Some images from my first Basemental playthrough! Meet Ruth, Anne, and Therese.

Set in 1970's Hollywood, we follow 3 aspiring actresses who are rooming together until they get their big break (with all the temptations that come with it).

Ruth is insanely ambitious with an equally insane nicotine addiction. You couldn't part Anne from her uhh.. lettuce which leads her to bomb audition after audition.

And Therese isn't quite sure what it is but something has always felt off.

One of my favorite parts was watching them deal with their "high" moments.

Today I will dodge the big sets of recolors I was supposed to share by releasing this random thing I made on a whim instead, so here are 4 retro-looking PCs recolored in cluedo's colors:

the Milton Word Processor, converted from TS4 by Veranka;

the Information Database, converted from TS4 by Veranka;

the Mayhem Portable Computer, also converted from TS4 by Veranka;

the Apollo 70's PC, converted from Portal 2 by chiaroscuro.

I also fixed the shadows for the Apollo, so if you already have it installed, make sure to replace the original mesh for the one I provided.

Did someone ask for more radio stations? XD Right, so let me tell you--I've not only added more radio stations, but I also updated a few of them as well as having made "add-on" versions to a few of the stations. Add-on stations are "added on" to the already existing stations in Sims 3: Soul, Disco, Spooky, Pop, Latin, and Electronica. Only three of these need base game, so you're fine there. However, 70's, 80's, & 90's Stuff is required for the Disco station (( I will leave 'NuDisco' up for those without it )), Ambitions is required for 'Soul', and Movie Stuff is required for 'Spooky' (( again, will leave the 'Harvest' station up for those without this pack )). And maybe it will work if you don't have the pack--can anyone confirm this? Also, if you want me to make a separate station for 'Soul', please let me know. New stations include: Alternative, University Rock, METAL, Romance, and Talk Radio. The "Romance" station is not pictured in the above because, for some reason, I never made it originally? Like... why didn't I ever do that? XP Honestly, I thought I had. Apparently not, and when I was testing the other stations out, I was in the middle of making the 'Romance' station. I broke down the massive University Station into other parts, adding them to other stations and then making it its own station, similar to the Geek Rock station, with less songs. Please note that while I'll most likely keep the University Station up for DL, I won't be updating it anymore. The Housemix station was updated to include some techno songs as well. I put together a little something retro for GoS's That 70's Theme. I converted @its-adrienpastel's Paradise Trousers and added TS4 BG oxfords, which I tweaked to have a low, blocky heel. They're unisex, because what's more 70's than that?

I got inspired to make a set of poses inspired by the four different album covers for Taylor Swift's upcoming album, Midnights. I just loved the dimly lit 70's vibe and wanted to recreate it.

i wanted to go through all my townies in britechester and make sure that they look the part with no crazy cc or corrupted items on them! bc it’s so annoying seeing NPCs walk around looking wacky lmfao! i decided to take this chance to post makeovers of all the townies i edit! i hope that this inspires people and is fun to look at!

angela ༉‧₊˚.

angela is a painter and a calm soul. i wanted to portray that with art deco and 60s/70s postmodern fashion. i kept her wardrobe minimalistic, with the only patterns being stripes and plaid. her makeup is soft and simple, and to tie in her painter trait, I gave her some artistic and minimalist tattoos.

lilith is deviant and brash. her original fashion was TS4’s best attempt at emo/alt fashion, so i took that and ran and gave her a trad goth/death punk style! i kept with black red and silver for her wardrobe, but made sure red was only an accent so it didn’t clash with her hair. i gave her a wolfcut and lots of tattoos and piercings.

Thoughts on the livestream:

The build/buy stuff is pretty great.

“Science baby” is 1) hilariously named and 2) an absolutely great feature that I didn’t expect to be added.

I am 70% sure that, model-wise, infants are just toddlers sized down. (Like people used to do for screenshots in TS3 days, lol.) It’s kind of hard to tell them apart.

Love the new skin details. They already exist as CC, of course, but it’s still cool.

I’m glad they fixed the high chair, but it is painfully, painfully overdue. EA’s slow response to TS4 bugs is honestly kind of inexcusable when the product costs so much.

Neat neighborhood. Looks like twelve or thirteen lots. Fairly middling for TS4′s later DLCs. Still wish it was bigger. I also hope it has proper collection nodes, which seem to have been forgotten in many of the neighborhoods past the base game.

I don’t think literally anyone outside of the TS4 dev team has ever cared if the world names are literal.

The pie menu recategorization is also very overdue.

Some of these quirks go a bit far on the gross factor. Two relating to piss is at least one too many.

Memories coming back in sort of a TS2 style is quite nice.

Mid-life crises were great in TS3, cool to see them back.

That movie theater rabbithole is pretty much the same as TS3′s. I used it on ocassion in 3, but I have a feeling I’ll hardly ever in 4, since going through a loading screen just to get to a rabbithole -- it is in one neighborhood of one world, after all -- doesn’t seem like something I, or many other people, would do often.

More trait slots were also sorely needed, especially with all the filler like Lactose Intolerant taking up 33.3% of your Sim’s personality, but they should really have added the three additional slots to CAS.

Overall: Looks like a pretty good pack, though I’m sure plenty of bugs and annoyances will make themselves known after release. Would’ve been nice to have earlier in the game’s lifespan; these are honestly almost all pretty sorely needed changes and features, and this is likely in the last year or two of TS4.
