notes: my soul connection sent me some pictures of younghoon and asked me to write something. ok, that's not even close to the plot i thought (i want to improve on this next time) but i decided to post this today because my mind thought of something cute and for a sunday end, this is super cozy. hope you like it!

Being in a relationship with Kim Younghoon was wonderful and consequently having surprises throughout the days, weeks and even months.

You could tell you had gotten used to some unusual request from the guy after work, or simply when he got home and saw him with a backpack on his shoulders on Friday night.

“Let's go to the beach this weekend” he would smile so excited that you could only laugh.

“But Hoon…”

"I already arranged what we need, you just agree".

It was impossible to say no. Even because he always had the best ideas and you, a girlfriend without much creativity and much love in your heart, agreed with everything he proposed to do. And this went on for six long years. Walking through the city streets at night with a coffee in your right hand and Youngoon's fingers intertwined with yours on your left hand.

Seeing the guy rent a motorbike and put the helmet on his head after he swore he knew how to ride it - with some lessons given by Sunwoo, but he didn't want you to know that as he was about to climb on the pillion.

“What if I fall from here?” Younghoon's fingers went through the clasp of the helmet to make sure it was securely fastened on his head.

"You won't" he laughed, kissing your lips sweetly right after "Just hold me tight around my waist, you can squeeze me because I won't let go of you."

When had he gotten so bold with words? Because Younghoon's attitudes were always surprising.

With so many things he did, even the beachside proposal with Jacob playing guitar as the soundtrack – the last minute song because Younghoon had forgotten his boom box, everyone had had too much to drink and Bae was the only one sober to to be able to help with the surprise – but even so, you had loved. And once again Kim Younghoon doing everything for you.

So many things that you felt like the luckiest woman in the world just to have someone like Hoonie by your side. And yet, inevitably, negative thoughts plagued your mind. If he does everything for you, how about giving back? You could do something at least once since he's always done so much. Being up front at least once and giving your – now – husband a surprise was the bare minimum after years of relationship.

And it was with that in mind that you wanted to surprise him before the guy left work. Not that you had never done anything for Younghoon in those years, but compared to him, his work in surprising was nothing short of paltry! He had the best ideas and was always one step ahead, so this time it had to be you. It was your turn to be there waiting for him with a cardboard holder with his favorite coffee while the cell phone application beeps, confirming the purchase of tickets for tonight's cinema. A movie away from home, something different before going back to the apartment and making dinner together. Maybe a recipe you had saved on the internet and he helped you measure the ingredients… Cooking with Younghoon always ended up in mess and lots of love. You wanted it that night.

Just didn't count on the rain that had formed.

"Shit. A thousand times shit” your voice cursed along with lightning as the droplets started hitting your hair. Your biggest struggle was trying to protect the coffees you had bought since hadn't brought an umbrella. But also, a lot of time buying movie tickets didn't have a minute left to see how the weather would be that end of the day?

“Come on Hoon, I hope it won't take long to leave…” the voice low and huddled in the corner of the only establishment across the street that had enough coverage that the coffee wouldn't get wet, at least. Your hair could dry in the movie theater bathroom, that was the least of her problems.

If not for the cell phone vibrating.

What if the following message wasn't from Younghoon.

I hope I'm seeing things, you thought to yourself looking through the notification bar of a screen with raindrops.

I'm on my way home, baby. I hope you're waiting for me with the bed really warm.

What? He was… Going home? So Younghoon had already left work without having seen you up front, how was that possible? Either he had left too early or he really hadn't seen you huddled against the rain and kissed goodbye to two cups of coffee that practically didn't exist anymore.

You didn't know if you were really crying or if the rain had already taken care of wetting you all over, just bothering to throw the coffee away and head home. You weren't sad with Younghoon, ever, but with yourself for not paying attention to the details of the weather. Like it was going to rain and you even saw it? It wasn't possible that nothing in the sky had indicated a – near – storm.

The way to your apartment was never so long and painful. You dragged yourself all the way with heavy and wet clothes, slight sniffles from the crying that did not stop coming out. How to explain to him what had happened? Because your cell phone had four calls from Younghoon, no doubt wanting to know where you were in the rain if not the apartment you two shared.

Your breath hitched in a sigh as you exited the elevator and walked the long steps to the front door of where you two lived. There he was, and no doubt with a worried look waiting for you.

"Sweetheart? Oh my God, what happened?" Younghoon ran out of the kitchen to meet you as soon as you arrived. When he took the bag off your shoulders and tried to help you undress with your coat, you collapsed. The crying came stronger accompanied by a few sobs “Are you okay? Tell me what happened, please.”

In addition to helping you take off all your wet clothes, he wouldn't stop hugging you. Little did he care if he got wet too. Younghoon didn't want to let go of you until you heard your voice, which came as a whisper.

“I don't know how to do anything right” you said between the bending of his neck in the middle of the tight hug that your husband didn't want to let go of.

“Don't say that” Younghoon stopped you then, pulling away to see your face closer. In a second he had already wiped away your tears and managed to dry your face with the sleeve of the dress shirt he was wearing “Was it at work? Did they tell you something that wasn't nice?"

“I just wish… I just wish…” you tried to take a deep breath and not cry even more after Younghoon rested his forehead on yours. Both breaths mingling with the intention that his calm breathing would make yours calm as well. And it had worked for a while, you stopped crying long enough to finish saying "I wanted to surprise you."

“Surprise for me?” Younghoon kept his eyes closed, his thumbs cupping your cheekbones to caress the icy skin freshly wet from tears and rain.

“I went to your work, bought coffee and tickets for the movie you said you wanted to see last week” your hands roamed Younghoon's long and strong arms, slowly sliding until you found his hands on your face “Just I forgot to see that today it was going to rain and I didn’t take an umbrella.”

“Oh baby” he chuckled softly, stopping the second he heard you cry again “Hey, don't cry…”

“I just wanted to surprise you once” a low sob “Because in years you've always done everything for me and I just wanted… Once… Damn…”

“Y/n, sweetheart” was a low blow when he called you that, you know, but giving in to the charms of the man in front of you was practically earned when he kissed your lips with such affection “You amaze me every day for the simple fact of existing.”

"What?"

“Seriously” he pulled back a little to get a better look at you “Surprise me by texting during the day to see how I'm doing. Or surprise me with my decorated snack jars, always with a little message for lunch” he smiled broadly “Do you think anyone over there has such a devoted wife?” you couldn't deny it, indeed.

“I just wanted to do something different like you do every week for both of us.”

“But I only do it to repay how amazing you are to me every day, without even measuring any effort” if Younghoon had to conquer you every day, the highest peak of today would be now, with that intense look on your face direction “You've done everything for me since the first day we met. And when you gave me that box of grape juice, I promised myself that I would do everything to surprise you every day for the rest of my life. Or I would be crazy not to.”

“You're really crazy” your hands palmed Younghoon's chest lightly, sliding down the collar of his shirt as he pulled you by the waist against your body.

"For you? Of course” he smiled before sliding his lips close to yours “But you really surprised me today, much more than cinema and coffee.”

"What? Why did I take a rain shower?” you laughed for the first time after the little disaster that had happened. Younghoon vehemently denied, squeezing his fingers around your waist more intensely.

“Because I never thought that being soaked in rainwater and wearing formal clothes would look so much more attractive than you already are” you wanted to pinch that nose and pinch that cute little mole it had just for making your cheeks burn. And before you could say anything else, Younghoon kissed your lips so softly that you wouldn't even have time to complain when he picked you up in his arms “And after a shower in the rain, we need to take a shower so we don't catch a cold. Even because you wet me too, don't you think?"

You looked at the wet chest covered by the dress shirt, knowing that it wasn't intentional, but at the same time how attractive he had been just straining his muscles by having you in his arms.

“Then take me to the bath, Kim Younghoon.”

“At your service, Kim Y/n” he kissed you one more time before walking to your shared room.

He would love to cuddle with you on the beach and feel your warmth against his skin. Sunwoo would also love to do some activities with you on the beach. He might want to go swimming, build sandcastles, or just relax and enjoy the view. A beach date with Sunwoo would be a perfect day. He would be so happy to spend time with you in his favorite place.

When Sunwoo spots you in a crowded place, he will ignore everyone else and make a beeline for you. He will have a sweet smile on his face and he will give you the best hug he can muster. LEE SANGYEON: nothing changes; he’s still the boss

he’s a ceo, but he’s the ceo of another company, not yours

you and sangyeon are actually really good friends, and met when your friends attempted to set you guys up because you were both majorly workaholic (and still are) and were in desperate need of a life

but instead of ending up dating, you both agreed that you wanted to postpone a relationship and focus on your careers first 💀 which is, in retrospect, the total opposite of the reason behind setting you guys up in the first place, but…

what’re you gonna do ig 🤡 you’re both the smartest idiots to ever exist

of course, though, sangyeon does have feelings for you and kinda feels (in)secure because he thinks that if you end up not finding anyone else, that you could reasonably fall back on him instead

plus, everybody thinks you guys are together anyway (“have you heard? yn’s engaged to the son of the lee business conglomerate…”); when people ask him about confirming or denying, he’s very good about replying in a well-mannered way “no, yn and i are just very good friends”, but sometimes he wants to just say “no comment” with a secretive smile and let people speculate (but he respects you too much to do that)

JACOB BAE: the assistant who is not your assistant

imagine the one scenario from that cheesy netflix romcom called set it up, wherein the assistants of two successful ceos attempt to set each other's bosses up with one another, but then said assistants fall in love w/ e/o instead

EXCEPT jacob's the executive assistant of some other ceo who is trying to ~woo~ you (quite poorly, might i add), and he's been tasked with sending you gifts and getting to know you

this basically means he knows you way better than his boss, who is supposed to be the person trying to win you over, but jacob ends up falling for you instead as he gets to know you and what you like and what you are like (and he's just absolutely enamored by your work ethic and compassion and ingenuity and—)

suffice to say that it's really not so difficult to write you romantic cards attached to flowers when he sends them to you, but it's awfully off-putting when he has to put his boss's name instead of his own

(you like jacob so much better than his boss anyway, and whenever you meet the two of them, you send him cheeky winks and smiles because you know)

like imagine the way this man offering to personally deliver today's little gift to your office to escape his work and to see you

AND THEN instead of just accepting the gift and dismissing him, you ask if he'd like to stay for lunch to, idk, "chat about his boss" (he'd just be overjoyed)

KIM YOUNGHOON: brand ambassador

ah, the beloved pretty face of the company—other than yourself (you are arguably a fine face for your company yourself, but celebrity endorsement is never not needed); now that you thought about it, your company did employ a lot of pretty faces…

anyway! kim younghoon's obviously gotta be some big, rising actor star person and he's got the big name, the great smile, the clear charisma, and when he signed on to become an official partner of your company to endorse the product, you were over the moon

because he was your biggest stroke of luck in this realm, and your first, you and he actually got to work very closely in the early days of shoots and branding, up to the point where younghoon became a lot more involved in the marketing than just sitting pretty and smiling on a billboard (he had beauty and brains… hard not to fall for this one)

oftentimes, he would send you invitations to his red carpet events to be his plus one, too. just imagine sharing a limo with this guy, giggling in the backseat as you make funny faces at the paparazzi outside, and then holding onto his arm as the two of you posed at premieres

(oh my god and he would be SO cheeky if people asked if you two were dating smh like lee sangyeon, who??)

LEE HYUNJAE: head of the legal department

oh, you know this man's gonna be a little shitter—but he's also the best in the legal realm, and you couldn't exactly pass up the chance to be represented by lee hyunjae (who could've been the district attorney, but decided he wanted to take on the cutthroat world of business law instead lmao)

okay but please, he probably looks super fine in those crisp, fresh-pressed suits and the thin-wired specs as he takes on the courtroom (did someone turn up the heat…?)

i'm sorry i will move on TT

MOVING ON! you and he have probably been friends for a long time, maybe since high school or college, and so you got to see him rise during his career. he was probably one of the first people to encourage you to start the business, and sat with you through really long nights drawing up contracts and foundations and going through all the red tape

so maybe he's the best friend type, but he knows not only your business inside and out, but also knows a lot about you too

he's probably gotten so many offers to join other legal teams, but he loves the one he's built here and he can't really see himself representing any other company but yours? you yourself don't get into a lot of trouble, but he does find immense pleasure in taking care of anyone who thinks they can mess with you or tarnish your name

LEE JUYEON: vp of human resources

nobody is more equipped to handle the dramatics of hr than our lovely baby boy juyo 🤩🤩

some people might doubt his abilities because of his good looks (pretty privilege or sumn lmao) but he's got a work ethic of steel and a heart of pure gold; you don't trust your new recruits with anyone else but lee juyeon

pretty much everyone under your employ has gone through the hiring process with juyeon and even though he's very soft and charming, he can also be honest enough to cut out anyone who doesn't fit the work ethic the company might require of them (but on the same note, he's also got enough faith to be able to see the good and potential in people to give them a chance)

if anyone's got a problem, you can almost always count on juyeon to help you out

you and juyeon are often seen lunching together to talk about performance management, employee relations, and other associated policies in order to keep up to date with those and up to date with each other, because even though you are boss and employee, you're still good friends

juyeon's also no stranger to the world of brand ambassadorship, and he's one of the people who helped bridge the gap between you and the limelight, especially networking with people like younghoon

and it definitely helps that juyeon is also pretty enough to be on the cover of your company's billboards too 🥴

KEVIN MOON: global ambassador/vp global relations and investment

you didn’t even realize that you’d get to the point where your company was large enough to need to think of global expansion, so kevin’s coming onto the board of directors became a blessing and a huge marker of your company’s success

he’s everything you’re looking for in a global ambassador: charismatic, down-to-earth, creative, diplomatic, fluent in like 20357038 languages (english, korean, japanese, some french, etc.)

you and kevin actually took a trip to a location abroad to a prospective new office branch, which gave you and him lots of time to bond and become familiar with working with one another (changmin was left in charge, and though he was jealous that you didn’t even think to bring him, he was honored to manage the company in your stead; you and the rest of your board of directors met up at the location too so it wasn’t like it was just you and kevin ‘cause that would be… a little too much scandal for the rising employee)

anyway, kevin basically loves travelling and he always offers you this one guest house villa/timeshare he has in the location for you to stay at when you’re in town

like, whenever he hears you're in town, you know he's coming to pick you up in a pair of aviators and a convertible, and treating you to the absolute best the city has to offer

CHOI CHANHEE: vp of finance

chanhee's definitely your stereotypical, run-of-the-mill finance person, and not the Finance Bro™, but like the glasses-wearing, shrewd, calculating, and eagle-eyed excel spreadsheet wizard who doesn't take "impossible" for an answer

well, "impossible" only if it applies to certain financial constraints, but you hired this man in particular because you were confident in his ability to deal with money

and he definitely has not let you down

he's not really outgoing when you first meet him, but once you get to know him and the two of you start working together a lot more often, he starts to open up to you and you get to see more to him than just his smarts and snark

he's actually quite shy and, frankly, adorable, once you get to know him, and it's really fascinating to watch him work whether it's with just his mental calculator or with his extensive excel knowledge (he once did a presentation on excel and navigated the entire thing with just the keyboard and to say you were a little too entranced by his finger movements would be an understatement…)

is shy at first when he receives your praise, but is much more smug when he knows you better later on and catches you staring; imagine he offers to teach you his excel wizarding tricks and just leans over your shoulder and places his hand over yours on the mouse (*malfunctions*)

JI CHANGMIN: the assistant™ (i'm sorry, but are we surprised…)

oh boy, where do we even begin with this one?

well for starters, there are a handful of reasons you decided to hire changmin as your personal assistant/secretary even though he didn’t really have experience in the realm other than some desk job a few summers ago

he’s got an attitude that takes no shit from anyone (similar to chanhee), he’s got an approachable face, but he’s also got the ability to scare anyone off or into doing their work on time

changmin’s a really hard worker, and somehow worms himself into your heart and your office, always insisting that he stay at the office until you go home, too

gives anyone who presents themselves as a threat to his close, right-hand-man standing with you the bombastic side eye and a very scary smile

rip to changmin whenever he’s approached by reporters about your alleged “engagement” to lee sangyeon (very quick to shut those rumors down; even asks if you’d like him to contact the legal department but you brush it off as unimportant)

but besides always being your first line of defense (to be there for you), whenever sangyeon isn’t in town, he’s always your next choice to bring along to fancy galas/events (gives him the excuse to let you see him in a light that’s not just your scarily efficient assistant)

i liken assistant!changmin to the mistresses of kings who protected their positions ruthlessly (except no one in this is inbred and changmin totally wouldn’t poison any possible competition, right… haha right? right??)

JU HAKNYEON: college crush → celebrity crush 😎😎😎

to be completely real with you, haknyeon’s had a crush on you ever since college days when he was delivering pizzas to your neighbor and always saw you either coming in or out of your own apartment

you were always really friendly, greeting him with a sweet smile and appropriate “good morning”/”good night”

he occasionally saw you on campus and knew of your reputation as an ambitious and innovative go-getter, and he thought your energies matched really well

but for some reason, he was always too shy to ask you to hang out (maybe he was embarrassed that he was just the pizza delivery guy, but then again, you never indicated that you looked down on him for that)

he went abroad to go to this really great culinary school though, and eventually came back to open his own place

he had always planned to reach out to you and invite you to the opening, but it’s even greater now that you can both reunite as successful versions of your younger selves

(he invites you to his restaurant often, and always has a table reserved for you; almost always sits down to share a meal with you and catch up like he always wanted to do in college)

KIM SUNWOO: the one new paparazzi guy

he has no clue what is going on half the time to be honest lol but he's been hired, given a press pass, and now has a big boy job. what's the job? paying attention to you! well, it's a little more complicated than that…

when sunwoo majored in journalism, he didn't think that he'd be spending his day camping outside your company building for an exclusive interview with you

he didn't really understand your appeal until he was sitting in the lobby of your top floor office across from a very scary-looking assistant waiting for you to be ready to give him that exclusive interview

he definitely becomes a fan of everything about you afterward: from how you run things to the very way you made his coffee in your office—plus, he wrote one hell of an article on you and he got a great promotion because of you (he still doesn't know what he's doing half the time)

anyways, whenever something about you comes up at his publishing firm, he always worms his way into being in charge of it, and if anyone says anything bad about you, he's one of the first people to defend you

lmao he's also always the one who asks changmin if you and lee sangyeon are an item just to annoy your assistant (even if sunwoo is also secretly hoping that you and sangyeon aren't...)

ERIC SOHN: the intern who spilled coffee on you the first day

i feel bad for doing eric so dirty, but tell me you can also see him rushing down the hall with open coffee cups in either of his hands and he doesn’t even see you coming toward him until he—CRASH!—absolutely destroys the blouse you’re wearing and he’s a total, blubbering mess

he’s so afraid that he’s about to get fired on his first day, because anyone who doesn’t work directly under you believes you’re super scary, but you don’t fire him

he comes back the next day in fear of his life whenever he even hears about you

you bump into him (less literally than before) in one of the break rooms because you ran out of tea packets in your office and you soothe his worries

like literally made him smile and giggle like a school girl until he could look you in the eyes without cowering—

cue the literal heart eyes he has for you now instead of pure fear (he always peeks out of the copy room whenever he hears you coming down the hall so he can greet you)

𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬 : the start of a fresh semester at barden university marks the continuation of a century-old fued or, in other words – the showdown between the treblemakers and the bellas.

FIVE MEMORIES OF REALIZATION.

❛ i had one purpose, and the purpose was to realize that that incident was the greatest mistake i have ever made in my entire life. ❜

YOUNGHOON WAS FUCKED FOR SURE.

He couldn't remember anything for shit, and oh the headache he was having right now was the worst. He couldn't even see anything, even though he had his eyes open, and could feel the movement of them opening and closing as he panicked, all he saw was a color darker than the black he knew. He couldn't feel his body on a surface, it's like he was floating.

He figured this was a dream of some sort, but was starting to panic even more as he faded into sleep. His body felt weak. And then, he finally drifted off.

Only a few seconds later, he jolted awake suddenly, trying to regain his breath while desperately practicing any type of breathing exercise that came to his mind. He felt like he was drowning for a full second, hopelessly trying to reach the shore above. But there was no shore in Younghoon’s case, in fact, he had no clue where the hell he was.

He was in a white room, like—completely white. Everything there was white, the bed he was laying on, the chairs around, the tables and—wait, who is that?

There walked in a woman, everything she wore was also white, she had beautiful long and curly brown hair, thick eyebrows with long eyelashes to compliment her look. Younghoon thought she looked beautiful, if he had to say so himself.

She then laughed, “why thank you.”

Younghoon’s eyes widened in shock, did he really say that out loud? He just embarrassed himself before proper introduction.

“No, you didn’t.” The woman responded. She walked into a part of the room that looked like the kitchen, not different to any of the other rooms as it was also white. She poured some water into her cup and used a spoon to mix the solution. “Tea?”

“Um,” Younghoon by now had already guessed that she could read his mind, so he tried his best to keep his thoughts silent. “No thanks.”

“Hm, shame.” She held her white up and walked towards Younghoon, sitting comfortably on the sofa in front of him.

“Are you an Angel?” Younghoon asked bluntly, not knowing where his sudden confidence came from. He didn’t care though, he did almost die a few moments ago. At this point, he was gonna take any type of risk without rethinking the consequences that would take place.

“Well,” she responded while laughing, “you could say that I am sort of an angel I suppose.”

“So,” Younghoon awkwardly shifted on his bed, looking around the white room for a second inspection then finally settling his eyes on the woman in front of him once more. “I’m in heaven?”

“No, you’re not.” Before Younghoon could panic, she continued. “At least not yet.”

Obviously, that did not help with calming down Younghoon. “What the hell do you mean by not yet?”

“It is as simple as you hear it Mr. Kim,” she addresses him formally which makes the situation even more awkward, at least that’s what Younghoon thinks. But that doesn’t matter now, what matters is that he doesn't know where he is, hell he might even die in a few seconds, depending on what the lady in front of him decides to do.

“Oh, but it’s not my decision to let you die or not,” she smiles with what seems to be an attempt at a comforting smile, yet it still didn’t help Younghoon feel any better. “Believe it or not, it is yours.”

“This has to be a dream of some sort,” Younghoon curls his body up and puts his head into his hands, “you have to be fucking with me.”

“Unfortunately I am not, I can assure you that this is very much real.” She sighs before placing her cup of tea on the small table in front of her, completely ignoring the fact that he had just swore in the presence of an angel, her. “The car accident that you’ve been in a few hours ago was caused by you, and since it was ruled as an accident, you have a chance to fix your mistake. Right here, right now.”

“I’m sorry, I’m not following,” Younghoon shook his head, “I’m not even supposed to be here, I’m supposed to either die or come back alive, I don’t know! You’re the angel here.”

“Indeed I am,” she stood up and walked around the room, looking around, leaving Younghoon confused from behind her. She paused in her footsteps as she looked at a small painting of a water fountain. After some thought, she looked back at Younghoon with a sigh. “You’ve been brought back to me, so I could help you fix your mistake, and find your soulmate.”

“My soulmate is already dead.” Younghoon angrily spoke up at the mention of a soulmate, “I’ve given up already, can we let that go?”

“I’m afraid we cannot,” she smiled warmly and walked towards him, pointing her finger to his face. “I advise you to close your eyes Mr. Kim.”

Younghoon didn’t have time to react as a bright light engulfed and took over his vision completely.

FIRST MEMORY.

Younghoon slowly uncovered his eyes when he realized he couldn’t hear anything. He blinked a couple of times as he tried to regain his already gained vision. Rubbing his eyes with a sigh he quietly stood up and scanned the place around him, he looked like he was in a backroom of some sort–a storage room. There were boxes all around him, before he could even reach the boxes and uncover whatever laid under, a voice interrupted his actions.

That voice was yours.

His head whipped around for his eyes to slowly rest on your figure. You were holding two large boxes that looked quite heavy. He knew you tried to hide it, but it was pretty obvious from the facial expression on your face that you were exhausted. You placed the box on the ground and gently laid your head on a stack of boxes that reached your height. You quickly regained your composure a few seconds later as a voice called your name.

There came out of the dark an older woman, who looked to be in her 70s, walking towards you with a limp in her walk and a small smile on her face. She held your face in her hands and placed a gentle kiss on your forehead.

“Thank you so much for helping me out child,” she took your hand and faced your palm towards the direction of the ceiling, placing a couple of coins in your hand before closing it into a fist.

“Mrs. Lee, I’m fine really, I just wanted to help—” you attempted to persuade her, but she shook her head with a smile.

“You were the only one who helped,” she replied with the smile still on her face, although it was slowly turning into a bittersweet one. “You’re not related to me in blood, unlike my children, yet you still wanted to help.”

Her small whisper broke Younghoon’s heart, he couldn’t understand how they wouldn’t help her with such simple tasks, leaving their mother all alone in her lonely place.

She removed her hand from yours and sighed, “you could wait with me until I close up, if you wish to stay for some tea with me. Although, you are of course free to leave as always.”

You nodded tiredly as a smile formed on your face, matching the one on Mrs. Lee’s face, “I’d love to have some tea with you.”

“That’s great!” She exclaimed, very excited to talk with you later. “I will be working on the cashier, you rest here for a bit.”

With a small nod you replied, too tired to speak, watching her stand out of the storage room and walk off. As soon as you were sure that she was out of your eye sight, you collapsed. Younghoon attempted to catch you but ended up falling with you as he realized that his hand went right through you. His eyes studied your lips as they parted, trying to make the breathing process a bit easier for yourself.

He looked back into your eyes that were staring at whatever was behind him, and slowly but shakingly tried to place your hand beside your cheek, caressing it softly and ignoring the times his hand went through you.

Younghoon sighed as the place started to slowly fade, as well as everything in front of him.

SECOND MEMORY.

Younghoon’s eyes land on the students that walk around him, not paying attention to him. Of course, he isn’t surprised by that fact. He already has accepted that he is somehow invincible, stuck in his memories filled by you. Why you?

He questions where you are in the groups of students when a voice from behind him catches his attention.

“I don’t think I will ever understand any homework that she assigns, I swear!”

You laugh at their comment and walk beside them, following their pace. “It’s not that bad really, maybe you just hate the professor.”

“Or maybe you’re just too good at this subject!” They exclaim at your reply of defense, “you’re like the top student in her class.”

“I guess I just understand everything that she says easily,” you shrugged your shoulders and paused your walking to face your friend, once you realized you reached their class. “Or maybe it’s because I grew up with my family’s obsession with this whole major, I guess.”

Your friend rolled their eyes at your explanation that they had already heard, from all the times that you have told them and your other friends of small bits of your childhood in nostalgic conversations. Before they could speak, you cut them off with a quick offer. “If you want, I could help you like always.”

“Oh my god yes!” Your friend accepts with a smile as they squish you with a tight yet friendly hug. “Thank you so much!”

“It’s no problem really,” you break the contact and look back at them with the same smile, “see you later?”

“I’ll see you after my class, thank you again!”

Younghoon watches the friend walks to their class with a tinge of jealousy in his eyes, he then looks back at you and raises his eyebrows when he sees you reading from your phone. He walks over to your side and reads the email that the teacher has sent, explaining the assignment.

Now that you have— not one, but two assignments to work on for your class, you are definitely going to be busier than usual today. Younghoon wishes that he could help you, but knows he is incapable of doing anything currently.

He sighs sadly.

THIRD MEMORY.

Younghoon finds himself in a place full of crowded people yet again, though he’s not in his school’s campus, but a busy street. He is specifically in front of a random charity store.

He feels himself slowly becoming disappointed when he notices everyone ignoring the store and going their way, realizing that the store had been empty for a while.

Just as he had been wishing, you finally walked by him. Your steps suddenly pause, as well as Younghoon who was planning to follow you and walk by your side. He watches you walk towards the shop with a worried look in your eyes, he could tell you were contemplating whether or not to get inside and donate.

With only a small amount of money in your wallet, you head into the store with an optimistic smile. Greeting the person behind the counter kindly and handing the money they had.

Younghoon watched you with a bitter smile on his face, finding it quite bittersweet. With each memory he learns more and more about your kind heart.

FOURTH MEMORY.

“Huh?” Younghoon whispers to himself as he scans the place around him, he finds the place familiar, as if he had been in it before. The brick walls of the alleyway cover him.

“Aww, hello there,” you coo at the kittens and the mom that were excited at the smell of food, the cat food that you bought from the pet shop down the street. “Oh, aren’t you all so cute?”

He realizes from the familiar clothes that you wore, that this memory might have been made on the same day as the charity place memory.

Younghoon turned his attention from the walls onto you, who’s crouched down and petting the cats as they eat the food that you put down for them. He walks over and crouches down as well, the smile on his face blooms as he looks at your face. He wonders if he’s ever paid attention to these special facial features on your face before.

His attention goes back to the cats in front of him. He attempts to pet them but his hands go through them obviously, yet he still pretends as if he’s petting them normally. The cat meows at him and he pauses in response, feeling surprised at the cat feeling his presence, if not even being touched by him.

He looks back at you and feels his cheek go warm as a pretty pink settles over his face. Younghoon definitely knows what his favorite memory is now.

FIFTH MEMORY.

“The flower shop, aye?” Hyunjin asks you.

“Well, yeah I guess,” you giggle in reply, “Mrs. Lee needed some help and I offered to help around the store here and there. I also go there sometimes to just talk with her, she’s become a great friend.”

“That’s great to hear,” Younghoon snaps his head in horror as he looks at himself, sitting in his respective seat. Memory Younghoon flashes a smile while you shyly look away and back at Hyunjin, continuing the conversation.

He remembers this memory clearly, as he had been in that position before, sitting in a coffee shop with his friends, chatting about anything and everything. You were there too, which makes sense why he was viewing this memory.

Younghoon, though, was now even more confused than he was before, the lady in the white room never explained that this could be possible. But, he guesses that anything could be possible when some sort of angel is involved.

The conversation continues and eventually comes to an end, everybody packs up their stuff and leaves— including Memory Younghoon. Out of everybody, only you and Hyunjin stay.

“When are you going to tell him?”

You choke on your drink, and Younghoon raises his eyebrows in confusion, while looking back and forth at the two of you. “Tell who?” You ask and act clueless, as if you don’t know what she’s talking about.

“You know exactly what I’m talking about Y/N,” she leaned in closer and crossed her arms. She whispers angrily, "when are you going to stop ignoring those dreams? I’ve been telling you that the only possible way to end the dreams might be just to tell him about them.”

“I don’t know,” you put your cup down and bite your lip anxiously, “I can’t just walk up to him randomly and be like ‘oh hey, I’m your soulmate, by the way,’ especially after—”

“Exactly!” Hyunjin cuts you off and leans back with a scoff, “that's exactly why he deserves to know. After Younghoon has told us that there's no chance that he has a soulmate, you could change that completely. His soulmate— is you.”

Younghoon stares at your face as you continue on talking, but your voice has been blocked out from his mind. The only thing he could focus on was you, and nothing else around him. He was in shock, he couldn’t form a sound and felt like everything surrounding him was going in slow motion.

He snapped and was brought back to reality as soon as he noticed everything around him fade, his panic began to settle in as he ran towards you and tried catching your attention. He yelled and called out your name multiple times, but to no avail, no response was said from you.

Before the bright light engulfed his vision, he screamed at the top of his lungs and declared that his soulmate was you, Y/N L/N, all along. He wished in the couple of seconds that he had left that he would be given more time with you, not in memories, but in real time.

Younghoon’s eyes open and he stares back at the white ceiling that greeted him, panic engulfs him as he begins to think that he failed, and was sent back to the angel and the white room that he awoke in before.

He sits up with sudden energy, and then the pain finally takes in. He shouts in pain and holds his head in both hands, breathing quick as he tries to regain his vision and focus on the furniture that is placed in front of his bed. His screams and shouts catch the attention of nurses outside the room, and as the nurses surround him with quick moves, he is brought back to unconsciousness yet again.

He wakes up a few hours later, and the headache greets him as soon as he opens his eyes, he groans and sits up— slower than last time. Younghoon looks around the room and is surprised to see a nurse there too, organizing some things in the corner.

“Excuse me?” Younghoon speaks up.

“Yes?” The nurse replies and turns around to face him, “do you need anything?”

“Oh no,” Younghoon shakes his head then clears his throat, “just, how long have I been here?”

“About two weeks,” the nurse replies with a warm and professional smile on his face.

“The two people that were with me that day, are they okay?” Younghoon asks with worry in his voice, hoping nothing that he didn’t want to happen comes out of the nurse’s mouth.

“Yes, they are,” he responds with the same positive energy. “Fortunately, the accident injured one and almost killed the other, but they are alive, thankfully.”

“Oh,” Younghoon couldn’t explain how relieved he felt at that moment, “thank you so much.”

“It’s no problem.”

Later that day, after laying in his bed and doing nothing but eating, he is notified that he has a visitor. He looks at the door expecting some of his family members to walk in, but is surprised to see Hyunjin walk in with a bouquet of flowers.

“Hi Younghoon,” Hyunjin places the bouquet beside him on the table and sits on the chair beside the bed. “Very good to see you alive and well.”

“Hyunjin,” he stares at her with his mouth open, unsure if he wants to tell her or not. Hyunjin tilts her head and waits for him to talk, and Younghoon talks. “I know that Y/N is my soulmate.”

Her jaw drops and the two of them sit in silence, with Hyunjin confused as ever at what she had just heard.

A week later, Younghoon had regained most control over his body, and was granted permission to visit his friends, and he knew exactly who he would visit first. He stared at the door of your room with contemplated thoughts, then finally pushed the door open and walked in.

He closed the door behind him and looked at your surprised face, surprised that he would visit you at such a time. Before you could ask him how he was, he cuts you off with a small greeting.

“Hi soulmate,” with simple words that came from his mouth, all hell broke loose in your mind.

Your jaw dropped at his words, similar to Hyunjin’s reaction from before, making him chuckle quietly. He watched as you looked at him with shock, stunned and dazed to the point where you couldn’t move, unable to think. You couldn’t process or think of a way of how he found out the truth.

His smile stretched wider, Younghoon thinks to himself and decides that he had lied before, this is definitely his new favorite memory. However, he wonders. He wonders if this favorite memory would ever change, as he knows for a fact that both of your lives have now merged, creating a new future full of memories that include the both of you— together, as you two should be.

Memories that will definitely be more than five this time.

notes: welcome to our dear hoon's first story on this tumblr! to my friend eva who asked for this song and this genre, i hope i don't make you cry, but that you enjoy reading as much as i enjoyed writing. and to all who accompany me… enjoy!

The TV along with the noise of the rain outside were the only sounds you could hear inside your apartment. Checking your phone every five minutes to see if he'd texted you, making your heart race even faster with no signal.

Of course, it was raining and Younghoon's job was downtown, by this time the avenues were completely full and you knew your fiancé too well to know how cautious he was when driving. But then you wouldn't blame yourself if you called him or worried even more that you didn't even have a message from him all that time.

It's raining, calm down, you tried to think positive. Imagining the times Younghoon would turn on the car stereo and turn the music down to try not to get stressed with all that traffic before getting home. Maybe he would have done it this time.

Or not. Because the bang of the front door made you jump off the couch in fright. For him to arrive like that, the path could not have been so peaceful.

“Love” you called him and got up from the couch. Holding back the urge to laugh seeing Younghoon completely soaked and holding his briefcase “Oh my God, are you ok?”

You ran towards him, quickly taking off your coat three times as heavy as usual, throwing it completely to the ground. That could be cleaned up later.

"I forgot my umbrella, there was only a spare parking space here in the building and I hate working downtown" he collapsed in seconds, huffing at the sight of you not being able to hold back a small laugh.

But he wouldn't fight, he knew it was funny seeing it from another perspective.

"Bad day?" you leaned down to touch your lips to his, feeling the frost of the boy's mouth that was starting to turn purple.

“Terrible” he grumbled.

“How about a hot bath?” you took the suitcase from Younghoon's hands "In the meantime I'll prepare you something to eat."

He was so tired that he didn't even say anything, he just nodded and went up to the shared room thinking only about the hot shower. Every little drop that landed on his body was a tranquilizer for every stressful second he'd had since he left.

And it was inside the bathroom stall that he felt even worse. Coming home and meeting you was all he wanted, but when it happened, Younghoon could only think of stress. All his energies were drained and he couldn't even be loving enough with his own bride. Perhaps the punishment for forgetting the umbrella would be far worse.

Not that you took those little seconds of Younghoon's bad mood to heart, you knew he needed his own time to compose himself. But in his mind it was unacceptable for something like this to happen. It wasn't your fault and he needed to fix it.

Maybe he should be the one to make dinner after the shower. Or as he turned off the shower and dried off, he thought of something he could give you the next day, as there were little shops near where he worked that could help. Or the two of you could go out for the weekend away from everything you did on a daily basis, even your apartment. A new place, a fresh air…

As he put on some warmer clothes and thought about what he would actually do, Younghoon stopped by the bedside table where your things were. An almost empty water bottle that you refilled every night before bed, your reading glasses and the newest favorite of the moment. It ends with us it was already read for the third time, if he knew how to count for sure, then surely you loved that book.

“I got an idea” he took the object and flipped through a few pages to quickly read something he could use. It was a novel from what Younghoon remembered hearing you say, so he, like a fool in love, might try to redeem himself with something you were reading. Younghoon just didn't count on his sudden presence in the room.

"Ouch!" he screamed in fright, dropping the book to the floor. Another wave of laughter, this time he had to follow along because it really had been comical.

“What are you doing with my book?” your voice was soft and soothing to the boy in a state of fresh fright. He took the book and placed it where it came from, turning around and looking into your eyes.

Younghoon didn't respond, although his footsteps were directed towards you, and as soon as he got close enough, one of his hands touched your face.

“Do you have any idea how many doors I’ve knocked on to find you?” he added more intonation to his voice, making you laugh.

“Reciting one of my favorite books?”

"And it worked?" he countered, making you laugh even harder.

With no verbal response you just pulled him out of the room to show what you had prepared for Younghoon while he was in the shower. The boy was thinking all the time that he would have to do something for you that he hadn't even realized the opposite had happened.

He came across two oversized packets of chips and the couch piled high with pillows and blankets.

"What…"

“Remember our relaxing time?” you asked.

There was no way he could forget what he himself had started. With about four months of dating and university days, Younghoon knew that they both stressed a lot with courses, teachers and assignments. He couldn't admit being so angry about one thing, arriving to spend time with his girlfriend and staying the same.

“We need a relaxing time” he hummed after a little argument you guys had, perhaps one of the only ones in university because of the overload. Younghoon didn't want to be at war with the one person who would be his refuge from all this. The relaxing moment came so improvised, he didn't even know what he was doing when he threw all those covers on the couch in the apartment he shared with his best friends. This followed as a ritual at least once a week when you watched movies together or just enjoyed each other's company for a few hours.

It was evident that this had been lost a bit after you moved in together, but it wasn't because neither of you wanted to, but because sleeping together could already be seen as a relaxing time. But seeing that you had remembered something that meant so much made Younghoon's eyes water without him noticing.

“Oh God, what did I do to deserve such a perfect bride?” he whispered fearing you wouldn't hear as they walked over to the couch to snuggle up, but looking at the huge smile that formed on your lips he knew you'd heard.

“To be an equally perfect groom” you whispered back after you snuggled into his chest, feeling Younghoon's arms hug you as protectively as possible.

The controller in your hands went straight to the movie app that you could spend hours choosing, it didn't matter. To smell him and feel him so close was worth all the time.

“You know,” after a few seconds of silence, just watching the movie options go by, he said quietly. Your attention was totally on Younghoon, even though your eyes hadn't taken off the TV "We can live in love in slow motion…"

"You think?" your body moved enough that she could look at him now. The rogue smile forming on Younghoon's lips made your heart race right away.

"I have loved you since we were eighteen" the little sigh trailing off at the end of the sentence, the smile never leaving his lips as he continued "Long before we both thought the same thing. To be loved, to be in love…"

“Don't you regret it?” you bit your bottom lip a little unsure and felt like a fool for still having that kind of fear. But feeling his arms around you a little tighter was that kind of reassurance you needed.

“Not for a second. I would do anything again to have you here with me” he kissed your forehead “We took a chance. God knows, we tried... Yet all along, I knew we'd be fine.”

“I love you so much” you hugged him back, by this point completely forgetting that the movies were still waiting to be chosen. It didn't matter anymore when you could hear Younghoon's heartbeat speeding up as you held him tighter against your body. “I love what we were in the beginning, I love what we've become. I love both of us so much.”

"Then we're getting married tomorrow" he said amusedly, as usual, making you laugh at the exact moment a lone tear fell on your cheek. The relief of feeling safe and loved was so much that you needed to get out somehow, and that little tear was the way to expand the feeling.

"Hoonie…" you muttered, lifting your head to look into his eyes. He looked like a crybaby with his lips jutting forward and his eyes red “Our amazing day is already booked.”

“I don't want to wait another three months, y/n. I want tomorrow.”

“Stop being a baby” you kissed his lips quickly, lifting your hands so you could cup his face “It will go by fast, meanwhile we can have this moment every night until then.”

"We can?" a light in his eyes lit up with the idea, “I guess every day could be rainy by then. I would love to have this treatment.”

"Of course, your health will deteriorate if you get wet every day for three months, sir."

“If you take care of me like this every day, I don't care,” he whispered in your ear after you'd settled down to finally choose the movie.

And with a slight chuckle as you felt Younghoon rest his chin on the top of your head, that's when you felt that since the age of eighteen, both of you had made the right choice.
