I have a lot of hcs about Moon I’d like to explore in an ask blog I hopefully open soon >> especially her relationship with ancients, her group and five pebbles in particular hoopefully. She’s a really mild person, because of the way she carries herself, but has a lot to her character. At least I like to hc her that way!

She does feel responsibility over Pebbles, but I doubt she ever blames herself for the situation which they ended up in. I also doubt the responsibility felt forced to her!

Or well I at least enjoy the hc that she loves thinking herself as a big sister! She likes to dote on people and help out when she can. Though her approach does end up being one where she holds your hand a lot (not for proud iterators oops!!!!)

Also passive agressive moon…? yes…. just yes. we deal with anger by looking at you wrong bahahah

The rot was gossip material it is very upsetting!! but a little funny! Not to mention how iterators reffered to Pebbles I found myself snickering. “The near Looks to the Moon” like alright sheesh. People also tried to contact poor Pebbles i think! Not just his local group! Imagine how stressful that is.

Suns feels like that one nihilistic atheist guy with a big ego who overshares his opinions a lot and thinks the world sucks and has like unchecked anxiety.

But that’s probably just me hehe. I think Suns and Pebbles had fun being hateful little goons and then Srs dropped his depressing opinions which.. aren’t even fully wrong. Isn’t it sad. Pebbles ended up exactly in the way which srs described. Something he was so afraid of he gave himself the rot over </3

Not a morning person: She’s super groggy in the morning and her sisters sometimes practically have to drag her out of bed on the weekends. She's too eepy to make her bed so Laura helps her with it. A coffee drinker in the morning for sure. Also messy hair, not like a bird's nest but an adequate amount.

I can also imagine Charlotte and her fighting for space in the bathroom when brushing their teeth/hair and Laura is just helpless in the doorway LMAO

Subtle ways of showing affection: Saph is obviously not a very affectionate person. She doesn't really know how to communicate she cares abt someone, so she tries her best in subtle ways, like a hand on their shoulder with maybe a gentle squeeze, asking if they're alright/checking in on them. She acts all serious as if it's part of her "job" but it's how she shows she cares.

Dragon care: This is a silly one but giving her dragons a good scrub and a bath!! She gets dressed in clothes that can get soaked and puts her hair up. She goes outside and uses a hose and a bigass brush to scrub them. She gives them all a nice soak and some scritches on their scales once a month, basic dragon care :>

ranch au ...................my beloved and most cherished ranch au. a lotta people prolly have this idea but here is my interpretation of it i suppose

to sum it up rly quickly it's the boys not getting a permanent goodbye and Instead sticking together and going to live on time and malon's ranch happily ever after <333 that's it that's the plot GVEAIYGV

sometime after wars is exiled from castle town and he's had a bit to reflect, he realizes that he's not gonna have Any place to stay when they separate. he hates thinking about their inevitable goodbye in any capacity, but he knows that at some point he's gonna have to come to terms w the fact that he won't have them forever (he will.) and they'll have to say goodbye for good (no.)

he's . obviously very troubled by this in general but That on top of the exile has him stressed and upset and worrying about the future and how he'll even continue without them. the chain can See he's upset—of course he is, he was just betrayed by his "friends" and banned from his home, stripped of his title—and luckily, time comes to da rescue :)

time knows wars is worrying abt living situations n such on top of the Betrayal(tm), and he,,, offers him a place, at the ranch :) they both know very well that that might not be possible—fate drags them around as it is, and they doubt it'll be kind enough to allow wars such a luxury—but the offer is there, if they find that it's possible. and wars isso fucking touched by that that he nearly cries GVIAEYGV

fast forward to . The Inevitable. in this au they Do say their goodbyes, and they Do separate and branch off into their different eras. everything goes as it should, according to fate. everything goes well Except the fact that there's only 8 portals. wars' isn't there. and that just,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

that kinda cements it in wars' head that he's truly been thrown away by his Entire Era. why else would fate not let him go back home? that means he's Truly not needed anymore, and just like artemis and impa, his world abandoned him when he stopped being useful. even fate says there's no point in going back. wars might as well not even exist there anymore

so he goes through time's portal instead. and for the next few days they live on the ranch and ,,try not to fall apart. time basically just lost seven of his fuckin boys, the one remaining one an absolute wreck and definitely working himself to the ground to keep his mind busy and Also to sate that fear that he'll be thrown out by time too if he's not useful enough (malon is more than welcoming to wars and so very happy to have him there and she'sso fuckin gentle w him u don't even know)

and for those few days, they both live w Giant holes in their chests. it feels utterly and dreadfully empty, to just continue life after a loss that great. they're both constantly reminded of the other boys and neither of them are sleeping much at all; wars and ledge were So incredibly close and wars constantly misses him every fuckin moment and all the work he's doing around the ranch is not doin a goddamn thing to distract him from it. time has to stop him from overworking himself too hard multiple times

but one night time's lyin in bed, unable to sleep and Feeling Empty, and then wars is suddenly banging on his and malon's bedroom door. he drags them outside—wars has his sword on him, that's not a good sign—and lo behold, when they step onto the porch, there is a portal in front of their house. just,,,,,,, sitting there. waiting

call it magic or a sixth sense of sorts, but for some reason, Both of them know this isn't a simple calling for another adventure. they just,,, know it in their bones. this isn't that. somehow, somewhere in their minds, time and wars both understand what fate is offering them

they quickly pack, fully arming themselves just in case they're wrong, and they say goodbye to malon in hopes that they'll only be gone a few days or so (they,,, hope to god)

they r dropped in skyloft. so far, promising

they track down sky. he bursts into tears at the sight of them GVUYEAGV at first he thinks it's another adventure, and they say while they can't Promise it's not, they r pretty sure—"like . 80% sure"— that it's smth else entirely. the Opposite, rly

sky goes w them. next up is four, a tearful reunion ensues, same explanation is given. it repeats and repeats and repeats until they,, eventually have everybody :) Everybody is back together—and yes, wars and ledge did run to each other and absolutely Tackle the other

one last portal stands before them. they don't know for sure it's the last one, but they Hope. they hope to god. they all,, hold their breaths and walk through it .

and they r deposited right back where they'd left at the ranch

there is . a sort of strange, underlying apprehension that resides w the sheer Holy Shit We're Together and Home. it's the fear—mostly and justifiably felt by legend, since he's experienced,, what, 7 journeys now ? give or take—that fate is simply gathering them together at a safe spot just to get ready to throw them into smth else

in reality they Can't know what the Entities behind these portals r doing, what their intentions are. they can only assume. but ultimately, even though legend honestly doesn't think his body can Make it through another adventure, if he's dragged into another one and it's w These idiots ? he'd go, and risk destroying his body and mind a lot more in the process, just to spend more time w them. it's not the ,, best circumstances to spend time w ur family, but hey . when else is fate gonna let him do it

malon sees them all back in one piece and races for them, and that's sorta the thing they need to snap out of their little shell-shocked trances and Celebrate. it's . a very big emotional rollercoaster GVYEAGV they cry and laugh and holler and while they're all distantly aware there is a chance this isn't the end of their journeys and there's more to go, they still celebrate. they're back together. gang's all here

and this lets the boys be boys. they all get to live in a normal household (as,, normal as a house full of traumatized heroes can get) w PARENTAL FIGURES . HALLELUJAH. and the younger boys get to be kids and the older boys gets to catch up on a childhood that was taken from them. they get to be normal people

eventually time expands the ranch house to accommodate them. it is a very big change—malon: "there are 8 extra people in my house and i love them all dearly but also there are 8 extra people in my house."—and yeah they definitely struggle to adjust a bit, but eventually everything calms and settles and it's Peaceful. they live peaceful lives, for once

AND YES I . I KNOW THIS HAS MANY MANY HOLES IN IT. but frankly my dear i do not give a damn HVGIEAGVA don't think about how all of them effectively left their families to join a different one. don't think abt that. they visit . it is canon in my eyes that the portals occasionally appear and let them visit their families. it's absurd but have u been paying attention ? so is everything else GVIEAYGV

ofc it's not all flowers n rainbows. they all just went through the fucking ringer w this last journey, and for people like legend who barely had any time in between each adventure to process the trauma, he's got,,,, a lot of catching up to do. they all struggle w a lot of different things, and even several months in they r still learning each others' boundaries when it comes to living in the same household

legend doesn't unpack his bag until 2 months in because he's fully convinced it's not over and he wants to be ready and packed when another portal comes to yank him from reality. hyrule's never,, lived in a home like this and he feels a bit out of place and unsure of what the etiquette is. twi in particular is absolutely terrified of the possibility that they could be dragged into smth else or separated again. both bc he's dealt w this before—being separated from midna between realms—and bc time, well.... the hero's shade thing is another can of worms entirely.

wars is still terrified he'll be thrown out despite the numerous reassurances from time, malon, And the others that they'd never. even though he had several years between the end of the war and the beginning of lu, a Few Years is not enough time to process and even Begin to heal from all the trauma that came from that war. he's still paranoid. he can't go outside at night, even within the safety of the ranch fences—yes, he'll admit he's developed a fear of the dark over the years, terrified of traitors lunging at him from alleyways or from around corners

they all still take time to spar outside, working hard to hone skills, and when time gently reminds them that they don't Need to do that anymore, they all ,, look so shocked and dumbfounded. a lot of them still keep emergency potions in their bags that they take to town. several of them r armed at all times w Some sort of weapon on them, even in the house

legend is still in Adventure Mode and keeps buying useful tools for journeys he might need, even though he's never going on one again. wild realizes that he doesn't have to mold his recipes around what will give them all the biggest buff in strength or defense; they don't need that anymore. he can just make whatever tastes the best w Whatever he wants

u get it. they all slowly learn to Live, instead of survive. they help each other heal in a safe environment, in a world they no longer have to babysit. time has his boys again. gang's all here

phil and tommy met when tommy came into phil's work looking for a job, just as a last-ditch effort since everyone else had turned him down and he was trying just one more place. turns out tommy does in fact get a job! and also a dad! :D

phil KNOWS how it feels to be an outcast, cause much like tommy he has things that make him different and "inhuman" so naturally he feels a quick connection with the kid. and it's clear that tommy doesn't have anywhere to go and lacks adult figures in his life, so why not just take him under his wing for a bit? especially considering that tommy works with phil it makes it extra easy. phil can just eye tommy from a distance in the earlier days where he didn't want to jump RIGHT into adopting tommy. also he didn't want to scare tommy away cause there'd been a certain event that had to do with tommy trying to find work that phil new about

Quaint, cozy yet vibrant. The coffee shop was a place that couldn’t possibly be located in New York, it didn’t quite fit the description of the city that never slept. Perhaps that was exactly the reason why you kept coming back to the place that once held your happiest memories with the person who was no longer a part of your life.

While you worked for SHIELD and your job included filing paperwork, there were certain perks that allowed access to the Avengers facility to collect mission reports on most days from Natasha or Clint but on some lucky days, Captain America. Oblivious to your knowledge, a set of ocean blue eyes had found yours irresistible and intriguing during your visits to the tower and his rare stay-overs on Midgard.

One rainy afternoon while it was your day off, you chose to catch up on some reading whilst enjoying your regular vanilla latte with some lemon blueberry muffins at your favourite café. The seat you’d unconsciously chosen appeared enormous now that you were alone, that cushioned window ledge seat you cuddled in with your beloved on numerous summer days, laughing and swapping life stories.

Your reminiscent sigh diverted Thor’s attention from the massive platter in front of him towards your direction. He observed how your eyes kept flitting between the book you clutched in your hands and the empty space next to you, how every so often your gaze wandered out the window while your fingers mindlessly played with a stray lock of hair, how your beautiful features held a look of sorrow that made him wonder who in their right minds would dare hurt such a lovely maiden.

The urge to talk to a Midgardian had never been as strong as Thor’s mind raced with ideas on approaching you, just as a plausible one was finalized, Jane Foster tugged on his arm before resuming her ramblings on something related to astrophysics – Thor had zoned out long ago. When his gaze returned towards the table at the far end of the café, he frowned to find an empty table with half a muffin lying a small dish and no sign of you.

It had been months since he last saw you, memory of your forlorn face still fresh in his mind as he made his way inside the café after ordering yet another sizeable meal, this time just for himself. Thor was delighted when he saw you perched on the same seat, clutching the same novel, your table filled with the same food he had observed last time. The smell of bacon, eggs, pancakes and coffee filled your nostrils as your head peeked out of your book to seek its source. A rather good-looking gentleman with long golden locks eyeing his meal with a look of utter glee caught your attention. He must have heard you inhale because you quickly ducked under your novel when his eyes had found yours.

“Pardon me miss, do you wish to share this meal with me?”

Thor’s voice loud enough to turn a few heads towards your direction, cheeks burning with embarrassment at this point. How you wished the earth would swallow you up at this moment, since that wasn’t an option, you stuck to storming out of the café, leaving Thor frowning, confused at your unexpected and sudden exit.

A few weeks passed since he last saw you, his expectant eyes scanned the busy café before landing on you at your usual table. This time, Thor wasted no time in approaching you, his large strides took him towards you in no time. 

“Umm hello. I’m Thor, son of Odin. Would you be so kind to allow me to join you for a cup of coffee?”

He offered a kind smile and an outstretched hand, while you were temporarily stunned at this sudden interruption, that too by someone as strikingly good-looking as Thor Odinson. You glanced around the occupied tables, considering letting the God join yours before taking his hand and introducing yourself. 

“Thank you Lady (Y/N).” 

“It’s no problem. The place is quite busy anyway.” 

Thor frowned as he saw you get back to your book, feeling a little disheartened that you didn’t seem up for a chat. 

A few minutes passed with you reading the same line from your book over and over again and Thor fidgeting with his phone, not really knowing what people did sticking it in front of their faces for hours on end. Soon, the waitress brought your usual coffee and blueberry muffins, reminding Thor he was actually famished and had completely forgotten about ordering.

“Please help yourself.” You held up the plate of muffins for him to take, a kind smile decorated on your face. 

“Thank you so much.”

Thor accepted one and bit right into it, forgetting to take off the lining as it stuck to his beard much to his embarrassment while you stifled your giggle. 

“It’s okay, I didn’t see anything.” 

Shaking your head, you placed your book right in front, hiding behind it to laugh. 

“May I ask what made you so unhappy Lady (Y/N)?” Thor questioned, after a few moments of silence, taking you by surprise. 

“Excuse me?” 

“I didn’t mean to pry but I saw you some weeks ago and I felt the need to know more, only if you wish to.”

ok so i know what southern gothic is, but i'd rlly love to hear your thoughts about americana gothic bc i hadn't run across that as an actual genre/literary term before but im very intrigued?

looking at it now i think the subgenre might just be american gothic but when i think of that i think of the painting so. i have no braincells tonight but regardless of if the label i was using was right the thing i was talking abt was gothic lit thats both set in america and inexorably tied to the countrys roots.

so like my uh theory is thats kinda what people wanted to be making when they were making those [state]-gothic posts but it missed the mark either because what they were posting just like. wasnt gothic or was so hyper specific and curated to their experiences that it just,, wasnt rly anything lol. produced zero impact. at least to me idk.

again im being petty because like i just rly rly like this kind of horror that explores (among other things) the relationship between people inhabiting the country and the immense violence the land itself has seen. (whoa look at me tying it all back to that whole locational horror thing from earlier whoaa)

also if this is something that like interests you, i recommend checking out "letters from an american farmer", or even just some of the later chapters since, i get it, the entire thing is A Lot. its a series of fictional letters from 1782 written from the perspective of a farmer trying to eke out a living in the colonies which maybe more than anything else documents his gradually declining faith in the new world as he contends with both the natural world and the manmade atrocities around him.

this all probably sounds kind of off the wall considering the usual stuff i tend to recommend here, but like, it kinda goes off? i mean if you think about it the epistolary novel popular in that time period was sort of the first found-footage. makes ya think! /hj

all im saying is "letters" was kind of the og and while theres not like just one way to talk about horror and history intertwined, i feel like this is kind of a good place to kinda build a foundation from? oh and ofc if ur interested in getting into american/southern gothic but want something more.. readable i guess, youre really never going to do better than "beloved" i dont think. yea like just read beloved.
