I've been carrying this magazine to tai chi every Saturday since it came out. Today I finally swallowed my embarrassment and asked for an autograph.
I met Flo at the beginning of my tai chi journey in November 2021 - at the time we trained together with the same grand master - and I've never wanted to come across as a fan girl. But fucking hell I couldn't believe it when she strolled into class that first time. In January of this year, I switched to the Saturday class and she's concentrating on kung fu, but we end up in the changing room at the same time.
She's so cool and friendly and always wants to know how I'm doing and what's going on with me (her daughter is just as cool and trains in kung fu), so today I threw caution to the wind and asked for the autograph. She laughed and said, "of course!" and laughed even harder when she saw the magazine realized how long I've been carrying it around and working up the courage to ask her for an autograph.
So now my backpack will be lighter on Saturdays (I had no idea Vogues were so heavy). She suggested that I give kung fu a try, which I found hilarious (y'all know how I feel about Bruce Lee), but who knows... 😂
