venus biquintile pluto is a really interesting aspect. the biquintile is usually associated with creativity and the development of artistic ability, and with venus being involved, there is even more potential and a genuine love for art. the native will find happiness and connection through their creative pursuits. with pluto on the other end of the aspect, something interesting happens. there can be a tendency towards obsession; they are more dedicated and more patient, with a strong work ethic and a desire to find meaning through their art, and it can bring them real catharsis. they may discover and nurture repressed parts of themselves through their art, and overall, there is a bit of a darker theme to this otherwise light and bright placement.

moon square pluto is often given a really negative spin online; i’ve seen everything from emotionally out of control to “will abuse their children”! this just isn’t a helpful way to interpret harsh aspects. my experience with this placement is that big emotions are very frightening, often because of the native’s early experiences. they seek to “control” their emotions, which can make them quite vulnerable to impulsive or addictive behaviours. they often have a deep relationship with mother figures, and with their children, which yes, at their worst, can become enmeshed and intense. but at their best, these relationships are intimate and founded on mutual trust, long lasting and able to weather the harshest storms.

pluto conjunct ascendant natives have a really intense gaze. i think that usually we only think of the eyes when they think of the pluto stare, but to me it goes a lot further than that; especially with the conjunction, pluto-ascendant people look with their whole body. they have the intense eye contact, sure, but they tend to also have a hard mouth and slightly furrowed brow, a certain tension in their jaws and necks. they look like a cat about to pounce in a way, you can almost see that electrical energy under their skin.

[the astrology of pedro pascal] - soft mars aspects (major) | mars sextile chiron

hey y’all! in this series we’ll be covering major soft/positive aspects (conjunctions, sextiles, and trines) to pedro’s mars. he doesn’t have any major hard aspects outside of the square to his venus, but the minor positive aspects to his mars (quintiles/biquintiles and septiles) will be covered in an upcoming series, as well as the rest of the major and minor aspects to the rest of his planets and asteroids in his chart! i also want to note that when it comes to these aspects, they have to be examined through the lens of the entire chart, as they’re influenced by a myriad of factors within it.

mars sextile chiron (within 0.2°)

– content warning for violence, (childhood) trauma, and abuse. nothing detailed or explicit, just an advisory for those who want to avoid these topics.

in this aspect, the planetary bodies are harmonious and their energy ignites the native with the motivation to act. mars represents our motivation, libido, and assertiveness, and how we navigate our aggression and anger. it rules war, violence, and accidents, as well as things that are deemed traditionally masculine. as venus’ counterpart, it’s indicative of our sense of masculinity, as well as the type of man/masc-presenting person we’re attracted to, or the darker/yang-like qualities we exhibit ourselves and are drawn to in others. chiron is notably referred to as the “wounded healer.” it is representative of the strength we find through our pain and vulnerabilities, and our ability to empathize and pass on wisdom through our suffering. 

with this aspect, there may be wounding surrounding the expression of volatile emotions and behavior. this could also manifest as wounds in relation to one’s own masculine/dark energy, or the expression of it from those around them. these natives could have an aversion to authority, and find themselves inclined to rebel against it or to crumble beneath it. in pedro’s case, he has referenced not “being very good with authority,” something i elaborate more on in the sun opposite pluto post. through healing, they find the empowerment to use their voice and express their emotions in an assertive, productive manner, in turn encouraging others to stick up for themselves and for what it is they believe in. 

in youth, there may have been painful or traumatizing experiences with violence or potential violence. this could have manifested as aggression on behalf of the parents, whether it be towards the child or between the mother and father (or guardians in general.) this could’ve also manifested as turbulence within the household as well, or in pedro’s case, the parents may have experienced aggression or potential violence from forces beyond the home. 

this can result as the native either having an inclination towards expressing aggressive behavior, or it can result as a fear of anger and violence from others and from themselves, the latter pedro has alluded to in his Wired 2023 interview where he speaks about playing Joel from The Last of Us: “did you bring anything personal to the role? ‘that’s the fun part—how much you get to externalize internal darkness in a safe way and bring in things that are from your nightmares.’ such as? ‘joel’s capacity for violence, and being good at it. i didn’t get into any physical fights growing up, and definitely not as an adult. violence scares me tremendously. is it the fear of violence in general? is it the fear of your own violence?’”

these natives may express their emotions in a “passive-aggressive” kind of way, or avoid direct-confrontation as feelings of vitriol tend to linger below the surface within their subconscious. despite this, with life experience and through healing, they find empowerment in acting on their desires and not backing down in the face of obstacles. because of the adversities they may have experienced in youth, they can grow to become self-assured, willful leaders and mentors for others. they tend to feel confident in their strengths and in their viewpoints due to navigating through conflict in their youth.

an evolved manifestation of this aspect can also result in someone who instates their personal boundaries, and is direct and assertive when others impede upon them. there may be an inherent sensitivity surrounding people or situations that threaten their personal expression, independence, or livelihood in general. upon advocating for themselves, they're able to have more productive and healthy relationships with their loved ones. this can also translate to being innately protective of others who they may deem as vulnerable or weak. 

ultimately, this aspect grants the native with the opportunity to utilize their pain and wounding as a means to find the inner strength and confidence to remove stagnation from within themselves and their day to day lives. those with this aspect naturally embody the archetype of the sacred warrior, and house the innate ability to approach aggression and competition constructively, in a way that feeds their spirit and satisfies their expansive heart.

you might think that a semi-sextile is the "little sister" to the sextile, however it operates more like a conjunction in my opinion. it takes on it's own properties separate from a sextile as can act as a neutral aspect sometimes

literal definition: semi-sextiles occur with neighboring signs (ex. aries with taurus or pisces or like aquarius with capricorn and pisces) are at 30° apart from each other

a semi-sextile makes signs/planets constantly at the edge of the corner. they can just barely “see” each other before the text person makes the turn. like how the sun and the moon can get a glimpse of each other as one sets and the other rises, but never quite meeting (so sad..)

think of the semi-sextile as the two enemies that hate each other, and are forced to work with each other. but they discover that they have more in common than they think

some astrologists completely disregard the semi-sextile or consider it a “bad aspect”. however, just like any sign/aspect in astrology, nothing is inherently “bad” it is just how the energies mix together and/or how you handle these energies

when i think of semi-sextiles, i think of EVOLUTION. semi-sextiles are all about learning lessons, moving out of the comfort zone and letting go, developing premature energies, the clue to finding hidden opportunities, finding similarities in the differences, “right place right time”, waiting to take action, helping to try to merge energies, etc.

however, like any aspect, the semi-sextile has its downsides as well. the road to getting these energies to work together can be hard at first. patience is the key and being open to transformation. it seems like these energies cannot possibly merge together. they are constantly at odds and/or just have different ways of going about things.

just like my rules for quintiles and biquintiles, i keep semi-sextiles at an orb of 2 degrees or tighter & I try to only use personal planets or angles to ensure that the energies can be felt as intense as they can get. however, i try for exact aspects for minor aspects most of the time.

examples:

natal with venus semi-sextile pluto, you are passionate about what you love and what you love. you are drawn to powerful and compelling emotional and sexual attractions and experiences that you may feel you have little choice or control over. you crave intensity and these incidents provide you with the opportunity to satisfy your immediate desires. a tendency to be very jealous of and possessive is apparent. you tend to keep tight reins on your partners, you do not want them to question or control you in any way. this makes for very one-sided types of relationships. you need to become aware that your jealous and possessive traits will drive away these people that want to love you. the challenge here is to transform your values. important psychological problems are being worked out because of and through your relationships with others. because of this you may attract people who are bad for you. this acts as a form of karma for the things you have done to others because of your refusal to change. you are now reaping what you have sown previously. you are being given the chance to wipe your slate clean if you do not respond to evil with evil. Release all thoughts of revenge and learn to turn the other cheek. This shows a readiness to "pay" for past mistakes and cruelties.

composite sun semi-sextile mars you are both completely different individuals but you see where each other is coming from and can meet each other half way on most things. there is tremendous energy in the relationship that can be hard to control at times. your sex drives and sexual expression might be different but you can both live with the differences as they are usually positive. sometimes, it can lead to problems (big or small) popping up in the relationship that inspire some sort of disagreement. there can be some basic clash of egos in your relationship, and this is likely to be the root these problems. there is a need to work on allowing one another to express yourselves and find a constructive outlet for the energy. compromising and discussing problems in the relationship can help so things do not become too heated. it is important to try not to change each other, instead working with the similarities and instead learning from each other's perspective.

there's a lot here but i will say that neptune is super interesting to me! people probably get the wrong idea about you a lot but you probably also have a very active astral/whatever life, when you're sleeping or if you enter it intentionally. and that pluto would make you magnetic and intriguing but also probably very intimidating to most people and i could see you finding yourself in relationships/situationships with lots of power struggles. probably also power struggles in career. sometimes you win them, though. you can talk your way out of anything if you let yourself.
