The last three weeks...
So many lectures - we're in deep now. At least some timetable changes have condensed it to a three-day week now, so yay!
Played laser tag for the first time in years with the societies, which was fun and nostalgic. Definitely bringing my friends for a game before they all turn 20(!)
The name of the game recently though has been feedback: hopefully as a lowly course rep I can resolve the existential problems of all the psychology courses - we need a serious rethink.
On the bright side, we had pancake day and valentine's day right next to each other - commemorated by pancakes (duh), seeing Madame Web in cinemas (don't get me started 🤮) and watching the same old Jacksfilms parodies.
How could I forget last valentine's day: I had a date with the careers team (to present to students), and boy that year has flown by because the time has come round again! I've done this presentation like six times now and only now have the public speaking nerves started to settle. I never get tired of hearing the same gags from my colleague who speaks after me, and the best thing is I got to hear them twice because he asked me to a second talk later on, which I took up spontaneously!
Reading week next week - halfway there, certainly living on a prayer ;)

Week two
Had my fingers pricked in the name of research last Monday; some health students were investigating glucose levels, and apparently mine were fine so that's good to know.
Hosting the stand for PsychSoc at the welcome fair made me realise we need a tablecloth or at least something to look like a society and not just some random students lol, but our laptops held out.
Tuesday was full of inspiring meetings that have me looking forward to the future once again; namely a student psychology journal and a guest speaker event on climate change.
I'm doing much better with the mastertracker this semester, and with the hours I'm finding to just do it I shouldn't lose track again 🤞🏻
Recent highlights from 100dodw #11-#14:
Research participation
Societies fair
Ambassadors shifts
Student journal meeting
BPS branch meeting
Society taster sessions

First week back (proper)!
Plenty of early mornings, driving chaos and welcome events to resume normal programming. All the lectures were as you'd expect: here's the module, here's the assignment...
Two society taster sessions, both game nights were I had to make up the rules of Pictionary and pretend I knew what I was doing.
The cinema was showing Anchorman for its 20th anniversary so you know I had to go - forgot how iconic Ron Burgundy is. Also didn't enjoy Mean Girls, I can imagine it works better as a stage musical but not on film imo.
Got to do my first campus tours for the open day (finally) - it was a relatively small one (for freezing cold January ig) so not many to do but hopefully more down the line.
Recently I've been trying this hip new thing called ✨work-life balance✨ where I draw a hard line between uni and home. And what do you know, it's working 🙃
Recent highlights from 100dodw #5-#10:

Week zero
HNY peeps! I'm currently in the middle of my first full 9-to-5 week on reception desks, and despite it being very quiet in the week before enrolment, I can't deny it's been a toughie. But I'm glad I picked up some shifts to get me back in the swing of things before the new semester starts.
As for that screenshot of my calendar for next week, it's certainly ambitious... I've begun to realise that that's what calendars should look like though, and what isn't pictured is the equal amount of fun time I've allocated ~yay~
To compensate for my inability to sleep recently, I've been going to the cinema a lot more - I'm determined to see every movie I'm interested in this year, as it's just down the road and memberships are well worth it if you go enough imo :)
I thought I'd start afresh with my dodw (days of deep work), and I'm looking to beat the 45 days I did from the second half of last year. Here are some recent highlights:
Created quarterly goal-setting tracker
Refreshed the mastertracker for the new semester
Reviewed assignment feedback
Employability upkeep (CV, LinkedIn)
So, the question remains. Will 2024 be the year? 💫

Getting paid to put up a Christmas tree: maybe life isn't that bad after all...
Assignments are done, lecture theatres are nearly empty, and the grades have started to trickle in.
I was reminded of why I stopped using the library computers on Thursday when trying to finish my essay - people are very open with their use of AI writing tools these days.
So I unofficially broke up on the 1st of December, as in face-to-face teaching is done. I still have a couple of quizzes to do, but after that it's Christmas!

Love it when I can relate to my camera's shutter speed
My sixth form has a Christmas reunion next month... looks like we're getting the gang back together! I still feel like I'm on holiday away from A-levels here at uni, was waiting for an excuse to go back lol
As the deadlines tighten their grip I was pleased to find I could just do my assignment on a 'quiet shift' of ambassador duty... not bad. But then the next shift was open day, which was not so quiet.
I escaped to Bristol over the weekend for a gig, blissfully ignoring my academic responsibilities (it's the last week, so what?) - so my first solo road trip was a success!

Saying goodbye to buses (for the most part)
My first shift as a student ambassador involved lots of standing, helping people with the same ID problems, and watching graduates walk around in their gowns and mortar boards (not long till that's me).
After getting my car on Tuesday, familiarising myself with the student car parks was fun. The first I dubbed 'Pothole Heaven', but the other is nicely paved, at the sacrifice of getting their earlier if you want a space. The new norm sets in.
That blasted research report is finally over and done with; it wasn't too bad, just not inviting at all to do since the start of the semester. Now onto the 'fun' assignments lol.
As a rebound from that, I treated myself to hanging out with my friends over the weekend: meeting a new kitten and playing games.
It looks like I might be taking on yet another voluntary position soon... I'm such a yes-man I can't help it 😫 Spinning those plates lol

I was stunned by the colours on campus this week - I forgot how the season makes everything so vibrant!
An online careers conference overshadowed the week, and I put my journalist hat on to report the forensic side of it for a magazine.
On top of that, most of my lectures were also about careers - I feel I'm spending too much time thinking in the future rather than enjoying the process of my degree... y'know?

Autumn is thriving over here 🍂🍁🐿️
The pigeons in the cathedral square are way too friendly, they literally swarmed me last week and I felt like I was Snow White 😅
So, here we are in November... what?! Last week's Halloween activities were fun: I got to dress up as a French detective for two days and host murder mysteries with the societies 🕵️
For once I actually followed the tasks I set out for myself, and 9-5 is slowly becoming a reality for uni... Thanks to deep work ofc :)
One of my essays appeared out of thin air over the weekend, so that's one of four submitted at least.
Got to drive my dream car on Sunday... here's hoping I can get it 🙃

What an unorthodox week 🤨
It turns out a miscommunication led to me becoming a course rep for a completely different course (mfw Forensic Psychology is grouped with Forensic Investigations instead of... y'know... *Psychology*?!?). Oh well, despite taking on completely irrelevant feedback from students I don't even know, it's all resolved now.
On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of chaperoning some trainee FPs who came in to deliver a talk (more useful to me in hindsight since I wanna do the same thing), then I nobly sacrificed oh-so-important safeguarding training to network with them over lunch... Who needs safeguarding anyway /j (I assure you it was optional).
Then the rest of the week was pretty chill: I caught the FNAF movie on opening night to avoid spoilers at all costs, and was not disappointed 🐻🎩; chipped away at assignments; and may or may not have passed my driving test!!! (finally) 🎉

The peace and quiet of development week...
Plenty of time for catching up on sleep and binging YouTube videos, but also a checkpoint: halfway through the semester (???).
I finally got "started" on my assignments - mainly because there are two formatives due, and if you haven't started by now, you really should 🙃
I only had to get to campus twice this week - once for an engineering challenges social (spaghetti marshmallow towers and the like), and again for a PsychSoc study session that just devolved into talking about career aspirations - was it worth travelling through Storm Babet for? Maybe.

This was probably the busiest I'll get this semester, so I'm glad that's over!
I missed my 9am on Monday because I overslept (freshers' flu hit hard over the weekend), so a precious two hours on critical analysis was lost.
A flurry of technical errors this week: I sacrificed my laptop for a session in order for one of my lecturers to successfully mirror his presentation and teach; I was invited back to give my spiel to students on psychology career planning, but the projector decided to quit five minutes in... -_-
On the bright side, I ran a stand all day on Wednesday at my uni's careers fair, which was a great time. The Psych Society also gave out green ribbons for World Mental Health Day, which was a good opportunity to let people know it's back.
I'm noticing that when I let work build up or put things off, it strongly weighs on my mind - I had a much-needed planning session when I was on campus on Friday for some society development workshops, which should set me up nicely for next week (development week)! :D

*Ahem*
This week I discovered an unused classroom in an abandoned section of the old life science building, which was a great escape for a few days. It's really difficult for me to find a quiet space on campus to both work and eat without being bothered, so this was gold dust.
Whilst I did get busted at one point by some staff wanting to check out the room they'd been assigned to teach in next semester, it was okay (they said they'd keep my secret lol). But I probably won't risk going back again - it was fun while it lasted.
Socials included Kahoot quizzing and rock painting, which were very fun ^_^ It was a bit of a shame that everyone seemed to have some form of freshers' flu (me included) but we move o7

I have caught freshers' flu for the first time so this post has been delayed... anyway...
A mixed bag this week: a productive Monday; exhausting Tuesday (first society meeting of the year); my French course got cancelled because not enough people registered :'(
A potential internship popped up on my careers service, so I made some enquiries about that. I plastered the walls of my uni with BPS posters which was fun.
I may or may not have escaped to Manchester for a gig on Friday... That's week six behaviour, surely... And I totally didn't see Saw X at the cinema on the weekend either ;)

I was right when I said the addition of seminars to my timetable this week would make it a lot more hectic, but I'm determined not to slip with my upkeep this semester 🤞🏻
The week kicked off with an online lecture for my optional 'skill-building' module, but it's essentially an English Language module 🙃
I gave a short presentation about my volunteering experience at a virtual information session for students, which went quite well :)
Tuesday is by far my busiest day (9am-4pm with an hour for lunch) but there was a mishap with the timetable where it showed a duplicate seminar session, so at least that's one less hour...
Got the haircut I've always wanted on Wednesday; I wanted it done before the year started but better late than never!
Apart from the bus randomly leaving us stranded at the hospital rather than going into town on one occasion, opportunities have been quite abundant for me this week: I got a stand for my psychology ambassadors at our careers fair in October, and was invited to write for the BPS magazine 😳
So, pretty exciting times ahead! 100dodw has been quite bitty this week, so there's no full sessions to share, but this should change soon!
Cya next week 💫

I'm back, and so are the weekly posts! As expected, the first week of any semester is for freshers events and introductory lectures, which were all great :)
The mastertracker has made its return, this time in Excel form (yes I caved... PowerPoint my beloved) but I should hopefully stay organised this way 🤞🏻
I've realised that I don't need to be on campus on Mondays or Fridays this semester... As tempting as long weekends are - hold me to treating uni like a 9-5!!
The buses have been somewhat okay ig, and getting a laptop was the right move - I worked for four hours in the library on Thursday without interruption!
I ventured to areas of campus I've never been before; recapped a lot of first year material (I surprisingly followed the research methods lecture... turns out I did learn stuff last year); and planned for the year ahead with all the groups and teams I'm going to be involved with.
I finished reading Picking Up the Pieces by Paul Britton (legendary forensic psychologist) and I feel like I've come full circle since reading his other book at just 12 years old. It further solidified that I'm on the right path :')
