Katniss is Lucy Gray this. Katniss is Seganus that. Katniss paralleling Tigris. Both Katniss and Tigris willing to do absolutely anything to keep their families alive. Being completely motivated by their younger sibling/cousin. Having to take up that “mom” role because the women in charge of them couldn’t do it. Being the sole provider for their families. Tigris selling herself to keep her family afloat and Katniss saying that if her dad died when she was older she probably would have done the same. They also both lost who they fought for. Prim died and Coryo became Coriolanus. Not to mention Prim and Snow both got a fighting chance because of their sibling’s/cousin’s hard work and Prim using it to help while Snow used his chance to hurt. Sure Snow heard Katniss sing Lucy Grays song and remembered the girl he tried to get everyone to forget but maybe he saw a sister’s sacrifice at the reaping and saw the women who raised him. The one he used and casted out when she couldn’t be used anymore.

I find little bits like this in the book so interesting because it’s clearly foreshadowing. Like, I love getting to see where certain things began, where those ideas came from. For example, this is where the fallen tribute memorials that they did every night in the games we see came from.
