i fucking LOVE this graphic novel. i found it at a thrift shop, signed by the author, which probably means whoever this belonged to was a kickstarter backer for the project. it tells the story of a young artist and his wife being revisited by an old friend just released from prison. a story about drug use, lost friendships, and how your own memory can lie to you, and by extension, lie to your loved ones. maybe the very last line of the novel inspired the name of my comic?

seconds is an amazing graphic novel by bryan lee o'malley, who might be better known for creating scott pilgrim. this is a contemporary fairy tale of the disastrous consequences you might face if you could literally undo anything that might happen to you during the day, and how katie, a restaurant manager learns to abuse that power to send her own world crashing down around her. find it, i know its for free online somewhere but if you buy it thats even better!!

moon moth started as a short story by jack vance (who in his own right created rules for an internal magic system within his stories now called "vancian magic") about a sci fi murder mystery on a utopian planet called Sirene, a planet so accustomed to luxury that crafting and artistic expression are the sole pastime. everyone always wears a mask on sirene, and the social order is complex to learn and navigate...all communication is done through musical accompaniment as well. how will ambassador edward thissel know who is friend or foe??

i met jeremy at an expo a few years ago and regularly visit him every year now whenever hes at a showcase or expo. putting watercolor illustrations to music, writing little creepy poems, fan art of all kinds of franchises, i just really vibe with his artwork.

have you stopped playing the game?

short answer: yeah, for the time being. i played through all class stories multiple times, i played through the expansions (though i stopped playing the newest one from february 5 mins after starting it bc it quite frankly bored me to death) and im pretty much done with it. maybe i'll return in a few years and pick up some stories again but the game doesn't keep me entertained whatsoever. (HOWEVER this does not mean this blog is abandoned, i love my characters very much and still develop and tinker on them, but my artistic muse lies somewhere else rn)

long answer:

ultimately, i have to say swtor is severely lacking some casual map events, that cycle through the day to get some casual player engagement. basically like the monthly ones (gree, rakghoul) but on a minor scale and daily, on every single planet. and i dont mean missions you pick up from a missions terminal that you can solo, i mean things that happen casually where people randomly decide to join in in the spur of the moment - akin to world bosses perhaps?

i feel like its pretty sad that the only 'multiplayer' the game has to offer are flashpoints and operations (the latter hidden behind a paywall), where gear really matters if you wanna play it with some randos, which puts off a lot of casual players (ESPECIALLY with these newest gear changes. LMFAO). and lets be real, 99% of solo players do heroics on their own unless they happen to find someone by chance to team up with so it gets done faster. and they're pretty static so its not really an event either but just a chore to get money (for a market thats so ridiculously out of hand that you might as well just forget buying desireable cosmetics while you're at it)

playing gw2 as my main mmo rn and i find myself actively searching and engaging a lot of map boss events and stuff even without a guild, and its never been an issue of what gear i have or if im good at my rotation or whatever. everyone can jump in and help out, reap the rewards and then everyone parts ways again. and if someone does die, u just band together and revive them. and if the event fails? its whatever because it'll repeat in a few hours anyway so we can try again. eso and xiv have them too and i used to camp at certain event spots all day just to play some silly event and get loot and horse around with random players. these are the moments i cherish in mmos.

u might argue swtor just isn't a game like that but 🤷‍♂️ the game quite frankly bores me so much, it feels very static and undynamic, i usually drop it again after a week of playing. besides story there isnt much to do from a casual perspective, and the rewards for doing fp/ops are... mediocre at best. i dont even have any motivation to do them unlike in XIV, ESO or GW2 where u actually get really cool gear or items of all kinds that you can use for ur enjoyment. and even with those monthly events like the rakghoul ones, it feels more like a competition of who can do the mission faster so they dont have to wait for an object to respawn rather than 'lets do it together and all win' !

so tl;dr : swtor could use some daily active map events where all kinds of players can engage in, with desirable rewards such as cool looking gear, titles, minions, mounts, furniture, whatever, and same goes to flashpoints and operations. and then i'll maybe return long term.

I could seriously talk about the sims community for ages it’s genuinely one of the most unique gaming communities I know of because it’s primarily not made up of what we’d consider gamers- a very large amount of the sims audience plays only sims, because the sims is honestly so unique as a series being essentially a virtual dollhouse that allows you to do literally anything it appeals to completely different people than a lot of other games. it’s also got a much higher amount of female players, older players, and queer players than any series I’ve seen.

they’re so outside the typical hardcore gamer idea that the world and the industry has, but they’re also insanely dedicated. there’s coders basically making whole new games in it, content creators making gorgeous custom content that sets computers on fire, people using it to tell beautiful stories, people who make unique challenges, the community is endless in its dedication and sharing that with others. having thousands of hours in these games isn’t abnormal. you can find the most absurdly obscure trivia about these games incredibly easily because it’s all documented so well.

there’s also this insane level of dedication? like, spending hundreds of pounds to get every single expansion pack is normal. getting all the stuff packs isn’t something everyone does, but a lot of people do it. i’ve never seen a community so eager to spend hundreds on dlc before, and that’s because, at least in the past, it was legitimately worth the price. sims 1, 2, and 3 complete are masterpieces, especially with mods, and sims 4 has… issues (which I’m pretty sure are 100% execs faults, the devs seem to be genuinely trying their hardest) but it’s still got something that makes purchasing most of it worthwhile.

but ever since EA got their hands on sims, they’ve been basically trying to treat it like every other games franchise and failing horribly bc the sims community is so different to like fifa and madden. you could first see this with the store, which even the community eager to spend hundreds on dlc hated, because it was 99% cosmetics when there’s literally millions of free cosmetics downloadable online. even then, i saw people be genuinely appreciative with new neighbourhoods and gameplay stuff, though there was still lots of complaints.

but with the sims 4? god the execs do NOT know the community and they’re not going to try. first they tried to make it basically an mmo, which no one in the community wanted (this is why sims 4 feels like an always online multiplayer mobile game basically). then they had content cut that was iconic, they toned down the trademark cheeky humour the series always had to appeal to kids, they put so much focus on hip trendy things and product placement that just does NOT appeal to wine mums who want to build houses.

and I really do think the devs are trying and listening, but they’re being told to make things that the higher ups think will sell and not things they want, and what the higher ups think people will like is not what the sims community ever wants. and with rumours they’re trying to make sims 5 a multiplayer game too despite how that went with sims city and sims 4 i will die laughing if EA shoots themselves in the foot by alienating an entire group of customers who will happily pay hundreds by simply not even trying to appeal to them. i mean, the sims community will still be around even if that happens, the last mod for sims will be uploaded seconds before the stars burn out, so i wouldn’t mind.

this story reads kinda weird to me bc this story is one of the first in a long time to retain his usage of kimi (for the mc) and –i ending particle in very intimate settings. like, pretty sure the last time they did that in a ministory and/or route was before he had a main route. i guess for the –i endings you could take that as him being playful (tho imo usually from my perspective i feel like he tends to go the opposite way in terms of language genteel aka become more coarse in language). makes me wonder how exactly writing gets done in cybird, given that the writing staff in ikevam like ~3 ppl.

anyway this election is honestly zzz for the mid-low tier charas bc each of the categories are already picture-perfect for the top charas and category benefits only reach 1st-3rd in which only the 1st is worth talking abt bc the podium prize is just can badges. cybird u unga bunga why tf would anyone want an incentive that likely requires further money spending sexy will be arthur, charming will be idk vincent/mo/isaac, and kiken is just vlad probably. zzz NEXT

While I will absolutely agree that CB2077 isn’t the ONLY game doing all this bullshit, or that other AAA studios don’t deserve the flack CDPR is getting, I have to say that this is absolutely the perfect storm and I think people are FINALLY seeing the problems in modern AAA gaming. CB2077 might be fun to play, may have a good story, but it’s almost impossible to see because of the glaring issues. Which, honestly, is a good thing. I hope games change after this.

AAA studios have been like this and this sort of release has been completely normalised on all accounts by both the businesses themselves and fans because of the inherent reliance on modders (bethesda at the forefront of this), as well as the pushback every time companies actually go ‘uh we need a lil more time’ (although... they just shouldnt announce potential release dates, im even of the camp they shouldnt even start releasing the game until like 6 months out from their official date because they fuck it up every time. borderlands 3 being the only game i know of being in “secret” development and then announcing itself in march for a september release. game itself aside, thats how companies should do it). easily i can remember a lot of 2011 release games which have had the exact same issues as cp77′s release, and then every other game in between since. very rarely do you actually have a game that isn’t a fucked up mess of a pile of pixels. and it is always the customisable character ones that are honestly, genuinely, ugly looking at release. but you can definitely say its been happening looooooong before 2011, with unrealistic expectations, word limits, 11 month time frames, offloading sequels to smaller companies so they can suffer if it fails, etc etc. the entire system has been like this for so long... they dont know any real different nowadays.

i mean look. tlou2 released under crunch conditions this year, and was rewarded. it was ALL over the social media feeds, it was quite the controversy because, surprise surprise, the company promised they wouldnt do it uwu and then. bam ! crunch conditions. literally around that time too, bioware employees came out with a statement saying ‘man we wish dai FAILED so that back in 2014 we couldve proven crunch was a wrong practice’. they say this as well after having to produce da2 in 14 months, which just suffered from fans and journalism for reusing environments, because it was produced in 14 months, and honestly? no one pointed that out back then, bioware themselves pointed it out again this year, 6 years after release, that that game was produced in 14 months. rdr2′s release was hounded by stories of crunch, and they all disappeared into the night because... it was heralded as the best game of all time. that was 2018, 2 years ago.

i think too is that some people get kind of ... morally and ethically concerned. which is understandable. can you consume something when you know it was made under conditions like crunch? and i think one of the most confronting things about it is that 9/10, not only has your favourite company engaged in crunch conditions, they almost actively choose to continue with them. and then that’s a whole other bag of issues blown up over there when it comes to what is able to be consumed what isn’t etc etc

i think also like a mix of marketing, promises and then the expectations of what the game will be like have really had cdpr earn the ire of fans which is just like... you don’t believe what these companies are saying. you never should, esp when it’s their ceo’s saying it who don’t work on the actual floor. bioware itself is the main culprit of doing this to the point they finally came around with all the da4 concept art and teasing to be like ‘ummm but actually dont get invested?’. remember all that qunari lady fanart that bioware management was like ... please dont get attached? yeah. yeah. like at what point as well is there going to be heavy level of apprehension to approach this? and i can’t really talk either, i cracked open the door for mass effect again. i know exactly what kind of shit bioware will pull, i know they are teasing it already on social media, but mass effect is my ride or die series. that’s why people keep opening the door on letting these companies get away with it. and you can’t fault fans entirely either because this is down to a science of how to get money. i mean, fuck, mass effect andromeda’s entire advertising campaign HINGED on the n7 logo. for the nostalgia value. and i see text posts in the same vein of both ‘guys, disney isnt gonna fuck you if you consume every remake for nostalgia value’ and ‘its understandable why people do it’.

so then you have to go ‘well are fans as just to blame’ and then that’s a whole other argument.

i think also like. i personally havent run into aaaannnyyyyyyy of the issues that you see posted online. which is ironic bc 1) i play on ps4 and 2) its an old dusty ps4. in fact a lot of ppl i have spoken to who have had issues have played on pc. does this mean the glitches dont exist? ofc not, the vids and screenshots are right there. but like... ive had a basically unhindered experience so far, and i get where ppl are coming from (i do, i promise) where theyve basically found the game unplayable. is there also a standard of what ppl consider unplayable because ive played most AAA games at launch when they basically rushed to slap the box label on the game and called it a day until they work on patches. when ppl consider unplayable is also just... different per person. some people have a slight blur on the screen when turning too fast even in an MMO and decide the game is horrible and unplayable. some people can have broken quests and npcs not loading and falling through maps and still be fine. there’s no agreed statement of what makes a game unplayable either, which is why you read threads on twitter and someone goes ‘yeah this npc t-posed so i quit in the first hour’ with a dozen replies. everyone has different levels of it.

it’s a mixed bag of issues. im not excusing cdpr, but the ppl who worked on the game are honestly likely not the ones who pushed for a release. you’ve gotta look at sony and microsoft and ceo’s with bonuses coming up and the investors and shareholders and people who sit behind computers and read numbers detailing interest and demand and supply and how every single time they had to delay this game, the loudest (but smallest) bunch of assholes on like reddit and in the twitter threads complained that it was delayed AGAIN even though back in what 2015? they said it’ll come out when it’s ready. and yeah there are times when game delays result in a mismatched half assed sort of story (kh3... p5... ffxv... dai...) and then there are times when, if they need to delay the game... they probably need to delay the game. sometimes delays are bad sometimes theyre good sometimes you are sitting there like whew if you only didn’t try to be like THIS TIME this is the release date.

the ONLY WAY this will stop happening is, quite frankly, unionising. and everyone is allergic to that whole concept so like... this is “the perfect storm” as you put it. but it’s also not. people have been so disappointed over the last 2 years alone for gaming companies, the final product, the attitudes from higher ups, that i think cdpr is receiving a good few years worth of anger. i think theyre also on the receiving end of misdirection from american fans who still don’t fucking get the company isn’t american, because that’s another bag of issues as well. like we’re holding at least 8 bags of groceries out of the back of the car now, and we don’t want to take another trip, because there are so many little bits of this entire situation to look at. there’s so much back and forth.

i think the worst, but most realistic thing is: games won’t change. how they will social media wise will. maybe. assuming bioware gets their heads out their asses but... they’re going to be a lot more careful. i mean, hell, sony offered refunds. that was just a publicity stint. they dont give a fuck if the game was bad. as i said before, if they did, they would make all companies fix trophy problems, starting from like 2010 or whenever the trophy system first came out. they just don’t wanna fall in alongside cdpr being thrown on its sword. but the companies are gonna learn from this, get smarter, still do the same shit to their employees, still pay off journalists, still do media blackouts, etc etc. and we’re gonna be here in another year’s time, with another game, having these same roundabout arguments, and cp77′s issues are gonna fade into just a wikipedia article.

putting this under a cut because it’s a bit long! but tldr: I might lol it depends on if it’s good or not, or how impulsive I am near the end of june :p

Let me start off by saying that ffxiv hasn’t been a hyperfixation or special interest for me (both if which I can get but find hard to differentiate between bc of adhd/autism comorbidity) since at least January, which is the last time I believe I played. This isn’t bad! I usually have months-long on/off cycle with games, and I got really into other great games like pillars of eternity, gw2, the sims, etc .  I’m saying this because some people can get a bit defensive when they feel like I’m ignoring our shared fandom to get excited about something else. I’m not! It just isn’t what I’m currently focused on, and I will politely but firmly say that there’s nothing wrong with that :>

I’ve had some issue with the writing direction that ffxiv has been taking as of late. Just the usual, and nothing unexpected. I got into it in the first place because it was a very well-made mmo, not because I held any expectations of anything narratively. Besides, writing doesn’t have to be great for me to enjoy a game (which I do enjoy! :). The problem arose when Shadowbringers was first announced, and even thinking about anything to do with it made me incredibly anxious/gave me meltdowns. Not to mention a staggering amount of people in the fandom seem to be incapable of spoiler-tagging, so I barely had enough time to get myself together to figure out why it was happening.

But I did. Long story short, I’ve come to place a lot of personal value in some characters, more than a “normal” person would realistically warrant. I was genuinely concerned for a couple of months that if anything negative happened to them, it would have a severe impact on my mental health. Without getting into details about why this would happen, I’d ask you and everyone reading this to please take that statement seriously. This combined with the fact that ffxiv’s plot can be predictable (to me at least), and narrative beats incredibly so, all I was getting from Shadowbringers were very, very bad (to me personally) impressions. Other people’s constant excitement, theories, etc etc about it definitely were not helping.

I’ve unfollowed a lot of ffxiv blogs and blacklisted a lot by now, and my friends make sure to tag since I’ve made enough fusses about it that they actually remember, which is nice. and overall i’m not in the same headspace as i was a few months ago! mostly now i can make myself think about other things instead of constantly stressing/having anxiety attacks about it :>

but other than that, my main reasoning boils down to the fact that the plot and setting are really just things I’m not interested in in the slightest. and if the story turns out to be not that great, that’s over 70$ i’ve spent on something i might just stop caring about, and that may even make me feel icky. as i said yesterday, however, the trust system really did pique my interest again, as did the tentative hints i’m getting that the plot isn’t actually what they hinted it to be when shb was first announced. this is fairly standard practice, actually, and i’m kind of annoyed at myself for not thinking more rationally. on the other hand, i was really freaking out lollll . as much as i try to ignore hype, and theories that i know won’t happen because they aren’t realistically, graphically, or narratively probable (sorry yall :p), it’s difficult to not let even a smidge of that leak to your subconscious.

so i’ll wait until what i know is an overreaction on my part over the trust system repaints itself more realistically to me, and maybe even until the expansion is already out and i can ask my friends specific questions. or i might impulse buy it if i fail to do that; hey, it’s my birthday month :p rightsorry if this was WAY too long an answer to a very short question lollll.  this just has been sitting in my head for a long time and all the words came pouring out!

this is about 7 months old and as we can see yeah ANet did not just collapse and is still doing healthy but the tl;dr is that Jessica Price was a dev who was fired for her conflict with a partner of ANet which spakred some debate about sexism but i honestly. really think she was just kind of an asshole and got fired for it although it did bring up some good points about the industry and the whoel thing is, no matter where you stand on it, a very messy and complicated situation

so Jessica Price was a GW2 dev that to my knowledge did work for Living World and writing for GW2 in general. she’s an industry veteran with a dozen years. she had a twitter thread about the complications of writing an MMO main protagonist, in that you have to write them in a way without too much emotion or personality or it won’t feel like “your” character, which lead to this alteration with a streamer

maybe its mansplaining, maybe its not... it really doesn’t feel like it??? i really have the benefit of the doubt the dude was just giving his own opinion on this one as a (paid) content creator for the game with an opinion

then things really began to escalate as price made several more tweets and things got really out of control really fast

now I don’t watch Deroir’s streams so i don’t know much about the man himself, his attitude, or his personality, but this does seem to be the only conflict he ever had with her (so it wasn’t a series of little things blowing up). another dev publicly defended Price and things escalated, prompting ANet to fire them, announced by Mike O’Brien, CEO of ANet:

i don’t think it was particularly wrong of ANet to fire her at this point, as she was publicly an employed part of this company that acted extremely unprofessionally to a situation she could have completely ignored or civilly disagreed with. if Deroir had been a full-blown “sweetie, I don’t think you fully understand the writing of this game you work on :)” as far as i’m concerned this situation would be changed entirely and i’d be 100% on her side but i don’t think its hard to describe it as an appropriate reaction. the above is from the GW2 official forums on a thread concerning the incident.

i do think its worth really keeping in mind this wasn’t a conversation about gender as opposed to the writing of believable MMO characters, i really genuinely feel it was a genuine opinion that quickly devolved into something else. and everyone who knows me knows i’m usually completely on this side which is... why its. feels really weird of me to even type this because i don’t want to be against this side

i do however believe it was a bit too hasty to just fire them...? i think giving Price a chance to make up for it wouldn’t have been out of the question? it was definitely a tense situation that absolutely warranted being called into the boss’ office to say “hey. you uh. fucked up and made problems for us. you gotta fix this.” although considering Price’s attitudes i think she just would have used this against ANet later. it was a PR nightmare no matter how things would have gone down. i think Price would have blown any chance to make up for it, but I am surprised the guy was fired just for standing up for her. i would understand ANet saying “hey. you represent us publicly on twitter. do not support behavior that antagonizes our fanbase again.” but to fire him definitely seemed like jumping the gun, and that one i definitely don’t agree with. i think he (Fries) deserved a stern reprimand without consequences at most as long as it didn’t happen again, while Price should have at least been given a chance to make up for that incident

Price then reached out to basically any journalistic source that would reach out to her and decried the firing as based in sexism and harassment and basically bowing down to make gamergaters happy, and claiming that ANet’s public statement was directly harassing her by basically sicing a mob on her. it is true that the behavior she faced afterwards was unforgivable: i don’t have screenshots but you can probably imagine how it was with men like this. and Price has repeatedly blamed ANet as basically selling her out to make dudebro neckbeards happy and for not protecting her knowing what happens to a disgraced female dev in this modern day. however, to say ANet was “actively soliciting harassment” is an incredible stretch, and i don’t believe that was really the case. this was a very messy situation that ANet absolutely should have handled much better, but it still ultimately boils down to an employee acting in a way that’s unacceptable and being fired for it that... really doesn’t seem to have its roots based in sexism. she’s also gone on the record saying she’s being contacted by people who will “never work with ANet again” and milking that for what its worth. fast forward now to 7 months later and ANet clearly is still in a good place financially so... i really doubt there’s any permanent fallback as a result.

i just think she’s just an extremely white lady. the kind of person who demands to see the manager kind of white. i don’t have a good opinion of her nor do i think she’s “one of us” worth looking out for. i really doubt people are going to avoid working with ANet if given a valuable deal with it.

she should have been reprimanded and asked to apologize and given a chance to make up for it; although i think with the full story and conversation in mind its hard to really sympathize with her. white women are gonna white and this whole thing escalated out of control as a result and i absolutely wouldn’t want this woman on my development team for anything at the end of the day.

okay here we fucking go I have a lot to say

TL;DR I have a lot of problems with fallout 76 but I’ll still play it lol

First I’m gonna talk about the things I like.  The new creatures looks dope as HELL, also the environment itself looks gorgeous. The colors are so vibrant and I love the changing seasons, and the fact you can see differences in weather from a distance n stuff. That’s it really, that’s all I’m mostly excited for.

Now for cons. Just gonna go ahead and say I hate that it’s multiplayer. I appreciate that Bethesda is trying to do something new, but Fallout isn’t the kind of game that would lend itself well to multiplayer gaming. Todd said they made it multiplayer because he wanted people to be able to experience the game together with other people, but personally, I really loved that I could talk to people about how they handled things differently in past games, compared to me. I WILL say that I’m glad theres a cap on how many people can be in one game, so it’s not over crowded with players. Even though there’s only a couple dozen people in the game at a time, there’s still going to be millions of trolls bc people on the internet are always assholes. That’s just the way it is. You’d set up a new settlement and some jackass is gonna run in and raid the place or drop a goddamn nuke on it. Which, is another really dumb thing. It’s really weird that they included nukes, while I understand it’s supposed to be hard to find the codes, that’s not gonna stop people from nuking the shit out of you and your creations. There’s literally no other reason for that to be a feature in the game, other than to be an asshole. I mean yeah you can nuke an area and get loot and kill all the animals, but you can also do that, without nuking them.  The whole multiplayer thing is questionable too. Everyone in the game is supposed to be a real person, does that mean there’s no NPCs??? Who tf am I supposed to sell my shit to. ON THAT NOTE, no COMPANIONS??? HELLO????  Where’s my Dogmeat, where’s my ability to romance companions?? I’m not gonna fall in love with fuckin, dabmaster69. Being able to romance companions was a HUUUUGE plus for me in Fallout 4. Idk if you noticed but I love them so much, I made a goddamn blog about them sooooo. 

Back to questionable multiplayer stuff, how does any of this fucking work. Todd said there’s no servers??? How do your own settlements and everything stay with you without potentially overlapping with someone else’s when you enter the game? Is it supposed to be like, someone hosts it and ppl can join or are you just thrown into it?? If there ARE NPCs, it’ll be like an MMO, which I think feels INCREDIBLY impersonal. Someone hearing the same dialogue and potentially picking the same responses as me, at the exact same time, feels really wrong. I know that happens in other games, but it isn’t happening right next to me. 

When the teaser first came out, I was hoping for a new game, but now I WISH it was a remastered fo3 or New Vegas. Even a game similar to Fallout 4! The biggest issue people had with Fallout 4 was the lack of freedom in what you did with yourself, you couldn’t be evil exactly. (of course there’s other issues like lack of vaults, Danse’s story, and so on) They just had to change one fucking thing but they did this instead. It’s way too ambitious. Fallout is such a unique game, and now it feels like just another multiplayer game. 

Despite all of this, of course I’m going to play it. I’ll inevitably enjoy it too. All of my annoyances still stand though goddamnit. Hell maybe I’ll even go for the power armor edition bc when it comes to fallout merch my caution goes right out the goddamn window. (Thinking about trying for the beta, not sure tho)

If there isn’t an offline solo option with companions I’m going to fill Todd’s ass with leaves.

how the soulmate system worked was that when you reached 15

the name of your soulmate would appear as a tattoo on your arm

and when the two of you met

it would be a moment where you both just knew you had found each other

and then the tattoo would disappear

when you were young you were never one for fairytales or believed in a prince charming

but it was only when your older sister found her soulmate that you began to be excited too

your sister had found her soulmate the day she turned 15

bc her soulmate was the guy she had been crushing on at school and he had been crushing on her too

the rule was that soulmates could get together only when they were both 15

if the rule was broken then the two people were not allowed to be together

so the boy knew your sister was his soulmate but he kept it a secret for a few months and surprised your sister on valentines day which was her birthday

and you found their love story so romantic

that you couldn’t help but anticipate meeting and finding out who your soulmate was

maybe it was your crush? or the cute senior that got on and off at the same bus stop as you?

needless to say you were excited

and even started a countdown on your calendar for the day you would turn 15

and when you did

so wtf a foreign name had appeared on your arm and you were panicking

you could barely pronounce that name properly

yes you were korean but most of the people around you weren’t

and the koreans you knew all had english names so

at first you thought oh it’s probably someone’s korean name

so you asked every single korean guy in your school there were only a few for their korean names

and it was embarrassing because some you’d never talked to and when you explained to them why you were asking they thought you were even weirder

you even messaged random koreans that went to primary school with you and asked your parents to ask their friends if they knew a kang euigeon

and ofc they didn’t

bc it was such a strange name

and as time went by everyone could see you become discouraged about the whole soulmate thing bc before you used to be the one to talk about it the most

and you would tell the story of how your sister met her soulmate to everyone you met in the hopes that your story would be just as romantic

most of your friends also found their soulmates and they had normal names like “mark tuan” or “jackson wang”

you started to really think maybe you were destined to be alone or that your soulmate was someone living in the countryside of korea that you’d probably never meet

your friends encouraged you that your soulmate would surely come along one day and that it would be like magic but honestly you weren’t convinced at all

and like that five years went by and you were 20

meanwhile in korea a trainee named kang daniel glanced at his arm with the name y/n y/l/n imprinted

he liked the fact that your name was unique and not a typical korean name

he liked the idea that his soulmate was a korean possibly living in a foreign country

he couldn’t wait to meet her and learn about the culture there and learn even more english

growing up daniel always had a dream and that was to stand on stage and now he was about to enter the auditions for produce 101 with the mmo boys

with that same dream, he thought it would help in finding his soulmate too

you were busy with life

and because of the whole disappointing soulmate thing you started to become a fan of kpop

and well produce 101 was airing but you weren’t one for survival shows and heartbreak

one day you and your friends were chilling at your place

when produce 101 happened to be airing your friends all wanted to watch it so you all ended up watching it

you were glued on hwang minhyun tbh having been a nue’st fan

you and your friends all completely forgot about your soulmate who was probably in korea

most of the trainees had korean names that weren’t kang euigeon 

as the show went on you started liking kang daniel too

and you were so so happy that he had gotten first place

and then months later it was announced that wanna one would be coming to kcon in australia

you and your friends all decided to go

and when collecting your tickets and audience passes you and your friends all gathered in a circle to scratch the hi touch passes together

and when you guys scratched the cards only you out of all your friends had gotten the hi touch for wanna one

and like only 200 out of the 20000 people at the concert got the wanna one hi touch so thats like 1% chance 

you were over the moon and couldn’t believe your luck

you told yourself even though you weren’t lucky with soulmates at least you were lucky enough to meet wanna one ppl at kcon were selling their hi touches for like 500 omg

one of your friends had gotten audience pass for wanna one so she promised to film you

meanwhile daniel was backstage waiting for the hi touch begin

honestly all of wanna one had met their soulmates and he was the last one

wanna one all knew about his possible foreign soulmate and they had this special feeling that daniel would definitely met her at kcon

and daniel wanted to believe that but he didn’t want to have his hopes too high

as for you you were now in the audience waiting for wanna one

kevin woo my bae came out and everyone cheered

then finallyyyyy wanna one came out and you screamed in happiness

you were quite short and you weren’t in the front row so you couldn’t see well even though you were standing on your tippy toes

daniel was also scanning the crowd hoping to make eye contact with someone that could be his soulmate

but because of your height he obviously couldn’t spot you

daniel turned to jinyoung next to him and shook his head sadly and jinyoung patted his back in assurance

daniel didn’t want to show his disappointment to the fans so he put on a smile and continued with the fanservice

then hi touch finally happened

you were near the end bc you were hoping to have more time with the members lol guys that sadly doesn’t work

as you approached each member you could feel your heart beating wildly as wanna one were smiling down at you and saying thank you sweetly esp seongwoo omg my heart

when you reached daniel

the moment you made eye contact with him and when your hands met

you literally felt your heart burst

it was an indescribable feeling

but you didn’t think much of it bc you thought your heart was bursting because you’d met your bias

you were fangirling so much lol

daniel also felt something but the hi touch was happening too fast and he thought he was just excited at meeting his overseas fans 

anyways it was only when it was almost the end of the hi touch session that you rolled your sleeves up and realised the kang euigeon tattoo was no longer there

you freaked out as you tried to comprehend what that meant

and then it snapped

you gasped in shock

you glanced around and there were only a few fanboys but when you asked them they weren’t a kang euigeon

you completely forgot about wanna one and focused on finding your soulmate

you even mustered the courage to lean across the barrier and ask the young korean looking photographer at the event for his name and it was embarrassing

you stood frozen as that was your name

you went back in and told the security it was your name and they told you to wait

was it a family emergency that you were to learn off? was something bad going to happen? or was it your soulmate..?

too many thoughts were running in your head and you were getting confused that you felt like you had a headache

then you felt a tap on your shoulder

you turned around and met eyes with the most gorgeous pair of eyes you’d seen

so how it works is that soulmates share emotions

kind of

whenever your soulmate is feeling any type of extreme emotion, you feel it too

and vice versa

and apparently, according to everyone around you who had already met their own soulmates, you’ll just know when you meet yours?

apparently you’re supposed to feel like a rush of a range of emotions when you meet them for the first time, and you just know in your heart that you’ve met them

or whatever

sounds kinda sketchy to you but ok

anyways the one thing you’re thankful for is that whoever your soulmate was seemed to be relatively emotionless lol

he seemed to rarely feel any type of way extremely enough that you felt it too

most of the time growing up, you’d just feel a random sense of joy now and then

of course there were times when he got sad and angry too but those times were rare

but tbh you kind of felt bad for him bc although you were generally an optimistic and happy person, you’re also super short-tempered

so there must have been times when your soulmate who was having a perfectly good and happy day must have gotten fricking irritated out of nowhere

so you always make a mental note to yourself to apologise to him when you two finally meet lol

ok anyways things were going smoothly for about the first 15 years of your life

and you get a little overwhelmed bc for some reason you’re thinking about how if you were already feeling so low all the time, your soulmate who was the actual person feeling the full force of the emotions must be going through such a hard time

what’s he going through that makes almost every other day so confusing and hard for him? assuming he’s around your age, he’s kinda young to have gone through anything too horrible

the thought breaks your heart

in fact you somehow feel so bad for him that you start tearing up

your friends are like oh y/n :((((

one thing you hate about all this though is that sometimes your own emotions get buried under your soulmates’

so in order to cheer up your friend your other friend suggests you guys watch the second season of produce 101 which had started airing a while ago

and you’re all eager to agree bc y’all loved the first season

so you guys marathon the first few episodes of broduce and even from the first episode you have your eyes set on the mmo boys

i mean how could you not they are literally talking every five seconds

and their performance of A is not too bad and you’re especially interested in the guy with the pink hair like you think he dances super well

so this means that while watching the show you should be most affected by daniel right since you’re the most impressed by him?

there’s this other trainee called baejin who looks super shy and anxious throughout the first few episodes and for some reason your heart breaks every time they show him struggling

like you empathise with him so much that you feel like you almost know exactly how he must feel?

as the weeks pass it becomes a tradition for you and your friends to come together every friday night and watch broduce together (where can i get friends like these lol)

you’re kind of surprised because in the episode where daniel gets ranked last in his sorry sorry team and the disappointment shines through in his eyes despite his smile

you’re more concerned and curious about what’s gonna happen to baejin

so like although you claim to your friends that daniel is your one pick they all know that it’s baejin lmao

as the episodes pass you are sooo glad and proud to see him gaining confidence

when you guys are watching the final episode and baejin is the center for hands on me you actually cRY because of how happy and proud you are

and when it’s announced that he’s going to debut? there are no words to explain how happy and relieved you are bc ur FAV MADE IT!!!

but as you’re watching the ending moments of the last episode and it’s late into the night and all your friends including yourself are sobbing messes

suddenly there’s a thought that sneaks its way into your mind

tbh you weren’t really feeling all sad and low recently? especially in the past few weeks

and it’s just that of course all of you guys were pretty emo about broduce but you were so particularly invested and focused on baejin

and considering the fact that you weren’t one to get so emotional about stuff like survival shows

and you’re like wow i’m gonna be this boy’s fan forever he’s so talented and amazing and handsome and funny etc etc etc the list goes on 4ever

but as you’re thinking that there’s the other thought creeping into your mind again and you’re troubled

you think about it for a while

and decide that the only way to understand it is if you could meet him

which is nearly impossible because he’s a fricking superstar

but,,, they’re having their first fansign soon and although you don’t have enough money to like buy hundreds of albums to guarantee yourself a spot in it

you decide that maybe you could apply with just one album

if you got in, then it was the universe trying to make something happen

As a joke we created ourselves in the game. Legitimately, we made ourselves in the game. I made myself a human despite the fact I find humans boring, she’s a priest because for some reason a priest is usually my first pick when joining an MMO, and the RP profile honestly has my name on it. (If you find me on Wrymrest Accord, hollaback.)

Now, I think the Loremaster achievement is something everyone should work on at some point, whether you’re new or old to the game, so you can actually enjoy it (which is why Draenor and Legion flight is locked behind their respective Loremaster segments but boy howdy you’ll never catch me doing WoD again). I originally wanted my draenei to get Outland Loremaster for obvious reasons, but.... he out-leveled it. Even though I really wanted to try tanking in the Cataclysm dungeons (80-85), he was too high level for those “weaken the mob and then use this item” types of quests (70). I even stripped him naked and he was too strong. My boy Jaelkanaaz is ripped, son.

Instead, I decided that my human priest was going to do Loremaster now. She has four or five moves that do any sort of damage and I will also level lock her when she reaches the max level of the expansion she’s working on. Perfect for the aforementioned types of quests. So she’s going to be in Outland for quite some time. Vanilla/BC purists, listen now, I’m sure The Burning Crusade expansion was good at its time, but the realm of Outland is so fricking boring and monotonous that I cry knowing that the extension of myself has to go through it again for an achievement.

Non-WoWers, at level 58-60, you start in Hellfire Peninsula, the lowest level zone of Outland. Look up images. Everything is spread so far out and there’s no foliage; it’s just red sand, fucked up beasts, the remnants of buildings, and a path of draenei bones leading up from a broken fortress to the portal you jumped through. People usually just dungeon their way from 60 to 70, although there are some people who actually do the quests because they enjoy zone leveling. Or they’re like me and they’re getting achievements.

As I’m flying to my next god-awfully boring location, I accidentally fly over a Horde encampment. An NPC shoots me and this flags me for PvP. I just think, y’know, no one’s really around here anyway and this flag will disappear in five minutes, I’ll be okay.

Not what happened.

There was a blood elf paladin. I still remember his name. I remember he was in the low 60s like me. He was in that camp doing quests. He had seen me fly over and get flagged. He knew I was an easy target. He flew after me and waited for me to land and proceeded to stun and whup my ass like a true pro. In panic I hit him back but I tried to type things like /wait and /no and kept spelling it wrong in my adrenaline rush from getting caught off-guard and those never made it into the chat. Not that it would’ve mattered anyway, I’m sure he just wanted an easy kill. I tried to run, knew that would never work, then tried to stand my ground. The dude’s got his shields on. Again, I’ve got five moves that might do something if I was actually into PvP, otherwise I’m healing myself throughout the fight. Knowing it’s futile, I quickly accept death and end up at the graveyard about a good half-minute’s run away and go back to my body hoping he’s not camping me.

During this auto-run back to what I assumed is my freshly tea-bagged body, I hop into the group chat and say “Deco, avenge me, this belf kicked my ass lol” not thinking she’d actually hop on and try to find him. I know now that no one is allowed to annihilate me, even if it had been a fair fight. She gets on her most powerful character, her huntress, and I show her where I got my ass beat. I hear her tell her husband, “Hey honey, someone killed Drac, you wanna go kill them?”

I tell her that I had flown over the Horde camp nearby and I go over to check... The paladin is still there, doing his quests. I honestly did not think he’d still be there, I was sure that he’d run off somewhere else to claim himself undefeated. I saw him turn, and he most likely sees the flapping wing of my dragon so obviously there behind a rock. Silly priest, too chicken to fight again amongst these higher level NPCs who will one-shot her. As soon as Deco spots him, his flag wears off and he flies away to do his quest. Deco stalks him there and uses Shadowmeld, her racial move that allows her to become untraceable and blend in.

She gives me instructions to act like I’m doing the same quest that he’s doing and to keep my flag on. I’m basically the bait. I’m turned about 90 degrees from this guy, killing mobs with my PvP on, and he runs up to me to immediately turn his flag on....

Fthwp!

Deco kills him in one shot. I do /cry and /sorry but he’s probably already astral walking back to his body from wherever the Horde’s grave is. I run around still killing mobs. Deco wants to camp him. He spawns in. Fthwp! Downs him again. The third time, he tries to mount up and take off. Fthwp! 

By this point it’s just funny but I also feel so bad that he was outmatched and we baited him like this. She tries to make me feel better by going off saying that you don’t attack a priest unless they attack first. I mean, sure, I fought back, and none of my pleas of mercy made it through chat, but she was still mad that someone just waltzed on up and killed her friend without honorable permission.

“He’s going to learn his lesson! He’ll have to get Respawn Sickness if he wants to escape me!” (Translation: He’ll have to choose to spawn at the graveyard instead of near his body, but he’ll spend the next ten minutes at half stats and half broken armor.)

Deco’s husband arrives. He’s a Demon Hunter who looks like he just farmed the Nargacuga from Monster Hunter several hundred times and finally got the full tier set. I’ve got the PvP Couple™ on their level 110 night elves protecting my tiny human priest who has to suffer through Outland for about the third time in her gaming life. 

The paladin had followed me to my quest location a few “miles” away when I thought that enough had been enough. Clearly he still wanted some more, or he just wanted to try and talk. (Logically it would be the latter since he came up on his mount about five feet from the three of us.) Now, I don’t know who hit him first. He targeted Deco, probably to do a /rude gesture to her, and I saw both a shot and a glaive fly at him and he died again. I do /sorry and /cry again and threw in a /mourn for good measure. I know it looks sarcastic to most people, but I had mixed feelings. I don’t like to PvP and this was just plain unfair that two 110s ganged up on him, but it was also unfair that he was using his full hotbar to take me out when I literally have five moves that do minimal damage which only exist to get me through quests. 

Deco notices which guild he’s from and insults them because she knows them as a bunch of jerks and scrubs who think they’re hot shit. I forget who they are but it’s not important to me. Sounds like a PvP guild. The paladin’s body then turns to bones. That’s the sign that he had chosen to spawn at the grave with the Sickness. I move on with my life and Deco and her hubby take me to Blackwing for a mog run.

Dear Paraliser from whichever realm, probably WrA; I’m sorry it turned out like that, but I’m not a PvPer and we found it plain rude that you’d go for an easy kill like that. Magic wall of text GO

1. What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?

His full name is Marvin Achari. He chose Marvin because of his childhood nickname Magic. It looks kinda similar written. Though he isn't really sure anymore if chosing a western name out of spite was the right decision when he was younger. Manik is a pretty name too. 3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory? Family support is extremely important to him so I kinda don’t dare to give him anything but a good upbringing. Bc hes my boy and I don’t like characters being all sad. Especially since Magic has these issues of desperately needing attention and appreciation and if I took this from him from the start he would turn out to be a really desperate attention seeker from any source possible  with no selfworth. And that is harmful. Most fond memories are related to Amra taking a day or two off to just have some exciting family activities and trips rolling. She works a lot, and he is a mommys boy so these memories are kind of sacred. Bad memories would be invalidating related. Most of the time he just rolled with gender, but the moment he identified 100% as a guy his hobbies suddenly became too girlish, too flamboyant and kind of problematic. It’s kind of a bad experience for an early teen to have people suddenly treat you badly even though nothing really changed. Why is it suddenly bad that he isn’t a rowdy boy? Why is it suddenly bad to pay attention to your looks and care for your body? Why is it suddenly bad to like pink glitter nail polish? And that was a big contributor to why he was such a moodswingy clusterfuck his teen years. It was a weird limbo of wanting to get accepted by his peers at any cost and wanting to send a big fuck you to the world. 5. Do they have any siblings? What’s their names? What is their relationship with them? Has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults? Keskin and Magic would generally get along very well, but were prone to playfighting. Who was the strongest, who was the wittiest, trying to outsmart each other, you name it. Keskin is protective over her little brother and if someone picked on him, they would have to deal with a really pissed strong girl. Keskin also comes a lot more after Amra and has her calmer nature, so if Magic had an issue she would try to work through it with him. She was also his driver for quite some time until he could drive himself. In adulthood their relationship hasn't really changed. She still calls him fartface 6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate? Magic had his personal issues with school because he was an unbearing smartass who you had to convince to do his work. If you weren't a good and nice enough teacher you simply would not get him to do his work. But most of his issues he had stemmed from his friendship to Ben. Teachers who would seperate them because they were touchy feely or otherwise weird but not really problematic would get the entity of Magic's hate. He would try to verbally fight and discuss and stand his ground constantly. Amra had to be called often. Teachers who would pick on Ben would have the worst troublemaker in their class in form of the overly protective best friend. But to teachers who were understanding of their bond and nice, they would have two outstanding students and the sweetest kids in their class. It really depended on how you would treat them. Magic would eventually pursue college and study Communication and Media. 7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood? Magic knew basically everyone. And was friends with most kids. He still has it very easy aquiring new friends because of his easygoing and open nature. Theres friends from school, friends from his sports, friends from college, friends from his job, friends from his minijobs, friends he got to know through parties or clubbing. One special guy he knows is Ben, his best friend, who he got to know in kindergarten and ever since were joined at the hip. There's a lot of adoration and platonic love to the max going on. 8. Did they have pets as a child? Do they have pets as an adult? Do they like animals? Magic had birds ever since he was about 10 years old. Through a lot of begging. Starting his career he decides to not own birds for a little while, because he has no time to actively care for them to a degree he wants them to be cared for. Animals deserve a worthy life, yanno. 9. Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals? He's not the real animal guy, apart from birds. He mostly got his general animal knowledge trough being best friends with Ben. But he doesn't mind them. Caring for them on a non-commited basis is fun. Escept for horses, which he is very suspicious of. 11. Do they have any special diet requirements? Are they a vegetarian? Vegan? Have any allergies? Magic is like everyone in his family lactose intolerant. 15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking? Magic is pretty decent at cooking. Nothing too fancy but it is a solid base. He prefers to be cooked for, though. He likes doing  tasks in the kitchen that noone else wants to do, like washing up or peeling vegetables, but only if there is another person to chat. Otherwise he won't get his ass up.    16. Do they collect anything? What do they do with it? Where do they keep it? Friendships. But that’s too easy lmao. Magic is generally not too big on material possessions, I mean he is the kind of kid who lost every figure of every boardgame he ever owned and grew up filthy rich. It’s not like he doesn’t appreciate it but when you have the option do get things at any given time they kinda lose their value. He’s a big hoarder in video games, especially with money. He’s big on MMOs and he has to make sure all of his characters look absolutely stunning. He’s the kind of max-level roleplayer guy who owns all the fancy shit somehow. He’s not too big on material possessions but he has a weakness for useless mundane stuff like bird feathers or seashells or clothing of other people and he is embarassed to tell people about it so he mostly doesn’t. Hobbies that could get seen as weird and boring are locked away. He’s only loud about his flashy hobbies. All the shit he collects like some kind of nature hoarder mostly gets forgotten after the trip it was collected at. He never really does anything with it, and especially doesn’t want to display it. It’s just the fun of collecting and finding sweet stuff. He does have a weird knack for dumbass Tees and band tees. He also more or less collects these little festival arm ties. But these fall into the category of loud and flashy hobbies. 17. Do they like to take photos? What do they like to take photos of? Selfies? What do they do with their photos? You have no idea. Magic takes soooo many photos. Of things he finds ineresting, of other people, of animals he knows his friends like. He's also a chronic Instagrammer. He's really into keeping memories so whenever something interesting happens he demands a group selfie. Or just generally capturing the moment when noone pays attention. 24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress? Magic is a light boy so he has a soft matress. For the sake of a healthy back. He usually gets snoozy at around midnight to 1 am. He's an early riser so staying up super long isn't his usual thing. He prefers sleeping on other people. And if other people are not able to hang out he still has his habit of stealing clothes, which he uses as pillow covers just for the comforting smell. He also spoons his rolled-up blanket when hes alone. He doesn't snore but every now and then he talks in his sleep. 26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions? ALL. When he's really happy he can't contain all the happiness and kinda becomes a very excited Golden Retriever. doing a little dance?  yeaaa. Other reactions might include: Squeaking, flapping arms, excited chatter so quickly you can barely keep up, bobbing up and down like an idle animation, very tight excited hugs, kisses, hair ruffles, touching arms like "pap pap pap pap papapapap" 27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like they are sad? Magic curls up into a ball which is the polar opposite of his usual very open body language. With full-on knees drawn to body, arms wrapped around knees, face on knees action. He will have beautiful wet crying spots on his knees. The real difficulty is trying to make him uncurl bc as long as he’s armadillo-ing he’s keeping shit halfway together - which in itself wouldn’t be bad but he’s also overthinking with that and thats the bad shit. If you manage to make him uncurl he will go into gross crying and clawing at you bc oh god so many emotions and it hurts so much. he will really bawl his eyes out and wail 28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared? Being left behind by the people he considers his "homebase". When he has no people to come back to he gets very directionless and upset and will eventually resort to problematic behaviors to get peer recognition at any price. 29. What do they do when they find out someone else’s fear? Do they tease them? Or get very over protective? He will remember it for eternity. For when he might need it to verbally slaughter a bitch. But in all seriousness, it really depends on how your relationship to him is. If he dislikes you he will wait for such opportunities and weaponize it against you. He can be a real terror when he has a real grudge. Usually he just recognizes it, and if it's a dumb thing and with a friend he might tease. If it's something serious he will get all soft and comforty. 30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out? Magic loves excercise and needs it desperately. As a child he was into gymnastics, eventually he got into dancing. He will eventually pick up yoga and pole fitness. He's a very active boye. Pre-workout he's pumped as fuck. He's the kind of guy you would see doing little horse prances in hopes of getting to start soon. After workout he's hungry and more often than not dtf.    34. What is their body type? How tall are they? Do they like their body? Magic is a very long noodly boy. A pool noodle fursona. He's 179 cm tall. He generally likes his looks but in his opinion it would be cool if he actually managed to pack on a tiny bit of visible muscle. And if he actually grew denser arm hair. 35. What’s their guilty pleasure? What is their totally unguilty pleasure? His guilty pleasure kind of plays into his useless items collecting habit. Oh and he also picks his skin and gets a disgusting satisfasction from popping zits of blackheads. He knows he shouldnt. But. He also probably enjoyed the Twilight series, which is a sin in itself.

His unguilty pleasure is sex. He likes it, he’s not afraid to ask for it. He has no real shame regarding questions about it. He doesn’t give a flying fuck about the social stigma. It doesn’t have to be as complicated as people make it be, yanno.

36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?

His hobbies are his sports and also singing. He can sing very well, not worldclass superstar level, but still extremely good for an amateur. He eventually uses his "boyfriends boyfriend" privileges to get singing lessons from Nancy to kick it up another notch. 

37. Do they like to read? Are they a fast or slow reader? Do they like poetry? Fictional or non fiction?

He reads maybe comics himself. But for novels he really loved having them read to him. That makes him feel all cozy and comforted. 

38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?

He admires everyone with organisation skills. And people who can just sit down and do a thing. He can't do that, even though he wishes he could. He's a very flighty dude in what he considers worthy of doing. And as always he admired people who are kind, people who have a big heart. 

39. Do they like letters? Or prefer emails/messaging? 

Magic heavily prefers modern ways of communication. He's into texting. But loveletters are still a sweet gesture.

40. Do they like energy drinks? Coffee? Sugary food? Or can they naturally stay awake and alert?

Magic is a starbucks hoe. So yes he's into sugary stuff, and also what you could consider coffee. Enrgy drinks not so much because he doesn't like the smell of them. 

41. What’s their sexuality? What do they find attractive? Physically and mentally? What do they like/need in a relationships?

He's as homosexual as a guy can be. Full on homoromantic homosexual. Physically he loves a good gunshow, and he surely won't say no to oogling at a nicely toned back behind a pair of sunglasses. But he also loves the smaller dudes who just have that bit of spice in how they interact with the world around them. who are witty and quick to return banter. But he also loves the shy dudes who get all visibly nervous and cute, but react so well when they are happy. He is a guy of many tastes. Love many flavors of men. 

But generally he loves being able to play his wit and to have friendly playfights with a potential partner.

44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most? 

He loves spring and summer. Magic is not a fan of loomy lazy skies and fog. His favorite weather is clear sunshine, slightly overcast weather and summer rains. He's also a massive fan of thunderstorms, they make him feel super energized and pumped.

47. How do they act in a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?

Being a fancy boy and also socializing? Thats fun. Bring on the chitchat, it's time to get to know some gossip. 

48. Do they enjoy any parties? If so what kind? Do they organise the party or just turn up? How do they act? What if they didn’t want to go but were dragged along by a friend? 

He loves parties. His favorite kind of party is still music festivals, but he's also into private yard parties a lot. The chill kind of parties are the best. He prefers to just turn up, he doesn't have the neccessary organization skills for hosting most of the time.

And he is. The life of the party. He'll be off to chitchat wherever it looks interesting the most, he has no shame, especially after a few shots. Bring on the shitty or dirty jokes. He's a fun guy to be around with.

Hey there! I was thinking of starting Dexter's Lab, could you tell me anything about it? Thank you!

Welcome to the Laboratory! 

First, I should mention the basic stuff. Dexter’s Laboratory is a show on Cartoon Network made by Gennedy Tartakovsky  about a boy named Dexter who loves science and has a sister thats opposite of him but just as passionate about her own interests and loves her brother very much. Its one of the first pilots that got picked up during the “what a cartoon” show that showcased original programming pilots the public would vote on. 

It has four seasons and a tv movie, though two of those seasons are after the tv movie due to Gennedy tying it off after the movie and then CN picked it up for two extra seasons and put a whole new crew under Chris Savino in charge. This caused it to change to flash, hence the uncanny valley of designs and Dexter’s original VA, Christine Cavanaugh retired halfway through season 3, causing Candi Milo to be casted in replacement. 

The rest here is gonna be under the cut since I have ALOT to say about this. 

Obviously start at the first season, first episode and if anything seems not to your liking you don’t have to keep watching. IMO the first season is pretty weak with only 13 episodes and even then thats broken u into 3 seven minute segments or two eleven minute ones. Some noteworthy season 1 eps are “maternal combat” and a justice friends short involving val hallen losing his mighty axe. 

speaking of justice friends, they are a segment parody of heros, often the avengers and marvel type though the joker does show up in an episode as a mail man saying he’ll mail the president a giant bomb before Major glory stops him. Major glory is the leader and much akin to 1950s america so expect a slightly dated idea system. Val hallen is a viking god of rock who is just awesom and Krunk is.... just really innocent. hes no genius. they basically have mostly domestic adventures of not being able to do a simple task or become scared of a bee. Major glory is also allergic to white tiger, a black panther parody who is most likely an actual cat man or sorts. there are other minor justice friends but we mostly see krunk, MG and val hallen. the rest are used in bigger fights like “last but not beast” the season 2 finale. 

theres another segment called “dial M for monkey” where dexters pet monkey is actually a hero and befriends alien wrestler voiced by RANDY SAVAGE. his friend is agent honeydew and shes the smartest sweetest woman. shes beauty shes grace but she’ll kick you in the face. 

as for the show itself, seasons 1 and 2 focus alot on just happenings with science and dee dee being silly. though there are good bonding moments and alot of the comedy is either wordplay or slapstick akin to tom and jerry. theres even a parody of tom and jerry where dexter switches brains with a mouse and his mother finds him as said mouse which leads to a chase of cat and mouse. its one of the notable season 2 episodes. Expect alot of refernces to either outside pop culture at the time, or stuff within cartoon network of the time(such as a box of dog treats with scooby’s face!) 

the tv movie is just a book end to see how dexter will grow up with some dystopian future and imo the best showing of action and comedy gennedy has skill-wise next to “last but not beast”. it also has a very shocking and questionable scene that wouldn’t fly by today’s standards. 

seasons 3 and 4 were headed by chris savino and honestly not awful. Everyone quotes them as seasonal rot for the show but i disagree. they arent the same quality and the flash is a weird transition but outside of a few bad episodes they crew really did try to keep to dexter. this season also introduces a bit of contradicting canon such as mandark’s backstory and parents when the first season only had him as a rival that happened to love dee dee. this is where people get the theory he’s trans as well. dexters birthday is said to be in march but season 2 “a hard day’s day” says hes a capricorn, meaning his birthday is somewhere in dec-jan. dont think too much on these since its not that important in the long run, especially with his leprechaun uncle. Just be wary of “sore eyes”, that episode had a person from ren and stimpy on board which lead to comedy that does not fit with Dexter’s Lab sense of humor or design. 

A few notes also:

1. dont always trust the wikia for things because it is not 100% true. Dexter’s family’s last name has never been said in the show and “Mcpherson” was most likely made up or correlated to the MMO game “fusionfall” 

2. dont take everything so seriously. this show is quite dated for 1996(and 2001-2003) for society’s standards at the time. It hasn’t aged too well. 

3. Dexter’s accent is based off gennedy’s own experiences as a kid when his family immigrated to america and he learned from reading comics how english worked, and it fueled his love for comics. though he still had an accent at the time. 

4. yes theres a ppg reference in “star check convention of three miscolored ppg dolls at the doll convention and a dexter reference in “ploys r us” of the ppg where the professor steals a dexter and dee dee doll. 

5. craig and gennedy say their worlds arent connected but believe they’re connected all you want! bc i do. 

6. the blossom x dexter ship most likely started due to bleedman’s PPGD comic. read it if you want some anime styled cartoon crossover.
