Calcinidae Bay Lot Tour: the Public Schools

Let's take a closer look at a few of Calcinidae Bay's community lots - its public schooling! This screenshot is actually three lots, with two lots overlapped using the Lot Adjuster. On the left is the high school, on the right is the primary school, and between them is a shared gymnasium and a semi-public oval (sports field).

As always, these lots are based on shell challenges. The high school and primary school are actually shells that were made for me by @hugelunatic as stocking stuffers back in 2022 (I didn't forget about them!) The shell from the gym/oval lot is actually the smaller canteen building, with the gymnasium being auxiliary (because it had to be such a specific size/shape), and that shell is a 4T2 adaptation of LilSimsie's "Yeehaw" Shell Challenge that I grabbed off the gallery.

Starting with the high school:

If you peeked at the original shell, you'll see there was a two-storey 1x1 "column "room" in the middle of the lot, which made me think of a bell/clock tower and inspired me to use these shells for schools. Normally when I adapt a TS4 shell challenge to TS2 I choose the placement & orientation on the lot, but because these lots were made natively in TS2 I decided to keep the lot size & distribution as they were. This gave me a lot of additional space around the main building that was perfect for adding extra amenities like a library.

The ground floor of the high school has an administration area, lockers, mixed bathroom, sick bay, staff room, and two general-use classrooms that can each fit six students.

The teacher's lounge/staff room, and a small display/awards case. I needed something to do with that little triangular pocket, and now it's one of my favourite features. :)

Upstairs is two specialised classrooms - a moderate science lab and an arts room. I would have liked at least a home ec classroom as well, but I guess that'll be reserved for the eventual private school.

The canteen (cafeteria) is a separate demountable building with outdoor seating, some of it under a shade cloth. The library is also a separate building with a small computer bay and a group study area.

Moving on to the primary school, a much older and smaller building with some minor remodeling so the two schools look cohesive:

The inspiration for my gameplay/lots is a mish-mash of different cultural influences, but I play my schools like the standard Australian system; kids start in reception (about age 5) and attend primary school all the way through to year 6 or 7, then go to high school from year 6/7 through to year 12. Separate middle schools are much less common, and this matches with how the game itself handles kid vs. teen education.

I design my lots kind of "representationally", to get the best balance between realism and playability. While I enjoy including some details that don't provide actual gameplay, I don't want to build enormous, cumbersome lots just to achieve a 1:1 scale when my Sims will never actually need that much space. Plus, most shell challenges tend to be smaller, which I like. Hence why this school has only two classrooms, one for junior primary and a more structured classroom for upper primary.

There is a small admin area downstairs. Upstairs is the sick bay and a modest teacher's lounge/staff room.

The primary school doesn't have its own library, but it does have a small separate building that we in Australia would call OSHC - Out of School Hours Care. It's a service parents can book to drop their children off before school starts, or arrange for them to attend after school finishes until they can pick them up. They provide snacks and some edu-tainment activities. Lots of kids also attend OSHC over school holidays.

The primary school canteen/cafeteria is also a separate building. Both school canteens use the University cafeteria stove, so with the right mod students will be able to grab food there. In addition to an outdoor eating area and a small playground, there is a little produce patch between the two buildings where students are taught about horticulture.

And finally, the lot that joins the two schools, the shared gymnasium and Calcinidae Oval.

The canteen/cafeteria itself would generally not be open during school hours. Instead, the school and/or local council would operate it for profit or hire it out to a third party when the oval was being used for local sports teams and other events on weekends, holidays, and after school hours. Right now it's set up for just such a soccer match.

The inside of the "tuckshop". There is a bathroom on the bottom floor accessible from the outside of the building, while the top floor has two changing rooms for students or local teams.

The gymnasium also serves as an assembly hall for students of both schools. I think the teachers would either have a collapsible stage at the far end of the court, or just stand up in the commentator's booth to give the announcements. Underneath the commentator's booth is the equipment storage shed where many a teen couple has probably sneaked off to make out.

The back view of the tuckshop and the carpark shows how this lot overlaps with the primary school. The existing primary school is blocked from Sims walking through it by a combination of real fences and this hidden CC-free invisible fence.

And that's it for this tour! I'm pretty happy with how these lots look, how I utilised the shells, and how they all fit together in the neighbourhood. I want to have more lots overlapping and slotting together like this to give Calcinidae Bay a more seamless, open feel, like the hood really is connected.

Thank you to the EA Creator network for the code to check out the Book Nook Kit. I haven't had the time I want lately to play and build in ts4 that I would like but I really wanted to take some time to do a quick little cc-free set-type build cc-free with this new Kit since I uh very much love building libraries.

Further review of my quick look at the pack under the cut if you're interested - but my main takeaway is that I'm underwhelmed with the color swatches for the bookshelves and I should, as such, note that the colors in my screenshot above have been adjusted.

I really really wanted to like this Kit so much. The initial promo images didn't inspire me (at all) libraries are one of my favorite things to build in ts4, and I was really hoping the items in this pack could replace some of the CC that I use. That will almost definitely not be the case, however.

My main gripe is with the bookshelves. I enjoyed some of the clutter items and will never turn down a good stack of books, though I do have to admit i didn't look too closely at the other large furniture items because they simply don't fit the style in which I tend to build. The shelves, however, came kind of close to being what I had hoped, but ultimately there's just too many small things that bug me about them that I don't see them being worth the cost of the pack.

Those issues with the shelves were: 1) The snapping - I'm really not into this trend of wall items snapping. If you're someone who really likes to finesse positioning I think you'll probably understand how difficult this becomes with snapped items. TOOL alleviates some of these issues but TOOL should not be a necessity for paid packs (and also bugged out when i was trying to move a piece not on the wall, so maybe a moot point, altogether ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). I've also only just noticed that I kept the book swatches all the same because I kept having to replace them to fix placement issues and obviously forgot to adjust that. Oops! :')

2) No base - The shelves just look, to me, so awkward and off without a base for them to sit on the floor. If you look at most shelves of this type, like Ikea's billy bookcases which these have a very similar vibe to, the bottom shelf does not sit directly on the floor, but is instead slightly elevated off of it:

Like, I understand that removing that element from the equation makes the stacking/snapping effect easier to pull off, but :///

3) The Color Swatches - I didn't check 100%, but I think the swatches do match up to The Immaculate base game display shelf which is nice. But just ughhhhhhhh. I really hated the wood colors on these. They all felt cold and institutional. I really wanted there to be a warm mahogany-esque swatch for good dark academia vibes but, alas. For full transparency this is my image before I photoshopped the colors to be closer to the vibe that I wanted:

Before-> After. It wasn't the absolute worst and got some of the vibes I wanted, but also like. meh.

All in all, this kit was a bit of a disappointment to me. I can see some of my issues being fixed with recolors - but at that point I might as well just be using other CC items?? I'll also recommend some of my current favorite bookshelf items I have in my game > These bookshelves by MLys - these basically never ever leave my game even when I'm going super CC-light. > and this modular library set by SSTS (which admittedly has some of my same issues with snapping items in ts4 - but it's free and has seriously BEAUTIFUL swatches and details and so. I cannot complain even the smallest single bit. It's gorgeous and I can only hope to one day build a library worthy of the set, lol)

TS4: Korean Books Functional

This object was going to be part of a set, but I decided to post it separately.

People say "Don't judge a book by its cover", but this is what I did hah

I don't know any of these books but looking at their covers and titles they seem interesting.

There are novels, children's stories, etc. Each one of them has a different cover and the pages inside are also different.

ABOUT THE DOWNLOAD:

◇ There are 25 functional books (swatches). If by any chance you want to know the names of these books, I added a text file below with a list of all names and the links where I found them :)

◇ You need Seasons expansion for it to work.

◇ To find it on your buy mode search for "channel4sims - korean books functional".

◇ If there are any bookshelves around, your Sim may put the book in there after they finish reading it. They can also send it to the inventory.

◇ If you don’t cancel the action, they will keep reading it forever XD

◇ The interactions are translated to English, Portuguese and Spanish. Please tell me if there're any problems (blank action balloons).

are you going to put your mystery shack on the gallery when you finish it? and did you use a lot of cc for it?

(for anyone who missed it, we're talking about this Sims 4 build.)

Eventually, yeah! Though I'm not quite finished with it yet. There's a few more things I wanna fix up first. I'll put them under a cut since it's a long list lol.

But the build actually uses zero CC! I actually started building the shack as a way to pass the time on patch days so that I could have a CC-free project to work on whenever I'm wait for all my mods to get updated lmfao. Even the paintings of Bill aren't flagged as CC. (I used in-game objects to create a big architectural structure that looks like Bill, maxed Ford's painting skill, and sent him to go paint the scenery.)

Incidentally, if you want to have a couple of Authentic No-CC In-Game Bill Cipher Paintings, I HAVE put those up on the gallery:

(I thiiiiiink I've also put up a couple of yes-CC Bill Cipher paintings that nevertheless still work in-game without you have it to download anything? They look like the actual tapestry in Mabelcorn. But you've gotta turn on the "allow CC" flag when searching the gallery to see them.)

Some of the objects were placed using the TOOL mod—for instance, that RoM rug I stuck on the wall to serve as the Portal—but objects placed with TOOL will stay put even if you don't have TOOL, so you won't need it to download the shack and use it as-is and it won't be flagged as CC when it's uploaded to the gallery.

And the things I still need to fix, off the top of my head:

I'm gonna replace the bookcases in Ford's study with the new bookcases from the book nook kit, so that the books on the shelves will look a bit more diverse.

In the show, there's a spiral staircase to nowhere in Ford's study. I'm gonna put a ladder in that spot and connect it to an extra bathroom. For the size of this build, it's got way too few bathrooms.

And on that note: outhouse. The shack needs its outhouse.

I've gotta rearrange the position of Stan's bedroom and the attic window seat. When I originally put the window seat in the build, I was going off Headhunters where it seemed to be on one end of the house; but from later episodes it seems more accurate to put the window seat on the side of the house (as the window under the roof hangout spot).

I found some better screenshots of the main bathroom, so I've gotta fix it up—put the toilet in the correct spot, add its second mirror, etc.

I need to finalize the route to the roof hangout spot. The show has the characters climb on the roof to get to it, which just isn't an option in the sims; so trying to find a route up that still looks kinda canon-accurate has been giving me trouble for the whole build.

I wanna shuffle around the position of the basement rooms a little bit so that the elevator entrance doesn't feel quite so cramped.

Now that we got some brand new functional backpacks and lunchboxes in game, I wanna drop them in the attic for Dipper and Mabel to use.

I might change the gift shop up a bit. Right now I've got all the "for sale" souvenirs on a big wooden display cabinet, and it looks very nice; buuut it's not canon accurate, it's supposed to be a glass display case. And I AM trying to be canon accurate. Even if the wooden display cabinet looks nicer.

I'm not quite sure if uploading a fishbowl full of fish to the library will keep the fish in that bowl, but just in case it does, I wanna have Mabel go catch a lobster and put it in the fish tank (to parallel the lobster she gets in The Hand That Rocks The Mabel). Too bad there's no axolotls in TS4.

Similarly, I'm not quite sure if items stolen by kleptomaniac sims retain those "stolen item" flags when uploaded to the gallery; but just in case they do, I wanna make a Gleeful household just so that Stan can steal their sad clown painting to hang in the living room lmfao.

Now that we can paint ceilings, I've gotta paint ALL THE CEILINGS!

I got like six packs/kits just to use a few extra items in the Mystery Shack build lmfao, so I've gotta go through all those items with a fine-tooth comb to see if they can replace any items I currently have.

I've been putting off placing a lot of columns/corbels/rafters until the end, since while I was still shifting around the rooms they just got in the way. Now's the time to finish that.

I think I'm gonna redo how I handle the door to the cellar, TOOL mod willing, to make it more accurate and less wonky-looking.

I've been playing in the house a little bit to test it, so I've gotta do some housecleaning before we're ready to upload to the gallery: wash the dishes, mop up the mess Mabel made in the floor room, pick up the seed packets the gnomes tossed all over the place...

When I first made the shack, I actually started with somebody else's build I found on the gallery, and then went "wait this is inaccurate as hell and kind of sucks, all the rooms look wrong and the layout is VERY wrong," and I basically bulldozed it piece by piece to remake it myself. But because I started with someone else's build, it still retains an "originally made by this other guy" flag when I save the lot. This annoys me. So I've gotta find a way to get rid of that flag before uploading to the gallery.

I thought EA would have addressed this by now so I didn’t mean to keep anyone hanging for 2 days but I’ve come to a decision about early access.

As I’ve always kept in line with EA TOU - I will continue to do so, I will be removing early access from patreon and replacing it with other ways to thank you for pledging. 

All of my CC and smaller mods will be free from day 1 (which I did most of the time before anyway) For my much larger mods I will be taking a leaf out of SimRealists book and I will be holding beta testing on Discord with a version of the mod that is not finished enough for public release, then I will fix all reported bugs and upload the finished and final version for free either to my website which is currently being built or patreon if the file is too large (e.g. RM). Some of my mods are massive and need extensive testing (don’t even get me started on SURVIVE!... I have no idea how long that will take to test omg).

I think this is in-line with the TOU? Anything on discord is in an unfinished state and will not be the final version of the mod. If it isn’t then I will make sure to change it! :) I still really hope that EA makes a post legally defining this as the post is so vague and we’ve been getting mixed responses from the live chat (they can’t speak for anything on the legal side of EA anyway).

- I am currently looking into patron's physical reward system, e.g. stickers and stuff and seeing if that would financially viable for me. - I’ve also added small mod requests - Tutorial requests to one of my tiers (these are on tier 3 purely just because I wouldn’t be able to keep up with requests if I added it to the others)

I am also currently making a ‘Become a Modder’ series on Youtube to help people learn how to create mods for TS4! If this interests you, I would really appreciate it if you subscribed to the channel! I am also going to be making written tutorials too, if you prefer those!

New site

I’m currently building a new site on squarespace, where I’m going to be hosting most of CC and mods with their how-to guides and installation instructions all in one easy to find place! (I had such a bad experience with the old site that I thought it wasn’t worth it lol, but squarespace is going pretty good so far!) Hopefully I can enable adsense on that down the line to at least cover the cost of the site’s monthly hosting fee. 

I hope you feel these new rewards are worthwhile for your pledge! I know many of you pledged to me just purely out of your own generosity and some of you have sent me the loveliest messages. I just want to thank you for that. Like, so much. I hope that no one feels like it was ever my intention to take advantage of the community or that I only made mods for money - that was never ever my intention. I made (the shittiest lol) cc for TS3 long before I ever got into modding, purely because I loved it and thought it was so fucking cool to be able to do that.

If anything I posted or if me waiting to see what the legal terms were surrounding this were left a bad taste in your mouth, I apologize. To be told you may no longer have an income when you can’t work is terrifying and I hope people can relate to that.  All I could see was people no longer supporting me because I couldn’t offer early access but I’ve received so many beautiful messages and comments telling me otherwise. I hope I have still earnt your pledges and continue to do so.

If you’ve pledged to me in the past, or currently do, or plan to - from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I will always be transparent about the fact that I am currently able to support myself because of the kind people in this community and I am so grateful for that. Introduction

Sul sul! 👋 Hi, I’m Nell! I just wanted to make a post introducing myself. I’m not really a new simblr (mostly I’ve just been lurking, looking at everyone’s amazing cc and gameplay screenshots), but recently I’ve decided that I’m going to start posting my personal gameplay and builds.  I’m fairly new to The Sims - I played once or twice as a kid but never owned it. I discovered TS4 last year and immediately fell in love. As a kid, I was obsessed with making my own stories, barbies, paper dolls... I loved to design clothes for my paper dolls, make miniature books and sew tiny quilts for my barbies. As an adult, I still love miniature (you know those kits you can make of tiny room? So cool!). I was also obsessed with the game House for a bit... but I wanted more, you know? And then I remembered The Sims and that was it. Building, decorating, creating storylines and making your own characters? Yes please! A little bit about me: I’m 31, married, Canadian🍁, with 3 kitty fur babies. I’m currently studying computer programming. My program is insanely busy, so I won’t always have time to be on here, but I’ll try my best! I love chill video games (irl is too stressful, so I don’t often play stressful games hahaha 🙃) - my favorites are TS4, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and BOTW. I’m a musician and I play several instruments. I love witchy décor, crafts, art & textile creations, cute things, cats, squishmallows and pastels. Update and other things

Hi yeah it’s me coming back after almost half a year? maybe longer? of not posting things. Life got crazy (and still is) so i didn’t had the time or energy to do something with this blog. and even now i will maybe post once in a while. Under the cut i will talk more about some chances and stuff!

Name change i changed my name to retro-plumbob because i didn’t really like my old name but didn’t know anything better at the time. So now retro-plumbob it is! New Blogs I am playing around with some new blog ideas. Even an legacy blog. But those wont be active and ready for a while until i finished my own perfect savefile. New Savefile Like i said i am working on my own perfect savefile. This savefile will include lots of my sims 2 to sims 4 builds and families. But also sims from games as The sims 1, Urbz sims in the city (handheld and console versions) and other old sims games, some townie make-overs but also some own made families and builds. I started this file because i wanted to give myself a bit more freedom and figure out my styles in sims (cas, building etc) and the projects that i was working on restricted me in that. The sims 2 to Sims 4 projects Well it is kind of abandoned right now. I am not sure if i will ever finish it or even work on it. But for now the file just chilling between my other savefiles untouched. Like i mentioned before i noticed that instead of enjoying making it i got frustrated with it. And that was not my goal with this file. I will make an willow creek to pleasantview save file and an strangerville to strangertown playfile so people can still play those two since those were finished anyway. Also some of the families and builds i made for this file will be put online for you to easy download if you want them. As for all the other things i made for that file. Some i will re-use in my own savefile some will not. This includes both builds and families i made. What will the blog post now? Well i will still remake stuff from older games of course, some ts4 townie make-overs, look books and edited screenshots. But also more personal stuff like own made families and builds that aren’t form older games. And maybe if i find the time for it i will create small one neighborhood savefiles Also on a small note edited screenshots will mostly use cc. But if i make things to share with y’all i will do my best to make it cc free or light cc!

Melanie Koenig

You might think that being the local nerdy librarian and a former teacher’s pet (which her peers always resented her a bit for) means life wasn’t always easy for Melanie. Granted, she is one smart cookie but her people skills never were the best. And yet, while Melanie definitely is a bit awkward, she also has a very sunny disposition and there is very little that can dampen her spirits. She loves reading and has a huge collection of books that she adds to regularly, although the classics are her favorite. And she does prefer watching old Hollywood films on her couch with Pete her cat but every once in a blue moon when Melanie closes the library for the night, she lets Milly and Sabina drag her to the pub for a spot of karaoke.

Bella Teeluck

YA // Quick Learner // Music Lover // Childish // Neat

Bella, like Melanie, was always a good student but what Melanie lacks in people skills, Bella has in abundance. She’s especially popular with the elementary students she teaches because she starts every lesson with a song and she’s never lost the joy of playing with kids’ toys. Bella loves children and they love her because they sense that Bella is still a kid at heart. Music is very important to her and she will often get out the guitar and play pop songs while her nb kid Robin dances and sings along. And sometimes, when he has closed up the shop, Bella’s brother Jonas comes over and joins in, to the great joy of Robin, because Jonas always brings along a new children’s book.

Jake Rowland

YA // Essence of Flavor // Lazy // Bookworm // Jealous

Oh, Jake.. See, here’s the thing with Jake: Jake is majorly in love with Jonas, the local what’sitshop owner, and they have been on and off for a while but Jonas is just a bit too much of a free spirit to believe in monogamy, much to the dismay of Jake, who, let’s be honest, wants Jonas all to himself. And it could all be so perfect, because they both love to cook and they share a great passion for a good story. But Jonas can’t quite be tied down and Jake spends a lot of his time thinking of ways to convince his friend to settle down together (although Jake does like living with his sister Milly because she doesn’t mind when he slacks on his chores.. yet again). Oh, and Jake is not at all too keen on the looks that newcomer Cai is giving Jonas every time he visits the shop!

Kamilah Sabry

Adult // Domestic // Self-Assured // Ambitious // Family-Oriented

Kamilah is the proud mom of recent university graduate Cai and she’s the mayor of Henford-on-Bagley where many say she’s the best mayor the little town has ever seen. Kamilah is a power house and a doer and ‘impossible’ is not in her vocabulary! There is a lot to be done and, by golly, will it be done, if it weren’t for a certain prominent senior Henford-on-Bagley citizen, the formidable Lilly Lindgren, who seems to fancy herself a bit of a deputy mayor. The two can often be seen around town, with Lilly talking to or rather at Kamilah, giving her (unsolicited) advice and telling her how things should or shouldn’t be run and if Kamilah weren’t such a diplomat, she might just tell Lilly to shove it where the sun.. flowers don’t grow.

Prof. Saatvik Acharya

Elder // Gregarious // Cheerful // Genius // Perfectionist

Ah, yes, what would Henford-on-Bagley be without Professor Acharya, another one of the town’s staples. He still holds the occasional lecture at Britechester University but these days he prefers working in his lush garden where he cultivates the most exquisite roses, envy of many a hobby botanist around, and where he can be found playing chess and contemplating the meaning of life with Sabina or Herbert on many a lazy afternoon. Saatvik has a witty and warm sense of humor and even reclusive Delphine doesn’t mind when he comes by to chat about her roses, not only because Saatvik is so charming but also because he’s gentleman enough to leave a lady’s secrets alone. Quite unlike Lilly, who is always on everybody’s case but Saatvik and Delphine alike know well enough to hide behind their rose bushes when Lilly comes by.

Herbert Birch

YA // Muser // Gloomy // Foodie // Lactose Intolerant

Poor Herbert. Life really did a number on him when it made him lactose intolerant because, see, Herbert is a dairy farmer like his parents before him and their parents before.. you get the drift. Herbert only found out recently about his affliction but at least now he knows why he’s always been so, uhm, bloated. It’s a bit of a tragedy because Herbert loves blue cheese like no one else but he also likes writing poems ~ Herbert is a bit of a sensitive soul ~ and dreams of publishing them as none of his friends have the heart to tell him that they’re not very good. So, clueless Herbert milks his cows, composing in his mind a poem to win over Rosa, the pretty girl with the raven hair and the strawberry earrings. Maybe his friend Milly can put in a good word for him! 

Sabina Buckland

YA // Collector // Animal Enthusiast // Vegetarian // Outgoing

Sabina is a true child of nature, she lives at the edge of the forest and will often be found wandering the woods, talking to the animals and collecting what nature has to offer. You might think she’s a loner but Sabina loves people and she will always stop by the Prof’s cottage for a casual musing about the universe and how the stars are aligning that day, cheer up Herbert as he fusses over his newest tragic poem and have some coffee with Jonas who she sells the crystals and fossils to that she finds on her wanderings. Yet, for all her approachability there is something a little mysterious about Sabina and the town folk sure wonder why the mushrooms around her little house grow so abnormally large, winning the Finchwick Fair Competition five years in a row!

Goth Memorial Library & Café

The Goth Memorial Library was named after one of its biggest contributors and the previous patriarch of the local esteemed Goth family, Gunther Goth. Not only is it a great space to find a new book to indulge in or study, it also features a conference room that regularly hosts the local colleges’ debate teams, private study rooms, and a separate space for kids to find books that would be more their level. Plus, the café next door is the perfect place to take your newly acquired books and read with a nice cup of coffee or tea. Just be careful not to spill it!

I tried to look for some good ol willow creek lore when deciding on what to name this lot and was honestly pretty disappointed so I went back a game or two! I used Gunther just because he was super rich and he was a College Dean if I remember correctly. I know the timelines are technically different since ts4 is an alternate universe but oh well, just don’t think too hard about it. I also make this because I really wanted a more New Orleans style community lot and I can never find a library that suits all my needs for Willow Creek so here we are. It’s pretty clutter free so it should be pretty easy for all sims to get around in. This lot would also work if you set it to cafe instead! I hope you guys like it, I don’t really build many community lots but I think this one turned out nice! You mostly need Discover University and Get Together, most other packs only use an item or two and can be pretty easily replaced!

McGuffey’s Reader - Historical Homework Defaults

Hello! As per the usual Saturday procrastination session, I have a new piece of cc for you! 

I’ve been playing my decades challenge recently, and while scrolling through old photos, I realized that I hadn’t been able to find a good default for the homework in ts4, and the yellow one that came with the game definitely wouldn’t cut it in almost any historical time period, so I created these! 

This was originally just going to be McGuffey’s Reader, which was commonly used in the 19th and 20th centuries in elementary schools (at least in America, as far as I know), but I hit a slight roadblock: the textures on the homework are, by default, incredibly small. 

Although I got my originally idea into my game, it didn’t look as good as I’d hoped, and any attempts to upsize the texture and still have it function proved futile. So, I also included some options with leather books, as well as a red and blue option for variety. And here we are!

Remember: you can only use one default in your game at a time!

I’ll probably mess around with these textures some more and see if I can get a larger texture to work properly, but until then, I’ve also included all (I mean literally everything, I like organizing a little bit too much sometimes) of the things I used (textures, psds, etc.) to create these, so you can customize them to your heart’s content!

I finally got around to updating these textures to be higher-res, and adding recolor options which can be used alongside the defaults. However, keep in mind that books can’t be recolored with the design tool, so you’d have to purchase the homework in other colors via the order>order books option on a computer.

I also plan to do a version for the university homework, but I’m a bit pressed for time, and the uni homework is mapped differently for some reason, so I’d have to redo the textures, but look out for that in the next few weeks! Now includes defaults for the high school/secondary school homework as well as the university homework!

Update 3/21/21: Added new colors from @serindipitysims’s Historian Palette, and removed the McGuffey one, since it’s incredibly low quality and I want to see if I can fix it. If anyone still wants it for some reason, the old files are here: creator’s kit (OLD, the download above has the updated one)/original defaults (OLD)

Update 3/27/21: Added defaults for high school/secondary school and university, + updated all of them to use dds textures rather than pngs.

Update 7/15/21: I finally got around to updating these with higher-res textures, and added recolor options to be used alongside the defaults, so please redownload!
