Toddlers are absolutely wild and I love them so much.

Stop chewing on the shoe. It isn't even yours!

Stop sticking your fingers in someone else's mouth! You can't be surprised if someone bites you if you do.

Look. If I have to wear pants, you have to wear pants, so let's just suffer together, ok? [said during a diaper change when the child kept trying to take off their pants]

The only chalk we eat is Tums and Smarties, so get that out of your mouth.

Are you smart? Yes, you're smart. Are you kind? Yes, you're kind. Are you loved? Yes, you're loved. Are you able? Yes, you're able.

Where are your shoes? Where are your socks???

Each day, I take a look at my Weekly list in my Hobonichi Weeks, and I choose which tasks to focus on for the day. I prioritize them by using my Daily Priorities Notepad to figure out my top three priorities, then grouping all other tasks into “Urgent” and “Not Urgent.”

When I start tackling tasks, I choose three things to focus on and write them in my Bullet Journal. When those three tasks are complete, I choose three more from my Daily Priorities lists, then tackle those three tasks, and so on and so forth. Listing out only three things at a time helps me to not be overwhelmed by the amount of tasks I want to get done.

Prioritizing my list first, helps me to know which tasks to tackle first. This system has been such a relief on my brain and has been helping me to focus better.

welcome to my studyblr!

i'm peach, i'm 27, last fall i successfully defended my master's thesis and this spring i submitted my thesis with all revisions completed! i took two years off between my bsc and my msc, and also had a sort of weird situation applying to grad school that made me anxious but it all worked out, so i'm happy to talk to people with application anxiety surrounding grad school. i'm also the first person in my family to go into academia like this so i'm figuring a lot out on my own!

i've been navigating being out as a nonbinary lesbian (they/he/fae pronouns, tho i only really use they irl) in grad school and got lucky to have an amazingly supportive supervisor and lab

currently: getting ready to apply for an NSERC doctoral scholarship this fall. this is going to involve a lot of reading up on my intended research topic to figure out what my project is going to look like. i'll be talking a lot about this i think.

i also have a job in biology outreach right now, which i may talk and post about here as well!

October is done - what a long, hard month, for the primary reason of needing to move my parents to assisted-living and then help my brothers and SILs to clean out their large house so it could be listed asap. That put a serious dent in my reading time - thank goodness for @librofm and @libby.app audiobooks to listen to while driving back and forth. Stickers on the October pages are all from @mochibujo Patreon kit and exclusive sticker rewards - I love that black cat 💖💖 - except the ghost garland and that’s from a @sarahandersencomics calendar. And onto November!! Hedda put up her November journaling kit on Patreon and I absolutely fell in love - fall colors and cottagecore but inspired by Hedda’s current trip to Japan. I love the motion in the drawing of the girl with the parasol, like she’s dancing among the leaves with the breeze swirling her kimono around her. (And then I couldn’t resist the cheeky goose in the kit that looked like it was joining in😹) I had plans to hand-draw the ginkgo leaves in the “Days Read” tracker except my ambition ran into my non-existent drawing ability - the practice sketches looked more and more like unfortunate popsicles 😬 so I gave up, found a very nice set of line art on Shutterstock, and cut them out instead 😹 (and yes “handmade by an art lover” was beyond too good to put right over the correction tape in the “book release” tracker where I’d forgot to pay attention to dates 🤪) Hedda’s printables got an assist from Anna @journal.away / @papermonogatari Fall in the Forest collection (washi, plant and fox stickers) and a couple of stickers from Hedda’s @ikigaipapir sticker sheets. I love how this all came together to start a new month. Please enjoy Shakespeare Mitten, who decided to be the Very Best Helper and brought Green Froggie to my desk.
