What color would u say Akira’s eyes are? I see a lot of people say gray and I’ve also seen red, but I always thought they were a dark brown

You’re starting a cult around him so I figured you’d have an opinion

ok 1) not starting a cult that's just an in-joke making fun of a silly anon i got. 2) yes i do have an opinion. but also ...... FACTS !!! I usually go grey as the normal default but I understand the confusion. Official artworks for merchandise range from black to a light blue 😭. Lets take a trip down model / reference lane, shall we? First up: P5D!

We'll rope P5 / P5R into this too, because it's the same colour. Akira's eyes appear this shade... almost always! The metaverse, the real world... grey as graphite. Ah, but "almost! almost!?" you cry! Yes, yes. There's one exception.

Recall the persona awakening scene. Recall *all* of them, actually. All persona users have their eyes turn yellow when tearing their mask off.

This holds true for their models as well! For a few frames, during the summoning animation, their faces turn black and their eyes turn yellow. It's easier to see on some characters than others. (Others being joker. this took me SO long to scrub for.) Now, lets look at his sprites! So I guess we can call this part uh, Persona Q.A? (That's what these sprites are from, anyway...)

Now these eyes definitely look black! Honestly I think you could argue that the previous set were black too. On their own, they seem grey but the key thing to compare them with here is Akira's hair. They're both the same colour in the sprites and uh, that's definitely not grey hair. Now the anime! I won't be covering P5A: The Daybreakers because. Well. It'd just be more "Wow it's black. Now it's black again." P5A Is interesting because I swear to god his eyes were red when they were in mementos. but i must've imagined that???

That's just not a thing that happens! It's grey! The only exception is the... [shudders] All Out Attack. (Which also happens in P5:the game. forgot to mention that earlier; but it could be chalked up to mere aesthetic choice)

My assumption about red-eyes is at least partially true though. Nnnot in the sense that what I thought happened, happened, but more-so... Whenever Joker is depicted with red eyes, it's in his PT outfit. And like... only that outfit.

Mementos mission loves doing it. p5a does it. Artists do it. my BRAIN does it. Q2 also does it!! (hi all out attack. again)

other notable mentions for Doin' It Red While Being Joker are Akirby and the Official Jonker Nendo. Idk what that means but! Yeah

A few promo arts do the red-eyes thing like this original key art and multiple official illustrations for p5's release. I think it's just a fun aesthetics thing honestly. p5 is red. akira is from p5. slap some red on that bitch on him eye.

[ key art | strikers art | og p5 art ] So that solves that mystery. I think the idea of brown eyes either comes from being realistic (black eyes irl are just really really dark brown) op's colour palette ooooooooooor.... misunderstanding an official palette!

This is Q2's cut in graphic. The eyes look kind of brown, right? But it's mostly just a lighting thing. The face is darkened and the eye's colour is lightened to give that slick piercing-gaze-through-the-shadows effect.

(Q2 Akira is pretty pasty, as we can see here. the skintone matches the brightest highlight in the cut-in image.)

striker's sprites eyes look pretty brown too, but if you look at the hair and shadows, you can see it's because everything has a brown hue. we're doing black without doing black! (...except for the deepest shadows and lines, but cmon. if you put black on black its just gonna look like a big ol' blob.) this same effect is often used in many tribute artworks for p5 that aren't in the usual black/white/single colour style or crossover artwork because............ well it's basic colour theory. The only exception to the "rules" i've laid out here I have ever seen is the artwork done for Persora The Golden Best 5th Album artwork.

WHY ARE THEY BLUE. THAT'S WRONG. anyway. hoped this post helps you. my personal opinion is grey / silver if i wanna get all OOooh FANCY when writing a fic and waxing poetic and then yellow when summoning a persona or using some kind of spell in mementos. don't see brown in the slightest and red... yeah, i'll pass on having that be his default in mementos? maybe? idk i go back and forth on it lol. just get jiggy with it

4. Ghost Hunters. I just think it came out really well and the entire "getting through the window" debacle was honestly a delight to VA and was one of the few scenes where sound design did not make me want to wage war.

5. Keryth. So many of the things she says are just out of pocket. Like, girl, what are you doing??

7. I think couriers call... idk what tag they're under... also, I'd die of embarrassment.

11. A fun BTS fact. All my characters have their own body language? Keryth is a really bouncey person with a lot of shifting and fidgeting (too much energy). Rion's posture is pretty rigid and still. Elas fidgets (anxiety, more handwringing than the swaying Keryth does) and their eyes shift a lot. They give major prey animal vibes.

17. Skyjacks: Courier's Call. I don't know what it is about this Audio Drama, but I almost cried at the season 2 finale. This has never happened with an audio drama before or since. Like I was outside, walking my dog, head tilted back and fanning my eyes. And in that moment, I realized small things were allowed to matter? I'm not... entirely sure how I was doing mentally when it clicked into place (...squints, probs not *great*) but it inspired me to want to make a show where small and silly things were valued!

13- one of which is 25 fics i posted as chapters for a holiday/seasonal themed december thing - most my early work is elsewhere and i didn't do any writing for a good chunk of years lolz

76,771 (most of this was written since nov '23)

What fandoms do you write for?

RWRB currently may dip my toes into 911 at some point (my only non-rwrb fic on ao3 is marvel lol)

probably the second hand unwinds - it was one of my hey sweetheart fics and is pretty much just shy of 3700 words of alex being a sap (and the boys being cute girl!dads)

i had always planned go back and do more for my darcy/clint fic and make it into a series, but those ideas that got written down lamented away in a doc and are gone now lol

um....i don't know do i have these - i can write smut fairly well

i usually hafta go back and make sure i didn't just get uber prose-y and included enough dialogue - unless i'm doing it on purpose

cool if it works for the character - i really like when there's a translation somewhere - unless it's obvious what it means

historically its been all over the place but theres so much stuff rotting and dying in my gdrive that has never been posted so i feel like i have a broader actual ouvre than is represented on ao3. which is mdzs heavy at least in the past couple years

i used to try to reply to every comment i got but i stopped doing that around the same time i went to college and got more depressed. but i love reading comments and i sometimes reply if someone says something that moves me or like. asks me a question about the fic that i want to elaborate on? because i love to yap

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i'm not really good at writing straight angst i feel like it's normally like. angst with catharsis. but i wrote some explorations on grief in the past couple years that i feel like have the angst factor (what i have of you about nhs after nmj dies, and then when your beard fell out about my sweetie pie kageyama tobio in middle school after his grandpa dies)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

i have a lot of silly fluffy fics... idk i try to toe the line mostly of like. the joys and sadnesses of human experience but sometimes you just gotta fluff it up. i'll set the table, you can make the fire, which is book verse aziraphale/crowley living in a cottage and being in love, comes to mind....i love that one

8. Do you get hate on fics?

i don't think i've ever really gotten hate on a fic? i have been extremely lucky in that regard. especially since my whole ouvre from like 2014 onward is on that damn site and much of it is very cringeworthy.

9. Do you write smut?

not well!

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written?

i often will do like kind of a quasi-crossover kind of thing rather than a True Crossover wherein i take characters i like from one medium and plop them into the roles and places of characters i like from another medium. i did a dragon age wangxian fic where lwj was the inquisitor from da:i called we held together the fragile sky that kind of exemplifies this dynamic

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i know of or that anyone has ever notified me of, but i also don't look that hard. if this has ever happened, it would hurt my feelings, so please don't do it ? lol

yes!!!! and i was honored

not as such but i have one not-intended-for-posting fic which is basically just a transcription of jokes i have with my roommate about haikyuu characters LOL which i think counts as co-writing. she's my co-writer in spirit even if i'm the one at the keyboard

my answer to this changes with every new fixation i have. like right now it's kagehina. if you asked me four years ago i would have said wangxian. You Know?

15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

SO MANY...i think probably my fullmetal alchemist nie brothers au....i try not to post things until they are done and fully edited now, but that one was a whim-based fic that i lost all strength for as soon as i started thinking too hard about kagehina. i also had a fem nielan sci fi au that was vaguely based off beauty and the beast but nmj was like stuck in a ship and she thought she was its computer and that she was a program but she was actually a person....which i never posted any of except snippets on twitter and i think it was just too sprawling for my current skill level...i just was never able to wrangle it. but i am fond of it nonetheless

16. What are your writing strengths?

based on what other people have told me i would say the way i write sibling / family relationships, and while my prose is not always pretty i do think it can be pretty at times ...

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

i feel like it's often too self-indulgent even if that's what fic is for lol, and i tend to look back on fics and think, i wrote that because i had feelings about it and wanted to say it, but i'm not necessarily sure that This Character would say/do that at this point in time....idk like i fear that when i don't think about it hard enough my characterization can be weak or guided by what eye personally would do vs. what The Character would do. but some of that is because the majority of my fics on ao3 are from years and years ago and i (hopefully) have continued to improve

18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics?

i'm picky about it but when it's done well i think it's really fun and builds so much of the world/character. i think when it's bad it's really bad. when i go about it i try to think about like, a) do i know this language myself/do i know someone who does. if the answer is no i try to keep it really minimal. b) how do people who know multiple languages approach speaking those multiple languages naturally in real life. like (IN MY EXPERIENCE) ppl don't tend to switch languages for random words mid-sentence unless those words are like, mom, dad, uncle, aunt, ect...maybe swearing if they're less familiar with one of the languages and don't know slang/swearing in it...but again when it's done well it's really good and i'm not an expert. i just can kinda tell when it feels off when i read it, if that makes sense...(it's the same way i feel about grammar lol. sometimes i can just tell it's a little Off)

19. First fandom you wrote for?

probably either fma or soul eater or the sister's grimm book series when i was in middle school. or maybe doctor who? idk i had a lot of fanfic notebooks that i have since destroyed and then regretted destroying

20. Favorite fic you have written?

at the present moment it's in these coming years my kagehina love letter but again i feel like it changes constantly. like the more i write the better i get and the more the newest/most polished thing i've written sort of Becomes my favorite just by default of my satisfaction level with it. sorry if that's a bad answer

TOUCHSTARVED x IDV crossover concept!

HEY GUYS!!! In honor of my Luca B badge coming home (NA/EU serv), I’m finally posting my silly idea of what a crossover with Identity V would look like!

Disclaimer:

I’m well aware a touchstarved crossover will most likely never happen, but a man can dream... (◞ ‸ ◟)

With that said, let’s get into it!

Every character will be a survivor. Each skin would be of A tier rarity.

Kuras - Most likely would be assist or decoder. Seer (the owl would most likely become a dove or a small throne angel), OR Composer (totally not because I main him & their hair styles are similar)

Leander - EASY PROSPECTOR NEXT QUESTION

Vere - I can see him being role of container or assist... Maybe Acrobat or Painter!

Ais - Feel he would be a rescuer or container. First Officer is the best one I can think of, hell maybe even Wilding (the boar Murro rides could be a soulless methinks) but I’m not rlly so sure

Mhin - Container or rescuer 100%. Mercenary OR Coordinator

I’d include Sen & Elyon but since we don’t have much info on them idk who would fit them best 💀

Maybe in the future, I may make a part two with Sen & Elyon, hunter versions of the chars, & maybe accessory ideas?

- currently usually ducktales of course but I still mess around in my howl's castle series drafts every once in awhile. everything else is from when I was afflicted with being 14 and doesn't count

- "giving off sparks" which I did not put much effort into but I guess the people needed more Castle in the Air content

- the singular thing that survived the post-tma purge, that michael mcfuckhands thing, which is allowed to remain simply bc it was a little funny

- "after changes upon changes" - I will never forget the day I found out there was a secret sixth verse to the boxer and I think I may have ascended. anyway yeah this one was cute

- I try to but I'm shy and my brain is made out of spaghetti and pop rocks so if you left one and I didn't respond. <3.

- in general? probably one wtnv fic from the Bad Times (freshman year). attached to my ao3 probably "a home she could not keep" I have thoughts about Goldie o Gilt

- OUVGHGR idk I think that kind of depends on your definition of happy ending..... wednesday morning is cute changes upon changes is cute prodigal I definitely was writing the end like "this is so silly and sappy. POST!" but like idk I'm largely tired with pointless angst personally. like I'm okay with things sucking really bad for our heroes in the middle but ending a story on an upward trajectory is important to me when I'm writing

do you get hate on your fics?

- sometimes people say weird stuff about della in my comments and it makes me mad because she is just some guy

do you write smut?

- no I'd rather lock my barbies in the house and then shake it and yell EARTHQUAKE than make them kiss or heaven forbid.... anyway I have more important things to be doing personally

- hallmark chronic illness sophie hatter christmas..... also I just found a document that's five sentences of Benjamin Chang actually stuck in a time loop in s6e1. cool

- I completely blanked because I think I suck at everything so I phoned a friend and asked my ex wife and he said "your writing strengths are themes and motifs and also sick ass metaphors" Thank you ex wife

what are your writing weaknesses?

- actually writing

thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

- ummmm like I've written some stuff in French before because I'm proficient in it but I always heavily double check everything I've written so idk. I keep it to a couple lines at maximum because I'm not super comfortable with it

first fandom you wrote for?

- there isn't a way to answer this that isn't incredibly embarrassing so I guess that time I wrote a self insert character who was kind of weird and not like anybody else and got sorted into ravenclaw (I was eleven)

favorite fic you've ever written?

- oh how to choose! if I've posted it in the last two years I like it. I reread prodigal the most and people seemed to like it a lot but whenever I reread Wednesday Morning 3AM I'm like wait this rocks. wed3am is like my eldest daughter carved immaculately from marble that I forget exists and prodigal is the son I worship despite his formatting errors (they are part of the charm I'm not fixing them. I'm too stubborn)

How I feel about L: hhhhh sigh. hhh. sighhhshhshsiigggh. honestly? he's kind of like my favourite jumper. he's my number one comfort character ever and I came very close to crying in bed for days after he died. i am not 'typical about this man.

How I feel about Matsuda: he's such a cutie!! teehee!!! look at this silly fella who probably cuts his own hair!! giggling and kicking my feet cause he's funny and silly and would be a good friend doncha think?

All the people I ship romantically with L: Matsuda, Misa, Rie, other people's OCs (if they're shipped with him by their creator xD). Light deserves a mention because while I don't ship LawLight romantically I do think they're an iteration of the "red thread" trope because no matter what time, no matter what place, they'll write history together with a pen filled with their own blood in place of ink. that said I was genuinely surprised that so many people ship them just because I don't see it at all. I don't hate it, there's just nothing that clicks for me when looking at L and Light.

All the people I ship romantically with Matsuda: mostly just L, I've seen Matsu + Misa stuff but I think they'd be cuter friends.

My non-romantic OTP for L: Light 100%. You can't have one without the other. I can't explain all my thoughts about them without a whole post dedicated to it, but anyway, Light is my answer.

My non-romantic OTP for Matsuda: mentioned it above, Misa! They're two sillies and they're both :3 so they're besties and they've probably got matching friendship bracelets.

My unpopular opinion about L: he does eat normal food on a semi-regular basis. specifically, meat, usually I think steak. I hc him as anemic but also Watari wouldn't let L die or become malnourished and there's important things in food that you can't necessarily get in vitamins or tablets. and actually, as someone with anemia, I think L would actually have really strong cravings for rare or medium rare red meat when his iron is low and thus when he eats it he enjoys it.

My unpopular opinion about Matsuda: He's actually really smart, especially with humanities subjects. Just doesn't have great detective skills. A different career path may have been beneficial but he actually really believes in justice, probably more so than L and Light, and he actually QUESTIONS his own sense of justice which leads to more balance. he's such a great guy.

One thing I wish had happened with L in canon: he survived. and actually, I'd just really like to see him solve lots of cases. idk how many/if any he solved outside the anime but you know. a side series where he solves cases and explores the world and has tea parties with Watari would melt my heart.

One thing I wish had happened with Matsuda in canon: honestly I just wish we got to see more of him in general. I wish we got deeper into his character - into everyone's character, actually, they're all a little 2D and it's not just the animation - but yeah. more Matsu. how he works.

My L OTP: I'm not sure if I can pick one HAHAHHS I love all his relationships (well, my headcanons for them) from platonic to father and son to mentor and mentee to enemies together to lovers. yeah. I just like L LMAO but maybe Matsu. hm idk. I hear some people ship him with BB or Naomi and I wanna look into that.

My Matsuda OTP: lowkey L and Matsuda are one of my favourite ships. in Matsu's case I don't really ship him with anyone else so this is the only answer. some of you might have noticed that in my headcanons Matsuda plays Pokémon Go! and L is a Pokémon fan too... hmm... Also I like them cause they're both childish: like yeah L is always calling Matsuda stupid but does he call any other task force members stupid, even when they deserve it? no. arrogant child and silly child. even in non ship situations I think they're actually on similar wavelengths in a way.

My crossover ship for L: (platonic) Saiki K. you can't tell me they wouldn't be best friends come onnnn smnsndndm hehe

My crossover ship for Matsuda: I dunno actually...

A headcanon for L: if he has to wear shoes, he has to wear blue socks. not dark blue or navy, LIGHT, SATURATED BLUE. it's like neon ahhaha. there's little yellow flowers at the hem bits but his jeans cover them.

A headcanon for Matsuda: he doesn't like chips because they're too crunchy. he likes chips though. curly chips. YES I CALL BOTH TYPES CHIPS AND IT MAKES IT HARD TO DISCERN OVER TEXT SHSGYAYDH SORRY

Hi! I am kinda having a writing problem and I want to ask if you can give me some advice. (It's okay if you can't!)

From the beginning Adél has been a character that I struggled with alot (perhaps directly because she's my protagonist, though there could be other factors).

I feel like she serves her purpose in the "book" part of the story well, but I am unable to put her in a situation outside of that, and I don't know how to fix it!

I just wanna be able to get excited about her! Because I like Adél, I really do, but sometimes I get stuck when I try to think about her and it makes me really sad!

Perhaps the best way I can describe the problem is that I am being too "strict" with her. I let the other characters kinda run around and do their thing, but I really struggle to do that with Adél. Like I don't know how to let her out of the initial box that I had for her.

Idk if you noticed it or not, but even when sending you crossover scenarios I talk more about her brothers than her (or if not that, than the scenarios for her brothers are a lot easier to come up with for me). This is what I mean when I say I don't know how to put her in situations outside of the planned book.

The worst part of this all is that in canon Adél's worst fear is that one day all her fears and anxiety will grow so large that she won't be able to do anything, not even move, and I am litteraly making her unable to move in the situations that I come up with! I am unintentionally making her worst fear happen when I try brainstorming for her, and it's not in the good way!

I know how much you love Aiden and since he's your protagonist maybe you have some advice on how I can let Adél be a little freer? How to play around with her more?

It made lots of sense to me! I understand your problem and it’s pretty valid. I felt pretty much the same.

Because while yes, I love Aiden and I have him quite developed now, I had a really hard time shaping him. For the longest time he seemed flat to me, without much of a personality.

I think the problem with main protagonists is that sometimes we as writer focus so much on their task of holding up the story that we forget that they are a person, too, not story tools.

They have hobbies and feelings and plans and dreams outside of the story. Not everything about this character has to serve the progress of the plot. It can be hard to remember that.

To struggle with a character, a main character especially, is pretty normal. They need lots of time and care and constant work.

I think you might really be a bit too “strict” with her. Let her run wild once in a while, play around with her a little bit. A character needs to be removed from their story from time to time so that they can grow. I know it’s hard, but like you said, you have to get her out of the box.

Maybe you have a harder time to get Adél out of there because she as a character is really anxious and might not want to leave her box (which means she’s already a pretty much alive character with her “own will”, which is good!), so you have to nudge her a little bit.

Honestly the best way you can do that is with AUs. I know it sounds silly, but as someone with tons of AUs, let me tell you: never before did I learn as much about my characters as in AUs.

(A lot of oc development happened outside of my main story and in AUs. They made me grow more attached to my characters too, I feel like I got closer to them.)

Because those do exactly what I said earlier, they remove the character from their story and that’s pretty helpful.

The modern au helped me especially, because it confronted me with an important question, one you should ask yourself (if you haven’t already):

If Adél wasn’t the protagonist of your story, if she wasn’t even in your story’s setting but just a completely normal teenage girl, how would she be like? What would be her hobbies? Her passions? Her goals in life?

For example, I didn’t know a single hobby of Aiden beside archery before I had my modern AU, cause in-story Aiden doesn’t have time for hobbies all that much. What doesn’t mean he has none. But I only got ideas through the au.

I had to translate them to the old time / fantasy world a bit. Modern AU Aiden is a film geek, so canon Aiden has a love for stories, but not for written ones but told/performed ones.

Or alternatively, how about an AU where Adél isn’t the main protagonist? Think about how her life would be as a minor character or bystander. What would be different about her? Would something be different? Even realizing that she’d still be the same brings you closer to understand her.

I don’t mean that you should make up big and complicated AUs, just that you give some alternate scenarios (and how they would influence Adél) a thought.

Basically, just play dolls and dress up with her. Have some fun. Try to distance her from the story a bit. Because maybe the plot of your story blocks certain aspects of her that can only be unlocked by putting her somewhere else.

AUs are fun and help build the character. Plus if you keep changing the setting you can see what really makes a character themselves, which traits and such move with them from au to au and which don’t.

Something else that might help is do an interview with Adél in your head. Or on paper. Just ask her questions about herself. Or well, ask questions and think about what her answer would be.

Get to know her. Start small.

Little facts like her favorite food or color or animal or her favorite plushie as a kid or anything, really, can make her easier for you to grasp. (Maybe you already know those things, but if not they are worthy to consider).

Or you can get questions from character sheets or get to know me templates. Or more complex questions like “how would Adél react if [insert thing here]?” or “what would she take with her to a deserted island?”.

(Or yet again a different thing to ask yourself: what will Adél do after the story? Or, regarding your worries about her anxiety, work with that, too. Why does she fear what she fears? Since when? What if this fear actually comes true? What would she be like without that fear?)

What might also help is if you let her interact with the others more, let them drag her into their own “outside the story” adventures.

Like I said in that one post I made, Aiden only ever really talks to me if other characters are around. Maybe Adél needs a little help getting dragged out of the box. Next time you imagine a scenario for let’s say one of her brothers, let her join.

Letting characters react is sometimes easier than making them do something on their own.

And most importantly, take your time and don’t be too hard on yourself. You can’t fully know Adél yet. That’s completely okay. (I don’t know Aiden fully yet either). Tale your time figuring her out.

You will keep learning things about her as the story develops and progresses. She will grow along with it, trust me. If you adore her, that’s already enough. The rest will come to you eventually (maybe this answer helps you with it).

I’m really not good at giving writing advice, but I hope that what I said makes at least a little sense I was able to help you :)

And good luck with Adél! She’s lovely and I’m sure you’ll get to understand her better and help her grow!! ^^

That doesn't stop them from aligning themselves with the very oppresive organization that stood by and let the tragedy happen, but:

a) They are hurt and going with what is familiar to them

b) They will be chaotic af about it

They're bffs with figures that uphold the status quo, to varying degrees of how much power they actually have in the grand scheme of things (Cucurucho and Apple)

Isolation is a big theme in the Sleeping Beauty story, and that resonates a lot with Jaiden's arc and how she got close to Cucurucho at her lowest point vs how Briar tries to stay loyal to the Royals even when it hurts her and her closest friends, because Apple is her bestie and was always there for her

I used to do a LOT of Tales of Arcadia (Cartoons) but a few things happened in the show / movie that made me feel... idk, I'm on a bit of a break for the time being. I also write a couple of Dungeons & Dragons (Roleplaying Game) fics to explore my silly DnD OCs While my current writing obsessions being Discworld - Terry Pratchett and モブサイコ100 | Mob Psycho 100

I do!! I try to respond to all comments!! I can't always promise my response will be prompt, and sometimes I get in my own head and feel...worried? As if my response will somehow sway someone to not want to keep reading? But that's a me thing I'm working through Long answer short: Yes! I do respond to comments!! I adore them and they make me so very very happy!! Honestly a comment can be such a game changer, and a relief to my heart and I just HAVE to express my gratitude for taking the time to tell me such nice words!! I'll always try to respond to them!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmmm I have yet to finish the fic with the angstiest ending planned. I don't tend to write angst unless there is an ending that has some level of hope and happiness in it - for now.

But yeah, I suppose Unbecoming 2 Electric Boogaloo and The Last Changeling will eventually have some pretty angsty endings.

As well as several fics within the The Collected Tellings of Shigir and Other Changeling Folktales series which can be quite grim.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Another tricky question!! The majority my fics tend to have a happy ending planned despite the highs and lows I hope I manage to put my readers through.

Bit of a cop out answer I know, but it is what it is lol

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've only had that happen to me once lol. Once so far and for the silliest reason that left me just shaking my head for the most part

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! Not as often as my other stuff though. Hmm quite a bit of orgasm control I suppose.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

IVE WRITTEN ONE CROSSOVER AND ITS MY FAVORITE AND I HOPE THE STARS ALIGN FOR ME TO FINISH IT!!!

A Funny Old World MY BELOVED!!! It is essentially the Discworld and Mp100 crossover fic no one asked for hahaha

Not that...I'm aware of...

Again not that I'm aware of...and no one has yet to approach me to do so. Though sometimes I think of translating it myself into Italian.

I have! It was a great time with @megan0013 on the 23rd chapter of their fic Fallout where we combined the Fallout story with my made up Changeling Folktales.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I'm too bisexual for this question, I have, like, a fat stack of ships I adore. But of the ones I've written (in no specific order of importance) I really love Adora Belle and Moist, Serizawa and Reigen, Barbara and Strickler, Mort and Ysabell, Polly and Mal, and the list just goes on haha

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I don't think I appreciate the defeatist tone of this question haha. I'm sure I'll finish all of them...eventually. Some go in hibernation a little longer than others, that I won't lie. Hmm though, I'm going to be honest with myself the Terpsichore series seems to be the loftiest of goals at the moment. Who even knows when I'll finally finish it...but, like I said, I'd like to hold out hope that, someday it'll get done lol

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've been told I'm quite good at keeping characters in character, and my writing 'voice' is quite charming sometimes. I've also been told I'm quite good at writing cozy comfort fics. I hope, one day, I'll be able to add horror and suspense to the list of writing strengths.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Making things concise, I think. Sweet short and to the point. I'd love to get better at suspense and horror, just making readers sweat - you know?

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Oh man I have a lot of Thoughts about this actually XPP here's hoping they make sense!!

Depends on the characters, and what language they are speaking and what language the characters know beyond what they are speaking.

I viscerally do not appreciate it when, okay... here's an example: Character A and Character B are both speaking Italian, because the characters are Italian - so even though the fic and author is writing in English we ALL know that Character A and Character B are speaking Italian - so why add in an English dialogue bits of actual Italian?? We all know they are speaking Italian to begin with!! UNLESS, for instance, Character B for a moment spoke in a regional dialect which is different than the standard language.

I tend to call this the "Silenzio Bruno!" situation. Why are you having a character who is supposedly already speaking in a language suddenly say something of that language. It shouldn't be "Silenzio Bruno!" but "Quiet Bruno!" though in some cases I get it...and who knows maybe it'll perk up the interest of people and kids to learn other languages but oof does it rub me the wrong way sometimes

Wait hmmm perhaps thats too confusing

OKAY

EXAMPLE: In Glow Worms I have Serizawa as half Brazilian (there's in fact a huge Brazilian population within Japan! As well as a huge Japanese population within Brazil! Here are two fascinating video essays on the subject if interested [X] [X]).

When Serizawa is speaking with Reigen it is clear and obvious they would speak Japanese amongst themselves and around them, I wouldn't include actual Japanese unless it's a word that I can't really translate well, or is very clearly specific within the Japanese language (the difference between writing 'screen door' and 'shoji door' - both doors, but evoke different specific things). However, when Serizawa speaks with his mother there are often times Portuguese would crop up - an indicator that Serizawa is no longer speaking Japanese in that moment, or phrase or sentence.

The same can be said with Moist von Lipwig, and when he's speaking Morporkian vs Überwaldian. It is agreed that everyone tends to speak Morporkian to some degree as a defect-o Lingua Franca Quirma, and when they're not they're very clearly not!

NOW! In those moments when characters are speaking another language I prefer either it's something that can be figured out via context clues, or a translation is provided either in a footnote or by the character(s) themselves. This is something I feel more confident with if a character is speaking Italian, because then I don't have to worry about translator engines not translating something properly lol But I try to be as respectful and accurate as possible, and if I can't then I wouldn't attempt it and describe in the text that Character A and Character B are speaking another language amongst themselves.

OR (and this is something else I'm doing in Glow Worms) I'll describe a character speaking another language, and another character acts as translator - this is something I always adored in Discworld when characters interact with The Librarian as well as Death of Rats.

Which, again, I try to approach as respectfully as possible. Language is important!! It's a culture and a thought process! And should always be treated with respect

I don't know about Favorite, but there are several that I'm very proud of myself with...

The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Stupid Kid [working title] series, Hand Rolled, The Runaway's Gamble, AU REVOIR, to name a few. Several Trollhunter fics (especially Terpsichore, sometimes I look back on that and go "Wow I really wrote All of THAT?!")

And most recently: Glow Worms or rather: In the Depths of the Safflower Hills a fic that honestly? I find myself going back and rereading what I've written and posted more than once! And has helped me grow as a writer I think

nothing? i had a one-shot up for a little that was bittersweet, but i dont like it anymore lol. most of my stuff is smut-shots, but i have stuff in planned for the future that won't be all neatly tied up in a perfect happy ending......

i'd argue every smut-shot ends in a happy ending ;)

thankfully no! i'm still a very small writer, and i think the people who read my smut know exactly what they are getting into (i pride myself on tagging well)

right now i think my atla au :( for right now, i have other things that are pulling my attention away, and coming up with a concrete plot for it has been difficult to say the least. i want it to happen some day, juts not yet i don't think

i don't really know how to complement or be nice about my writing, bc i think it sometimes feels a bit silly to be proud of what i write given the content lol. but shan told me that he finds a lot of enjoyment in the actual content i write because not a lot of people write or talk about the same ideas i do, i actually have a lot of original things i talk about (at least for this fandom & jeg)

and yeah...i think that's something i can take a lot of pride it. no one else is talking about alpha x alpha jeg, or omega reg topping james, or jeg scarification...i am a first for a lot of these, or at least one of the only people talking so openly about it. i love discussing and writing the ideas that people may not be as into for the sole reason that i want them to exist. i see a gap somewhere and i want to fill it, and i can only hope someone else wants to read it to! i truly think that a big strength of mine is understanding that what i write may not attract a lot of readers, but i am 100%, without a doubt, writing for myself <3

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

i write very very slow. it's a mix of not wanting anything to be imperfect and also everything on earth can distract me. also, i often ignore the suggestions of my grammar checker to change from passive voice to active...idk sometimes passive voice is needed to me

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

if i felt like it added to the fic i would. i used DeepL a lot when i was in japan and i've heard it's a bit more accurate than google translate so i'd prob just use that and hope for the best

20. Favourite fic you've written?

i think intoxicating! i don't have anything super sappy to say about it, but i had a lot of fun writing it and i love how i just continue to cement myself as someone people think of when a/b/o jeg is brought up :) i think my favorite works will always be the ones i have the most fun with, and am also proud of how everything flowed in that fic as well. idrk what else to say bc complementing myself is hard so yeah...go read it!

I got tagged by @daydreams-and-honeybees and @halcyonhue (it won’t let me tag you and idk why! 😭)

This is gonna be very interesting and silly bc I have written much and posted little!! 🤣

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I used to dabble in writing voltron fic years ago, and that makes up the majority of works on my ao3 but currently writing for The Owl House and I’m hoping to outnumber the Voltron fics on my account with other fandoms 😎

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Lmao uhhhh since I only have 4 published, I’m just gonna say the top two tbh 😅😅😅

Ashes takes the number one, with Crowd of Thousands as my second most kudos on a fic

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes!! I love responding to comments! I want to discuss things with people reading my fics and (especially in the case of Ashes), I wanna see what my readers theories are on what’s going to happen. It’s one of my favorite parts of having people who read what I write!!

If you’ve ever left me a comment and I haven’t responded, don’t be discouraged. Sometimes I just don’t know what to say beyond a giant thanks for reading. 😅 And sometimes I won’t reply if my last reply was a teaser

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Uhhhh so if I had finished it, it WOULD have been the untitled Bungo Stray Dogs Heathers AU fic I got like 75% of the way done writing and then abandoned.

But other than that I don’t have any with an angsty ending—oh wait no ¡Viva La Gloria! is technically a published fic in my ao3 isn’t it?

Not really. I don’t really read them either tbh

I’m kind of the kid who doesn’t want their foods to touch on their plate when it comes to entire fandoms in fics it’s just not my thing

Not yet, or at least not to my knowledge.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Somewhat?

The planned Elowyn piece I have is something my girlfriend and I came up with together. So I have co-authored concepts

The first two or three chapter of Ashes, besides the prologue, there was a LOT taken from the discord RP that I’d originally come up with the plot of Ashes for. I had permission from that friend to use them. And I heavily, HEAVILY took out and then rewrote their portions (namely the Raine parts of the chapters “Moving Day” and “Hexside” bc the rest at the time were my characters). Their original writing has been scrubbed and a lot of Raine’s character and story arc has transformed into something else entirely. Pretty much all that remains is that they were the one who came up with the idea that Raine was Manny’s sibling. If they read it, they could probably still see the bones of what they wrote if they squint. But by the time Luz hits Eda with the door in “Hexside,” they’d already moved on from the rp. So it was very easy to rewrite around their parts and just reuse the posts I that I had written for those chapters.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Oh jeez.

Either the untitled Bungo Stray Dogs Heathers AU that was never posted anywhere, or The First Golden Guard.

Pretty much The First Golden Guard i have just notes scribbled out of the plot, what I think the first chapter is, and some various bits of dialogue from different moments in the fic. But then I started writing Ashes and that took over my life, and now I really want to write The Caleb Files, and the bonus stuff that got cut from Ashes. Plus the Elowyn fic. so I just don’t know if it will ever get written now

16. What are your writing strengths?

Description and voice.

I really love getting a little flowery when describing action or setting while writing. And in the case of setting in particular, I think I have a more natural ability.

I also really strive to make sure each character’s own unique way of talking comes through in their dialogue. Maybe not always when the narration makes the reader privy to their thoughts and emotions, but at the very least, their dialogue does.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Bro just cannot stop yapping!!

I actually genuinely do believe my greatest weakness is my inability to shut up sometimes. I’m sure if I go back and reread Ashes from the beginning, I’ve said the same shit multiple times.

Also sometimes I just get repetitive!! And I use certain colloquialisms like “just,” “after all,” and “as if” FAR too often.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

sigh.

I am a latinx person who lived through the VLD fandom… I have a LOT of opinions… and I have seen some bad Spanish dialogue written by non-Spanish speakers… the kind of shit that stands out to even me, when I have little verbal fluency.

Here’s the thing: I am not AGAINST anyone writing another language of dialogue into their fics. I actually do think it’s a good thing.

HOWEVER!!!

If you are a person who only speaks one language—if you’re a person who kind of doesn’t know what I’m talking about when I say ‘code switching’ or only understands the basic definition of code switching—I am BEGGING you to try and have someone with more experience in that language than you to proofread those dialogue sections.

The amount of times I’ve seen weird moments where the code switching didn’t make logical or emotional sense for the character beyond the author’s “I want to include Spanish here” is innumerable. And that’s not to say code switching needs to have a deep, profound reason all the time—sometimes code switching happens bc there’s no word or phrase in one language that directly translates from the concept or emotion you know how to describe in another! But from what I’ve found, there are a lot of people who understand code switching in concept (and that it’s important for representation) but not in practice bc they simply have no firsthand experience with it. I don’t blame them, though! It’s a hard thing to understand on description alone! Unless you’ve experienced it before, I don’t think it’s something you can fully comprehend. And it can stand out. You can even think you’ve done it right on technicality, but it falls flat.

A tiktok in how to spot AI images I once saw said “AI understands that a mirror, or stairs, or chair legs have to be there there, but it doesn’t understand why it functionally exists or what purpose it serves” and therefore it makes mistakes by adding twelve stairs on the right and fourteen on the left, or five legs on two chairs that are somehow sharing them, or mirrors won’t show the correct items reflected back. I’ve seen many well-meaning fic writers (and published authors!!!) do the exact same thing with language switching. They understand that it should be there, but not functionally why.

Also a basic “don’t rely on google translate” here….. but also a less basic one: different cultures of a shared language are gonna have different turns of phrase and different slang. I’ve also seen a lot of fics that have Lance (a Cuban character) using Mexican slang or words. That’s always awkward.

There’s just a lot. I could go on about this forever but I think I pretty much covered it all.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Ever?! Lmfao Harry Potter when I was a young teen. I didn’t understand what I was doing at all and only did it because my older friend who knew I liked writing my original stories at the time said that I should try writing fic.

I didn’t even have a plot or anything. I just genuinely thiugh fanfic was writing your little self insert OCs and perpetually playing with them in a dollhouse made of your favorite thing 🤡🤡🤡

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Wholly and completely, without a shadow of a doubt

Ashes

It’s genuinely the first fic I’ve ever written where I have actually wondered if I was better off writing it as an original story and going the publishing route. Unfortunately for future me and fortunately for you all, I’m way too attached to the characters as their original names and incarnations to do that 🤣

It’s also the first fic I’ve ever written where I went into it already knowing every piece of the puzzle and having all the clues laid out to perfectly set them up ahead of time. I’m very proud of that and I long for the day where someone rereads Ashes after it’s over and discovers the tiny things in the extremely early chapters that were hints towards the end.
