hmm for the 3 sentence fic prompts, how about "unfamiliar"?
The Hero of Legends house was full to the brim with magical items and artifacts, stuffed with tools and weapons, it was almost an eyesore to the champion, he was used to having things neatly organized in his slate.
But of all the things Legend had in his humble home, which were often multiple versions of the same thing, such as rods and shovels, (seriously when would he ever need that many shovels?) there was one thing that caught wilds eye.
A beautiful dark blue mirror, decorated with white shiny pearls but as he picked it up to get a better look at it, the reflection seemed to change into an unfamiliar figure that wasn’t the champion himself.
“That’s no ordinary mirror…”

[Taps microphone] I think it’s great that Aqua29, a hermit duo team, is the first team to win MCC with none of its players in the top 10 (granted they got second in coins). Because once upon a time, the hermits were seen as nerfs and easy kills. Now it’s literally viewed as the opposite— they had no one to carry them, because they all carried their own weight. The team itself was balanced. There is no argument possibly made about carrying when they all contributed, and when their best game was Grid Runners.
12th—2413 coins (Dave), 13th—2388 coins (H), 20th—1819 coins (Cub), 21st—1805 coins (False). That is quite a small difference. And while False might have gotten the least amount of coins in the team (just 14 coins behind Cub!), we can all agree she nailed it in Dodgebolt.
Aqua29 destroyed the concept that the hermits were nerfs. Sure, that idea was already destroyed after MCC9 Blue Bats, but now it’s completely demolished. Aqua29 actually made history in the grand scheme of things. Aqua29 perfectly continues the hermit narrative that has been rolling out since MCC4 (sorry MCC1 Jevin lmao).
The hermits went from a small group joining every time, just happy to be there even if they repeatedly get 8th/9th, to a glorious underdog arc in which they were led by two mentors (False and Ren, Blue9), which was accompanied by standout historical moments (Dreamslayer, False Supremacy). This gave rise to hermits getting more competitive teams (Orange10, Cub’s first win), and once they realised it was possible, they began to sincerely, fiercely try to win MCC (Grian’s journey from MCC11 to 17). And when newcomer hermits arrived, they were greatly hyped and anticipated, they worked hard, played hard, and got themselves on the stage (Gem, Scar, Impulse, Bdubs), Now, it all ties up, with False and Cub being in an extremely balanced team, their skills having vastly improved since MCC9/10.
I once thought how lucky I was that my fave hermits are part of one of MCC’s most iconic stories/teams. Then I understood they helped make it so iconic. Same thing with Aqua29. False and Cub helped proved a point. They did it first in MCC history <3

Rest, with Four? (also good luck on the car trip! /gen)
“Are y’all coming?” Twilight asked. He had one hand on the doorframe and one in the doorknob, leaning in and hanging from the doorframe.
Sky and Four were sitting on the floor of the inn, mixing honey, oatmeal, and cucumber together in the mortar and pestle. They were in their most comfortable robes and Four’s hair was loosely braided away from his face. Their hands froze above their preparations and they gave Twilight identical expressions of smirks and raised eyebrows.
Twilight chuckled. “I’ll take that as a no, then.”
“We’re having a spa day,” Sky said cheerfully. He held up the bowl or green and brown mush.
“Cucumber facials!” Sky said.
“… Cucumber? And you put it on your face?” Twilight asked.
“It’s good for acne and aging prevention,” Four said.
“And it helps take down swelling, which I appreciate,” Sky said, gesturing to his permanently puffy eyes with a chuckle.
“Ah,” Twilight said. “Well, enjoy your rest. Don’t wait up!”
“Have fun!” Sky said.
“Stay safe,” Four added.

Smile
“Seems like we found the fruit!” Minish said with a smile.
“Now all you gotta do is find a way to reach it, short stack,” Four teased. Minish’s smile vanished and he glared at Four.

Horsies in the Plex if Roxy is a horse lover before she knows they've ever existed here is really good honestly. She's off exploring, finding random horse themed things and immediately drops what she's doing to run over to Vanessa with it like "LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!" cause Vanessa also likes horsies and is the reason Roxy likes them so much in the first place.
Like it starts with a prop horseshoe or something. Then she's finding plushies and building a little collection of them, making sure to give Vanessa one every time she finds a new one. Then she finds a random ass saddle or a bunch of prop hay bales or something. A bridle. Some bit pieces. A harness for a wagon. The wagon itself. Horse action figures. Whatever else. She's been excited about every single thing she's found so far and wonders how much more there is to find...
Opens a new storage room door and she finds actual fucking horses. Deactivated, dusty as hell, animatronic horsies.
Fucking grabs Vanessa and takes off running into areas Vanessa is absolutely not allowed to be in at all to show her all the horsies sndjjd like "VANESSAA!!! THERE'S HORSES!!!! NESSA HORSES ARE REAL!!! THEY REALLY EXIST NESSA LOOOOK!!!!"

a word in your inbox: pine (could mean several things!)
"I'll listen," I say, and the words taste bitter, like honey gone wrong.
You spoke them last, remember? Under pine trees and spruces, in the dancing darkness of a golden moon, where your eyes beckoned like the embers of home, and I — I — at the end of everything, with fire and rage and gnawing hurt (so much, so much, too much) — too late, I owe you this: "I'll listen."

just need a steady hand to hold
written for @zukkaweek day three: bedsharing <3
Sokka opened his eyes, intending to lovingly look at his boyfriend’s beautiful face, and froze.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a large, brown stain on the sheets of his bed, just below Zuko’s back. It was almost circular in shape, as if someone had put a circle in a jar and shook it a little bit. The edges were a darker brown then the rest of it, and it stretched from the edge of his bed to somewhere under Zuko.
Suddenly, their perfect, quiet night was ruined as his vision began to blur and his breath started to get heavier.
Bile rose in his throat—he was going to throw up.
“Zuko,” he squeaked, trying his best to keep the anxiety pulsing at his throat down, “I—we need to get off the bed. Like, right now.”
[or: sokka sees an old stain on the sheets and has a panic attack because sensory thing and is worried zuko thinks he's stupid]

Looking at your favourite extremely specific trope and knowing it doesn't come from just general enjoyment and instead comes from a combination of all of the following; your neurodivergence, your experience in school growing up, your trauma, your parents trauma, the state your parents lives were in when you were a baby, the small number of friends you had growing up, the amount of support you were actually given growing up, where you rank in the sibling birth order, how many siblings you had to help raise-

babe wake up new oc lore just dropped (aka long ramble about hira under the cut)
the thing about hira is. she grew up in an orphanage in the western earth kingdom. she was left there as a baby with nothing but her name. she doesn’t know who her parents were, where she’s from, and when her efforts to figure this out prove fruitless, it hurts. she longs for family, for knowledge and identity and culture, only spurred on by the feeling of alienation from (and perhaps jealousy towards) her peers.
(and maybe she conflates those different types of longing, maybe she thinks if she discovers what nation her parents were from she’ll find a new family there.)
so when she finds out she can airbend, she’s overjoyed. she throws herself into learning everything she can about the bending and the culture. she makes plans to go to the temples when she gets off the ship. when she gets there, she’ll finally have a family. she’ll finally be at home.
and that is one of the reasons she struggles so much when she realises she actually likes it on the ship. she likes being with these people, these pirates who have actually begun to feel like some sort family to her. the ship feels like home. and that’s why, eventually, she stays.
(and also, she’s scared. she’s scared they won’t accept her at the temples, that she isn’t air nomad enough. that she doesn’t know enough. she’ll go, just later. not yet.)
she stays, and keeps learning. she learns to meditate, to write air nomad script and speak air nomad languages, to cook air nomad recipes, all under the tutelage of sita (though for the last one, chusak helps too). she’s almost a bending prodigy.
and then she discovers she’s the avatar. and she refuses to believe it.
because being the avatar would mean being not really an air nomad. it would mean a duty to the world, and with that, an inability to fully comply with air nomad philosophy. the avatar can’t stay detached from worldly matters or choose not to harm.
so she denies it.
eventually, with the help of her friends (her family) she learns to separate the concepts of family and culture and identity and bending. she learns her worth doesn’t depend on those things, that she can be multiple things at once, that she doesn’t have to choose. she can do her duty as the avatar and still be an air nomad.
can bend any of the elements and speak both the languages of the eastern air temple and a small village in the west of the earth kingdom and prefer her tea the way it’s served in tea houses decked out in green but prefer her bread the way it’s eaten by nuns and have it be okay. she doesn’t have to choose or change or be perfect to be loved. her family is a motley pirate crew made up of people who find their origins in all four corners of the globe, and they celebrate all their wonderful differences.
so indeed, I think more than anything, wind in the sails is a story about identity & culture & personal growth.

Six Sentence Sunday
Thank you @axl-ul for the tag!
I'm just leaving my open tag for this one! 🙃
I had to work on my final script for one of my classes, so now you get to experience this horrible piece that legitimately made me cry with me. You're welcome.
"Where's Sam?"
"I'm so sorry, Janey. Sam, he's... he was in an accident and he... Sammy's not with us anymore."
The phone slips from Janey's hand and onto the desk, tears welling up in her eyes.
There's a low garbled voice and Janey reaches out with a shaking finger to hit the speaker button. "Janey, honey, are you still there?"
"I was supposed to see him today."
