the fact that Stardew Valley is a $15 indie game that came out almost a decade ago with zero microtransactions and is still receiving free DLC updates to this day is absolutely bonkers. There are $50-60 AAA games with paid DLC that have come out more recently and aren’t nearly as actively supported or updated.

As a medium/lower support needs autistic who works with young higher support needs autistic:

We all matter. We all have the same diagnosis. We all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

But we are not the same.

I can mask and might be seen as 'odd' or 'weird' in public. The students I work with are seen as 'dangerous' and 'practically little kids'.

I can go to university and work with accommodations. The students I work with likely will never live independently and a few might find jobs that support them but still pay them less than an abled worker.

I have full control of my finances. The students I work with aren't allowed to make independent financial decisions, even if capable.

If I say 'no,' I'm making a choice. The students I work with can't say 'no' without being labeled as defiant and difficult.

I can feed myself, bathe myself, and take care of myself with extreme challenges. The students I work with are unable to take care of themselves without high levels of support/one on one support.

I had an IEP in high school but was mainstreamed in classes. The students I work with take separate classes and some rarely get to interact with their abled peers.

Our experiences are fundamentally different. Higher support needs autistics will experience a specific type of ableism I never will, and can never fully understand.

Lower support needs autistics need to stop saying we understand what higher support needs autistics are going through and then present autism as only being disabling because of society/lack of acceptance because that is dangerous. We need to stop saying every autistic person is capable of everything if given the right support because that leaves out huge parts of our community who will never be able to do certain things, regardless of support.

We are worthy of existence regardless of our abilities.

Autism is a spectrum. It is not the same for every autistic person. Autism acceptance and advocacy has to come with accepting, acknowledging, and listening to our higher support needs peers.

I picked up painting after not doing it for 3 years and I thought to paint "The Little Prince" since I love the story and visuals so much.

Then I decided to make a (totally better) digital version so I can add more details since I had very little paints and 2 brushes 😅

I've also made it a print..mainly to send to my mother for a (very late) birthday.

so yes, today i stumbled upon that post with multiple 10 k likes that made a very good point on why astarion is angry when you help others etc. and i was thinking, "what a marvelous post". until i read the last sentences that went like:

"astarion is a dick. accept that or stan someone else. "

i stan astarion because no, he is not a dick. he is a complex (not human) being. he has a developement arc. (ascended astarion is, for sure, a dick). spawn astarion starts to care about people (telling us how life's unfair after karlachs meltdown at gortash's, commenting we should save volo even though he hates bards etc.pp). it's actually up to the player which path he walks; we can show him a direction and he happily takes it. from the beginning, he had a potential to become a better person. he might have been a dick in the beginning, but he doesn't need to stick with that. unlike many people irl, he takes the opportunity for change.

spawn astarion starts to learn compassion and empathy, which can surely be developed if he's with the right people. he's actually one of the happiest next to halsin in the epilogue (my opinion).

Ofc he will never be a goodie in two shoes, he's most likely considered chaotic neutral by the end of the game when not ascended, but this still means: he is a multifaceted character and cannot be categorized into "this or that".

so no, i will not accept that "astarion is a dick" and i will not stan someone else. ;_; (what even is this statement)

This is something that I very much agree with! As an AroAce person myself, it really does suck that when we FINALLY get proper media representation, people just throw it out the window.

I'm not gonna tell people who to ship or not to ship. But if you're paying attention you'll notice that I'm not the only aspec individual around here who's uncomfortable/annoyed/angry seeing Alastor's sexual and romantic orientations being thrown out or outright ignored.

Alastor is confirmed in canon to be aromantic and asexual. In a recent livestream, Vivzie herself even acknowledged how important it is to have a character not just be aro/ace coded but outright canonized. And in a show that is RIFE with sexual themes, behavior, etc etc, it's such a relief to have one character whose entire stance on the subject is "LMAO no."

So, allosexuals and romantics, if you insist on shipping Alastor in any capacity beyond platonic, please for the love of GOD just show some fucking respect, alright? It's literally the least you can do. Don't just throw away or ignore the aroace part of him because you don't know how to work with that (Ask!!! aroace!! people!!! Do some research!!!!!!). Don't treat romantic feelings or intimacy with him like some prize to be won. And I swear to all that is fucking holy in this world: NONE OF THAT "I can fix him!" or "(X) can fix him!" BULLSHIT or I will personally haunt you and your family when I die.

So yeah. Have fun or whatever. And remember that your ship will never be canon.
