Holy crap, with the avatar netflix show we're back again with the old debate between "azula is satan" team vs "azula is a traumatised child" team. I'm so tired of people posting screenshot of Azula smiling during the agni kai as a proof of her being "unfixable". Zuko had his mother and Iroh. All Azula had is Ozai and we all know how children can be easily manipulated (brainwashing, mimicry...) That doesn't mean her redemption is impossible. It's just gonna be way harder. But then again, she is 14.
And we all know if Zuko was in Azula's role/place, he'll still be the favorite character of the fandom.
Ok while we are all waiting for patch 6 I decided to tell you what I think about shadowzel.
While I noticed a lot of people love the "toxic yuri" "ennemies to lovers" trope, I'm not feeling any of those two vibes with shadowzel.
Indeed, they are not really ennemies, the animosity of their relationship is linked with their goddess/queen orders.
Shar and Vlaakith both want the artefact while Lae'zel and Shadowheart do not even understand what it is. Their little night fight is the result of fear and misunderstanding.
In fact, in Shadowheart origin story you can even avoid the fight and talk with Lae'zel about the artefact.
Moreover, Shadowheart notices how horrible Vlaakith is, how easily someone as strong as Lae'zel can be manipulated by her. While Lae'zel clearly understands how mischievous and deceitful Shar is and sees Shadowheart being tormented by this darkness. They cannot comprehend their own brainwashing but they do realize each other's situations. Thus, they can help each other and together they are finally complete.
I don't know how to explain but Minthara reminds me a lot of Philippa. There is the same "I don't have the time for you" vibe in their way of talking. Although I do believe they are really different in their way of thinking (I am Philippa's official lawyer but, even I cannot defend Minthara ; I still love her tho).
What do you mean power hungry mommies are my type ? Stop that.
I know I'm late and the meme with 2 characters from a different universe meeting each other is already weeks old but ! I'm thinking about them. I would pay a lot to see them talking together.
Although now that I think about it, I would've loved if Githyanki had a special way of expressing love physically instead of kissing on the lips. Imagine trying to kiss Lae'zel and she just bites your shoulder or sniffs your neck.
I'm all for awkward miscommunication with Githyanki situations.
