I hate that I’m here… again. I’m so sorry that I’m here again. But once again I’ve been trapped in a difficult situation that I’ve tried literally every way to avoid, prepare for, and roll-up-my-sleeves and do it myself. But at every turn we’ve been ignored, let down by professionals, etc. until I’ve been forced to go into debt just to heat my home because others can’t seem to take any responsibility for things that they’re responsible for. This is genuinely my last ditch effort to find even a little help. I can not go through this again. I’m exhausted, sick, and trying my best to scrape together some commission work while dealing with a really bad flare up of my autoimmune disease. (Hooray) I’m coming up short no matter what I do, and I’m desperate.

Question! If I check out a book, but don't read it or don't finish it, does that still benefit yall and/or the authors? I have a bad memory + demand avoidance, so reading consistently is tricky for me
Hi! So while we have statistics for how many books are checked out, we’re not (nor can we) track whether or not anyone finishes a book. For our purposes, a check-out is a check-out and shows that people are interested in/want to read those books. We’ve already purchased the copy, so the author will have received some cut according to whatever deal they have with their publisher. No harm, no foul, on either front there!
If it’s a really popular book and you end up not finishing or reading it, the mostly that would just mean others would have to wait a little longer for a hold - but that happens all the time with physical books in other kinds of libraries too.

Japan shaves just about everything. He doesn't think more hair=more manly. He infact has a whole different idea of what is manly compared to western countries or most countries in general. He also likes flowers and floral patterns.
everything?!

i can see what vaspider is saying, losing the queer culture we have would be a huge tragedy and its really upsetting to think about. but also like that one anon said there is no universal queer culture even in the US. and the queer culture is constantly changing. i mean a lot of younger queers end up creating their own culture anyway bc of how fast things change now due to technology. what we have now is different to what we had in the 80s for example. idk like yes its horrible to think abt the queer history and culture and community that could be lost, but new queer people will be born and the community will regrow. but like if jewish people are all gone, there is no return for that. its like... a forest being burnt down vs an animal going extinct? both are huge tragedies but the forest can regrow (even if its different) but the animal will never come back. we arent trying to be dismissive or flippant by pointing out the differences, just trying to remind people that it can be harmful to say its exactly the same.
i think this website has a very bad case of black and white thinking, where we think if two groups are marginalized but not in the exact same way, then one of them must objectively have it better and one must objectively have it worse. so if we say "hey this experience is not 1:1 the same as this other experience" we must be saying that the first experience doesn't matter or isn't as bad. saying "what's happening to trans people right now isn't 1:1 the same as what happened to jewish people” isn’t saying one group has it worse. it’s just acknowledging that it’s not the same.

(draft from my main, disclaimer for anyone who sees this: this blog is primarily a porn blog and stupid debating will be ignored or laughed at, you can try it but i dont care)
ive seen a lot of people incorrectly thinking that the trans people wanting to be acknowledged in reproductive rights discussions are all trans women, and as a result a lot of backlash to more gender neutral language in those discussions is like “you’ll never be a woman” “you’ll never be pregnant, so this doesn’t concern you” “‘males’ will never know the weight of this sort of decision, we don’t have to include you in this” and/or claiming that trans women throw tantrums and whine about dysphoria when it comes to about female-exclusive language and discussions about pregnant people
(they do not btw. i have never seen or heard a trans women interrupt a cis women and say that someone talking about periods or reproduction or anything to say they’re making her dysphoric, that discussing periods is transphobic, etc. and even if this hypothetical trans woman exists…… trans people are not a monolith. a few trans people saying stuff like that does not mean all trans people believe it.)
in reality, the people pushing for more neutral language… are trans men and nonbinary people who can get pregnant. “pregnant people” or “people with uteruses” or “people who menstruate” are not terms that exclude cis women, nor are trans people claiming that this language is being used to include trans women who can’t get pregnant (which is all of them, in the current world)
gender-neutral language with respect to reproductive rights (like abortion) is not misogynistic or erasing women or anything like that. frankly, i think it’s really fucking telling that people think that defining womanhood and being female by reproductive capability is cool and woke and feminist. “if you can have children, you’re always going to be female” is an outdated belief that doesn’t serve anyone but cis women and instead harms anyone who’s not a woman but can get pregnant.
“pregnant people” does not erase women, it just includes non-women who can also get pregnant. that’s all. it’s acknowledging a fact. it’s not some long-con game to remove cis women from existence, it’s literally just acknowledging that not all people who can get pregnant are women

have a depressing oddly interpreted take on the taint affecting alistair and rowena 😘
The taint came for his hands first.
A side effect of days spent clutching a sword and shield no doubt. His veins went fast, running black and blue overnight. He didn't like looking at them, but Rowena traced them over every night. Hardened bones were next. Protruding metacarpals and thinned knuckles and a noticeable creak in the mornings. Then the pain began. The ache. Days where his joints stiffened to stone, where a grasp clenched too tight refused to come undone, where splaying fingers to their fullest extent proved too much.
Rowena often caught him staring at his hands in the corner of her eye. Busy hands, curious hands, hands made to fidget and gesture and move above all else, now immobile. His worry token went untouched for months, as did many of the things he loved to hold. Flowers in the garden. The mabari's paws. Rowena.
There was a time when Alistair couldn't keep his hands off of her. Affection of the physical kind was a bright and shiny concept and it took time for him to adjust. Rowena could touch him anywhere, after all. It came easy to her, the affection, the initiation. His cheek, his chin, his collarbone--anywhere would do. Eventually, he came to reciprocate. Tentatively at first, as if asking for permission, but confidence came with the security of her affection. Touch became a comfort. A hand around her waist, on her jaw, in her hair. Anywhere would do.
It couldn't have been more different now. He shied away when she reached for his arm to hold, twitched when she kissed his neck in the mornings. Evening baths became sparser until they no longer existed at all, and this Rowena could hardly bear--facing this truth that the old rituals had died, so she clung to the last of them.
No amount of massage relieved the pain, but Rowena would be damned if she didn't try. Nightly, he let her take his hands in her own.
It was a relief each time to see that despite the Taint, Alistair's hands were still his own, broad and square-fingered and devastatingly gentle. Calloused on the underside and scarred by his earliest days with a blade, too young and eager to know any better. And those nights by the firelight, nights where she took his palm in her hands and massaged the ache away, she could see that Alistair's hands were still freckled, just barely. The sun could still shine on him and leave honeyed kisses against his skin and this was one thing the taint could never take. No darkspawn could take the sun.
The night she realized this, she wept silently. She'd stopped him before he could speak, pressed his freckled hand to her cheek before he could pull away, and whispered, "Bathe with me."
Months later, the taint came for her.
For Rowena, it was her vision and it was swift. [reduntant fix this queen lol]

i'm so sorry your teacher left :( how are you doing?
thank you <3
i’m doing okay, i guess? it’s been harder than i expected, i’ve known he was leaving for two months but i’m still really upset. i almost started crying when the new teacher began talking in class today, which has never happened before. it’ll probably take a while but i think i’ll be ok, we’re still gonna see him and we have his number if we need anything.

I just wanted to let you know that you are one of the only writers I’ve seen do a time travel fic in an intensely narratively satisfying way. I know you don’t really plan on updating it anymore (which is so valid!! I’m just so glad I got to read *anything* from you, you’re so talented!!!). There are virtually no plotholes, you chose the perfect character to voice the narrative (he wouldn’t give away too much, so it leaves the reader in suspense), and you write the most beautiful character relationships!! Your attention to detail and understanding of the effects of trauma supplement the narrative so well!!! Both the subtle and large-scale effects were interwoven so well. And the suspense!!!! Oh my gosh!! The double dramatic irony of us the readers knowing things Aizawa doesn’t and Aizawa knowing things the rest of the characters don’t constantly kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s one of the only fics I can reread and find new details in every time. Every single character is written with so much love and care, it’s so beautiful and impressive!!!!! It’s such a kind story, overall :,)
There are so many more things I could say, but I think I’ve left enough comments on the fic itself and would probably go waaaaay over the word limit for a tumblr ask.
I hope you continue to find and work on projects you enjoy doing, even if tmgr isn’t one of them <3 <3 <3
You’re just a truly excellent writer and I wish you nothing but the best!! Reading your works is genuinely a privilege ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
;___; maybe I’ll just cry forever because of this ask tbh this was incredibly sweet and kind and I don’t have any clue what to say in response that will express how reading this made me feel
Time travel fics (tbh time travel fixits in general, there’s a bunch of kcomics that have the same trope and I live for them too) are so near and dear to my heart, and they’re my go-to “things are hard, I need something that makes me feel like mistakes don’t have to be forever,” comfort reads, and it really means so much to me that you enjoyed my take on one so much. And also that you picked up on a lot of my deliberate choices! The double dramatic irony, picking Aizawa (who admittedly is my fave bnha character so I was probs always gonna pick him BUT he also made a great unreliable-but-predictable narrator), and the trauma affecting things subtly and obviously… Sometimes I wonder how much of what I write gets across to readers, because I’m v much a “every choice I made, every word I picked, they all had a reason even if I don’t explicitly say what that reason is,” kinda writer, and it’s both amazing and humbling to have those details picked up on by a reader tbh 💕
Thank you very very very much for sending this message and brightening my day, it was so nice to read and means a lot 💕 I hope to get back into writing something (anything!!! I miss writing) soon-ish now that the holidays are over and 2024 is in full swing, and hopefully I’ll get something out there that’ll be in a fandom you enjoy 💕 thank you again!

attempting to find romance and genuine human connection as a woman in her 20’s in this era of dating is really hard and sometimes i feel like giving up and saying that “romantic love is a lie, patriarchy has made it so that half of my dating pool sees me as an object to be used and not a fully realized person so what’s the fucking point” yadda yadda blah blah blah BUT seeing my team of dude coworkers be doting husbands and fathers (and doing so consistently) is like the one thing that keeps me sane while i’m fighting for my life in the situationship trenches

honestly i don’t really think any mental illnesses have been like “destigmatized”- not fully at least. i think the stigma has just changed from demonization to “that’s not a real problem get over it god”
