Casey spins in his chair.

“This is cool,” he hums, happily. “We don’t have… spinny chairs in the future.”

“A shame,” Donnie mumbles. “I’m so sorry.”

He continues soldering.

Casey continues spinning.

“By the way,” Donnie says, half-absentmindedly, “you never did tell me more about my future. I’m extremely curious. You said ‘one of the most brilliant scientific minds ever’?”

Casey giggles. “Yep. I sure did.”

“Tell me more,” Donnie coos. “I’m listening. My beautiful brain can listen and work at the same time.”

Casey smiles at him, and picks at his nails awkwardly.

You’re dead. You died. Heroic, beautiful sacrifice. Dead.

“Everyone uses your tech,” he says. “Well, everyone in the resistance. You worked so hard for hours and hours and hours making weapons, and armor, and gadgets, and… and everyone uses them. Your name is kind of a word, actually. If you call someone a ‘real Donatello’ it means that they’re smart, or crafty, or good with machines.”

Donnie breaks into a devious grin.

“Oh, I like that,” he says. “A ‘real Donatello.’ We’re going to tell my brothers about that.”

He falls silent for a moment, and Casey chews on his nail.

Dead, he thinks again, dead dead dead dead dead

“By the way,” Donnie starts, in a voice that’s so so loud and confident Casey immediately recognizes it as his I-am-very-nervous voice (His Donnie had used this voice often), “um, by the way. Not to try to invade her privacy, or her future. I just want to know. Y/n. How do things turn out with me and Y/n? You see, we’re dating, currently, and I do really like her, but I’m scared. Horrendously scared. (That means very scared. You looked confused, right there. Horrendously scared means very scared.) I’m frightened of her and I’m frightened of her caring about me and I’m frightened of the way I care about her. So, um. I’m wondering. Is it worth it? Does it pay off? Will we… you know, end up together? Old and gray? Or will she leave me? Will I get too annoying for her, or does she stop needing me, or --”

“She loves you.”

Donnie pauses, his soldering iron hovering just above his work. “She does?”

“She does. She loves you.”

Casey hears Donnie let out a small subconscious breath of relief, and he curls his fingers around themselves, and continues.

“Do you… do you want to hear more?” he asks, and Donnie nods slightly.

“You get married,” he says. “You’re together for three years and then you get married. Like you said, afraid of love, right? So you would have taken longer than three years, I bet, except that the world has been overrun by Krang overlords, and she almost dies, and then you ask her to marry you. So then you get married. And you’re very very happy together. All the aunties coo about it, ya know? How perfect you two are.” He smiles softly. “Perfect together.”

Donnie is working at his tech, his fingers shaky, and finally he just sets it down and turns to face Casey, pulling off his protective gloves and flipping up his goggles.

“Married,” he says, dreamily, and his cheeks are flushing red. “So she likes me? She really does? And she stays with me.”

“She stays with you.”

“Oh my GALILEO. OH MY --”

Casey can’t help smiling as he watches his uncle fumbling over his words and fumbling over his own body as he tries to figure out what to do with himself. He finally just tumbles off of his chair and shrieks on the floor, giggling, raising all of his limbs to the sky in celebration.

“We get MARRIED,” he announces to the ceiling, letting himself relax against the floor. “Mr. and Mrs. Hamato. That’s my WIFE. Don’t you touch my WIFE. Get your hands off of my WIFE.”

Casey chuckles slightly.

Dead dead dead dead dead you’re both dead you’re both dead dead dead dead dead

“That’s so awesome,” Donnie hums. “Oh my blueberry cream cheese muffins. I feel… bubbly inside. I… I do like her. Very much. I care for her, so much. And I know she cares for me but it’s still… hard to comprehend. Hard to believe. But she marries me. She marries me.”

She dies in your arms.

“She marries you,” Casey repeats, feeling his muscles start to tense.

You’re dead. You’re both dead. You’re all dead.

Donnie stares at the ceiling, limp and happy.

“Maybe I should tell her the extent of my care for her,” he says, slowly. “Maybe I should let myself open up like that. To her. Starting now. Not waiting for years. Not waiting until I’m ‘ready.’ Just telling her now. I know she’s ready for it now. She is.”

Casey picks at his nails some more, his brain fighting with his heart. Donnie deserves to know, one of them argues, and the other screams back. They’re red-hot and furious, warring inside of his body, silent and fuming and destructive.

“Does… does she seem happy? With me?”

“So happy.”

“And she loves me?”

“So much.”

Donnie rests his hands on his chest.

“Casey?” he says, quietly. “I’m sorry. I know, I know, I know that this is the worst possible thing to ask. But, um, you’re from the end of the world. How… how long does she last?”

Casey shushes both his brain and his heart and lets the tongue take over.

“Why do you assume the end of the world means everyone dies?” he huffs. “I’m still here!”

His brain and his heart start yelling at him again.

Donnie props himself up on his elbows.

“Casey. Please. I want to know. I need to know. I don’t know why, I just… I just do. How much time do I have with her? I need to know.”

“You -- you have a good life with her, okay? Why --”

“So she does die,” Donnie says, quietly. “She dies. How? When? How old is she? What happens?”

“Donnie, I don’t think this is a good --”

“Tell me,” Donnie says. “Please. I won’t tell her. I just… I just want to know how long we’ll have.”

Casey lowers himself off of his own chair, and sits cross-legged on the ground in front of Donnie, who’s already pulled himself up into a sitting position. Donnie stares at his hands and picks at his sleeves and rocks, back and forth.

“I’m ready,” he says.

“Donnie, are you --”

“I’m ready,” he says.

Casey inhales. He’s been wanting to tell him this, anyway. About his death. About all of their deaths. He thinks that Donnie deserves to know. He thinks that they all deserve to know.

“She dies from a Krang infection,” he says. As soon as she saw the biogrowth seeping into her body from the bloody, gory gash left in her thigh, she gasped and screamed your name.

You desperately fumbled in your medkit for the antidote. But you’d run out. You’d used it all in the battle.

You looked up at her. She saw it in your eyes.

Kill me, she begged, grabbing your wrists. Please. Kill me.

You refused, your heart pounding, your hands shaking. You wouldn’t kill her. You wouldn’t kill your wife, the love of your life. You wouldn’t. You couldn’t. How could you ever face yourself again?

Donnie, she begged. Please. PLEASE.

You shook your head, and she began to mutate. Tentacles rippling along one of her arms, and she shrieked with pain.

DONNIE, she screamed, DONNIE, PLEASE.

And you plunged your dagger into her heart.

Twisted. Pulled. Stabbed again, and again, and again, until her blood streamed hot and red over your hands and the tentacles stilled.

Donnie, she whispered, her mouth beginning to bleed. Donnie.

And she touched your face with one trembling hand.

I love you, she whispered. I love you, Donnie. I love you.

And you didn’t tell her that you loved her back. It haunts you, it haunts you, it haunts you. But her blood was still painting your hands and the sick was swelling in your throat and you didn’t speak and you felt her heart slow and stop, felt the blood stop running.

You turned and vomited until you could not think.

Donnie stares at him, his eyes big.

“A Krang infection,” he whispers.

“It’s very common,” Casey adds. “Sorry, I know that doesn’t make it better at all, just --”

“What about me?” Donnie asks.

“Oh, that I won’t tell you the specifics of,” Casey says.

“But I do die.”

“Yes.” He tightens his fingers around his knees. “Yes, you do die. After her. You get her for her entire life.”

You died in battle. Fiery sacrifice. You didn’t think twice about rushing into danger, anymore. The resistance still needed you, desperately, but you were drowning too deeply in your own grief to pay attention to anyone but yourself.

You sacrificed yourself, and died. Took out quite a few Krang, and an entire armory, but yourself as well. You were sorely missed by your two remaining brothers, and April, and, of course, me.

Donnie stares at his hands, flexing them, turning them over and over.

“You get so much time together,” Casey offers. Like a man extending a dried chicken bone to a starving dog.

Donnie pounds one fist against the side of the nearest desk.

“Stupid Krang!” he shouts. “Taking her from me! Taking our future from us! This is why we need to stop them. To stop this. To stop any of this. So many people lost their families to the Krang, right?? So many! And we need to stop that! So we can have a normal future! So EVERYONE can have a normal future!” He crosses his arms over his chest and hunches over. “I just… I just want a normal future with her. Three kids, a mansion, summers in Venice, fourteen Nobel prizes, complete acceptance into society as a mutant and hybrid mutant-human family. That’s all I want. Heck, I’d take the suburbs! Just for her! And instead I get a dum-dum Krang future with a dum-dum tragic end to our dum-dum happy marriage! No happily ever afters for Donnie, no siree, and none for Y/n especially. Don’t get too comfortable with her, Donnie, she’s going to die anyway. You’re going to die anyway. Ugh.” And he rests his face on his knees.

“But you’re happy?” Casey tries, desperately. His heart is pounding. He feels so, so useless. And bad. Look at Casey, bad bad harbinger Casey, bringing us prophecies of doom that he’s personally seen fulfilled. Why didn’t he just keep his big fat mouth shut?

Donnie lifts his face to look at Casey. There are tears in his eyes, hot angry tears.

“But we die,” he whispers.

“You die anyways.”

“But we die early.”

“But you’re happy. It’s the end of the world, Donnie, and people are dying all around you, and the Krang have taken over everything, and you’re sleeping in caves and eating rats and you and Y/n are together and you’re happy and you’re a little bit of light in each other’s dark, dark apocalyptic world! Don’t you see?? You’re so happy together!! Without each other, you’re so… so BROKEN! When she died, you were so BROKEN! No light inside! No life inside! And then YOU DIED and it was ALL SO BAD but, see, the times when you were together?? THAT’S what mattered! You being together! You were so happy!! So good together!!”

Donnie’s eyes are big.

“I think I need a moment to myself,” he mumbles, and Casey awkwardly stands up and leaves.

Hi! Hope you’re doing great! What is Graves and Sweetheart’s relationship like?

Hello! I'm absolutely wonderful 🫂💓 I hope you're doing good as well!

And uh- messy 🧍‍♀️💀 AHA

Graves and Sweetheart do NOT get along. The betrayal never happened because I like being happy, and he's honestly just annoying to Sweetheart 😕

Sweetheart: Graves? Oh yeah, he's... uhm.

Alex: Say something nice.

Sweetheart, rubbing her temples: I'm finding it.

Alex, in disbelief: ... It takes you that long to find something to say?

Sweetheart: It does. It really does.

When Graves met Sweetheart, he came on TOO strong. Lust was guiding him and it made Sweetheart uncomfortable. He was too close (and too basic)

AND not to mention he insulted her family-- calling them weirdos and hillbillies. (And criminals cause her aunt is in jail, but we ain't gonna go into that in this ask because it's in another one LOL) So that just turned her off COMPLETELY and then she just overpowered him by yelling and threatening him. And (this may be weird but idc) Graves fell in love with her anger PPFFTTT he felt small when her eyes looked like they were on fire, and like they were trying to set HIM on fire (and it was, just not physically 😏) she finishes off with a "fuck you, you mayo yee-yee fishstick" with a bird to the sky and walks off.

He's just standing there.

And that's how they met!! LMAO (He saw her in the offices and then that happened 👆HA)

But basically for their dynamic, for Sweetheart it's Enemies to Enemies

And for Graves it's frienemies to lovers 💀💀

(The reason I say freinemies is because Graves has saved Sweetheart a couple of times and vice versa. So they kinda have a clean slate? But only Graves thinks that and Sweetheart saves him so she doesn't have to explain what happened to Shepard cause she hates him too 💀💀)

And it's so funny to me because Graves is all like "you need to listen to me" and Sweetheart is always like "You're not my capitan or my team so no fuck you"

I love writing them and it's just comedy and ANGST LMAO (Maybe one day they'll have a good moment. Mmmaayyyybeee)

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have?

because he's handsome? and he has a great personality? haha, memes aside, I love Fallen Order and Survivor. at first, I shit you not, I didn't wanna play Fallen Order because of that GIANT! STUPID! FROG! so I stopped playing but started to really love Cal because I thought he was super cute? and then I was like, "Yeah, no, I can't keep talking about him without having played the game," and was even more motivated to finish it with Survivor coming around the corner.

the reason why I chose him is because of his internal battles. (I'm trying to keep this as spoiler-free as possible!) his internal battles made his character more relatable, and him always feeling like he has to do more than he needs to, like he feels like he needs to carry the weight of the galaxy on his shoulders? i deeply related to that and I think, loving and writing cal, he has taught me to be more patient and more kind to myself. and oh my god he's so handsome.

is there anything you don’t like to write? i used to be afraid of writing action because I felt like i'd be unsure of how to write it, but I've come to love writing action! i can't exactly think of anything I don't like writing. um I'm just a little nervous about writing nsfw but I think if I'm comfortable with my writing partner, then I can give it a shot! me, writing nsfw: what position are they in again?? UHHH but I know I can write smut, I'm just a little nervous that it won't be enjoyable for both parties omg.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? ANGST. AAAAAAAANGST!!!!! AND ROMANCE!!!! i find these facets of rp so so fun. hence why I'm always happy to ship if there's chemistry! i feel like angst helps me explore the character's nature more do a deep dive into the why behind things. WHEN IT HURTS THE HEART YOU KNOW THAT SHIT IS THE GOOD SHIT.

how do you come up with headcanons? it's almost like they come to me lol. i like to think a lot, especially on the verses I am passionate for. like the grand inquisitor cal verse is my absolute favorite and it's so full of angst that it's super fun to just sit back and think about what he would be like in that verse. i just let headcanons come to me naturally while I think about my muses. sometimes I draw inspiration from media, like film or shows. the loth-wolf idea was inspired by art I've seen of princess Mononoke (which I need to watch) and the rebels show? i just want to give cal a GIANT DOGGO to tell the doggo to SICK 'EM.

do you write in silence or do you play music? both! i can do either. music can inspire me.

do you plan your replies or wing them? both. i like to plot with my partners the set up and wing the rest. whatever feels natural. sometimes I have ideas of things I want to include in my replies beforehand, but other than that it's all trial by fire, baby.

do you enjoy shipping? YES, DUDE. i am also open to platonic ships? i just love doing fluffy stuff. i love making cal the dense dumb ass I headcanon him to be. i want him to be a gentleman too, as he is! like he'd give his jacket to his partner. Twenty Questions for Fic Writers

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Just 8, but it's about to increase! ;)

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

58,767!

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Legend of Zelda - All BOTW so far. I have some ideas for other Zelda games but they remain as ideas for now.

I also have a short Marvel story from my Steve/Bucky days circa 2013.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Shadows - An Epistolary Poem from Steve Rogers to Bucky Barnes

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Absolutely! I am a sucker for attention and I love talking about stories with people.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh DEFINITELY That child of mine. It's not even finished yet but there is some goooood angst coming, and I already know how it's going to end (I've actually written a good chunk of the finale already) and it's gonna be heartbreaking.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably A chance enounter? They get each other's number and the promise of a cute date.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! I've only gotten some (requested) constructive criticism. I do have a fic planned that I anticipate being kinda contentious? But I'm already planning on limiting comments on that one lol.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yee! I've never written anything hardcore but I do really like writing and reading sexy scenes. I'm not much of a PWP kind of person (give me all of the emotional context) but I'm a big believer that sex and intimacy are fundamentally human experiences and can serve a story in so many beautiful and interesting ways.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I continue to chip away at my Deep Space 9/TotK crossover idea. It's gonna happen one day... maybe...

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope, but maybe I'll try re-writing one of my stories in French sometime as a project.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No but I would LOVE to. The closest is when B and I collaborated and I wrote a story and she did the art.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Zelink, definitely. People whose souls are inextricably bound to one another and keep finding each other, lifetime after lifetime? That's the good shit right there. Obsessed.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

The story that walked into my head that made me start writing. It's a crazy ambitious story - Basic premise is that instead of the Sheikah technology being banned by the ancient king, the Sheikah themselves were banished from the lands of Hyrule. In the interim, Hyrule has been through many wars, dynasties and factions have all risen and fallen, and the bloodline of the Goddess has been forgotten. No one remembers any of the old stories. Zelda is a farm girl training to become a healer like her mother, Link is the son of the king who won the throne after lead a successful campaign against the Zora, and into all of this comes a young Impa, drawn back to Hyrule after thousands of years away, tormented by visions of calamity, a prophecy her people have passed down for millenia, knowing that Hylia would recall them to the land of their ancestors when the time was right. It's anti-monarchy, it's about climate change, it's about falling in love and renouncing power in order to fulfill a greater purpose, it's about knowing yourself, it's about righting ancestral wrongs, and I do not think it will ever be finished but I do like to come back to it every once in a while.

Coming up with interesting concepts!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Executing interesting concepts?

But in all seriousness, I know I still have a lot to learn as a writer. I'm overly descriptive, I have long run-on sentences, dialogue tags are my nemesis, and I struggle to write with real depth of character.

I do think I'm a good storyteller. I am just still honing those skills.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think it's great! I am obsessed with conlangs - I think they're so fucking cool. For writing in existing languages, as long as you're familiar with the language, or getting someone to look it over and not just running things through google translate, I think that's wonderful.

Captain America.

What fandoms do you write for?: MASH, X-Men, Transformers, and Star Wars primarily, with a few other fandoms mixed in as the spirit moved me :3

What are your top five fics by kudos?: Matched Set (DBH), Turn, Turn (Sandman/Old Guard), Better Than I Know Myself (Moon Knight), Resolute (Star Wars), Expedient Means (DBH)

Do you respond to comments? Honestly not usually. It just wasn't much of a thing in the corners of fandom I came up in, so I never formed the habit or expectation. I do appreciate all comments and periodically try and go through and respond, especially to very nice ones!!

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Come and See (Hannibal) ends with murder/suicide...

What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Genuinely don't know. I feel like a lot of my fics have tonally similar endings, where they're happyish or hopeful, but there's an element of uncertainty of bittersweetness...

Do you get hate on fics? No.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Ahaha... Yee. Pretty much exclusively gay or robot sex. This year I descended fully into The Id Vortex which was genuinely a psyche changing experience in a positive ways highly recommend.

Do you write crossovers? I had forgotten the Sandman/Old Guard fic was a crossover until I looked up my fics by kudos XD

Have you ever had a fic stolen? No

Have you ever had a fic translated? No

Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No

What's your all time favorite ship? TrapHawk was a primordial OTP that has fully taken over my brain kdjdjd...

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Only You Can Find Me or as I call it X-Men Band AU... I fully have like 4 acts outlined, and very elaborate backstories for all the characters in the AU, but it took a lot of research into really weird stuff to actually write, and it just got to be overwhelming, and I kind of lost confidence/momentum in it...

What are your writing strengths? I don't know how to describe it. I think I'm pretty solid? And I have read enough I know what annoys me and I don't do those things XD I think I generally do a good job of keeping things in character and clearly motivated, I think I do a good job setting and maintaining a tone, and I try to be pretty intentional with the scenes I write. I also am pretty fast once I get going.

What are your writing weaknesses? I have a bad habit of "listing" (and this happened and this happened and this happened), and I think I don't elide as much as I could. I also worry about being too introspective or self-indulgent, and I think I have a pretty specific writing style and I always worry my narrators sound too similar. I also do 90% of my writing on my phone so I'm locked in eternal battle with typos and autocorrect correcting the wrong thing.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I indulge in this sometimes- was having a little too much fun with the sci-fi conlangs in Star Wars fic lol. Reason I'm asking is because I want to write a massive lore update that gives them a bit more history and origin but I don't want to mess up headcanons people already had.

I have a few headcanons of my own that I'd be down to share, unfortunately it's pretty late and I got work tomorrow but I would love any excuse to share them, I totally will next time I have free time. So probably tomorrow if I don't forget oof

(Also, once again not a writer so my advice probably isn't the best, but I don't think you'd be messing up anyone's headcanons by writing it slightly differently or contradicting with some ppls. Like I think going around asking abt ppls headcanons for ideas to flesh out your lore is a really good idea! But making it somehow fit everyone's headcanons at the same time sounds like it would be really difficult and not that much fun. What I'm trying to say is write whatever /you/ want to. But thats just my opinion lol)

Uhhhh... Hello! Greetings! and Salutations! random person of Tumblr! You've stumbled either on this post, or you decided to check on my Blog in whichever case, Hi, make yourself at home.

I am Bartibit, or Barti - A random internet person who wanders around the interweb, trying to find the place that suits them. Shy in person, Introverted from hell and back, trying to find non-toxic side of the internet. I've only recently stumbled on here, quietly watching to see if this site is to my liking after... whatever the fuck is happening on Twitter / "Nobody will call it 'X' Musk". Yes I'm a Twitter Refugee (woe me). And from so far I've observed, I really like it here, so this post is more for me, finally breaking ice.

I actually have a lot of interests, so follow me at your own discression, I will be unapologetically me, I will vent, I will post about my interests, I will make typos, I will share my accomplishments, I will post random sketch once in blue moon. I will randomly fixate on some series, I will post about my thoughts. Maybe you'll find something new, I don't know. I will be fucking random because my mind does not know how to segue naturally. I will probably have reflex on liking instead of reposting which I'm sorry about, I will fight the demons of not reposting.

I am a digital artist, mainly doing some silly doodles and seldom full pieces. I drawed comics in my addolecense instead of studding, making me also interested in storytelling. I dabbled in flash cs6 animation, video editing, writing reviews/video essays (i'm kinda bad at them) and making source maps for TF2 and CSGO.

I also play a lot video games, like I am obsessed with this medium; I love it, it's my entire personality because it carried me through a lot of hardships. I mainly play on PC, as I find it the most comfortable, most flexible and I already have most of my hobbies be tied to computers.

I also have interest in computers and coding (I can do basic C/C++ stuff), currently studing computer science, I like math. Maybe want to make games one day; I am interested in game design, design decissions and discussion - I just find it neat!

I like stories, like everybody else lol Movies, Series, Animation, Anime, Webcomics, I even look after good unique stories in video games.

(rambling brick of text inbound) Zombie apocalypse anon back again! Just wanna say first off that was the nicest answer I could've asked for lmao. I totally agree that in general the flaws in the genre are a case of missed potential and shallow writing; in fact that can apply to most mainstream dystopian stories imo. (TLOU and many Miyazaki films are strong exceptions to this rule ofc)

For me, the biggest draw of the dystopia/apocalypse genre has always been the human aspect---how humans as *individuals* cope with the worst-case scenarios, how they work together to survive, how they thrive in spite of their situation. Too many stories paint an incredibly pessimistic picture of the apocalypse, for example assuming that people would turn on each other and lose their collective moral compass. I think the opposite is true personally, and more stories should be about the indomitable human spirit (or whatever lol)

Having said that---you also make a great point about the more scientific/worldbuilding potential in zombie (and similar) apocalypses. From a writer's pov, it's so fun to think about HOW these things work and building the scariest possible monster/disease/etc xD And it makes the story so much more immersive!!! I'm glad you brought up the Rat King from tlou2 because holyyyy buckets that thing scared the heck out of me but in the *best* way lmao.

Also thanks for the movie/anime recs! Always hunting for more quality content like this :D

[and rambling wall of text be upon yee] YES YESSS!!! Good apocalypse (&dystopia stories) so freaking difficult to find I usually don’t indulge in them as much cuz of it -w- exceptions that it’s synopsis is unique enough or the thing is written just too good to pass up

I totally agree with you with humanity being the genre’s biggest draw-in, honestly surprised how little of it is in mainstream. And that’s such an interesting take on the apocalypse - bringing out the strongest qualities in people and strengthening the bonds between others even in the worst of situations ,,, I like that :] I’ll keep that in mind when I write. and to vouch more for Gakkou Gurashi without spoiling anything it does a good job being an example of it done right(?)

--Admittedly tho the negative aspect of humanity is also my draw to apocalypse scenarios, seeing how messed up something so despairing can change a person for survival but at the same time too much of it or it written in the wrong way can get jarring very quickly. I like how the weight of one’s principles and emotional baggage extremifies (?) when going into the apocalypse and how it could greatly influence their actions and motives later down the line - good or bad. Survival and all that..

Blue Lock: My comfort show/absolute brainrot fandom right now. Any characters will do- though admittedly I'm incredibly biased towards the fearsome four (Isagi, Chigiri, Kunigami, Bachira) but yee- give me some characters and a prompt when they're open and I'll gladly write it! :D

Demon Slayer: I feel like I write for this one alot but I just really love Demon Slayera kjrajkerjerkaj. Admittedly I'd love to get some more prompts with the Kamaboku squad (Tanjiro and friends)- I love writing the Hashira/12 Kizuki (sans Muzan) and will always do so- I just also really miss writing for Tanjiro lols. I'll have to start working up ideas for them aoerajkrjkarjk

Sk8 The Infinity: The absolute JOY I feel whenever I get to write for these dorks arekajraerkarker It's a bit rare these days but not uncommon! I love the characters so much- the potential for tickly shenanigans is unstoppable!

a big thank yee to @kaylinalexanderbooks who tagged me in this thingy! I read your post btw and we share so many things in common I can't believe I haven't asked you to be my best friend sooner :). Anyway, here it is!

Are you named after anyone? Yes, actually. I'm named after my mom's best friend from college who has unfortunately passed away, but she was the best. She and I share the same love for helping people, and I wish that I had gotten to meet her in person.

When was the last time you cried? This afternoon. I've been reading through The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien and it's both one of the best and most depressing books I've read this year.

Do you have kids? Do my pets count? Otherwise nope lol. (although my bearded dragon acts like a child most of the time)

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Ummm...yes. that is my main sense of humor as well as my main coping mechanism (please don't tell my psychiatrist this, she will hunt me down and drag me to therapy).

What's the first thing you notice about people? Definitely their smiles. You can tell a lot about people by the way they smile (if they are forcing it/if they're genuinely happy), and it helps me know how to help them/how they are feeling. I'm also apparently scarily perceptive of people and have the ability to see through people even when they seem like a brick wall to others so that helps I guess lol.

What's your eye color? Dark brown

Scary movies or happy endings? Definitely happy endings. Even as old as I am in my early 20s, scary movies make me want to cry lol. I love a good happy ending :).

Any special talents? I'm in the process of being the first sci-fi fantasy author in my family so I guess that counts? I also am known as the animal whisperer in my friend group (a whole ass deer family came up to me once while I was eating a sandwich and I got to pet them and it was nice lol), and my presence attracts all the little hobgoblin animals and its hilarious.

Where were you born? central Illinois unfortunately. ever heard of Champaign-Urbana? Yeah, it's right in the middle of nowhere.

What are your hobbies? I love writing, playing guitar and ukulele, and taking pictures of animals. I also dabble in painting/sketching and am in the process of painting murals at my place rn (currently working on a wall piece of studio ghibli/avatar the last airbender murals). The Dragon Prince and Dota: Dragon's Blood have special places in my heart on Netflix, and you'll often find me binge-watching them on days when I can't find anything else to do. Video games are also a favorite pastime of mine (I will legit not shut up about them once you get me started).

Do you have any pets? Yeah! I have a cat, two dogs, and a sassy bearded dragon named Zuko who likes cuddling on my face/my laptop when I'm trying to finish teaching projects for college.

What sports do you play/have you played? I've been playing golf for the past five years, and love it. It's very relaxing, and honestly very stress-relieving (except when you shoot a ball into the water and that one old couple you see every time at the course starts laughing as they see a otherwise composed woman throw her club and shout obscenities at a geological feature that swallowed a $10 ball). I tried my hand at soccer way back when, but hated competitive playing and instead now teach little kids how to play at my local elementary school sometimes.

How tall are you? 5'7

Favorite subject in school? I adored English, art, and history. I took a theatre class in my first year of college and found a love for it (my professor wanted me to try out for the play but I turned him down and it still haunts me). I also have a strange fascination for philosophy.

Dream job? Elementary school teacher and author (I can't wait to graduate and have my own classroom with those little goblins lol)

top five would be warriors, moon knight, star trek, overwatch, and homestuck. i haven't posted anything for overwatch or homestuck in AGES tho, and i've got a good number of fic plans for fandoms i've never posted for. i just like to be complicated like that ig.

4. what are your top five fics by kudos?

burned off the tapestry; drarry. written in high school.

ashes; squirrelflight/ashfur. in dear deserving of an update. i'll get there. eventually.

if i ever get the nerve to say hello; k/s accidentally secret relationship where uhura thinks she's dating spock.

better left unsaid; po3 slight-crack about everyone knowing the three aren't biologically squirrelflight's.

a cool summer night (and this sweet breeze); some hollywillow/kestreljay nonsense. can't believe this one is in my top 5. i don't even ship kestreljay. i don't even LIKE kestreljay. it's only in this fic because the premise required it.

5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

i try, but not very often. honestly sometimes i forget, sometimes i'm busy, sometimes it's just too much. basically all my fics have moderated comments because i have had Issues with commentors in the past, but. i collect the comments in my inbox and love them very mcuh.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

oof, tough question. i'm gonna go with "anything at all," which uh. ends with a mother finding her teenage daughter dead by drug overdose. i don't think it's my best work, i wrote it when i was like 15, but it's probably the worst ending.

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

oh shit i have to go thru all my fics again? damn. this is easier and harder than the previous one. i like to write happy endings! i prefer it! but i limited myself to only fics with happy endings, not, like. fluff pieces that are all happy. and with that, i'm gonna go with "i see the moonlight steal across your sheets." yes, it is the daddy kink tigerdove one, but it has a very happy ending with very little bittersweet.

8. do you get hate on fic?

rarely. in my inbox is more common. i moderate comments for a reason tho LOL.

i think people on ao3 are much less likely to have problems with me because things are always tagged and warned for. you can't really go into a fic from me and not know what you're getting into.

9. do you write smut?

yes, but i haven't finished anything to publish. which is funny. because i write a lot of smut. [i do have one explicit fic, but. it's not smut.]

10. do you write crossovers?

my first ever fic (written and posted when i was ten) was a crossover. other than that...i write fusions, sometimes. i have a warriors & night circus crossover which is a proper crossover but doesn't really engage with the world as a crossover, if that makes sense. they're not really my thing tho.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i remember? i think i've had to address people over copied paragraphs, but i don't think i remember the details of that. it could've been me noticing someone else's work being copied.

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

yes! and it was very kind of the person who did so.

13. have you ever co-written a fic before?

...it's complicated.

i'm working on a co-written fic rn tho.

character named james who goes by something else X guy who is constantly getting into situations.

15. what's a WIP you want to finish but probably won't?

ohf, i'll admit it here ig. i have a shrewsquirrel piece, "waiting for me in some unholy sunlight," that i really adore. but uh the ending. it ends in a bittersweet way, and uh. well. the ending i had planned ended up more-or-less happening irl. so. i can't. i just can't.

16. what are your writing strengths?

tenacity. lol. uh, i think i'm good at description when i let myself get into it. and i think i'm good at like. the structural elements of writing.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

actually fucking finishing things. and. i've gotten a lot better at it, but i still struggle to keep a balance between narration and dialogue. sometimes it feels like there are pages between two sentences in a conversation.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

goddamn this is something i've done. i think i've mentioned most of the fics involving this here also. okay. so. i'm going to answer with what i do, because there's not, like, one right solution to this. what i prefer to do is keep everything in english, and use dialogue tags to specify what language is being spoken. however, if it's a single word, or a specific phrase, i might keep it in the original language, for flavor/"it's a concept that doesn't translate well."

i have written a fic with sentences in spanish, and i took a long time to make hover translations work, except it doesn't have accents because to this day i can't figure out how to make it work. sobbing and crying etc.

i don't think i would do that with a language i didn't know. in that case, the character being latina was important to how i wanted to angle the story, so it made sense. i'm not sure if i'd do that in a different situation?

basically i play things very by ear. if i was writing a physical book with pages, i would use footnotes fairly heavily, but it's not the same on ao3. you have to lose your place to check a footnote. like, even if it's linked back to the spot (which, y'know, i would do, now that i know how to make footnotes), it jars you a bit.
