silt verses wips, some will get finished and some wont :p which is which?? who knows !!! not me !!!!

1) thurrocks and faulkner on their quest to the endless drear, with jasp, tapper and wallace in the background (or at least thats the idea). most of my time on this one has been spent adjusting values on the hills in the background, and its absolutely too vibrant and green for how i imagine the scene lol theyre also really shitty hills if you look at them for less than a second so. dont do that please LMAO

2) faulkner in his katabasian garb, sat in a river for to maximise his solo slay. this one is kinda old atp but the design hasnt changed much. ive mentioned the open-mouthed epaulettes referencing the mouth delivering/returning before, but the green uhhh idk thing is dried and woven seaweed :) the rest of the robes will be more decorated with abstract woven patterns and embroidery if i ever start working on this one again

3) now THIS is the relgious faulkner that was giving me brain damage a couple days ago, that ive since realized wont be fixed with the ideas a couple people offered because of the perspectice. its pretty obviously mimicking a guillaume dufube sketch intended for a ceiling that i absolutely love. the parts ive produced, im really happy with, but i cant work out the composition fully so its gonna be abandoned at least for a while. not to mention the absolute misplacement of a sky motif. its one of those paintings i wish i had thicker/oil paint or gouache style brushes on medibang for

4) my mercer design!! heavily inspired by paleoart from various sources. everything she and gage have is organic, except a very few, like her sheath (oblong metal with a leather "cap" around the tip of the blade, a real ancient design i found references for on google) and her rifle. the original image also features gage playing their flute while squatting, but both of those things are hard poses to draw and hard to find refereces for, and im not willing to put in THAT much effort god lord i draw for FUN if its hard im giving up baby

5&6) snare dog!!!! i love these silly guys but i dont like this design, its too wolfish and i imagine them sorta borzoi/greyhound aligned. i also dont like the way the face opens, since i imagine that as more of a twist. i do like the flopping tongue though and i liked the half assed rendering

4. Carpenter, Paige, and Faulkner in a car together. Carpenter looks tired as she drives, and Faulkner smiles in the passenger’s seat as he and a smiling Paige split a Kit-Kat. Mercer and Gage

Mercer and Gage are two fairly young people who have been failed by the systems in place. They’re a pair of orphans who have been working to birth a god and are attempting that through their hunting. They get hired by a politician to kill a few other gods, which results in them spending several months traveling up and down the countryside, razing entire towns and killing worshipers of whatever god they are hunting at the time, going so far that the politician who hired them asks them to chill out a bit because now they’re just killing voters. Over time, Gage grows to hate the hunt and longs to do something more with their life, while Mercer grows angry that their sibling is drawing away from her. She tries to push Gage to keep going, and reluctantly they do. When the politician instructs them to stop hunting the god they’re currently after, Gage tries to tell Mercer to stop, but Mercer refuses because she believes that after they finish hunting this god, their goal will be accomplished. Seeing that Mercer will never stop and Gage will never be free of her, Gage decides to kill her.

rating silt verses characters based on how flexible i think they are

carpenter: can touch her toes without bending her knees but thats it. her bones click and crunch for 40 minutes after. 4/10

faulkner: legs flexible enough to curl up in the passenger seat to sleep while carpenter drives, but his spine is like every other vertebra fused together. definitely embarrassed about it. 2/10 purely for pillbug imitation ability

paige: did pilates or yoga or something while she had her job, but only infrequently. can almost put her hands flat on the floor while standing with straight knees. almost. 7/10

hayward: has never stretched in his life 1/10

raine: has tried to establish a stretching routine many times and so far has achieved no more than a week of consistency. this endeavour has granted them clicky shoulders and the ability to JUST BARELY put their forehead on their knees when they sit down with straight legs. 8/10

shrue: has attended maybe 2 mandatory wellness/networking sessions involving yoga or pilates and considered them both a waste of time. 3/10

greve, roemont, mason: too old to stretch without dust and dead skin falling off 1/10

acantha: surprisingly lithe considering how much she has to do and how old she is, but doesnt have time to properly stretch. 5/10

Just finished Season 2 of The Silt Verses

No major spoilers I just want to vent my emotions so

HOLY SHIT this season was amazing! I frickin love where this is going, the stakes feel at the same time much larger yet infinitely more personal for all our cast.

Getting to hear more of Carpenter's past when she was at her lowest point was so incredible. Like she's reached this point where she can't bear all that she's done to get to where she is now and doesn't know how to move on, that she finds it in her to press on, to lay the literal and figurative ghosts of her past to rest, only for...

THAT ending. Holy shit I would not blame her for whatever she does in season 3. I honestly don't know what I would do.

And the new cast! As soon as I was introduced to the Twins I knew I would follow them with great interest. Emotionally stunted, skillful and cunning beyond their years, uncannily viscous and bloodthirsty, constantly speaking of quarry and the great hunt, literally worshiping The Beast That Stalks In Long Grass, tauntingly shouting out "Come, Beast!" in the midst of combat, and yet somewhere under there, the hints of something else, a longing for a deeper connection that may never be fulfilled in life. Fuck me why I am like this why is this my type. I really do deserve the ships I write huh.

Loved what they're doing with Paige and Hayward, I didn't think these two would be the characters to have so much chemistry, but I really like their budding friendship. They'll need to be there for each other now more than ever.
