Mav and Ice meet during San Francisco's pride, both unaware of who the other really is and they spend all day together. Ice, Tom, is particularly touchy, and Mav, Pete, enjoys every single minute of it. Somebody takes a picture of them, two actually, and gives a copy each. They say their goodbyes with a kiss and a promise to call eachother even if they know it's not going to happen. But it's okay, they are forever going to remember that day and it will bright their day when needed.

Neither of them expect to meet the other at the O-Club, merely days after. Neither of them knows what to say until Tom, Ice, takes a step forward and asks if Mav needs any help.

Here’s a snippet of that Icemav time travel au that I was talking about before. This is all I have written and the chances of me expanding on this is very low.

"This is what I end up being? Trophy husband of the Iceman?" scoffed his Maverick.

Tom was surprised by his older counterpart. The man started laughing at Mav's face, small gasps became full blown laughs and then to screeching coughs alarmingly fast. Older Maverick dashed in from the kitchen within seconds, concern evident on his face. There was a glass of water in his hands. Older him gestured to him with his hands and took the glass.

"What happened?"

"Little you is angry that you are my trophy husband,” the older him struggled to gasp out, he drank the water obediently when older Mav glared at him.

Older Maverick rolled his eyes and grinned, looking around and winked at his younger counterpart who blushed.

"Obviously. It’s the best job in the world."

He was out of the room as fast as came in and Ice was honestly intimidated by the happiness in older Maverick’s eyes and shuddered at the brightness of his smile.

His Mav was frowning, clearly trying to come up with a response.

Older him did not allow him to speak.

“I disagree, if anything I am the trophy husband waiting for him to come back safely from his missions.”

Ice has never seen himself this calm and happy, that too, about Pete Mitchell.

What the hell happened to them and how fast can it happen, so that he can experience the same kind of love and tranquility?

Pete Maverick Mitchell’s an omega. Ice’s known this – everyone knows it. A wild scrapper, eyes glinting all bright and challenging in equal measures, and then there’s a flash of his white, sharp teeth in a mischievous display.

A hidden threat, because of course.

Ice would be lying if he said he wasn’t charmed right away in June. He was and he was interested and it had nothing to do with the fact that Maverick was an omega.

’Always flies solo – no, no, he’s got a RIO, but… the guy likes to work alone’.

And sure, Ice could see why. The navy isn’t exactly known for its tolerance and he’s heard enough prejudiced bullshit so he can see where at least a part of Maverick’s drive comes from, but then –

Then he sees Mav fly.

And he thinks: Oh.

Maverick flies and soars and pours everything he has into it and it shows. His talent, his passion, his joy to be up there.

And now he catches Maverick’s scent, a burst of ripe sweet summer berries and all of it sends Ice’s entire mind on overdrive.

Oh indeed.

I was in the mood for Wings but also some hurt/comfort so here we are.

i don't know exactly what happened save for the fact that in the sketch poor Mav's wing was in quite a bad shape (A) in the end i didn't want to be TOO mean to him so now he's either injured but not gruesomely so, or just devastated about something. In any case, Ice'll be there for him ♥

The year is 1995 and Mav disappears off radars on a mission overseas. He's declared MIA and then when satellite pictures of an F-14's wreck show up, declared KIA.

It's a hot August evening when Ice opens his front doors to see a Navy officer with a precisely folded flag in his arms and a JAG lawyer with a suitcase full of documents. Baby Goose should be already sleeping upstairs, preparing for their planned camping trip the day after.

Ice lets them in without a word.

They walk past the living room where Ice had been checking their tent for rust, straight to the kitchen table. They don't sit down.

"On behalf of the President of the United States, the United States Navy—"

"Spare me the bullshit."

He's still holding the flag, letter on top of it, seal unbroken.

"Why are you even here? I'm not his—" Loved one. Ice was just—there. A close friend. A wingman. It doesn't matter whether he loves Mav or not, he will always be just someone in his life, not his loved one. "I'm just his best friend."

"Commander Mitchell stated this address as Bradley Bradshaw's main residence during deployment."

Jesus Christ. He can't—Bradley. What was he going to tell Bradley?

"Commander Mitchell's sole beneficiary is Bradley Bradshaw, and since he's a minor, we need to execute his will alongside our condolences." Bradley lost another parent. And all he has left is a will. "You've been named as Bradley Bradshaw's legal guardian if Commander Mitchell was—unable to take care of him."

"He's never told me that."

He didn't. Not even a word. He knew Mav had a will, they all did. But he never thought enough to make sense of the details.

It couldn't be Ice. He couldn't exist on paper in Mav's life or in Bradley's life.

"You can refuse—"

Ice phases out the words that come after — Mav can't be gone, Mav couldn't have left Bradley to him, Mav couldn't have thought he would be able to care for Bradley alone, without Mav's help and guidance. He couldn't have left them both there with broken hearts.

Ice doesn't believe this. It can't be true. If he stares long enough, the two officers in front of him are going to disappear and he will get a late night call from Mav from the ship and will wake up Baby Goose so they could chat and—

"Ice, I know I should be asleep but can we check if we got enough jars for bugs? I really want to—"

Ice finally comes back to the surroundings.

Bradley stands in the kitchen door, noticing the two people in there, in uniforms. "I'm sorry, sirs, I didn't know—"

At that exact moment, Bradley notices the flag and the unopen letter. He can see it nice and clear — his face falls and he doesn't look at anything but the goddamn flag and the stupid letter made on behalf of the President.

Ice stops breathing. "Bradley—"

"No," he says, shaking his head, so quiet. "Not again, no—"

Before Ice can say anything, Bradley is running back up the stairs.

I need an AU where Iceman (cancer-free) is Maverick’s wingman for the mission. They don’t want to put their adopted kids’ lives at risk. They both get shot down and argue in the forest but don’t push each other over cause they might not be able to get back up, “you’re the commander of the pacific fleet, I was saving your life” and “I’m not abandoning my wingman, you want me to watch my husband get killed???” And then before they get in the F-14 they argue over who’s the better pilot because of course they would (Ice would pull rank) and Mav kinda had a full circle moment when he’s got to eject them. It doesn’t work though and Rooster (the spare dagger) saves them, putting aside the animosity he has with them pulling his papers.

au in which Ice does what he has to fix some rough edges of the Navy, becomes a shadow, and Mav shines because he's so worth it. So much Ice doesn't mind being forgot by history and everyone else.
