So, I've had no one to talk to about this, then I remembered we're moots, so that legally makes you my friend.

Can we just talk about how Watatu is most likely to be self aware out of anyone, but also least likely to fight anything? I've always had this suspicion but I've been watching the anime recently, and he's totally willing to do things that will (or should) devastate him, but because it's part of the script.

Like, he knows you. He loves you more than anyone. But the script says he has a role to play. So he'll play his part and he'll play it gloriously.

Also!!!!! He says things like he's "everyone's Wataru". He doesn't belong to anyone. So it's just another reason that if he was self aware, he would play along. He's yours, but the both of you belong to everyone. So he must allow you to follow your own script to its completion.

Now I have to admit that my knowledge about Wataru is very limited so my interpretation of his character might be very off!

But yes, I think Wataru would be pretty quick to realize the whole truth of this being a game and you being the player. Both because of his experience with doing magic and how that requires performing different tricks. That probably enables him to see these kinds of "tricks" a bit better than other people. Also despite trying to act like a clueless clown in front of other people sometimes, Wataru is actually really smart and attentive, so I wouldn´t be surprised that he would figure all of this out pretty quickly.

And Wataru is indeed willing to play his role if he thinks that it is necessary for a better future/ a good outcome. I think that in elements for example, he did his "final performance" against fine even though he knew he would lose, because he probably believed that it was the necessary thing to happen. He strikes me as someone that does sometimes steps away from his own personal wants.

So once he realizes that he´s simply a character you play with, he wants to play that role as well as he can! He does it with so much passion, he wants you to pay attention to him and he wants ti impress you too.

All his life, Wataru has been a genius when it came to acting and performing tricks. Everyone told him so all his life and yet, time and time again people would start to become bored of his tricks eventually. But he doesn´t want people to abandon him so he keeps trying to do more and more impressive stuff, just to keep people watching, looking at him. ( at least that is what I remember from reading phantom thieves vs detectives like 2 years ago)

So I think it would be much the same here. He doesn´t want to be forgotten by darling so he keeps doing more and more attention grabbing things, in the hopes that they won´t turn away.

And yet, when he sees someone that is close to him enamored with you, he´s conflicted and Wataru starts stepping away, even though it breaks his heart.

I have no doubt in my mind that Wataru would start slowly giving up on you if Eichi, anyone in fine or any of the eccentrics started showing an interest in you. Tomoya and Hokuto for that manner too, probably. He´s ready to play the role of a hopeless clown, a smile on his face as he watches you being swept away by someone else.

AND lately ive been thinking about this scenario with a gn reader and yan wataru who has been crushing hardly on wataru but is also extremely ...dumb (?) and cant realize he has very extremely strong feelings towards them as well despite all his remarks and all his eccentric ways of showing his emotions towards the reader. they're also kind of too dumbfounded to realize maybe his actions are sort of not good most of the time. but theyre just so in love with him yknow! you can also do this scenario with leo if you also will be nice enough to save me from my actual horrible wataru rot im not even kidding. maybe i would prefer it with leo but i already typed all of this out. help. and i think leo would be more interesting to write as a yandere if you would go w him for this idea. he also wouldnt really think much of his actions i guess、rather just... he thinks its normal?? and arashis just there like ohhh youre so whipped leo san ^^ no girl hes ready to commit several murder crimes. okay ill stop talking THANK YOU IN ADVANCE IF YOULL DO THIS AND HOPE ITS NOT TOO HARD TO FOLLOW 🙏🙏🙏

Wataru skips through the halls of the ES building holding a lovely red rose in his hand, thinking of giving it to the one he "loves", or rather, you! He thinks you're the most amazing person to ever exist! He adores you, he needs you so much! But, he keeps telling himself you might not accept the gifts he gives you, if they keep coming, but it's okay.

He makes his way into your room and once he burst through the door, he sent doves flying out and rose petals fell gracefully everywhere. Wataru has one of his favorite masks on, and he took that off before walking over to you and giving you a little kiss on the cheek. "Here you go! Lovely isn't it? I grew this rose along with it's bush by myself, so practically I put my blood, sweat and tears into it!"

He said with a blush on his face, you accepted the rose and put it in your hair. Not knowing he actually did put all of that and all his effort for this gift. But how? Well, earlier when the roses haven't bloomed yet and it was much of just a shrub before, Wataru saw you over with a note, assumingly a love letter. It had many hearts on it, and when you left it alone he read it and it was.

He admits you were absolutely gorgeous, but you were only his. He saw that person near the roses he was currently growing back then, and he fought him. Even maybe accidentally sending him to the hospital. Wataru didn't mean to do that you know, but it was the other person's fault. They should've known not to do that, besides Wataru was always with you and held your hand aswell.

He really loves being with you! But he just can't see how much he does love you, he cares about your well-being more than his own, he would break his ribs if he had to just see you be at your happiest! And he snapped back to reality to walk outside, with you! He opened the door gently for you and you smiled at him, which made his heart melt! He feels so overjoyed with you.

You were going to a little meeting with a few new staff, and Wataru thinks you might like them more than him; why? Because you'll get to see them more than him. After that meeting, a few hours have passed and he didn't get anything at all from you, no news or whatever. He worried for you and went to look out. And there he stood in shock. In the main office you were talking to one of them, laughing along with the compliments you've received from them.

But that wasn't what hurt him the most. His rose that he gave you was on the floor, petals were missing it looks like it has been stepped on. He moved aside to an area where he was more visible and signaled you to come with him, for a bit. As soon as you two weren't in any sight of others, he pulled you to a darker corner and pinned you to the wall harshly.

He tried to explain calmly that he wouldn't like to see you hanging out with them being all sappy and shit, but you simply said to him that it was all just friendly chatting. "It's not what you think! Sooner or later, they'll get to you first, rather than me..." he shot back at you, tightening up his grip on your arms. You saw him, he was pleading it to you, begging even.

You just nodded and stuttered out a yes. He let go of your hands and said a sorry real quick. He kissed your forehead and held your waists and pulled you closer to himself, and continued to embrace you in his arms. After awhile, you two went back to the lighted up halls of the building. And before Wataru left, his hair gave you another rose, this time it looked unique.

It wasn't all just red, but white and it looked like it has "paint splatters" or a nice vermilion color. You thanked Wataru and promised to take better care of this one, you'll try your best at it. He smiled and went off, but as you thought that he left, he peeked back into the door leaning sideways; "I will be watching over you! Until I die, I will dedicate my life to you!" You were a bit confused by the watching over part, but you shrugged it off thinking nothing of it.

You can't tell if doing that was right or wrong.

Man, all these self aware/isekai enstars asks got me thinking about how each characters would specifically interact with you. Like I can’t begin to imagine having brain power to hold a conversation—what if it was Leo? Bright in the morning, clock hasn’t indicated anywhere near 9 am, and there’s only solace in the taste of bitter coffee on your tongue. Your eyelids feel heavy, but the babbling doesn’t stop. Leo is too overly excited, but he knows not to be pushy—err, well at least he thinks he is. You just think he’s compensating the physical aspect by clamouring all over you with words. After 10 minutes of it, somehow, you manage to excuse yourself. Maybe sit it out in the bathroom stall to let the tears well up in your eyes. Asking the tense murmur of your heart, what ever went wrong because all you feel is desperation, but for what? To get out of here? Or are you just desperate to force yourself to get used to it? You don’t know, and the fact that you don’t, makes the coffee wear off for the second time and you’re already contemplating another round of one.

By the time you turn a corner, another one is already there ready to feed off of your attention. You don’t bother to register who it is. Would it be Wataru? Someone like him is always ready with a sonnet to recite, expressing his heart to you. Maybe someone like Mayoi, the one boy who’d always kiss the floor you walk upon, then his voice would quiver if you even spared a passing glance. What about Eichi himself? He’d be presentable, tolerable. He’d talk smooth and careful, each words precise like his stature. But both of you, mainly him, know better when he lets his gaze linger a little too long on your face and wander too far. Whoever would it be, would it change a thing? You doubt it, because there’s someone always there.

I think it´s really accurate for them too, Leo definitely is the kind of person that would talk your ear off for possibly hours on end if you don´t manage to excuse yourself somehow, and then claps himself on the shoulder for not having jumped into your arms as soon as he saw you for once. See, he´s being really considerate and taking your words to heart so he´s trying his best to not overwhelm you too much! Isn´t he doing a great job?

Wataru is super dramatic about everything he does and he would probably be no different when it comes to you. Watch him literally write an entire script and then act out the entire play by himself right in front of you to show you how much he adores you. I would literally die, methinks💀 And right after you just managed to evade Leo too! When will you ever be able to rest in this school?

It looks like never because oh boy, of course, Mayoi followed you through the vents and is already watching you from the corner as soon as you finally fended off Wataru. At least he´s less obnoxious and loud as the former two as he mostly keeps to himself but he still gives you the creeps. The way he stares at you so reverently and with a bright blush on his face but the second you turn to look at him he squeaks like a mouse and apologizes for being so dirty as if he hadn´t just so blatantly stared at you without a shred of decency. It´s unnerving and you swear you had seen his shadow once when you woke up in the middle of the night. Mayoi might be a timid and harmless one for the most part but that doesn´t mean you necessarily like being with him more than the others.

And then, to make matters worse, you come across Eichi. Eichi, who is always so put together and knows how to word things to get his way. He doesn´t seem very different when he is with you, he speaks very calmly and you´d like to say that it´s a welcome change of pace but you can´t help but think that there´s something off about him nonetheless. The way he always smiles at you no matter what and how his gaze lingers a bit longer than it should, the way he nonchalantly lays a hand on your shoulder to gently guide you to come with him. How the grip on your shoulder tightens ever so slightly and his elegant smile strains whenever the both of you pass someone else in the hallway. The knowledge that Eichi has all the money and influence one would need to make you disappear forever and have no one search for you.

It´s scary and you don´t know how much longer you can put up with this.
