Bounty Hunter - Borrowed Time.
Tumblr media
Warnings: swearing, blood, injuries, violence, death.
Pairing: Bellamy Blake x Grounder!reader.
Word count: 7910.
Masterlist.
Series Masterlist.
Deciding against your instincts, you stayed in the throne room and helped taking down the barricade. As you continue disposing all the wooden items aside, the pain in your whole body was almost possessing. However you breathed through it and continued helping, knowing that it wasn’t the time to fall behind. The doors opened, finally giving the people a way down. You went to follow them before a voice stopped you.
“Y/N.”
You turned around and saw Clarke making her way to you. “I just wanted to say thank you, for helping. And to apologize to you. You didn’t deserve the way I was treating you and-“
“I get it, Clarke. You were under stress, but it’s all over now. We’re good, don’t worry.” You paused for a second. “I actually need to thank you, you really save my ass today, you saved everyone. Thank you.”
She offered you a small smile before wrapping her arms around you. You couldn’t help your surprise as you stayed frozen beside her, hesitantly placing one arm around her. As you pulled away you saw Bellamy walking towards the two of you, his face was dirty with mud and blood, making you mentally wince.
“Everything okay?” He asked, looking between the two of you.
“Yep.” You nodded. “Everything’s good.”
“I’ll get my mom to take a look at you, wait here.” Clarke said and went to find her mom, leaving you and Bellamy standing beside each other.
“Are you okay?” His voice made you look up at him.
“I’ll be fine, just a few scratches.” You shrugged, a small smirk on your face. But as you looked up at him you realized that joking wasn’t exactly something Bellamy enjoyed at the moment. “What’s wrong?”
“This isn’t over, not even close.” He said sternly, making you look at him with confusion. “There is going to be a wave a radiation that will kill us all in six months. I believe you know it as Praimfaya.”
“What?” You said in shock. “H-how do you know this?”
“Alie told Clarke it’s-“ he paused, looking for the right words. “It’s difficult to explain, but it’s coming. And there’s nothing we can do to stop it.”
“Holy shit..” you whispered, still completely shocked by his reveal. “So what, in six months we die? There’s gotta be a solution, right?”
“One thing at a time. We’ll figure it out.”
His words didn’t calm you and he could see that. He cupped you cheeks gently and tilted your head up. “It’s going to be okay. Now, let’s get you to Abby. You took a lot of hits today.”
“You did too.” You mumbled.
“That’s why we’re both going to see Abby.” He replied and gave you a wink, placing his hand on you back as he led you to the doctor.
You sat on the wooden chair, clenching you jaw as Abby worked on your face, patching up the small cuts that were scattered on your face.
“How’s your stomach?” She asked, just finishing the last of the stitches.
“It’s good, doesn’t hurt. Thank you.” You said and you really were grateful for her. She did save your life after all.
“Of course. I’m done, you may go now.”
You stood up, walking towards where Bellamy and Clarke were waiting for you by the doorway.
“Hey,” Bellamy said as soon as you got close to them, “you’re okay?”
“Yeah, good to go.”
The three of you made your way down the tower, silence being the only thing keeping you company. You were beyond exhausted, your body aching and eyelids heavy, but you didn’t let that affect you as you walked out of the exit, you mouth gaping open as you took in the sight of all the bodies, all the people mourning over the ones they lost.
“She’ll be okay.” Clarke’s voice made you look away from the horrifying sight. “Octavia can take care of herself.”
You looked to your left and saw Bellamy’s conflicted face. “That’s not what I’m worried about.” He replied, his voice slightly distant.
“She won’t be charged.” Clarke said, shaking her head whilst keeping her worried eyes on Bellamy. “Everyone will say that Pike had it coming.”
He finally tore his eyes from the scene before you and looked back at Clarke. “Maybe we all do.”
His words made you think about Lincoln’s sacrifice, about how you were supposed to bear it with him. But you didn’t. You weren’t the one who saved anyone, you were the one who got another chance at a life you didn’t deserve. So maybe you did deserve to die, to suffer, to pay for all you’ve done.
“How do we tell these people that the world is ending after everything they’ve been through?” Clarke asked no one is particular.
“We don’t.” You said, making them both turn to you. “Telling them they’re going to die without giving them a solution is beyond stupid, and is also a cause to start a war.”
“Y/N is right. Besides, I could use a break from keeping you two alive.” He added with a small smirk.
“Right.” You scoffed. “Like I didn’t save your ass at least ten times today.”
He gave you a small smile while Clarke was still wearing her troubled face, looking at the people.
“You gave them back their pain, Clarke. You saved them. Let them recover before dropping the Praimfaya bomb on them.” She looked at you, her face still not relaxed, but she nodded anyway.
“Good.” Bellamy said. “Once everyone’s down, we go home, get to work. We didn’t survive this long just to let a little radiation take us out.”
“I wouldn’t say little but yeah, let’s go the optimistic way.” You muttered under your breath, your attention quickly being drawn to a woman crying over a dead man. “I’m going to stay here and help.” You said, eyes still focused on the woman.
“I’ll come with you.” Clarke joined you. You quickly walked toward the woman. You crouched down next to her, placing your hand on the man’s shoulders. No injuries visible.
“He didn’t fall.” Bellamy said, speaking your thoughts.
“He chased me in the City Of Light.” Clarke said, drawing your attention to her. “Lexa killed him.”
“Lexa?” You asked rising up to your feet. “She was there?”
“No, her spirit was.”
“The spirit of the Commander, it’s saved in the Flame.” You spoke slowly.
She nodded, agreeing with you, but that wasn’t the thing that drew your attention. Behind her, the woman rose to her feet, a dark look on her face as she glared as Clarke.
“Wanheda.” She said hatefully. “Yu don dula disha.” You did this.
All the people around you were staring at you, muttering words under their breaths, glaring at you.
“You need to get out of here, it’s not safe.” You said, walking back towards where you came from, hearing their footsteps follow you. From the distance, you saw Abby and Kane standing, watching you as you got closer.
“Good, you’re down.” Clarke said looking between the two. “We have to go. The rover’s in the north woods.”
“What about the wounded?” Her mother asked.
“Grounders don’t want our help.” Bellamy answered her. “Our people, we treat back at Arkadia.”
His words left you at question. It’s their people who are coming back to Arkadia. It’s their people who need to be treated in Arkadia. You weren’t their people, you weren’t anyone’s people. You didn’t have anywhere to go. Lexa was gone, Lincoln was gone and you had no idea where Nyko was. Before you could get lost in your thoughts Raven’s voice came through the radio attached to Bellamy’s belt. He looked at you and Clarke before stepping aside, nodding you to come with.
“Bellamy, please come in.” She said again.
“Raven,” he said, “you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. We’re all in one piece.” She replied, her voice reassuring.
“That’s good. There’s something we need you to look into.”
“First tell me how my friends are.” She insisted. “Did everyone make it? Clarke? Y/N?”
Clarke took the radio out of Bellamy’s hand. “I’m okay, we’re both okay, thanks to you.” There was a pause before Clarke continued. “Raven, did Alie ever tell you why she created the City Of Light?”
“No. Why?”
Clarke opened her mouth to answer however a voice from the crowd interrupted.
“Haihefa. Em ste alive! Oso gaf a fisa!” The king. He’s alive! We need a healer!
You immediately turned to the sound, knowing it was Roan they were talking about.
“Clarke?” You heard Raven’s voice through the radio voice.
“Fill Raven in.” Clarke told Bellamy before turning to her mother. “They need a doctor.”
Clarke bagan making her way to Roan alongside Abby, Kane and you. You ran to him, helping Clarke flip him over as you examined him. His face was dirty with blood and a gun wound im his chest.
“What..” you trailed off, not knowing what to ask or say.
“He got shot trying to help me. I thought he was dead.” She quickly explained.
Abby placed two fingers on his neck. “Not yet. But he’s close.” She moved him slightly, revealing his back. “No exit wound. We need to get the bullet out quickly.”
“What can I do go help?” You asked. Before she could answer you a sword was pressed against your throat, making you quickly draw back and stand with your hands raised.
“Get away from our king.” The voice belonged to none other than Echo, the girl who left you and Bellamy alongside 46 of his people to die.
“Wait. Please, No.” Clarke called, only to be ignored.
“I could save him, but you have to let me.” Abby said.
“We have our healer.” Echo quickly declined.
“Listen to her, Echo. Their healer is much more skillful than any other I’ve seen, that’s what Roan needs right now.” You tried to talk to her, only to be met with the blade pressing harder against your skin, blood already escaping.
“Shut up, assassin.” She snapped at you before turning to her people. “Hon daun haihefa gon bangeda kom rest kom oso dead.” Take the king to the embassy with the rest of our dead. She ordered her guards. “Dula'm op nau.” Do it now.
They walked over to Roan, lifting him up and taking him away.
“Echo.” You heard Bellamy’s stern voice as you watched him make his way to you through the crowd, his face worried as he looked at you.
“Bellamy, don’t. It’s okay.” You tried to assure him, but he was having none of it.
“Let her go, Echo. Let her go, now.” He said angrily, fighting against Kane who was holding him back.
“Back off, Bellamy.” She warned him, pressing the blade even harder, making you wince. His eyes met yours and you gave him a nod. “I’m fine.” His head shook as he still looked at you with worry.
“Echo, not to mention I saved you life, your king is my friend. Let them help him. They won’t hurt him.” You said in a calm voice, trying to reason with her.
“You’re right, you did save my life. I owe you one.” Was all she said before pushing you forward, you falling to the ground of it wasn’t for Bellamy catching you and pulling you into him.
“Are you okay? Did she hurt you?” He asked you and cupped your face, eyes locking on the small cut on your neck.
“I’m okay. It’s okay.” You told him and took his hands in yours. His eyes softening for a second before he looked past you as Echo, anger possessing his face again as he pulled you close to him, as if protecting you with his body.
“Look around you.” Echo said, looking at everyone then letting her eyes rest on you. “Skaikru did this to us. Because of them, Ontari, your rightful Commander, is dead. This imposter stole her Flame.”
“No.” Kane said, stepping forward. “Wanheda saved us, all of us - Grounder and Skaikru.”
“There would have been nothing to save us from if not for you.” Echo shot back.
“Azgeda has no authority here.”
“We do now. In the name of king Roan, as rightful caretakers of the throne of the commanders, Polis is now under Azgeda rule.” She announced.
You look up at Bellamy, both of you sharing a worried look. This was not good, not good at all.
“Like hell it is.” One of the ambassadors stepped forward, stopping in front of Echo. “Where’s your war chief, girl?”
“Our war chief is dead, ambassador. As a member of the Queen’s guard, command of the army had fallen to me until the king awakens.” She said, a small smirk playing on her lips.
“If he awakens.” The ambassador corrected her. “Until a new commander can ascend, Polis is to be ruled by ambassadors of the coalition. If Azgeda wants it, they must take it by force.”
In a swift move, Echo sliced the ambassador’s throat with her sword, the woman falling down to the ground, dead. “Consider it taken. No Skaikru leaves this city. Gon Azgeda!” For Ice Nation! She yelled rising her sword high in the air, all the soldiers following her move, cheering.
“Looks like saving the world will have to wait.” Bellamy said from behind you.
________
You found Octavia with the wounded by Indra’s side. You quickly made your way to her.
“Octavia, you need to come with me. It’s not safe for you here.” You said, your eyes flickering between her and Indra. You did not know what was the woman’s opinion on you, and you didn’t intend to stick around and find out.
“Why? What’s going on?” She asked, coming to stand in front of you.
“Echo, the Ice Nation bitch, decided to take Polis under her control. She killed an ambassador already and is out for Skaikru. You need you come with me or else you’re dead.” You explained, hoping that she would listen.
Indra came to stand beside her, examining you. “Why should we trust you, assassin?”
“There we go.” You muttered under your breath with an eye roll. “I was there, okay? Pretty sure I didn’t imagine having a sword to my throat the entire time.”
“It’s okay, Indra, we can trust her.” Octavia said to her mentor.
“Alright then, take us to them.”
“One thing before. Any idea how we get Polis out of the hands of Azgeda?”
She took a second to think before answering. “War. I can get the other clans to join Trikru and Skaikru to a battle against Azgeda. It is the only way we’ll be able to win back Polis.”
“Only?” You pressed further, desperate for an answer that didn’t include death.
“If what you’re saying is true and Echo did murder the ambassador, then I’m afraid so.”
You led them to where Kane and Abby told you to bring them, opening the door for Indra and Octavia. You came to stand beside Bellamy as you watched Indra embrace Kane, something a bit out of the ordinary, you’d say.
“Well?” Clarke asked you, stepping closer.
“You’re not gonna like it.” You shook your head.
“When you destroyed the City Of Light,” Indra began explaining, “there were a thousand Azgeda warriors inside the city of Polis.”
“Good timing.” Octavia commented.
“Only way to remove them is by force.” Indra continued.
“Then let’s remove them.” Octavia cut in again.
“Slow down.” Abby said, cutting between the two. “You’re talking about a war.”
“Yes. Rockline, Flokru and Broadleaf will join Trikru without question, but we’ll be short.”
“This is madness.” Abby whispered, looking around the room before going back to Indra and Kane. “We should be leaving with the others. While we still have time.”
“They know where we live. If we run, they’ll follow.” Kane said, turning her down. “There are 8 other clans. How do we get them to join us?” He asked Indra.
“I can do it, but I’ll need the flame.” She said, her gaze turning to Clarke.
“No.” She shook her head almost immediately.
“Clarke, the clans will follow whoever has the flame. Indra won’t be able to persuade them without it.” You said to her, but she was quick to shut you up.
“Azgeda won’t.” She argued.
“Then we fight.” Octavia said. “That’s the point.”
“No it’s not.” She shot back. “The point is, there’s no time for a fight. We have to save Roan.”
“Save him? They won’t let us near him.” Octavia argued.
“Wait a second. What don’t we know?” Abby asked, reading her daughter like a book.
“The reason Alie created the City Of Light.” Clarke said, drawing the attention of all the people in the room.
“Why?” Kane was the one who dared to asked.
Before she gave him her answer she looked at Bellamy, receiving a reassuring nod from him. “Nuclear reactions inside power plants that survived the bombs are melting down. Radiation levels are already rising. If we can’t figure out a way to fix it, all of us will be dead in 6 months.”
You looked around the room, taking note of the fear on each of their faces.
“Alie told you this?” Kane insured.
“Yes.” She nodded.
“And you believe her?” Abby questioned further.
“Raven‘s looking into it.” Bellamy replied her.
“I believe her.” Clarke said, ignoring Bellamy’s response.
“Even if it’s true, that’s 6 months away.” Indra said. “There are a thousand Ice Nation warriors on the street who want to kill us today.”
“They won’t kill us.” Clarke said confidentiality.
“How could you possibly know that?” Octavia asked her.
“Because we’re gonna surrender.”
The plan was clear, Jaha gets you in the room disguised as what’s supposed to be Ontari’s body, an offer to Azgeda as a peace offering. Once you’re in the room, you take down the guards and let Abby and Clarke in so they can save Roan. A perfect plan, however on borrowed time.
“Be careful, okay?” Bellamy said as you secured your weapons.
“I’m be fine, it’s not like if I fail we die.” You joked, relieved to see a small smile on his face. “There it is, the famous Blake smile.” You words made his smile even bigger and that rose a smile on your face.
“I promise I’ll be okay, I’ll kick ass and save ass.” You said with a smile, joining Bellamy as hd chuckled. He cupped your face and brought you close to him. “I love you.” He whispered before connecting his lips to yours. You immediately complied, placing your hands over his as you kissed him back. “I love you, too.” You said as you broke apart.
“It’s time.” Clarke said, making you pull away from each other’s embrace.
“Let’s do this.”
Jaha carried you into the room, you being covered with fabric to give the illusion of being a dead body.
“Ontari belong with her people.” You heard Jaha say after he entered the room.
“Put em kom others.” Put her with the others. Echo ordered. Soon enough, you were grabbed from Jaba’s arms into the arms of an Azgeda guard then placed on the ground.
“En show em ha Azgeda repays a hana gon bringer kom klika.” And show him how Ice Nation repays a favor to the bringer of the Key. She added, and you immediately knew what was going to happen.
Soon there were sounds of struggle and fists hitting and grunts, which most likely belonged to Jaha.
“Skaikru ste surrendering.” Skaikru is surrendering. One guard said, making the others finally stop their assault on Jaha.
“Goch op haihefa.” Guard the king. Echo ordered. “Rest ona ai. En lid in em seintaim.” The rest, on me. And bring him too.
You heard her footstep, followed by the others, walk out of the room, the door opening and closing, signaling that you were alone. You slowly cut the fabric open with your knife, careful not to alert the guards and the healer. You sat up, observing the room before getting up and making your way to the center of the room. You started with the guards, sliding on your knees and slicing their claves, making them both drop to their knees, perfect position for you to jab your knives into their chest. Two down, on to go. You decided to get creative and grabbed one of the spears that belonged to the now dead guard and threw it, hitting the healer bullseye in the head. A small smirk played on your lips as you did so. A part of you really missed doing this, and that was what scared you the most.
You walked over to the side door and opened it, allowing Clarke and Abby to step into the room. “King’s on the table.” You informed them.
Clarke quickly got to work whilst Abby took a second to observe what you’ve done. Two dead guards by the door and one in the floor with a spear through the mouth. You knew what was going on through her head as she took a glance at you, however you knew you were short on time.
“Well, go save him.” You rushed her. She joined Clarke beside the table and they both got to work. Now all you had to do is wait, and hope no one comes back.
Night has fallen, Clarke and Abby were still working on Roan. You paced the room, stopping by the window. You spotted Bellamy, standing in front of Echo. You guessed she asked for him, it’ll only make sense. An Azgeda spy, a very not trusting person. You jaw clenched, seeing all of the weapons pointed at Bellamy, making you unease. You knew he would nail this, that guy really had a way with words. It was Echo you didn’t trust. She was exactly the person who would make a dick move and betray what was supposed to be a peaceful conversation about a surrender.
“Hurry the fuck up, things are moving down there.” You said, turning to Clarke and Abby.
“I need more time.” Abby said. In her hand she what you guessed was the thing that was supposed to pull the bullet out. Clarke was pressing a piece of fabric neck to it to soak the blood.
“The bullet is pressing against his carotid.” Clarke said, panicked.
“It’s cutting off blood flow to his brain.” Abby followed up on her thread. “As soon as I get it out, he should wake up.”
She twisted the tool, repeating the words, ‘got it’ over and over again until finally she pulled the bullet out. “Good job.” Clarke praised her. You sighed in relief.
“Now we wait.” Abby said. You looked out of the window again, Bellamy and Echo still haven’t moved, which was a good sign. However, you were still stuck in the same position, depended on when or even if Roan wakes up.
“His breathing is still shallow.” Abby’s voice made you turn away from the window.
“You said his lungs were fine.” Clarke claimed.
“No. I said I though so.” She corrected her. “It’s possible a bone fragment could’ve lodged in the tissue.”
You didn’t know what that meant but you knew it wasn’t good. You clenched your jaw and cursed under your breath, returning to your post by the window. Echo turned around to leave, but not before Bellamy grabbed her arm, making all of the Azgeda guards raise their weapons, ready to shoot. You heart leaped to your throat as you watched her kick him down to the ground and taking his knife out of its holster, pressing it against his throat. Your hand moved to your own knife in instinct. You were officially out of time.
“It’s time to go.” You said as you stoped beside them.
“No. He needs more time.” Abby insisted.
“If Roan doesn’t wake up, we’re all dead.” Clarke said, backing up her mother.
You took a shaky breath in, knowing that Bellamy’s life was at steak. You looked at the window, ready to get back to it to see if he was okay when loud banging was heard through the room.
“They’re here, time’s up. Back door, now.” You demanded.
“I have to close, or he’ll bleed out.” Abby said, staying put as she went to arrange he things.
“No. We have to go, or we’ll bleed out.” You said harshly.
Clarke pushed the piece of fabric into the bullet hole with her finger. “This is gonna have to do.” She muttered.
“Good job.” Abby said.
“Let’s go.”
You turned around to the door but stopped as it was bursted open, Azgeda guards behind it.
“Fuck.” You muttered, this was not good at all. You were screwed.
You pulled out your knife and got ready for the attack. One charged at you but you quickly turned, sending your elbow to his side before stabbing him in his leg, then killing him with one to the heart. Next one grabbed you from behind, locking both of your arms behind your back, your knife falling from your hand. You groaned in frustration as you tried to pry yourself free. Echo barged into the room, her guards following her, one of them holding Bellamy. She pulled out her sword and held it against his neck.
“Bellamy.” You said before you could stop yourself. His eyes met yours and before you could do anything the guard pushed you to your knees, giving you the leverage you needed. You you leaned forward, letting him hold your body by your hand before you threw you head back, colliding it with his nose. A very underrated weak spot. As Nyko used to say. His hold on your hand loosened and you rolled forward before standing up. If you were going down, you were going down with a fight. As another guard lunged at you you rised your leg and kick him in his chest before placing your forearm against his neck then punching him as hard as you could. Before you could do anymore damage, the sound of Bellamy grunting made you stop and look at him. The knife now digging in his skin. You glared at Echo but raised your hands nonetheless. The guard the was holding you first came behind you and held you in your place. You looked at Bellamy, the blade no longer in his skin however there was a red line where it was, and that was enough to anger you.
You laughed. “You’re a coward, a power-hungry one, but still a coward. Using Bellamy to stop me, smart, but a coward’s move. We both know you couldn’t stop me if you tried to.” Your words made her drop her sword from Bellamy’s throat, to your relief. She made her way over to you and glared at you with a hateful look.
“You’re nothing but a dirty bounty hunter, no respect should you be treated with.” She spat.
“Whatever you say. You’re the boss, right? Well, as long as Roan is napping.” You weren’t stupid, you weren’t just trying to provoke her because you felt like it. You were stalling. She was going to waste no time in executing all of you and putting an end to Skaikru. However all those plans weren’t possible if Roan was in charge instead of her. So all you had to do was run your mouth just a little bit more and death will no longer be an option.
“I’d advise you to shut up before I kill you.” She warned, but you weren’t phased by that.
“You making the kill instead of ordering someone else to do it? Wow, some queen you are.” You taunted her, only to be met by her sword to your neck. You chuckled. “Come one, to the throat? Now even the heart? We’re talking about the bounty hunter who save you here, can’t you-“
“Ona em knees.” On her knees. She ordered the guard that was holding you. He pushed you down to your knees and you looked up at Echo, her sword raised.
“No, Echo stop!” Bellamy yelled, but was quickly held back by a guard. “Stop! Don’t touch her!”
“Gon ai Haiplana.” For my Queen.
However before she could kill you, a voice of a familiar king made your whole body wash with relief.
“Hod op!” Wait! Roan called as he sat up, alive and breathing. His eyes went to Echo, then to you. Perfect timing.
“Ai haihefa.” My king. Echo immediately said.
“Roan, help us.” Clarke pleaded him. “Tell them we’re friends.”
He stood up, coughing, clearly not in a state to move so much.
“You shouldn’t try to stand so soon.” Abby called for him.
“Where is Ontari?” Roan asked, confused to what was going on.
“Dead, sire, killed by them.” Echo reported.
His face dropped, then he glared as us.
“We couldn’t save her, but we did what we came here to do. Now I need you to honor your promise to protect my people.” Clarke said to him.
“Yeah, that was before your people shot me and killed my commander.” He shot back, his hand still on his wound as he leaned on the table.
“We just saved your damn life.” Octavia said, not happy with his response.
Echo made her way to Roan, lowering her voice but you could still hear her. “Roan, your people are hungry for you to lead them. Do as your mother would have. Kill Wanheda. Take her power and rule over everything.”
Roan didn’t say anything, just looked at Clarke, then at her mother, then at you. “Lock them up.”
________
You sat on the floor on the cell, head leaned back against the wall as you sighed heavily. You occupied yourself with the chain holding you in place, running your finger up and down.
“What the fuck was that back there?” Bellamy snapped at you from where he was sitting beside you.
“That was stalling.” You answered him, not looking up.
“You could have gotten yourself killed, Y/N. Hell, you almost did.” He kept going.
“Yeah, almost.” You said, finally looking up at him. “I was just stalling because one way or another she was going to kill us all, but she wasn’t going to do that if Roan was awake. All I had to do was simply stall her until Roan woke up from his half-dead slumber. And look, it worked!” You added in a cheery tone.
“You are crazy, you know that?” He said, but he didn’t sound as harsh as before.
“Not crazy, baby, smart.” You corrected with a smirk. He returned the smirk with a smile of his own.
“But you really did have me worried there.” He said after a few seconds. “I really thought she was going to kill you.”
You moved your hands so one could rest on his thigh as an act of comfort. “She didn’t, and I’m sorry, I’ll let you know if I have another master-plan in mind.”
He chuckled and leaned forward to press a kiss to your forehead.
The sound of guards approaching the cell made you and Bellamy pull apart, now focused on the entry. Three guards entered the room, followed by Echo. Your heart was beating faster as they walked over to you, one of them gripping your arm and pulling you harshly to your feet. You winced as he did, the pain from your injuries still not gone.
“Where are you taking her?” Bellamy demanded, standing up as well. He was ignored, and instead Echo turned to you with a glare.
“You try anything, he dies.” She warned you, and she didn’t need to say who she was talking about, you knew it was Bellamy. You rolled your eyes, but agreed nonetheless. They tied your hands behind your back and started pushing you towards the exit.
“Hey, stop! Dont hurt her! Leave her alone!” Bellamy yelled after you, restraining against the chains holding him down.
“Bellamy, it’s okay.” You said, but it didn’t help, he kept yelling after you, a few more joining him.
“Echo, wait! Where are you taking her?!” He demanded, only to be met with a punch to his stomach.
“Bellamy!” You called, hating watching him double over in pain. They dragged you out of the room, the voices of Bellamy, Clarke and Octavia echoing through the hall. Before you could guess where they were taking you a bag was pulled over your head. You tried to make sense of where you were by the turns and the doors opening, but it was no use.
“Nokeryon, as requested.” You heard Echo way before the bag was lifted, making you squint your eyes as you took in the room. In front of you was Roan, sitting on the throne with the crown of Azgeda decorating his head.
“Good. Now get out.” He said, his voice low and deep.
Echo sighed before leaving the room, the guards following behind her. The doors closed, leaving you and Roan alone. He stood up and walked over to you, examining your face before gripping your shoulders, turning you around. Confusion rose on your face but died down as you felt his hands untying yours. You took the liberty to turn back around to face him.
“Are you stupid or is this just an act?” He asked you before you could say anything.
“What?”
“Siding with Skaikru? Really?” He said, doubting your choices. “And I thought bounty hunters were supposed to be smart. Survival speaking.”
“I’m still alive, aren’t I?” You challenged, rising your eyebrows at him.
“Not for long.” He said with a shake of his head. “However if you accept my offer, you might survive.”
“I’ll have to hear your offer before accepting anything.” You replied, not more intrigued with the conversation.
“I want to offer you a place in Azgeda, right beside me. I’ll fight for you to live, as long as you will do the same for my people.”
To say you were shocked would be an understatement. The last thing you thought he’d ask you was to join him. You couldn’t deny the fact that it has been your dream when you were younger, always wanting a place to belong to. But as you got older you realized how easier it was to live by your own, to survive by your own. But now, after everything that has happened and with Praimfaya coming your way, you started doubting your old fashioned way to live. That’s why his offer didn’t sound absurd, it tempting even. However, if you accepted it, you’d be siding with the enemy, against the people who helped you, against Bellamy.
“Well? What do you say?”
You sucked a breath in, not knowing what to say to him. So instead of answering his question you posed him another.
“If I join you, what will there be of Skaikru?”
He smirked. “Why do you care? As far as I know you, you don’t care about the survival of others, just yours.”
“Are you going to kill Wanheda and take her power? Use her death to control your clan and others? That’s your plan?” You asked him, diverting him to on other subject. He was right, three months ago you didn’t give a fuck about whether Skaikru, or anyone for that matter, will live or die. Now, you weren’t so sure about that.
“Yes. That way my people will learn to respect me as their king, and not as a traitor.” He explained to you.
“Right, so it’s respect you want, not control.”
“You could say that, yes.”
His attention was suddenly drawn to the yelling outside, ‘jus drein jus daun’ was chanted by the angry people. He walked towards the small window, you following behind him.
“If by control you mean controlling these people, then yes, I do seek control.” He said, making you turn your head to him.
“What if I told you that killing Wanheda wasn’t the only, or best way, to get achieve that.”
His gaze met yours and you resisted the urge to shrink back. His gaze was threatening, powerful, and with the part of you that was some what afraid, the other was attracted.
“What are you talking about?”
“The Flame.” Your words made his eyes widen a little bit. “The clans will follow whoever has the Flame, right? If that person is you, you can consider yourself respected and in control.”
“I thought it was lost, gone.”
“Nope. Clarke has it, and if giving it to you means peace and Skaikru alive, I’m pretty sure she’ll be able to give it up.” You leaned your back against the wall, crossing your arms as you kept your eyes on Roan. “What do you say?”
“If I agree, you join us. That’s my deal.” He insisted, making you shift in your place, uncomfortable with even considering his offer.
“Why do you want me by your side, anyway? From your impression you don’t really like bounty hunters, neither does Echo.”
“First of all, Echo doesn’t have an opinion in this matter. And to your question, you’re much more useful than you think.” He stepped closer to you, lowering his voice. “I saw you fighting my guards after you and the doctor saved my life, I could use your skills. You’re a good fighter, and a good training partner.”
“I’m honored, I really am, but no. Azgeda is now an enemy to not only Skaikru, but to Trikru as well. If I side with you, I’m betraying them.”
“But you’re not Trikru, and they do not consider you as their own. I will. If you agree to this, I will be by your side, keep you protected and make sure you survive.”
You shook your head, deciding to reveal to him the truth. He didn’t know about Praimfaya, thus he didn’t take it under consideration when he talked about the future.
“There’s something else you don’t know about, something that will determine our futures.”
“And what’s that?” He asked, turning his body fully to face you.
“A wave of radiation - Praimfaya. It’ll be here in 6 months and there is no way to stop it.”
“Our ancestors survived Praimfaya, and so will we. This doesn’t change nothing.”
“This time it’s different, I don’t know all the scientific details but it’s not like what we know it for. I’m talking about a wave of death, killing and destroying everything within its path. These people out there-“ you pointed to the window, “-have no idea what is coming and they need a leader, a strong one, to help them. That’s you, Roan. With the Flame you’ll have the power and the people’s respect. It’s the perfect plan.”
He didn’t say anything, just stared at you. You could almost see the wheels turning in his head. He knew you were right, and you just hoped his ego or whatnot won’t get in his way of making the right choice.
“You’re right. But you still haven’t answered my question.”
You rolled your eyes. “For fuck‘s sake, Roan. I already told you, I can’t accept it.”
He opened his mouth to argue but you quickly shut him up. “I know, Trikru will not accept me as their own but you have to realize that you are not the good guy here. I side with you, I side with the enemy, I become the enemy.”
He chuckled, now leaning his side on the wall, his hand on his hip. “Don’t exaggerate, once I take the Flame and take control of the situation Azgeda will no longer be their enemy of their problem, Praimfaya will.”
“Let’s go on with the plan and we’ll see what happens afterwards. Alright?”
He smiled, leaning closer to you. “Whatever you say. Now, let’s get your friend Clarke to agree to give the Flame.”
“After you. These days it seems like I’m not allowed to walk by myself anymore.”
He chuckled and placed his hand on your back, gently pushing you to walk before him. Outside the room, was Echo and the guards who led you into the room. Roan told them to take you back to the cell with no restraints and to let you talk to Clarke. Echo was clearly displeased with his choice but did as he asked nonetheless. You felt slightly uncomfortable with the glares sent your way as they led you back to the cell, but you ignored it, instead trying to think about what you were going to say to Clarke.
The door opened, allowing you to walk into the cell. Your eyes immediately found Bellamy’s. He was sitting on the floor, head in his hands.
“Y/N.” He said once he saw you. “Are you okay? Did they hurt you?”
“I’m okay, Bell, they didn’t do anything.” And as much as you wanted to jump into his arms, you had a mission first. “I’m here for you.” You said and turned to Clarke. “Roan wants to kill you, take your power and with that win the respect of his people. Obviously, that’s not going to happen. I told him about Praimfaya and he agreed to spare you, and Skaikru, but only if you give up the Flame. Which he will use to make the people out there listen and stop a war waiting to happen.”
Her face became more and more uneasy with every words you spoke. “It’s the only way, Clarke. Trust me, I’ve tried.
She stood up, nodding her head slowly. “Okay.”
“Good.” You stepped closer to her and reach out your hand. “I’ll give it him and soon you will all be released.”
“No.” She shook her head, making you scrunch your face in confusion. “I want to give it to him. Take me to him, or no deal.”
“Alright. Let’s go.”
As much as you wanted to be angry at Clarke for complicating this more than needed, you knew how tough this has been on her. The Flame was the only thing she had to remember Lexa by. And while you didn’t really know the woman that much, you knew Clarke held s special place for her in her heart.
______
“I know you’ve all come here for an execution, but no one else will die here today.”
You stood in the crowd as Roan spoke, your eyes trained on him. Your hand was holding Bellamy’s, feeling his tight grip grounded you, made you feel safe.
“The city of light has fallen, and there is no commander left to rule us. Until another nightblood ascends, I - king Roan of Azgeda, eldest son of Nia, grandson of Theo - am caretaker of the throne and keeper of the Flame.” He lifted his hands, the tiny chip held between his fingers.
“Yu are a haihefa nou a priest.” You’re a king not a priest! A woman yelled from the crowd. “Dison laik bandragen.” This is blasphemy.
“Nou bandragen.” Not blasphemy. Roan corrected her. “Order. Until another ascends, Azgeda honors and will defend the coalition of the last true Commander - Lexa kom Trirkru, including the 13th clan.”
With the last of his words, people began murmuring, clearly doubting his choice, but he continued nonetheless.
“Let it be known that an attack against Skaikru is an attack against us all.”
His eyes met yours, and his head gave the slightest of nods, you returned it, the corner of your lips tugging upwards. All was good now, the tough part was over.
_________
“I won’t be accepting your offer, that’s not why I’m here.” You explained as you entered the room.
Roan sighed and walked to you. “So what is this about?”
“I won’t join you, but I will stay here. To help you, just for a week.” You said, feeling a little lighter as his gaze softened a little bit.
“Help me? With what?”
“You said it yourself that you need my help, that I’m a good fighter. I’ll be by your side, I’ll be your training partner. You decide.” You shrugged. Truth was, you didn’t really want to stay here, you wanted to go back with Bellamy and the others to Arkadia. But you were afraid, afraid that you’ll just be an outsider, that you won’t belong. You remembered how Abby looked at you, like you were a heartless monster. That’s what they all though of you. So you decided to stay in Polis, even if it was only for a week.
“Alright then. Welcome.” He said with a small smile. “Training starts tomorrow, I need to get strong, I can’t afford this injury to slow me down.”
“Your wish is my command then.”
“Go, say goodbye. I’ll tell the guards to take you to your room when you’re back.”
You offered him a smile. “Thank you.”
Your breathing was uneven as you made your way towards Bellamy, knowing he won’t be happy with your choice. You left him once after the battle at Mount Weather, you didn’t want to leave him again. But it was just one week, you reminded yourself, not three whole months.
“Y/N.” He said once he saw you, enveloping you in a tight hug. “Where were you? Is everything okay?”
“Yes.” You said and slightly pulled away, not ready to leave his arms just yet. “I was actually talking with Roan.” You looked past his shoulder at Clarke, Octavia, Abby and Kane who were looking at you with curiosity. You moved your gaze back to Bellamy before speaking. “I’m staying here, I’m not coming back with you.”
“What?” Bellamy was the first one to react. “No, no way. I told you there will be a place for you in Arkadia. You can come stay, it’s safe.”
“It’s not about that.” You shook your head. “Roan needs my help and I accepted. It’s just for a week, Bellamy. I’ll be back before you know it.”
“What does he need from you?” He asked, still not at ease with your plan.
“Training, mostly, I presume. He didn’t really say exactly what.” You placed your hands on his cheeks. “It’s okay, Bellamy, it’s just for a week. You need time to figure out how to deal with the radiation coming our way, I can’t really help you with that. I’ll stay here, keep the peace.”
His jaw clenched, eyes hardened at the thought of you staying back. “One week, and you’re back. I’m not losing you again.”
“You never did.” You whispered before placing your lips on his. He grabbed you by your waist, pulling you closer to him as he kissed you. You hated goodbyes, and the fact that it’s Bellamy you’re saying bye to made it worse.
“I love you.” He said after he pulled away.
“I love you, too.”
You broke apart, Clarke wrapping her arms around you. “Be careful and good luck. Thank you for your help.”
“You be safe, too. You got this.” You said back. You looked over at Octavia, not expecting a reaction from her.
“I’m staying here with Indra, so you’ll have company.” Was all she said.
You nodded offering her a tight lipped smile.
“Abby and I are staying here as well so anything you need you can come to us.” Kane said with a kind smile, which you returned.
“Thank you.”
After saying goodbye to everyone you turned back to the tower, a new feeling of excitement tingling your body.

the monster in my head
A/N: VILLAIN BELLAMY, TASTY. sooo this bellarke ficlet was born because i thought, what if bellamy went all void stiles on us in the final season after being captured?? like obviously, not gonna happen but it’s such a juicy concept.
disclaimer: my knowledge of season 5-7 is so sparse it is laughable. i just wanted to write a mind-wiped!bellamy drabble basically, so please excuse my lack of detail in literally every other aspect of this. also all the typos, i wrote this really fast lol.
Clarke wakes up tied to a chair and her first thought is, I can’t believe he tricked me.
Except he’d gotten her guard down. One second she’d been walking away from the others, looking for something to eat on this godforsaken planet they’d landed on, and the next-- he’d appeared.
Right in front of her. The sight of him disarmed her so much, she’d only been halfway through saying his name when he hit her, and she’d been knocked out.
Now here he is again.
Bellamy, sitting in a chair opposite to her-- but he’s not the Bellamy she knows.
Except he is, she realizes with a start. He’s the Bellamy of before Praimfaya, his hair curly and unruly over his forehead, his jaw clean-shaven. His familiar, handsome face would settle her if it weren’t for the cold look in his eye.
“Bellamy?” she says slowly, drowsily. Am I talking to Bellamy?
“Clarke,” he says pleasantly, and she realizing he’s twiddling a pocket knife in his fingers. Even the way he says her name is cold, and she didn’t realize how warmly he used to say it until just right now.
The way he tilts his head to consider her is entirely foreign. Not in the way of people who were controlled by ALIE, where their movements were robotic, un-humanlike. No, this comes entirely from him, just... a different version of him. He’s wearing different clothes, too. All black. Black jacket too. His clothes and his skin and his hair are all clean, and pristine, like he’s been well cared for while he was gone.
Clarke, at this point, has grown used to the impossible happening. She just accepts in this moment that this Bellamy is not her Bellamy, and focuses on other things, like getting out of here and living another day to find out what happened to him.
They’re in a tiny, one-room cabin. Tools all over the place. Her hands are tied behind her. She stretches her wrists experimentally. No slack at all.
“What are you doing?” she asks Bellamy, who’s just been watching her take in her surroundings.
“We’ve been looking for you,” he says, still fiddling with his knife.
“Who’s been looking for me?” No answer. “Bellamy, what-- what’s going on? I haven’t seen you in--”
“Don’t you ever get tired of talking?” Bellamy says, bored. He tilts his head suddenly and stands. “Time to go. They’re waiting for us.”
“What do you mean it’s time to--” she cuts herself off as he strides towards her. She stays entirely still as he pulls the gun from his thigh holster and presses it to her temple.
“You try anything, and we see what your brain looks like decorating the wall.”
His voice is casual. Her heart beats faster.
“That’s a lie,” she guesses. “You’re bringing me to someone, and they want me alive. They wouldn’t be happy if you killed me.”
He laughs, lowly. "You willing to bet your life on that?”
He leans over her and cuts her free from the chair.
“Walk to the door,” he says against her ear, and she obediently stands.
“Do you remember me?” she asks, as he nudges her forward with the gun to her temple. He’s still got that knife in his other hand. It would be perfect to cut through the ropes around her wrists. “Do you know who I am?”
“I know who you are, Clarke. I just don’t care.” He presses the gun against her temple harder.
“Someone’s controlling you,” she guesses. From his silence, she guesses she’s right. “Are you still Bellamy?”
“That’s right.”
“Bellamy would never do this. He wouldn’t threaten to blow my brains out.”
“Well, I just did,” Bellamy replies. “So I guess you don’t know me very well.”
They keep walking forward. Towards the open door, revealing a grassy clearing beyond. “That’s okay,” Clarke replies. “I know it’s not you I’m talking to right now. I forgive you, Bellamy. If you need forgiveness, I’ll give that to you.”
He falters. That’s when Clarke makes her move.
She ducks from under his gun. He fires-- he fires!-- into the empty space where her head was. She tackles him around the middle, making them both tumble into the ground.
Bellamy’s caught off guard-- his movements slow, clumsy for a second, and she presses her advantage. She’s on top of him. He’s still got a tight grip on his knife, and she wraps her wrists around it, tearing through the rope binding her hands together with one strong pull.
He seems to wake up from whatever confusion he was in when she scrambles off him, his knife in her hand. She’s only made it two steps before he grabs her ankle and tries to yank her down again. Before she can fall, she grabs onto the chair he’d been sitting on for leverage. It crashes down with them.
Bellamy tries to pull her towards him. She grabs the chair leg and swings it over-- the chair is surprisingly light--bashing whatever part of his body she can reach behind him.
He grunts and releases her. She staggers up and sprints out of the cabin.
She’s in the middle of a clearing, in a forest she doesn’t recognize, with a sky up above that she doesn’t recognize either. She has no fucking clue where she is.
Right down to what planet she is on.
“Not so fast, Clarke...”
His voice is a sing-song from behind her. She whips her head around, and there he is, wiping blood from his face, but not looking angry at all. He’s walking towards her leisurely, and tucking the gun back into his thigh holster. He actually looks on the verge of a smile. Like he’s enjoying this.
“What now, princess? Where you gonna go?” he says softly, and the words are familiar and horrible in their new context. A chill races up her spine. She turns back around and sprints into the forest.
She’s running blindly for a few seconds, completely terrified out of her mind. She trips over a root, and then she’s tumbling down a steep bank, sand spraying around her as she falls. Pain explodes through her shoulder, and then the back of her head, and her back, and she just keeps falling and falling, and she doesn’t know which way is up or down, just that everything hurts.
She finally gets to the bottom of the hill, rolling into freezing cold water. She’s fallen into a stream. It takes her several moments to gather herself, and in that time she distantly hears footsteps coming down the bank. No. No.
Gasping, she rolls off her back, onto her hands and knees. Looks up only to see a hand coming down at her.
Bellamy yanks at her hair. Hard. She cries out, and he kneels beside her, prying the knife from her hands and tossing it far down the stream.
“You tried to shoot me in the head,” she gasps, unable to grasp that concept. It just makes no sense. The people he’s bringing her to must want her alive. “The people in control of you-- they wouldn’t have wanted me dead-- so why--”
He dunks her head underwater. She fights, struggles against him, throws her elbows, but he’s firm. He pulls her out after just a second. She’s gasping for air, wet hair stuck to her cheeks, the cold drenching her shirt and making her shiver. He leans in close, his nose brushing against the shell of her ear.
“The thing the people in control of me don’t know,” he says softly, “is that they don’t have very good control of me at all.”
She turns her head to stare at him, the dark eyes she can see her own terrified reflection in, his freckled cheekbones she knows so well, the curls hanging over his eyes. If it weren’t for the things he was doing, the things he was saying, she would say he looks in this moment exactly like the Bellamy who stood beside her and ordered her to write her name down on a list.
Except right now there is a monster lurking under his skin, and she’s starting to think the people who unleashed it didn’t know what they were doing.
“What did they do to you, Bellamy?” she asks, her voice tender, and his grip on her hair loosens slightly. “What did they do to make you like this?”
But then he gets a better grip, and dunks her back in the water again.
He keeps her there for so long her lungs scream for air. She makes herself go limp, but right when she does, he pulls her out again, and easily blocks her attempts to hit him. Backhands her instead, stunning her with pain.
He knows her game. He knows her too damn well for playing dead to work.
Clarke gulps breath into her lungs. She can’t understand what happened to him to make him like this. She only knows it must have been horrible, worse than Mount Weather, worse than anything she could imagine. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to stop them from hurting you,” she says, again as soft as butter, and his eyes narrow. He dunks her back in.
When he pulls her back out, she manages to gasp, “I will kill the people who did this to you,” and he dunks her back in again. This time he holds her under for so long she actually blacks out for a second.
She comes to a moment later, leaning against his shoulder. He’s looking down at her with a storm in his eyes. She gazes up at him. He seems to be waiting for her to say something.
She says, “I’m going to do everything I can to bring you back--”
“Stop,” he says, and his voice sounds pained. “Just shut up. Shut up. Shut up.”
He lets go of her, and his hands sink into his own hair, his expression hard and enraged and emotions flickering over his face a mile a minute. Clarke manages to clamber back on her hands and knees, shakily. She reaches to touch him.
“Don’t touch me,” he snaps, shoving her away, and she lets him, but then she puts her hands back on his face, gently. She traces her fingers over his jaw, brushes her thumb against the corner of his lip.
She’s sure she doesn’t imagine when he leans into it.
Suddenly Bellamy laughs, and the sound is bitter and disbelieving.
“I am trying to kill you,” he informs her. His voice is hoarse, as if he’s the one who’s been held underwater.
She smiles, gently again. “I know.”
Because she gets it, suddenly. His motivation to end her life is not because he actually wants her dead. The monster inside him is trying to kill whatever’s left of Bellamy, by killing her.
But he still can’t do it, and that’s how she knows there’s hope. That’s how she knows Bellamy is somewhere in there, fighting, maybe even at this very moment.
Bellamy reaches for her throat then, as if he might strangle her, but then it comes up and he brushes her wet hair out of her eyes, tucks the strand behind her ear. Like he can’t help himself. Then his hand tightens on the back of her neck again. His eyes harden, expression becoming blank. The monster has taken over completely again.
She leans in and kisses him.
He freezes. Her mouth is numb from the freezing water, but his is warm, and soft, and for half a second, he kisses her back.
She doesn’t know if she’s kissing the monster, or Bellamy, or the monstrous part of Bellamy. She doesn’t give herself time to find out.
She reaches behind her for the biggest rock she can get her hands on in the stream, then swings it at his temple.
The thunking sound is horrible. He topples over on his side. The splash his body makes as he falls over in the stream is small, nearly inaudible over the loud rush of water.
She staggers to her feet, gets her hands under his arms and drags him out of the water. She deposits him in the mud and stares down at him. His head lolls to the side. His eyes are closed, his expression open and innocent. He might be sleeping, if it weren’t for the gash on his head, half-obscured by dark curls, where she hit him with the rock. He’s bleeding. She’ll have to clean it.
She runs her hand over her mouth, still breathing raggedly.
Bellamy. Bellamy. Bellamy.
She hefts him up from under his arms again and starts to drag him back up the bank, her heels slipping in the wet ground. But she’s determined. They’re not far from that cabin. She’ll tie him up in the same chair he had her in.
And then? She has no clue. There’s only one thing she knows.
She pauses to catch her breath, and leans in close to his ear to make a vow to him, a vow she has always made to him ever since they landed on Earth.
“I am not giving up on you.”

moodboard: @nakey-cats-take-bathsss
explicit | modern au | polyamory | smut
It was supposed to be anonymous. That was the only reason why Clarke had joined. Okay, not the only reason, but it was a big reason. As the daughter of tech tycoon Jake Griffin, it was hard to get laid without ending up in a fucking tabloid- or worse, without getting followed by her dad’s security team.
It was so difficult, that Clarke was still a virgin at the ripe age of twenty-one (okay, she knew it was young, but still). So, instead of spending her birthday doing shots and throwing up all over the back of an Uber, she was at this ridiculous penthouse party in a slinky blue dress that made her eyes pop, and a glittering white mask over her eyes. Because rich people just needed to be fucking weird.
19. I’D SWING WITH YOU FOR THE FENCES

"Bellarke doesn't make sense," they say. They say because Clarke hasn't done anything that resembles romantic gestures toward Bellamy.
Conceding to march to her possible death in exchange for Roan sparing Bellamy's life. Obstinately fighting against Bellamy's stubborn wishes to remain outside the Ark while Praimfaya burns to the world to ashes. Shattering her soul by choosing 100 people to live and writing his name on the list, because he must survive. She can't have it any other way. Relinquishing 50 of those spots to Azgeda when Bellamy is captured and threatened, and Roan calls her bluff. Desperation driving her to the extreme to ensure the survival of the human race, yet unable to kill Bellamy to keep the bunker closed and the grounders from possibly killing Skaikru. Leaving the guaranteed safety of the fort to stay by Bellamy's side on the brink of global cataclysm. The bittersweet yet soft head and heart exchange she prompted. The hesitation in her last remark before imploring him to hurry.
4x13 ends six years and seven days post-Praimfaya with Clarke radioing Bellamy on the Ring. An activity she performs daily for six years. In any six years of my adult life, my only daily consistencies have been limited to breathing, eating, and sleeping. This girl is devoted enough to send her equivalent of love letters into the emptiness of space for 2,199 days. Season 5 opens with her trying to survive by herself in an apocalyptic wasteland. She spends her journey narrating to him her unvarnished struggles during the most traumatic experience of her young life to date. Her despondency. Her loneliness. Her agony. Her desperation. Her small victories. Her discovered treasures. Her determination. Her doubt. Her guilt. Her defeat. Her morbid self-reflection. Her relief and contentment. Her happiness. Her admission of missing him. She shares all of it with only him. Only he is permitted to know her to this depth. Not any of her other people on the Ring. Not any of her people in the bunker, a group including her mother. Not a spiritual communion to the great, big love of her life Lxa, situated on her throne in the high heavens and waiting for her trophy wife, for Clarke to stay connected to her dearly departed. Isn't that the sort of behavior that might occur by a bereft widow?
After finding an oasis to rest and call home, even after discovering a companion to build a life with, she continues with her radio calls. It doesn't matter that he never received her communications. The importance of the gesture- the intimacy of sharing her life and thoughts with him while he was gone- remains the same. The magnitude of her devotion to him made clearer through the absence of a single responding utterance.
She lovingly tells Madi stories of Bellamy as her hero. Gazing warmly, hopefully up at the stars as if she longs for her vision to cut through an endless pitch-black sky and find dark curls and freckled constellations from thousands of miles away.
"Bellarke doesn't make sense," they say. They say because post-Praimfaya ended with an established B/E.
As Clarke looks up at the stars, questioning if she'll see Bellamy again, we transition to our first glimpse of Bellamy after six years, forlornly looking down on Earth to the very spot of green where he is unaware of who is yearning for him to return to her. Contrary to Clarke, who is covered in warm firelight when thinking of him, he is colored in cold, muted greys and blue, no speck of warm hue. (The rhyming scheme was unintentional, but hey, I'm going with it.) Behind him, his family is sparring, but he's distant from them. He's trapped within this tin can, his arms folded, his body taut, not facing the view on the other side of the glass, but still enraptured by the sight of his home below.
We see what changes to the characters and their dynamics have taken place until, at long last, we uproariously cheer as Bellamy & Co. find a way to return to Earth, the sole event we've been anticipating for eleven months, to the point we could feel it at our fingertips, jittery and tingly. Bellarke reunion!! He's going to know she's alive! Yes! Finally!! Break out the champagne! We're celebrating, dammit! It's going to be so damn emotional! Authors start crafting mental fanfics. People are bouncing off the walls like bright, errant fireworks, unable to sit still. I can't believe it's finally happening...what do you think it's going to be like? Will he run to her? Will he be stunned and speechless? Will they sob uncontrollably?!? They'll be clutching the life out of each other! Another Bellarke hug!! The very best hug!!! They're never going to let the other out of their sight again! He's going to meet Madi! Mom, dad, and adopted preteen make three!!! There's no way they're not getting together after this!! He just got her back after six years of thinking she was dead!! The reunion's not going to happen this episode, but maybe next week, when do you think? You mean we have to wait seven days before----
B e c h o.
We stood on the precipice of what we agonized and crawled through for eleven excruciating months, only for an anvil to drop, and our heads to be clubbed. Our bodies fell through the floor, descending lower and lower with immense haste, to take up residence in the seventh circle of hell.
Do you think the framing of these events wasn't intentional?
Do you think the powers that be behind the creation of that calamitous bombshell for our protagonist, intended for us to root for B/E?
By us, I'm not restricting the effect of the blow to Bellarke shippers. The entire audience, casual and fandom alike, shippers and non-shippers, was meant to await this reunion. We were all meant to feel devastated by this revelation.
If they didn't want to invoke in us feelings of support for B/E at their inception, how in the name of all things holy is a purported B/E endgame your conclusion?
"B/E doesn't make any sense," they say, "when last we saw them, she was his enemy. Nothing more, nothing less."
Do I think their pre-Praimfaya status as antagonists rendered it impossible for B/E to have a convincing love story or sexual relationship?
I think, if Jason were so inclined, we could have gotten flashback Ring rendezvous of secret trysts between Bellamy and a googly-eyed, blonde-wig-wearing broomstick designated Clarke 2.0. So no, I don't consider B/E a deviation inherently outside the realm of romantic possibility. Jason is an artist, and this show is his canvas. He can give life to almost any whim he'd like in his work of fiction. Not only that, but B/E is also hardly the first pairing in this series modeled by the enemies-to-lovers trope.
"Bellarke doesn't make sense, they'd say, "absent any concrete evidence alluding to a romantic relationship." "Seven years running, and not a trace of romantic love," they'd conclude.
Remind me, what was B/E's sublime prologue into coupling up again?
Furiously choking the life out of an enemy in a fit of rage two episodes before revealing her as his new girlfriend evidently can be considered by some an adequate precursor to a sensational romantic relationship. But endangering Earthkru's lives by risking the wrath of two societies in refusing to let Clarke die, pumping her heart for her to stay alive while begging her to fight so she can come back to him, cannot be.
Either this show is quite the oddity, or it’s fandom's periodic knee-jerk, ass-backwards, charming zeal at play.
The lack of rising development is all the more reason why B/E's grand unveiling demanded perfection. Instead, our first insight into their union is overshadowed by Clarke and the impending Bellarke reunion. B/E isn't central enough to the narrative to warrant focus that would put to rest any discord of illegitimacy. But you know which pair of the two is concentrated on for seven seasons now? Three guesses...
But don't despair. Fandom has decreed, by its own appraisal, the shorthand of kissing and sex has rectified the discrepancy of a complete absence of pertinent on-screen development.
"It's not ideal storytelling," they say, "to exclude B/E's development. But The 100 has historically been a plot-driven, fast-paced, contained drama. It has always evaded expanding on character dynamics to fans' satisfaction.”
The writers have done more to present Josephine and Gabriel as soulmates with less airtime than B/E ever had in total. They don't lack the skill or time to fortify B/E in anyone's mind as the central romance. Jason made a conscious choice not to. Why would he? Does he think the endgame love story of the show's deuteragonist doesn't merit attention to detail by the writing? Or does it seem more likely, it was never his intention for B/E to cross the finish line?
And, for a plot-driven, fast-paced, contained drama, they sure have an awful knack for finding the time to showcase Clarke's kicked puppy reactions to an embracing B/E. We've had three thus far. One for science, one for emphasis, and one to say, "Do you people get it now?"
"Bellarke doesn't make any sense," they say, "if they wanted each other, they'd have gotten together by now."
A long time ago, someone stated, "Lovers are supposed to do that you know and if they don’t do that it means their relationship isn’t romantic if sexual intercourse isn’t added."
And to that, I posed the question, "Where exactly is it written that "if a pairing is not made canon by season [insert arbitrarily chosen number here], it will never be made canon, period?" Was I just absent from fandom class that day and skipped to the lesson on slow-burn ships?" We are going into the final season, and I stand by this question today as I did then. Bellarke could refrain from physical expressions of love and candid confessions to season 17, and their journey could continue to exemplify a love story. Because the absence of either one doesn't preclude two people from falling in love. Nor does the inclusion of either one necessitate two people falling in love.
"Bellarke doesn't make any sense," they say. They say because Bellamy is her dearly beloved, but platonic, best friend.
Well, you've got me there. I'm stumped. How can it be possible for friendship and romantic love to behave as anything but mutually exclusive concepts? It's not as if friendship can be contorted to serve as a foundation for love.
 The cornerstones of strong friendships include trust, care, support, devotion, and many other features of a similar nature. Love- deep and genuine love, that is- involves frequent kissing and passionate, vigorous sex. The wilder the display, the stronger the pairing. The dozens of couples, love interests, and sexual liaisons before B/E who have kissed and had sex before dying must not have first consulted the manual for proper protocol.
And the inverse? Once two people fall in love, they cannot fall back to say, a familial connection. No, no, no. Such a regression would be the work of a tragic, reprehensible flaw in the cogs of the universe. Speak nothing of it.
"It doesn't make sense for B/E to break up," they say, "when B/E has stayed together for two seasons sans any indication Bellamy loves Clarke more than Echo, enough to want to leave his loving girlfriend."
How many times has Bellamy tried and failed to honor his commitment to Echo? How many weak attempts are met with a corresponding scene of Bellamy shifting his attention to the girl he tells himself to get over?
Echo leaves for Shallow Valley, his focus immediately turns onto persuading Clarke not to leave his side. He symbolically chooses Echo in the fireside scene by touching her sword. Yet, he looks at his girlfriend for the first time since their separation with the most aloof expression unsuitable for the occasion. No hope to be found anywhere. They share a brief reunion hug, no time for intimacy. He is reunited with Clarke and casts a nervous glance at Echo when bombarded with Clarke's appreciative gaze. Still no time for intimacy between B/E before a decade-long nap, but time can be carved out for a warm, flirty Bellarke reconciliation, complete with intensive heart eyes. No inspired, emotionally wrought, double sunlit embraces for B/E. If Bellamy is going to look out of a window at his future home, he'll either be by himself or snuggling Clarke into his side. There's no place for Echo in the lock of his arms anymore, only room for flanking him in the way loyal lieutenants tend to do. His girlfriend glances over at him as their exploratory team roughly plummets to new territory, and he does the same at Clarke. B/E reconnects lakeside, him asking for a swim with her and leaning into her arms at a campfire. He sits by her side on a swing set, amidst talk of moving their people into an abandoned village. And it's all well and good for B/E, right? They're presenting the front of a happy, unified couple.
Until...Clarke walks away behind his sight, and he leaves Echo's side to seek Clarke's missing presence where the flirting and warm gazes and near confessions are kicked into overdrive. He calls Echo to hear his latest discovery, then proceeds to ignore the hell out of her, communicating exclusively to his co-leader. He stares wistfully at Clarke dancing with her new flavor of the night, cannot stop doing so even while excoriating Echo for her stoicism, expressing his frustration at her inability to fulfill his emotional needs.
He recommits to Echo, as Clarke is kidnapped and her body is stolen, with nary a transition, suggesting we are meant to link the two incidents together. For all his resolve to face the future with Echo, he spends the whole of the next episode with a wary eye on Clarke, to the point that he is the first to realize Clarke is not herself. In the ensuing arc ranging from 6x05 to 6x11, approximately half of the season, what was B/E, again? Was that a thing concurrently happening with Bellamy's Operation: Save My Clarke? Because I seem to be able to recall only Bellarke goodness. Oh, my mistake, there was the consoling hug which, oddly enough, did nothing to soothe him. As evidenced by his choice to grieve alone. No girlfriend he wanted close by for comfort, knowing clear as day she couldn't provide it if she tried. Not with who he just lost.
B/E gets another brief reunion hug, the majority of which is spent with him peering at Clarke. The show saw that hug and raised us an Austenesque-quality counterpart that would do Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy proud.
"B/E endgame is the only sensible outcome," they say, "they love each other so much."
I don't contend they don't love each other. But we are shown two people determined but incapable of snuffing their deep-rooted feelings out of noble propriety, and most importantly, out of needless fear of unrequited love. And another two people who sought- and failed- to keep grasping the wisps of a gentle relationship slipping out of their hands since they left their comfortable space bubble. For anyone in this conundrum to be happy, the only natural course of action is for the latter to call it quits. The writing has been on the wall for too long.
Maybe a single Bellarke scene plucked out of the lineup can be interpreted on its own as platonic buddies being platonic buddies. But when all those individual moments are woven together, what forms is an ornate tapestry with a pattern so vivid, any inane rhetoric involving a hint of the word "platonic" is little more than ludicrous anti drivel transparently cooked up by those wishing a different endgame.
I hope you've enjoyed my second long-winded rant, @sometimesrosy, @jeanie205, @travllingbunny. One born of a teaching moment in which I learn for the umpteenth time it's best to steer clear of Twitter.

Chapter 39: ~Welcome To The Second Dawn Bunker~
For Chapter 38: ~3 Days Left~ click here
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Just a few more minutes." She muttered, already half sleeping against Roan again as she let his body warm hers.
~~~
After a few hours of sleep, the two made their ways downstairs again so Meave could see Kane and the group of Arkadia again.
Pushing open the two heavy doors, their eyes landed on Bellamy, Kane and Jaha discussing some importants matters with Clarke and her whole body relaxed when she saw that everyone was okay. She casually stepped inside to greet them, Bellamy being the first to notice her as he rushed to her as fast as lighting to hug her tightly. Kane also embraced her, but Jaha simply only nodded at her before going back to business with Clarke, she understood why though.
Meave was never close to Jaha and she understood that they still had to keep everything going if they wanted everyone to survive second Praimfaya so she understood his reaction.
"It's good to see you, Meave." Bellamy smiled widely as he shared a quick glare with Roan who was quietly standing behind her.
He had to admit it was good seeing familiar faces despite not being as close with them as his wife was.
"It's good to see you too, Bellamy. So, where is the rest? I thought more people from Arkadia would join us." Meave shrugged, looking at the pretty small group spread across the room. There was nobody except for the six of them and it made her wonder if something bad had happened back in Arkadia as they had made their way to Polis.
"The black rain struck us not that long ago and a small group lost their lives because of it." Jaha began, slowly walking their way after he finished his matters with Clarke. "Then we had a group that wanted to stay behind, having no will to live anymore." He watched his feet in silence and Meave's jaw dropped slightly. She couldn't believe it. Jasper was amongst them.... What if he stayed behind....? What if Monty had stayed behind too....?
She didn't want to lose anybody in general, not when they finally found a way for everyone to survive.
"The rest came with us free willingly, all now injected and healthy and already helping downstairs in the throne room." Kane continued and she sighed in relief. She had been quite scared that everyone had given up life and that the group before them was all that was left, but luckily the rest were already downstairs....
"Though.... Uh.... Who stayed behind?" Meave swallowed nervously, asking the only question that still bugged her.
"It isn't necessary to kn-...."
"Who. Stayed. Behind?!" She cut off Jaha who clearly wasn't planning on being honest with her immediately.
"Jasper Jordan, Riley, Hayes, Bree and 10 or more people who followed them into suicide." He mentioned softly and she could feel Roan coming closer to her, but all she did was shake her head before sharing a look with her king to kindly stop his actions.
"I'm fine. If Jasper and the rest wanted to be left behind.... then.... then we have to accept it. I have to accept it." She mumbled in between sharp breaths, clearly withholding herself from bursting into tears.
Oh how much she was going to miss him.
Sure, he had turned into a completely different person, but he was always going to be one of her best friends.
He would always be part of her three best friends back on the Ark, taking care of her and making sure Monty, Finn and her always found happiness in the darkest of times and received help whenever they needed it. The same as they would've done for him, but something she wasn't able to do this time....
It broke her heart to know she wasn't able to pull him back onto the right path, that she couldn't be there for Jasper when he needed her the most, and tears collected at the corner of her eyes when she started to really think about it.
Roan had politely asked Kane and Bellamy to leave them be for a moment and the second she heard the door close she buried her face into his chest. "I.... I shouldn't be crying. Jasper made his decision when he stayed behind and I should just deal with it." She sniffled and Roan gently rested his chin on the top of her head, his arms wrapping even tighter around her as she sobbed.
"That doesn't mean you can't mourn, love." He whispered.
A long moment of silence followed quickly, excluding her silent whimpers and deep breaths.
"AI HAIHEFA!!! AI HAIPLANA!!" [My King!! My Queen!!] A woman shouted from behind the closed doors and Meave raised her head to watch Roan. "We have 57 people to go and then we are able to discuss further matters of what is to come!" She proceeded from the other side of the doors, not willing to disturb them with her presence inside the room.
"We will be there!" Roan answered and put a stroke of his wife's hair behind her ear before wiping the tears from her soaked cheeks. "Take a deep breath, my angel."
~~~
After she had calmed down, they all gathered in the Embassy and were currently all surrounding an oval table in the middle of the hall, every ambassador sitting in their own seat to represent and speak for their clan.
Meave felt proud that she for once could see the peace in everyone's eyes, a kind of peace she had never seen amongst the clans before.... A kind of peace her brother, no, they all had wished for from the very beginning.... A kind of peace that they could finally sit at that table and discuss survival matters with one another without hatred and wrath being involved.
"There is an important matter why we have brought everyone here. We have to decide what will happen to our futures after Praimfaya: Where the new boundaries will be located if we continue as separate clans, how we will keep peace amongst the clans and who keeps track of all this. We can no longer work with commanders, science has taken that opportunity away from us, so now we have to find a new way to hold this world together."
"We could continue working with the council and stay separated clans. Every clan has already selected their ambassadors to represent them and therefore we already are responsible for our own people. I don't see a problem in staying this way." A female ambassador from Podakru suggested. "I propose to gather the council once a month to discuss further issues or concerns if there are any and so the idea is instead of answering to the Heda, we answer to our assembly." She finished and sat back down, the room filled with whispers now.
It wasn't certain if the hushed tones belonged to the people who went along with the idea or belonged to those who disagreed with the idea, but that soon changed when a blonde haired man originated from Ouskejon Kru pushed his chair back to stand up as well.
"I assent!" He acknowledged, starting a chain of ambassadors to stand up and follow his image as well and when the movement around the table stopped, it was visible that thankfully everyone had agreed with the proposition.
"Now that that's settled, we will proceed to talk about the second subject on the list; The borders."
"We keep them!"
"NO, we won't!" A tall, red haired man slammed his balled fists onto the table and Meave sat a little closer to Roan as her heart tried to calm down again. She wasn't the only one to act startled however as she spotted several more ambassadors leaning back a bit to 'unnoticeable' get away from the hostile man. "We absolutely don't keep them! I want them moved!"
"Sir, do you have a problem with explaining why you want to move your territory's borders?"
"Azgeda conquered my home town! If you all truly wish for peace then that can only happen when my domain is gifted back to me!" The man complained aggressively and Meave, having no clue what this was about, quickly looked at Roan who just gave her a small smile to indicate that he would deal with the man from Trishanakru.
"I will return your land. My mother had no right to take it from you and your people." Roan stated reasonably and the man backed down a bit, nodding at the king. "We will let the maps be redrawn."
"Anyone else who wanted to argue about their frontier?" Meave questioned and nobody else appeared to be having a problem with keeping their borders so they all moved on.
The last few conversations were about what to do with Polis and the way in which every leader would stay in touch which they came to an conclusion that Polis would stay the way it was and everyone would be welcome in Polis which meant that the tower was divided equally amongst the clans and so everyone could stay in touch. They also finished talking with the royal drafters to change the maps and after saying goodbye to everyone, Meave laid back in her chair and Roan sat beside her with his hand on her lower stomach.
"Meave?"
"Hm?" She looked up and lifted her hand to cherish his that was still on the small baby bump.
"After Praimfaya, I want us to travel to Azgeda if you are capable of doing so and you'd like to go. I would love to show you exactly what we rule over." He smiled, watching her eyes lit up and a warm smile appearing on her face.
She had never seen Azgeda before, but from the stories she had heard from her husband it was beautiful.
"I would love to." She giggled and Roan moved his hand to hold hers for a bit. "When will praimfaya take place again?"
"Two hours." He reminded her and carefully pulled her from her chair. But I'm not planning to sit here and wait for it to happen. We have no idea if the impact of it is safe for our child and I'd like to be certain of their survival." Roan gently pulled her close as he began to walk to the door, meave following him as he led the way.
"Where are we going then?" She tilted her head, curious.
"You'll see, ai haiplana." He smiled and she suddenly noticed how empty the streets were as they reached the courtyard. The sky was completely darkened to a dark shade of green mixed up with yellow too, it almost looked like it could've been evening, almost night, but it was actually late in the morning.
Sooner or later Praimfaya would wash over the city and even though everyone was safe in Polis almost everyone had locked themselves up in their cozy houses and that made the city look awfully abandoned.
It was as if the city was haunted.
"Roan, you're walking a little too fast." She panted softly, her legs not able to keep up.
"I'm sorry." He slowed down instantly and gently wrapped an arm around her waist to support her. "I'm just anxious with everything going on. I am certain all the injections will work, but I don't want to take any risks anymore." He explained while leading her and himself through a small opening that led to a beautiful temple. "Once that second nuclear wave hits us, an explosion will follow and I don't want you two to get hurt by the strength of it....
"Handsome, buildings are safe enough to take the hit. We already checked it." She kissed his hand.
"I know, but I am done taking risks and putting people I love in danger, especially if we are talking about my wife and child." He mumbled and stopped in front of two Skaikru guards who opened up a hatch.
"Welcome to the Second Dawn bunker."
The more I read about the Adam/Eve theory, the more it makes sense to me. Bellarke having a final like marper would be a happy ending, considering that this is the 100, after all. So maybe that looks like Captain America's ending in avengers? Bellarke saving humanity and living and finding happiness together on another planet but the cost of that would be to leave family behind (in a safe place-maybe on Earth?), It looks like the end of Captain A. when he returns the stones right after (1/2)
(2/2): saving the world and then chooses to stay behind to live with the love of his life (leaving the Avengers in a safe world). Considering the whole "together" thing they can live or die together, I refuse to accept anything else. P.S: saw your Pride and Prejudice post and when you talk abou how we may find out “through a much later scene where Clarke and Bellamy are old what happened to them” thats exactly what happened in avengers and how we found out the end of captain america.
+++
I had forgotten about the Captain America ending. But yeah, something like that.
That’s what I call the Marperly Ever After theory. It’s a happy ending, but bittersweet because they leave their family, including Madi and Octavia, behind, but leave them with a better world.
They “die” to their friends and family, but they live on outside of the the responsibility. They don’t have to bear it anymore, and so they get to choose love and happiness and peace... what they never got to have as they fought for family and survival and redemption for everyone else.
It’s a way to reward them for all their work that they did... never expecting reward.
I would make it a “cosmic adam and eve” if they did indeed send them back in time to place the anomaly stones and they end up being, like, the beginning of humanity or something like that. Or if their friends come back to earth, like 75 years later and find a thriving society there for them, waiting, because Clarke and Bellamy got sent by the anomaly to Earth and they created a new world for them to come home to, with a healed/healing earth and possibly some other survivors from praimfaya.
The Heart and the Head - Another proof why bellarke is the love center of the entire show, including season 5 and 6
Clarke was the head and Bellamy was the heart right until Praimfaya.
Then, their lost love and heartbreak on both sides made them shift. And not only that. The events that followed or happened before it settled it perfectly wrong.
Clarke told Bellamy to be the head as much as he is the heart, because on the ring it’s going to be the key. He’s the leader.
Clarke being left on Earth, finds no reason to be the head and not follow her heart. There was no leading. There was only a child that needed her care and love. Her heart.
Season 5 was meant to show the shifted, unstable heart/head morals. In season 5, where they all reunited, the reason bellarke’s relation went downhill is that Bellamy’s head telling him to save everyone overcame his heart and in the end, it hurt Madi, Clarke’s child. And Clarke leaving Bellamy to die was led by heart, overcoming the head and risking much more lives, including Bellamy’s, in order to save Madi. They took pain on both sides, almost losing everything they had in the result. Almost, because forgiveness is what saved them and their love for one another.
Season 5 was meant to show us what happens if the heart/head dynamic is lost, shifted and imbalanced. How strange and fatal Bellamy and Clarke’s relation is after years apart, changed surrounding and priorities. How dangerous can it be for them to use their wrong morals at the wrong time.
That’s why season 6 is the exact opposite, reversing it all.
The second they forgive each other, Clarke gets “killed” and locked up in her mind space. M i n d space. There is no one to take care for, no one to devote to, no one to give her heart to. There is only her head fighting her way out to life. The only thing that she does when she’s the head is taking care not only for her people. She thinks for everyone. And ultimately giving up her life (even tho it means leaving Madi, Bellamy and everyone else behind) is the logic of doing so. But this decision was supported by her heart, before pushed aside, then helping make the right choice.
She had to see Bellamy for herself, who said this is the smart move Clarke would’ve made. It took this memory, the fact that Bellamy said to use the head. Clarke’s head was the last thing - in her perspective - she used in order to save everyone. When her heart was drowning in pain of losing others. She chose to be the head first, but her heart made it certain. Ultimately because of Bellamy.
So what happened to Bellamy?
His head for leading his “family” also known as spacekru was so intense and narrowed to them, that in season 5 it led to making Madi the commander and in season 6 it led to Clarke’s death. From his point of view. His head failed, he took responsibility for so many people that he missed the murder of one of the most important people in his life. His soulmate. He felt it the second Josephine took over. When he finally found out, he woke up from s5 head/heart state of leading. His heart ached because that’s how he felt after Praimfaya. It took him back to being the heart.
His heart searched for any hope even though Clarke was “erased” and that leads to finding out she’s alive ONCE AGAIN and that fact becomes his motivation and makes him do anything to keep her alive for good. His heart saves Clarke at cost of leaving others on their own. When he left Sanctum with Josephine, that very moment he made that decision. Saving Clarke over staying with his people. He left Sanctum, leaving there his role of the only leader. But his head helped him do it all effectively, he’s not recklessly spontaneous, he had the plan. His head assured the plan, led by his heart.
“The heart and the head” line and the whole scene shows that fixed balance perfectly.
Bellamy’s heart aches when he’s about to lose Clarke for the THIRD time, after all he did and when he catches Gabriel’s words, his head is what comes through and forms a plan. He starts to actually execute the plan. His heart caught the words so meaningful to him, and his head came through to use it. Clarke’s advice. Clarke’s head.
Meanwhile Clarke gets hit by the axe, expecting to die at any moment and lacking any plan to survive, but Bellamy’s words get through her mind, and she uses them, filling her lost heart. Her heart, people she loves, give her the will to live, and so she fights, using the same axe and using her head, because that’s how she gets rid of Josephine once and for all. Her head was motivated by the heart. Bellamy’s voice.
Ramble/Rant- Clarke’s willing to die for Bellamy
So I recently saw a post that was talking about that Hope scene where she says “what makes otherwise sensible women willing to die for him [Bellamy]?” and this person is like “ironic considering she’s talking about two women who have never risked their lives for him but have in fact repeatedly endangered his life”. And I was like, “that’s not really fair; Octavia and Echo-” and then I see that it’s tagged anti clarke griffin. This person really thinks Clarke’s never been willing to die for Bellamy.
So obviously I’ve decided to comply a list of times Clarke has been willing to die (or at least risked her life) for Bellamy:
Season 1: that scene where Dax tries to kill Bellamy and Clarke intervenes to try to save Bellamy, Dax offers to let her live if she walks away- she doesn’t and  even after she is forced to hide behind the tree after her gun jams, she doesn’t run when Bellamy tackles Dax, she instead stays, trying to reload/fix her gun so that she can help Bellamy, and when Dax is choking Bellamy, Clarke runs to attack Dax.
Season 3: When Bellamy finds Clarke after Roan kidnapped her, Roan is about to kill Bellamy when Clarke begs Roan not to kill Bellamy, saying that she’ll do anything and she’ll stop fighting (trying to escape) if Roan doesn’t kill Bellamy. Clarke undoubtedly believes she being taken to be killed for her Wanheda power and yet she promises to stop trying to escape and go willingly to what she believes is her death- she’s willing to die to save Bellamy.
Season 4:
When Roan attacks Arkadia, wanting to take it over as shelter for Praimfaya, Clarke and Roan negotiate (after Roan and his army walk into a trap that means he’ll almost definitely lose the battle)- and neither is willing to back down, until Roan says that Bellamy (who is at this point Roan’s hostage) will die. And suddenly, Clarke is willing to give away half of the spots in Arkadia to Roan and his people. Which, like significantly decreases her chance of surviving Praimfaya, both on ‘number of Sky People who will survive’ and a ‘her people are likely going to be pissed at her and decide she shouldn’t be among their survivors’ level.
And then the obvious one, after realizing she won’t be able to connect the satellite and make it back to the rocket in time, she radios to Bellamy and the group, telling them to live her behind (to die) and literally climbs up a satellite tower as a fiery wave of radiation approaches her instead of seeking shelter or making any attempt to survive.
Season 5:
After Bellamy and Clarke murder Kara Cooper, Octavia arrests Clarke and sentences her to death (by shooting, as there currently aren’t criminals to do a gladiator fight) and Clarke takes the fall alone, staying silent about Bellamy’s role in it. Like, I don’t know about you but if I wasn’t willing to die for my murder accomplice, I’d rat him out and hope the dictator’s unwillingness to execute her brother means that I don’t get executed either. But Clarke is willing to die for Bellamy, so she stays quiet.
Madi convinces Clarke not to “make the same mistake Lexa did” aka don’t let Bellamy die. And so, Clarke sends her daughter off into battle (and I still think that “twelve year olds should be allowed to lead armies physically in battle” was a horrible message but I digress) and Clarke storms the Eligius ship by herself with her one gun (which very obviously put her life in danger).
And then when the valley is about to be bombed, and Clarke refuses to close the Eligius ship’s doors and leave without Bellamy, putting her life (and everyone else’s) at risk (like very serious risk, they were less than ten seconds out from the missile hitting the valley when they close the doors and we see the missile hit and the ship experience turbulence because of it).
Season 7:
The people from bardo- heavily armed with advanced technology- show up and say “we have your people, come with us” and Clarke says “they have our friends (Bellamy) of course I will go with these armed people from who knows where who want me and me specifically for who knows what reason”.
And then she picks a planet at random (that may or may not even be survivable- the anomaly stones were built by aliens (which I think she knows at this point) who might have entirely different specifications for survivability) and jumps through with absolutely zero preparation to save her friends (Bellamy).
And there could be more honestly, but I pretty sure this is enough to prove that Clarke has risked her life/been willing to die for Bellamy on multiple occasions, and it’s hilarious to say otherwise.
Day 37
100 Days of 100 Prompts
Clarke jerks up and looks around with wide eyes. Everything around her seems much larger than normal like it was made for someone twice her size and it’s that detail that sticks out to her first. Then she sees the actual objects and metal walls and knows she’s on the ark, or part of it. She doesn’t remember the rooms being so large though. As she stumbles out of bed she notices her feet and hands are smaller and her center of gravity is different. She stumbles on skinny legs and looks down at herself in horror. Her first thought, embarrassingly, is ‘My boobs are gone.’ Her next thought as she stares at her gangly limbs is, ‘What age am I?’ She rushes out of her room and over to her parents room. She slides the door open and runs up to her dad who looks younger than she ever remembers seeing him before. “Dad!” She shakes his shoulder and he grumbles, “Dad! Get up!” “What is it, pumpkin?” He mumbles as he sits up in bed. “How old am I right now? What year is it?” She’s actually in a full blown panic by the time he squints at her. Jake rubs his hand over his face and sighs before getting up and leading her into the living room. He sits on the couch and Clarke doesn’t exactly scramble up but it’s a close thing, she has to hop a bit for her butt to clear the cushion. “Now, what’s this all about? Did you have a bad dream?” “No. When I went to bed last night I was 24 years old and my daughter was sleeping next to me. When I woke up I looked like this and we are back on the Ark. I have no idea what’s going on but I need to get back to Madi. God!” She bursts out as another thought occurs to her, “Bellamy is going to panic when he finds out I’m gone. Dad, I have to get back to my family!” She’s breathing sharply and Jake is fully awake after her mini tirade. “Okay, calm down Clarke.” His mind races, “You said you were 24 when you went to bed last night. You have 24 years worth of memories or did you just dream of being older?” He’s trying to get her to see logically that this is just a product of a dream. “No, I have 24 years worth of memories. Ask me anything.” Clarke understands his process by now and knows he will need to work through his own steps to come to terms with this. The familiar cool logic of her dad does help to calm her though. “Okay, What do we do for your birthday next year?” “I don’t even know how old I am right now so I don’t know which birthday you’re asking about.” She rolls her eyes at him. He smiles and answers, “You’re six Clarke.” She nods and then thinks, “That was a really long time ago. I know Wells got sick for one of my early birthdays. You got me a sketchpad for my 8th birthday.” She tries to think back but huffs in exasperation, “It doesn’t matter, it’s not like you’ll know if I’m telling the truth or not.” She thinks about it for a minute and tries to think if there is anything she knows, that she shouldn’t at this age, that would prove her story. “Okay, look, I’m just gonna tell you what I remember happening.”
[She can tell him football scores from the games they watched when she was older. He can check on the tv/tablet She tells him about the oxygen problem and going to earth. That there are people there who survived and they can too but another apocalypse is coming. She tells him about Bellamy and his sister Octavia after SWEARING him to silence on the matter. Like, don’t you dare do anything to hurt them! She explains everything that happened on the ground and about the grounders. He takes it all in and looks stunned. He grabs a recorder and asks her to start over. She huffs out a sigh but does and he stops and asks her questions sometimes. She answers. She even speaks a couple phrases in Trig for him and explains the language. They take a break and Abby wakes up at some point and goes to work after being vaguely waved off by Jake. “So you believe me?” Clarke asks. Jake looks mildly disturbed, “There are too many details for this to be a random dream. I don’t know what I believe other than that I need to look into this. If any of this is true… “ He shakes his head and they start again. Maybe he asks if she knows where Bellamy lives, wants to verify Octavia. She tells him everything she knows about the Blakes but other than the fact that they’re from Factory station she has no idea where to find them. He looks it up and they head off. She again swears him to silence and makes him promise to not hurt them or scare them. Aurora answers the door and Bellamy is still there (maybe its the weekend and not a school day) Clarke grins and rushes up to hug Bellamy. Jake smiles nervously and asks if they can come in and talk to her about something. They step in and Aurora shuts the door behind her. There’s no couch or anything to sit on, it’s just one room. He apologizes and explains that his daughter had this crazy dream about Bellamy and Octavia and thinks they are going to go to Earth with her. Aurora is freaked out obviously. Jake can see it in her face and rushes to reassure her that they wont tell anyone, he justed wanted to verify his daughters story because it’s crazy but it could save lives. And maybe Bellamy or Octavia remembers too. Maybe O knocks on the floor and Bellamy jumps before giving his mom a nervous look. She nods and they open the hiding spot for O to crawl out.
She has a triumphant look on her face and rushes to hug Clarke. “I told him it was true, they didn’t believe me! Hi Clarke!” “Octavia! You remember it all too?” She’s stunned and excited. “Getting locked up in the skybox, Bel shooting that asshole to get on the drop ship and coming to earth with us, Lincoln.” The last bit is said so wistfully that Clarke hugs her. “What’s the last thing you remember? For me, it was six years after praimfaya and fucking McCreary dropped that hydrolythium bomb on Shallow Valley. We had just made it up to the Eligius ship and were figuring out what to do. I went to sleep with Madi in my arms and then woke up here.” “Same for me. I remember talking to Diyoza and getting left out of those discussions.” Her voice is slightly bitter which sounds odd on a five year old. Clarke’s face scrunches up, “O,” she hesitates. Octavia waves it off, “No, I get it. I was Blodreina. I don’t know if I can be redeemed from that.” Clarke’s features harden, “You did what you had to do to ensure the survival of your people.” She falters a moment and then adds, “in the bunker. Out of it… “ She gives a big sigh, “It’ll just take some time. You know all the things Bellamy and I have put each other through and we always forgive each other.” Octavia snorts, “That’s different. It’s you and Bellamy. The two of you would die for each other. In fact, you have.” She says pointedly, “You stayed behind during Praimfaya so that he could make it back to the ring and live. No matter how much shit you put each other through,” O shakes her head, “It was a shitty situation for everyone. You forgave him for putting the flame in your daughters head, Clarke. He’ll forgive you for leaving him in the fighting pits to save her.” She hesitates and then adds, “I am sorry by the way... for sending out that assassin.” Clarke bites her lip and then shakes her head, “You had to have known I would kill him. I don’t know why you tried honestly. But I get why you did it. We’ll be okay.”
Jake and Aurora are stunned. Bellamy is just looking back and forth between them as they talk. Bellamy would be 11 years old right now.
“Even if it was a really detailed dream, kids don’t talk like that. Hell, adults don’t talk like that. That’s not normal, right?” He asks as he looks to Aurora. She shakes her head vaguely with her mouth still hanging open.
“Um, sorry, dad. We’ll switch to trig for personal conversations so we don’t freak you out.” “I don’t think it would help much to hear my daughter speaking in another language she learned on the ground.” Clarke shrugged, “It might.”
So anyway, Bellamy starts asking questions now that he knows it’s real. He humored O before but he pays more attention now. Octavia has no problem answering any of them but Clarke reminds her he’s still just a kid and tells her to not freak him out too much. O snorts, “At least I don’t have to deal with you two making gooey eyes at each other at this age.” Clarke kicks her lightly
Later they go to bed and wake up when they are older. Do they time jump to like 10-11 years old and then 15-16 and so on or just all the way back to the future? If we do short jumps forward, we can see more gradually how things happen. Like maybe the first five years are spent trying to fix the oxygen. Then after that it’s about getting the exodus project up and running. Maybe Abby runs for chancellor and gets it instead of Jaha. Maybe with each jump the memories get fuzzier because the past is changing. So eventually they get the Ark fixed up to last a while longer and take the exodus down early. They will be dealing with a young Lexa as commander and Clarke or Jake in Clarke’s place will warn her about Costia’s capture by Queen Nia. So they have time to explain to Lexa, deal with the bunker situation, get night blood made, negotiate with the mountain men, and find another bunker to fix up like The Greenbrier in WV. Obviously the Blakes get on the Exodus. Maybe they hold a lottery for all stations to have a chance once they have the essential personnel selected. Clarke of course argues for certain people and warns against others. So they are on the ground and praimfaya is over and eden is crawling with scientists and farmers and builders. They use Monty’s algae idea to make the soil arable and start trying at the edges of eden and around the bunkers. Eligius comes down and gets accepted easily(ish) after someone snipes McCreary. Or Jake explains the situation to Diyoza and she does it herself. So they’ve got homes built and a farm and are spreading out and repopulating when Clarke and Octavia come to. They are shocked by the differences and their old memories start to fade and have that dream like quality to them. Octavia is married to Lincoln and they have a two year old daughter. Clarke is married to Bellamy and they have a kid or two as well. Everyone is happy. HEA
(Just to explain a bit of my thought process: They couldn’t just stay in their younger bodies with their older memories because then Clarke and Bellamy would never be equals at all. So they go back to being kids with no memories of what happened but Jake has his recording and Clarke was thorough. The two families remain close and of course Bellamy remembers what the girls talked about. Eventually when she is old enough, they do develop crushes on each other and try dating. The girls had everything explained to them when they were old enough but don’t really remember it, until later at least and by then it just seems like a bad dream.)
Random Thoughts #15
Well damn, that was a heavy episode. I kind of regret stumbling on tumblr before watching the episode because the ending was spoiled but at the same time it gave me time to brace myself for it, though my hearts still sore at the betrayal even if Bellamy thinks it’s like chipping Madi: done for the greater good.
But after seeing the promo for next week I’m also regretting not waiting until all the episodes aired so I could binge watch them BECAUSE GOD DAMN IT, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AND I WANT TO KNOW NOW!! Which is only the second time I’ve really felt that way all season, the first after last weeks episode when Clarke came back.
I can’t help but wonder at a few possibilities that might come up; the Conductor accused Bellamy of selfish obsessive love (though honestly I’d say that’s more his girlfriend than him, but not the point) and Bellamy past insecurities and self doubt/loathing makes him blind to the good he’s done (he convinced Madi to spare the prisoners and bring them with them on the Eligius, put the Flame in Madi to try and make a peace treaty with the Eligius which became moot after Murphy accidentally on purpose put McCreary in charge just to name 2)
But what I think may come up is that while the Conductor decided Bellamy’s love is selfish, they’re going to be probing Clarke’s mind against her will (there’s a word for that, and I can’t help but think that’s going to come up later when Bellamy becomes himself again) and they’re going to realise that Clarke loves selflessly to the point where she will sacrifice her life over and over again for others she barely knows. She has taken on the pain and loss, breaking herself over and over again to protect her people. Even Roan mentioned it in season 4 when he and Bellamy were taking the Hydrozene to Raven at Becca’s lab when Bellamy scoffed at Roan for only caring about his people and Roan pointed out that Bellamy was no different and everyone was looking out for themselves (PAUSE) except maybe Clarke.
Some predictions and questions I have after this week’s episode, and seeing the promos, for the fun of it and I want to get them out:
1.Becho will break-up. It’s something I’ve said since last season, but remember a week ago when Echo was going to genocide Bardo in Bellamy’s name? Remember in the promo Echo telling Bellamy he’s ‘lost himself?’ And how Bellamy is now a member of the cult that Echo tried to massacre? You really don’t think Cadogan’s going to give the body count to Bellamy when he asks why they’re locked up? I think we’ll get a scene where Bellamy ends their relationship with Echo maybe even telling her that it took the almost genocide to realise that he had wanted so badly that who she was on the Ring was who she really was, but her actions on Bardo showed she hadn’t really changed and that she still chose to make the same mistakes as before Praimfaya but now for Spacekru instead of Azgeda. Probably ending with Raven telling Echo that it was just the brainwashing and they’ll be back together when he’s better and other things of that nature which are coddling (like how both women are treated in the show. Sorry, couldn’t resist) and unlikely. I think it will probably come after the scene where Bellamy gives Cadogan the picture of his family and he burns it to prove his detachment from personal ties. Then again he’s a sociopath so…
2.Clarke will be tortured in the M-Cap machine. Yes, we all know this will happen because of the promo, and also in the promo is the fact that Clarke is fighting it; evidenced by the black blood streaming down each side of her face as the points dig into her skull. We also know Bellamy is there watching her being tortured and as far as we know doing nothing to stop it besides probably telling her to just co-operate. I know everyone is hoping this will be where Bellamy hears the radio calls, but I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen. Now hear me out: Clarke is in that chair because Cadogan wants all info he can get about the Flame and who might have more info about it, do you really think he’s just going to stand there with his newest recruit, who he believes is the key to controlling Clarke, while her memories of her love of Bellamy possibly work to undo his indoctrination? No, I think Cadogan will use Bellamy to establish a neural link and then when he realises the threat Clarke poses to keeping Bellamy as his disciple, he’ll send him away, possibly to talk to his other friends and try to ‘reason’ with them. I also think this would be a wonderful time to have Clarke relive Echo trying to kill her ‘to avenge Bellamy’ while Raven and Shaw watch and Madi orders her down using a Heda order (not that Cadogan will know that), because it will show a previous ‘kill to avenge Bellamy’ moment that will solidify Bellamy’s belief that his break-up with Echo was the right choice, but it would also work in Cadogan’s favour of ‘selfless love over selfish love’ and the danger of personal attachments, especially if he was looking for her more recent attempt to ‘avenge Bellamy’ and just happened to stumble upon it.He’s nothing if not an opportunist.
Once he’s gone the real torture will begin while Cadogan works to get the info by any means necessary. Cadogan is a narcissistic sociopath, do you really think he’ll take any risk that Clarke will reach Bellamy? I think they’ll damn near liquify her brain and then she’ll be kept apart from her people so they don’t cause a fuss. (possibly next episode) I think then Levitt will find out how hard they pushed Clarke and when he tells Octavia and she begs him to check on her, he finds Clarke in pretty rough shape. When he tells Octavia and brings Bellamy at her request, taking him away from his tour, she then confronts Bellamy who doesn’t believe her. Then Levitt shows him the footage of Clarke being tortured which she tried to resist by remembering the radio calls as a kind of block for anything outside that purview until they push too hard and she falls unconscious. Bellamy sees her being tortured and the calls and the cracks start to deepen and the indoctrination starts to fail. I know a lot of people want Bellamy there while she’s actually tortured, but I honestly don’t think that kind of betrayal of trust and basic human rights can be forgiven (by Clarke or Bellamy forgiving himself cause he’d despise himself if that did happen) and forgotten in 4-5 episodes to the degree it will need to for them to pass the test and end up together (unless they do a ‘6 years later’ where they’re married and 5 year old sibling for Madi with another on the way, but even then). I also think he’ll stay as a ‘faithful disciple’ even as he’s pulled by both sides internally until he has more info either way and will be there when point 5 below happens.
3.Tied to above: is it safe to hook Clarke up to that thing cause like time I checked, in canon it’s only been a week since Clarke was having seizures and almost died from sharing her brain for too long with Josephine which she was warned would lead to neural degradation then death, so can she actually survive the procedure?
4.I would be so happy if they have Jordan do a ‘Monty Green stopping Bellamy, Gaia and Indra in the fighting pits’ call-back by having Jordan burst in while they’re torturing Clarke with the news that Cadogan the narcissist translated the message wrong...which didn’t end so great for Becca when she presented another option other than leaving Earth. Though honestly, I don’t think it would happen next episode, maybe the one after or at least not expanded upon too much while they’re being watched.
5. I think it’s a possibility that when they do break Clarke, the info they get will be so vague that they’ll be flummoxed by it, but Bellamy will know what it means and his final decision will be made. It will just be Madi’s drawings of Clarke as ‘Wanheda’ and the Anomaly stone, my little Nightblood in Trig, and maybe one of two little things that will mean little to the Bardoans out of context and everything to Bellamy. He’d go straight to the others, maybe grabbing Levitt on the way. The other wont trust him because it’s such an about face but Bellamy will tell them about the torture (which Octavia didn’t tell them about to keep them from getting hurt trying to protect her) reminding them that Clarke was not the last person to have the Flame, that Madi was. Raven tentatively admits that Madi had been drawing pictures from her dreams that Gaia and Clarke might be from the Flame. They need to get to Madi first (and even the dead Flame might have some info) before Cadogan gets a chance to and stop Cadogan from torturing Madi like he’s done to Clarke. It’s eventually agreed that Bellamy will distract Cadogan while Levitt and Gabriel get Clarke and the others steal enough uniforms so they can get to Sanctum with their minds intact.
6.So Levitt stopped reading Octavia’s memories during the City of Light, right? And the Conductor was spouting that the Shephard message of ‘selfless love’? Who wants to bet that Cadogan gets more than a little threatened when he starts seeing not only Clarke in the City of Light itself (Imagine them starting with being tortured by her mind controlled mother, then ‘Her friends are her weakness. Start with Bellamy Blake.’, her mother being controlled to hang herself and Clarke not giving in  and Bellamy and Murphy bursting in and Clarke becoming a temporary Nightblood  and her conversations with Jasper, Becca and ALIE, even if we only see snippets or them mentioning in as an aside to rush it along, it would be heavy hitting under the circumstances), but also the lead-up and aftermath of Praimfaya, and more specifically Clarke’s place in it? The Shephard is revered for ‘saving his people from the fire’, well Bellamy shut the door and took his people to space to save them from Praimfaya while Clarke stayed behind ON THE SURFACE OF THE PLANET in order to align the dish manually to save them. The Shephard conquered the Mountain? Bellamy and Clarke defeated the Mountain who had been kidnapping the Grounder to either use as blood bags or turning them into mindless cannibals, and tortured teenagers to death for their bone marrow even after they said they’d donate it willingly. The Shephard went on a pilgrimage for 3 months with provisions to do the aforementioned conquering of the mountain? Clarke Mother F’ing Griffin survived the 2nd Apocalypse that burnt up 96% of the Earth’s surface and not only did she survive, she managed to find the 4% or at least a large chunk on it and lived there alone with only her adoptive daughter and broken radio for company for 6 YEARS! A lot of Cadogan’s mythos and legend is his own self-aggrandizing and twisting circumstances to fit his narrative of ‘I am the one true Prophet and Saviour who will lead us into the Last War for all Mankind’, Clarke’s is from her own actions, deeds and self-sacrifice.
Because while the Bardoans may are quick to spout out the credence of “the few for the many” how many of them have actually had to back that up? And both Bellamy and Clarke have, on multiple occasions. Remember Clarke and Bellamy’s little chat with Roan before the City of Light? About how ALIE didn’t give a damn what clan you were from, she wanted to get EVERYONE? Octavia knew about it, but Clarke was there when she and Bellamy convinced Roan. And also “Are you really willing to trust that guy with your life?” “No. But you’ll be covering us the entire time, and I trust you.” Not to mention him holding her hand when she got the Flame implanted and him trusting her when she said that taking ALIE’s chip was the right choice.
Huh, the end of season 3 had a heck of Bellarke, didn’t it 😉
7.I think when Cadogan finds out that Clarke has a mind-drive in her head he’s going to be veeery interested in cutting her neck open and becoming the Shephard for all eternity. Am I wrong?
8.I’m calling it now; the final test (given by a manifestation of Becca since she’s connected to all of them and the Anomaly stone) will be between Bellamy and Clarke, Cadogan and Sheidheda. It will be straight forward and/or easy to cheat until there is trick situation where their actions, not their words, show their true beliefs and goals. Maybe showing someone they loved in the past or present (Callie and Reese, whoever Sheidheda may care for, Clarke or Bellamy being trapped and there only being time to save the other or to ‘win’)
„So who wants to bring (Y/n) her portion algae?“, Monty asks and lifts up a mug with the rather disgusting green liquid. Everyone stares at the table. No one wants to volunteer. Bellamy sighs, stands up and takes the mug from Monty. He tries to smile but he knows what to expect.
The last time he saw the girl was three months ago. It was at night, at least everyone slept at that time, and both of them couldn‘t sleep. They met at a window, through which the earth could be seen, but before Bellamy could say anything to (Y/n), she already ran away.
Slowly, Bellamy walks through the corridors, heading to the room in which (Y/n) hides since they arrived on the ring. When he stands in front of her door sadness occupies his body and mind. Tears well up in his eyes. He misses (Y/n), his ex-girlfriend.
The fact is, they never broke up. After the eight arrived at the ring, (Y/n) stopped talking to him (and to the others too) and excluded herself from the group. Only on rare occasions she leaves her room and if talking is necessary, then only with Raven.
Two knocks announce Bellamys presence and (Y/n) looks up from her book, even though she already knew someone was coming because she heard their footsteps.
„(Y/n). It‘s me. Bellamy. I have your daily portion of algae juice. It still tastes like shit.“ For one moment Bellamy stops talking, thinking he heard movement inside (Y/n)s room but only a dull engine noise reaches his ears. „I hope you’re okay in there. If you ever want to return to the group, do it. Please. We wont ask you unnecessary question. You don‘t even need to talk. Just come back to us, please.“ With another sigh Bellamy puts the mug down in front of the closed door and then turns around to leave.
The girl behind the door listens for his steps and when she is sure Bellamy actually left, she opens the door and gets her portion algae. The empty bowl from yesterday gets placed on the ground.
What (Y/n) doesn‘t know is that Bellamy hides behind the next corner and watches her. A smile reaches his lips as he sees her. He notices her hair got longer and the clothes she is wearing. It‘s not really warm inside the ring but nevertheless (Y/n) is only wearing a thin tank top and sweatpants. She isn‘t even wearing shoes, almost as if she can‘t feel the cold; as if she can‘t feel anything.
When the door closes again Bellamy sighs once more and decides it‘s better to return to his friends. Everyone looks at him full of expectation but Bellamy can only shake his head. No, she wont return.
The next night, (Y/n) decides it‘s time for a walk. But the moment she leaves her room, the girl almost stumbles over something - a book. Kneeling down, (Y/n) picks it up. A small note sticks at it‘s cover.
Found this in one of the storage rooms. I hope you enjoy it and find some peace. I love you. Bellamy.
(Y/n) smiles and walks with the book in her hand through the corridors, looking for her window. The window where she last saw Bellamy. The window through which she can watch her home.
But (Y/n)s peace gets interrupted by a female laugh. Harper and Monty are coming closer which causes the girl to run to the opposite direction. Unfortunately, something worse awaits her there.
Bellamy and Echo are making out right in front of her and they don‘t even notice (Y/n), although she is panting heavily. Only when the book touches the ground with a dull sound, the curly haired man takes his lips and hands off Echo. His brown eyes meet (Y/n)s tearful ones. „(Y/n).“ His voice is a whisper and the broken girl starts running away again.
Without another thought, Bellamy follows her and before (Y/n) can reach her room, he grabs one of her hands, stopping her. They stare at each other for a second.
„(Y/n), please. You shouldn‘t have seen this. I‘m sorry.“ Bellamys voice is filled with sorrow and pain but that doesn‘t stop (Y/n)s tears running over her cheeks.
The girls mind is full of thoughts so she can‘t think straight. But after a deep breath one thought gets louder. He shouldn‘t be sorry. You should.
„No, it‘s okay. It‘s not like we‘re still a thing. You can do whatever the hell you want. You can kiss whoever you want. It‘s okay.“ (Y/n) focuses her sight on the floor, not wanting to see Bellamys agreeing nod.
For both of them it almost feels like the ring stops turning. A weird feeling fills their stomachs. (Y/n) awaits the mans next words, while Bellamy is fascinated by her sweet voice. At least he heard it the last time for what felt like an eternity.
„Wow. I missed your voice.“, Bellamy whispers and hesitantly lays two fingers under the girls chin, pushing her head upwards so that they can look in each other’s eyes again. His thumb caresses the soft skin of her chin.
Even though (Y/n) knows she should turn around and hide in her room, she can‘t take her eyes off Bellamy and his touch feels like he is reviving.
„Go back to Echo, Bellamy.“, the girl breathes with a shaking voice and closes her eyes because that‘s the only way she can part from Bellamy. He shouldn‘t be here with me. He should be with Echo who can love him the way he deserves.
„But I don‘t want her. I want you because I still love you, (Y/n).“ Bellamy takes one last step so that only centimetres distance him from the girl he truly loves. (Y/n) can feel his breath against her lips.
„Why would you kiss her then?“, she asks doubtful and opens her eyes reluctantly. Bellamys Brown eyes meet hers. Before he can give her an answer, Bellamy takes a deep breath.
„I‘m an idiot, (Y/n), I always was.“ Both of them laugh with tears in their eyes. „But I missed you so much. I saw you today while you were getting your algae and I thought you didn‘t need and want me anymore. So I did some stupid things and when Echo came to talk, my mind was telling me that maybe sleeping with her would relieve my pain, while my heart screamed at me to stop.“ Now it’s Bellamys turn to shed tears.I‘m sorry. „ It‘s my fault.“, he whispers sorrowful.
„No, it‘s mine. I excluded myself from the group, stopped talking to you and hid in my room all these years. The thing is I was so broken and sad after praimfaya, after losing Clarke and the others. I lost hope and was tired of fighting and surviving.“ (Y/n) finds the strength to take a step back and press herself against the wall behind her. Everything is my fault.
They look at each other for a moment before Bellamy walks to his lost love, hugging her with all his heart. „ It‘s okay. I‘m here. You don‘t need to fight anymore because I will protect you.“ Staying like this for as long as they need to, Bellamy and (Y/n) realise that they can only together defeat the horrors and pain of the past.
The march is as boring as you expect it to be.
At some point guns are passed around and you end up with a rifle slung over your shoulder, one more thing you're forced to carry in your trek through the desert. It reminds you of leaving Becca’s lab after Praimfaya and searching for the rover, a story that you ultimately end up telling Bellamy about. And once you get started with one story of your time on Earth without him, he’s eager to hear more. You tell him about going to Polis and then Arkadia, nearly dying until a rainstorm came through and gave you and Clarke water, the sandstorm that destroyed the rover. You tell him about the journey to get more panels, when you and Clarke almost ended it all, and he senses your hesitation when you get to that part, not sure if you should tell him everything. But he reaches out and grabs your hand, threading your fingers together, reminding you that you’re always safe and home with Bellamy. So you tell him just how bad things got, how close to the end you truly were, until the Universe sent a miracle from the sky, a bird that led you to Shallow Valley.
His favorite stories are the ones you tell him about Madi. How she nearly killed you and Clarke both when you first met her, how she taught you both how to fish, and the two of you taught her English. Learning to drive the rover, and fight, living as a mini family in the valley, waiting for the rest of your family to return. The only thing you don't tell him about are the radio calls. You aren't sure why, maybe it’s embarrassment, maybe you’re worried he’ll think it was obsessive, you don't know. All you know is that he must not have heard a single one, because he never mentions them, and you’re sure he would have if he had heard them. Instead, you skip over all of the calls and focus on the good moments instead, the happy things, not sure you’re quite ready enough to tell him just how desperately you missed him.
At some point near the end of the first day, Bellamy’s radio comes to life with the sound of Echo’s voice, broken up and speaking Trig. “Belomi, hola. Yu sen ai in?”
Bellamy, come in. Do you read me? You and Bellamy exchange a look, before he steps out of the marching group and off to the side, with you, Monty, and Harper right behind him. He lifts the radio and says, “Echo-”
You reach out and put your hand over his own, lowering the radio for a second. “Wait, Bellamy, do you normally speak Trig like this? Or is there a reason?”
As soon as you say it, you see a look pass over his face, letting you know they don't normally communicate in Trigedasleng. Your warning reminds all of you of something you need to be careful not to forget: the enemy can hear you every time you use this radio. Bellamy lifts the radio again and you pull your hand away, and this time he answers in Trigedasleng. “Hakom Trig? Chit’s skechi?”
Why are we speaking Trig? What's wrong? He releases the button and you all stare at the radio in tense silence, waiting for her answer. “Emo get in bilaik yo’s komba raun. Yo don drop nishiv of.”
They know you're coming. You've lost the element of surprise. The answer hits you like a blow to the gut, making you sick. Without the element of surprise, this war is a massacre. You can see that Harper and Monty don’t look as shocked as you and Bellamy do, and you realize now their Trig must be limited, so you translate, “They know we're coming.”
Their reaction is immediate, the same as yours, and then Monty looks at you and asks, “Clarke?”
The question hits you like a second blow, more powerful than the last. The thought hadn't even crossed your mind, but your twin was the only other person that knew about the eye in the sky that could have snitched. You shake your head, anger flaring within you at the danger she has just put all of you in, and you grind out, “It had to be.”
Echo must start to worry about the silence from your end of the radio because she comes back on to say, “Belomi, yo gaf bak yo klin. Osir don hon daun ‘mo mavrik, den yo’s klir, komonou. Ba yo nou na komba hir nowe.”
Bellamy, you have to go back. We have their pilot, so you're safe for now. But you can't come here. You and Bellamy watch each other as she speaks, both of you translating the words at the same time. It’s weird to see him so proficient in Trigedasleng considering the few words he knew before he went to space, but when you think about it, teaching Madi English made you fluent in Trig too. Both of you are so different from the people you left behind, past versions of you now burned away by Praimfaya, but somehow your comfort with Bellamy hasn't changed. There’s so many new things you have to learn about him now, but there’s no doubt in your mind that he has your heart and you have his.
Bellamy lifts the radio, shaking his head, though Echo can't see it. “Nou na kom au. Chilja: osir nou na bak op, en osir nou na hod op. Kom fai sintaim osir kamp ouder. Yo gada daun in na lok osir op klir trei. Pas daun, nou mori noumou.”
Not possible. It's a long story, but we can't go back and we can't stop. We're five days out. You have that long to find us a safe way in. After that we run out of rations. You can see the devastation on Bellamy’s face at this new dilemma you've all somehow found yourself in. Echo’s voice comes through the radio one last time before falling silent, “We're on it. Be safe, over and out.”
You can hear the worry in her voice, and a wave of anxiety washes over you, wondering if that worry is born from affection. But Bellamy being Bellamy, must sense your thoughts, and he reaches out and puts his hand on your cheek, whispering, “I love you, my radiant moon.”
“And I love you more than the stars.”
He smiles at you, one of those bright ones, and you realize this is the first time you’ve said those words to him since he came down to Earth. His smile is infectious, and it makes you smile, both of you temporarily forgetting your impending peril until Monty clears his throat and mutters, “The eye.”
The smiles drop from both of your faces, suddenly brought back to the present, and you shake your head. “Uh, right. We should probably tell Indra.”
“And Octavia.” You nod at Bellamy, agreeing, as he passes the radio to Monty. “Keep an ear out for our friends, in case they call again.”
“Will do.”
And with that, you all rejoin the army, and you and Bellamy march off in search of Indra. It doesn’t take long for you to find her, exactly where you last saw her: marching with Gaia and the other faithful. As soon as she sees the two of you approaching and catches the expression on your faces, she steps away from everyone, giving the three of you some privacy. You and Bellamy let her know what’s going on quickly, and a look of alarm passes over her face before she quickly regains her composure and nods towards the front of the army. “We need to inform Octavia.”
The three of you quicken your pace and make it to the front, only to be stopped by Miller. “What do you want?”
You can sense the anger radiating off of Indra and Bellamy in waves, so you walk slightly ahead of them, shifting Miller’s focus to you. “We need to talk to Octavia.”
He looks at you, skeptical, and you give him a pleading look. “It’s important, Miller. You know we wouldn't be here if it wasn't.”
You know he recognizes the truth in your statement, because he motions to a pair of guards walking nearby. “Disarm and follow me.”
You glance at Bellamy and he nods, agreeing to the terms, so you hand the guy to your right your rifle and knife before following Miller. Bellamy and Indra both follow you, and Miller announces your arrival to Octavia before stepping back slightly, but he sticks close enough to keep an eye on all of you. Indra is the first to speak, “You're marching us into a massacre.”
Octavia doesn't turn to look at any of you, her eyes firmly locked on the horizon ahead. “We'll see.”
“Echo radioed. The enemy knows you're coming.” She bristles slightly, and you can tell the news is affecting her even though she tries to pretend otherwise. “We don't need to worry about the missiles, but they're moving their weapons into position.”
Indra adds, “It's safe to assume that since there's only three realistic ways into the valley, that all three will be heavily defended.”
Bellamy, who has stayed silent as you and Indra do most of the talking, finally quips, “Echo's scouting now, looking for the best way in. But since we can't go back because you burned the farm, and since we can't stop because we'll starve, we thought we should let you know that you've killed your people.”
You look at Bellamy in shock, not expecting to hear the words come out of his mouth. You’re pissed at Octavia too, but you’re not eager to cross her again, your near death experience still too fresh in your memory. You grab his hand and whisper his name as a warning, “Bellamy.”
But he ignores you and snaps at his sister, “Enjoy your walk.”
He drops back and you glance at him and then to Indra, silently apologizing before you drop back and follow him. You get your weapons back and secure them to you before jogging after Bellamy and catching up to him near the back, but you can tell from the expression on his face that he doesn't want to talk. So instead, you slip your hand into his and stay by his side, allowing him his anger for now.
-
Eventually night falls and the marching stops, giving all of you a temporary reprieve from the long journey, at least until morning.
You and Bellamy set up your tent and then build a fire, and Monty and Harper set up their tent nearby before joining you around the warmth of the fire. All of you sit and eat your rations in silence before the other couple bids you both goodnight, leaving you and Bellamy alone. You finish up the last of your rations, just enough to keep you full for a few hours, before you pull out your Grounder knife, looking over the notches on the handle. By your count, it’s now missing a few, and as you start to wonder what you can use to add the next few lines, Bellamy’s hand reaches out to you, his own knife in his grip. You look up at him, taking the knife with a nod of thanks, unaware that anyone knows that you actually keep up with your knife kills. You might be embarrassed if it was anyone other than Bellamy, but judging by the look on his face, he seems to understand. You don’t count the kills like trophies, the way others might, you count the kills to remind you of what you’ve done. At this point, it’s hard to know how many people you’ve killed with guns, explosions, or levers that bring radiation. But this knife reminds you of the personal ones, the lives that you took in close proximity to another person, close enough to see the life drain from them. It’s a way to remind you of your humanity, a way to remind you that each of these kills affected you in some way, the same way the forgotten kills affect you, whether you realize it or not.
You add two tallies for the two Eligius prisoners you killed, before you pause and consider Cooper. You didn’t use this knife to kill her the way you usually would, but you did use it to cut a hole in her glove, sealing her fate before she even woke up. To you, it’s enough for you to know her death should stay on your mind. You shouldn't sweep it under the rug as another casualty of war. You need to remember how willing you were to kill her if it meant it could save everyone else, which ultimately didn’t happen. Cooper is dead and Wonkru is still marching on the valley, worms be damned.
As you add a third tally for Cooper, bringing your knife kills up to ten, you glance over at Bellamy, his gaze turned away from you. You take note of his clenched jaw and angry expression. “We have to talk about it eventually, Bellamy.”
“No, we don't.”
“Both of our sisters betrayed us.”
“Your sister betrayed us, probably to save Madi. And though it puts us in a shitty position, I can forgive her for that.” Bellamy turns to look at you, pulling in a deep breath. “My sister put us in the fighting pits together, after she forced you into making a deal that would save my life but end yours. She did that knowing how I feel about you.”
“Only after my sister ratted us out and left us there. If we’re keeping count, Clarke has betrayed us twice. And you’re right, both betrayals were probably to keep Madi safe, but at what expense to everyone else? To me? To you? I love Madi, she is my niece, my family, and I’d do anything to keep her safe. But sometimes Clarke’s decisions are reckless when it comes to Madi’s safety. She listens to the storm within her, just like you used to do, and doesn’t stop to consider every angle, every possibility. I’m not letting her off the hook that easy.”
Bellamy is quiet for a while, both of you thinking of your sister related drama, and when he finally speaks, his anger has cooled, though not completely, and his voice is soft. “I just can't forgive Octavia for nearly taking you from me. Not after I just got you back.”
The words melt you, your anger towards your sister forgotten as you reach out to comfort Bellamy. You pull him in for a kiss, understanding his fear of losing you, because you lived with it for six years when you lost him. When you pull away, you rest your foreheads together, keeping your eyes closed as you sit and enjoy the fact that you can even do this. Because Bellamy is back, and he loves you, and you’re alive, despite Octavia’s best efforts. You whisper, “You’re gonna have a hard time getting rid of me now. I don’t want to let you out of my sight, I’m so afraid of losing you again.”
He pulls away so he can look at you, his expression sad. “I have the same fear. It was so hard being on the Ring without you. It felt like a ghost was hanging around with me at every moment. I was searching for you everywhere, always disappointed when you weren’t there.”
You feel tears well up in your eyes, and you kiss him again, hoping it helps. This time when you pull away, he wraps you up into his arms and turns his face to the sky. You follow his gaze, both of you tracing constellations, and for the first time in six years, he asks, “Tell me about the stars?”
You look at him, feeling a rush of affection as you do, your voice cracking with emotion when you whisper back, “Of course.”
-
The second day of marching is just as awful as the first, though it’s now punctuated with an air of anxiety as you all march one day closer to your massacre.
The second night, all of you retire early, too tired to sit around and talk, but you wake up a few hours later, wide awake for some reason. You glance over at Bellamy, smiling down at his sleeping form, so peaceful as the worries of the world don't reach him in his dreams. Not wanting to disturb him, you quietly crawl out of the tent, taking the radio with you, just in case someone calls.
As you sit outside and look at the stars, you nearly jump out of your skin when the radio comes to life. “Belomi, hola.”
Bellamy, come in. You pick up the radio and answer, “Nou Belomi, en's ai. Wanlida.”
Not Bellamy, it’s me. Wanlida. You add your Grounder nickname at the end, not sure if she recognizes your voice. She immediately answers, “Osir don strat.”
We have a plan. You smile at the radio in your hand, feeling a rush of gratitude to your friends on the other side. “Tel ai op.”
Tell me. Echo immediately relays the plan to you in Trigedasleng, and at times, you start to think about how weird it is to be carrying on a conversation with your boyfriend’s ex. And though you get flashes of jealousy when you think about them together, you start to marvel at how talking to her now isn't that bad. Though maybe it’s because you have something to talk about, and it has nothing to do with Bellamy. Still, as soon as you get the plan from Echo, you both exchange goodbyes and you run back to your tent to tell your boyfriend the good news. As soon as he knows, you both go to Indra next, as usual, and tell her the plan. Once she knows, you look at Bellamy, both of you aware of what you have to do next, and he nods, looking reluctant.
You both walk to Octavia’s tent, and the closer you get, the louder her voice grows. You can tell she’s having a strategy meeting with her advisors, one that does not include an encouraging plan. “We're gonna take heavy fire, but as long as we stay together, we can still do this. Does everybody understand?”
You and Bellamy are both stopped at the door by the guards, and Bellamy demands, “We need to see her now.”
Octavia’s voice comes from inside the tent, granting you both permission. “Let them in!”
As soon as you step inside, you scan the room, looking at the advisors, before your eyes fall to the map on the table in front of Octavia. “You don't need that.”
“The spy found us a way in?”
“Yes.” Bellamy turns to look at the advisors gathered around. “Everybody out.”
They stand frozen in place until Octavia dismisses them, and then they all exit quickly, leaving the three of you alone. Bellamy walks closer to his sister, and you hang back, sensing that he has something he wants to say to her. “Before I tell you this, we need to set some things straight.”
“I'm listening.”
“This war that you're so anxious for is about to be fought on the last survivable land on Earth. That is monumentally stupid. But it's here, and in four days, when we march on that valley, we are gonna fight this the right way.”
“Does the right way end up with us winning?”
Bellamy shakes his head, annoyed that winning is all she cares about. “It ends with us accepting the other side's surrender. Once they lay down their arms, we share the valley with them. No executions. No fighting pits. Real peace.”
“I accept your terms. Now, tell me how to win this war.”
Bellamy steps away, already done with the conversation. “Indra has the details.”
She calls out to his retreating figure, “Bellamy...this is how it was meant to be. You and me. Fighting side by side.”
Bellamy stops beside you, both of you now standing near the exit of the tent, and he reaches out for your hand before turning to face Octavia. “I'm not fighting for you. I’m fighting for la lune, who you were willing to kill a few days ago. I'm fighting to get back the rest of my family, and I'm fighting so that we can finally build a future here.”
You see a look of hurt pass over Octavia’s face as she realizes he doesn't consider her part of his family, but if he sees it, he ignores it. He just turns back to you and walks out of the tent, guiding you along after him.
-
The next three days of marching are almost continuous, as Octavia decides against stopping to camp 3 nights in a row. Instead, you stop for an hour or so twice a day before continuing the march to the valley. Finally, on day 6, you arrive at the final camping spot, just outside of the valley. You all pitch your tents during the day and spend most of it resting, because as soon as the next day dawns, the war begins.
You and Bellamy crawl out of your tent sometime after nightfall, finally rested after so many days of marching, and you both sit around a small fire and talk, keeping yourselves distracted from your nerves, the way you used to before he went to space without you. Monty comes over as you chat, sitting down on your other side, splitting his rations into three. “Last of the rations.”
You and Bellamy accept his offer with a nod of thanks, and as you all savor the last bit of food you have, Monty turns to look between you and Bellamy. “Look, if you want us with you at the front-”
Bellamy cuts him off, seeing the reluctance on his face, aware of Monty’s dislike of killing. He shakes his head and motions between himself and you. “No, we got this.”
You nod, adding, “You stay. They're leaving the tents here, and once the fight is over tomorrow, you can come and join us.”
Bellamy looks up at the stars, and then over to Monty. “I told Octavia we're taking 80 acres, on the Eastern edge of the valley. Grow something other than algae, okay?”
They look at each other for a long second before they break into smiles, and you grin at the interaction, glad to see them both happy, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Eventually, Monty leaves to go find Harper, and you and Bellamy watch the stars before he suddenly asks, “The last time we were in the desert marching to war, you said something that I never got to ask about.”
You glance away from the sky, and over to him. “What’s that?”
“You said you have a house in the valley, built for two. Did you mean for us?”
“No, I was definitely getting it ready so I could share it with some other guy.” Bellamy laughs, remembering when he asked you to move in with him, and you laugh too. “Yes, for us, if you want it. It’s the perfect size for us, slightly larger than the room we had at Arkadia. It’s got a kitchen and a bathroom, but the best part is the bedroom.”
He gives you a suggestive look. “Oh yeah? Why’s that?”
You laugh and playfully hit his arm. “Not for that reason. It has a window on the roof that opens up to the sky. During the day it lets warm sunshine in, and at night you can see the stars.”
He smiles down at you, tugging you closer to him, whispering against your lips, “It does sound perfect for us.”
He pulls you in for a kiss and you let yourself get lost in the kiss, reminding you of how wonderful it is to be wrapped up in his arms. As the two of you start to pull away, someone clears their throat, and you jump apart, slightly embarrassed. You look up to see Indra looking down at the two of you, and you swear she’s hiding a smile as she nods towards Octavia’s tent. “Last strategy meeting, and they want you both there.”
You stand and follow her to the tent, the last three to arrive, gathering around the table that features the new map, drawn for your plan. Octavia looks at Bellamy, nodding at him to begin. “At dawn, our group in the woods will open fire on pillbox one, in position A here. At the first sign of attack, McCreary's forces at point B and C will converge to reinforce A, thinking that's where we're coming through.”
Octavia muses, “Leaving the other two doors wide open.”
Bellamy glances at you, and you finish the plan, pointing down at the map. “We'll come through here, point C. Now, if we time it right and we move fast, there won't be any resistance.”
Indra mutters, “Once we're in the woods, we take the village.”
Miller finishes, “Once we're in the woods, we win.”
All of you look up and around at each other, making sure everyone understands, and Brell is the first to nod. “Okay, I'll tell my people.”
Miller turns on her, growling, “Your people?”
Indra breaks up the argument and snaps, “Save it for the enemy. Spread the word, we go at first light.”
Everyone starts to dissipate, and Octavia turns her attention to you and Bellamy. “Tell Echo I said well done.”
“You can tell her yourself in two hours.” Bellamy grabs your hand and leads you from the tent, eager to end any conversation with his sister. The two of you head back outside and over to your fire, deciding to spend your last few hours before the war together, enjoying each other’s company. Though your victory seems imminent, you never know what will happen in war. The tides can change at any second, and you could lose, people could die. Which is why you and Bellamy stay huddled together, making sure each of you know just how much you love each other.
Just in case.
The 100 AU
I just read the allegations of one of my favorite actors and I’m (de)pressed. I have no idea if I believe it myself, but if it’s true, then wtf and this dude needs a reality check fr 🙄
Anyway, I just wanted to write something that’ll make me feel better.
The years that went by were peaceful and happy, a big change from having to fight others and protect those that were friends, something Clarke was not used to. Of course, she missed her daughter and the friends she lost along the way to peace, but she was satisfied to know Madi was happy wherever transcendence was.
Everyone else seemed happy with their decision to stay behind with Clarke, she was thankful for them, and Picasso of course.
Just like “Lexa” said, no one had children, much to the dismay of Murphy and Emori, but they had each other.
Indra was the first to pass away, her being the eldest, but she died holding her daughter’s hand and everyone around her, she died loved. Even more years had to pass for the rest to pass away, Niylah being the first. It was just as painful, knowing they’d never see each other again, but everyone made sure to comfort the Grounder woman just like they did with Indra.
One by one, Clarke’s family left her, some two at a time (even in death, Murphy and Emori followed after one another). The last to leave Clarke was Raven. She noted that even in old age, the feisty mechanic looked beautiful, which she expressed to put a smile on her face one last time.
Clarke’s lip trembled as she felt Raven go stiff in her arms, a content expression on her face as her soul left her body.
There was no point in the “may we meet again’s”, not anymore, knowing that they wouldn’t. Clarke wondered if that how Jasper felt before Praimfaya.
Being an old woman, Clarke didn’t have the strength to give her friend a proper burial, but she still tried, but her frail body didn’t allow her.
Clarke slowly walked back to the beach, where she sat down on the shore to look out at the sky as was tradition after every death, but this time it was silent. She had no one to talk to about the recently passed friend, about different memories that would make her laugh. After Murphy and Emori died, the rest of the night was just conversation about how amazing they were as people, and how Murphy could make jokes at any moment and it would elicit laughter out of anyone.
Clarke looked to her right, where Raven would usually be, and frowned.
Clarke thought it was fitting. She arrived back on Earth first, she’d be the last one to leave. Yeah...it was pretty fitting.
Clarke knew she had a good life, it would end happily.
Clarke laid back on the sand, feeling the soft ground in between her fingers. She felt the Sun on her face, the trees just a few meters away, smelling the scent of wildflowers on the chill breeze. It was so beautiful. The ground, that was her dream, and she got to live her perfect dream to the very end.
“Clarke?”
Clarke opened her eyes, seeing the feisty mechanic that she saw die just moments ago softly smiling down at her. “Raven?”
“I knew you wouldn’t be too far behind.” Her smile grew wider.
Clarke looked her friend over, she looked just like she did in her twenties. “Where are we? Is this transcendence?”
Raven’s smile faltered slightly. “No. But we aren’t in Hell, that much I know.” Raven chuckled at Clarke’s confused face. “We’ve all been waiting for you.”
“Huh?”
Raven reached out her hand. “I’ll show you.”
Clarke stood up with Raven’s help, and she couldn’t help but gasp at the sight. The world around her was indescribable, she knew she could never find the right words to express how beautiful everything was. She never knew something could be more beautiful than Earth.
“Is this Heaven?”
Raven smirked. “It definitely feels that way, doesn’t it? We think it’s more like, the knockoff transcendence.” She chuckled. “I didn’t come up with that expression though, so I can’t take credit for that.”
“We?” The amount of questions Clarke had kept adding up by the second.
“Clarke. Relax.” Raven shook her friend’s shoulders slightly. “Everything’s okay. Now, come on, everyone’s getting impatient.”
Clarke huffed. “I would relax if I knew what the hell was going on.”
The two girls came up on a mansion, almost resembling Alie’s, but Clarke quickly ignored that thought.
When Raven opened the door, Clarke was instantly met with the smell of baked goods that made her mouth water instantly. The Latina led her to what she presumed was the kitchen, as the smell increased in intensity.
As soon as the girls walked in, Clarke was met with the booming sound of clapping and cheering. The sight almost made her sob then and there.
There in the middle of the kitchen with a pair of pink oven mitts was Murphy, holding a tray of freshly baked pastries, Emori right beside him wearing excited grins.
Gaia was sitting with her mother at the island opposite of the couple. Hope and Jordan were playing board games at one of the other tables. Niylah was leaning against the wall, she was obviously waiting for their arrival. Miller and Jackson were petting Picasso. Levitt was nowhere to be seen, but in his place next to Octavia was someone Clarke never thought she’d see again. Lincoln.
“There she is!” Murphy shouted much too loudly, causing everyone to laugh.
“How?” Clarke gaped. “How is this possible?”
“Clarke, what did I say? Relax!” Raven grinned, walking over to hug Echo who was just walking into the kitchen.
“Took you long enough.” Echo teased with a smirk playing at the corner of her mouth.
“Hey, princess.”
Clarke froze at the voice from behind her. Thick tears welled in her eyes as she instantly recognized the gruff voice. She didn’t have to turn around to know her best friend was standing behind her. From the look of everyone else’s faces, she knew. Murphy was the first one to shoo everyone out of the kitchen, even the dog. He knew they would need space.
“Clarke.”
Clarke knew she would have to face him eventually, so she forced herself to turn around, but she kept her eyes to the floor.
“Look at me.” He said softly.
Clarke shook her head, the movement forcing her tears to finally fall out of her eyes and landing on her boots. “I can’t...” She cried, the feeling of guilt weighing on her heart.
Clarke felt warm arms wrap around her shoulders, and she let out a shaky breath. “It’s okay.”
Clarke finally dared to look up, seeing his clean shaven face, his dark curly hair framing his face. He looked like the same boy who pulled the level with her at Mount Weather.
“Bellamy...I’m so sorry.” Clarke starting full on sobbing.
Bellamy smiled softly. “You have nothing to apologize for, Clarke.”
“I...I killed you.”
“You had to, to save Madi.”
Clarke shook her head. “I didn’t save her. She ended up dying anyway.” She sobbed.
Bellamy caressed Clarke’s hair, pulling her in for another hug. “You still did the right thing. I was dangerous. I was too brainwashed to think about anything else. If I was in your place...I wouldn’t done the same thing for Octavia.” Bellamy pulled away to wipe the tears from her face. “You don’t have to be sorry for anything. Everything’s okay now. We don’t have to worry about anything anymore.”
Clarke’s sobs finally stopped, and she felt better now that Bellamy was here and didn’t blame her.
Bellamy smiled. “There’s someone else that wants to see you.”
Clarke tilted her head in confusion. “There is?”
“Go on up the stairs and down the hall, second door to the left.” Bellamy instructed, shooing his best friend away.
The house was huge, so Clarke repeated to herself what Bellamy said. Second door to the left...
The door was already slightly ajar. Clarke felt a pit in her stomach. She wondered who could be possibly waiting for her. After seeing Bellamy again, who knows? She thought of her Mom...maybe she would finally see her mother again...or Madi.
The door groaned as it was pushed open, alerting the person inside of Clarke’s presence.
Clarke gasped. Just when she thought she was done crying for the day, the tears welled up once again. She almost didn’t recognize the woman in her casual looking attire, so used to seeing her in her Heda outfit with her typical war paint. But she was just as beautiful as the day she last saw her.
“Hello, Clarke.” Lexa smiled.
