Adding some more B-may art for completeness. Lineless art of her lookin’ cute, middle sketch foreshortened, noticing a camera - *insert-MGS-alert-sound here* - and final piece in battle, about to fire off a "radiant sun bolt” This blog doesn’t see much use these days, as most of the pony art I follow is also posted on other more easily navigated platforms. Will keep it around to look back on, for now - perhaps it will find a use in the future...?

Say hello to “Braided Chord”, B-major/B-may for short. They’re the ponyfinder/D&D version of my OC Tinker Tie. They’re a monk, so not wearing armor or using weapons is actually a bonus - she’s super fast and her double-buck is da best~

Not the smartest pony around though, so has to practice her balance to stay focused on any book-learnin’.

Their “mark of destiny” has the symbol of her sun god in the middle. Not sure which version I like better of the braided ring, connected or not connected...

Such adorable coloring, pose, and fluff! :D I wanna draw my own OC in this simple style...

Right of the back of @faline-art‘s recent Tempest Shadow, we have an autumn Apple that they did a few weeks back! Things are getting a bit more chilly here in Utah, and I find myself wishing I had a few more layers of warm clothes between me and the winter air when during the rare times I’m outside. I have to admit, seeing a happy Apul like this one warms me up a bit inside. Has to be one of my favorites from their gallery. Again, give them a follow if you haven’t already!

This one was a bit spontaneous. I had it in my ‘to color’ folder for a little while now. It was only when Amarynceus invited me to a multi stream that I had to find something to color on the quick. I don’t like to miss any chance to stream with the greats, after all.

Tempted to do an audio post with my attempts at reading some of these names, so glad someone did & shared this~

New My Little Ponies, designed by neural network

The Kingdom of Equestria is inhabited by thousands of colorful, magical ponies, whose life cycle, socioeconomics, and biomechanics are best not investigated too closely. Their names are usually something like “Rainbow Dash” or “Diamond Tiara” or (my favorite because she’s totally a grad student pony): ‘Twilight Sparkle”.

Often the plot calls for crowd scenes (usually involving ponies in great peril), and I worry that some day the creators of My Little Pony will run out of names. In the spirit of being helpful, I decided to put a computer to the task of generating lots of new ponies.

I used a program called a character-level recurrent neural network (char-rnn), which looks at examples of text (Pokemon, or Harry Potter fan fiction, or even guinea pig names) and learns to imitate them. I gave the neural network more than 1,500 names from My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Wiki, and let it start learning.

Result: partial success.

It did come up with some pretty plausible-sounding ponies, certainly not as weird as some of the ponies that have already appeared on the show (such as Groucho Mark and Button Mash and Buzzard Hooffield).

The neural network also came up with some seriously tough-sounding ponies, ones that you would definitely want on your side when fighting giant killer cupcakes, or whatever the peril is this week.

But the neural network’s results weren’t all successful. It also came up with some ponies that probably wouldn’t be on the A-team.
