3 times Yosuke feels he doesn’t belong and 1 time he knows he does

Yosuke is 12 and living in Tatsumi Port when he realises. It hits him like a punch to the gut, except he thinks a punch would be better in this scenario.

He realises that he doesn’t belong in this group, all rich and snobbish and definitely shunning him. None of them spare even a second glance as he slinks away, resolving to find the nearest pay phone that’d be still operating at this time of night.

Eventually he makes a collect call to his mom begging for her forgiveness and quickly explaining that he’d lost track of time before catching the last monorail to the station by his house. His “friends” don’t call. They don’t ask where he’d gone at school the next day. They don’t care, and Yosuke knows. So he stops caring about them.

2. Yosuke is 14 and tired. He’s stopped attending school, too busy preparing to move to a whole new place halfway across the country. Inaba, his mom told him. He’s too tired to put up a fuss about moving.

His “friends” from school still don’t call. They don’t drop by to offer help with packing. They don’t talk to him when they see him around town.

His “friends” aren’t really his friends. He knows this. But that doesn’t stop it from stinging any less. He can’t count how many things he told them, how many secrets he’d whispered in the darkness of sleepovers, unaware that he was the only one really saying anything.

But they also held him when he cried, they listened when he ranted about his dad, they stopped him from punching things when he became angry.

Silver lining, Yosuke supposes.

3. Yosuke is 15, and still tired. If anything, it seems to have gotten worse. His bones ache when he moves, his eyes feel heavy with a lead weight he doesn’t remember attaching to them. But his heart has been encased in concrete.

Chie and Yukiko are nice, absolutely. But he doesn’t mesh with them like they mesh with each other. Because having lived here in Inaba for about a year now, he’s still the school’s exotic attraction. A city boy in a backwaters high school, with slender, gangly limbs and a face that he’d heard other boys describe as “girlish.”

It’s unfair, really, how some people can blend so well with everyone, while he can barely blend with himself. Music is his only comfort, as pathetic as that is. The blaring from his headphones helps him turn his attention away from what’s bad in his life, and focus on what’s good. Like Chie and Yukiko not constantly making fun of him for how he looks.

There are good and bad aspects about everywhere, Yosuke has figured out. Chie and Yukiko are good aspects, definitely.

Yosuke is 17 and living in Inaba when he realises. It hits him like a punch to the gut, except he thinks a punch would be better in this scenario.

He walks in a field outside Inaba, shoes discarded behind a bush by the roadside. The sky above a deep, dark blue, with black clouds rolling by lazily. A cool breeze drifts by in the warm air, carrying the sweet scent of summer and ruffling his hair.

Beside him walks Yu Narukami, his partner and best friend. It’s been a year since the Inaba murders were solved, by them no less, and now Yu is back, and Yosuke feels gobsmacked by how much his partner has changed.

Yu is taller now, the baby fat in his cheeks burned away to make way for handsome features. He’s taller now- Yosuke has to look up to see that Yu’s grey eyes are darker now, more stormy than steely, and his hair has grown out a bit, though it remains the soft grey it was last year. Yosuke finds that the urge to card his fingers through it has only gotten stronger as time passed.

“Yosuke. What would you say...” Yu begins, turning his head to look at Yosuke. They both stop walking. The sky turns even darker, and Yosuke breathes in the sweet air, listens to the cicadas in his ear.

“If I told you that my parents are letting me stay in Inaba for this school year, too?”

Yosuke feels like he’s been punched in the gut twice. Once because his best friend is staying here again, his best friend will be within arm’s reach once again.

Twice because Yosuke realises he likes Yu as more than just a best friend.

It’s a terrifying realisation. But it’s one he welcomes. He knows where his place in the world is. He’s known it ever since Yu placed himself in their lives, made himself comfortable in the spaces of their hearts and made residency in Yosuke’s head, whispering soft things that make way for yearning that makes his entire body ache.

His place is at Yu’s side, so that’s where he places himself. Hugs his partner so tight he hears bones popping into place, slots himself comfortably in the space between Yu’s arm and side, resting his head on Yu’s shoulder. The fabric of his shirt is soft and comfortable, and Yosuke makes a mental note to steal it from his partner the next time he spends the night.

“I’d welcome you home, partner.”

god where do I even start with this. yosuke is my beloved creature and this is just so delicious. love the detail that yosuke migh be from tatsumi port island. yosuke feels like an outcast his whole life, no real friends, no one to care about him until he meets yu. yu just brings the group together, makes yosuke feel seen, like he's important. they're partners, not just friends. yu makes him feel seen for the first time in his life and that means so much to him. yu means everything to him and he just wants to be by his side forever. loving each other. yosuke finally getting the love he deserves.

Boyfriend-gut-feeling

todoroki yosuke x reader

It was nearing midnight already, and todoroki still hadn't gotten a message from you, and it was making him feel uneasy and agitated.

Time and time again todoroki was checking his phone for your notification, he even changed the ringtone from your notification to the others so he would easily know if it from you or something irrelevant (read:fujio and the other oya dudes).

Fuck being a normal student, you were already considering to just give up and become a delinquent like your boyfriend but knowing todoroki he would really hate that, but like what the fuck man, who the hell gave calculus the right to be this hard.

You have been staring at the same problem for about 15 minutes now, trying to figure out how to solve it but there was just nothing coming into mind and not gonna lie the loud grumbling of your stomach to feed yourself was getting really distractive, maybe you should've alteast eaten a rice ball before throwing yourself into this deep-studying-rabbit-hole.

Todoroki couldn't handle the anxiety anymore and went to see you not forgetting the favourite earphones you both shared since he had this boyfriend-gut-feeling that you need to wind down properly or alteast relax a bit.

About 20 minutes more staring into the problem when you heard your phone start ringing, being too used to the silence the ringtone made you jump a bit but you immediately relaxed when you saw that it was just your boyfriend calling you, it had completely slipped off your mind to update todoroki as you both promised to update each other with just alteast a short sentence or one sentence, he was probably worried since you would normally update him from time to time but as you saw you're last update was almost yesterday since it was just a good morning that you sent to todoroki at 3:27 am.

When you answered the call, you heard nothing but your boyfriend's harsh breathing at first, "outside, it's freezing." todoroki's shuddering voice greeted you.

You hurriedly looked outside from your window, and suprise! Todoroki is there, freezing his ass off but still he looked cute, a cute tint of red painted his cheeks and nose and the lower part of his face was being covered by a scarf, hands in his jacket's pockets.

the sight of todoroki made you giggle as it was out of character of him. You were so used to seeing him in his school uniform and act all cool that you almost forgot your boyfriend had his fluffy side but seeing him outside of your house in his dinosaur pajamas with the scarf you knitted for him reminded you, very very well.

You quickly go outside to end your boyfriend's freezing misery, you immediately hugged him to atleast share some body heat with him and quickly put a hot compress on his hands since you know how easily they get cold.

You put the hot compress between your hand and todoroki's hand, then put it in your jacket pocket, then started walking with him.

"What are you doing here?" You broke the silence after a minute of walking.

"You weren't messaging me so I got worried and went to see you immediately," todoroki stopped for a bit to look down at his shoes, "and I had this boyfriend-gut-feeling that you needed me or something" he mumbled but still it was loud enough for you to hear.

It took you a second or two to realise what he had just said, and when it finally hit, you decided to tease him a bit, "your 'boyfriend-gut-feeling' got you worrying for me huh? The top gun of oya high school gang, todoroki yosuke, got his boyfriend-gut-feeling worrying for his s/o~" you realesed a shit-eating-grin towards his direction as he just continued to look down at his shoes to hide the blush that were darkening his red cheeks more.

As the two of you were just mindlessly walking in silence your stomach's hungry grumble disturbed the silence and it made you feel embarrassed then flashed a small smile towards todoroki.

"And my boyfriend-gut-feeling is right even if you made fun of it," todoroki laughed softly, "cmon I know a nearby convenient store, we can eat there since almost every restaurant near is closed", todoroki dragged you by the hand to be faster.

Arrived at the convenience store, and you excitedly went for the food section and scanned your options.

Todoroki could only watch in awe as he watched you with your bright, wide eyes picking on what yakisoba or onigiri to eat, he moved to drinks section, grabbing himself a coke and grabbing you a juice drink, then moving on to the snacks he grabbed just small ones so you won't feel too full.

After picking yours and todoroki's food, you immediately went to look for todoroki to pay. Once you found him, you both looked at each other and laughed softly on how much you knew each other so well that you didn't even have to ask the other what they wanted.

Finally seating down at a table outside the convenience store after paying, you were waiting for todoroki patiently to heat up both of your food.

Before starting to eat with todoroki, he brought out your favourite earphones that you both always shared. todoroki plugged it into his phone and played the playlist he created for you before starting to eat.

It was just a quiet meal between the two of you, just enjoying each other's presence while a 1975 song was playing in the background. Both of you steal glances of each from time to time.

Todoroki should really listen to his boyfriend-gut-feeling all the time.

Lolita fashion is something you love, and you’re not afraid to show it.

You love how the cute dresses make you feel, and the sweet compliments you receive from others.

Although, getting dressed does take a bit of time. You always make sure you look your best before leaving your home for the day, and that includes makeup.

The best part of your day is when Yosuke’s eyes light up in recognition as he spots you from afar.

Unfortunately for his bike, and him, this results in him crashing his bike into the nearest trash can.

For the third time this week.

“Y/n! Oh, it’s so good to see you! I see you’re all decked out as usual.” Yosuke’s lips form a goofy grin as he slowly walks around you, admiring the cute bonnet on your head in the process.

“So, what’s the plan for today guys?” After Chie speaks up, the rest of the investigation team begins chatting amongst themselves. Yosuke continues to stand beside me, and he subtly grabs a hold of my arm.

He not so subtly motions for me to follow him, and so I do.

Kanji notices us separating from the group so he decides to voice a farewell. “Yo, Yosuke! Let me know how it goes. Watch out for that trash can next to you.” Kanji’s booming voice draws the attention of the others to our direction, and Yosuke’s cheeks burst in an explosion of red.

My cheeks flush as well, and I pray it goes unnoticed.

“Shut up moron, I can see the trash can! …but thanks.” Yosuke bashfully mutters the last part. He makes a quick escape with me in tow as Chie and Teddie’s teasing remarks reach my ears.

I wonder what Kanji means by ‘let me know how it goes?’

Aw well, this is my chance to impress Yosuke! I train my eyes on the back of Yosuke’s fluffy head as I recall the many times he’s made his love for Rise known. It doesn’t particularly bother me… okay, maybe it does. The girls Yosuke talks to or about clearly have little to no interest in him.

But I do! Why doesn’t he talk about me like that?

My thoughts continue in that direction until I accidentally bump into Yosuke’s back.

“Oof!” I step backwards and hope my makeup didn’t smudge on him. “Whoops, my bad! I should’ve given you a warning haha, but well, here we are!” Yosuke nervously gestures to…

I hope my face expresses the utter disappointment I feel; I stare into Yosuke’s eyes as he gestures to the Junes in front of us.

You have got to be kidding me.

“Yosuke, look.” I gesture to the trash cans in the aisle, and Yosuke gives me a similar deadpan look to the one I gave him a few moments ago.

I giggle as I flash a teasing grin in his direction. I relish the way his eyes gleam with that familiar sparkle of adoration. “All jokes aside, are you alright? That’s the third time this week you’ve fallen into a trash can.” Yosuke awkwardly coughs into his fist at my words, and he attempts to laugh it off.

“Haha, right right. Well um, thanks for the concern Y/n. I really appreciate it, but as you can see I am a-okay!” Yosuke comically tries to flex, which results in one of the trash cans knocking against his arm and almost falling into the aisle.

Before it can hit Yosuke I quickly hold the edge of it and gently push it back into place.

Phew, thank you, fast reflexes!

Yosuke looks at me in astonishment as I let out a sheepish chuckle. I notice a small cut on his hand, and I step forward to take a closer look. Yosuke’s eyes follow my line of sight, and he quickly hides his hand behind his back.

“Yosuke, do you have-“ “Oh, look! It’s the clothing aisle! Come, let’s see if they have anything similar to the lolita dresses you always wear. You look so pretty in them, it’d be a shame not to check right?” Before I can fully process his sweet compliment Yosuke gently grasps my hand in his as he guides me to the clothing section.

“Oh my gosh Yosuke, look!” The clothing section did in fact have lolita clothes, somehow, and I’m currently gushing over a cute petticoat I found in the clearance section.

“You’ll look beautiful in that petticoat, you should get it.” I abruptly look up when Yosuke’s soft voice reaches my ears, and my breath catches when his eyes meet mine.

I see evident affection in his warm brown eyes, and it acts as a magnet as I lean in closer to him. Yosuke leans in towards me as well, and we stare into each other’s eyes in silence for a few moments.

“Yosuke, how did you know there would be lolita clothes here?” Yosuke chokes on air after I ask my question, and I gently pat his back in an attempt to comfort him. After he recovers from his abrupt coughing fit, he avoids looking at my face as he speaks.

“Well, I may or may not have been interested in the cute clothes you wear, so… I looked into it. I have to say, it was very interesting to read all about lolita fashion. I also may or may not have convinced my father to bring in lolita clothes to sell at Junes, but he only agreed to sell some on clearance and see how that goes.” Yosuke sheepishly looks anywhere but at me. I’m glad he’s looking anywhere but at me so he can't see the way my bottom lip quivers.

Yosuke did this for me? That’s beyond thoughtful, and really considerate. He even looked into lolita fashion because of me!

“Yosuke, I…” I place a hand on Yosuke’s arm, and he slowly turns his head to look at me. We’re still standing close to each other, and my heart pounds against my chest as Yosuke takes in my expression. He slowly closes his eyes as he leans in closer to me, and I close my eyes in anticipation.

Yosuke’s soft lips brush against my own, and a soft sigh escapes my lips as he fully presses them against mine.

“Sensei, look! Yosuke finally did it! Yosuke finally-“

I feel Yosuke flinch, but despite that he takes his time before pulling away. I giggle as we both turn to look in the direction of a familiar voice.

I burst into laughter as Teddie comically gets yanked back into the cleaning aisle by his collar, and his loud complaints quickly fade away as Chie loudly scolds Teddie for blowing everyone’s cover.

Yosuke and I look back at each other, and it only results in me laughing harder as he groans in annoyance.

“I swear I’m going to kill him later.”

Yosuke ends up buying the petticoat for me despite my humble protests, and I’m practically glowing with joy as I hold the Junes bag close to my chest.

“Sorry about Teddie Y/n, that bear doesn’t know when to shut his mouth.” I dismiss Yosuke’s apology with a smile.

“No worries Yosuke! Besides, I enjoyed our kiss.” Yosuke’s face displays a goofy grin and gleaming eyes as my words reach his ears. “Oh, right. I wanted to ask you earlier, but...” Yosuke slowly stops walking, and I follow suit.

Yosuke turns to face me as the tips of his ears sport a pretty blush.

“Y/n, I’ve really enjoyed hanging out with you these last few months. I also love everything I’ve learned about you, including the parts of yourself you don’t like. So, I was wondering if you’d…” Yosuke’s eyes fix on something behind me, and he shoos whatever it is away with a few frantic flicks of his hand.

I turn to look behind me, but Yosuke quickly grabs my shoulders and pulls me towards him.

“Will you be my girlfriend Y/n?”

“H-huh…” My eyes widen at his unexpected question, and my heart flips in my chest.

My lack of a response causes Yosuke to fidget in place, but he doesn’t push me for an answer right away.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath to gather my thoughts.

It’s honestly hard to believe this isn’t a dream.

Once my eyes open again, I quickly press a chaste kiss to Yosuke’s lips. I giggle when I pull away and his lips eagerly chase after mine.

“You haven't heard my answer yet, you know?” Yosuke mutters something incomprehensible under his breath before he’s pulling me in for another kiss.

“Sensei, look! Yosuke’s about to get lucky!”

Yosuke ignores Teddie’s obnoxiously loud speculation as he gently runs his hands down my back to rest against my waist.

Once he does pull away, he glares daggers at who I assume is the investigation team behind us.

“You guys really don’t know how to be subtle, huh? Good thing spying isn’t a requirement in the investigation team.” Yosuke grumbles.

I boisterously laugh at his annoyance and softly pat his shoulder to placate him. “If you were still wondering, my answer is yes. I’d love to be your girlfriend, Yosuke Hanamura.”

The pure elation on his face is enough to cause a goofy smile to present itself on my lips.

if you had to punt exactly one playable persona character into the sun, who would it be and why?

i have to pick just one? aww...

well, i classify my urge to punt someone as how much i hate and despise and fucking loathe them. but my reasoning behind hating a character is based on multiple factors;

do they have/learn good skills/abilities?

are they well written in the story?

are they well written in their social link?

writing aside, do i like them as a person?

now, the only games i have played out of the persona series are 4 & 5(NOT ROYAL). i read the p1 manga and am only watching playthroughs of the game, so i am not at all in any place to cast judgement on those guys, nor do one of those factors even apply to them... so that already narrows it down a whole bunch. i would never punt a single p1 character. they're all great (except maybe kei just for the 4th one) (but he's great. i love him. i think about him and get sad)

and i'm also eliminating the protagonists for obvious reasons, so we've already disqualified 11 characters. and with that out of the way, we can officially begin...

PERSONA'S PERILOUS PLAY OF PUNTING POTENTIAL!!!! (contains spoilers)

every character will be able to score out of 3 in each factor, and the one with the least amount of points wins the game as the Most Puntable. it's kind of like golf, which is funny, because i also want to punt golf players into the sun.

our first contestant is YOSUKE HANAMURAAAA

now, i was going to grab a fun little image of him to provide this post with visuals but i always forget that 90% of his search results on google are. uh. hm.

well, this is our situation. can i give him a pity point for that?

for number one, i can say...... 3/3. he was ALWAYS on my team during the whole game and i built him up well. like i was raising a son... sniffle... they grow up so fast...

i have to admit, it was a little annoying when he kept missing crits on the golden hand but is that his fault? no-hohohoooooo, it's merely a turn of fate... (and his fault. fuckyouyosukefuckyoufuckyougaaaah)

for number 2, i rate it 2. he's an ooooookay character in the main story, a lot of his harassment of the girls and kanji really tick me off and there's literally no good explanation as for why he does that other than just being an asshole, but. i guess being an asshole is just part of his personality.........?

EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THERE SHOULD BE GREATER CONSEQUENCES FOR HIS ACTIONS BECAUSE COMMUNICATING THE IDEA THAT BAD PEOPLE GET OFF SCOT-FREE IS TERRIBLE FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS. i don't give 2 shits about fanservice as a whole (in regards to harassing the girls, not the homophobia, that's just annoying) but can we stop making the grounds for it being sexual harassment

number 3 gets a 3! his social link is AMAZING and i CRIED and hes GAY and LOVES HIS FRIENDS!!!!!! if i wanted to do a character analysis on him then i would write a different post, but this is me trying to figure out who i would punt into the sun. so. moving on

number 4......... 1/3. for the previous points in number 2, he is an absolute dickhead and no amount of people-pleasing habits and homoerotic chemistry will make me like him. every person who is mean to him is right.

oh boy, just yosuke's section was reaaaaaaaaaally long... i'll try and shorten it for you, okay?

up next is chie satonaka, my personal favourite persona 4 girl if that sets the baseline for anything.

for number one, i'm sadly going to have to rate her below 3... like. 1.5? is that allowed? i'll say it is.

she's the party member equivalent of a burner phone. unlike yosuke who's by my side forever and ever, chie is only good until teddie gets a persona and then she's so publicly humiliated that she accidentally misses every single hit. galactic punt YOURSELF MOTHERFUUUUUUUUUCK

number 2, 3/3. no explanation needed, literally just her shadow boss fight and the beauty pageant and her friendship with yukiko and her everything.

number 3... also 3/3. a lot of people give her flack for deciding she wants to be a cop, which i get because acab fuck yeah, but where adachi is a cop just to get attention and a gun, she actually intends to protect people. chie learns to help herself so she can help others... augh... AUGH CHIE I LOVE YOUUUUUU

ahem. number 4, 2/3. she's definitely a sweetheart and she seems fun to be around but i have to admit she's definitely a little annoying sometimes.

and now it's time for chie's bestest friend ever, yukiko amagi!!

she gets a pity point for being a lesbian... not just a lesbian but one having a crush on a straight girl. we've all been there hunny bun. let's watch romcoms and eat ice cream together while crying ok?

number 1..... 3/3 fuck yeah my main healer always coming in clutch!!! after a certain point she stops being the main fire user and the player is supposed to take that role but then she has KICKASS HEALING ABILITIES!! support characters are always my favourites (which might foreshadow my rating for haru.......)

1/3 for number 2. that might sound harsh, but! but but but!

they kind of sucked the life out of her after her dungeon. the only real defining personality traits she has are in her social link, which is unfortunate because so many people hate it!

i don't hate yukiko. never

3 gets a 3. it's a good story actually, and like i said it helps me see yukiko as. like. a person. and a lot of people say it's bad writing that her story ends with her deciding she wants to manage the inn, but let me put a lot of emphasis on 'deciding'. she chose that path for herself after being told she was allowed to do what she likes, and y'know what? i don't think that's bad!

nobody likes being forced to do something. i know i struggled a lot with doing homework because i always felt trapped in those deadlines and expectations, but i didn't just give up on school. improving my grades was my own choice, and i realized that i had potential to change myself despite my situation and succeed! that's what yukiko's social link is about. not giving in to other people's expectations, but thriving in the environment you're given...

i just said i wanted to shorten everything and now i'm ranting. always number 4 is a 3/3 she's literally just a girl and her laughing thing is cute idgaf.

KANJI TATSUMIIIIIIIII

subtracting a point for those shoes. get out.

number 1 is a 2/3. he was cool, but nobody ever compares to yosuke. i mainly used him for his physical skills rather than magic because yu took that role very easily, and when paired with teddie or yukiko he's just a boss. but he's not my favourite party member in the world

number 2, i'll be blunt, 1/3. WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO TO YOU MAN. we all saw how yosuke and everyone else and the whole damn story treated him. we all saw the line where he asked naoto to be femme so they could "make him a man". shut the fuck upppppp

number 3 is his saving grace. i know some people don't like that they never elaborated on the sexuality thing (or the... sexism..??) and i get that, having a character who's canonically mspec but only vaguely mentions it once and never again is really annoying and a half-assed attempt at representation. though i interpret his reconciliation with his sewing hobby, an aspect of him that everyone thinks is unmanly and should be shamed, as a metaphor for his own sexuality. similar to daisuke and soccer being a stand-in for his anxiety around romance and girls. in that case, it's a 3/3.

(plus there's the line "it's so cute it'll give you diabetes" and... kanji... *facepalm*)

number 4. he's cutie. a little weird, but cutie. 2/3

and now, a girl who needs no introduction.

god my feelings for her are as mixed as my auntie's desert lasagna. ("let's mix it up," she says...)

i don't have anything against the navigators. they're pretty good. i say 3/3.

however i hate rise's writing. -4/3. negative numbers are cheating? I DON'T CARE!!

her dungeon is a STRONG start to her character, like with everyone else. i love rise reconciling with the fact that there is no "real me" and everyone has different sides of themselves that they need to make it through life... and the fact that it ties in with teddie's conflict of feeling hollow, like an alien or an impostor only pretending to be alive........ oh my god! hiiiiii!!!!! love it!

and then rise's main bit in the story is crushing on the protagonist.......... sigh.

i really really REALLY hate that about her actually. i really hate forced romances. and before you go calling me a hypocrite for liking souyo and not yurise even though souyo has the exact same amount of flirty moments between them, that's because those two are really subtle with each other and have a really good initial friendship to back it up and also ties in with their actual personalities.......???? (we can debate forever and ever if yu has a personality but i say he does. he's consistently portrayed in other adaptations and spinoffs. he's got so much in common with yosuke)

but rise just kind of sees yu and goes "hey handsome. killing shadows all by yourself?" and it's like eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh.... 90% of the time she's on screen it's to flirt with yu and the other 10% is serious moments or when she's with anyone but yu. there's no moments where she gets to be casual and friendly with HIM, where we get to see DEPTH to their relationship, it's just purely flirting. and i hate that. so much. is this a one-night stand? no? then give me some actual fucking chemistry

and i feel like all of that smushing-dolls-together time takes away from a lot of genuine scenes with rise where she....... yk.... shows off her personality?

the hot springs and the trip to tatsumi port island are held dearly in my heart because rise DOES SHIT. she's silly and goofy and playful and maybe she says some stuff that's a little perverted but it's not to the yosuke degree. i like the idea that rise flirts with ALL of her friends, not just yu; it makes her feel like she's really part of the friend group, which is the investigation team's strongest suit.

rise and yukiko both have any personality ripped from them in favour of dumb bits that aren't even funny and that post of mine analyzing their dynamic during the school field trip is so everything guys they're so great as a duo i need to see more of them pleapelpslepalpelspes.......

...whoops. i ranted.

number 3 gets a 2/3. it's kind of just a rehash of what she learned in the main story, which is fine, but not ideal.

rise as a person is 3/3. absolute silliness all around. love her

entirely honest, i'm on my second persona 4 playthrough to complete the social links i never finished and... naoto is one of those. so i will be unable to determine the rating for one of the factors. but luckily i'm not shit at math so it'll work out in the end

for 1...... honestly they're a good party member as well, but because i didn't get very far in their social link, i didn't unlock that ability where she's able to withstand a deadly blow meaning he would just be constantly dying. like. constantly.

but that's kind of the only thing i like about naoto. i have to rate their main storyline a 1/3. it's absolutely shit and the gender plottwist (ughh) is so badly done. i'm personally thinking up a rewrite for his character because i think they were onto something with the message about misogyny in the workplace but she's so SHITTILY executed that it's just muddied

naoto as a person is..... ok. 2/3. i don't find many things about her that exceptional or fun. i don't think about them often. if this were my rewrite of him it'd be waaaay deep down in the negatives because they are an ASSHOLE but i love them way more :3

and next is ryu.............uh........ actually, this is way too long. much too long than you probably anticipated... um... maybe i'll cut it short, make a part 2 later.

My name is Tohru Cabbage Adachi. I live at 308 Cabbage Lane, Yasoinaba, Yamanashi prefecture, 87104. This is my confession. If you're watching this tape, I'm probably dead– murdered by my superiors nephew. Yu Narukami. Yu has been building a cabbage empire for over a year now, and using me as his farmer. Shortly after my 27th birthday, he asked that I use my farming knowledge to grow cabbages, which he would then sell using connections that he made through his career with Junes. I was... astounded. I... I always thought Yu was a very moral man, and I was particularly vulnerable at the time – something he knew and took advantage of. I was reeling from a cancer diagnosis that was poised to bankrupt me. Yu took me in on a ride-along and showed me just how much money even a small cabbage operation could make. And I was weak. I didn't want to go into financial ruin, so I agreed. Yu had a partner, a businessman named Teddie. Yu sold me into servitude to this man. And when I tried to quit, Teddie threatened my cabbages. I didn't know where to turn. Eventually, Yu and Teddie had a falling-out. Things escalated. Teddie was able to arrange – uh, I guess... I guess you call it a "hit" – on Yu, and failed, but Yu was seriously injured. And I wound up paying his medical bills, which amounted to a little over $177,000. Upon recovery, Yu was bent on revenge. Working with a man named Yosuke Hanamura, he plotted to kill Teddie. The bomb that he used was built by me, and he gave me no option in it. I have often contemplated suicide, but I'm a coward. I wanted to go to the police, but I was frightened. Yu had risen to become the head of the Yasoinaba Junes, To keep me in line, he took my cabbages. For three months, he kept them. My cabbages had no idea of my criminal activities, and were horrified to learn what I had done. I was in hell. I hated myself for what I had brought upon my cabbages. Recently, I tried once again to quit, and in response, he gave me this. [Adachi points to the bruise on his face left by Yu in "Blood Money."] I can't take this anymore. I live in fear every day that Yu will kill me, or worse, hurt my family. All I could think to do was to make this video and hope that the world will finally see this man for what he really is.

Other than that though I also just think everyone in p4 is super queer. I mean. I feel like that could be said for all the casts. But p4 is very like. I feel like these people are all dating other members of the group. (Like yu and yosuke, yukiko and chie, the stuff going on with rise naoto and kanji. And then like. Teddie is there but he’s. Teddie. And definitely isn’t escaping the queer allegations he’s just not in a ship for me he’s like. A little guy. A lil bear. Silly thing).

Her red bangs fall in front of her face and her glasses clang on the tile when she lowers her chin. Her jaw tightens and her hands ball into fists. She thinks she hears Akechi but she can’t understand a thing that he says. “Shut up.”

I don't know how cringey this one is, but it's what I think of when I think of them pre-relationship lmao

Yosuke groaned, leaning back against the floor of the dungeon.

He had just gotten hit by a particularly nasty electricity skill and now just wanted to curl in on himself and sleep for several hours.

He had to admit that he had probably brought this upon himself though. He had rushed into the fight, wanting to take out the shadows as fast as possible. He had wanted Yu to praise him for doing a good job. It always made him so unbelievably happy whenever that happened. He was really seeking his approval and now he was in pain because of it.

“Yosuke!” That was Yu’s voice along with the sound of footsteps coming nearer. “Are you okay?”

He tried to get himself to sit up. He didn’t want him to have to worry about him.

All of a sudden, a warmth began radiating out around him, seeping into his joints, relieving the aching of his limbs.

He let out a deep breath, looking over just in time to see one of Yu’s various Personas fade away. He must have cast a healing spell on him. He could always count on him to help him when things like this happened.

Yu walked over beside him, offering him his hand. He took it - his skin was so warm, his palm and fingers calloused, only serving as a reminder of how adept he was with his sword - letting himself be helped up.

“Are you okay?” Yu repeated, worry behind his eyes.

Yosuke nodded. “Yeah, sorry.”

He looked him over with his eyes before nodding. “All right, just try to be more careful next time. I don’t like you getting hurt.”

For whatever reason, that concern made his heart start pounding in his chest. "Yeah, right."

With that, the group started heading through the area once again, going until they were all too exhausted to keep at it, leaving the TV World.

While they were walking through Junes, something dawned on him - there was an essay due the next morning that he had barely started on. He definitely wasn't going to have the motivation to finish it that night, not with how tired he was. He needed to get it done though.

They were walking into the parking lot, everyone beginning to head into different directions, when he stopped Yu.

"Hey, Partner?"

Yu turned to face him. "What's up?"

He hesitated. He needed someone to motivate him to get this essay done. "Do you already have your essay finished? The one for history?"

A small smile tugged at his lips. "Yeah, I do."

He hesitated. If he hadn't had it done, he was going to ask him if he wanted to work on it together, but if he had already finished it, then he really couldn't ask that.

"Do you want to come over to work on yours?"

Relief flooded through his chest. If he was offering, then he didn't need to ask. "Yes, please."

"All right, come on then."

The two of them began walking in the direction of the Dojima Residence. He did like going over there a lot. It was nice to just spend time with Yu and also Nanako. Yu's uncle kind of intimidated him, but altogether it was nice.

When they arrived, Nanako was the only one home. She immediately perked up as soon as the door opened. "Welcome home."

Yu smiled at her, returning the greeting - it was such a warm smile, one that he loved seeing from him. It made him look so handsome. He paused at that thought - objectively handsome, of course. Yu was just a good looking guy and the smile made him more good looking.

"Hey, Nanako-chan," Yosuke said, walking over to the table in the living room where she was seated.

"Hi. Are you here to hang out with Big Bro?"

He was just opening his mouth to answer that yes, he was, when Yu cut him off. "He's here to work on homework."

Yosuke pouted. "I can do both."

"Maybe after you get your work done."

He groaned. Now that he was here, he just wanted to spend time with the both of them. That sounded so much better than homework.

Nanako looked between the two of them before turning to him. "I'll help you."

He smiled. "I'm sure that with both of us working together, I'd get an even better grade than Yu."

"Really? Big Bro is really smart though."

"Don't sell yourself short."

"Yosuke, don't try to get her to do it for you," Yu said from the kitchen.

"I'm not trying to get her to do it for me. I'm just saying that I bet she's smart enough to do it."

Yu hummed. "Maybe. Anyways though, get to work. Dinner will be ready in a bit."

"And I'm getting treated to your home cooking. You're spoiling me."

"Would you rather not have dinner?" There was a smile behind his voice.

"I definitely want dinner."

"Good, so get to work."

He grabbed out his history book and the part of the essay that he had already started writing, spreading it out on the table in front of him.

Everything quickly settled into a comfortable quiet, the TV on in the background and noises coming from the kitchen as Yu cooked. He liked being like this. It sure beat working on his essay alone in his room.

After a while, dinner was ready, so he stopped working to eat - once again, Yu's cooking was so good. If he could have one person cook for him for the rest of his life, it would be him. It sounded so nice to live with him and have him cook for him every day. He would love for that to happen.

Once dinner was done, he started working on his essay again, determined now to get it done - he was starting to feel the pressure of needing to finish it before he went home that night. He got so into it that he barely even noticed Yu putting Nanako to bed. He came to sit with him afterward though, so that was nice.

He was just writing the last sentence when the front door slid open.

He looked up as Dojima walked inside, stopping when he saw him. “Hanamura, you’re here late.”

“Welcome home,” Yu said. “Yosuke just needed help with homework.”

He nodded. “All right, that’s fine. You’re staying here tonight though. It’s too late for a kid your age to be walking around.”

He almost opened his mouth to complain, but quickly thought better of it. “Oh, all right.”

“Good, now don’t stay up too late.”

“We won’t,” Yu said.

At that, Dojima walked into the hallway, presumably going to bed himself.

Yosuke turned to Yu. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to spend the night.”

Yu shook his head. “It’s fine. Are you almost done with your essay?”

He looked back down at the paper in front of him. “Yep. I just finished it.”

He nodded. “Do you want to go get ready for bed now then? You can borrow some pajamas.”

He smiled. “Thanks, dude. And yeah, that sounds good.”

At that, he put his school stuff back into his bag, standing, and following Yu up to his room.

He waited as he went through his dresser, pulling clothes out of it. He handed him a stack of them. “You can take a shower first.”

“Okay, be right back then.”

He took the clothes into the bathroom, setting them down on the counter. He quickly took a shower, then got to work getting redressed.

As he was pulling on the shirt though, he paused. This was Yu’s shirt. He was about to put on Yu’s clothes. Why did that thought make his heart race? It was just a piece of fabric.

A piece of fabric that Yu had worn before.

He swallowed hard, pulling the shirt on over his head. Why was he acting so weird about it? Sharing clothes with his best friend shouldn’t make his stomach flutter. It just shouldn’t.

He was kind of disappointed that they smelled like laundry soap and not him though.

The pants were just a little bit too long on him and he fought the urge to roll them up - rolling up pajama pants was just weird. Still, it made him feel small. Yu wasn’t that much taller than him, was he?

He pushed his thoughts away, then made his way back to Yu’s room. It seemed as though he had been hard at work while he was taking a shower, setting up the room so that there were two futons laid out, side by side on the floor.

“Shower’s all yours,” Yosuke said, walking up beside him.

It might have been his imagination, but it felt like Yu’s gaze lingered on him for a few seconds more than normal.

He nodded. “All right. I’ll be right back.”

After Yu left the room, Yosuke went over and sat down on one of the futons. He was really about to sleep so close to him. Despite himself, that thought made him really happy.

He didn’t have to wait for very long before Yu was coming back into the room, his hair damp from his shower.

He paused by the door. “Lights off?”

“Yeah.” He was actually pretty exhausted from exploring the TV World, so he was about ready to go to sleep.

Yu flicked the lights off, then headed over, sitting down on the futon next to him, climbing underneath the blankets.

He followed suit, laying down on his side so that he was facing him. They were so close that he could hear his gentle breathing beside him. It was quiet for a little while.

“Hey, Yosuke?”

“Yeah?”

“I was just thinking about earlier - about when you got hurt.”

Yosuke winced. Why was he bringing that up?

“And well, you know that you don’t have anything that you need to prove, right?”

Was he really that easy to read? Did everyone else think that that was what he was doing?

“Yeah, sorry.”

Yu let out a small sigh. “It’s just… I really hate seeing you get hurt. I do care about you and it just makes my mind wander to the possibilities. What if something happens and it’s bad enough that I can’t heal you? I…” His voice was shaking.

Yosuke’s chest started aching. He really thought about stuff like that? He was worried about losing him?

Yosuke reached out, finding his hand amongst the blankets, and grasping tightly onto it. “I’m sorry. I’ve never thought about it like that.”

Yu squeezed his hand back. “I know that, really, we haven’t known each other that long, but I already can’t imagine living my life without you. You’re important to me.”

He took a deep breath. Why did hearing that make his eyes start to water. “You’re important to me too.”

Yu let out a yawn, moving a little bit closer to him so that they were almost touching. Without thinking too much, Yosuke reached over, wrapping his arm around his back, just letting them be close.

He really didn’t understand why his heart was beating so fast, but, at the same time, he was so unbelievably content. He hoped that Yu knew just how much he meant to him.

I am a Persona 5 enthusiast above all else and a Persona 3 Portable lover directly after that, but fuck if the MC x Yosuke relationship doesn’t own my entire life

I should prob wait until I'm fully done bc I think I'm at the final dungeon now (or, there's a bonus one later i guess that's optional?) but

jesus fucking christ can i please just talk about Yosuke finally because I feel like i'm gonna explode

I don't think I see Yosuke as bisexual is the thing that I have settled on. I feel like Yosuke is a badly closeted scared shitty teenager who is simmering with so much repressed anger and resignation, he doesn't know how to adequately handle it (and frankly he's slowly getting better over the course of the game). But all of his worst moments in the story feel like he's acting from a script, namely the CompHet Script From Hell.

(Also, I would say that I think of Kanji as The Bisexual One while Yosuke is just attracted to dudes, which isn't what I anticipated from the start.)

But Yosuke mostly makes me sad. I feel like the expectations on him, the ones that he has wrapped around himself like a shield in an attempt to ward off people hurting him. Because he's so isolated and desperate for affection, he's willing to do stupid shit to get the attention he wants. All of his bad antics always feel like.... they come from less of a place of horny lust and more from a place of....... fear?

Like when he does the shit around the camping trip and his other sketchy actions, it always feels like a way to say "please be with me in this thing, this is what guys do, right?" like if he hits his mark well enough, he'll unlock some happiness he hasn't figured out yet.

but it's all so SCRIPTED! like when does Yosuke go off the deep end? when there's a script he thinks he has to hit. oh, the spring camping trip can't just be a school trip, it has to be a chance to score with the ladies. oh, you can't just want to get motorcycles and hang out with your best friend, it has to be for laaaaaadies.

but as soon as you separate him from those scripts and he goes back to being him, he's.... such a fucking decent, empathetic guy. he takes in teddie and outright fights to keep him living with him. he takes the lead in the case alongside naoto. he is the first person to rope in Nanako into the group and consistently keeps her involved. and once he gets over his homophobic panic over kanji, he keeps fukcing trying to wingman for kanji, even if kanji would prefer he didn't. and that feels genuine! kanji reacts to it like a cat in a bath, but more than once, yosuke prodding kanji for his taste in boys (and girls and naoto) feels like real interest, not a set up for a punchline. and I've remarked before that he's REALLY decent to naoto re: gender, esp in comparison to the rest of the game, which was STUNNING.

and then he's like "OH SHIT i need to be more of a Dude's Dude" and he morphs into an asshole for a day. then he snaps right back.

the out of universe explanations are clear, i'm not a dumbass. but I am choosing to kill the fucking author and examine what all this genuinely means for the character.

and the guy who attaches himself the MC's hip, and who's growth thru his bullshit is linked to the MC, and who cries around the MC and who accepts a long lingering hug and lets not forget if you roleplay wanting to date him, he's happy.

Maybe in the future this will change, but for the Yosuke of now, in the moment, it feels like his expectations of what Guys And Girls are supposed to be gets in his way of forming stronger relationships (which, again, is why the Naoto thing intrigues me). It feels like he thinks he's supposed to want to date Chie, but when he seeks out intimacy that veers into the romantic, it's not with girls.

ANYWAY I THINK YOSUKE'S GAY, but his closet is sadly made of knives, and it cuts him as he tries to keep himself contorted into the correct shape to keep hidden.

best case scenario is him hanging around the MC until he trips happily into the relationship he wants, built brick by brick until the plausible deniability is left out in the cold

worst case is he's going to get married at 20 and make some poor woman abjectly fucking miserable until they're divorced.

phew okay, all that felt like an exorcism, i feel better now

#persona 4 #p4 #persona 4 golden #p4g #hanamura yosuke #souyo #this scene revealed so much of their relationship in one go #yosuke has already long been established as yu's confidant at this point but this moment really drove it home!#yosuke anticipates each of yu's behaviour #but even though he disagrees with it he doesn't judge yu for it #even going so far as to help yu hide it from the rest of the team #its debatable whether thats necessarily a good thing #but it demonstrates yosuke's unwavering loyalty to yu while also making clear his disappointment #and of course yosuke has much to feel sad and disappointment over - one the one hand it felt like yu didnt trust him/them enough #he phrased it as a matter of “you should trust us more” as opposed to “you should trust ME more” because talking about trust in the singula #would hit too close to home and risk making too many demands of yu. demands that yosuke didnt feel he was allowed to make #afterall why would yu trust him but not the others? but the team is made up of other more reliable people than he was #and bringing up the team gives yosuke a defensive cover #so as usual it's part of yosuke's self doubt creeping in #but theres also honesty here - yosuke wasnt here to accost him or be angry at him; he really showed up just to make sure that yu was safe #and once hes confirmed it yosuke falls back to his usual habits of cracking a joke to lighten the mood #to end the conversation on a joke feels like its as much a service for yu as it is for himself #we know yosuke tends to joke to make the people around him feel better and i think in this instance he was also trying to cheer yu up #whether it was to make up for yosuke approaching him or to alleviate any guilt yu might feel #or even to manage whatever it was that adachi might have said to yu (which yosuke undoubtedly picked up on)#yosuke doesn't let his disagreement with yu get in the way of supporting his partner #to some extent i also wonder if this loyalty was also coloured by their previous interaction with namatame and Yosuke's anger #it's been less than a week since that incident after all and i think theres this contradiction for yosuke #and i think there was probably a contradiction in Yosuke's heart in that moment: he doesn't trust himself to make good judgements #but as much as he'd rather take yu's lead in this instance he also feels like his leader was wrong here

my thoughts on the persona 4 cast

SPOILERS BELOW SPOILERS BELOW

Yosuke Hanamura Battle Rating: 7/10 I didn't use him all that much, but he's your earlygame guy, he pulls his weight pretty well. He's saved my ass with Trafuri plenty of times, so I've got that to thank him for. Character Rating: I dunno man/10 Yosuke as a character has me on the fence about him. On one hand, his S. Link is great and you really get to see him grow. On the other hand, he is an ASSHOLE and is incredibly mean-spirited to Kanji. If the supposed cut romance is real, it'd explain how behavior as him being closeted, but as it stands, he's just a really mixed bag that is also sometimes a pervert because Persona. Chie Satonaka Battle Rating: 8/10 She probably has the best battle follow-up; being able to straight-up punt the enemy out of battle can be a life-saver in certain miniboss encounters. However, she kind of falls off the Phys department around the same time Kanji joins, and she'll definitely be outshined by the later Naoto when it comes to add clearing. Still, she gets some time in the sun since she joins very early. I also really like her battle idle animation, it's probably my favorite battle idle animation in all the games. Character Rating: 7/10 Chie's not a very "deep" character, but that's perfectly fine. Her S. Link was simple but it helped give you a glimpse into her character and her resolve to actually fully come to terms with what her Shadow said. Yukiko Amagi Battle Rating: 10/10 She provides the game's best healing and some damn good damage thanks to a great Magic stat, she's probably a first-playthrough final team staple. Character Rating: 5/10 Man, I REALLY wanted to like Yukiko. I really did. But her S. Link just ends her back at where she started, and even with the new outlook she got, it didn't fully feel very... satisfactory, I suppose? Kind of like a worse Kou S. Link. Kanji Tatsumi Battle Rating: 10/10 POWER CHARGE PRIMAL FORCE Kanji's an ABSOLUTE beast in combat, he's so awesome. Character Rating: 10/10 Kanji is a character that really resonates with me. I've been at points where I have questioned my sexuality, points where I've thought about maybe even trying to transition; but in the end, I placed my confidence into my own masculinity and became confident in who I am. I think seeing Kanji come to face not just that uncertain aspect of himself, but also get through his fear of rejection in his S. Link, makes him one of, if not, the best written P4 party member. Rise Kujikawa Battle: she's the navi/10 She's the navi. Cool benefits though. Character Rating: 9/10 Another contender for the best written P4 party member. Rise's internal struggle to find who she "really" is was a great part of her story, and I actually think it was portrayed quite well in the Persona 4 Animation. Neat character, she's cool. Teddie Battle Rating: 8/10 Early Matarukaja and some good support makes Teddie a good party member to have around if you're not using Yukiko for healing. Character Rating: 8/10 Teddie's fine. He has a lot of hit-or-miss moments, and his voice can get grating, but I liked the moments he had in the hospital when Nanako was hospitalized, and seeing him in the Velvet room was also pretty cool. Naoto Shirogane Battle Rating: 10/10 MIND CHARGE MEGIDOLAON Naoto's the magic equivalent of Kanji, and she does ridiculous damage with the addition of also being incredibly good at shadow add clear. Character Rating: 9/10 I really liked Naoto coming to accept herself for who she is and realizing she can succeed without changing, even if the writing is a little dated. Her S. Link was neat, and while it didn't do much for her character, it gave a deeper glimpse into her character which is always appreciated. I think people who say Naoto is trans kind of miss the point of the character; to say she should've been trans would be to submit to the idea that women cannot succeed in male-dominated departments, which is the opposite of what her arc was trying to say.

Today's rip was requested for coverage on the blog due to one very simple reason. Because for all the coverage I've done on the King for Another Day Tournament in Season 4 Episode 1 with rips like Thank You, Everybody!, Unhealed and NIGHTMARESCAPE 〜Unrestrained HyperCam 2〜 (Final Boss Phase 2), there's one part of the project that I've effectively ignored entirely up until now. Indeed, though the excitement of the tournament itself, and its post-contest celebrations in Season 4 Episode 2, are both remembered very fondly, there's a period surrounding the tournament that's yet to be covered. We've covered this story's middle, its end, and its epilogue - now, its time to discuss its beginnings.

I've said before that Season 4 Episode 1 is kind of defined wholly by the tournament event itself, but given that it only took up around 2 months of actual channel time that may come off as a bit strange. That's because, much like the video game series that most directly inspired it, the King for Another Day Tournament did an incredible job in maintaining hype up until its release though reveals and trailers. These being the reveals of, of course, the new contestants - with a roster size doubled from Season 3's King for a Day Tournament, it left 16 characters to be revealed piecemeal in the buildup to the event. Channel creator Chaze the Chat described that he wanted Season 4 to be the most unpredictable and surprising Season yet, and we of course saw that outside of KFAD in rips like Sex - Steve Harvey and the entirety of Chain of Memories II Day - but the way the character reveals were done also played part in this element of surprise! The rip of today, Character Select BGM (KFAD2 Mode), is one of many other rips that contain a secret character reveal trailer within - hidden in the sea of normal channel uploads, these secret character reveals would be shown only to those who truly kept an eye out on every rip the channel uploaded.

Better yet, all these trailers were hidden at the very end of rips - and just like Chaze the Chat had warned, there was no telling what to expect from these rips even if they contained character reveals (shoutouts to Stronger than Mr Krab for being actually deranged). It was the hunt for the character reveals that made me click on rips like Character Select BGM (KFAD2 Mode) to begin with back in the day, as I have little to no connection to rhythm games like REFLEC BEAT VOLZZA, and yet it absolutely paid off in just how solid of a rip this is. This is a no-nonsense quality rip across the board, a high-octane melody swap medley with an energetic and fun sound derived from the source track. Creatively yet seamlessly, it begins by including themes relating to the Christmas Comeback Crisis such as The Noble Haltmann and Wood Man's theme, before pivoting to focus on music broadly categorizable as ones more known within Japan's online remix communities - including music featured in other rhythm games, but also music such as that made by Yosuke Yasui. In effect, Character Select BGM (KFAD2 Mode) was just about the perfect rip to reveal Rhythm Masters in, as a perfect blend of SiIva's own set of jokes and the potential kinds of rips the contestant itself could offer.

Excitement for KFAD was in the air for most of 2019, and it was through rips just like this that said excitement was maintained. And even though I myself lacked the connection needed to rhythm games to really have their reveal and place in the tournament hit home, experiencing that reveal in the way the channel did kept me excited all the same.

in my defense, the music in the next area is great so i didn't want to leave and i'm almost to the boss i think? Reverie, Yukiko, and Kanji make a DEADLY team, and while I am Big Mad at Yosuke:

he starts every battle first and has tentafoo/Cause Panic. so. he's just maddeningly useful, idk what to say.

Huh I somehow thought the other character was next but it's Rise time!

Man. I like Rise a lot. Out of all the romance options she's the only one I'm considering at all because she's neat. Rise is an idol who is taking a break from the business to return home to Inaba and recuperate. And right from go, she is just on another level from everyone else.

She knows about the Midnight Channel (though doesn't understand it's a supernatural hit list yet) and is aware of the dangers around her. The Idol business in all its forms across the world fucking Sucks and it's clear to see it's had an effect on her, like emotional stretch marks from having to mature really fucking fast. She's been in her late 20s since she was 13 and it shows.

Oh and she's working in her family's tofu shop for the time being.

Anyway aw shit Rise inadvertently reveals to Dojima that we're working this case. Worse, Dojima is not immediately angry or confrontational about it. OH NO, he purposefully avoids being confrontational about it.

Instead he puts Adachi on our tail.

Look at that man's face. Does this motherfucker have a single candle on behind those eyes.

Which leads to discovering a stalker who Adachi arrests as the murderer.

GODDAMMIT ADACHI. Whatever, it gets him out of our fucking hair.

buuuuut in that time, Rise got got. goddddddfuckingdammit.

An idol who's shadow self is on some level genuinely an exhibitionist. Whoo boy that's... a lot. Also, out of all the shadows, I find Rise's the most creepy, weirdly? Maybe because Idol Culture scares the shit out of me and I don't even remotely understand the appeal. It's like this terrifying black box of concepts I can't divine anything out of.

In TV World, I feel SUPER BAD for Teddie. I keep flying through these dungeons in one or two days and not really coming back to the TV World to see him. Which is a shame because I genuinely love Teddie! I think he's top three characters for me right now.

I was trained in the unhallowed halls of Tartarus, I know how to curbstomp a dungeon, okay? I wish I was around more for Teddie. 8C

YOSUKE HANAMURA WE ARE GONNA STEP OUTSIDE IF YOU MAKE TEDDIE SAD, DO YOU HEAR ME?

i just went from Big Mad to cackle in like a minute. CHIE OH MY GOD. "Aw buddy, you're sad? Yeah, you can hit on me, I'm cool with that!" i'm dying. it kind of says a lot about Chie's opinion of Teddie vs everyone else since she's the one who shoved the boys into the river at camp.

She has standards, is what I'm saying, and I respect them immensely.

Yosuke is 12 and living in Tatsumi Port when he realises. It hits him like a punch to the gut, except he thinks a punch would be better in this scenario.

His “friends” from school still don’t call. They don’t drop by to offer help with packing. They don’t talk to him when they see him around town.

But they also held him when he cried, they listened when he ranted about his dad, they stopped him from punching things when he became angry.

Silver lining, Yosuke supposes.

There are good and bad aspects about everywhere, Yosuke has figured out. Chie and Yukiko are good aspects, definitely.

Yosuke is 17 and living in Inaba when he realises. It hits him like a punch to the gut, except he thinks a punch would be better in this scenario.

“If I told you that my parents are letting me stay in Inaba for this school year, too?”

Yosuke feels like he’s been punched in the gut twice. Once because his best friend is staying here again, his best friend will be within arm’s reach once again.

Twice because Yosuke realises he likes Yu as more than just a best friend.

“I’d welcome you home, partner.”
