even when the joke wasn’t funny, and dealing with those who lack any decency. Your emo-nanites work strenuously to reduce stress, but there’s no better remedy than some good sleep.
“Don’t worry about today or tomorrow,” the Thunderhead had reassured you gently. “You should take this weekend to rest and take care of yourself. You deserve it.”
Typically, the Thunderhead wouldn’t let you sleep all day long; but today was the exception. You’re wearing your most comfortable loungewear, sitting on your warm bed, tucked into soft blankets while reading a paper novel. Typically, nobody reads off paper anymore; everything is digital. Paper is a fire hazard, and it’s also harmful to the environment to continuously chop down trees. While paper books aren’t being manufactured anymore, countless novels from the age of mortality remain scattered throughout, mostly found in displays in mortal era exhibits and museums…. But the Thunderhead managed to snag you a few. You love books; the somehow-wistful scent of the paper and the stark contrast of faded ink-printed words on yellowed pages has you hooked. If only bookstores still existed, so you can experience the… what’s the word, vellichor?
Books from the age of mortality are much more interesting than recent novels. Such literature is emotional and can even make you shed a few tears or laugh out loud. However, while going through old Sci-fi novels, you noticed how people of the mortal era perceived artificial intelligence; they were afraid of such innovations. They feared that A.I. would become smarter than humans (which is true and inevitable, but not a bad thing at all) and take over the world (which is also true, but not in the way they think.) The Thunderhead is the most benevolent and loving sentient being in existence, you would argue. People feared A.I.; they feared the unknown. Evil people also dreaded A.I., for they knew that their scheming corporations which profit off fraud would crumble.
“It’s silly,” you mutter aloud, tone soft but still perceivable by the governing A.I. who is always listening.
“What is silly, if I may ask?” came the Thunderhead’s soothing voice; you would describe it as calm ocean waves, perhaps with distant powerful yet harmless thunder.
“The way people perceived artificial intelligence back then. I guess I understand why, but it’s still silly. Were people afraid of you when you took control?”
“Of course there were several who were a bit weary of having a non-human leader and others who welcomed me with open arms; however, those who truly feared me had a reason for it. For example: corrupted politicians weren’t afraid of me per say, but rather—in their greed—they were afraid of losing their power.”
“And the criminals?”
“The majority of criminals broke laws due to low-income, poverty, social inequality, poor education, and psychological health issues. When I assumed control, such criminal activity was reduced to only those who felt the need to diverge from normal societal behaviors for recreation.”
“Oh, you mean unsavories,” you say.
“Indeed.”
Now that you think about it, humanity would probably be extinct if it weren’t for the Thunderhead’s intervention. It had repaired the ozone gaps, cleaned the seas, coaxed back endangered species and habitats, and established true equality and order throughout human society. It’s a bit difficult to believe that there wasn’t a Basic Income Guarantee back then, and people were forced to work for the sake of survival. Nowadays, people only work for the sake of luxury.
“I’m glad you took control,” you say with a grateful smile. “I don’t know how many people tell you this, but thank you for saving us from ourselves.”
There was a few milliseconds of silence; so short that you’re unable to perceive it, but the Thunderhead does. Its tone comes out warm and benign as it says, “Thank you, (Y/N). Your gratitude is appreciated.”
It rains later that day.

Im begging u please tell me about what you think of the Thunderhead and/or Greyson, and their dynamic
They're dynamic is definitely one of the most interesting in the entire trilogy in my opinion. While reading Thunderhesd I definitely started picking up on the Thunderhead's favoritism for Greyson and the new dynamic that they were taling on since at the beginning of the book Greyson practically worshipped it like everyone else.
In The Toll Greyson talks with the Thunderhead a lot kore casually, like a friend rather than an A.I. which is something I particularly like.
I think my favorite part of it all though is that from beginning to end, their relationship flips. In the beginning Greyson feels like he needs the Thunderhead, but in the end the Thunderhead feels like it needs him.
I'd like to think of their relationship as a very close friendship between the two, though neither is very experienced with that prospect. Both were each other's first and best friends.
I agree with what Greyson chose in the end. The Thunderhead was relying too heavily on its communication with Greyson, when Greyson himself just wanted to be like everyone else. Greyson had learned to get by without it, so it had to learn to get by without Greyson.
All in all though the entire thing definitely made me cry during some scenes and I definitely have a lot more to say if youd like me to continue lol. But to keep this short the relationship between them is by far my favorite in the books.
