i’m two thirds through s4 (finished ep 8 tonight, didn’t have time to watch when it was airing live) and... it’s kinda not very good :( there are some things that i love (abraham and his whole storyline, litten who i already loved in s3, some scenes here and there) but overall i’m not feeling it. i have a lot more thoughts but i’m just wondering what the consensus in the fandom is?

Dearest @i-want-my-iwtv thank you for tagging me! I love to do this kind of tag games. How lovely to see an animation included, I chose one as well. I’m a big fan of TV series and especially German ones so there are few of them. Old and new productions. 🤓
1. Babylon Berlin (2017-2021): What a way to introduce us the reality of post war era in Weimar Germany. Class society, political wars, war traumas and in the midst of all this are crimes to be solved. Perfect ending titles. 2. Anders als die Andern (1919): The film is one of the first sympathetic portrayals of homosexuals in cinema. Released on May 28 1919, when German Republic was only 6-months-old. Young Conrad Veidt in the leading role.  3. Halt and Catch Fire (2014-2017): I’ve only seen season 1, but it already proved how effective it is when all the drama happens around one thing, in this case the evolution of home computers. Talented cast and script. Lee Pace is horrifyingly ravishing. 4. Viktor und Viktoria (1933): Best musical ever! The humor of the director & screenwriter Reinhold Schünzel, who teases us with the gender role-playing and cross dressing. 5. Das Boot (2018-2022): Imo Germans are the best storytellers of WWII and the N*zi regime so this show is one of the good examples to watch. 6. The Red Shoes (1948): Powell’s & Pressburger’s finest. The first 15 min nailed me and made me wonder why on Earth haven’t I seen this before. 7. Aladdin (1992): The message of the film ‘be yourself’ has always pleased me among all that Oriental beauty & magic. I draw the characters as paper dolls back then. 8. The Thief of Bagdad (1940): When the villain (elderly Conrad Veidt) is far more attractive than the hero. Beautiful Technicolor adventure film. 9. Corpus Christi (2019): Is both innocent and funny but also terrifying and sad. Opens up the religious side of the society. Polish language is my ASMR. Tagging: @missholson @wicked-felina @xxhellonursexx @auburnandamberangel and anyone who wants to join this! ♥︎

Babylon Berlin (season 4)
The new season featuring police inspector Gereon Rath is set in the chaotic last years of the Weimar Republic.
This is an exceptionally produced, shot, directed and written show. Season 4 is no exception and it is just as brilliant as the last three. It's perfection. Highly recommend it.

Roman votive relief depicting the Persian deity Mithras slaying a bull. The all-male cult of Mithras was popular in the Roman army, and it was heavily featured in Raised by Wolves, a sci-fi TV show on HBO Max. The relief dates back to the 2nd century CE, and it was discovered in Rome in 1835. The Neues Museum, Berlin, GERMANY.

"About the Blogger" Meme
@all-inmoderation tagged me. I haven't done one of these in ages, so this was fun. Thank you .D
Star Sign(s): Libra (don't ask me about rising and all that stuff, I know nothing about Astrology)
Favorite Holidays: Christmas, I love the cosiness.
Last Meal: Fries from the new kebab place around the corner. Had a craving, but they were sadly a bit underwhelming. Nothing more disappointing food item than underwhelming fries.
Current Favorite Musician: Been listening to a lot of Alabama Shakes this weekend. The intro to Sound and Color is just sooo fucking good.
Last Music Listened To: The spotify playlist called Indie Rock Club, which turned out to be all of the music I listened to in my late teens and early twenties. Ripped me right back to that time. Wild.
Last Movie Watched: Wow, Piggy was the last movie I watched, I really need to have a new years resolution to watch more movies. Piggy is fucking excellent though. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Go watch it.
Last TV Show Watched: I'm in the middle of rewatching Babylon Berlin in order to watch season 4 and 5. All doom and glitter and the party and depravity that never ends, and Charlotte and Gereon are such engaging and complicated lead characters. Still love it.
Also watching season 2 of World on Fire, which is a fine show, though not nearly as good. But it does have Jonah Hauer King in it though, and I am a simple woman, let me watch that man having an existential crisis and I'm THERE. He looks SO handsome when he doesn't know what's going on, lol.
Last Book/Fic Finished: I've been struck hard by project moving, so I've mostly been listening to Agatha Christie audiobooks. The last time I moved, I moved into a single room, and by the time I moved was living in the apartment by myself along with all the new stuff I've acquired. It's been hellish. So cosy mysteries it is.
Last Book/Fic Abandoned: I was reading a biography on Robert the Bruce that I abandoned once project moving started up and I stopped having the bandwidth for anything too complicated.
Currently Reading: Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, excellent so far, which is not surprising, since I've loved all of his books that I've read.
Last Thing Researched for Art/Writing/Hyperfixation: Waltzing in the 19th century.
Favorite Online Fandom Memory: The buck wild hour long quarantine era chats with the Nabrina crowd in the discord.
Favorite Old Fandom You Wish Would Drag You Back In/Have A Resurgence: CAOS I guess? The Nabrina fandom is still one of the least toxic ones I've ever been in, at least the little corner that I was in.
I'm counting on a Batcat fandom resurgence once the next Battinson movie comes out in like 500 years (sob!)
Favorite Thing You Enjoy That Never Had an Active or Big "Fandom" but You Wish It Did: Oh so many things. Fandom culture is brutal these days because people are moving on so fast. Like the Little Mermaid came out this spring and it seems mostly dead already. Or perhaps people are just in other places that tumblr?
Tempting Project You're Trying to Rein In/Don't Have Time For: Everything? Lol. Between trying to paint my new flat and christmas and some family stuff going on it feels like I don't have time for anything at all right now. Including the self-indulgent smut fic that I'm writing for the Little Mermaid at the moment. But that smut fic is my happy place at the moment, so I must persist!
tagging @robertdeniroimdb @bugsysiegels @raxiesrot @gothamsgaygirlgang @imaginejolls @deadgirlsupremacy @sweet-reverie along with anyone else who'd like to have a go

Babylon Berlin gets a new home in the US after Netflix unceremoniously dropped it on Feb 28 and Season 4 will stream in America, finally!! Premieres June 25. By the way, MHz Choice has been around for a while and offer a wide selection of international tv (including Tatort, Germany’s longest running crime show by a million miles).

So what is your opinion about 80 days as a whole? Imo it's just not a very well written show that tried to do this and that but didn't seem to have the writing/directing skills to join the intended dots.
I was full of anticipation because I loved the book as a kid (and am not a Verne purist, quite the opposite), and besides DT I also loved Leonie Benesch from Babylon Berlin, so this adaptation seemed made for me. The end result to me was mixed. On the one hand clunky dialog is hard to swallow and the dotted plot lines are visible all too often. On the the other hand I seriously consider this part as one of DT's best TV roles through his whole career, it really has everything for him to stretch all possible acting muscles and in its scope seems almost Shakespearean imo. Acting really is its only saving grace imo. Acting, the chemistry between the leads and some scenery (the effects after covid struck were sometimes not very good). So overall, as a show I find it more disappointing than not, but if I take my mind off its narrative failures I: 1. can't help but be charmed by the leads' cozy little circle of losers chemistry; 2. can't help but admire Tennant frolicking with all the different facets of the character, tragic patheticness and heroic weshallovercoming of it all despite often extremely silly and unimaginative lines...
As a show it was just okay. like you said the writing was clunky in parts and it tried to teach you racism/feminism/colonialism lessons in such a heavy handed way, like an after school special
All that said, i enjoyed it without any reservation. The writing and production value were just okay enough. I think the three leads were so good and all had such great chemistry as duos and as a trio. I just have a weakness for a good little found family and they really nailed it
