This isn’t legal advice and this isn’t my area of expertise, but it is what I would do. I don’t know if you’re in the US or not. If you are, I would connect with a legal aid organization in your area that has an economic rights/consumer justice unit and/or bankruptcy clinic that might be best able to advise you. You can also contact your county’s bar association who might be able to give you referrals, but I always suggest legal aid orgs since they’re free.

You also mentioned that you’re unable to work. If you’re in the U.S., you might want to consider applying for social security benefits, and that money generally can’t be garnished even though wages can, unless they actually win in court. But even if they did, there’s a cap on how much they can garnish and there are garnishment hardships, so social security can modify the amount they garnish.

If creditors call you though, don’t say shit. Good luck anon, I hope any of this helped and in my experience, these situations are terrifying but can be managed.
