8-years-old Danielle likes wearing make-up, especially eyeliner and lipstick, but she only wears it for events because she doesn't want to be perceived to be a "child playing with make-up."

This demonstrates her sensitivity over how people perceive her. She doesn't want to be perceived as "just a child" because of the struggles she goes through and how she fears depending on anyone.

Also, this is a reference to her canon design, where she had lipstick, eyeliner(?), strangely curvy hips, and a crop top as a twelve-years-old. I can tell that I'm not the only one who finds the canon character design weird.

Headcanon

Danielle starts speaking less often after the episode "D-stabilized," as the experience of being tricked and betrayed for the second time, by someone who is working for Vlad no less, caused her to become more private and elusive in an effort to better protect herself.

Also, Danielle was alone throughout all of this. The trio just let her live on the streets while she was actively unstable. Danny definitely would've known she was in danger, but he didn't do anything about it. It was dumb luck that he had the ecto-dejecto serum to save Danielle with.

And I got the feeling that Danielle wanted to let herself melt away so she could be with her clone brothers, but she never got herself to do that.

How Danny actually treated Danielle is actually heartbreaking for himself and the people around him. This is a big example of how Danny is acting more similar to his parents than he might realize, and it already caused harm to a kid who was already suffering from someone else's issues.

Headcanon:

Sam calls Danielle the nickname "Lily" because she loves the first name "Lilith," the same name she used for her and Tucker's fake baby in the episode "Life Lessons."

Here, Danielle's nicknames are Elle, Ellie, Lily, and Lee.

Only Sam calls her "Lily" or "Lee," though.

Fanfic idea:

Gizmo's mom did not find out she was pregnant until she was in labor, and shortly after the birth, she died of childbirth complications.

This really shook Gizmo's dad. He became rather reserved and reclusive. He is rather cold to his son, even though he is very invested in his life.

A fanfic idea:

Danny helped Danielle leave Vlad days before the events of Kindred Spirit could happen. Danielle was 8 years old when she left Vlad.

A year later, Danielle, now 9 years old, gets stuck in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

One serious issue she has is that she has never been cured of her instability, so she needs to be injected with ecto-dejecto every 4 or so weeks before she destabilizes. She needs to return home for the ecto-dejecto before it is too late.

Danielle meets the gang a few days after arriving in their world. Aang almost immediately senses an unusual aura from her, but he decides to keep it to himself since it wasn't his business, so far.
