god word of honor really is just the show of all time isnt it. it's a wuxia drama but god it just feels so authentically human. The sins, failures, atonement, redemption. vulnerability, the desire is just so deliciously portrayed, simple yet compelling and entirely relatable. every character no matter how little the screen time is nuanced and interesting [except Shen Shen who is a whole dumbass throughout]. The romance though understated is tangible, a beautiful queerness that lingers across the episodes, not just in the love that's portrayed but the beliefs and ideals it deals with - the monstrosity and the shameless pride in it. I have watched this show five times and it feels like ill never tire of it

For years, I've poured my heart and soul into my art, yet insecurities have often derailed my vision, whispering doubts about the worthiness of my creations and whether anyone would truly appreciate them. But through it all, I've come to realise that art is not just about external validation; it's a deeply personal journey of self-expression and growth. Yes, this is something I know well - but your insecurities are very good at convincing you otherwise sometimes.
Growing up, I was always drawn to art in many forms. Whether it was sketching in my maths book during class or losing myself in front of the piano, creativity was my sanctuary, my safe space - a place where I could escape everyday pressures and troubles and just dive into my imagination. But as I got older that annoying and nagging voice of insecurity began to creep in, creating doubts over my passions.
I remember very clearly the first time I hesitantly shared my artwork with others, waiting for their reactions. My heart raced with anticipation, longing for validation yet fearing rejection. Would they see the flaws I saw? Would they dismiss my creations as amateurish or unworthy of attention? These questions plagued my mind, threatening to overshadow the joy I found in creating. How simultaneously CRAZY and sad, right?!
Yes, I understand that art is a journey of self-discovery, a process of embracing imperfections and celebrating individuality. It's not about conforming to external standards of perfection, but rather about staying true to oneself and embracing the unique perspective we each bring to the world. Acceptance of this, I began to loosen the grip of insecurity and embrace my art with newfound confidence, but sadly that does not lock the demons away for good, lol.
No… My journey has not been without its challenges. There have been moments of frustration when my vision refused to materialise on canvas or digital canvas and there are still times when self-doubt threatens to derail my creative aspirations - But through it all, I have clung to the belief that art is a reflection of the soul, a testament to the beauty and complexity of human experience. So… regardless of what my inner ramble says, I have made a conscious decision to let go of fear and to continue sharing my work with the world.
If I am truly honest with myself… making the decision to share my art with the world, despite my lingering insecurities has been one of the most transformative aspects of my creative journey. Yet, even as I received positive feedback towards my art, I still find myself having to silence my insecurities. As frustrating as this has been, I have also come to witness and realise that it seems to be something which many creatives battle with, so at least I know I am not alone, lol.
Nonetheless, I've come to realise that my creative journey is not defined by what others think or whether or not my stuff even sells… it is about the joy and fulfilment I find in the act of creation itself. Each piece I create is a reflection of who I am, a snapshot of my thoughts, emotions, and experiences frozen in time. And whether or not others choose to purchase my art is ultimately beside the point – what matters is that I continue to create, to explore, and to grow as an artist and as a human being. So, yay to that haha!
So here I am, denying my doubts entry and just moving forward with what I want - and what I want is to share my art with the world… to have it up on walls and enjoyed, not only from a visual perspective, but from an emotional one too.

For the ones joining my new writing-only blog, my baby Substack: I will upload one poem every day for the next 15 days, so expect some e-mails in your inbox! :)
If you have been here for a while, you must know I was in desperate need of a writing-only platform — in fact, if you remember, I even tried a side blog, but that didn't work for me (and the novel is cooking atm). So, for the sake of my peace of mind and my writing, I will upload all the poetry in here to this sparkling, brand-new Substack.
After a few days on that platform, though, I can already tell I'm not going to follow what I perceived to be the pattern. Do I feel like a fish out of the water? Yes. Do I plan to change? No. Is it good for ''marketing''? Nope! But I literally can't force myself into a non-authentic space. It gives me anxiety.
I believe in using the platform instead of letting the platform use me. I'm free. That is unnegotiable. So, I will do my best on my own terms, as many things annoy me about the writing culture of these times we live in and I refuse to wear the halter. Oh, I promise I'll never try to coach you, start mothering you, or try to sell you a "how to write poetry in 5 steps" guide. No hooking titles. I won't join the experts-on-shit FOMO cult to prey on other people's triggers or to feel ''good'' about myself at the expense of others. This type of thing actually creeps me out.
But I do promise we can just resonate and inspire each other by being honest and raw, by having a brave heart so we can keep being kind, and by pursuing truth, beauty and art... How about that? We can enjoy the vibe and cultivate this appreciation of words! We can even chat as writer friends, as reader friends or just as friends friends — and encourage each other through real, second-intention-free presence.
If my writing doesn't touch you, it's fine. If yours doesn't touch me, it's fine. It's not personal, it's not a bad thing. We are all finding our voice. The day you think you know everything, you're dead, so we have to keep searching, moving and growing together! How many times have I needed the words from @cssnder @goodluckclove @hersurvival or @remnantofabrokensoul, and so many others around here (iykyk)? And I'm very grateful for every word and idea you all shared here in this amazing space, helping me to keep going, to break from my shell and lay another brick in the foundations of what I want to create.
That is the beauty of it. Creation demands connection. That is respect and human experience. And I repeat it: sometimes what I create won't touch anyone but me.
Oh, but what if it does!
Well, that being said: I actually do have some crazy ideas for the Substack. At first, the focus was on creating some substantial and self-indulgent content about literature (I like to study). Although I still think that's important, exciting and valid, Poetry is making its way through my inked fingers more and more, demanding space, attention, and voice; so I will not neglect this calling.
What about the future? I don’t know. Paid subscriptions for specific academic literature content? Prophetic, devotional newsletters?Generating debates on books for the community? Just poetry that you can read for free and not engage at all because I can be quite antisocial at times? Digging around some old ancient advice on writing? None of the above? Anything is possible, really. For now, I will slow down and avoid contributing to the hamster wheel of modern despair for the speed of light living and likes.
For now, poetry, please.
And tea. Lots of tea, because it's raining.
The grass looks so green!

Angie! I love you and your writing! I have VERY niche tropes that I enjoy reading and I think that is what’s so beautiful and fun about fiction. It’s just that… fiction.
You can be whoever you want, do whatever you, create WHATEVER. YOU. WANT. Dictating and policing peoples ideas and creations in any art medium (writing is 100% art) is both condemning and harmful (and lame if we’re gonna be honest)
Anyways, I’ve never fully like dark fics and stories because I personally cannot handle some of the topics but would never come after someone for writing what is on their mind, for find some kind of escapism from this mundane thing we call life.
So, that being said (sorry for ranting in your ask box) pregnancy trope is one of my faves across all genres, I never think of child, nor want children, but man, if CaptainJonathan “I’ll fix your daddy issues, baby” Price asks me to give him a couple. Hey, who am I to say no? That’s the fun in writing, doing something and imaging it, even if it may never happen in real life.
In love with your blog (especially the Nikto fic another man who could keep me at home taking care of his kids and him) and all things you write. I saw you’re on a journey of ignoring other people’s bullshit and I’m proud of you! Keep that wrinkly brain of yours peaceful and full of all its incredible thoughts. MUAHMUAH
this made me a lil 🥲🥹
It still sort of surprises me that people actually go out of their way to leave hate on the content other people share with them? ESPECIALLY on anon like, please? I have balls enough to get on here and actually put out content, but you have to hide behind the silly little anonymous toggle to shit on it??
Anywhoo I'm protecting my peace and will continue to write my little girlypop frilly fluffy ideas !!! because it's my blog !!! crazy !!!!

Karate History & Box Art Redemption
Tumblr media
About a year and a half ago, I mentioned Jordan Mechner's seminal 1984 game Karateka in a post about Sifu, a newly-released beat ‘em up with a similar martial arts theme and tough-as-nails difficulty level. Sifu's a good game that garnered a certain amount of scrutiny from people who pointed out that it was an interactive experience steeped in Chinese culture but developed by a predominantly white team. This is not inherently a bad thing (Sifu’s devs did a respectful job), but considering Western media’s track record of misrepresenting Asia as an exotic place full of Fu Manchu-mustachioed bad guys and subservient women, it’s always worthwhile to be cautious. At any rate, Sifu reminded me a lot of Karateka, another game by a non-Asian creator that owed its lifeblood to Asian culture...and even featured the main protagonist and his love interest as white on the box art, despite the fact that the game clearly takes place in medieval Japan.
The Making of Karateka, a just-released interactive documentary by Digital Eclipse, explains the logic behind this decision via extensive notes that detail every step of the game's creation. From what I can discern, the box art design doesn’t appear to have been Jordan Mechner’s call. (Though the playable Karateka beta included in this package reveals that Mechner had some wacky non-Japanese names in mind for the game’s villain and damsel in distress... Akuma and Mariko were once dubbed “Kratang” and “Tiger Lily.” Yikes!) Rather, publisher Brøderbund’s marketing team seems to have been the division that assigned artist Thomas Blackshear II to paint the cover, instructing him that the titular Karateka was supposed to look like "a young Chuck Norris" or "Luke Skywalker" while Mariko should resemble an "American blonde." Meanwhile, only Akuma was specified as "Japanese."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brøderbund’s promotional strategy followed the typical American metality of the era: it's okay to portray a bad guy as a foreign race, but leading men and ladies should be white and ideally blonde. It didn't have to be this way, since Bruce Lee had dominated cinemas with Enter the Dragon only a decade earlier and proved that audiences could accept an Asian hero. But Brøderbund decided to go the safe route, despite the fact that Thomas Blackshear is a person of color renowned for his Black and American Indian paintings. (He also portrayed a decidedly unblonde and possibly Asian main character in his early cover sketches.)
My intention here is not to hate on Karateka or any of the individuals involved. The original Karateka game for the Apple II did, after all, feature white hair for its leading man's sprite that could easily be interpreted as blonde (though that was likely due to hardware color limitations more than anything else), and Brøderbund justified their decision by claiming they were inspired by the multicolored hair of Japanese manga characters. (Eh, sure.) Also, if we're being honest about it, Blackshear's final art is a beautiful composition even with the questionable racial depictions.
Tumblr media
Rather, I'm fascinated with Karateka's box as an example of mildly problematic '80s promotion, and I love how we gain insight into its development thanks to Digital Eclipse' painstaking efforts with what they call the first in their "Gold Master Series" of playable documentaries. Aside from these marketing details, The Making of Karateka delves into Jordan Mechner's early life in precise timeline fashion, letting us explore planning documents, early rotoscoping footage and prototypes of not only Karateka, but the games that preceded it, including Mechner's take on Asteroids and a shooter he was trying to develop called Deathbounce. There's even glimpses at the bones of a platforming puzzle game that started out as Karateka II and would later evolve into Prince of Persia.
Just about every review of The Making of Karateka stresses how this package sets a new standard for preservation in the video game industry, a business that is terrible at chronicling its own past. I won't repeat these arguments too much other than to say that I fullheartedly agree. Behind the scenes featurettes used to be a thing when it came to games — as a kid, I remember being utterly absorbed with the "Making of King's Quest VI" footage that came included on the CD-ROM — but these days you're unlikely to see too many of them, especially for titles that were released decades ago. In a world where Nintendo has yet to localize Mother 3 and customers need to rely on emulation and all types of hacks to revisit old games, Digital Eclipse's commitment to curating digital museums dedicated to works like Karateka is an incredible worthy goal — possibly one of the most important goals that a video game company has ever embarked upon. I can't wait to see more volumes in the Gold Master Series, and can think of many potential entries off the top of my head. Pitfall! Ultima! Doom! Maybe even one day...Sifu? (Likely a stretch, but stranger things have happened.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But going back to the discusson of art for a moment, one of the most monumental things that The Making of Karateka does is offer a "remastered" version of its title game, complete with impressive graphical flairs, a more managable difficulty level, and even...revised box art. While Thomas Blackshear's original Karateka painting is still displayed prominently throughout the package, when you go to select Karateka Remastered under the list of playable games, you'll see a new mockup box. No longer is Akuma a dehumanized Japanese baddie, no longer is Mariko an all-American girl, no longer is the titular Karateka Luke Skywalker. All three characters are Asian...and get this, the central Karateka is not only Asian, but blonde too.
In one swift stroke, The Making of Karateka not only captures history and chronicles its mistakes, but also revises them for a bright future. Take that, 1984 marketing.
Tumblr media
Update: An earlier version of this article stated that the new mockup cover art was illustrated by Digital Eclipse in-house artist Mae Livingston. Mike Mika, the president of Digital Eclipse, reached out to me on Twitter to explain that while Mae was responsible for Karateka Remastered's in-game artwork, the actual box image was made via Midjourney, and the characters were tweaked multiple times to look more culturally appropriate. He added that this methodology was an experiment that Digital Eclipse does not intend to rely on in the future.
I have very mixed opinions on AI art, and I do wish this box had been created by a human. I don't know if I would've written this piece if I'd known that the artwork was made by Midjourney, frankly. Nevertheless, I appreciate Mike actually reaching out to me, and the ultimate message of this article still stands. I hope Digital Eclipse considers the power that an image like this holds — especially for multiracial people like myself — and chooses human artists in the future.

I need to address something in academia that I've noticed... censorship. I can't stand the hypocrisy going on in these spheres about the arts being reflective of the "most high" and ultimate beauty. If that's the case, then why demonize and make the creation deemed filthy, needing alteration and purification? This, for instance, touches on it too:
It’s a great example of what I'm talking about. I'm not coming for the first video fully, I understand YT will demonetize if you use some words, which... in and of itself is also part of my issue here on free speech, and the embracing of art.
But I got really excited when I saw he was going to use, of all poems, "Howl" by ALLEN GINSBERG with the included Footnote to Howl but sadly, disappointed in this altered version.
I get it needing to be shortened for a lesson video. But, really, how can we actually truly embrace and enrich ourselves and pride ourselves on being conservers of art and history when we keep trying to sensor and purify it? I'm absolutely over the purification of art while also harping on about "Nature" and "God" being in art and all things.
I don't believe in God and yet I do believe that whatever is, if there is something higher, does live fully and entirely in art. The expression of the human life in its most vulnerable, wrenching, “ugly and beautiful” in such a dance of synchronicity, duality, mirroring all, one can’t exist without the other. So, no, it cannot be wrong, it cannot be disgusting or unholy, case in point, THIS POEM.
Stop trying to police what just is. If you believe in God, or something or nothing, it is all present in art, in humans, in animals, it is everywhere and it deserves to be seen and appreciated, fully inspected and respected in its ultimate raw and honest truth, however that comes out, palatable to you or not. It's true form in that it is as it is.
There is no divide. There is no bad or good body, that sentiment extends to art.

Oh God! We need to talk!
I have been insane ever since the RWRB movie came out but I guess you can only stay immersed in a fandom for so long before you start to see its more insidious aspects.
This thought has entered my mind before but I chose not to engage because fandom should ideally be fun and a break from reality. Unfortunately, all of humanity's creations contain humanity's flaws and I can't keep turning a blind eye anymore.
I don't think this post is going to do much but if it makes even one person realise they aren't alone in their experience it would have served its purpose.
So, let's talk about fandom racism.
The only other couple that I ship that is an interracial one is Joe and Nicky from The Old Guard. They are also an interfaith couple so they really had the odds stacked against them from the very beginning. But by the time I came into that fandom, there was a real movement to call out racial bias and ignorance in Joe's portrayal. So I thankfully avoided the racism in that fandom because when I got involved in that fandom there was an active will to counter said racism which also made me very careful regarding how I interacted with that fandom. I was just more informed so I protected myself.
The thing I totally forgot while getting into this fandom is that FirstPrince is also an interracial couple. This fandom is very passive in its racism because you can tell fandom racism exists by how people choose to not interact at all with certain elements that are a part of this ship and never has the insidiousness of racism been more obvious than since the movie came out.
It's obvious that a lot of people just didn't engage with the fact that Alex is biracial. The book actually plays a huge part in it because, for the most part, it doesn't do a good job of portraying Alex as someone who comes from two cultures and speaks two languages (even though I have to say that the only time Alex speaks Spanish where it is presented as such in the book is also one of the most beautiful moments in the book and that fact that it isn't talked about nearly as much kind of proves my point). But with the release of the movie, it's harder to ignore Alex's race.
I mean frankly, it is so obvious in the way this fandom treats the actors portraying these characters that they are being confronted by the interraciality of this couple for the very first time.
It's a lot harder to ignore colour on screen.
I love the fact that the director chose to lean into Alex's roots.
But the true impetus for writing this post comes from a fic I recently read which reminded me of this post that I had seen on Tumblr (you can read it here) and combining that with the above issue meant that I felt like I should speak up if only for my own mental peace.
Now, I am very much of the opinion that if you don't like a fanfic you shouldn't engage with it because fanfic writers don't owe you anything. The mere fact that they choose to share their works of art with the public is kind of a very selfless deed. But, I need to talk about this fic because it really started highlighting the issues that insidiously exist in this fandom (we should probably make a drinking game of how many times I use the word insidious in this post).
Henry running away from Alex at the lakehouse is something that only works if you account for the fact that he is an honest-to-god Prince. His actions in any other scenario are just douchey. Fanfic can get very creative and I'm pretty sure that fanfic writers can come up with alternative ways of making this scenario work even in an AU without him being royalty but it needs to be creative to work.
In the book, this works because Henry is a prince and the one thing that I know about the British Monarchy is that it has a will for self-preservation like no other. So you can sympathise with Henry's position without needing the details. It's also important to realise that the monarchy is not just an institution for Henry it's his family. At some point, he is going to be the son of the reigning monarch abdication or not.
But if you try to spin off an AU in which Henry pulls this stunt except with way more viciousness then you better come prepared to make him GROVEL. It really hurt because apparently people reading this fic were angry with Alex for his understandable vindictiveness something I gleaned from the author's notes on the various chapters and not because I read every comment on the fic so I could be wrong about how people were reacting to the events in the fic but clearly the author believed that the events in the fic would garner hate towards Alex which was literally unbelievable to me. Because predictably it's Alex who takes the first step towards reconciliation and Henry literally does the bare minimum. Reading this fic was so disturbing and disconcerting because I don't think the author even realises that they have set such different standards for Henry and Alex in this fic which made it infinitely worse.
Henry's abandonment of Alex just doesn't work if he isn't burdened by something as powerful as the monarchy and I don't get how that isn't obvious.
The Tumblr post I came across also on a similar note is pretty succinct and I like the point it is making.
But it got me thinking and I realised that Henry's initial rejection of Alex can't be read as Henry rejecting Alex, it has to be read while keeping Alex's lived experience in mind. So no matter what Henry said be it the "get rid of him" version from the book or the "get me out of here" version from the movie, it still can't only be about Alex and Henry it also has to be viewed through the lens of race and class differences that exist between these two. It means that Alex not only has to deal with a person being rude to him he has to deal with the fact that this person is rude to him because of things about him that are a fundamental part of who he is. Of course, that isn't the case here but I don't blame him one bit for jumping to conclusions. Also, in this case, context matters and I like the fact that the movie changed the line because with context Henry's position is much more sympathetic than in the book version of his line (which is incidentally never brought up in the book).
I also like the fact that Henry is the first to contact Alex unlike in the book where Alex gives Henry his number and Henry just decides to use it because it showcases a will to know Alex. Henry makes an effort to give this relationship a chance on his own terms which is something I didn't know I needed. It also means that Alex isn't the only one seen fighting for and wanting this relationship. We have express proof that Henry wants it too with not one but two instances in the movie.
I should probably also tell you that so far I haven't encountered a whole lot of racial bias in fics in this fandom so you are actually pretty safe because I'm pretty sure I have read more than fifty fics in this fandom and not one was insidiously racist. The racism is more observable and notable with how this fandom treats the two actors differently but when I read this one fic and yes so far it is only the one fic that I was tempted to quit in the middle but didn't because by that time it had already become the straw that broke the camel's back and I didn't want to critique something I hadn't read in its entirety.
So, here it is whatever this is. I hope this helps in some way either in validating some people's feelings or alternatively making someone else recognise their own bias.
That's it from me!

so excited to share my 13 page 12pt times new roman font single spaced analysis of The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymous Bosch...... like literally even if no one reads it I get to know that I wrote the worlds most baller Bosch analysis essayyyyy ever bitchhhh likee.... just saying .. spent many hours slaving away at this (my first time writing an essay since high school?) just out of my own free will and it was incredibly rewarding wow....
opening and closing statements, to give you a taste:
"When first confronted with a painting as phantasmagorical in nature as The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymous Bosch (c. 1490-1510), the viewer will undoubtedly feel overwhelmed. The imagery that Bosch executes in fantastical detail depicts the rise of Man, his experience of transcendent earthly pleasure, and consequential fall. This narrative arc is splashed in a bawdy display of hedonism across the work, fabricated solely to instill a fear of God in its viewer"
... entire essay here...
"An incredibly complex work of art, The Garden of Earthly Delights was groundbreaking for its time, and is a strikingly beautiful display of well thought out thematic visuals and artistic knowledge. However wildly creative Bosch’s Garden is though, he was still confined to the boundaries of knowledge of the time he was in though, as well as late-medieval Christian morality and the desires of his patron. One can only imagine what Hieronymous Bosch might have conjured with the magic of his paintbrush in another time. Shrouded in mystique, this work is both a wonderland and hellscape of enigmatic creatures, lovers, and landscapes drenched in lust. Is it an honest and vulnerable look into Man’s defect of sin? A heavily dramatic warning on overindulgence? Or could it even be a sardonic mockery of the religious ideals of the time surrounding such things? Decide for yourself. This is a piece that has been notoriously debated for centuries, yet Hieronymous Bosch’s masterpiece still eludes factual explanation, and that is precisely what makes it so impressive to every generation of humans since its creation. This painting, and its lavish world within, will continue to nimbly evade any notions of earthly (or heavenly) actuality under the disguise of a ghastly premonition of what will befall Man for his birthright Sin for the rest of its existence. Bosch has created a masterpiece meant to evade explanation, strike terror into hearts, and expand minds."

(un)True Artist
Today tumblr radar featured an "art" piece by verum-artifex. As their bio says, it means "True Artist" in Latin, but there's nothing "true" about this art; it's artificially blenderized through use of one of those art theft engines. Here's a snippet from the image so you know what to watch for:
Tumblr media
It should be a great piece: it features a studious, dark-skinned Black woman dressed in white, standing before a book case, reading a book. But there are no obvious human touches and no indication that digital assistance was used to help the artist rather than do all the work for him.
Initially the art wasn't labeled as being "AI" generated, but apparently enough people called the hack on their bullshittery that they went back and added tags. There's also a post explaining their actions in that elitist, condescending way that so many tech bros tend to adopt when they get caught.
Tumblr media
[alt text: Headline reads: The Essence of Verum Artifex: with the subheading A Journey Beyond Mediums.
Welcome to Verum Artifex- My journey in the world of art has spanned many years, enriched by various tools and mediums, both digital and traditional. Recently, AI has emerged as a valuable collaborator, not to overshadow the human touch, but to amplify imagination and bring visions to life.
The core essence of every creation here is birthed from human emotion, experience, and creativity. It's not solely the tool used, but the stories, emotions, and concepts they represent.
As you delve into this space, I humbly ask for an environment of respect and understanding. The beauty of art lies in its ability to evoke diverse emotions and interpretations. While I strive for artistic integrity, it's crucial to remember that Verum Artifex is a realm of limitless creativity and possibilities. Some pieces may be explicitly tagged based on the tools or methods used, while others might not. Regardless of tags, every creation, be it hand-drawn, digitally crafted, or AI-assisted, is a testament to the passion, thought, and artistic intent.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here, let's celebrate art, imagination, and the myriad ways we express ourselves on this vast digital canvas.]
VA very clearly doesn't want people looking closely at the methods they use because the message and emotions are more important. It reads as deflection, to me. As Marshall McLuhan famously stated, "the medium is the message." It may not be true of all artists and creative types, but it's true enough that even someone as art-ignorant as myself recognizes that how you choose to deliver your message can be just as important as what you say.
I think if they were more willing to consistently tag their stuff as being artificially generated, I might be willing to grant the benefit of a doubt, but as it is, nah. There's plenty of honest and straightforward artists out there whose work I can peruse; I don't need to waste my time on someone who knowingly uses tools based on theft and doesn't see a problem with it.
Just passing along info without giving the fauxtist any more traffic.

Ooc ask:
I live on the opposite side of the planet to most people, and I spend time of my day checking your blog, knowing there won't be a new post at this time, but waking up in the morning to see your posts is something to look forward to.
I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you for being here, on this site, creating an amazing character, with a fascinating story event and a beautiful team of pokemon.
Thank you for this gift of artistic creation.
ooc:
thank you so much! to be honest i just have a horrible sleep pattern and generally post at 1-2am because thats when i finish my art.
i'm currently working on my own major project for pokemon irl, and its going to be several months in the making based on how long the art is taking because it is very image heavy with few words spoken. I hope you stick around for it!
if you want more art by me, (and haven't followed already) have a look at @prettyskitty973. i also run that blog and post art more often; although its generally a sketchier style.

not to be cheesy or anything but i'm ao glad i know you, even if it's on a superficial-tumblr-mutuals way. it always makes me ao happy whenever i see your beautiful creations on my dash, whether it be art or writing —you're amazing at both
i always want to come to your inbox and scream about your art (in a positive way ofc) but idk, i feel like that'd be unwelcome after a while
anyway, you're great and awesome and i'm happy you're here <3
Honest to god these asks came at the perfect time because I sort of entered a very not-okay headspace yesterday and reading these has been incredibly comforting.
I sometimes feel unable to reach out or make connections the way I wish I could, and you wouldn't believe how many mutuals I feel similarly about, where I just feel happy to see you all across my dash. Being excited about whatever brings you joy. I love that tumblr is sort of at its core just about being openly and honestly fucking jazzed about this THING that you LOVE. And the inherant authenticity of fully indulging in what makes you happy, and what makes you you. And so even if we've never like, sat down and had a conversation, I feel like seeing what moves you and touches you and affects you is a pretty big thing.
Scream at me anytime. I'd never feel burdened by it.
Thank you <3

sorry for the late reply! im the songxue anon! just saw your responses a few minutes ago and my gosh, you're really very sweet ;; im sorry to have caused so much of a fuss but thank you for being so compassionate and kind ;; (also i adore that crying xue yang omigosh what are you talking abt how can you think thats not amazing its perfect i love it). also the tags? on your first reply??? people are mean to song lan????? WHO IS MEAN TO SONG LAN??? WHY??? HOW????! i'll be honest, i tend to avoid getting involved with fandom discourse At All Costs bc i dont need that kind of stress in my life, so mainly i just look at fanart and fics i like and stay in my lane so i had no idea there were people who hate on song lan???? like??????????? how????????????????? okay, i love xue yang, he's my baby, but i TOTALLY understand people hating him. he has no rights and he deserved everything bad that happened to him and so much more. i just happen to adore him and wanna spoil my stupid lil meowmeow. like it makes SENSE to be mad at xue yang but like.................................. how can anyone hate song lan?!?! HE DID NOTHING WRONG?????? LITERALLY HE JUST GOT HURT, OVER AND OVER, FOR NO REASON????? im sorry for going on such a tangent over a very short tag you added but im a lil flabbergasted that anyone could hate on Best Boy. also while im going on tangents about tags, your 500 aus are part of what i adore about your art oki. like you have such a wonderful and vivid imagination and the way that you give life to the ideas with your art is breath-taking. even if its a concept i dont think i would enjoy just hearing the idea, when i see your execution i am 100% on board because my gosh you have such a beautiful way of bringing life to things.
and you don't need to apologize for anything btw! it's totally oki to assert boundaries and i really dont speak for anyone other than myself. i just saw a few "dont tag as ship" things and i was like "ahh... oki they prolly wouldnt like me" cuz im an anxious bean and i also dont wanna reveal myself as a gross loser who likes weird ships to one of my fav artists, ya know? so you were 100% just doing the good selfcare thing (which much approval, we stan) and i just got the wrong idea cuz im a nervous weirdo. as for revealing myself i feel a bit embarrassed to do so now after being such a weirdo at you oaeurhgiauehrg but one way or another, your are IS getting reblogged, especially now that i have permission to look at some pieces disrespectfully oiaerhjgohre (not SUPER disrespectfully, just maybe a lil bit of 'they're in love your honor' oki) (a silly random thing but im a bit happy to know you dont hate songxue oijghiouehrg its silly but knowing my favorite 'songxue artist' (not-really-songxue-but-i-totally-see-it) doesnt hate my otp is kinda nice 😊 i thought the irony of it was a bit funny before but i also felt guilty for seeing stuff that your didnt really intend with your art and yeah eoirjgioejrg basically my initial asks were all that struggle so its just kinda nice. its not a very popular ship so its cool when its not disliked, even if its not actively enjoyed. idk if im making sense LOL sorry) ohergiuearhg sorry i feel like i went on a bunch of tangents instead of responding to you properly and i think maybe i have a problem of Talking Too Much so i swear i will really try to keep this one short. i love your art, youre completely valid and wonderful, im doing okay and im really happy you responded to me so kindly despite my strangeness, i think you're neat and you deserve a ton of people showering you with praise cuz damn, you make things great. and i'd like to take a moment to express how you can really influence people with your art: i never even considered wen chao x xue yang before your art and now i think they're a really funny couple, and thats completely bc of how lovely your creations are. please believe in your ability to make people love the things that you love through your beautiful art. be proud of how incredible you are. you make everything a lil brighter just by existing but the fact that you exist and choose to share your beautiful art (and fics, ive read some of them and i Love your writing, its incredible) you make the world a whole lot brighter cuz damn, now i get to look at this stuff and just smile and feel warm inside. so thank you for making my life a lil happier and please be confident in yourself!
okay sorry to put em all together but also i felt it was best so let's begin,

^me
1- you've caused no fuss at all so don't worry about that!! i just wanted to make sure it wasn't a ships in the night situation LOL i wanted to make sure you got my response! :) (I'M GLAD YOU ENJOY THE MEME LOL) as for song lan meanness, that's what i'm saying THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING and YET! this is why i stay out of the tags all the time. there's just too much shit out there in the world and sometimes i fail at just gritting my teeth and letting people say their thang, and it gets me in trouble... but maaaaaaan i really need to say it's a shame you wanna stay anonymous because i think we'd get on like a house on fire! you've summed up exactly how i feel about both of them + how i wish others reacted to them haha (but no pressure to reveal yourself! just know i think we'd get along)
and as for 500 AUs... i'm so glad 😭 i am an AU machine, i have so many i can't keep track and they bring me so much joy, but i admittedly feel sort of alone in making them haha SO THIS MEANS A LOT!! especially you complimenting my execution like i think i may just melt into a puddle and pass away jfghsjh thank you,, so much
2- but seriously, don't worry about the tag thing, it is 100% a boundary thing and the only time i think i'd dislike someone for it is if they saw i said not to tag it as something in the body of the post and did it anyway! 'cause that's just rude (and then i feel despair bc what else can i do to get people NOT to tag LMAO) it's for my own comfort, i'm not trying to dictate what people can or can't ship or feel, it's just i'd rather not hear about it :p especially when it's not what i drew! but also i'm a favorite artist? 😳
you haven't been a weirdo at all! no pressure to go mask off but please don't let anything be because you think i think you're a weirdo or a loser, ok? it's not true! hooray reblogs my NUTRIENCE.. THANK YOU! (but haha this isn't a 'theyre in love' type of piece but the one i personally look at most disrespectfully is when i drew sl straight up eating xy's flesh off his ribs... i know cannibalism isn't for everyone though and neither is gory imagery! just... sharing... oversharing...)
for the aside: no problem! i will say for transparency purposes that my relationship with it IS complicated and that i personally would need it to fit a very uncommon mold (that i do not often see) for me to be like 👍 which is why i tend to stick to my own stuff + what a chosen few friends make when it comes to them in general, but my god you're a rare breed! i've never met anyone who had it as their otp!! you're braver than any US marine because it's such a rarepair it didn't make it into the like top 11 mdzs ships on ao3 or whatever...
3- i love talking though! i really appreciate your messages and i hope this response wasn't a complete jumbled mess ahhh...
thank you so so much for all the lovely praise and encouragement, getting these messages actually helped me break out of my funk a little and do some chores, so know your words do have an impact too! 💕 i need to remember more often that as long as even one person smiles at my work, it will have been worth it. i promise i'm trying ;; sometimes i get caught up in the numbers still and i'm very ashamed of that, but damn, you took time out of your day to let me know that you love and appreciate what i do, and that's honestly made me tear up a little, so THANK YOU AGAIN !! i'm sorry i'm failing at expressing myself and my gratitude properly kgjdklhjkgh (also, thank you for the xuechao support, like THAT's what i call a RAREPAIR! (canned laughter) i really try to spread the joy with those two)
i'm really floundering on how to say thank you well enough so... maybe i can show you some birthday art i made for a friend who also loves xy and sl and xy/chao (which of course now im being nitpicky about but the friend loved it so idc LOL)

Vylet Pony - can opener’s notebook: fish whisperer
(Electropop, Progressive Pop, Synthpop)
Uplifting, heartfelt and absolutely gorgeous, Vylet Pony's latest concept album turns out a beautiful and personal exploration of art block and learning to love yourself and center your world with the things and people that support you most. Though it's a bit overlong, the magic and incredible production across can opener's notebook: fish whisperer's 16 tracks makes for one deeply moving listen.
☆☆☆☆
The concept behind Trixie Lulamoon's latest album is a relatively simple one, but knowing it makes every bit of can opener's notebook: fish whisperer that much more touching. The conceit of the album revolves around the protagonist, Canni, struggling to balance their love of creating music with their work and responsibilities outside of it, spending too much time working and feeling too tired and burnt out to create, furthering them into depression and self-isolation as they try to understand what it is their heart desires most. What this guiding narrative does for her music is give it emotional story beats to work off that still reflect something personal and deeply rooted in Lulamoon's own feelings, can opener's notebook... a sentimental and majestic pop album whose lush instrumentation and optimistic messaging steers away from saccharinity by centering itself around real and genuine feelings of creative anxiety and art block that ensures the album stays grounded and alive within the world Lulamoon has designed for it. With her production sounding as pristine as always and a wonderful balance of hooky pop tunes and atmospheric electronica, can opener's notebook... is a fantastic and heartwarming listen from front to back - even if it does suffer from a few of the same structural issues her albums have had for years now. I'm being 100% serious when I say I don't think there's a better producer in the indie electronic scene right now than Lulamoon, her varied discography and ability to make everything from noisy pop punk to sensitive alt-R&B and elegant electronica sound beautiful and distinct, a skill nobody else out there possesses at this level. It's the reason can opener's notebook... is able to jump from sound to sound without missing a beat, the first five tracks jumping from opener you're not a real musician's moody blend of pop punk and ambient pop to the fast and ferocious ANGELFISH (loser say what?) and drum 'n' bass-infused telephone, the yak song with its stunningly effective combination of electropop, trap, and dance, and finishing off with the seven-minute i've still got something to teach you that gorgeously blends singer/songwriter balladry, urgent electronica, and new age ambiance for a hopeful embrace of creating art without fear of backlash or anger towards it. Just from those five tracks, Lulamoon establishes can opener's notebook...'s dynamic sound and emotional resonance, and is able to take things further with every track that follows: how the vocal chops and four-on-the-floor pulse of there's a pony and sea's selling sea shells bring a nostalgia and intimacy to the second half of the album, or the organic piano and string composition on fish whisperer gives the song a gleeful, dramatic bite as Lulamoon's lyrics detail the comfort and joy in learning to open yourself up to creation and community atop a downtempo waltz ("And declare / To the world / That you were the one / To settle the score") that explodes into massive guitar chords and buzzing synths that near shoegaze territory make sure that can opener's notebook... stays committed to its multi-dimensionality in structure and songwriting. There's never a time listening to the album where you're pulled out of the experience, the fun and good-hearted sound of Lulamoon's music making for one of the year's most honest and vulnerable listens through its willingness to let her heart freely shine. And the album's few weak points are never strong enough to form a rift in can opener's notebook...'s world, the issues more to do with the album's length and unfettered growth rather than issues with the music at large. At 16 tracks and a little over 60 minutes of music, it is a bit of a long listen, and though the majority of the tracks on here are nothing short of fantastic, going through the full album reveals the occasional inconsistencies in energy across the album, the first half of the album stuffed with high-octane pop tunes like the yak song and typewriter while the mellower second half steps on the brakes a bit too hard and leaves the final few tracks of can opener's notebook... much less impactful than the songs that came before it, even when a run of tracks like dream library / time water / mayflower notebook to soundscape diary isn't bad in the slightest. What does help the album get the edge over other length Lulamoon projects is can opener's notebook...'s cohesion, the devotion to a singular mood and higher emotional stakes of the album contributing to a feeling of warmth and preciousness that doesn't ever go away throughout the hour, the heavenly centerpiece the hippogriff festival a four-minute burst of kaleidoscopic synths and shuddering percussion that's even more moving in the album's narrative context as a revelatory point in Canni's artistic struggle and emotional awakenings while surrounding tracks like intertwined and good grief! make sure that there are moments of space and relaxation around the album's most vibrant releases of tension. There's not a moment while listening to can opener's notebook... where Lulamoon's darling production and unrestrained songwriting doesn't work wonders, and the album's introspection and reflective aura makes it one of the most personable and enchanting listens around this year. can opener's notebook... is such an endearing and immediately lovely listen that it can be a bit off-putting on your first listen, the kind of pure and fully genuine expression of passion and adoration for creating art that's a rare find - especially when the songs all sound this good. But letting yourself fall fully and unashamedly in love with her story of self-discovery and the supernatural majesty that comes with it, by understanding that the only thing can opener's notebook... wishes to do is be an honest and undiluted depiction of reverence and treasuring everything the world gives to you, Lulamoon opens the door to one of the most welcoming and authentic albums you can find, asking you to do nothing but fully immerse yourself in Canni's story and take its conclusions with you into your own life. There's a childlike wonder to it all, how the hippogriff festival's wide-eyed veneration of sights and colors or typewriter joyously sings of the power that being resolute and earnest in your emotional expression brings, it's the kind of album I can easily imagine coming back to on a bad day and feel the weight lifted off my chest the moment the first few piano notes of you're not a real musician are played. can opener's notebook: fish whisperer does something few other albums have for me this year: letting my heart align with the music solely off the connection it makes with Lulamoon's, an album where the only thing you need to fall in love with it is to hear what she has to say and let it echo within yourself.

on the debate of ai art
i am a super duper easygoing person to the point where i am the essence of neutrality in nearly all arguments. with the rise of ai art i mostly just listened while others fought against it, but i think id like to share my honest opinion that no one will read but idec
i dont necessarily think ai art generators are bad at all. its fun to use it like if you take a picture of yourself and make it an anime girl, like thats hilarious! me and my friends have messed around using that before and its not bad at all. so i think the thing thats awful about ai art isnt the generator itself, but the user
people will “create” works on ai generators and claim they made it themselves, which is what is wrong in this debate. its similar to what tracing and recoloring is in the art community, its just taking credit for something you didnt make. a quote a moot of mine said once was “everyone wants to be an artist, but no one wants to make the art anymore”. people are doing things to receive praise, clout, money, etc by being the artist, but theyre not going to sit there and make the art. its really sad.
the definition of art on the google dictionary is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power”. i love this definition! art is essentially humans expressing themselves. i think of old renaissance paintings, where old painters expressed their melancholy and religious beliefs, but also in the art i create, where i express my love for my friends/medias i am into by drawing characters for them. in ai art, this sense of soul is lost. people are not creating anymore, theyre taking. and thats what causes ai art to be bad.
on top of that, ive heard that some ai generators are stealing anime arts from online, and i can see this as a problem. in my opinion, this isnt as bad as the soul being taken out of art, but a lot of people are unhappy about this which is very understandable.
i think it all depends on your perspective really and it can be opinionated. i wont judge you in the slightest if you use ai generators sometimes, but if you claim it to be your creation when in fact it shows no sign of simple human expression, please go away. id rather you personally draw the ugliest cat drawing in the world than you “create” the most beautiful ai painting

My significant other and I visited an art gallery last Monday to view the breathtaking pieces of art that were for sale, but since we are still students, all we can do is admire the works of art by snapping pictures of them and giving them compliments. We came across my friend's painting while exploring the area. At the same time, I was amazed and shocked. The only painting that stands out due to its nude subject matter is that one. I was immediately perceive by the thought, "I adore art with a touch of feminism."

How To Dress
by. Jorge Samson
[portrait], 2023. Acrylic on canvas, medium.
When I asked my friend Jorge Samson what his painting was about, he replied, "It's about a mother," adding, "Mothers are very hard workers, and for me, no matter how difficult the problems they encounter, they can still overcome them and remain beautiful." I was speechless and realized that paintings are like poems, they can have different meanings depending on the perspective of the viewer.
I've always been drawn to all forms of art because, in my opinion, it's the most imaginative method to express your innermost thoughts, feelings, and self. This is why I get excited every time I visit a museum or an art gallery. Even though I may be in a room full of imaginative paintings or sculptures that contain only abstract shapes rather than words, I still feel as though there are stories and deep interpretation hiding behind those pieces.
I've recently developed a curiosity for various types of art, such as paintings, and nude art is one such category. I have the impression that my younger self is admired of how honest and objective I am now. Trully, our bodies are stunning and can be portrayed in non-sexual ways.
Here are my thoughts about a nude art painting. They have the power to stir feelings and senses. Nude art can capture the essence of the human body in a way that is both raw and beautiful. The human body is one of the most intricate and exquisite creations in the world. Artists can produce works that are both sensual and spiritual via the use of color, form, and texture, encouraging viewers to feel the whole spectrum of human emotions and sensations. that exploring concerns of power, control, and vulnerability through naked art may be quite effective. Models and artists are similarly can confront and question conventional standards of excellence, attractiveness, and strength by baring their bodies. By doing this, they can also inspire others and themselves to accept their flaws and vulnerabilities and to see the beauty and strength that each of us possesses. The human spirit can also be honored through nude art, which brings us to our final point. It is evidence of our capacity for in-depth, meaningful creation and imagination. It serves as a reminder of how art has the ability to cross barriers and motivate us to be our best selves. It also serves as a call to embrace the complexity and beauty of the human experience in all of its manifestations. The human body is, in fact, the finest representation of the human soul. It is not just about the physical body, but also about a person's soul, spirit, and essence.
"The human body is the most beautiful and complex subject an artist can paint, and the nude is the purest expression of that beauty." - Peter Paul Rubens
