blue rain is at the airport and their flight is super delayed and it's been a long day and everyone is tired. when zheng xuan comes back from buying snacks with his teammates, it's to the sight of yu wenzhou sitting in the uncomfortable airport terminal seat, being used as a pillow by both lu hanwen and huang shaotian. yu wenzhou doesn't notice the team’s return, busy as he is flipping through his notebook. of course they have to take a pictue!
which is how the photo of captain yu wenzhou with a napping blade master on each shoulder goes viral

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: 光渊 | Justice in the Dark (TV 2023) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Tao Ze & Luo Weizhao, Luo Weizhao & Pei Su, Pei Su & Tao Ze, Tao Ze/Luo Weizhao (one sided), Tao Ze/Pei Su (one sided) Characters: Pei Su (Justice in the Dark TV 2023), Luo Weizhao, Tao Ze (Justice in the Dark TV 2023) Additional Tags: Found Family, Love Triangle, Frenemies, Pre-show, Pre-Slash, Pre-Story, Slice of Life Summary:
Pei Su's in university and Luo Weizhao is beyond irritated at where his flirty gaze is targeted. Meanwhile, Tao Ze is holding down the base of this triangle emotionally. Or: A slice of life of this found family trio a bit before the start of the show/novel story.
And I’ve written another Justice in the Dark fanfic (/-3-)/ I just really think their little pre-story silly ‘love triangle’ situation is fun to see.

Fragments of a broken past haunts, hurts and suffocates. Will dawn come?
I want to write a series of fics based on the concept 'Nightmares' and this is the first one. This is also the first fanfic I started writing, but abandoned midway since it became too much for me to explore at that time for that event, so I wrote By The Riverside instead. Then this became the second fanfic I finished.
I haven't been able to write a part 2 for the 'Nightmares' series yet though, even after 2 years. Hoping to give myself a push by finally posting this on AO3.

Me trying to figure out where Marinette’s maternal family comes from and what it would imply for her in terms of specific ethnicity and cultural practices and being stuck between Wenzhou (twitter canon), Shanghai (tv canon), and Hunan (presumably, based on the mountains seen in the deleted movie scene which I think are the Tianzi mountains)
Tumblr media
EDIT: this about figuring out what her family is in my head, not what counts as official canon for broader fandom

China's censorship of Justice in the Dark - some FAQ
Tumblr media
photo cr @ 白夜飛行家 on weibo
Also known as The Abyss/Mo Du/Silent Reading (link goes to a great carrd made by a Mo Du fan) by Priest, the same author who brought us Guardian. The show was dropped on Youku China on the 18th of February and is now on Youku International (VIP needed from ep 3 onwards). 8 episodes have been released. There is no official release schedule yet, though the rumour is 5 episodes every Saturday at 10am China time. Total of 30 episodes, ending on the 11th of March (Yes rumours are this specific).
The English subs are AI generated, and they are not great. I hope they improve the subs as the show gains traction. (I watch on the China ver of the app, but I'll post any egregarious subbing errors if I come across them)
Changes made from the novel
The title, character names and premise has been changed. The ages of the some of the side characters/victims have also been changed. It's clear that scenes have been re-edited and re-dubbed, because some dialogue doesn't match the lip movements (WOH flashbacks anyone?) This is all to get pass censorship. A lot of the story, including the dialogue, has been preserved, and the changes aren't jarring.
Seems like there was a lot of uproar regarding the changes?
The show has been trending on weibo every day since it dropped, for good and bad reasons. Many book fans were upset with the changes on Day 1 and didn't bother watching pass the introduction of the premise, and there were complaints about the suitability of the actors' looks. By Day 2 the comments turned to "hey this isn't so bad??" And now everyone is just badgering youku for the next few episodes, cause they've literally released nothing else about the show since they dropped the episodes.
Has the story been sacrificed to pass censorship?
After watching 8 ep, I don't believe so. The novel covers sociopathy and the darkness of humanity - the show uses a "nuclear accident" as a reason for "genetic changes" in 1.3% of the population - causing these people to lose the ability to empathise with others. This is actually a very smart move because by blaming everything on a fictional, genetic mutation, the show can actually get away with showing the darker, more questionable parts of humanity, without having to censor it too much. The first case of the show mentions drugs and even has a short clip that heavily implies someone seizing from an overdose (you'll miss it if you aren't paying attention). There are underaged victims, and if they continue in this vein there will be more trigger warning worthy scenes from the book included. These things just don't get shown or talked about in c dramas - even if we don't talk about the BL, it's pretty crazy they managed to get this stuff out after the recent censorship changes.
Is the BL still.... there?
There are 8 episodes out so far and to me, it's working. We're not talking WOH level of chemistry here, but ep 3 onwards is when our CP starts paying more attention to each other. There is more than enough "candy" to find if you know what you're looking for. That said, it is not and will never be BL, just an adaptation.
Ok what am I looking for?
Glad you asked! Take for example the show's name change - from 深渊 (shen yuan) to 光•渊 (guang • yuan).
深 - deep 渊 - deep (often referring to a pool, so a deep dark pool, like in a cave) Shen Yuan comes from the novel and is translated as The Abyss, and represents Fei Du (Pei Su in the show)
光 - bright light Guang•Yuan is not a proper term by itself - it's a mash up of the words for bright light and deep pool. The light represents Luo Wenzhou (Luo Weizhao in the show), the one beam of light that penetrates Fei Du's darkness. Hence the English name "Justice in the Dark" is a pretty good translation.
The new names of the characters are Pei Su 裴溯 and Luo Weizhao 骆为昭. See the last character of each name? Su has the radical 月, for Moon in it, and Zhao has the radical 日, for Sun in it. The moon is considered Yin, and the sun is Yang. Together, they are Yin and Yang.
Hey maybe you think that's pushing it, but welcome to the life of a BL adaptation fan 🤣🤣

There was no one at the ferry in the wilderness; save for a small boat that lies on the water leisurely. "野渡无人舟自横" - The meaning of Fei Du 费渡 and Luo Wenzhou 骆闻舟's Name. (Wei Yingwu 韦应物- Chuzhou’s Xijian 滁州西涧)
I’ve never analysed a priest related meta so here’s a first for me I guess.
It’s a known fact that Fei Du and Luo Wenzhou’s names were censored when the Modu adaptation was released.  The names just stuck out to me so I did some research and WOW, their names were from the same line in a poem (OBVIOUSLY).
And it's a very famous poem too, which is probably why their names were changed because everyone knows what Priest was trying to imply.
Tumblr media
So anyway here it goes ~
Their names arise from from Chuzhou’s Xijian 滁州西涧 written by the Tang Dynasty Poet Wei Yingwu 韦应物 (lmao this dude's courtesy name was Yibo XD) .  Chuzhou’s a city located in the Anhui Province. 西涧 Xijian refers to a river located west of Chunzhou. When the poet was the governor of Chunzhou, he frequently visited Xijian and thus, it inspired him to write this poem.  Wei Yingwu has a reputation for writing poetry based on scenery so here's one of them!
独怜幽草涧边生,上有黄鹂深树鸣。
The only thing I like is the lonely grass that grows by the stream that runs through the valley, and the orioles that cry out in the deep undergrowth.
T/N: 独怜 is a very interesting word. 😍. It can be broken down to 独 (unique, alone) and 怜 (pity, love).  So in this case, most people would interpret this as something was so unique and the poet loved it, or it could also mean something that was  lonely and pitiful 🥲
春潮带雨晚来急,野渡(DU)无人舟(ZHOU)自横。
In the evening, when the spring tide rises and the rain drizzles, the water in the Xijian river becomes increasingly turbulent.  There was no one at the ferry in the wilderness; save for a small boat that lies on the water leisurely.
"野渡无人舟自横" is a very famous line (Tang 300!) and it has inspired many to draw based on this line alone.
Tumblr media
Drawn by Zhang Pin in 1963.
Tumblr media
And another painting by Pan Tianshou in 1964
To fully understand this poem, we have to start from the poet’s background. Wei Yingwu came from a rich family, and when he was 15 years old, he was the aide of Emperor Xuanzhong.  In the early days, he was unruly and the villagers under him suffered.  During the An Lushan Rebellion, Xuanzhong fled and Wei Yingwu lost his job. Wei Yingwu then put his mind to studying and eventually, he became an official.  It was said that his past turbulent experiences in his life (the An Lushan Rebellion in particular) inspired his poem.
As a bonus point, you’re absolutely right  if you’ve read modu and found the vibe of this poem to be very familiar.  Because Priest has used similar imagery throughout the novel.  For example, in Chapter 95:
He was like a traveler walking through the desert, his body utterly broken. And Luo Wenzhou and this tiny house was like a bottle half filled with water that fell from the sky.  Even if it contained arsenic, or if the cold broke apart his fingers one by one ... he could not give it up. - Translation by yours truly.

Fic Master List: Tian Ya Ke
I did a master list for my TWEWY fics, so now it's time to cover my other fandom: Tian Ya Ke. I appeared from the void with a fic in March 2022 and have written five more fics, one of them 65,000 words long, since then.
Strange how certain the journey (9,850 words) Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu Characters: Wen Kexing, Zhou Zishu, Jing Beiyuan, Wu Xi (Qi Ye), Zhang Chengling Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Established Relationship, Canon-Typical Use of Husband and Wife (Faraway Wanderers), Jealousy, Switching, Stories within Stories, Spoilers for TYK and QY, Non-Graphic Violence, Slight Canon Divergence Summary: When Wen Kexing watches Zhou Zishu and Jing Beiyuan together, he can see Lord Zhou. He never asked Zhou Zishu about his past before, but now they have time and maybe . . . maybe he wants to know. His feelings about Lord Seventh have nothing to do with it. - Storytelling as an act of love.
Notes: The fic that served as my introduction to the fandom. I had never even spoken to a single TYK fan and just showed up one day with 10k words of WenZhou in hand. TYK, QY, slight (mostly implied) canon divergence re: the WenZhou relationship timeline, and the beginning of it all.
We all write our own endings (3,710 words) Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu Characters: Zhou Zishu, Wen Kexing Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, First Time, Developing Relationship, Mid-Canon, Canon-Typical Use of Husband and Wife (Faraway Wanderers), Spoilers for TYK and QY Summary: If I die, would it not be a loss for you?   In Zhou Zishu's experience, sex can be a currency, or a weapon. In this moment, with Wen Kexing, it's neither. - A point of divergence.
Notes: The canon divergence prequel to my first TYK fic, jumping off from the end of chapter 63. This is where I was officially writing a series, but all of the stories are pretty loosely linked and could be read standalone. It's also where I decided that every fic in the series would have a title from a Vienna Teng song, for no reason in particular.
For we are a woven thread (9,135 words) Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu Characters: Wen Kexing, Zhou Zishu, Zhang Chengling Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Established Relationship, Canon-Typical Use of Husband and Wife (Faraway Wanderers), Families of Choice, Murder Mystery, Small Town Horrors Summary: It should be just another night in a small jianghu town. And it would be, if not for the murders. Even backwater towns on the edge of nowhere have secrets. - A ghost story, of sorts.
Notes: This story is an interesting one for me because it has some dialogue exchanges I am particularly proud of, but gets the least attention of any of my TYK fics. That happens sometimes and I don't mind. But if you do read and enjoy it, I'm glad!
Uncover the weight of your bones (6,651 words) Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu Characters: Wen Kexing, Zhou Zishu, Jing Beiyuan, Wu Xi (Qi Ye), Zhang Chengling Additional Tags: Established Relationship, Missing Scene, Slight Canon Divergence, Spoilers for TYK and QY, Post-Siege of Ghost Valley, Canon-Typical Use of Husband and Wife (Faraway Wanderers), Nails of Seven Torments (Faraway Wanderers), Hurt/Comfort Summary: On Mount Changming, Wen Kexing cares for Zhou Zishu—and fears for him—as they prepare for the removal of the nails. A human experience and therefore one that Wen Kexing, so recently a ghost, finds himself laughably unprepared for. - Love in the spaces between.
Notes: This fic is me filling in some of the scenes we don't get at the end of the novel. This one is the most closely linked to the canon divergence, because it happens before the extras, so should ideally be read within the continuity of the series. But I respect a rebel, if you don't feel like doing that.
Of a tender history (2,503 words) Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu Characters: Wen Kexing, Zhou Zishu, Zhang Chengling Additional Tags: Established Relationship, Post-Canon, Top Wen Kexing/Bottom Zhou Zishu, Canon-Typical Use of Husband and Wife (Faraway Wanderers), Married Sex Summary: To live is a peculiar thing. Or: Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu, in moments.
Notes: This is my gift fic for MT, from the Immortal Wanderers exchange, and not related to the other stories. Post-canon WenZhou with non-linear storytelling, which is something I really enjoy writing. Nothing heavy in this one—it's mostly WenZhou being happy together.
From Halfway Along (65,334 words) Chapters: 21/21 Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishu Characters: Wen Kexing, Zhou Zishu, Gu Xiang (Faraway Wanderers), Zhang Chengling, Jing Beiyuan, Wu Xi (Qi Ye), Cao Weining Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Science Fiction, Space Opera, Developing Relationship, Art Crime, Human Experimentation (mostly voluntary), corporate warfare, Canon-Typical Talk of Death and Dying, Canon-Typical Use of Husband and Wife (Faraway Wanderers), Extensive World Building, Families of Choice, Telepathy Summary: After dedicating years to the service of an empire, Zhou Zishu has walked away to spend what's left of his life wandering the galaxy. And if that freedom has come at a cost . . . doesn't everything? His plans did not include getting entangled with a dangerous man on a mission of his own. A man who not only looks at him, but sees.
Notes: I left this for the end of the list—the WenZhou space opera AU novel no one asked for but I was delighted to deliver. If I am known for anything in the TYK fandom, it's this fic. It is very much a Hadassah Story, with a lot of hallmarks of my style and sensibilities. I also structured it like a TV show, with cold opens in every chapter but (by design) one. I used to work in entertainment and From Halfway Along probably shows it more than any of my other fics.

Hils Watches The King's Avatar - Ep 7
Tumblr media
Holy shit I was so invested in the flashback elimination game between Yu Wenzhou and Ye Xiu that I forgot to take any screenshot. So intense!
Also, this is my 100th screenshot from this drama and I'm only on episode 7 😬
Tumblr media
God, look at him in his skinny jeans and Doc Martens. I love that sometimes he looks like he's just rolled out of bed and other times he looks like an idol
Tumblr media
Me when I'm writing a fic
Tumblr media
Kinky
Tumblr media
I do like that he seems to be genuinely friends with people on all these different teams. I suppose it's a bit like any other sport where players all go to the same training camps and then end up on different teams.
Tumblr media
He just threw his inhaler in the bin. Is this show implying that making his peace with Ye Xiu somehow cured his asthma? I'm not sure that's how it works
Tumblr media
I get that Chen Guo is feeling neglected but trying to arrange a date while her girlfriend is in the middle of a game isn't the best timing. I'd be annoyed too.
Tumblr media
Oh no he was Too Good at distracting her girlfriend
Tumblr media
Gosh there are so many sad people in this
Tumblr media
He just built a who;e PC in less than 5 minutes. Like he had to install the components and everything. This is where my technical knowledge suspends my disbelief.
Tumblr media
Aww is Ye Xiu going to adopt the Tiny Herb player that was about to get sent back to training camp?
Tumblr media
Yeah, I ship these two as well. Listen I was in hockey fandom for several years. Team brotherhood = shipping for me.
Tumblr media
Wait, what?
Tumblr media
Oh. Phew.

For the ask game, WenZhou & "Where did you go?"
Oooh, what an intriguing prompt! I could spin this so many ways. (Anon I need you to know... the first thing that popped into my head was... "Where did you come from, Cotton Eye Joe") 301 words, rated M for implied sex.
It was a rare thing for Wen Kexing to feel like this. For his head to be so empty, so brilliantly quiet. He spent too much time thinking, really-- mundane or sinister or lewd or distraught, his head was always too full of thoughts to be anything but present.
It was a rare thing-- was. But it's getting less so with every day he spends with A-Xu.
Even now, he lays here in their bed, panting through the stars racing through his eyes. There’s nothing in his head but bliss. He’s long transcended the pain of raw skin under rough rope, its sharp thorns digging into his skin, the overwhelming pleasure of being wrung dry over and over and over again. He’s become a thing for his zhiji to use, to play with until he’s had his fill, forced to simply lie here and take it, and he’s impossibly grateful for it.
It’s paradise. Something he doesn’t deserve, something he’ll seize wholeheartedly anyway. Greedily, hungrily– He’ll never let it go. Not now, with all his secrets and sins laid bare before the eyes of his zhuangzhu.
Well. Almost all his secrets.
“Lao Wen,” A-Xu’s elegant, perfect hands trace over the bindings gracing Wen Kexing’s wrists. They trail down over his arms, down to his chest, oversensitive and littered with marks in the shape of A-Xu’s teeth. “Niangzi.”
His voice is deceptively mild. Any other time, Wen Kexing’s mind would be tripping alarms. As it is, he simply hums a soft, “Yes, A-Xu?”, raspy and placid and soft.
“You went somewhere without me today. With Xie-wang, of all people,” his fingers dig into the pale, unmarked skin just under Wen Kexing’s pectorals. He hisses, his back arches, and his heartbeat picks up again– too much, too sensitive, too– “Where did you go?”

so yeah, I took a couple of days to digest the fact that we don’t have new eps and we might not have who knows? but I decided to keep posting after re-reading some of my favorite moments from the novel. This one included:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, I know that by this point in the story, his feelings towards FeiDu are the same they’ve always been since he was a kid (slightly different) but also, who takes flowers to a grave of someone who’s not even your relative just because of their son?? Romantic interpretations aside (that by this point are basically non-existent) this shows how deeply Wenzhou cares for FeiDu. Ugh, the feels!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have you all seen that edit of this scene but with the Goblin OST playing in the background?? hahahaha this such a cliché drama moment but not only that, a romantic cliché moment. They knew what they were doing with this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
low-key upset this moment implies Wenzhou is the bottom when we all know he isn’t lol FeiDu is just bolder and a whore. Fei Du, baby, I love you but it’s true.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A thousand questions running through his mind. And ZXC portrays a puzzled Fei Du so well!! Also, a little detail that I adore from the novel in this moment is that FeiDu had thought of people who were leaving the flowers every year but not even once did he consider Luo Wenzhou. This is interesting because it says a lot of what kind of person FD thinks LWZ is. A jerk, basically.
So this thing, just completely shakes him to his core, leaving him speechless. Because it shatters everything he thought he knew about Luo Wenzhou and his relationship with him and what the hell? This dude that has been pestering him and telling him what to do for years, that even looks as if he doesn’t like him and thought him a psychopath not long ago, leaves flowers at his mother’s grave? Who is this person? And I think this is where the shift of his feelings starts.

New Year Joint Special Project - Armory
This is one set in a collaborative series of six among five fig makers that were designed for the Lunar New Year 2022.
This project launched on February 22, 2022, and if you ordered during the early bird period, you would get a piece of a magnet which formed part of a larger piece of art. If you got all 6 magnets, you could complete the whole art piece.
The collaboration was 4 Wenzhou sets and 2 Junzhe sets. The 4 Wenzhou ones are shown below:
Tumblr media
The sets were teased with these silhouetted pictures. Amazing, aren't they?
This collaboration is actually directly responsible for my fig obsession. Until this project, I didn't know until then that there were this many fig sellers, and that there was an active community making them. I had previously thought they were just a few one-offs that had been made.
Tumblr media
The full name of this fig set is:
陪君醉 三万场 从此不言离殇 I’ll get drunk with you thirty thousand times, and we’ll no longer need sad farewells*
Which is a lyric from Word of Honor's main theme song, Tianyake, sung by Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun. Very apropo.
The two figs are separate from the base, and can be removed and placed however you like.
Tumblr media
The tears in Lao Wen's eyes! The shocked and horrified look on A-Xu's dear little face! I love it and hate it at the same time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I appreciate that A-Xu doesn't have his hairpin in his little bun here, because of course he doesn't.
Tumblr media
The careful spread of their robes behind them definitely echos the scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A little hidden detail is their crossed legs under their robes. They're even sitting a little differently than each other. How cute!
Tumblr media
Here's a separate shot of the base/platform. It even has the symbols from the Combined Six Cultivation Method that swirl around them during the technique on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The box card insert got a little mangled in transit, but it's still very sweet:
Tumblr media
The art picture that makes up the pieces of the magnet is in a cute chibi cartoon style, stylized similarly to the little figs in theme.
That being said, fair warning, the magnet for this set is very, very mildly NSFW. Like 1 chili pepper on a 5 chili pepper scale. It is a shirtless little chibi Wenzhou sweetly embracing and kissing each other in a bed in Siji Manor.
That being said, I'll keep the magnet picture below a line of stars, so those of you that prefer to not have it show up on your phone / computer don't get put in an awkward position.
Material: PVC
Fig Count: 37
Diorama Count: 4
Snowglobe Count: 1
Rating: No matter how boundless the world is, if you’re there, I’ll be there too*
*Tian Ya Ke song translation is from 青Cee, located here: https://youtu.be/UIgnDX5wcno Check it out, it's beautiful.
[link back to Master Fig Index for more posts]
Alright, intrepid figthusiasts! It's time for some smooching chibis:
*******************************************************************
I will note that when this fig set was delivered to the warehouse in China, the intake pictures they took did not show the magnet being included in the package. So I had to ask customer service to go have the warehouse search the package and see if it was included after all. Go figure it would be the ONE mildly spicy magnet in the series! Sorry, warehouse workers, but thank you for finding my magnet!
Tumblr media
The same Combined Six Cultivation Method symbols are swirling around them, I assume implying some dual cultivation going on here. The little details with the juzipi under the bed (they show up in each magnet scene) and the Siji Manor scroll are really cute.

Started reading In The Dark, first chapter Nightmares:
Interesting vibes. Before anything else, I love the descriptions in this. I've been losing my own ability to spit out what the fuck Im trying to describe when writing lately, and the slightly poetic imagery but also to the point present tense of how this is written... it's really helping inspire me. (And of course, seeing quick examples of describing characters and buildings quickly without clumsiness but also still with some emotion is helpful)
Expectedly, the leads appear to be "two hot men" as is the bl usual ToT it is what it is. I'm partial to modu's babes still, but I'll get used to a new novel again lmao (what can I say? No character in a Long While is gonna top the fucking Captain China descriptions, the personality of priests characters screaming out so much that its ultimately the feeling of the character so unique and bizarre that you remember more than actual looks).
I am hoping, somehow, this novel's gonna be written as intelligently (as in intense themes, parallels, symbolism, points to make) as a priest novel. Im spoiled cause all the other chinese bl novels ive finished reading? Fucking excellent. I think my hopes are justified, tbh. If for no other reason than this writer doing some of my favorite shit: they name dropped a japanese murder author Ive read (and mentioned a plot of it im intrigued by), and they've left a TON of potential foreshadowing threads.
Said threads: opening, character dreams of a bloody woman? Could be a Fei Du (ish) situation where he did awful stuff and blacked it out. Could be a darker situation, where he's actually the bad guy/antihero/dangerous and we get a story from THAT point of view in some regard (which is a fascinating potential).
Character meets guy who clearly matches him, was at the theater for him, stalking him? At some prior point, started watching him first? Oh you know me. I like a slow burn. I like a long history (as long as its not childhood friends anything but that), i like rivals, its giving L X Light, Beyond Evil guys energy.
The movie playing: the stranger says he doesnt like roses. And the earlier quote from the murder novel, the Xie Lanshan remebering the quote that "even a demon essentially Id still love you." My prediction: one of them believes even cruel they'll love the other, but the other believes they'd stop loving and fight each other. This of course also implies: one will go darkside/be cruel/lose themselves/already is lost, and either that same one Or the other will not be loving the other when love is whats expected. Sort of the whole "youre a monster, but you wont hurt me" then the monster DOES hurt you. Or "even though youre a monster, ill still be here with you" (which is luo wenzhou 100 percent) but with the monster going "well that was a fucking mistake cause i am killing/betraying you now." If this novel likes foreshadowing, which i like, itll play with this AT LEAST in some case long arc. And ideally itll play out between the leading lovers. Which if so, is a story Id be interested in reading
And yes, i did go into this totally blind except knowing its (probably) a dark detective bl story. So we'll see how the predicting goes lol
For real though, i do really enjoy its writing style and the way its snappy but lingers just enough on painting images emotionally.

Scenes I would like to see in the drama PT.1:
Fei Du picking up Tao Ran’s call after staying the night at LWZ’s.
I loved this scene in the book, and I really want it included in the drama as well. Of course, it’ll be censored for obvious reasons lol, but I just hope it’s *there* and not cut out.
[ Fei Du was caught between laughter and tears when Luo Wenzhou’s phone, which he’d thrown at the bedside, rang.
At first Fei Du paid it no mind, but while the ringtone was about to blow off the roof, Luo Wenzhou was still sleeping like a dead dog, showing absolutely no signs of movement. Fei Du could only gently push aside the arms wrapped around him, awkwardly raising his upper body, and reach past Luo Wenzhou to get the phone. When his fingers had just reached it, Luo Wenzhou, half-asleep, pulled him back down, hugging him tighter.
This person was selectively deaf. Refusing to listen to the cry of “Ah—five rings—,” he rubbed his face against Fei Du’s neck, rolled over, and continued to sleep.
[…]
Fei Du looked at the phone’s screen. “Darling, telephone.”
Luo Wenzhou turned over and lay on him, unconsciously stroking Fei Du’s arms for a while. Then he murkily groaned, “…answer it.”
Tao Ran’s first phone call had already disconnected because it hadn’t been picked up for too long. He was evidently richly experienced in this matter. He quickly called a second time.
Fei Du had no way out. He could only answer. “It’s me, I can’t get him to wake up. I’ll put the phone next to his ear, and you can make do with saying what you have to say.”
“…huh? Uh… Haha.” Tao Ran first babbled out some meaningless filler words. After looking around for an age, he finally found his tongue. “All right… Well… Something’s happened, rather… rather urgent. Can you get him to hurry over?”
Fei Du said, “I can try.”
Tao Ran gave a dry laugh. “You just got out of the hospital. Look after your health. You shouldn’t…well…I mean…you know what I mean.” ]
If they do incorporate this scene, this is how I predict it’ll play out (hopefully…maybe):
In the drama, Fei Du is occupying the guest room. He’s an early waker, so he’s already up, but the incessant ringing of the phone grates on his nerves nonetheless. And with this in mind, he enters LWZ’s chambers cuz ‘hey man are u gonna answer that or what’. LWZ is pointedly ignoring the phone (bc #priorities), so Fei Du answers it for him. (If we’re lucky, maybe there’s a few shots of Fei Du gazing at LWZ’s sleeping figure before picking up the call.) Tao Ran, similarly to the novel, is baffled to hear Fei Du’s voice coming from LWZ’s phone. That line of ‘look after your health’ would probably be taken out, but they can still leave in the initial tongue-tied reaction.
(In the novel, it’s pretty apparent as to why Tao Ran’s flustered. In the drama, however, you could just chalk it up to suprisement at hearing Fei Du’s voice unexpectedly in the morning and nothing more. Ofc, we’ll know what he’s actually implying, but…censorship.)

S’s Notes:
This fic. THIS FIC. Not going to lie, I don’t read noncon and I probably would have skipped over this fic if it had been a main tag and not a chapter note, but I’m so glad that I read it. Heed the warnings as this fic had some VERY dark themes, but it’s an incredibly engaging plot that I could not put down.
I’m pretty sure I read all 100k of it over the course of a single day. It’s that good. The plot is built so beautifully, and the creativity in making such a vibrant and real world for Ghost Valley was just icing on the cake. I am currently reading through the sequels as well. All in all, incredibly engaging and well-written story that enraptures and delights the reader. Well worth the CW’s if they aren’t actual triggers to you.

Consciousness moves through him honey thick. Lao Wen hums, licking his lips, tasting salt and the bright tang of copper. A sharp bite of pain cuts through the fog and it's that that anchors him back into the present.
There's the slow realisation that there's something heavy in his gut. The kind of weight you get when you're bloated from a good meal, but stranger because you're not feeling it right in the back of your throat. He shifts, only to snap his eyes open, moan tripping off the tip of his tongue before he can cage it back in his chest.
"Hey, hey, hey, you're alright," Comes a soothing voice, followed by a gentle hand that curls over his cheek and a smile that immediately settles his stuttering heartbeat.
"Ah Xu? What--"
Lao Wen turns into his hold, only to feel the insistent weight of his belly pull at his focus. To his credit, Ah Xu merely laughs when he follows where his eyes fall.
Instead of abs, there's a distention that stretches out his skin. Not unlike the pregnant bellies of the women, he's seen before, but...
"We did it?"
Ah Xu doesn't answer immediately, choosing instead to lean in, brushing away the hair in his eyes, and sliding their lips together. Lao Wen arches into the comfort of his beloved's body hovering over his.
Slender fingers card through his hair for a moment before Ah Xu hums. "You did it. You took all of it, all of them, so well."
He doesn't feel tacky or any of the usual nastiness that comes with him coming all over himself. So it means that Ah Xu or someone else - smart money is on Han Ying - must have cleaned him up somehow.
Lao Wen splays his hand over the swell, revelling in the way his body aches and how he feels so strangely at peace with this.
"I..." Lao Wen tries, looking up at his Ah Xu. "How..."
With a gentle smile, Ah Xu dips in for a gentle peck to the corner of his mouth. "They are waiting for you to wake. I'll go get them, shall I?"
