FNAF SELF INSERT HAS BEEN CREATED WOOO!!!!!
Theyre named Venus,,, they r William's nibling and,, after finding out abt the dead kids,, was yoiked by him and thrown into what was basically like. Idk actually it's kinda like cryogenic freezing or smthing I. Didn't think that far.
ANYWAY some weird experiments and many decades later,, they wake up (still a teen) in an abandoned basement, get out and realize Whoa This is Not the 1980s, find whatever they can on afton/the pizzeria locations, and eventually end up in the mega pizzaplex!! :3
They also have their own Helpy!! He was the prototype for the modern helpy and was ultimately abandoned (with Venus) after Afton did a whoopsies and got springtrapped. He was stuck alone down there for a while (poor guy has anxiety </3)
Helpy and Venus have a digital link that let's them both talk to each other and see with the other's eyes!! Well. Eye. Helpy is missing one so neither can see great with his vision, oops.
Anyway they r both so silly,, I might make another doodle page of them eventually :3

I FORGOT TO POST ABT THE CORE REFRESH MONSTER HIGH DOLLS
(for the main 5 the left pics have the core refresh on the left and og core dolls on the right)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not the biggest fan of lagoona but i don't like her g3 design in general so it's def just me. i do think she has a stronger style in her refresh, but shes missing that swimmer aesthetic that i think is so important to her design. also less blue in her hair she really is lagoona pink now /j
Tumblr media Tumblr media
FRANKIE WITH PANTS LETS GOOOOO i think the leaked prototype had a stronger color scheme (the pink streak in their hair isn't doing it for me) but i LOVE what they've been doing with frankie's style recently, really hype for that welcome committee doll 👀 also NO MORE PINK LIPS HUZZAH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tbh cleos kinda giving nefra in her refresh??? i do really like it tho, a MUCH stronger design vs her og core doll. i do think cleo's dolls have been some of the strongest out of g3 so this is no surprise to me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
draculaura and clawdeen leaked a while ago but MAN did they do them justice. giving clawdeen her dark hair back and the fur on the jacket is SUCH a better execution, i love that they gave drac a sun hat i think that's so cute and i love that her outfit feels like a callback to g1 :) and again BLACK LIPS WERE FREE FROM THE HOT PINK NIGHTMARE-
bonus i forgot to review these two when they leaked
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and GOD g3s designs just keep getting stronger and stronger, i never had g1 venus so she might be my first g3 👀 i usually dont like the g3 pets (core refresh is no exception) but i think spectras pet is SO cute, spectras eyes are so pretty in the stock photos too im excited to see her in person :O
tldr i think it's so funny how g3 mh just keeps improving and judging by the lack of neon pink lipstick this time around seems to actually be LISTENING to fans meanwhile rainbow high is going down in flames LMAO

On the topic of Rosette with supernatural powers, I’ve actually wanted to retcon her dad into being a canon character for a long time now, but since ultimately who her father is doesn’t matter (since is not around and Whitney is just single momming it) it’s made it so I hesitate to use most characters since would inevitably lead to me having to be like “but would they really not be involved at all? Would Whitney not at least push them to interact with their daughter to some extent if whoever it is is at least a half way decent person?”
Thus one night stand route with someone Whitney wouldn’t try and reconnect with seems like the route to go. And for a time I had seriously considered using one of the characters from Orre, since Whitney has a ship name with a surprising amount of them. Venus actually stood out to me as having fun potential, but therein lay the issue with using a character like that. Venus (and even most of the other Orre villains) comes across that there is some degree of genetic engineering going on. Or that they’re all off in some way. Not just run of the mill humans. To explain why they have such weird powers/look off/etc. So if one of them was Rosette’s dad, would this not get passed on to Rosette?
Per my own Rules of how inheritance works, it would to at least some extent, and since Rosette was always meant to just be an average girl who sometimes has weird things happen to her since lives in the weird region of Johto, it went against the core of her character.
So ultimately nothing came of this pondering and her bio dad is still just an “in limbo/doesn’t actually matter” thing. But was thinking about this again and wanted to note it here.

i want to show my dolls on here more Soo..
my just now completed venus and my core refresh clawdeen ∩^ω^∩
Tumblr media
i hope you think they’re cool too 😅
notes ~
- i’m so proud of myself for venus’s jacket, i didn’t use a single pattern from other sources, i just made one up! (although, i knew how it should’ve looked like cause of my watching of custom doll videos) but still!!
i of course just wrapped the piece of parchment paper around the doll to make sure it fits well enough, but i didn’t even make a prototype jacket!! and it still turned out so nice!! also the zipper DOES work but it’s a little hard to zip up
- speaking of zippers, to make clawdeen’s shoes more interesting and to reference schools out i added faux zippers to her shoes! i feel they make them so much more cooler
- venus’s new shorts DO still have working pockets ☺️
ok i think those are all my random thoughts for now, i may make an edit adding more random info when i was customizing these (*≧∀≦*)

I adapted my Poppy Playtime OC Millicent Legrand to the Space Rider AU of @onyxonline
I plan on maybe doing a drawing of her friend Diana in the future, but first I'll move on to Aurora's other outfits before starting another drawing.
I'm not used to drawing anthropomorphic characters, so she might look a little strange (I think I looked at the drawing for too long because now something about it bothers me and I don't know what it is).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Full name: Millicent Colette Legrand
Preferred name: Aurora/Venus
Age: 20 - 25
Pronouns: Any
Gender: Female (Genderfluid)
Sexuality: Pansexual, ambiamorie
Height: 165 cm (5'5") - 185 cm (6'1") (changing)
Species: Fennec Fox/Nymph
About Aurora:
Aurora is the princess of the planet Galatea. Her job is to ensure the safety of her planet and ensure that other planets' ecosystems can recover after a disaster.
Her mother, Queen Cybele, currently holds the title of “Mother Nature,” which is passed on to Aurora upon completion of her training and studies.
Although she is not a Rider fighting against the Cult of the Prototype, she cares deeply about other planets and will help them (and their ecosystem) recover after a major disaster.
Aurora might not be good with close Combat, but she has enough experience with magic that it makes up for it. (She does her best in hand-to-hand combat training, although she probably needs a few extra sessions.)
Aurora is a sweet pacifist that is willing to see the best in everyone. She is very respectful of other people and loves learning more about planets and their traditions.
While she behaves elegantly and gracefully towards her subjects or in her princely duties, in private she is very lively and cheerful. She loves taking care of the royal garden and even talks to the flowers when no one is looking.
She is currently doing her training on a spaceship while visiting other planets from time to time. She is very dutiful and tries to make a good impression when visiting other planets, as she is the representative of Galatea.
She doesn't like confrontation and tries to settle disputes rather than escalate things. But don't underestimate her because she doesn't hesitate to act when a fight breaks out.
When Aurora needs to fight, she much prefers to stay at a distance, as she is more suited to ranged attacks than close combat. When defense is needed, she creates a wall of thorny vines and heals her injured teammates.
She usually helps with the clean up after fights, such as capturing the cultists.
Power Capabilities:
Aurora is directly connected to the natural world and thus can communicate, influence, manipulate and control nature: all living beings and plants and natural phenomena, such as the weather and geology of the Earth, and the matter and energy of which all these things are composed. She can survive in any natural environment on different planets. She can control animals and plants and mimic their abilities and forms.
Because Aurora can communicate with nature, she becomes instantly familiar with her surroundings, the connection is so deep that the earth can respond to her emotions and desires (blossoming with flowers and calming weather when happy, making skies stormy or cause earthquakes when angry, shifting the landscape to gain the advantage in a fight, etc.)
Aurora can purify, heal and generally influence the health of nature, and considering the fact that they're helping the environment, plants and animals act favorably towards her. They have access to every living species of animal and can also draw strength from them and acquire their abilities. Nature obeys Aurora's every command and operate on a "hive mind", meaning Aurora can control an entire army of animals.
Power Limitations:
Control, discipline, and restraint are extremely important. Unconscious, emotion-influenced, impulsive, or reckless use of this power can be catastrophic.
Since the user's emotions affect nature directly, control is essential.
Distance, mass, precision, etc. depend upon of the knowledge, skill, and strength of the user, and their power's natural limits.

In your AU, if a toy ever had a wedding, what would it be like and what kind of chaos would likely ensue?
Dogday and Catnap's wedding would be an event that would go down in history with how chaotic it was (affectionate).
Skipping the arc in which Dogday and Catnap fall in love (again) and start dating, some years down the line they just look at each other and go "you know what would be fun? A wedding! In practice it wouldnt change a thing except some legal stuff but it would be so much fun to call you my husband AND also have it be on paper!", and, after talking with Angel + Prototype about it, it's wedding preparations!
I think Catnap would like it to be in the church he goes to, or at least have some catholic elements due to him being religious. Dogday doesn't mind (they talked about it since they started dating) but would like Angel to also add elements from their religion bc it just feels right. In the end, they pick a big wedding venue in order to host all the toys + human friends they would like to invite.
I know there would be – inevitably – a lot of media attention, despite Angel's best efforts in keeping the family away from any unecessary attention. I think at this point there's rumors of one of the "toys" Angel rescued being actually a monster, so when Prototype shows up the only surprise is that the media rumors are indeed true. Everyone who was invited already knew he existed and were used to him by this point so it's all okay!
Speaking of people: Dogday and Catnap invite their neighbors and the parents of the kids they help babysit with the other Smiling Critters. Catnap also invites his friends from the church and the old ladies are SO excited about it (they helped him talk to Dogday before they started dating)! Plus there's also the entire family there.
Craftycorn helps Dogday make his and Catnap's wedding dresses. She's literally vibrating when Dogday asks her for help, she was BORN for this. They make a trillion designs and settling in on one takes months – yes even Catnap has trouble picking a design. Also yes, Catnap's dress is black, he's a goth king.
Mommy Long Legs helps with the decoration. Picky is the one who took care of all the flowers used and also helped with the food. Kickin is helping everyone out with their tasks, and helps the couple pick the music. Bubba and Poppy meanwhile are helping with overall organization, but he and Delight go overboard with helping MLL with the lights so Poppy ends up doing most of the organization work. Speaking of which!
Poppy is there 24/7 next to Catnap and Dogday, making sure all the preparing is more fun than tiring, and eventually she and Kissy help Picky with the flowers and Crafty with the outfits. She's the one that made Catnap and Dogday FINALLY settle on a dress choice. They're glad to have at least one person who can help them settle on a final choice.
When the wedding happens, it's even more chaotic than planned, but in a good way. Everyone is crying, the single reporter allowed to record anything is also crying because she also became a family friend as the years went on, etc etc.
Prototype is trying not to cry, cries anyways because he never thought the kids would ever be able to live this much, Angel is crying because it's their kids getting married and they look so happy. They both get drunk and Angel is recorded dancing on a table, Dogday is laughing so much he's crying.
Mommy Long Legs sings karaoke and her voice is surprisingly good. She, Crafty and Dogday are all singing together while Bunzo is playing a clarinet in the background, and then Catnap joins them and it becomes a whole musical.
What no one expects, however, is Hoppy showing a video showcasing the couple's journey, and the video has OOOOLD recordings of when everyone was back at Playtime Co. pre-HoJ. Prototype found the recordings and gave to her. There's also lots of family videos from the years since the rescue, all in chronological order, featuring plenty of shenanigans and funny moments as well. Catnap and Dogday keep the video after the event, of course.
I dont know who they would pick as best man/woman but I am 100÷ sure this led to an argument. Not between them but between the other toys, because for Catnap and Dogday all Smiling Critters + Delight, Poppy and MLL should be best men and women, but Poppy is like "nononono that's too much!", but in the end they're all picked to be that.
Things that also happened:
Mommy Long Legs and Bobby playfully fighting each other over the flower bouquet. MLL doesn't even plan on marrying, she just wants to show off, and Bobby joined her because she's just excited.
Angel ended up catching the bouquet by pure accident. They were just chilling on the sidelines and then BAM, bouquet on their face. Dogday pretended it wasn't intentional on his part.
The humans kids + the mini critters making a nice surprise for Dogday and Catnap by making nice little drawings and folding them in paper airplanes.
Kickin was completely oblivious to one of the family's human friends flirting with him and genuinely thought the lady was just being nice.
Huggy ended up trapping himself on a tree and Catnap had to rescue him.
Bunzo, who had just hit 21, drinking for the fist time and proudly proclaiming "EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU HYPED ME SO MUCH FOR THIS?", cue to Angel drinking their 5th glass of alcohol and Bunzo staring at them in dissapointment.
Catnap and Dogday dancing forró and piseiro.
Dogday, a bit drunk, starting to cry upon realizing that yes, he just got married.
Prototype and Dogday having to drag Angel to a quieter area because they drank too much.
The following day news showcasing that Dogday and Catnap had their wedding ceremony. Wish I could know what the internet would think about it but I'm 100% sure the fandom for the Smiling Critters cartoon show will never let anyone not know that in real life, DayNap exists.
I think way more shenanigans happened, but on the top of my head, these were the main ones!

More doll leaks from Reddit not in the best quality but we get a new peak of returning G1 characters too 💕 I will repost more later if higher quality images surface of the others.
So excited for Cleo love the extra emphasis on egyptian mummy glamor this time especially with more wraps! 💎💫 Catty is cute love the curvier body and bigger calf rep I just wish her dress wasn't so plain and didn't just go straight down I think a flashy skater dress would have been everything but apparently this is a prototype doll so we will see in time.💗 Finally we have Venus and I'm loving the vines textured onto her legs along with the detailed shoes the most she is giving even more plant punk monster in G3 💚😵

"Celestial Tree" Talon Abraxas
So, there are 12 Great Orders of Spiritual Beings or Entities and these are in some way connected with and represented by the 12 Signs of the Zodiac, namely Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
And within the 12 Great Orders is the 7-fold “Hierarchy of Creative Powers” and these seven are connected in some way with the Seven Sacred Planets, which are Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and two others, which are exoterically said to be the Sun and the Moon, but which are in fact the mysterious planet Vulcan and another planet which has not been specifically named in the Theosophical teachings but which is described by HPB in “Transactions of the Blavatsky Lodge” as “a planet with a retrograde motion, sometimes visible at a certain hour of night and apparently near the moon. The occult influence of this planet is transmitted by the moon.”
This is what is said about the Seven Hierarchies . . .
1 – “The highest group is composed of the divine Flames, so-called, also spoken of as the “Fiery Lions” and the “Lions of Life,” whose esotericism is securely hidden in the Zodiacal sign of Leo. It is the nucleole of the superior divine World. They are the formless Fiery Breaths, identical in one aspect with the upper Sephirothal TRIAD, which is placed by the Kabalists in the “Archetypal World.””
2 – “The second Order of Celestial Beings, those of Fire and AEther (corresponding to Spirit and Soul, or the Atma-Buddhi) whose names are legion, are still formless, but more definitely “substantial.” . . . As the name shows, they are the prototypes of the incarnating Jivas or Monads, and are composed of the Fiery Spirit of Life. It is through these that passes like a pure solar beam, the ray which is furnished by them with its future vehicle, the Divine Soul, Buddhi. These are directly concerned with the Hosts of the higher world of our system. From these twofold Units emanate the threefold.”
3 – “The Third order corresponds to the Atma-Buddhi-Manas: Spirit, Soul and Intellect, and is called the “Triads.””
4 – “The Fourth are substantial Entities. This is the highest group among the Rupas (Atomic Forms). It is the nursery of the human, conscious, spiritual Souls. They are called the “Imperishable Jivas,” and constitute, through the order below their own, the first group of the first septenary host – the great mystery of human conscious and intellectual Being.”
5 – “The Fifth group is a very mysterious one, as it is connected with the Microcosmic Pentagon, the five-pointed star representing man. In India and Egypt these Dhyanis were connected with the Crocodile, and their abode is in Capricornus. These are convertible terms in Indian astrology, as this (tenth) sign of the Zodiac is called Makara, loosely translated “crocodile.” … The fifth group of the celestial Beings is supposed to contain it itself the dual attributes of both the spiritual and physical aspects of the Universe; the two poles, so to say, of Mahat the Universal Intelligence, and the dual nature of man, the spiritual and the physical. Hence its number Five, multiplied and made into ten, connecting it with Makara, the 10th sign of Zodiac. . . . It becomes the task of the fifth Hierarchy – the mysterious beings that preside over the constellation Capricornus, Makara, or “Crocodile” in India as in Egypt – to inform the empty and ethereal animal form [i.e. in the early period of humanity’s evolution on this globe in this Fourth Round] and make of it the Rational Man. This is one of those subjects upon which very little may be said to the general public. It is a MYSTERY, truly but only to him who is prepared to reject the existence of intellectual and conscious spiritual Beings in the Universe, limiting full Consciousness to man alone, and that only as a “function of the Brain.” Many are those among the Spiritual Entities, who have incarnated bodily in man, since the beginning of his appearance, and who, for all that, still exist as independently as they did before, in the infinitudes of Space. . . . To put it more clearly: the invisible Entity may be bodily present on earth without abandoning, however, its status and functions in the supersensuous regions.”
6 & 7 – “The sixth and seventh groups partake of the lower qualities of the Quaternary. They are conscious, ethereal Entities, as invisible as Ether . . . as it is the Sixth – on the downward scale of Spirituality – the last and seventh being the terrestrial Spirits (elementals) which gradually form, build, and condense his physical body – this Sixth group evolves no more than the future man’s shadowy form, a filmy, hardly visible transparent copy of themselves. . . . This sixth group, moreover, remains almost inseparable from man, who draws from it all but his highest and lowest principles, or his spirit and body, the five middle human principles being the very essence of those Dhyanis. Alone, the Divine Ray (the Atman) proceeds directly from the One.”

I'm now reading another of Heidi Ann Heiner's fairy tale collections. Sleeping Beauties: Sleeping Beauty and Snow White Tales from Around the World. Since I enjoyed Cinderella Tales from Around the World so much, I couldn't resist opening another of Heiner's books.
The first part of the book is devoted to the different international versions of Sleeping Beauty, the second part to the different versions of Snow White. This is followed by other tales of "sleeping beauties" that don't fit nearly into either category.
We start with the medieval Sleeping Beauty prototype tales from the 13th and 14th centuries.
*The earliest known prototype of the Sleeping Beauty story is the Norse and Germanic legend of Brynhild (a.k.a. Brunhild, Brunhilda, Brünnhilde, or other variations). This legend first appears in the Poetic Edda, the Prose Edda, and the Volsunga Saga from 13th century Iceland. It also appears in the German Nibelungenlied (although that version doesn't include the enchanted sleep), and its most famous modern adaptation is in Richard Wagner's four-opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen. The figure of Brynhild also inspired the Marvel superheroine Valkyrie.
**The Sleeping Beauty-like portion of the legend is this. The beautiful and strong-willed Brynhild is one of the valkyries, the warrior maiden servants (and in some versions daughters) of Odin (or Woden, Wotan, etc.) who preside over battlefields and bring the souls of fallen heroes to Valhalla. But Brynhild disobeys Odin by saving (or trying to save) the life of a warrior who was marked for death. (The man's identity, why he was meant to die, why she defends him, and whether she succeeds in saving him or not varies between versions.) As punishment, Odin banishes her to the mortal realm, pricks her with a "sleep thorn," and places her in a castle (or just on a rock) surrounded by a ring of fire, condemning her to sleep until a man brave enough to venture through the flames arrives to wake her and become her husband. (In some versions, she has attendants and servants who all sleep along with her.) Many years later, the fearless hero Sigurd, or Siegfried, succeeds in passing unharmed through the flames and wakes Brynhild by cutting off her valkyrie armor (or in later retellings influenced by Sleeping Beauty, with a kiss). The couple doesn't live happily ever after, however: their further adventures and eventual tragic fates are a story for another day.
**Even though it's a well-known fact that in "the original Sleeping Beauty stories," the prince (or his counterpart) impregnates the sleeping heroine and she wakes after she gives birth, no such thing happens in this earliest proto-version. If we assume that this really is the Western world's first tale of a heroine in an enchanted sleep, then it seems as if that sordid detail was a later addition.
*Next in Heiner's book come several medieval French Sleeping Beauty tales, mostly from Arthurian romances. These are the tales where we first see the motif of the heroine's love interest raping her in her sleep and fathering a child. Since few of them have ever been translated into modern English, the book simply summarizes them instead of printing them in full.
**The best-known of these stories, which most resembles Sleeping Beauty as we know it today, is the tale of Troylus and Zellandine from Le Roman de Perceforest, an Arthurian romance from 14th or 15th century France. In this tale, a knight named Troylus loves a princess named Zellandine. Then learns that while spinning, Zellandine has suddenly fallen into a deep sleep, from which no one can wake her. With the help of a spirit named Zephir and the goddess Venus, Troylus enters the tower where she lies and, at Venus's urging, he takes her virginity. Nine months later, Zellandine gives birth to a son, and when the baby sucks on her finger, she wakes. Zellandine's aunt now arrives, and reveals the whole backstory, which only she knew. When Zellandine was born, the goddesses Lucina, Themis, and Venus came to bless her. As was customary, a meal was set out for the three goddesses, but then the room was left empty so they could enter, dine, and give their blessings unseen; but the aunt hid behind the door and overheard them. Themis received a second-rate dinner knife compared to those of the other two, so she cursed the princess to someday catch a splinter of flax in her finger while spinning, fall into a deep sleep, and never awaken. But Venus altered the curse so that it could be broken and promised to ensure that it would be. When the baby sucked Zellandine's finger, he sucked out the splinter of flax. Eventually, Zellandine and Troylus reunite, marry, and become ancestors of Sir Lancelot.
***This tale provides some answers for questions that the traditional Sleeping Beauty raises. In the familiar tale, the king, the queen, and their court know about the curse, so why do they keep it a secret from the princess? Yes, they avoid upsetting her by doing so, but the end result is that when she finally sees a spindle, she doesn't know to beware of it. Why not warn her? And why is there a random old woman in the castle, spinning with presumably the kingdom's one spindle that wasn't destroyed, and why, despite living in the castle does she not know about the curse? (It's no wonder that most adaptations make her the fairy who cursed the princess in disguise.) Yet in this earlier version, there are no such questions: no one except the eavesdropping aunt knows about the curse, because it was cast in private, so no one can take precautions against it. Another standout details is the fact that Zellandine's sleep doesn't last for many years, and that the man who wakes her already loved her before she fell asleep. Disney didn't create those twists after all!
**The other medieval French Sleeping Beauty tales are Pandragus and Libanor (where Princess Libanor's enchanted sleep only lasts one night, just long enough for Pandragus to impregnate her), Brother of Joy and Sister of Pleasure (where the princess isn't asleep, but dead – yet somehow the prince still impregnates her – and is revived by an herb that a bird carries to her), and Blandin de Cornoalha (a knight who, refreshingly, doesn't impregnate the sleeping maiden Brianda, but breaks her spell by bringing a white hawk to her side).
*All of these early Sleeping Beauty tales are just one part of bigger poetic sagas. Maybe this explains why Sleeping Beauty is fairly light on plot compared to other famous fairy tales (i.e. we're told what's going to happen, and then it does happen, and it all seems inevitable from the start). Of course one argument is that it's a symbolic tale: symbolic of a young girl's coming-of-age, as the princess's childhood ends when she falls asleep and her adulthood begins when she wakes, and/or symbolic of the seasons, with the princess as a Persephone-like figure whose sleep represents winter and whose awakening represents spring. That's all valid. But maybe another reason for the flimsy plot is that the earliest versions of the tale were never meant to stand alone. They were just episodes in much longer and more complex narratives.

"I can easily imagine belonging to one man for my entire life, but he would have to be a whole man, a man who would dominate me, who would subjugate me by his inate strength. And every man—I know this very well—as soon as he falls in love becomes weak, pliable, ridiculous. He puts himself into the woman's hands, kneels down before her. The only man whom I could love permanently would be he before whom I should have to kneel."
--
The above is a quote from the book Venus in Furs, written by the man whom the act of masochism was named after, Leopold von Sacher-Mascoh. I think a lot of his work is of course, foundationally based in sex and gender dynamics and therein difficult to divorce from that context, but since I have an obsession with this damn movie and these two men who make up the core of it, I will at least attempt to in service of making this quote about my gay ship ❤️ indulge me, if you will.
I think the quote reveals some interesting facets of human nature as I can relate them back upon Billy and Stu (STOP LAUGHING. STOP LAUGHING). Though the line in context is spoken by a woman and is chiefly about the way that men love women (particularly in this historical context, as the source text is from 1870) I believe it also carries with it some interesting implications on human nature in romance and sex in general. Wanda speaks about losing her fascination with men who show themselves to be 'weak, pliable, ridiculous.' The way this clashes with typical societal expectations for what love is meant to look like is interesting to me. What is perceived to her (and, in my mind, to Stu, as I read this from his perspective) as weakness is something we might consider fondness. The way the heart grows tender and the gaze softens when resting on the object of one's affection. I could easily see how this could translate in some minds to a revealing of weakness as it smashes the artificial barrier of outward strength to reveal that the hardened exterior does, in fact, protect vital organs just as infallible as [his] own. And for someone who feels either profoundly unsafe or particularly in need of protection, that softness is in itself an attack upon the feeling of safety offered by the exterior coldness. In a sense, the speaker deifies the prospect of a lover by upholding an expectation of rigid emotionless protection. Or if not emotionless, emotions so well hidden so as to be imperceptible. And yet what intrigues me is that the speaker also speaks of belonging to the man in question, making the relationship something of a transaction, and yet I have trouble categorizing it as such. In essence what is being asked for is to belong to [him] in exchange for being belonged to, which when described in those terms is almost prototypical. And yet the dynamic is still subversive because it requires such a lack of what would be considered romance. No, the relationship the speaker asks for is one built primarily on acts of violence and service, of the safety of ownership in exchange for being owned. A dog asks to be collared, as a tag emblazoned with its owners name is the only real measure of safety keeping it tethered to the place it calls home. To treat a dog as an equal ensures only that they will be mistreated, such is the way of animals. And yet it goes even a step beyond this, as the violence demanded by the speaker is not solely reflected outward. [He] asks not for a loyal protector but an indiscriminately dominant figure who will put [him] in [his] own place just as well as he will do to someone else. As I said, that revealing act of softness does nothing but that - reveal softness. It exposes a vulnerability in the man that owns [him] and therein exposes [his] own vulnerability. And so this attraction to the hardened exterior therein makes [him] reflective of that softness, and in that way makes [him] a part of him. In this sense they become a sort of 4-dimensional ouroboros, two headed and somehow always inside of the other just as much as they are eating each other, and yet one and the same. Billy owns Stu in the way a man owns a dog, in the way a parasite owns a host. Stu owns Billy in the way a heart owns its body, in the way the sky owns the sun and moon. They belong to each other just as much as they own each other, reflected in Stu's devotion to being collared and Billy's devotion to mark what's his.
or maybe, it's just a movie, and I wrote an essay for nothing ❤️ who knows. I just like to think about things sometimes
