Hello! I dunno if your requests are open but can I get Bubba, Jason, Freddy and Micheal with a soft, short, female S/O who carrys around a small teddy bear everywhere? Thank you!
Sure thing, hun! Hope you like it! 💖
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bubba
Bubba finds you to be the cutest thing he’s ever seen! So small, so kind and so adorable! Just like a real life doll!
He squeals in delight whenever he sees you carry around your teddy bear. He even tries to make it a friend out of cloth and other materials laying around the house or farm.
He keeps an eye out for your teddy bear for you and gets worried that it might get dirtied up, he ends up cleaning it if that ever happens.
Bubba makes sure his brothers don't mess with you or your fuzzy friend. <3
Tumblr media
Jason
Jason thinks it's real sweet that you still hold on to your old stuffed toys. He might have some laying about the cabin as well.
Pamela couldn't let go of any of his old belongings. So there might be some of Jason's kids toys still intact.
He might let you touch or play with them...Only if you're really careful, they hold a lot of sentimental value to him.
Overall thinks you're a real sweetheart, he loves that you're still in touch with your inner child and find joy in the little things in life.
Also finds your height difference cute, he loves picking you up bridal style around the cabin.
Tumblr media
Freddy
Freddy here likes to tease and make fun of how "childish" you are for carrying around a teddy bear.
Would probably take it from your hands and try to get you to get it back by chasing him around. Now who's being childish....and kind've a jerk
You don't know why he's so bent on annoying you with your teddy bear. You're starting to suspect that he's jealous of it.
He's not! How idiotic would that be! ...ok maybe just a lil'
Freddy also likes to tease you about your height.
He gives you nicknames like: Shorty, Shortstack, Doll, Mouse, Tiny, Cupcake, and many many more small related things. Each day he comes up with a new one.
Tumblr media
Michael
Michael likes your small stature, he loves throwing you over his shoulder with such ease. He enjoys having such power over you.
He finds your soft and caring personality to be...comforting? In his own mysterious way.
Michael has seen you carry around your teddy bear wherever you go. He doesn't think he's ever seen you without it. He's a bit curious as to why.
Doesn't understand the infatuation you might have with it. It's just a dumb stuffed toy, he thinks to himself. He might get the urge to stab into it and rip it into pieces, but ops to hide it from your view.
He's definitely jealous of it. Why not give him all the attention you're giving to your teddy bear?
After searching the entire house, and panicking trying to find your teddy bear, he ends up just leaving it at your bed without you noticing.
That night he goes out and doesn't come back 'till later in the afternoon of the next day.
When you finally notice him in your house, he's holding a bloodied up stuffed rabbit, and hands it to you. Maybe it's his way of saying sorry, for making you worry so much over your teddy.

What you mean by" willis todds love for jason is the reason bruce failed him" ?
Sorry ive seen your post and I agree with everything but this just kinda suprise me, not hating, just curiuos
HELLO! so this is a take that is based on pre-new 52 todds, before they were simplified to the one dimensional (and classist) personalities they're known for now. neither of them were shown to be abusive or willfully negligent, but rather found themselves in bad situations out of their control and died, leaving jason to fend for himself.
in the most simplest way what i mean is willis todds self sacrificing actions of turning to crime in order to provide for jason and catherine is the key defining part of jasons life and why he views bruce's love for him as 'not enough'.
(of course, the actual proof of this is like. one single panel and its not even said by jason. however i think it is something that can be found in jasons character through other, less obvious situations.)
in jasons initial (public) return to gotham and that long and convoluted plan to mess around with batman psychology to get the two of them and the joker in the same place, it all seems like a well planned out revenge story until the final conversation:
Tumblr media
Batman: Under the Red Hood
it always stood out to me, not just because of how absolutely heart wrenching the entire moment is (definitely read utrh if you haven't, at least once), but because it really gives you an insight into what love and loving someone means to jason.
to him it's an all encompassing responsibility. this idea that love is something that you need to be able to prove by the quantitive value of what you'll sacrifice for it. in this case, jason is saying i love you" in the way he truly believes gets across how much he means it; i would kill the person who hurt you.
whenever i read this part of utrh, another situation immediately pops into my mind. and that's when jason found out two-face had killed willis todd.
Tumblr media
Batman #411
upon finding out two-face had killed willis, jason goes on a brief grief filled rampage, swearing he'll kill him for what he did. it's important to note that up until now, jason had assumed willis was still in prison, only to find out he was actually murdered.
again, it's this idea that love is the extremes you'll go to for family. jason was well aware of willis' less than legal means to make money, and even bruce makes a mention of it in.
Tumblr media
Batman: A death in the family
i imagine, like a lot of what fuels jason to fight crime now, guilt is a major deciding factor in a lot of his choices. it's this guilt that he feels upon hearing about willis' death that makes him take it out on two-face. it's even guilt that plays a huge factor even in new 52 stories (such as Cheer).
so when he returns to gotham, or even before that, just hearing about what bruce had done following his death (locking the joker up instead of killing him, taking in tim as his robin) were, to him, clear evidence that he did not love jason in any way that mattered. that bruce did not love jason as much as jason loved him.
because loving him means giving up your morals. loving him means sacrificing your health and your time and your safety.
but bruce didn't do any of that in a way jason could see.
i imagine to someone like jason, who lost every parental figure in some capacity, whether it be to illness or crime or something else entirely, the evident disregard for him was as painful as any rejection could have been.
a lot of how jason feels and acts can be seen in much more interesting ways if we all look at him for he is; an unreliable narrator. he is missing huge chunks of story, especially when it comes to bruce, and has no choice but to act irrationally on the little truth he does know.
of course we the readers, and some other characters, know just how hard jasons death was for bruce. how destructively he mourned for his son.
but again, the surface level proof of it is not enough for jason, who's entire life has been love through sacrifice. but now, it's a sacrifice bruce can not ever give him.

HII could you do Slashers with an overly flirtatious and touchy reader, like she would find any opportunity to flirt with them, ty !
Hiya, thanks for requesting!
Jason Voorhees
To be brutally honest, Jason would not be comfortable with a tactile person whose touches carry sexual undertones. Perhaps if such things only began occur later in the relationship, he might get used to it in small quantities.
It would take some time for him to be okay with innocent touching in a relationship, so flirty touching would be an absolute no-no.
Let’s face it – Jason might not be the perfect match for someone who is overly flirty in general and likes to flirt by touching.
Bubba Sawyer
Bubba is quite a tactile person himself and loves that you are, too! He enjoys expressing his affection towards other people by touching them. His brothers (and people in general) do not always appreciate it, though.
Bubba grew up loved and cared for, but he didn’t receive a lot of physical affection. Living in relative isolation with his brothers has left him severely touch-starved, so he isn’t going to avoid your approaches.
Bubba often takes your tactile behaviour at face value, oblivious to the flirtatious intent behind your actions. He thinks you’re just an affectionate person who behaves in a tactile manner with everyone.
It’s only when your hands travel down to grab his ass or you press your hand against the front of his pants that he realises you might have a goal other than innocent touching.
When Bubba learns that your touches are only directed at him and contain a flirty element, he still thinks it’s perfectly okay that you touch him! Just don’t grab a handful of Bubba in front of Drayton, because he will chase you off Bubba with a broom.
Thomas Hewitt
Thomas wants to put up a prude front when any member of his family is around. Sex is not a taboo subject in the Hewitt household, but Thomas would rather keep up innocent appearances when it comes to his family.
That doesn’t mean that he finds your flirty behaviour at all off-putting or a nuisance. In fact, he enjoys it very much whenever you two are in private and you display your affection and desire by getting handsy with him.
If you’re the quick-witted type and excel at double entendre, Thomas would be okay with some suggestive remarks in social settings, as well. As long as you make sure the suggestive undertones are ambiguous enough to fly under Luda May’s radar.
In sum, if you don’t touch Thomas in an inappropriate manner when any of his family members are around, Thomas doesn’t mind your flirty behaviour, even if it bordered on lewd.
He will encourage you to be as much your dirty, flirty self as possible whenever you two have some alone time.
Brahms Heelshire
Brahms is likely the most touch-starved of the bunch, and he will take whatever physical contact he can get from you. It doesn’t care if it’s a friendly hand on the shoulder, suggestive squeezing of his ass, or a well-deserved slap to his face. He will take whatever you give him, and ask for more.
Because you’re stuck with him (whether you like it or not), Brahms thinks that it’s not necessary for you to flirt with him in order to get him into bed or the like. In your relationship, flirting carries a more humorous intent – a sign that you’re comfortable enough to joke about sexy topics with Brahms.
Whenever you go into flirty mode, Brahms will reciprocate in kind. For him, it’s more a game of which one of you can find more excuses to touch the other, and the more private the area, the better.
Michael Myers
If you go about touching Michael without his consent, he will dump you in a ditch the next morning.

Slashers + Their Merchandise
A/N: Spirit Halloween is finally back.. and of course I needed to go for my costume and obligatory mug. Here’s the slashers and their thoughts on a reader who collects their merchandise.
Slashers Included: Michael Myers (any), Bubba Sawyer, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Ghostface, Chucky
Warnings/Tags: SFW, can be interpreted as romantic or platonic, regular reader and victim reader included
Tumblr media
Michael Myers
If there’s one thing every Myers has in common, it’s ego.
Michael has already made up his mind, he’s going to allow you to live and accept you as his own, so whether or not you’re a fan is of no concern to him…
But it does feel nice. To be recognized, praised, admired even.
He can’t help but feel a fondness towards your little hobby of collecting merch of his, even if it is silly stuff like mugs with his face on them. To him, it only cements your loyalty and reaffirms his belief that he’s a great killer. I mean, you have to kill a lot to get your own merchandise and tourist based knickknacks, right?
He may feel a little jealous if you collect merch for other slashers though. Don’t be surprised if you find your Freddy fedora in the trash or something like that.
If he were to pursue you as an unlucky victim only to find out you were a fan, he wouldn’t spare you but he’d try to make your death special in some way. He has his reasons for killing you, but that doesn’t mean he won’t give a fan a proper show…
Bubba Sawyer (and co.)
Bubba likely didn’t even know about their merch at first, and doesn’t really know what to make of it.
They respect it as a cool little hobby of yours, thinks it’s sweet that you’d show interest in the things he does.
Chop Top and Nubs get a real hoot out of it, they probably sell Bubs on the idea of the merch since she values family so much. Anything her brothers are so fond of must be good, right?
Drayton likely isn’t a fan. The fact that the murders are well known enough to become a local story with souvenirs and everything makes him even more paranoid than before, so I doubt he approves.
That doesn’t mean you won’t catch Bubba wearing one of those “I Saw Texas” shirts on laundry day though.
Killing a fan would likely make him very sad though. An outsider who actually likes him is something he never thought possible, so once again Bubs is forced to kill his only connection to a person from the outside world… He’ll try to be merciful.
Freddy Krueger
If you think Michael is full of himself, you haven’t met Freddy. Myers seems humble in comparison.
He will actively complain if you buy merch for other slashers instead of his, if you don’t have a shrine before October is out you’re doing something wrong!
I’m sure somewhere in his own little realm he has a museum dedicated to himself, and he’d gladly let you borrow an old little number of his to wear as a costume.
Will 100% call you basic for buying anything Haddonfield related but the ultimate sin is buying anything Jason or Camp Crystal Lake themed.
He was already salty that you were looking at other slashers, but JASON?! He’ll get you for that one, and your little dog too!
If you’re already a victim and he finds out you’re a fan of his work, it adds an extra layer of sick pleasure to the killing. What better way to snuff out a fan than to kill them himself? You like his murders so much, fine, he’ll murder you.
Jason Voorhees
Confused at first. There’s this mug in his cabinet all of the sudden that looks just like him, when the hell did that happen? Maybe you got a new skill and made it, impressive. Then he sees hockey jerseys with his mask on them, big goofy plastic machetes just like his… Where the hell is all this coming from?
He asks you about it and when you tell him there’s a store that sells things with his likeness he doesn’t know how to feel. Flattered? Insulted? Undeserving?
He’s still not sure, but seeing you enjoy yourself while putting the items to good use makes him happy… So he accepts it.
Jason would likely spare an average fan outside of his camp, especially if you’re younger and see him as an icon for the misunderstood. But if you’re an obsessive fan, willfully encroaching on his territory in search of relics or sightings, he’ll kill you. It crosses a line into disrespectful territory in his eyes, as he’s very sensitive about his past.
Ghostface
You really know how to get on his good side, don’t you?
Every Ghostface is an egotistical megalomaniac, and you being a fan just makes it so, so much worse.
Especially if you guys are living together and/or know each other outside of his life of crime… Bonus points if you’re unaware of that fact, excitedly showing him a piece of merch you paid way too much for while he smiles down at you. How cute.
It motivates him to add a bit more panache to his killings this year, maybe he’ll even write a little message to the fans in the victim’s blood… Though it’s clearly meant for you.
He will definitely collect merch for other slashers with you, he probably already has a sizable collection himself! He harbors no jealousy towards the classic slashers, only admiration. Newer slashers though… He might have a little competition with.
The classics are classic for a reason, you know… They just don’t do it like they used to, only he can truly capture the art of killing!
Chucky/Tiffany
He finds it hilarious but will constantly complain about how it doesn’t capture his likeness well enough, like a Flynn Rider poster situation.
He will definitely bully you about it but will also get upset if you stop collecting because of his teasing, so don’t mind him!
Tiffany loves it though, thinks it’s the cutest thing how much you admire them. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s been collecting Chucky’s merch for a while now, but it’s hard to keep the collection updated when she’s always moving.
Despite his complaining, you can and will find him drinking his morning coffee out of a mug shaped like his head.
If you find a shirt his size he might wear it if he’s going undercover, just for the sake of irony.
Tiff loves those Good Guy sweaters you find at Spirit Halloween, and those stupid lil knife purses too! She’d wear those things year round if she could.
Chuck would definitely wear a Tiffany costume if he was in a femme body, but aggressively refuses otherwise. He thinks it’s not hot if he’s a dude.

Pirates of the Caribbean Steddie + Ronance AU
So. I'm aware of the pirate Steddie AU, but what about a Pirates of the Caribbean AU?
Eddie as Captain Eddie Munson who lost his beloved ship, Hellfire, when he refused to carry "human cargo". He needs to repay his debt to Davy Jones, but newsflash - Eddie is actually a good guy and doesn't do shit to collect the souls he owes. He just collects misfits into his crew and tries to prepare for the moment he ends up in Davy Jones's locker. His crew has a lot of kids that lost their parents to the British navy - Dustin lost his dad and he joined the pirate crew to provide for his mom, Erica and Lucas were freed from a slave ship, El was being transported as a part of a circus/freak show...all that and more.
Nancy Wheeler is the daughter of the local British official, Mr. Wheeler. She would prefer to study and travel the world, but her only value lies in being married to a suitable person to expand the connections for her family. Nancy plays her role well and often talks to her assigned match, Steve Harrington, a son of a local wealthy merchant family. She and Steve are childhood friends and actually dated for a while, but it didn't work out, they function better as friends and they know it. They are both resigned to eventually being married, Steve finally having his family off his back and Nancy regaining some freedom in marriage with Steve because she knows he'll allow her to pursue her dreams, as much as possible.
The shitshow starts when Mr. Wheeler reconsiders the marriage and actually agrees to wed Nancy to a young officer from the navy, Jason Carver. Carver is traditionalist, considers Nancy more of a trophy wife and if Nancy thought that lifetime being married to her childhood friend and pretending to be in love would be dishonest, this is way way WAY worse. She and Steve try to plot, they try to figure something out, but Nancy's father forbids them to see each other as it would be improper.
As luck would have it, the pirate ship Hellfire targets their port next. It is well known for its connections to the Royal navy. However, what the pirate Robin Buckley - joined Eddie's crew at fifteen when her parents found her in bed with her music teacher (would be bad as it is, but the teacher was a woman, gasp!) - goes to plunder the house of the wealthy merchants and finds a handsome young man there instead. He tosses all contents of his parents' safe at her, already packed, and informs her that this is all hers if they take him and his friend out of this hellhole. Before Robin can react, Steve climbs the window to Nancy's room, tells her they're joining/being captured by the pirate crew (Nancy just rolls her eyes and says "well, beats marrying Jason fucking Carver") and that's how they end up on Eddie's ship.
Eddie just stares at the two and very guilty-looking Robin. "So. Are you joining us or are we capturing you for ransom?"
Steve returns his gaze and doesn't flinch when Dustin ransacks his very hastily put together sack of clothes. "Whichever allows us to stay longer. Now, shouldn't you set sail? The navy usually reacts by daybreak."
The pirates aren't happy about the newest addition, thinking Steve and Nancy would be a burden, but they soon prove themselves. They disregard their fancy clothes and scrub floors, climb and fulfill their duties without a single complaint. Nancy soaks in all information about navigation and shares what she knows about weather patterns from her studies, back when she was too young to get married and was free to do what she wanted. Steve inspects the crew's weapons and identifies when they could crack, which ones should be better maintained. When they ask him how the hell would a rich boy know this, he just shrugs and says that since his parents were never home, he often stayed with the local blacksmith, Benny, and observed him working. He would have liked to become a smith himself, but of course his parents wouldn't stand for it.
Of course they fall in love. Of course Steve adores the dashing captain with his heart, soaks in adventures, freedom, the new friends, but mostly just Eddie, Eddie who is vilified but always does the right thing. And of course Robin and Nancy fall for each other, finding in each other what their families refused to allow.
And maybe Eddie gets saved by Steve from his fate, moving in front of him when Jason Carver wants to kill him. Maybe Steve has to serve for ten years on the Flying Dutchman, but he'll be fine, because Eddie wants to pay his dues and will serve those ten years with him, no matter what Steve says. And in ten years Steve and Eddie will be free, because if in ten years someone who loves Steve waits for him on the shore, then the curse will be broken, and Robin and Nancy will be there. They will live on the shore, watch the sea every day. And in ten years, there will be a free room in their house for their two friends who didn't age a day, and neither did their love.

I would like to see the Jewish headcanons please
Hi yes thank you so much I wasn't fishing for this at all
We've already covered this in that post that gained me 150 followers in a week, but obviously Peter Parker is Jewish. My personal headcanon is that he's Ashkenazi and somewhere between Reform and Conservative. Like he flip flops on keeping Kosher and observes the high holidays as best as he can assuming there's no world saving he needs to get done, but overall being Jewish to him is about community and culture over the religious part of it
For Bucky Barnes, however, being observant was a way to reclaim his identity after... Well, you know. He's vaguely conservadox? He doesn't really define it beyond being Sephardic. He keeps Kosher (which was difficult during WWII unfortunately) and wears tzitzit and goes to shul whenever he can. He'd love to keep Shabbat but it's just not practical most of the time - essentially it's like being an on call doctor, where your job is essential to saving lives and therefore he can't keep Shabbat properly, but he likes to have Friday night dinners with his friends (and Natasha, whether they're together at the time or not) whenever he can. He doesn't know if God exists, but during the High Holidays is when he comes the closest to believing it
Bruce Wayne is canonically Jewish but like, by accident? I feel like he less defines himself as Jewish and more defines himself as Not-Christian™. His mother used to take him to Synagogue but the memories are vague now, but he always enjoyed lighting the candles on Hanukkah, especially with Jason. He stops celebrating the holiday after Jason dies, because he loved it so much. It's a shame because I KNOW Cass would love Hanukkah and Steph would be so into the Maccabees' story
Tim is also Jewish but he's entirely non practicing; his parents were never around to celebrate any holidays or impart any Jewish traditions on him and Bruce had stopped doing the one Jewish thing of lighting the hanukkiah/menorah (whichever you wanna call it) by the time he became Robin. The main Jewish thing in his life is antisemitic garbage being published about both Bruce and himself, especially once he becomes CEO of WE
Damian was raised Muslim and doesn't really know how to feel about being half Jewish. When he grows up he might try to find a way to reconcile those two parts of his identity, but the only Jewish person who actually practices that he sees even irregularly is Batwoman, who's his cousin once removed and he's not exactly close to, so he just doesn't feel the need to deal with it yet
The Thing and Batwoman are canonically Jewish this doesn't count as a hc I just love them
Same for moon knight minus loving him cause I have a bunch of his comics but just haven't gotten around to reading them
Actually can we talk about Mayday Parker? Because I feel like Peter would absolutely raise his daughter to be Jewish. He wants her to feel that connection to the Jewish people even though he's always been so wishy-washy about it and she grows up to be way more observant than him
I actually don't want canon!Clark to be Jewish, but I think exploring his Jewish subtext in fic can be so interesting? Cause, you know, he's Moses and shit. I feel like an Modern Orthodox Clark would have the exact same values as current Clark but also I'd love to hear his thoughts on certain Mishnahs, you know? Also having read the Death of Superman arc earlier this month I can confirm all Jesus metaphors in adaptations are such bullshit oh my God did you even read the comic
Anyway I think that's it for now? Unfortunately I have not read Every Comic Ever yet so there might end up being even more HCs later on (especially since I plan to read Greg Rucka's Lois Lane series soon and I'm hoping for some Jewish subtext in that)
Thank you so much for asking this was so much fun!!

this may not be news to many of you bc I have not been able to shut up about it since I first finished the books but for the fast food enthusiasts who feel like a 50k essay might be too big of a commitment, in tonight’s edition of READ TOA, GUYS let me try to condense this into a shortest & simpler (& simplified! Nuance's definitely gonna be lost here) form…
Basically, to characterize Apollo’s arc in TOA as a redemption is… incorrect.
Ok well no, I’ll admit, I did that for effect (gotcha tho, huh ;P), let me take it back immediately, it’s not incorrect bc 1) he himself does characterize it that way, and 2) Apollo did do some terrible, terrible stuff in the past and through the course of the story he takes responsibility, atones to the best of his ability, and vows to not repeat those mistakes anymore, all of which fits the definition of redemption to a tee. But the thing is… this isn’t his main character arc! It barely qualifies as an arc at all bc despite what Apollo tells us, Apollo starts out from the very beginning of THO already already feeling responsible, already willing to atone – with his own life, if necessary – already committed to not repeat past mistakes. All this character work… he’d already done it well before the rrverse begun. His actual character arc in TOA isn’t about realizing that he must do this, but about realizing that he CAN do it. That he HAS A RIGHT to do it, in fact. Because his life experience under his father’s rule had convinced him that correcting his mistakes was impossible, and that showing care toward people & forming connections with them would only end up in hurt, not just for Apollo but, even more crucially, for those people too. And that WAS the reality Apollo lived in before TOA, and still is the reality Apollo returns to live in after TOA. And that’s crucial to understand, because that’s the context we must keep in mind to interpret Apollo’s pre TOA choices & actions. He acts like he doesn’t care because caring about others makes them into easy targets of his enemies and family members, two categories that coincide more often than not. He’s an asshole to the demigods even as he actually helps them precisely to obfuscate the fact that he’s helping them. He presents himself as an unreliable, capricious figure to them because he quite literally can’t offer dependability to them. Because another thing he always knew, even though he lies about it like he does about everything else, was to give value to promises. SO he could not – he would not let himself promise help that he was not free to give in the first place.
Except in TOA, suddenly, he is, because he's not a god, he’s not bound to the rules that tie the gods’ hands, that keep them tied to their Lord whose flighty benevolence they all depend on, anymore.
Because he has nothing left to give, finally he finds himself actually free to give it. Because he has nothing left to lose, finally he finds himself free to grab for stuff. To dare want and dream and hope and LOVE like he could never afford to before, except maybe… maybe one or both of those two times he'd been punished with mortality already, way back in the ancient days.
"Remember what it means to be human," Jason tells him, and it has so much more meaning than Jason can realize.
Apollo's actual arc in TOA is not one of redemption, even though he keeps telling us it is. It is one of self reclamation, both symbolically and literally, from the theft of agency & purpose & identity that he was victim of, that is a perfect representation of what abuse effectively does to a person, what abuse effectively had done to him. It is one of self actualization. It is one of learning to believe in his own heart, his own choices. To be proud of them, in fact. To see them validated in the way they inspire people's love and faith even when they are backed by no power at all. To discover that he was never alone after all.
And despite what he keeps telling us, Apollo does know this.
He recognizes Meg is abused because he sees himself in her, because he sees that her relationship with Nero mirrors his relationship with his own father. He is terrified that once Meg is reunited with Nero she’ll fall back into line like nothing has changed, let her stepfather make of her his obedient victim and trained killer once again, because he knows that HE might, when he’ll be faced with the same choice. Because why wouldn’t he? His problem was never an unwillingness to do better, it was that he effectively didn’t have a choice.
And yes, among his extremely limited options he didn’t always pick well. He did highly questionable things, and not all of them out of strict necessity. But the truth is there really wasn’t a GOOD option for him to pick at all. His was a lose/lose situation.
And now, at the end of the series, now that he’s back, it is once again, except – except for the part where Apollo has learned that he isn’t alone.
As crazy as it may sound, considering he started out the series proclaiming he expected everybody to do his dirty work for him, Apollo’s character arc was all about learning that he can lean on other people for support. That he has friends he can count on. That’s what the closing words of the pentalogy mean. They are not only a promise, but a request to the readers to believe in the best version of him, the most authentic version of him, the person we got to know, to discover, all through our journey together as he gradually opened up and let us see it. Gods are powered by belief, and “call on me” means “have faith that I will come”. It means “lend me your strength, so I can lend you mine in return”.

Jason Todd
Tumblr media
• At first, Jason would misjudge your naiveness and childlike tendencies as just being your way of expressing yourself in a humorous way; however, once that naiveness causes you harm he begins to keep a very close eye on you. He’s almost disappointed that you allowed yourself to get into certain situations when you’re fully away of the type of people he especially fights to keep at bay.
• Your naivety doesn’t push Jason away from including you on missions though, as despite this he still knows that you can follow orders and be a part of the team when it’s required. Since you’re aware of everything he gets up to he tries to stop himself from making distance between himself from you, which hurts him just as much as it hurts you too. But because he knows you are efficient and can still follow through in times of need, this rarely happens and the risk of your naiveness being a cause of danger is less that what it originally may have been.
• Sometimes he does find you being young and naive quite refreshing, as it reminds him of a worry free childhood and it isn’t very often that he can find someone so at ease in life that they can be such a way. However, he does also understand that a rough childhood can have differing results on different people, so he’s always keeping an eye out in case of any trauma is causing you problems like it has for the rest of the family. Also, due to his own experiences he catches onto what may have happened in your past very quickly.
• In his best attempt to protect you, Jason tells you the names of everyone you should be staying away from, and areas you may live near by too. He knows that you’re smart enough to stay away from these places when you’re off duty, so he knows that he only needs to tell you once. Just because you can handle yourself well and are smart enough to get out of situations doesn’t mean he doesn’t worry - but that’s just his protective side coming through.
Damian Wayne
Tumblr media
• Damian gets tired of you being naive quite often as he finds it as a form of incompetence in everyday life, but that’s only due to his stubbornness. However, he does recognise that during missions and in times of danger your naiveness seems to disappear - and the things that are important are really prioritised by you. This is something he values quite a lot.
• Damian starts to have someone keep an eye on you quite often as he thinks that since you’re young you still can’t quite look after yourself too well (even though his entire family were doing absolutely crazy things at your age). Because of this he does treat you like a child sometimes, but once he needs you for something important or during times that he’s had time to reflect on what the two of you have been through he treats you quite adult like in the moment.
• Damian begins to view you entirely separately from your own vigilante self, as the two different sides of you are completely different (but not in a bad way). It shows him that you can embrace the two aspects of yourself while keeping a perfect balance between the two. You’re able to enjoy the small things in life and trust people as well as someone who has suffered very little - but you also know how to deal with those who take advantage of others and purposefully try to hurt the vulnerable.
• Damian finds it hard to lie to you regardless of you’re naiveness, as despite him being very stoic and able to lie when he wants to you still know him to well and know how to figure people out just as well as the rest of the family. Because of this he finds it extremely difficult to make excuses about things he may be doing or places he’s been (especially if he’s been injured and doesn’t want to tell you about it - or tries to make you worry less if you have actually seen the injury).

Brutim as damian's parents.
Damian needs the parental stability and obviously a father figure isn't enough-- That's what Tim realizes. It starts with small things, a small pat on the head, fixing up his clothes, telling him he's doing a good job and that he's so proud of him. Things that could be counted less paternal more... brotherly.
Once Damian stops responding in violence, that's when Tim starts step two in his plan. He starts kissing him on the forehead, calling Damian a good boy, his precious boy, etc.
Damian starts calling Tim mama and that's when Bruce starts paying attention. It's when he starts noticing the curves of Tim's hips, the smoothness of his hair etc etc.
Anyway
Tim, petting Damian's head: so how do you feel about getting a sibling
Damian: no thanks, I don't like sharing
Tim, obviously pregnant with Bruce's kid:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i LOVE this idea because truly, i think that damian, just by proxy of being bruce's son and related to him would be affected by tim's desire to help bruce. tim helped bruce regain himself after jason. he was prepared to do anything and become anyone just to make sure he stayed alive.
so tim has no problem with adjusting the kind of relationship in order to best do his 'job'.
he realizes that damian doesn't respond well to brother figures, even his relationship with dick is more paternal than brotherly. so damian needs parents, their the relationship he values most in his life and responds the most well to.
well tim isn't much the paternal type but what he can be is maternal. soft and warm and providing for damian's emotional needs.
damian responds well. much more favorably than he ever did to tim's other attempts. which is enough encouragement to keep doing it.
damian is surprisingly receptive to tim talking to him with a softer voice, to his praises, and to his encouragements.
it's easy to see damian's youth and a glimpse of childishness when he comes to tim with a straight back but red cheeks and a permission slip in hand for a trip to the zoo. gotham academy is asking for chaperones and both bruce and dick will be busy that day. damian explains that if tim is the chaperone then he and damian can just drive back home at the end of the trip rather than damian having to go back on the school bus. chaperones are allowed to drive their own vehicles to and from the sight and damian hates being on the school bus.
it's really only a matter of rescheduling the few meetings he had that day and dedicating his day to damian.
it's the first time damian really reciprocates. he doesn't pull away or scoff at all as tim fixes his uniform tie or takes out a napkin to wipe away some of the whipper cream from the ice cream they bought.
damian has a tight fist wrapped in tim's sweater the entire afternoon. he doesn't stray at all, listing out various biological facts and holding lecture for the other curious children in their group.
it's at the end of the day when the children are loading onto the bus and damian is waving them goodbye that it happpens. tim is confirming damian's attendance with on of the teachers and signing a form to leave when one of the girls that had been part of tim's group yells back a sweet call of 'bye damian! bye damian's mom!'
tim sees the look flash across damian's face. just the slightest flicker of widened eyes and emotion before his expression clears with all the indoctrination and training from the league.
damian is a sweet boy. tim is pleasantly surprised to find that out.
it almost makes his chest hurt knowing how underneath that veneer of snarky words, sneers, and violence was just a boy who liked art and animals and was so desperate to be loved.
maybe it started as a way to try and bridge their relationship for bruce and the family's sake- but it very quickly becomes something that tim does for damian's sake.
after the day at the zoo damian seeks him out more often. tim takes charge of many matters reguarding damian, he takes over driving him to school for alfred and given that winter is approaching, alfred is very grateful for it.
tim gets up an hour earlier each morning so he can fix up a quick breakfast for damian and also make his lunch. damian stumbles down bleary eyes and yawning and tim combs and slicks back his hair for him while he eats. he uses a lot less gel than he did as a kid.
one morning it's snowing pretty heavily. tim is standing by the window and staring, damian's backpack in hand while shooting a considering look at the unshoveled snow.
it looked like a snowday.
alfred had already taken the town car to drive bruce to work. dick had spent the night at one of the apartments in town and jason was out on a mission in star city with roy.
it was just him and damian and damian was intently watching the news ticker, waiting to see if school would be cancelled for him. it was such a normal kid thing to do, kneeling on the carpet in front of the TV and eagerly awaiting to see whether he could stay home.
tim couldn't help the blossoming fondness fill his chest at the sight, growing more when damian's face split into a grin and he pushed himself up to race to tim's side.
"mama! school's cancelled!"
there's a soft weight that hits tim's abdomen and wraps him in a small hug.
tim barely registers the word until later. when he's chopping up a block of baker's chocolate and boiling some milk and cream on the stove for hot chocolate.
'mama'
the word plays through his mind. again and again.
'mama mama mama'
it's said in such a sweetly innocent way to, a description not often attributed to damian so the rest of the family notices immediatly.
but that coupled with tim referring to damian tenderly as his 'precious boy' or his 'wonderful child' makes their feelings towards it a bit split. not that it matters since tim was doing this firmly for damian.
damian who was in such better spirits, who was acting more his age and less of that hardened and bitter assassin.
bruce is especially taking note of it. getting a soft look in his eye when damian returns home and talks about how school was in a way that could be easily mistaken as a normal child speaking.
bruce, remarkably, starts spending more time with tim and damian. joining them on occasional outings, patting damian on the head and offering slow and hesitant praises on top of the ones tim gives him.
it's steady and tim appreciates the effort. bruce gets this look on his face when he hears damian call tim 'mama', bruce is still 'father' to damian.
much more formal and distant and bruce must know it.
one day they're alone. tim is chopping up some honeydew as a snack for damian when bruce slides behind him and murmurs lowly to his neck, 'excuse me mama i just need to get something'.
tim shivers at the tone, at the weight of bruce's hands on his hips and the heat against his neck from his whispered words.
that happens more often too.
bruce's touch reaching out and lingering, his presence at tim's side, his low voice whispering things in tim's ears.
it seems like bruce also has a fondness for tim's new title of 'mama' given how he whispers it into tim's ear as he's fucking him. telling him 'so good mama, you're being so good for daddy' as tim whines and grinds his hips back onto the cock stretching him open.
things are good and are bound to get better.
one night tim is wrapping up reading a book for damian. he's dozing off, eyelids heavy and nuzzling tim as his breathing slow.
it's so calm and quiet and tim springs the question just as damian looks like he'll nod off.
"dami," tim whispers, "how do you feel about getting a baby sibling."
tim's not sure what he expects but a scrunched nose and disgruntled sound as damian replies-
"no, don't want a baby, i don't want to share you." before he reaches out and buries his face into tim's neck.
tim freezes and glances down at the hand cupping the barely visible bulge in his belly.
oh.
well this was going to require some very careful maneuvering.

I am insane for your tma x dc headcanons! I have to ask, do you think any of the other dc characters are entity aligned? Heres a few hcs i had:
The Scarecrow: honestly might be an avatar touched by all the fears like Jonathan Sims. Probably like Sims, he started researching the fears and Scarecrow became obsessed w them. If i had to go with a single entity, i would say he is Dark/Corruption/Eye alligned
The Riddler: Eye or Spiral alligned
The Joker: slaughter or corruption (the angst if Jason shared an entity w his murderer!)
Poison Ivy: Extinction?
Harley Quinn: hunt or stranger aligned? She was hunting down the cure for Jokers issues, but he wasnt who she thought he was and she became the prey
Killer Croc: Flesh babey!
Two face: maybe another slaughter?
The penguin: Web
I dont know enough about non-batman characters to do others tbh
Okay, so in my opinion plenty of characters have been touched by various Entities or even marked by them in ways that can motivate them without fully being Avatars or aligning themselves with those Entities. Like, Scarecrow just screams to me of someone who was touched by the Spiral (and is probably in real danger of becoming an Avatar,) but he’s holding on to his own sense of rationality as hard as he can and trying to make Fear make scientific sense. Someone who would walk out of an impossible corridor, and spend weeks measuring the outside of the building trying to find where the hell that corridor was supposed to fit, before sending someone else in to see if they experienced the same thing, only to become fixated on the differences… Not saying that’s what happened, but Jonathan Crane had some kind of experience with the embodiment of Unreality itself, and he definitely feeds it regularly.
(Harley, likewise, seems more like a victim of the Spiral, Corruption, or Stranger than anything else. Oh, she’s still a supervillain/anti-hero depending on the day, but her origin story is of her mind being broken by the Joker’s abuse. That is either depressingly mundane, or being chewed up & spat out by one of those three Entities.)
I hadn’t thought much about most of the villains, but I am 100% with you on Ivy being an Avatar of the Extinction, and I can definitely see Croc as an Avatar of the Flesh. I’d throw in Hugo Strange as probably being at least aligned with the Spiral, and Pyg has definitely at the very least been marked by either the Spiral or Flesh (though I don’t know him well enough to say if he’s a full-blown Avatar or not.) If you only saw my first post, I also decided Talia & Ra’s are both aligned with the Web, though Talia values her own freedom enough I don’t think she’s a full Avatar. They’re the ones who helped Bruce find the Mother’s embrace. Damian was supposed to be a Web Avatar as well, but he’s just a little too desperate for love when nobody’s looking; his swarm is silk worms & moths, and he does manage to fake it for a while. If Joker’s an Avatar, it would either be the Stranger, Spiral or Slaughter, in my opinion, but I always like when experts of every kind take time to study Joker and are like, “Yeah, IDK WTF is going on with that guy, but I hate it.”
(Jason is an Avatar of the Desolation in my version, because the Slaughter is about the violence on as large a scale as possible while the Desolation is about the very personal aftermath. The Slaughter is War, where the Desolation is something taking out your entire life in one single night and leaving you behind to deal with it. Jason absolutely wants his targets to be scared of what will happen, what he’ll do to them, but in a “destroy everything you’ve ever worked for & drive away everyone you ever cared about” sort of way; not a “blow up an entire city block for no reason” sort of way. And given how much Jason cares about protecting innocents, he’s actually partially starving himself by not following through on complete Desolation the way people like Jude Perry do. Imagine if The Archivist (around s3) tore out the last page of a statement & threw it away without glancing at it before he started reading. That’s basically what Jason’s doing to himself.)
Some people in the DC universe, though, are just Like That(TM). Sure, it can be hard to tell supernatural trauma apart from genuine mental illness, but it’s still a superhero setting and some people are just little freaks (affectionate.)
Like, Oliver Queen? Just a little freak with a bow. Just a weirdo. Black Canary? Superpowers, but not of the Fear Entity induced kind. She’s just Like That(TM).
Speedsters? Oh honey, you better believe they’re all just Like That(TM). Anti-Avatars, if anything; those bastards basically became one with a potential aspect of the Vast and went “But what if I was just. Like. Nice about it? Or only mean in extremely specific, petty, personal ways? What if that?”
My main “outside of Gotham” thought is that Amazons are aware of the Entities. Primarily, they have to be very careful & monitor eachother for signs of potential influence of the Hunt, but they’re aware of others beyond it (though they might define the Entities along different lines thanks to cultural differences & all that; I don’t have any specifics, I just really like that headcanon that while certain fears are nearly universal, the way different cultures group & view them are going to be different. Like, if spiders are viewed as purely benevolent & good luck by the culture you were raised in, it’s very unlikely any capital-f Fear is going to have a spider motif. Smirke separated the Buried from the Vast, but aren’t they both primarily about being overwhelmed, about Too Much? At the bottom of the ocean, is there any difference? Why should other cultures draw that same line?) This created some tension with Batman at the start of the Justice League, as Diana knew even if he wasn’t lying when he swore to have the best intentions, Batman was still walking a razor’s edge; he could become a monster so very easily. On the other hand, it was a huge relief for Dick (who, again if you’ve only seen my first post, I’ve changed my mind on and decided he’s a Hunt Avatar) when he first met the other Titans and they all went over their powers, to have Donna realize what he was talking about and promise to stop him if he ever lost control. A promise she has actually had to follow through on a few times, when a villain got into their heads and pushed Dick too far; he sleeps better at night knowing Donna is both willing & able to wrestle him to the ground and keep him from hurting anyone, even when Dick’s gone full-feral.
(The tag for this AU on my blog is "tma crossover," if you wanna check out the... everything I have for it.)

no scratch my battle of the bands au lemonade mouth nerdy prudes au!!!!!!!!!!!!!
steph is charlie, our drummer. she’s under a lot of pressure from her dad to do the right thing, be the right person. he’s had her on the soccer team her whole life, even though she fucking hates it. she’s played drums since she was a kid, when a music teacher caught her adhd ten miles away and suggested using the sticks to stim. it’s her passion, but her dad doesn’t give a shit.
ruth is stella, lead guitar. her family just moved for her dad’s job, and her mom is pressuring her to be more behaved at a new school. she’s never fit in with her family’s traditional values, the young housewife, concerningly older husband, five kids, stay at home mom, purity, misogynistic shit. her parents refused to buy her a guitar so she slowly stole from her brothers allowance for years until she had enough to buy her own.
richie is wen, keyboardist. he learned to play classical piano as a kid with his mom, but he hasn’t played ever since his dad died a few years ago. he’s still dealing with his grief but his mother as figured out how to manage hers and found a new boyfriend, and he’s not dealing with it well.
grace is mo, the bassist. she comes from a very strict christian family, who would never let her play music like that. she plays the chello in the school orchestra, aces all her classes, everything. she’s scared to deviate from her family’s plan for her. not because she doesn’t believe in god, but because she wants to be a regular american teenager.
which leaves peter as olivia, our lead singer. he was in dance classes a kid and had an absolute breakdown freak out of stage at a school dance recital, which left him relentlessly bullied his whole life. he writes music as an escape but would never consider singing for anyone else. he’s got severe performance anxiety. he lives with his older brother, and has since he transitioned at 11 and his parents threw him out. recently, his mom has been trying to get back in touch with him.
the rival band of mudslide crush becomes jäeger and the man, with max in the lead. kyle and jason are back up, and the three are all also football stars, making for rulers of the school. jason has been flirting with grace semi-innocently (for the standards of anyone but her) for a little while, and she’s going along with it bc she’s having a crisis of self.
on ruth’s first day, she gets in trouble for calling the principal a sexist motherfucker. the same day, steph loses her cool and chucks a soccer ball at the head of a girl who was bullying hannah foster, the only freshman who made it on the varsity team. jason keeps grace in the hallway after the bell rings to try and ask her out, but she freaks out and gets caught in the hall running away from him. richie called a teacher stupid. peter gets caught having lunch in a custodial closet.
which leads all of them to detention. the music room they are sentences to has an ancient rickety lemonade machine just outside. a can for a quarter: ziggy’s lemonade.
the music teacher, miss holiday, is running their detention and leaves them with cleaning suppies and a room full of instruments. steph starts drumming on the desk, and richie tosses around some keys he’s putting away. ruth recognizes a rhythm between the two, domino effect, and they start playing some of the instruments. steph sits at the drums, and ruth picks up a guitar. richie and grace are both hesitant, richie for having not played in a while and grace for not wanting to get in any more trouble than she needs to, but they both join. they make a nice beat and peter finds himself singing in front of someone other than ted since he was a kid.
miss holiday returns and tells them they are a fantastic band, which leads them to all scatter and i is it they aren’t even really musicians. she pushes them to consider trying out for the rising star competition at the honey festival. they all deny, but ruth pushes them to give it a try.
they do so, but it doesn’t work out immediately. it takes them a little time to find their sound, but boy do they find it. ruth signs up to perform at homecoming, splitting the show time of jäeger and the man in half. they’re pissed, and max starts terrorizing them. they all band together to stand up for each other, and steph ends up spitting some of her lemonade at max when he’s attacking pete, and he calls her “lemonade mouth”
not great as far as insults, but band names? it’s one of the best.
they’re scheduled to perform at homecoming, but peter has a panic attack and locks himself in a bathroom stall. they coax him out and they do perform, to so much cheering. they sing a song that peter wrote (determinate) and get halfway through a song with ruth’s lyrics about rebellion and shit when the principal shuts them down.
everyone fucking loved them though. there was a kid who recorded the set and made it into a cd, which sells like crazy. at one point richie peter and ruth are hanging out at peters apartment and hear their song on the radio. they call steph and grace and all get so excited, and then get offered a standing once a week set at pizza pete’s.
everything’s going well, and they even think they might win rising star, when it all falls apart for them separately. richie finds out his mom is engaged and loses his mind, tries to run out of the house, and runs directly into max. he provoked him and comes out with a black eye. steph breaks some of her fingers in a fit of frustration (slammed them in drawers she was slamming on accident). grace gets super sick just before the competitions and ruth is more concerned with the fact that the lemonade machine is being removed than the competition.
pete suggests to steph maybe just giving up, and she gets mad at him for not caring. he says he never even wanted to do this, and when she asks why, he yells at her that’s it’s because he’s been into her for years. he loses his voice in the process and goes home. ruth calls them all to come protest the removal the ziggy’s machine, which gets them all arrested.
steph’s dad is pissed, ted thinks it’s hilarious, richie’s mom and him have a heart to heart about emotions and being a teenager, ruth gets saved when her older brother picks her up instead of her parents. grace is in real trouble, but confronts her parents about how being reckless and having fun with friends doesn’t mean she hates god. she can be a christian and still have a life, and they agree.
the rising star competition is a joke, max’s band kills it, and they can’t even really perform. but they try, and when they fail, hannah foster in the crowd stands up and starts singing determinate. everyone joins her, even doing the dance that they preform with it. they’re a real band, even if they didn’t win rising star.
they keep playing at pizza petes for a while, all the while writing songs. steph and pete get together, and grace realizes she’s aromantic. ruth gets a gf who’s a fan of the band, richie finally gets the courage to ask out long time crush, trevor, who works at the cineplex. richie’s mom marries her boyfriend, where steph finds herself, on total coincidence, sat next to ziggs.
ziggs is the friend of the girlfriend of richie’s uncle, which somehow led to an invite to the wedding. they talk to steph about a lot, including the band. the group talks them into donating a shit ton of money to the school to save the arts department.
while continuing on and preforming, they get found and offered a record deal. they make an album and release it just as they finish high school. it goes absolutely viral. they shoot ip the charts and make so much money. in less than a year of the band being formed, they’re selling a sold out show to madison square garden.
peter writes a letter to his mom explaining how it all happened, and explaining that he appreciates the attempt but has no desire to stay in contact with her. they he goes to msg and performs his music with his people.

@exhausted-pigeon you taunted me now deal with the consequences.
I don't really have one interpretation of him, I have several.
Do you know that post that says that comics are a bit like ancient myths, and how a character may have many sides, depending of what story is being told? Yeah, this is mostly how I approach comics, with only one difference, comic characthers aren't immutable, so they can change and evolve.
You see, a comic book character exists beyond the pages, it exists on the popular imaginary, it exists on movie adaptations, tv series, animated series, games, and so on, and often those media interact with each other, see Harley Quinn, for example, who was created for the animated series but later was properly introduced to the comic universe. And why this is relevant, you might ask, because, well, the character doesn't exist as a hard and well defined character, it exists as several interpretations.
For me, as a fan and not a DC writer, is useless to find who is the Real Jason, he doesn't matter for me. Several writers have written and published their interpretation of Jason, and sometimes contradicting each other, so instead of trying to find a coherent narrative of who is Jason Todd I rather accept there are many, and then I play with them depending of the situation and the story I want to tell.
For me, there's the Angry Jason, the Jason who didn't forgive Bruce and never will. This Jason is more violent with his methods, more ruthless on the streets, he isn't afraid to face Batman or any other bat. He does what needs to be done, and has no intention of playing by any rules that not his own. He's unpleasant to be around, and more often than not the only thing he shares with the kid who died is the memories, because even the name Jason Todd is foreign to him.
I have the Broken Jason too. This Jason awoke in a world that moved on without him, and had nothing to cling on except his name and his memories. This Jason is angry too, but he's also hurt. He lashes out because that's the only way to make sure he's going to make a difference this time. His violence it's not because he wants to punish the world, he's violent because he's afraid of the clock ticking against him. He wants to make as much difference as he can before he dies again. He wants to accept the family back because he didn't had that the first time, and he wants to know how it is, to have a safety net and people to have his back.
I have the Grieving Jason. This Jason mourns for the kid who died, and who lives this second life to make sure that kid never die again. He's his own protector. He is violent because if this is what it takes to stop it all, then he'll do it. He doesn't hate Batman and doesn't think there's anything to forgive, Bruce did the things he thought right, and it wasn't enough, so Jason himself will fill in the voids. This Jason is more melancholic, his death was something that changed him so deeply that he is no longer the same person as before.
I have other Jason's too, altought not by name. I have a Jason that never really changed, and he is the exact same Jason as before, but it's easier for everyone to pretend he's not. I have a Jason that only needed a bit of time to understand things. And I could keep going forever. For me, all those Jason's exists in the comics, it's just a matter of highlighting certain characteristics.
The most permanent interpretation of Jason that I have is actually more of a set of values I consider the core of the character. I think he's a very emotional person, who cares too much and has hard time letting people go, even after they do him harm. I think he has his own moral code, that may vary depending of the interpretation, but always include saving people rather than punishing the agressor. I think he has a hard time separating justice from revenge, and when he does he has a even harder time deciding which path to choose. I think he's a bit too dramatic and likes to act like he's the main character in the story. I think he's too brave for his own good.
I hope this makes sense

I feel bad but it's like :( idk I bndjawjdkawkdnwajkdnwjkadnjkwandjkwa fncsmfadfwadwaiownfjvkabfa dawdnhwaiodjawmdwa he was a little more dominant again and he didn't do anything radical but it's like dnbjadiwa it's the little things its the in theory harmless jokes he makes that get me thinking "there is no love for me in this world". Cuz we're just cuddling or wtv and he'll say something silly he'll make an innocent joke or he'll say we've cuddled enough (though we always keep cuddling afterwards) because that's literally all we did today and I am like permanent marker I just stick to him and if it was up to me I'd never let him go because the physical touch is just way too nice. But that kinda stuff gets me thinking "not even he can love me" and idk i feel like I can't get away from that. It feels too good to wallow in self-pity. And I'm trying to be better? I'm trying to have goals and I'm trying to be ok with the fact that he thinks I'm pretty and that he likes my body. This is also something, he comments on that a lot, on my physicalities and the sex we have, but like rarely about who I am as a person. ndjwkanda it makes me think "I'm a pile of trash and he (bless his soul) was able to find a little worth in me" and that worth is just my body, in case he isn't just lying about that.
He does often say that I'm his favourite person by quoting some song we both find stupid, it's cute and silly and very sweet of him, but I keep thinking those thoughts.
Also, I recently read Jessica the wizard eats a third horse and man, there's a scene where Jessica lies on the floor and phantasizes about being sung to, cradled like a useless tiny baby and then thrown away in the trash. I actually read that scene as L was sitting next to me in the subway. My god. That killed me. It kind of has a happy ending but like dnjkawndjwadnjaw Jason Steele, whyyyy. I can't get it out of my head and it's not helpful regarding me wanting to get better. I've been questioning whether I actually want to.
I do need to become my own person. L said that himself, used those exact words. I said that there's only moths and dust in my head, and he said that there's also a lightbulb and all the moths fly towards it and I said the light bulb was him, and he said no, and I insisted and so did he. I asked why and he said I can't be completely dependent on him and that I need to become my own person. I don't know how to get there. It was very sweet of him.
I need to remember that he likes being a little more "harsh" with people that are very close to him. He said that his love language is to use insults, and I need to keep that in mind. I shouldn't take it personally when he says "shut up" or when he jokingly asks me "are you stupid" or when he calls me a stupid goose or cow like today. My god I still get butterflies. I ndwjadnawjk there's only one way to deal with it, which is that I stop being so sensitive because he shouldn't have to change the jokes he makes and how he expresses that he's comfortable around me and likes me because YES HE DOES HE ISNT LYING AND I NEED TO LEARN THAT TOO. He sees value in me. I wonder what it is he sees in me. I wonder. I wonder. I wonder. I wonder if he wouldn't be happier with someone else. It doesn't matter, though, because first, he's stuck with me and I ain't gonna let him go that easily because I need him and I love him and it's ok but I need to be my own person as well and it's fine :(
I just got butterflies thinking about his "you don't deserve me" joke. And it's true, I don't deserve him. When we talked about it he said that he shouldn't say stuff like that, he shouldn't because we are in a relationship and because one just doesn't say that kind of thing, not even as a joke. I still get butterflies. I still get butterflies. I still get butterflies. I don't want that to stop. It feels nice somehow. I need to make him believe I've gotten better. I just haven't gotten better because I don't want to, because I romantisize the idea of the broken girl and being sad and depression and being useless. I have butterflies. Or maybe this world really can't bear any love for me and maybe BECAUSE of that I have to be kind to myself but I feel like I already am kind to myself. I feel like I am nothing but kind to myself. I think that I see myself realistically. Can't I get butterflies from him saying I'm pretty? Can't I get butterflies when I feel loved? Can't i feel loved? I wonder whether he does. HE DOES HE DOES I NEED TO ACCEPT THAT; I NEED TO TRUST HIM but I can't let go of being sad. I should be honest to him. I should tell him I don't think I've gotten better and that maybe I don't want to but no, I should be honest or say nothing but not pretend taht I've gotten better just so he'll hit me again and spit on me. I shouldn't lie. But he is not my therapist and I should not trauma dump on him and I should be gentle, because all of this affects him as well because he cares about me and yes, he does, and this is proof that he likes me. He loves me, doesn't he? I like to think so. I'd like to think so. I do, don't I? It's hard to accept.
I need to get better but right now I feel so comfortable walowwing in sadness. I felt really sad the last couple of days on several occasions while hanging out with him. No particular trigger, just feeling sad and worthless.
He loves me. I love him. I could at least learn that. I'll try to. Maybe it's ok that I'm not perfect and that he is aware of my faults, but he still loves me. Like Zizek said, loving is not to idolise, it is to love despite the faults. Maybe this is what L is doing with me, the purest kind of love. I don't deserve him. What even are my politics of whom deserves whom? Idk. I shouldn't worry about that, all I should care about is that our love is, in fact mutual. That's the first thing. I think I accept that. It's ok that I'm not perfect. It's ok that he knows that. If he can see my imperfect, fat body, he can see my imperfect, awful personhood. And I'm ok with him seeing my body, so I can be ok with him seeing how I suck. And it's ok. He still likes me, for whatever reason. He likes the sex we have. He can also like the other interactions and conversations we have. Yay. Ok. I'll be fine. Right now, that's how far I'll go. Mutual love. That's it. I'll internalise it. I can keep being sad for now. It feels too comforting. I want to cry.

Place of viewing: Royal exchange theatre
Story rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cast rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Design rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heavy trigger warnings for discussions and depictions of domestic violence, child loss, depictions of dementia, depictions of grief, allusions to eating disorders, allusions to mental health issues and sexist language.
Shed: Exploded view is a masterclass in theatre that I cannot in good faith recommend to anyone. Following the story of Lil (Haley Carmichael), Abi (Norah Lopez Holden), Naomi (Lizzy Watts) and their partners, Tony (Wil Johnson), Frank (Jason Hughs) and Mark (Michael Workéyè) it is an awareness piece on relationships and domestic violence. Spoilers ahead, trigger warnings will apply in part to this review.
I found the most pleasant story to be that of Lil and Tony, an older couple who married in 1995, as they navigate their relationship, with both of them being married before, as well as Lil’s frustration as Tony loses himself to dementia. I found their relationship to be sweet, compelling and heartbreaking, Lil especially was amazingly played, Haley Carmichael did a fantastic job, however I feel the story does hit one of its sticking points here that keeps getting hit throughout all 3 of the parallel stories, it plays it’s dark themes far to much for shock value, when Lil shouts in frustration at Tony who doesn’t understand why he can’t leave the house (the play jumps around in time from between 1995 and “now” (2024) so parts are set during lockdown), it is shocking and distressing to watch, however as a tragedy, it misses the emotional catharsis, as well as this, it is mentioned that before Tony, Lil was married to an abusive man, however this plot point is mostly brushed over (being mentioned only a couple of times, most notably in Lil’s final monologue (which was brilliant btw, I love this cast so much)), serving mostly to act as a parallel to Abi’s abuse and eventual murder at the hands of Mark, this left it feeling like there was missed potential in Lil’s story, however as a whole she was a good character.
The second plotline follows Naomi and Frank, a middle aged couple who married in 1995 and encountered Lil and Frank on their honeymoon and later go on to have a daughter- Abi. Naomi is by far the stand out character of the show, with the best of the stage time being given to developing her relationship with Abi. Overall, Naomi’s relationships with both Abi and Frank feel realistic, however it suffers from a similar problem, when Naomi performs her final monologue at the end of the play (another brilliant monologue, I find myself wondering if this play would’ve been better if viewed as a collection of disconnected monologues), the energy stays very heightened, like the story is tripping over itself to make you feel something, to the point where it only leaves you feeling overwhelmed. Frank was very well played and his relationship with Naomi was believable to how a marriage when one of the partners is disloyal (however as I have never been in a relationship, I cannot attest to that).
Abi and Mark’s plotline is where the story trips over its own feet the most, from the starting monologue, the story foreshadows that Abi is going to be violently murdered, so when she meets Mark at university and has dubiously consensual sex with him, it becomes quite obvious that it will be by his hand. The play goes out of its way to show the good times that Abi and Mark have in their relationship, showing that abusive partners are not always the stereotype of abuse, however these moments can sometimes fall a bit short, as it shows them seemingly only having nice couple times, then takes a drastic turn near the end, the idea was good but the execution was a bit heavy handed. Abi and Naomi’s relationship is by far my favourite, their moments are some of the only reprieve the audience gets from the constant distress the characters are in, however the play does seem to want to portray Abi as having some resentment towards Naomi, but this does come across as teenage angst. A major area Abi’s characterisation falls a little bit flat for me is her past history of eating disorders, while Mark does make fun of her for being fat and we do have one scene of her running up to her room as a child (followed by Naomi and Frank talking about food and a doctor), it feels glossed over in a similar way to Lil’s abusive ex, like the story expects us to see this in Abi’s character, without actually having her react in a way that would be consistent with this.
In conclusion, Shed: Exploded view is a beautiful play with brilliant actors that acts as a masterclass of shocking your audience, however the characterisation can sometimes fall short and the story lacks the emotional catharsis it needs to be a truly compelling tragedy, I think it would be interesting to watch it again, to see if it would be different when it can’t shock me.
