Start of the second week of work at Musicol Recording studios. I got my morning started off by working on the LP Vinyl Press. It had a couple of bad pipe-vales on it. This included a vale that separated how the water and the steam run through the machine. However, it all got fixed after some hard work. Altogether it was quite a unique experience.

It sounds fucking amazing on wax and it brings back SO MANY MEMORIES of a different time/place/headspace that I was in, on my journey of accepting myself and my sexuality. Today it’s raining, starting tomorrow temps are going nowhere but up (mid nineties). So, knowing what’s coming, and today’s lousy weather, what better music to pull out of the shelves than the Blues. And the LP of choice today is the @purepleasurerecords reissue of Buddy Guy and Junior Wells album “Going Back To Acoustic.” Just the two of them, Buddy on acoustic guitar and Junior on harmonica, with both sharing vocal duties. With such a sparse instrumental collection the recording is everything. A poor recording/mastering robs the music of it immediacy and feel. But done correctly, as here, you can almost feel Buddy and Junior in the room with you. These two had played together many times, and even recorded together before. But I doubt they ever played together in such a setting (except maybe late at night after a show for fun). This is an album@to savor, both for it musical worth as well as its excellent sonics.
