so you’re asking for some prompt ideas :) that’s great ! i love your small dark comic and hope to do more (i love the lore) but i was wondering if you could the captain being angry or mad or smthg and hold dark wrists and says don’t. basically that scene in iswm. Or some Mack stuff thanks!
“I’ve almost got it, Captain!”
‘Take your time. No rush.’
OKAY ONE LAST DON’T MEME. ONE.
Also extra heads up, I won’t be making comics for every one of the requests I actually pick. I have no idea how I kept up the momentum, but I’m pretty close to hitting burnout again lmao.
(For the record I did want to do the Mack stuff, but this started as a sketched out meme and ended in a comic because I’m insane. Also vaguely inspired by one of my other asks which involved some of the characters playing cards at the end of the universe.)
Brushes:
- Jingsketch Clean Render (all sketching, painting, drawing, etc.)
- Random watercolor brush again (backgrounds)

✨ attention writer and artist mutuals!! ✨
the literary magazine at my university is currently accepting both art and writing submissions so if y'all have any original writing and/or artwork you'd like to submit, you should check it out - especially if you have pieces centered around themes like healing and/or self acceptance
here is the link to the submittable page!! (and the link to our website) submissions are open until october 31, so if you want to try to create something new, there's time for that as well!

Your recent tags made me realize that someday we're likely going to have to face some sort of remake for TPN. Why? Because the original will grow old enough to become a "classic" and they will want a newer generation to experience the same story that we grew up with. Sure the remake will likely not come close to how GOOD certain scenes in season 1 were. But the remake will have its OWN good scenes that we will come to cherish. And who are we to say "No" to letting a new generation experience this story?
Hmm! I’ve mentioned before how I was apprehensive about the matter, largely because of how much the presentation of S1 resonated with me and how the finale was expertly orchestrated for an incredible, emotionally satisfying payoff as an end note, but this ANN article by Jairus Taylor made me more optimistic about the idea after they argued the CloverWorks’ adaption doomed all subsequent seasons with the removal of internal monologues:
So while I absolutely adore the soundtrack and the atmosphere established by the original, I became more open to the idea that something new and worthwhile could be offered in remaking it while hopefully not suffering as much as the initial episodes of FMAB in terms of pacing. And this article made me believe that a remake isn’t entirely impossible:
Though with disappointing blu-ray sales for both seasons and S2 being the joke of Winter 2021, I’m not sure if any studio wants to touch it again for the time being:
Right now, while again I’m not against a hypothetical reboot despite my own bit of selfishness in not wanting to lose part of what made the series so enchanting and magical to me (it would absolutely gut me if they somehow didn’t have the rights to use Obata’s soundtrack and they came up with a new score for Isabella’s Lullaby), it seems “less greedy” to hope for a Shaman King situation:
where we would get maybe a standard volume’s worth or two of new chapters, with some time being invested in fleshing out the timeskips and/or more of the post-canon.

the problem with writing fanfic and why i kinda consider it to be a stepping stone for writers is it doesn’t really scratch the itch for full narrative building because of how much you’re borrowing from the source material. so when i’m feeling particularly despondent about my writing i Can use fanfic writing as a crutch to get into regular solo writing, but i also feel like i have to write more of it just to satisfy the same itch i get from when i write a solely-individually-derived short story that is significantly shorter. which is why i try to do less and less of it as i’ve gotten older because i feel like i’m also undervaluing my skills as a writer when i’m using someone else’s world to make my stories
(also before anyone gets on my ass, this is not me saying fanfic is lesser than original works. i just feel like, as a writer, i get more out of my work when i am building every inch of the story rather than taking from already established worlds and narratives that i had no hand in. and also i Do think fanfic is a stepping stone and good practice but it should be something you eventually step away from, as you develop as a writer. that is not to say that you cant do it--obviously you can do whatever you want--but i do think more people should try and dabble in their own original worlds because it is good practice and also a lot of fun)
