ARSENE LUPIN P5 AU?????? FUCK YEAH!!!!!

(Holy shit I love this idea, I am in love a trillion times with it. Also basic gist of it pls (like is it based off of the novels in terms of story or is it p5 but old)?)

I’M GLAD YOU’RE EXCITED BECAUSE I AM TOO

I’m also very nervous because I’ve never made an au before and I’m kinda putting a weird spin on it. I am basing it mainly on the novels; time period, style, etc. But the novels only really concern Arsene and Ganimard. In order to add more characters, I looked to media similar to the stories and low and behold I found the Lupin III series (which I then binged and now adore but that’s besides the point).

The au follows Phantom Thief Ren Lupin, of course, with Detective Goro Akechi (I didn’t feel a reason to change Akechi’s name because he’s already named after a famous detective) hot on his tail. It takes place roughly in the late 1800s to early 1900s so I’m gonna throw an old fashioned twist on the p5 villains, which will be the people Ren’s stealing from. However, Ren will be the one carrying out the actual heists while his support… supports him in doing so, preventing the law from reaching him and all that.

Concerning his support: this was based HEAVILY on Lupin III’s gang. If you are unfamiliar with that franchise, a quick Google search should give you the gist of the group.

Ren obviously takes place of Lupin.

Ryuji takes the place of Jigen. I chose Ryuji because Jigen is Lupin’s right hand man—always there for support and to help get him outta trouble if he becomes overwhelmed. Bros lookin out for bros!

Yusuke takes the place of Goemon. In the show, Goemon represents the traditional Japanese thief—the same role that Yusuke plays in p5, relatively speaking. He’s the level-headed one with accidental humor, and if that isn’t Yusuke idk who is.

Then comes the idea of the fem fatale. I didn’t want this to be an all boys au because women are badass, duh. So I HAD to include my girl Ann in there somewhere, and I think she takes the place of Fujiko, in a way. She definitely won’t be used for sex appeal tho because women deserve respect and that’s a very “male gaze” idea so she’s there to be her girlboss self and show the boys how it’s done.

I’d like to include the rest of the Phantom Thieves down the line as other additions to Ren’s support group, but I’m gonna flesh out what I’ve got so far before I get too in over my head.

My favorite Arsene Lupin story is The Red Silk Scarf so I’m gonna play around with maybe doing a messy comic as a sort of intro to the greater story.

I am extremely excited to work on this but I do have a full-time job over the summer so most posting will probably happen on the weekends.

do you have a list of favourite anime/manga?

I've been pondering over this ask for days. I wasn't sure about the criteria at the hour to pick my choices. At the end I decided for the ones that never tire me, the ones I can read all over again without noticing. So this is my totally biased list of favorite manga titles.

Slam Dunk

This manga follows the story of teenage delinquent and total loser Hanamichi Sakuragi, who in order to impress the beautiful basket fanatic Haruko Akagi, decides to become an athlete and join their school's basketball team, Shohoku. From there the story follows the team and their dream to finally make it as regional champions. All the characters are amazing, the games gripping, the story engaging. Also I cried like five times.

It's practically vox populi that I'm a hoe for sport stories. And Slam Dunk is hands down the very best there is. All those other sport mangas that are older or newer or even more popular? They don't get even close. Slam Dunk is just that good. The character development, the intensity of the games, the accuracy at the hour of despicting the sport. It really feels like real life basketball, not some superpowered shounen like copy. You can feel Inoue's passion and love for the sport practically emerge from the pages.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Do I even need to give a summary for this one? Practically everybody has see the anime adaptation.

I know, I know, it's a classic. BUT YOUR LIFE WILL ONLY BE COMPLETE ONCE YOU READ THE MANGA. Brotherhood is an amazing adaptation, but it cut so many details and moments. And in an story where everything comes together as neatly as in Fma, those missing details are glaring in the final outcome. At least every fan should read the Ishbal Genocide volumes.

Yu Yu Hakusho

AKA THE ULTIMATE SHOUNEN. Sorry DB.

Yes I'm also weak for shounens stop judging me. This manga follows 14 year old teenage delinquent Yusuke Urameshi, who surprises not only his classmates, teachers and neighbours by dying jumping in front of a car to save a little boy, but also the gods themselves. A little boy who according to the celestial records wasn't even supposed to die. Yusukes death tho is only the beginning to an amazing journey.

Of all the mangas I'm recommending this is the only one that has an accurate anime adaptation. I adore the anime to pieces, but I always return to the manga.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles

Of course I had to pick something of CLAMP and after some deliberation TRC won. It's like the biggest crossover but not really mess those four crazy women had ever created and it's wonderful. To fully understand what's happening you should read tsubasa with it's twin brother, XXX Holic. Both series have to be read in order to comprehend the whole story.

DON'T WATCH THE ANIME ITS THE WORST THING EVER.

TRC follows the story of four travellers - and Mokona!-who are, all for different reasons, on a quest to recover all the feathers of Princess Sakuras memories that scattered all over the universe. But this is CLAMP we are talking about. Their only pure story is CCS. The blood and tears and suffering and amazing plot twists are a garantee.

As a color note: I cried just by SEEING the first two panels of the chapter 1. I lost count of all the times I sobbed bc of this manga.

Shingeki no Kyojin

Well if you are following me you know this story currently owns my soul. Even if you like the anime a lot I recommed reading the manga since the beginning bc the anime team changed and ommited a lot of scenes and interactions. Honestly if it wasn't for the amazing voice acting and soundtrack I wouldnt bother with the anime at all the manga is richer. But yeah read this beauty.

Shaman King

Another shounen. And my emotional comfort manga. It's just so refreshing and sweet and honestly all the characters are sweethearts and incredibly written. Also the story like incorporates so many different types of religious and supernatural facets without being convulted or disrespectful.

If you only watched the anime drop everything and experience first hand how they butchered it.

Fruits Basket

I've only known this baby for less than a month and already made it into my all time fav mangas. It's probably one of the best mangas I have read in YEARS. AND IT'S SO OLD. WHERE WERE YOU 13 YEARS AGO FURUBA I COULD HAVE USED SOME OF YOUR WONDERFUL LESSONS.

Anyway yeah this shit is amazing and Yuki Sohma deserves the world. That's all I have to say about it bc the reboot is airing. Also don't watch the old anime version it's cringey and sucks.

There you have it anon. These are my all time fav mangas ever. I could have added a lot more titles but nah, this is enough. All these mangas ar5w not only excelent but also very dear to my heart. I can only speak from my experience, but I can assure you there's no way someone can have a bad time reading any of these.

wen qing: okay this one is kinda sad but i dont think why she becomes a doctor ever gets addressed and i like to think its because she was trying to cure her brother and maybe she had a different dream when she was young but chose to give it up so she could study ;_;

hiei: feels like an common one but i love him not knowing anything useful about the human world but refusing to admit it. kurama gets him a credit card so he stops stealing food from his house and hiei has no clue what that means and runs up a huge bill buying expensive snacks and cool looking antique shit

General Opinion over said character:

wen qing: my general opinion is that I LOVE HER and she deserved better!!! shes the best doctor in qishan and she just wants to help people and take care of her clan and her brother!!! as much as i love our main boys shes sincerely probably my favorite character i just really love her. she puts on a front about only helping people out as a repayment for kindness but its clearly a defense thing to protect herself and wen ning bc she never stops helping people even at at risk to herself like the first thing we see her do at cloud recesses is save the gate guard from wen chao like !!!! i just adore her shes kind and shes funny and ready to tease her loved ones and protect those who need protecting but no one protected her in the end im sorry i made this sad :’((((

hiei: an all time favorite. my first anime crush unfortunately. a big dumb dummy head. when i watched the dub on toonami when i was 8 i wanted yukina to Know so bad that i used to dream about it

tough one. Earthbound or Chrono Trigger. Close seconds are FFIX, Xenoblade Chronicles and Okami.

2) First console you owned?

hahaha im a super youngin so i had a gameboy from what i can remember. then a gamecube! those two were my first.

3) a game that holds a special place in your heart?

Earthbound and Chrono Trigger. yes BOTH. i played both during very bad depression. I would finish the game, give a lil cry and restart it often times that same day. this continued for years. I kind of only played those two games. oddly enough i STILL can’t remember shit about certain parts (Where DOES one go after Tyran again????? How on earth do you navigate Deep Darkness? You’re supposed to do what WHAT with that robot?? Mother Brain WHOOOO??? Which one of Lavos’s spawns do you kill again????????????)

4) Favorite video game character?

toss up between: Noctis Lucis Caelum XCIV from FFXV, Yusuke Kitagawa from Persona 5, Yuna from FFX, Link from LOZ, Bartholomew Fatima from Xenogears or Connor from Detroit Become Connor Is Best Boy. I can’t choose, just choose for me!

5) Least Favorite video game character?

Chie from Persona 4 (DONT @ME!!!!!), the knight guy from FFIX, everyone from Until Dawn. There’s probably more but thats all i can think of atm.

6) Favorite Genre?

RPGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! my first one was....i think one of the earlier FFs. Either 3 or 4? Anyways for a long time i couldn’t play it bc the random battles really scared me! like, the idea that i could be walking and get into battle just really frightened me....tho open world games come in second and rhythm games in third!

7) Video Game character you’ve had a crush on?

this is a loaded fucking question. Uh. if the character is a moody swordsperson or archer of any type or thief i have had a crush on them. my biggest crush is probably Link...The fact that he is essentially a blank slate makes giving him any characteristics i wants very easy. I am quite partial to Aro/Ace Link who likes to explore his sexuality. But is still very Aro/Ace (ye this is me just projecting FIGHT ME!)

Dragonsthe first character i ever fell in love with:Ruffnut!! When the second movie came out, I saw all those gifs of her ogling Eret and I was sold :’Da character that i used to love/like, but now do not:potential spoilers, but what they revealed about Trader Johan in this new RTTE season makes him more unappealing to me when he was a fun character before,a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not:Used to be more into Ruffret than I am? I still prefer it to lots of other Ruff ships tho…my ultimate favorite character™:RUFFNUT FOR SURE My wonderful daughter, the best girl, who is allowed to be “ugly” and ridiculous and even gross,prettiest character:Still Heather, probably,also a lot of the dragons just have really cool designsmy most hated character:Viggo, and now Krogan, too. I am not a fan of villains, usually, they tend to have personalities that I find unappealing. He’s just got such a big heart, and he’s so…genuinely good, and yet ridiculous and a bit rough, maybe a little dumb and a little “ugly”, but he never gives up and will do anything for people (and animals) he loves and Idk he’s just such a pure soul who proves you can achieve anything if you tryprettiest character:Botan and Shizuru!!Yomi, too. And both Kuramas, bc why would you be one pretty anime boy stereotype when you could be two pretty anime boy stereotypes.my most hated character:Toguro brothers, maybe? They made me so angry all the time.The older one was at least ridiculous but imo the younger was an ass for no reason

my OTP:I have so many feelings about Kuwameshi…they just…care about each other so much…my NOTP:Nothing really stands out but this one time I saw a fic that was Yusuke/Hiei/Kurama and completely left out Kuwabara and I felt personally insulted…also I really don’t think Toguro has ever deserved Genkai everfavorite episode:There are so many wonderful episodes bc I just really love this cast of characters BUT one that stands out is episode three, y’know, the one where Kuwabara has to keep from fighting and also study to bring his test score way up just so his friend can keep the job he needs and even tho ppl beat on Kuwabara he refuses to fight back or mess this up in any way and okay listen I’m crying againsaddest death:The second time Yusuke died really got to me, what with Kuwabara crying and begging him not to while remembering their first meetings and all,also when Kuwabara “died” and Yusuke was so devastated he released more power than he even knew he hadthe fact that both of these involve both of them feeling incredibly useless for not being able to save the other makes for added sadnessoh manfavorite season:There isn’t one that really stands out, I really enjoyed the series as a whole! Wasn’t bored once.least favorite season:My heart wants to say season four bc of the (relative) lack of Kuwabara, but even the way that was handled made sure he still had plenty of presence, and it didn’t feel like he was being tossed aside at all. Plus, we got really good Hiei, Kurama, and Yusuke content, not to mention the return of the best minor characters from the Dark Tournament, So ye, in the end I love season four just as much as the others, hahacharacter that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate:this doesn’t count at all but I didn’t understand why everyone apparently loved Kurama so much until I met himmy ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave:Shishiwakamaru or Suzuki maybe? If they even count anymore, they seem pretty harmless when all is said and done..Hiei…? lolBui maybe?? He was my favorite on Toguro’s team, at least,my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave:Mitarai…like I mean his canon storyline was actually really good but he definitely fits the first partmy ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship:…Karasu/Bui?my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship:Jin/Touya is really good!!Botan/Shizuru too!!And Hiei/Kurama, of course.
