Can't help but wonder if maybe Yahya would have been better as a donkey instead of a horse because in the wild donkeys will go after and kill canines to avoid becoming their meal, thus in Beastars universe this could further increase the tension between him and Legoshi

I drew Yahya from memory! It’s been a long time since I’ve drawn furries. Sometimes I forget he’s a horse. My brain usually sees him as a hot Indian man.

What if during Chapters 126-129, Yafya asked both Legoshi & Gosha to help him capture Melon? At the night mask party, Yafya still catches Melon & cuffs him, plus Melon tricks Legoshi into freeing him while Yafya & Gosha are distracted. But when Gosha finds out Legoshi & Melon are gone, he tracks them outside. He sees Melon about to shoot Legoshi & interferes, resulting in Legoshi getting shot in the leg. When Melon shoots again, Gosha gets in front of his grandson, taking a shot to the heart.
Damn, right in the feels. Or Gosha's heart, I guess.
First things first, Legosi has only recently reconnected with Gosha, putting aside the animosity he held towards him. So there's definitely a sense of "I just got the last of my family back, why is this happening?"
I wouldn't be too surprised if Legosi, seeing this happen, just completely blanked out. Traumatic experiences can cause the brain to behave oddly, supressing memories and moving on pure instinct. That second bit is where I'm going next.
Legosi is very heavily wolf-tilted as a hybrid. He's 3/4 wolf to 1/4 komodo dragon, so it's the wolf instincts that will take precedence. And all his wolf instincts will be screaming "Threat to the pack!" at him, since Gosha was reaccepted as a pack member.
I don't see it ending well for Melon, tbh. Cheetah and gazelle are built for speed, not strength. Legosi is a wolf, a creature built for strength and endurance. If Melon started running, he might escape. But I think he'd stick around to taunt Legosi, and in turn Legosi would snap him like a twig. The bullet wound might slow Legosi, but I think the flood of adrenaline would result in "hysterical strength", the same as mothers lifting cars off their trapped kids, so the adrenaline would let him ignore it until after the fight.
Yafya might be able to hold Legosi back, but he's arrived just in time to witness his oldest, dearest friend get shot. He's more concerned with shouting for someone to call an ambulance and working feverishly to stop Gosha from bleeding out than he is with stopping Legosi from ripping Melon to shreds.
(After the fact, there is a lot that goes on, but Yafya helps Legosi avoid the heavier consequences for Gosha's sake.)
I'm certain that Melon dies in the aftermath, but I'm 50/50 on whether I want Gosha to die too or not. On one hand, there's the whole "he got shot in the heart" aspect, but then there's the "Yafya would've called an ambulance immediately and knows enough first aid to keep him from bleeding out while waiting for it" side.
Overall, I think as long as Yafya was on the scene almost immediately, Gosha survives, but if there's even a slight delay, it's not as likely. Either way, Melon dies. Legosi isn't taking grandpa getting shot well.
