I’m not sure if this is controversial or not but I think house of the dragon could have benefited from giving rhaenyra and alicent more female friends as kids.

like yeah there is something really special about their connection and deep devotion to each other, but at the same time it makes literally zero sense that rhaenyra didn’t have a group of ladies in waiting with her and alicent, or that rhaenyra’s relationship with laena was basically non existent. idk maybe it’s silly but I think it could have been really interesting, especially after they started to split into factions.

Honestly, the most disappointing thing about the way so many people approached House of The Dragon is how the whole “team black x team green” discourse just showed their complete lack of media literacy and critical thinking skills, sympathy, etc. 

The show follows these two women from teenagers to adults, delving even deeper into their backstory, and It’s complex and hurtful exactly because you’re *supposed* to be able to sympathize with both these women and what they have and are going through. The layerd years of pain and regret and yearning, the “why” and “how” they came to be and act the way they do as two sides of the same system that fights against them. Desperation and hurt leading to *one moment.

Rhaenyra is not exempt from error, Alicent is not pure fucking evil. Its anything but black and white, and It’s such a fucking disservice to everyone involved that the majority of this fandom is the people who can’t, or outright refuse to interpret things beyond surface level being the reason the writers and actors have to spell out and explain every little thing-

Max was asked if he knew Willy growing up "he told me that we played against each other but i don't remember" 🥹bebes willy & max

Mo's heard there's a kid in attendance there who was named after him but hasn't met them yet

The trip:

Its a fun trip bc they're in the same hotel for a full week unlike roadies where they just go in and out of diff hotels; team bonding, dinners

Wasn't surprised they started slow. Plan was to just survive 1st period 😂 bc wings had already had a game under their belt

Felt that their own game got better as it went on and wings game got worse

Expectation is that they'll be better from start for game 2 (yes we all wish for magic, sheldon)

Too Many Men on the ice penalty: he doesn't believe the one in game 1 was a good call so they're not going to worry about it. He will address the other penalties with the players. "You can ask me this question again later when we really get a Too Many Men call" THIS MAN. THE SNARK. I LOVE HIM.

Tell me what the real harm is of letting gender-oppressed mascs into spaces discussing gender oppression is. Because the consequence of not doing so is denying them space for their experiences just because of their gender identity. Do better.

it’s so funny to me that people used to try to warn me “if you go on t it won’t make you androgynous it’ll just make you look like a man” because 1) i do want to look like a man, that is famously a major part of being a trans man but also 2) t literally has made me androgynous?? like they were wrong on both counts. i got most of the looking-like-a-man changes that i wanted (deep voice, broader body, hair all over my body including my face) and i also give every single cis person in a five mile radius a stroke every time they try to figure out my gender. the assumption that trans men wouldn’t actually want to look like men and the assumption that cis people are good at correctly gendering us once we’re on t are both weird as hell.

I often do think it is important to call myself a woman. In past I've had kids ask me "are you a man or a girl" and in hindsight I think these kids were quite perceptive of the world. Especially when you're in your 20s it's men and girls, I've seen students write pieces describing themselves as men, but their female peers of the same age they call girls, but I have also heard bisexual women say they like both men and girls. In past I've fallen into that myself and said that yeah I'm a lesbian I like girls, but do I? No I am in my twenties and I am actually only attracted to my fellow adults - women. It does feel more serious, less trivial, both to be and be attracted to women as opposed to girls, and that can be a bit uncomfortable to be faced with. It is also important to me as a butch. I am no longer a tomboy I am a butch I am no longer a girl I am a woman. I am a woman and women can be like me. I don't feel like I've succeeded enough at adulting to call myself a woman, but that doesn't matter. I am 25, and if the word bears other connotations so be it, that's not my problem.
