Feels Like Durasteel
The former ARC trooper and his Jedi General grieve together.
Tumblr media
Warnings: Season 2 finale spoilers. Discussion of death and dying. Mostly hurt with a teeny bit of comfort.
--------------------------------------------------
She couldn't breathe. Her knees hit the durasteel floor with a thud. This couldn't be happening.
No. I refuse. Not again.
The all too familiar agony of loss had lain in ambush, readying itself for her journey to consciousness - then it attacked without mercy.
"Where's Tech!?"
"....General"
It grasped at her as she ran from the room, ripping and tearing into her with it's heavy, piercing claws. It's poison burned through her veins as she stumbled up the ramp into the Marauder.
"When have we ever followed orders."
Her mind spun faster and faster, replaying that moment over and over again until it reached such a speed that she couldn't keep up but it continued regardless. It filled her ears, blurred her vision, and constricted her lungs.
I'm a Jedi. I'm a kriffing Jedi! I could've saved him. I could've done something. Anything. Why didn't I?
The weight on her chest was suffocating. She could no longer feel the clench of her teeth nor the cold bite of durasteel beneath her knees.
"General!?"
Footsteps. Muffled sounds of metal against metal; a cold hand providing no relief to burning skin.
She recognized Echo, though he was as hazy as everything else that was slowly closing in around her.
"Look at me! Breathe."
I can't.
I don't want to.
It's too heavy and I don't have the strength.
Everything she'd been through. Everything she'd lost. Everyone she'd lost. It was all too much.
"Come on, General! Breathe with me."
***
A spider spun a beautiful web across a shelf of datapads. She didn't mean to kill it, but it startled her and she crushed it. Her first introduction to death and one of her first lessons as a youngling.
There is no death, only the Force.
Accept it as a natural part of life and let go.
Mourn them do not. Miss them do not.
For the fear of loss is a path to the Dark Side.
Maybe that's why she felt this way. Maybe she wasn't Jedi enough. Maybe it was somehow her fault. Maybe she could've done more. Made different choices. Chosen different words. Maybe she wasn't the leader they made her out to be.
Maybe she was cursed.
Perhaps the Force could tell that she formed attachments too easily - that she loved too deeply, and expressed herself too passionately.
Maybe that was why they were all dead. Because of her.
Maybe she deserved the horror that was to be left alone again. That was why she couldn't breathe. She was alone.
***
"That's it. There you go. Breathe."
She kept her eyes down, not wanting to meet his pitying gaze.
They sat in silence, the only sounds drifted faintly in from the city outside.
She felt her head tip and almost unconsciously lean against the hard plastoid of his shoulder. Neither of them said a word.
"I..." She spoke, voice barely a whisper. She couldn't make the words come. But he knew what she meant.
"I know...."
There were no tears, there hadn't been yet and there probably weren't going to be for awhile. They both knew how this played out - each in their own ways with the common ground of an all consuming numbness.
It was a feeling that made it easier to keep going until one day you couldn't take it anymore. But that day wasn't today. It never was.
It was a process that she had down pact - allowing just a sliver of grief to slip out, tricking her brain into locking away everything else.
"I miss him too."
***
Echo. Fives. Tup. Hardcase. Just a few names - barely a shadow of the sea of troopers she called friend.
Vivian. Rylah. Sari. Pol. Ben. Her creche-mates. Friends. Casualties of war. Brothers and sisters that she grew up with - fought with, ate with, and trained with.
None of them had seen the end of the war.
The Jedi died as battlefield heroes - faces and names to be memorialized forever in stone. The clones died for the sake of a Republic that only saw them as faceless numbers.
The clones were born to die. Why wasn't she? Things would be a lot easier then.
But they were all gone, leaving her alone again in galaxy too big to understand.
***
"It's too much, Echo..." She could barely hear her own voice.
He didn't answer. He didn't have an answer.
Pick up the pieces, dust yourself off. Move on. That's what he'd always told himself. That's what he'd tell himself this time too. Tech would want them to move on, right? To give meaning to his sacrifice?
He probably could - he'd been trained to do so since he popped out of the tube. But no matter the training, he was, at the end of the day, still human.
Was it the same for his General?
Most likely.
Grief had a way of disregarding the chain of command.
***
She didn't know if she would consider Echo a loss. He had come back to her, but the pain she'd felt was real. He was the first real casualty of war that she could name.
Hardcase was the first clone she'd considered her friend. He was kind. He was funny. He had tricked her into luring his Captain into a paint trap. It caught Kix instead and the medbay had never seen so much color - in both paint and language.
On Umbara, his force signature went out with a bang. Loud and explosive, just like him. He wouldn't have had it any other way.
Tup was young. Fresh-faced. He'd barely worn out the shine on his armor. He didn't deserve the way he went out - an unfortunate victim of a political ploy activated too soon. His force signature had always reminded her of the quiet calm before a storm.
She never got to say goodbye to Fives. The strong, handsome ARC trooper went out doing his duty. He died doing what he thought was right. He died trying to save his brothers. His force signature was full of light. Sometimes it flashed, pulsing like the strobe lights of a club. Sometimes it shone strong and bright with a fierce determination.
And then there was Tech...
***
The former ARC trooper and his General sat silently on the cold metal floor of the Marauder - each one slowly drowning beneath the weight of the galaxy.
"Did you know," she began quietly, "that everyone has their very own force signature?"
Echo was silent. He turned to look at her, blinking in a daze as though her voice had dragged him from the depths of an impossible whirlpool. Hearing her voice made it easier to breathe. It kept his head above the water - just barely, but that was all it took to keep from drowning.
The General's lips twitched in a fleeting, sad smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, oblivious to his silent plea.
Please keep talking. I can't take the silence. I don't want to be alone.
"Even clones," she continued. "You all feel so different."
Echo leaned his head against the wall. "Oh yeah?"
She was silent and for a moment, Echo feared that she hadn't heard him. Then she spoke again.
"Tech's force signature felt a bit like durasteel."
Oh.
"What do you mean?" he shifted so that his shoulder rested against her own.
"Always strong, no matter the situation it's put in. Cold, straight edged. Sometimes sharp."
She took a shakey breath and wiped away tears she hadn't even realized she'd been crying. "But durasteel can be worked with. It's reliable. It's adaptable. With time and warmth, it can be shaped into almost any tool or mechanical part. It holds heat well, making the most bitter cold into someplace comforting. It's just...always there. Without it..."
She stuttered to a stop, afraid that if she kept going, she'd start something that she had no power to stop.
Echo felt her shaking, curling into his chest. He didn't know if she'd meant to or not but it didn't matter to him. He shifted, allowing his flesh arm to rest, wrapping around her shoulders.
She took a breath, "Without it....our ship would be in pieces. It wouldn't fly." Her voice cracked. "It wouldn't be a ship at all."
Echo was silent, once again he didn't know what to say. She was right. It did feel like that. It did feel like their squad - their family - had lost too much to continue.
"I know..." He finally said with a gravelly whisper. "I know. I won't say that we'll be ok because I don't think we will be okay for awhile." He took a breath. "But we have eachother. We have the rest of our family. We have our mission." He paused, squeezing her shoulders, "and we have an Empire to make aware that there's gonna be Hell to pay."
I'm not sure if I like this one or not... I haven't written in third person for awhile... Does third person count as x reader if there's no name mentioned? And I'm not trying to beg for attention or anything, but if you liked this, can you leave a comment please? I feel like I'm kinda losing my touch...

The missing-plane drama Manifest has had a hell of a ride. First came the now infamous cancellation by NBC, followed by months of uncertainty over the show’s remaining two seasons and then culminating in a last-minute, 20-episode order from Netflix. The second half of the abbreviated final season will hit the streamer June 2 — right in the middle of the WGA strike that prohibits its prolific writer-showrunner, Jeff Rake, from promoting the series.
Luckily for the show, star Josh Dallas (who plays Flight 828 passenger Ben Stone and will appear at the ATX TV Festival with other castmembers June 1) is picking up the baton. He spoke to THR — while enjoying his time at home in L.A. with his wife, actress Ginnifer Goodwin, and their two young children after five years of production in New York — about Manifest‘s marquee ending and the state of episodic television going forward.
What was your reaction to the plot of the show’s final episode?
I had a deal with Jeff from the very beginning that I didn’t want to know how it was going to end, so when we did the final table read, I was in tears the whole time. It’s twofold, right? It’s bittersweet because we’re saying goodbye to these characters and this world, and also to the TV family we’ve created, the crew and everyone we’ve worked with for the past five years. It was charged. But as far as the ending, Jeff has known how he wanted to end this story since the very beginning.
What kind of emotional resolution did you want for your character?
I wanted him to learn from his experience and be able to do things over again with a new perspective. If there was a sequel after the final scene, I hope he would go forward armed with knowledge and tools to take life as a gift.
So you envision a scenario in which there’s a reboot or sequel? Maybe like a “flash sideways” on Lost?
I think there’s major sequel or spinoff potential here. Maybe we go into the future and see Eden [his character’s daughter] at 21 or so as she’s navigating the world, or we follow the younger passengers. Maybe we go back to 2013 and deep dive into the investigation with [NSA director] Vance.
Tumblr media
If you look at the TV landscape today compared with 2011, when you started on Once Upon a Time, could you have imagined booking another show with 100-plus episodes?
I have been extremely lucky so far when it comes to that. I definitely think that the days of shows running for five or seven seasons are going away, and there are pluses and minuses to that. It’s a great shame that we’re losing the longevity that doesn’t exist in other mediums, to be able to explore the evolution of a character and a story. On the other hand, shorter seasons allow storytelling to be concise and exciting.
Is there anything to be replicated from the process of Manifest being canceled by NBC and picked up by Netflix?
Honestly, I don’t think there’s much you can do beyond trying to make the best thing you possibly can and hope it connects with people. Once Upon a Time and Manifest are similar in terms of their genre-leaning audiences, always the greatest TV watchers because they’re so passionate about their shows. It is a huge part of why we came back. I wish there was a formula. If anyone knows it, please put in the comments below. (Laughs.)
Tumblr media
Do you feel extra pressure to promote the show while Jeff Rake is on strike?
There’s certainly a feeling of responsibility because I want to do right by Jeff and celebrate the show in the way it deserves, but at the same time I want to support Jeff and all our writers in their negotiations and what they’re going through. There’s no pressure, though, only joy and gratefulness when I talk about it. If I mess anything up, we’ll have to call him after the strike.

I've messed it up.
So, yesterday wasn't an easy day for me. I was incredibly low and I felt as though I couldn't talk. I couldn't look at anyone whilst we talked. I felt sick. I felt anxious. I felt cross. Worried. I didn't know how to interact with anyone. Anyone except my manager, Ben.
I wasn't very nice to Daniel, to be honest. I was blunt, taciturn, difficult to talk to. Getting a conversation out of me was like trying to draw blood from a stone. I know he must've found it hard talking to me - his own girlfriend. I came home around 10, and he hardly wanted to talk to me then. I didn't know why... maybe I should've delved deeper...
Well, he opened my message last night and didn't respond. I must admit, I was pretty upset by this. It made me angry. I hate it when people ignore me. Well, 1 minute turned into half an hour right before my eyes - still no Daniel. What did I do wrong? Does he hate me? Is he really going to just ignore me? Surely not... right?
Turning in my sheets, I was desperate to just go to sleep. I wanted to forget about it - maybe he'd message me after I'd gone to sleep. I took another dose of my medication just so it would knock me out and I didn't have to think about how I felt. I didn't want to talk about it, particularly. I didn't want to tell Daniel. I didn't want to tell my other friends. In fact, I didn't want to tell myself.
I finally fell asleep. I decided to message him a short, snappy, half-arsed goodnight text. I didn't bother to wait and he what he'd say in response. Though, I secretly hoped that he'd catch me before I turned off my phone. Of course, that didn't happen.
But he did message me - at some point. I was already asleep when he did. He said that he loves me and that he appreciates me. He also asked me if I was okay. I replied to the message this morning around half 8. I messaged him, saying "I'm fine", to which he asked me if I was sure. I told him I love him and he said it back. I asked him if he was upset. He didn't answer. Now, I'm worrying. I feel sick and dizzy again. I fucked this up. I know I have. My damned moodiness has ruined everything. I have ruined this stupid man's life. And now I've done this, he's totally going to dump my ass.
I'm going to be alone again. Either that, or he's going to stay and punish me for what I've done. That would be a difficult route - the one I probably deserve. Though, I'd understand if he did leave. That would almost be easier. Not at first, because I'd be broken, but I know if he ended it with us, then I know I'd have a plan. If he stayed with me, punishing me for what I did, then... well... I guess I'd have to think about it every day, and have to apologise until the word had no meaning. I'd be forced to look at my feet like a naughty schoolgirl who'd been caught shoving someone's head down a toilet.
I just want the earth to swallow me whole, saving me from the pain I cause myself. The pain I am causing everyone else.
I know everyone is sick of me.
I am sick of me.

Look who just woke up- is that BEN LEVIN ? No, I must have been mistaken that’s ELIAS STONE from HUNGER GAMES (oc: DISTRICT 2). I heard he is 24 and stuck here just like everyone else. Even in the 20’s, they still give off  PASSIONATE, NEVER GIVING UP, LIVING IN FEAR FOR HIS LOVED ONES impression. They’re known to be quite DETERMINED but have a tendency to be JADED on their bad days
Gender/Pronouns
He/Him
How long have they been in Sydney?
To his memory he’s been in Sydney  six months, in his fake memories his whole life.
Job
Fighter at Fight Club, Factory worker at TBD
Which suburb do they live in?
He’s got a super crappy place in the Rocks
Memories of their real life :
If Elias focuses on it long and hard he can make out the barest sense of his mothers laugh, the glint of dark green eyes he believes are his fathers, but that’s all he’s ever known of family.  His parents fell ill and died when he was only five years old, and he didn’t really have any other family to claim him.  So he was reliant on the others of District 1 to take him in, the family he was put in much crueler than the home he would’ve had. He learned to fight for anything he had, it quickly turning into a quick temper and desperation to survive when his foster family beat him.  Finally he couldn’t take it anymore and ran off when he was fourteen, where he lived on the streets of District 2.
Elias just existed to survive, protective of the abandoned corner of the world he made his shelter in and fighting even just to eat every day.  And living like that meant he ended up with nasty injuries from time to time, a bad one being the time he got shivved by one of the other criminals he sometimes ran with.  Stumbling into a clinic he’d heard of and seeing  the most beautiful man he’d ever met when he came in the door.  He said as much to the guy before he passed out on their floor and bled on it, but thankfully Lori didn’t just leave him there.  He and his family nursed Elias back to health, and while Elias didn’t have any money to offer in return, if their home suddenly became completely untouched by any crime in the area, Elias would have claimed it a coincidence.   He went to that house whenever he had an excuse, just to talk to Lori, still thinking he was gorgeous and flirting with him while not actually doing anything beyond that. Elias knew he didn’t have anything to offer besides anger and bitterness at the world, and Lori deserved better.
When the rumbling’s of revolution started Elias was one of the first to join up, ready to fight against a government that hurt so many and didn’t care about the people at all.  And Elias knew he was only good for fighting, so he might as well put that skill to good use.  And that was where he met Ryker, the tall, blonde, image of perfection making him forget anything he’d been about to say when they first met, staring at him for far too long before finally introducing himself.  Ryker and his brother Ajax were both just so good, and noble, and It wasn’t too long before Elias found himself just as head over heels for Ryker as he was for the kind medic Lori.  Elias didn’t have many friends, and these few he did have were plenty, but they all were great and should know each other he decided.  So before much longer had passed he brought Ajax and Ryker to Lori’s home, honestly more than pleased with himself when they all liked each other, happy that the best people he knew had each other now.   The rebellion picked up in full swing soon after, and Elias joined the fighting, finally putting his talents to good use.  However, he saw more death and suffering than he could’ve imagined, and it gave him the painful clarity that life was in fact, short.  And he decided not to waste the time he had, walking straight to that house where he’d first felt safe for the first time and finding Lori and Ryker there together.  He didn’t really even give them a moment to react to him being back before he was speaking, telling them how much he loved them both, and that it was definitely as more than friends.  It was likely the most he’d spoken all at once ever, but once he stopped he stood there panicking a moment.  Not even thinking they might reject him until he’d said it all and realized he could’ve ruined the friendship.  His fears were unfounded though, Lori and Ryker both expressing the same sentiments for Elias and each other, and for a while everything was near perfect.  They were fighting for a better world, and taking care of each other, and everything felt hopeful.   That is until the rebellion was crushed, and the Capitol announced the tributes and the Games.
Out of all of the people in their District, somehow Ryker was the chosen male tribute, and never had Elias fought harder than to stop them from taking him away.  He failed, left in a broken mess in the street for Lori to have to patch up, but as soon as he saw the heartbreak that he was feeling reflected back at him in Lori’s eyes he knew he had to get Ryker back.  Elias promised Lori he’d bring Ryker back to him, and to be ready for them when they came home, and gave him a kiss goodbye before slipping off to rescue Ryker from the Capitol.  He didn’t have any idea that’d be the last time he’d kiss the man he loved, just as he had no idea he wouldn’t ever see Ryker again after those moments.  Elias made it to the arena itself, close enough to hear the fighting before he was caught by the Capitol’s guards.   They assumed he must be a part of one last shred of the rebellion, and tortured him for days trying to find out where the rest of his team was.  But all Elias did was scream his rage at his captors, fighting every last second until they finally went too far and he died in agony, never saying a word.
What was their fake life like?

Bird Set Free | Ben Florian x Male Reader
Tumblr media
Fandom: Descendants Pairing: Ben Florian x Male Reader Summary: A jealous Audrey comes after Ben’s boyfriend.
A/N: Another co write with my amazingly talented friend @inhumanshadows. If you haven’t checked them out what are you waiting for!? …
Ben had caught your eye the moment you stepped out of the limbo from the isle.
You were one of the first vk's to arrive in Auradon.
At the time Ben was dating Audrey so you didn't think you had any chance.
That changed after the big turney game when he asked you privately if you wanted to go on a date with him.
That shocked you first off because he was a prince/future king and you were a villain kid.
Secondly you were a guy. You hadn't expected Ben to be into guys.
You said yes of course. Who wouldn't want to go on a date with Ben.
The date went great and you enjoyed it.
During the whole coronation debacle, you helped Mal and them stop Maleficent.
Once everyone was unfrozen, Ben pulled you into a kiss in front of everyone.
That was a surprise to everyone, but who was going to challenge the king and his boyfriend who just stopped maleficent? No one that's who.
While Adam was shocked he wasn't disappointed and Belle was really supportive of you two.
Ben's parents were your biggest supporters. "Love is love."
While the kingdom had accepted you two relatively easy, one person did not. Audrey.
You had a feeling Audrey wouldn’t like it.
But you figured she wouldn’t be too mad for long.
At least that’s how it seemed. Especially when she left school for a little “wellness retreat.”
Then the mess with Uma happened.
You knew she spelled Ben and that any actions he made weren’t consciously his own.
The entire cotillion was...intense.
You didn't let Uma use Ben any more than she had.
You quickly pulled Ben in for a kiss and pressed your lips to his.
There was a spark and energy there that you felt every time you kissed.
Pulling back, Ben smiled at you and you could tell it had worked. He wasn't spelled anymore.
Uma and Mal then got into a fight over her spell book.
After everything settled down the two of you enjoyed the rest of your night.
However there was still a part of you that was hurt seeing Ben with someone else even if it wasn't his doing.
Luckily, Ben quickly made sure that YOU were the one for him.
That led to him proposing to you with a promise ring a week later.
...
You said yes to that right away. No way were you letting that pass by you.
Of course, Audrey wasn't happy with that. But who cares, what could she do?
-You didn’t care. You were engaged and had much more pressing matters to attend to.
-Now the whole kingdom was just in your face about really anything and everything.
“when’s the wedding?!”
“How are you adjusting to life as the prince’s boyfriend??”
It was that constantly and it gets old quickly.
So you just focused on Ben and your friends.
Evie insisted on designing yours and Ben’s wedding outfits.
“I mean I won’t tell you no Evie.”
You had to remind everyone that it was only a promise ring and not an actual engagement ring. No one seemed to care.
Honestly with you two, it really was more of an engagement ring.
But that was for another day. Today was Jane's birthday.
Ben had some last minute work to finish so you went ahead of him.
"(M/N)! It's good to see you."
"Ben's on his way. He just had to finish something first. He's sorry for being late."
She waved you off. "No worries."
Then someone you hadn't expected showed up.
Audrey.
She was dressed differently and had maleficent staff.
That wasn't good.
Audrey laid her eyes on you and a wicked smile came over her face.
That REALLY wasn't good.
"Jane, go. Run!"
Jane nods and hightails it out of there.
Audrey starts to sing “Happy birthday” as waves of green smoke wash over the party area, all the guests falling into a cursed sleep.
You brace for an inevitable sleep... but it never comes.
Audrey stands before you, smile on her face.
“A sleeping curse is too good and too easy for you. I have other plans.”
She bangs the bottom of the staff on the ground and you’re surrounded by smoke.
Magic flows over you and when it clears... everything is bigger.
“Well aren’t you a pretty bird...” Audrey says before vanishing.
You run to the edge of the lake and see that she turned you into a raven.
A raven. Of course she turned you into a raven, just like diaval.
Your first instinct is to panic. You're currently a bird when just five seconds ago you were human.
After calming down a bit you realize the next best thing to do is go after Ben.
Ben! If this is what Audrey did to you what would she have done to Ben!?
Without another thought you flap your new wings and try your best to fly.
It's not pretty at first but you figure it out and soon are flying to your future husband.
When you do reach Ben...it's not fun.
Audrey had changed him as well, but instead of a bird he was a beast. Just like his dad.
When you tried talking with him you hoped he would be like how his dad was as a beast...or at least as you had been told.
You figured you'd get to talk with him and figure out a way to stop Audrey.
Ben tried to eat you.
Apparently Audrey's curse made Ben an actual full beast and not just looking like one.
There was only one thing left to do...find help!
Finding help wasn't easy. Everyone was either asleep or turned to stone!
Fairy godmother? Stone. Belle and Adam? Asleep.
Luckily you found Mal and them, along with Uma, Gil and Harry.
Unluckily, they just thought you were a raven.
Harry kept shooing you and threatening to hit you with the hook.
Gil wanted to pet you. So that wasn’t too bad.
And the others either thought you were gross or just a dumb bird.
Gil proves to have the braincell for the group when he suggested giving whatever made Dude the dog talk to you.
Mal did it to “make the conversation change”
"Finally! I've been trying to get your attention forever!"
They all go wide eyed when you're voice comes out of the bird.
"Yes it's me. (M/N). Audrey turned me into a raven and I went to find Ben but she changed him into a beast! You gotta help me save Ben!"
Of course, even though you were a bird, Ben is a king, your boyfriend and a beast right now. You were helping him first.
"Oh and Gil...can you scratch my head again?"
What? It felt good.
Then Jay, Harry, Gil and Carlos went with you to find your boyfriend.
You guys find beast ben and slowly try to get his attention.
He turns and stalks towards you all.
He looks as if he’s about to pounce when Jane pops out of the trees and sprays him with water.
Ben roars and stumbles back rubbing his face. He drops his hands and looks relatively normal.
“What did you hit him with, Jane?” Jay asks.
“Enchanted lake water. Breaks most enchantments. Figured it couldn't hurt.”
You let out a breath you hadn't realized you were holding.
"Oh thank gods. I was so worried babe."
Ben froze in place as he saw you talking.
"(M/N)?"
You flew over and landed on his shoulder.
"Hey Ben. Audrey got to me first. Thanks for not eating me earlier."
 Ben would then pet you.
"I'm glad I didn't. That would be awkward...now how do we change you back? Jane?"
"I kind of used the last of the water."
You look Ben up and down and he smiles at you.
“Gotta say Ben, I like the fangs and beard. Could be cleaner but...”
“Oh really?” Ben asks.
That when Harry whistles. “Sorry to break up that tender moment... but we have an angry Audrey to pursue...”
"Right! We'll have to figure something out later. I promise! I'll make sure to get you back" Ben said.
You knew he would. Ben always did.
Returning to Evie's cottage, Uma seemed to be leaving in a mood.
Doug who had been asleep was now awake.
"Wait? How is he awake?"
"True love’s kiss."
You looked at Ben who looked back at you.
"Why didn't we think of that?!" you said.
Ben rubbed the back of his head with a nervous look.
"Sorry."
“it’s alright. Lots happening. We’ll try later. First we deal with Audrey!”
Cue Audrey sealing you all in the cottage.
Then mal and Uma break you guys out with some awesome cooperative magic.
You: “Aww you guys are friends again!”
Mal: “I’ll pluck your feathers...”
“Alright! Geez...”
Then everything with Mal came out.
It made your heart break. Ben,Your boyfriend, your future husband, made a decision with Mal to not bring over any more VK's.
You couldn't believe it. You didn't want to accept it.
"So...you didn't even want to talk to me about this?" You said to him.
"I'm a VK Ben! You're wanting to stop any one else from getting the chance that I did? That's so wrong!"
Now you really wish you had gotten that kiss earlier...cause this love didn't feel true anymore.
Uma, Harry and Gil left...and so did you.
"I need to think."
"(M/N) wait!"
Did you leave on Gil’s shoulder, slumped against him? Yes yes you did.
It was all very confusing and pretty shocking.
While you understood where they were coming from... it... it just hurt.
You all were back at the cottage, checking up on Dizzy and the twins.
You were glad they weren’t awake to hear about all that. They had enough on their plates.
“So what do we do now?” You ask, walking on a table, everyone seated around it.
Uma: “Nothing. Let Mal and Ben figure it out... they don’t deserve our help after that stunt.”
"I can't just sit by Uma. I'm mad...but not let Audrey go kind of mad. If anything I want just a bit of revenge."
Uma smirked at that.
"Good to know there's still a VK in there."
You extended your wings and fake bowed.
Eventually you all began heading back to the isle before Mal stopped you begging you all to help her.
"They were turned to stone. (M/N),Ben was turned to stone."
It didn't matter how hurt you were, you still loved Ben.
Without hesitation you hopped off Gil's shoulder and began flying back.
Arriving back at the cottage you saw them, Evie, Dude,Carlos, Jay and Ben...all statues.
You landed on Ben's out stretched stone arm.
"Oh Ben...What do I do?"
You sat there perched on Ben's arm, looking at his frozen face.
You regretted that the last thing you two did was fight.
Hopefully this would be fixed soon and you can apologize.
As if your wishes were answered. Ben and the rest were unfrozen and the people began waking up.
"Ben! Oh gods you're back! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry about how I left."
"(M/N). No I'm sorry. I should have asked you. I'm sorry I didn't."
With that Ben lifted his arm with you on it up and kissed your head.
In an instant you felt yourself changing and growing and soon you were back to being human.
You smiled and pulled Ben into a tight up.
"Forget waiting. Ben, I have no idea what's going to happen but I know I want to be with you. Let's get married."
He didn't disagree and your promise ring was now that engagement ring.
After making sure everyone was alright after everything that transpired you, Ben and Mal got to talking and came to a unanimous decision.
You all agreed it was time to take the barrier down and stop making the children of villains pay for their parents misdeeds.
You worked with the other VKs to make the process as fair and efficient as possible.
Ben pulled you away for a minute to hug you.
“I know we’re still working on the rest of the VKs but I was thinking we could meet with Evie to talk about wedding stuff?”
“of course... we have a lot to plan... together.”
Evie was excited when you told her.
Ben and you also enjoyed the planning, especially the cake.
Your wedding was going to be amazing.

A Family Affair | Euro 2020 Football Fanfiction
Life is beautiful and life is cruel. A window into the souls of the victorious and the vanquished. In a way, football did come home during the summer of 2021. Follow along Amelia’s journey, navigating the football world as a tactical analyst for the italian football team, with a brother and father part of the three lions. Maybe she can have both...

It was the day after the final match and Amelia should be nursing a hangover due to the large amount of red wine she consumed with her Italian counterparts the night before. However, she finds herself at St. George’s Park before 9am, meeting one of her father’s colleagues who directs her to the recreation room that she remembers from a few days prior.
Standing outside the door, she assumed she was just waiting for her dad as agreed on the phone an hour earlier. As she was waiting, she could hear Gareth Southgate give a team talk to the players, praising them for their ability and pleading for them to bounce back from this defeat and use it to push on. The next voice she could hear was that of her father, giving them the tactical run through of the game. She listened to the points her father made, and both agreed and disagreed with some. Unexpectedly, the man sent to collect her opened the door and ushered her inside.
She stood at the back of the room, facing her dad and Gareth, whilst the team and other management staff had their backs to her. Making eye contact with her dad, he smiled slightly.
“Whilst I can offer you my opinion on the match last night, to better prepare you for the next time, there is no better opinion to learn from at this moment than that of your opponent. Amelia, would you please come up here” Dean really threw her into this situation, that again, she was not prepared for nor did she want to participate in. However, the 30+ sets of eyes that had currently turned around to stare at her didn’t exactly inspire a choice to be made here.
_____________________________________________________________
“Lads, this is my daughter. I taught her everything she knows, which was probably too much considering I can now recognise that it was her signature plays that the italian side used to their advantage last night. Treat her with respect, or I will let her at you. Which i’m sure you all saw a few nights ago in this very room” My dad spoke as I walked up to the front area, weaving in and around beanbags with players occupying them.
Standing in front of the Three Lions was more nerve wracking now than it had been when she was confronting her brother, maybe Fede did offer her protection as his bodyguard. Either way, she put her big girl pants on (figuratively speaking, literally she was wearing her official puma tights and Italian polo) and got on with it as if she was speaking to her team.
“Thanks Dad. Hey guys, I think the first thing I would like to say is that you’re allowed to feel exactly how you feel right now. There is no rush to ‘get over it’ or ‘push on and learn’. You need to feel this now, feel it throughout your body, understand the pain and then turn it into motivation.” I speak to the group, trying to accurately express how sincere I am to this group of heartbroken men.
“As for tactics, I can stand here and praise you for how good you really are but that's not how you are going to learn. You came into the game hard and fast.” I paused, understanding the innuendo just as it was flying out of my mouth. I pursed my lips and tried to hold my giggle in, however some of the boys seem to have the same sense of humour as I do. My brother, face of steel and eyes that burn into any man that tries to joke with me.
“Sorry, can’t help myself. So yeah, you took charge of the game from kick off and we were not ready. You had the aggression and desire to push from the start and that's what you did, Shaw, you really surprised me with that goal. Not because I didn't think you could do it but because I wasn’t anticipating you being someone we had to watch so closely.”
“Again, something you guys need to keep in mind is that it is literally my job to know everything about you and how you play the game, what foot you prefer, who you pass to, how long you hold the ball before you pass, do you like to assist or score...all of these things make a massive difference in each play we make.”
“The error you made came around the 25th minute of the game, we had settled into the game and did what we do best - we slowed you down. In Italy, in the Serie A, which is where most of my team play, the game is a lot slower. There is more skill and tactic used to ensure a favourable outcome. Again, i'm not saying you all don’t have skill, but the Prem favours pace over tactics and strategy. The only way we were going to be able to win was by making you play our game, but in your half of the pitch.”
At this point, all of their eyes are trained to me and the more senior players of the team, like Henderson, Walker, Coady, Kane, they understand what i’m trying to say. Gareth, my dad and other members of staff are sitting to one side, arms folded and a slight smile on their face at the simplicity of my approach to such an important game. I direct my next question to them.
“Can I ask - have you already selected your man of the match?”
“Off record, yes we have. Before I announce to the team who it is, can I direct the question back to you and find out who you would award it to?” Gareth poses back to me, interested to hear my opinion.
“While the obvious choices would be Kane, Sterling, Maguire - your players who perform week in week out and are consistent and no doubt deserve an award as such. I would recommend Declan Rice. Personally, he was the most instrumental in the match last night. Every time we turned to attack, he was there to stop it. He was a player I was confident that I knew the extent of his ability, when it was obvious that I didn't.”
The boys around him, Mason Mount & Ben Chilwell, offered him a gentle shove and ruffle of the hair, to show their encouragement to the bashful boy who seemed surprised at the praise he was receiving.
“The other player that I think deserves a bit of a shoutout, and not because of his hair, is Jack Grealish.” I spoke, looking around the room until we locked eyes. I wanted him to understand how serious i was about my next words.
“You are so dangerous on the ball, you are an asset as a team mate, you aren’t guilty with the ball, but you have the power behind you to score when the opportunity presents itself. The moment you were subbed on I pulled Jorginho to the side and told him to treat you like Chiellini and Bonnucci were handling Sterling and Kane. You were one of my players to watch, and for good reason”
At the end of the little session, I said thanks to the boys for listening and that I hope to see them again in a tournament. The only way to be the best is to beat the best. After a quick round of applause that made me feel more special than I am, I walked past my brother, gave him a quick ruffle of his hair and met my dad at the back. Gareth dismissed the boys and they all stood up, breaking away and grabbing some breakfast that was set up to the side of the room, for one last team meal.
“Mills!! I’ll get you an almond croissant and a coffee, come sit with me!” Walker shouted from across the room.
“Oi mate, she’s my sister not yours” Ben counters from the back of the line.
“Yeah she's your sister by blood, mine by choice.” Kyle firmly states and begins his way to one of the tables.
“I suppose i better join Kyle before he drowns everyone in his tears” i joked with the england officials i was standing with before walking over to Kyle and a few of his team mates.
“Sooo am I supposed to pretend I don’t know who you all are so you can introduce yourselves? Or do we just mutually agree that I know too much about each of you and not bring it up?” I question the boys, jokingly. They all laugh and I sit down in the space Kyle left between himself and John Stones. I sat there and got to know some of the boys on a less competitive level, working out who was a leader both on the pitch and off it. After listening to the boys joke around and just be mates, rather than teammates, I leaned over to Kyle.
“Hey, before I go, do you think you can introduce me to Bukayo? I want to speak with him for a moment.”
“Yeah sure, I'll take you over there. Why are you nervous? You've never been shy before” Kyle questioned back at me.
“I’m not nervous, I'm just hyper aware of the sensitivity of the moment. Last night would have been tough”
Saying goodbye to the boys, Kyle directed me over to a table that was sitting my brother Ben White, Kalvin, Ben Chilwell, Grealish, Saka, Sancho & Rashford.
“Hey boys, Ben, I just wanted to come say goodbye before I head off.” I directed towards my brother. He pulled up a chair and asked me to sit for 5 more minutes, claiming he deserved it after months of no contact.
“Ben here didn’t let us know he had a sister as smart as you...what happened to you Ben? Did you miss that gene?” Jack Grealish poked at my brother. With his signature scowl on his face, Ben White let his mates laugh at his expense.
“Oh don’t make fun of my brother Benny, that’s my job!” I joked back, setting the boys off again with my brother’s childhood nickname. It was nice to hear some laughter again from a side that looked so solemn the night before.
“No in all seriousness boys, I especially came over because I wanted to talk to you Bukayo - what you did was so impressive. In a final, as the last penalty taker, to take on the responsibility of the nation at the age of 19! Not many players would dare to do that. You have earned a lot of respect, particularly from the Italian camp.” I spoke with a smile on my face, directed at the young boy.
“The same goes for you two” Now looking at Sancho & Rashford.
Bukayo looked down at his hands & smiled, before getting up and walking to my side of the table. Anticipating what he was going to do next, I stood up and welcomed him with open arms. Grateful that he understood my message and was beginning to accept the praise he so deserved. Stepping back from the hug, I turned to address the group of lads one more time.
“If any of you fancy a change of pace and want to come over to the Serie A, just give me a call - Benny can give you my number!” I start to speak, before I'm cut off but my brother.
“Stop poaching my mates! I’ve already lost you to another country. I don't need to lose anyone else” He jokingly says while standing to walk me out of St. George’s Park. I know it was a joke but I can't help but think there was some truth to that.
It had been more than 3 years since I moved out of our family home to start my life in Turin, and not one moment had i regretted it or thought i made the wrong decision. Don’t get me wrong, there are times when I wished I was closer to my family, but I know I had to make that move to prove to myself I am just as successful as I hoped I would be. Not saying I have learnt everything there is to learn with the Serie A giants, Juventus, but maybe it's time for a new challenge? Maybe I can bring the strategic spin on the game to the fast paced action of the premier league?

Have you ever thought about why larries are so invested in their theories? They are the epitome of confirmation bias. every information that might burst their bubble-they deny it or blame it on "evil management". then they come with "sky is blue. grasses are green. world is larry"
i think it's because it makes them feel special. They are under the impression that they know and understand something secret which no one else understands. a cult mentality.
also, larry helps them to justify harry's shit. they don't want to face the reality that harry is not the person he was 10 years ago. or he was never the person they believe he was. so, making him a victim is a easy solution to live in their fairy land.
what disgusts me is- they insist with their life that "if larry is not real. then louis is a shit dad". they claim, he never had a paternity test and never interacts with his son (as if he owes them to post paternity test report and facetime video with his son on social media). the very same people believe louis and harry has a secret shared house where they live together and goes back after every stunt. i mean how can people be this blind?
(This ask was received on August 23, I am so sorry for replying a month later...)
I find it WILD that the people who think that Harry and Louis are "communicating with them" and "signaling" at every opportunity, people who can come up with elaborate theories about what a t-shirt must mean are actually blind when it comes to looking at Harry and Louis' situations, careers trajectory and actions - hell, even at their lyrics. If you look at THE FACTS and get out of your headcanon for a second, it becomes uneasy to think that 2021 Larry is a love story for the books...
Let's start with the "visible": Harry and Louis have not been seen together FOR YEARS. Larries are stuck in 2012/2015. Yeah, I've seen the footage from that time. Yeah, they looked like idiots in love most of the time. Now.. that was... 6 years ago. THAT WAS 6 (SIX) YEARS AGO.
And if you look "behind the scenes"... it's worse.
There is NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING that links Louis and Harry post HS1. Fine Line was made to be a hit album, it was heavily promoted in all GP outlets (Rolling Stones, Tiny Desk, BBC, later the Vogue cover). When Love on Tour couldn't happen, WS was pushed down everyone's throat to be become the hit of the summer. Meanwhile Walls promo was barely existent, so was the livestream's and festival's. What else? Let me see... Harry is selling 100$ stay-at-home COVID t-shirts while Louis is donating millions from his livestream to charity. Harry is dripping in ugly as fuck Gucci suits and Louis shows up with a 30£ t-shirt to his concert. Harry leaves fans in the dark about his tour situation while Louis has monthly check-in tweets with fans. Harry forgets to thank his fans in his Grammy speech, while Louis is telling fans that they don't need to buy merch and "support is more than enough". Harry is papped with Olivia on a yacht and at the stadium for the Euro while Louis is watching the matches with his friends in a public pub. I mean, Harry works with fucking Ben Winston while Louis has Charlie Lightening.
So... how do we explain this? Harry isn't doing any of these things voluntarily? It's 'evil management's' fault? He goes home to Louis and cries because he can't be who he "really" is and apologizes for being this famous and successful? He doesn't want that?
If Harry is so in love with Louis and seeing as he's Sony's golden star, why isn't he working extra hard for Louis to have the solo career he deserves? Wouldn't you want your partner to succeed professionally? To be happy?
And why would Louis, seeing Harry becoming the new cultural juggernaut, just sit down in the basement where Harry keeps him and swallow this extremely unequal situation? Doesn't Louis have any ounce of self-esteem? He's made it pretty clear that he wants a solo career. Wouldn't he be hurt by seeing Harry get to where he can't go? When Louis' career is actually being restrained ?
If H&L are so ~in love~ why don't they retire from the industry, buy a tropical island and live there together with their 14 children? Isn't there a point where the pressure from the industry, the stunting, etc. is too much and you decide to save your relationship with the man of your life and just give it all up? Why are they enduring this terrible situation still?
This just proves that larries are actually in love with the idea of this "epic love story" and of knowing about it - as you said anon, about being in "in a secret" and having more information than others. Of knowing "the truth"....
They victimize Harry to let him off the hook for his shitty behavior. They dehumanize Louis and in doing so, actively contribute to the sabotage of his career - by painting him as the man in the shadow, the supportive boyfriend, the man who has no interest in a solo musical career - which is all far from the truth.
I don't think larries understand the weight that their "fandom" has on the boys themselves and on their careers. From Harry having to cater to them by larrybaiting and to the "hetties" (het harries) from a PR and monetary perspective to the effect it has on Louis' personal life - on which they prefer to focus instead of talking (or liking!) his music.
If they don't like Louis if Louis is not 1/2 of Larry, then PERFECT!!! Leave my man alone!!! GTFO!!!

Interlude - POYW Rewrite Mini-series - Part 4 - Pickup
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
=
-two months after D2, just for context (August 2016)-
The isle masses waited in uneasy silence as they waited for the tell-tale sign of the barrier opening to let in the limo that would take the new six vks to Auradon, would King Ben keep his promise?
CJ gripped tightly onto Harriet's jacket, other hand clenched tightly around her bag as she stared anxiously at the barrier, waiting for her brother to come get her and Harriet off the isle like he promised to.
Harriet's crew stood protectively around the six vks, daring anyone to try to ruin their day. Dizzy grinned and looked back at her aunt and mother as the barrier shimmered, a black limo rolling closer into view as it passed through.
The car stopped a good ten feet in front of the vks and almost immediately Evie popped out from the back, eagerly calling Dizzy’s name as the younger vk squealed and bolted towards Evie. Dizzy slammed into Evie and the older teen held onto her tightly as they started to babble random things to each other. Jay, Gil, and Ben climbed out of the back with smiles and Ben gestured towards the trunk for the vks to put their bags into it.
CJ grinned as Harry climbed out from the passenger side in the front, her eyes blowing wide as you climbed out of the driver's seat. “Harry!” CJ yelled, laughing as Harry picked her up just as she was about to slam into him and spun her around. You and Harriet nodded at each other and Harriet moved towards the back to put her bags away, Mr. Smee stepping forward with his three sons and reassuring his youngest that they would be safe with his brother and pseudo siblings in Auradon.
Sammy shared a smile with Harry as he passed by him to put his and his brother's bags in the trunk, shifting his shoulder bag a bit as the twins continued to cling to their father.
Harry shared a look with Harriet and pushed CJ to get her bags into the trunk, moving towards the twins and kneeling in front of them. After a few soft-spoken words, the twins released Smee's arms and moved to clutch onto Harry, the older vk squeezing their hands and nodding at his pseudo uncle before moving the twins towards the Limo.
The twins stared up at you as Harry moved them past you, Skipper hiding his face in Harry’s leg as you gave a soft smile. You and Harry shared a look that only communicated ‘oh my fuckinggodthatssocute’ the twins were shuffled into the limo and all that was left to do was for Harriet to leave her last few commands to her crew and then the lot of you to get back in the limo and leave for Auradon.
Jay and Gil checked to make sure all the luggage was in the trunk before closing it and standing near the back doors, everyone was ready to leave.
Harriet walked towards her crew and gave a few words to Xiaohui, who was now appointed captain in Harriet's stead. The girl nodded and saluted Harriet, the rest of the crew following in suit.
Harriet let a smile break across her face and nodded back, she turned on her heel and walked back towards the limo, sliding into the back and sitting next to the twins.
You stopped Harry from getting into the front passenger seat and nodded towards the back “sit with the twins, I think they’ll be more comfortable with you, Harriet, and CJ all together with them.” Harry nodded and moved to the back to join his sisters and the twins. You stopped as Dizzy popped out of the limo and raced back towards the crowd, slamming into a smaller black girl with curly red Ombre hair, you spotted the man behind her and quickly deduced that she was the daughter of Dr.Facilier. Dizzy gave the girl a tight hug and said a few words before running back to the limo, you laughed to yourself a bit as the girl's face crumbled in embarrassment and turn to hide her face in her dad's side, Facilier laughing at his daughter and patting her back.
You slid into the driver's seat and called into the back “everyone ready?!” once everyone called back with either a “yes” or “uhuh!” you buckled your seat belt and started to drive out of the isle, smiling at the reflection of the isle people as they waved the villain kids goodbye.
The Smee twins pressed themselves against the glass as they watched the isle roll by them, their father getting further and further from sight. Harriet pushed them back into their seats, nodding towards the bridge you were driving at.
“Ready?” Harry asked, smiling as the twins gave a nervous nod and clinging to him and Harriet. Dizzy squealed and pressed her face to the window, Evie turning with her and biting her smiling lips as the limo passed through the barrier.
“oh, my, goooshh~!!!!!” Dizzy squealed again, giggling to herself as the magic bridge built itself and the limo coasted over the ocean. “it's happening, it's really happening~!!”
“it is” Evie sighed happily, laughing as Dizzy launched herself into Evie's arms for a hug “when we get there, you have to try ice cream” Dizzy pulled back with a wide grin.
“and go swimming!?”
Evie looked off to the side for a moment trying to think of a place before it came to her “I can take you to the enchanted lake!” the two girls squealed, making Harriet and the twins cover their ears for a moment before the two stopped.
Harry leaned forward and grabbed two peanut butter cups and handed them to the twins, Skipper staring at him unsure before Harry smiled at him “go on, yer not allergic ta chocolate or peanut so yer fine” the twins took a careful bite before they turned wide-eyed to Harriet, who chuckled and held her hand out as Harry handed her another cup. CJ attempted to climb out of her seat to get herself one but was stopped by her older siblings as they gave her a look and Harry handed her the candy. The twins downed the candy, dancing in their seats as they tasted it for the first time.
“so where’s Mal?” Dizzy asked, eagerly taking the small red twist candy Evie had handed her.
“she's taking mind medicine right now” Jay laughed, falling onto Gil slightly as Ben shoved him with a smile.
“she's at therapy, not something she's really allowed to miss, well she can but we didn’t really need her to come today so she just decided to go.” Dizzy nodded and turned back to Evie, the two girls delving into babbles of fashion, science, and ice cream.
“Mal….at therapy” Harriet stared off into space for a moment before she laughed “that’s a sentence or thing that I ever thought would happen” Harry heard you snort very loudly from the front and let out a loud giggle.
“aye, but she finally bit the bullet an’ accepted she’s fucked in the head an’ let us chuck ‘er in the office an’ the rest of us fukin’ bolted” Ben slapped his hand over his mouth and turned into his shoulder, closing his eyes and letting out a few muffled bits of laughter.
After a few moments of the limo laughing, it was silent, only to be broken by Gil “actually I think all of us need therapy considering the shit we’ve all gone through” the limo erupted into laughter, Ben almost slipping out of his seat as he held his chest.
The twins ignored them and continued to eat their candy, Sammy wiped away a tear and shook his head as he grabbed a handful of small multicolored candies “ahhhh yeah we’re all fucked up”
“I think the only non-fucked up person in this limo is Ben and (y/n)-“ Sammy was stopped by a small snort from Gil, Ben, Harry, and Harriet who looked at each other with wide teary eyes of stopped laugher “what?”
“sam-Sammy you were there remember?” Harriet chuckled, nodding towards the front of the limo where you were “the uh…incident?” Sammy's cheeks turned pink at the reminder.
“Ohh….okay yeah the only non-fucked up person in the limo is Ben” Ben pursed his lips and gave a slight shrug “oh come on what happened to you for you to be fucked up in the head?!”
Ben shrugged again “my parents pushed all their responsibility onto me when I was barely 16 and they never seem to trust me with anything even after they seemingly trusted me with an entire kingdom and judge me for everything that has to do with anything and my ex-girlfriend love spelled me for the wand and only just told me that last week~!” Ben gave a wide grin, while everyone else in the car stared at him with wide eyes.
“okay holy shit you win” Sammy stuttered and Harriet chuckled, Sammy sighing in relief as the car delved into laughter again. Jay let out a small sigh, leaning back in his seat and resting against Gil's shoulder slightly, he remembered the day, which was only last week,  when Mal had finally bit the bullet, and told Ben the real reason she had love spelled Ben, not because she had a crush on him, but because he was a stepping stone for the wand.
And he took it…surprisingly well, Carlos, Evie, and Jay had been there in moral support of both Ben and Mal and to apologize to Ben formally for helping Mal deceive him all those months ago.
It was a surprise to them but a “normal” reaction for Ben when he had just smiled, accepted their apology, and opened his arms for a hug. the four vks immediately went in for it, happy they didn’t lose the friend that made them realize they deserved love and safety.
The four vks still worked on being supportive of Ben and learning how to be better friends in an attempt to still make up for their wrongdoings to him, while Ben said it wasn’t necessary, the four still did so.
The only time they weren’t supportive was when Harry, Gil, or Jay (and sometimes Mal) dared Ben to do something that would probably kill him…like riding a skateboard off a roof into the deep end of a pool.
Jay blinked back into the present time and smiled as the Smee twins twisted around in their seats and gasped as Auradon’s shore came closer and closer, the golden bridge behind the limo de-materializing as it rolled onto Auradon soil.
“Welcome to Auradon” Ben hummed, smiling as the new vks gasped at the bright colors and the signs of life surrounding them, Harriet's eyes being locked onto the white and orange flowers the limo rolled by.
“it'll be another hour before we get back to the welcome area, so” you waved your hand in the view of the divider window “just figure out how to entertain yourselves” the limo chuckled a bit and delved into quiet conversation, the younger vks going back to the candy, with Harry and Evie keeping a close eye on them to make sure they didn’t eat too much.
-
The limo rolled to a stop in front of Auradon prep, the welcome party waving their flags and the band going crazy as the vks inside stared with wide eyes.
“it's not as crazy as last time, believe me” Harry chuckled, unbuckling his seat belt and moving towards the doors “there was like double the people and even louder music” Ben gave a sheepish smile at that, he might have gone a bit overboard with the original welcome party for the vks.
Harry stepped out first, holding the door open as Harriet and CJ climbed out after him. You joined Harry at his side after turning off the limo and wrapped your arm around his waist, grinning as CJ bounced over to your side and looked around wildly in excitement.
Gil and Jay helped the twins out of the car then went to get all the bags out of the trunk as two chauffeurs came to help, the twins clinging onto Harriet as they stared wide-eyed at the welcome crowd. Dizzy bounced on her heels as she grinned so wide it almost seemed that her cheeks were going to rip.
Ben stepped in front of the welcome crowd, waiting until the music stopped before flinging his arms wide open “welcome to Auradon! First things first, I want to say I wish to apologize for taking so long to get you here, but a formal apology can wait till later cuz I think we are all restless and just want to get moving, so on with the tour! The chauffeurs will take your bags to your rooms and you’ll have the next week to do whatever you want because school doesn’t start till the week after that! Let's go!”
Doug and Evie reunited and Dizzy trailed ahead of them, eyes wide with fascination and wonder as she took in the sight of the Auradon prep dorms.
The twins clung to Harriet's hands as they walked into the dorms, eyes widening as they saw the massive and lavishly decorated main foyer. Ben spun on his heel and threw his arms open again “so this is the dorm building, where those of you who will be attending Auradon prep will stay” Harriet raised her brow and looked down at the twins. “Auradon prep is a high school so the twins, unfortunately, won't be unable to attend until they are fourteen, but the middle school is connected to the high school so they’ll be staying here with everyone else, you’ll be living somewhere else though.” Harriet looked up at that.
“why meh?” she muttered, pursing her lips as Ben gave a sympathetic smile.
“well as you are over the age of 18, we’ve decided to have you attend one quarter here to start you off, then the rest of the first semester and the second semester in Auradon college. fully paid for by the way, none of it will be from your own pocket. then you’ll have full range to do whatever you wish in Auradon, whether it be a job or to continue in college.” Harriet pursed her lips again in thought, before nodded.
“sounds…reasonable” she muttered, smirking as CJ leaned on her shoulder, getting the attention of Ben.
“enough chit-chat, where’s our rooms?!” Ben smiled and shook his head, already expecting CJ’s impatience thanks to Harry's “warning” about it before they had gone to get the vks.
“Alright let's go, CJ, Dizzy, you two are rooming together” the two girls shared a look, CJ glancing away as Dizzy beamed at her. “Harriet you’ll be temporarily rooming with (y/n) until your housing is ready for you after your first quarter, and Sammy you’ll be rooming with the twins until we have the single room ready for you, it's still under refurbishment.”
The mentioned vks nodded a bit and followed Ben as he lead them to the upstairs dorms, where the girls stayed. You stepped in front of him and opened up a room with the number 221 on it.
Swinging it open, you motioned to CJ and Dizzy and nodded inside. The two girls stepped inside, CJ looking around wearily as Dizzy squealed and bounced on her heels.
Unlike Mal and Evie's room when they first arrived, it wasn’t decorated in pink and frills as it used to be. the walls were painted a light blue, and one side had a bed with an Ombre blue duvet with black and red sheets, the drapes a light silver. Next to the bed was a short and wide black dresser with silver handles, and a desk with a computer ready to use. The walls were covered in “pirate” décor, maps of the oceans, of neverland, a flag with skull and crossbones, a map of the world, and in the corner of the side of the room, was a painted ocean wave with a pirate ship just coasting atop of it. obviously, CJs side of the room.
The other side matched Dizzy, the bed was forest green with painted flowers decorating the duvet, shades of pink and green decorated pillows, and the drapes were paint-splattered. Next to the bed was a large dresser that was painted white and then splattered in paint, and a midsized desk covered in crafting items ready for Dizzy to use. Her side of the room was decorated with blank canvases ready for her use, finished paintings from you, Evie, and Mal, and hanging wall shelves completely filled with books ranging from geodes to art history.
“oh, my.GOOOOD!!” Dizzy screamed, running towards her bed and jumping onto it, twisting midair to land on her back “OH MY GOD ITS SO FLUFFY!!”
Evie covered her mouth to hide her huge grin as Dizzy cuddled into her bed, the younger teen looking up and inviting Evie to join her. Evie eagerly took the request and ran and jumped onto the bed next to Dizzy, who bounced as Evie landed.
Harry and Harriet smirked at each other as CJ stayed close to the doors, hesitant to enjoy her new room, she squeaked as Harry hoisted her into his arms and walked over to her bed “Harry put me down I swear to hades I’ll-“ she squeaked again as Harry tossed her onto the bed and laughed, CJ’s cheeks turning red as he just flopped on top of her to keep her on the bed “I SWEAR TO GOD ILL KILL YOU”
“do it then, no balls!” Harry cackled, yelping as CJ flipped him off of her and tackled him. “oh come on! Yeh can do better tha’n tha’!!” CJ growled again and attempted to get Harry into a headlock but he just slipped out of her grip and trapped her head with his hands, her arms suspended as they threaded through his arms. “gotcha~”
“Lemme go!” CJ screeched, which turned to a scream as Harry tossed her back onto her bed. She wiggled around a bit in an attempt to sit up and launch herself back at Harry but stopped midway “…” she let herself sink into the mattress, her ears turning pink as Harry and Harriet started to snicker at her “okay yeah this is comfortable”
Ben covered his smile with his hand and looked to Evie, who was busy giggling with Dizzy, and clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention “okay! That’s one out of three dorms! Let's continue, shall we? Then, lunchtime!” Gil gasped at the mention of lunch and started to pull Harry out of the room.
“Gil-dude-bro, okay im coming!” you laughed a bit as you watched Gil drag Harry back towards the stairs towards the twins and Sammy’s room. So food-driven that boy.
Doug, Evie, Jay, and Dizzy followed Ben as he walked out of the room and trailed after Harry and Gil. Harriet, CJ, the twins, and Sammy waited for you to start moving before they followed after Ben.
A few doors down from Jay and Carlos’ room, to which Jay unlocked and threw his jacket onto his bed since he was getting a bit too warm, was the smee boys' room. Ben unlocked it and let the boys inside, the twin's eyes going wide as they spotted the large twin-sized bunk bed with rustic painted dark oak wood and light blue sheets.
“woah!” they gasped, separating from Harriet and launching themselves at the bunk bed. “I call top!” Skipper yelled, kicking at Sterling as he pulled at Skipper's foot to prevent him from going up the ladder any further.
“no, I want top!”
Sammy ignored his squabbling brothers and walked over to his bed, sitting down on the soft sky-blue sheets that were balanced with red pillows. Sammy looked around with a small smile, the walls were painted with the colors of the sunrise, the bottom of the walls painted with curling waves. On the twin's side were wall bookshelves decorated with books and bottles with ships inside them, and on Sammy's side were maps and a tall bookshelf filled with books and random nick-nacks. Next to the twin's bed were two matching dressers painted white with blue drawers, one had Skipper's name painted in gold, the other with Sterling's name in gold.
Sammy looked to his right, nodding as he spotted a tall dresser painted a darker blue with his name painted in gold just above the first drawer.
“how do you like it?” Ben asked, his fingers spinning his class ring as the Smee boys looked at him. Sammy gave him a small smile and nod while the twins grinned and went back to fighting for the top bunk.
Harriet stepped next to Ben and gave him a look ‘I got this’ it said, she walked up to the twins and picked them up by their collars, both of them going limp as they looked up at Harriet.
“rock paper scissors, now” the twins glared at each other and immediately went at it “winner gets first pick, two outta three”
After a few moments of aggravated rock paper scissors, Sterling won out and raised his arms in victory “I win! Top bunk!” he scrambled up the ladder as Skipper pouted at him, crossing his arms.
“he won, get over it” Harriet snickered, patting Skippers back as he launched himself into the bottom bunk. “all right, im starving and I haven’t eaten breakfast, how bout we wrap up the dorm room tour and get food?” Gil pointed at Harriet and nodded.
“yes! Food, food sounds good!” Harriet snorted and rolled her eyes at Gil, the twins trailing after her as Ben turned on his heel and gestured down the hall.
“yes! Come on, last room!” the group of vks and two aks plus you traveled down the hall till you reached your room, which had been moved around a bit to make room for Harriet.
“Welcome to your temporary home” you smiled at her, swinging open your door and letting Harriet step inside, grinning as she let out a whistle. “like it?”
Harriet only nodded, moving further into the room and spinning on her heel to get a good look. Her eyes drifted to the king-sized bed that laid across from yours. The duvet was crimson with gold curling patterns with black sheets and pillows “you can take the sheets with you when you go for college if you want” Ben spoke up, stepping into the room a bit with a smile. Harriet looked at him and slowly nodded, walking over to her bed and pressing her hands into the sheets.
“soft” she muttered, sticking her hands in her pockets as Gil yelled from outside the room.
“food please!”
“Okay okay!” Ben laughed, biting his lip as he heard Evie, Harry, Jay, and Doug snicker at the food-driven vk “let's go get lunch”
The group cheered and made their way to the cafeteria, Dizzy squealing as she spotted Mal sitting at one of the tables “Mal!!” Mal looked up from her turkey sandwich, a grin spreading on her face as Dizzy raced toward her
“Dizzy! You made it!” Mal opened her arms and Dizzy slammed into her, wrapping her arms around Mal's neck “okay love the energy but you’re choking me!” Dizzy squeaked and pulled away, the smile not falling from her face “oh! Here, I got you something” Mal picked up a bowl, filled with two scoops of smooth vanilla ice cream “ice cream~ just for you” Dizzy gasped, going to grab it but Evie got to it first, giving Mal a look.
“food first, then dessert” Mal and Dizzy pouted at her but Dizzy followed you as you nodded at the lunch line.
“come on, it's not going to disappear in the time you get your food and eat.” Ben sat next to Mal as the others went to get their food, Carlos plopping on Mal's other side a moment later, his tray filled with food.
“Hey Ben, how’d pick up go? And the tour?” Carlos asked, Ben grinned wide, Mal and Carlos grinning back “im guessing it went really well then?” Ben nodded enthusiastically, crossing his arms on the table and leaning forward.
“really really well, we arrived and got all them in like, 10 minutes, there was some hesitance from the Smee twins but Harry talked to them and they hopped into the limo after that.” Carlos and Mal nodded at that.
“yeah, the twins, as far as I know,” Mal started, scratching her cheek as she looked at the new vks in the lunch line “the twins are really really attached to their dad, the next would be Harry, if the twins weren’t attached to Smee's hip they were hanging off Harry or following him around, he acted like he hated it but everyone could tell he liked his little ducklings” Carlos hid a smile behind his soda and nodded.
“yeah, it was kinda cute” Carlos looked back to the lunch line, seeing the twins cling to Harry as he filled their trays for them “sometimes you would just walk down the market and see one twin on his back and the other wrapped around his leg and he would just walk around as if they weren’t there, point it out and you’d lose an eye but” Carlos shrugged at the mention of Harry gouging someone's eye out for pointing out his “care” towards the twins.
Ben had gotten used to the odd humor and gory references that the vks used so he brushed off the mention of Harry's old violent tendencies.
“that is very cute” Ben chuckled, moving closer to Mal as Evie and Dizzy walked back over the table, Jay suddenly appearing next to Carlos and sitting at his side, the two boys fighting as Jay attempting to snatch one of Carlos’ fries.
There was hardly any room at the table for everybody, something which Gil and you noticed. You set down your tray next to Evie’s and rolled up our sleeves, walking over the adjacent table, which was thankfully empty, and started to push it to connect to the first table.
Gil joined you and picked up the table, helping you to connect the two tables. Ben grinned and  watched as the vks spread out a bit more across the two tables, you, Harry, and Gil sitting next to each other as usual. “thanks you two”
“No problem” you and Gil chirped back in unison, Gil digging into his side of deviled eggs as you picked at your (preferred lunch) and took a bite, happy to finally eat something after a long morning.
Ben couldn’t keep down the giddy feeling in his chest as he looked around at the table, the twins, Harriet, Sammy, and Dizzy, all here, finally in Auradon. He was getting closer to his dream of giving every single vk on the isle a proper chance to live free. “I want to say a toast” Ben grabbed the drink that Evie had gotten him and raised it, the vks plus you and Doug looking at him with raised brows “it's been over half a year since I promised you all that I would bring more vks over, and I apologize that it's taken this long for you to be here, but I promise now that I will do whatever it takes to give every child on the isle a real chance at freedom. And I want to say thank you for trusting me to bring you here.” The new vks followed the first six vks as they raised their drinks with Ben and grinned at him, you and Doug doing the same. “to the future, and its generations of villain kids”
Harriet bit down her smile as everyone clinked drinks “to the future!”
-end of part 4-

It has really been forever, but work kind of kicked my ass the last few weeks and writing has ben really really hard. In any case I am determined to finish that (just one chapter left, yey) and I also have bunch of hot requests to work on.
Fic Title: Somewhere in Time:  Chapter 9  Previous Chapters:   1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8   Rating: Explicit [NSFW around the end] Fandom: The Witcher Relationship: Caranthir Ar-Feiniel/Original Female Character(s) AO3 Link
“Caranthir?” Aine looked at him confused and afraid, he pulled the blanket over her knowing they won’t be alone soon. Of all the possible days and times now would be the one, of course. He knew Avallac’h probably had no idea Carabthir was not alone, but that did not make the situation less annoying and frustrating. He was not a child anymore.
As soon as Avallac’h stepped through the portal, Caranthir got off the bed and started walking to his dresser, ignoring the man. The clothes he was wearing were downstairs in his study and he was not going to talk to his teacher naked. Avallac’h moved his eyes between him and Aine, she had the blankets pulled almost to her eyes level. Caranthir could feel the anger building in him. Of course his mentor will come now, if there was one thing Avallac’h had ever achieved regarding Caranthir was to ruin the few good moments he ever had in life.
“Get out of the room.” he said as his teacher was shifting his gaze between Aine and him. “The door is there, Avallac’h.” Caranthir pointed angrily as the older elf just smiled politely, acting as if just teleporting in someone's bedroom was the most normal thing in the world. His teacher walked out of the room, Caranthir followed, considering pushing him down the stairs.
“Why are you here?” Caranthir asked as they walked in his lab, Avallach had already lit the place. “Actually, I don’t care, leave.” He was having a good moment, for the first time in his life he was actually enjoying the closeness to another living thing, going through emotions he thought for a very long time unable to experience, and it was all cut short.
“I need to ask you something.” Avallac’h pretended as if that whole thing was absolutely normal. It wasn’t, it had never been normal.
“Make an appointment.” all the serenity was gone and he was pure rage right now, he couldn’t believe something so simple bothered him so much and was able to destroy all the tranquility he felt just a moment ago. He couldn’t show his feelings to Avallac’h, he would not give him the satisfaction. He did his best to look calm, but the winter storm outside the Tower started howling. “Leave.” Caranthir snarled.
“I understand that your absolute inability to build meaningful intimate relationships probably makes you very uncomfortable being seen in bed with someone, but I really need to speak to you.” he was talking to him, but Avallac’h’s eyes were not on him. Caranthir turned and saw Aine standing on the stairs wearing one of his shirts. He turned back to his teacher, Crevan’s eyes narrowed as if trying to determine how serious this thing was. No...he was thinking if he could use her to get to him. He was staring at her in the way Caranthir would stare at a horse he found interesting. He didn’t feel jealous because of his teacher’s gaze, he was concerned.
“Aine, go upstairs.” she hesitated and he raised his voice. “Now!” This time she did it, her light steps echoing as she climbed up the cold stairs.
“Free advice, from personal experience, snapping, especially when there is no need to do so, will result in unfortunate consequences.” Avallac’h forced a smile and Caranthir’s anger only grew. That patronizing, always knowing better than him...
“Despite my inability to build meaningful intimate relationships, do I look stupid enough to follow the advice of the man known for driving the one woman he loved away.” Caranthir chuckled, he had learned from the best. If Avallac’h wanted a fight, he was going to give him one and Eredin was not here to stop them.
“Lara might have left me, but at least she knew who I was.” Crevan pointed toward the stairs even if there was no one there anymore. “Tell me Caranthir, how long before your arrogance and impulses drive her away? How about everything in you that Eredin has corrupted? How long before your true colors show and she walks away for real this time. What will you do then? Let her go?” Avallac’h made a fake laugh. “I saw the marks on her skin, you will not allow your possession to just walk away. I would know.”
Silence fell between the two of them. Deep down Caranthir knew they were just two elves trying to hurt each other without doing it physically. They knew each other far too well, despite how much Avallac’h had tried to hide his pain through the years, Caranthi had seen it. Avallac’h was wrong however, she was not a possession, or maybe he had sensed that was using the words to push him further?
“I need to know where Eredin keeps the girl.” Avallac’h finally said, his voice soft, no trace of the frustrated tone they both used.
“What girl?” It has been days since he has been in Tir na Lia, he had no idea what Eredin or anyone was up to.
“Cirilla.”
“I don’t really keep track of where Eredin stores his toys.” Caranthir smiled. “Now, the door is downstairs, or use a portal, I don’t care.” The storm outside calmed, but so high in the tower, the wind was still whistling against the stone.
“Caranthir, I know you messed with the potion for Auberon.” Avallac’h added without hesitation. “I also know Eredin asked you to.” pause, he did not respond, just looked at his teacher. “I also know you have cast a spell to prevent me from finding Cirilla, I would have located her by now otherwise.”
“Maybe you should try harder.” Caranthir didn’t speak in anger, but he knew the words would hit home. That was what Avallac’h would tell him every single time he was unable to cast a spell or do something that was expected of him.
“You need to look beyond your selfishness.” Avallac’h added. “You have responsibilities.”
“I do.” Caranthir smiled. “To my king.”
“He is not the true king.” Avallac’h did not raise his voice, but the anger there was obvious. “I need to find the girl, she is a key to something more important than whatever Eredin wants to use her for. He will ruin everything…”
“Everything what?” Caranthir laughed. “All your life you have believed that there is a great purpose for you Crevan. Be with Lara, be the power behind the throne, father the child to save us all. Look at you. Ended up with Lara death, me as a replacement for your child and now even the throne is not yours. You are not as special as you think you are, Crevan. You think everyone to be more stupid than you are, but Eredin knows exactly what is at stake here. As do I. We are all aware and don't need you to remind us.”
“But I'm the only one who knows how to help.” There was malice in Avallac’h’s smile now, an emotion he had not seen on the other man’s lips before. “You think you are stronger than me? You can do a lot, but we still need Ciri and your ability might be enough to keep Eredin happy, but they are not enough to save us. All of us.'' A pause followed, Caranthir was ready for an attack, but one did not follow. “Tell me, how good of a mage is she?” Avallac’h pointed up the stairs. “If I am to...collapse the roof of this ugly tower, how long do you think she will last? A minute? A second?”
“Your issue is with me not with her.” Caranthir spoke through his teeth. “Besides, it doesn matter how good she is. I can protect her.” Avallac’h was bluffing. He would not do that...wouldn’t he? The man was pragmatic, logical, in his mind the life of all of the Aen Elle was more valuable than whatever might happen here, Caranthir understood that very well.
“Protect her? Like that other one? The one that the human mages killed? Did you tell her you will protect her too? Or there was no time for that.” The tower shook and Caranthir had just a second to stop his teacher's spell, before he found himself flying across the room and hitting the wall.
“The same way you promised Lara to protect her.” he got up, clearing blood from his mouth. “How did that work for you?.” he cast a spell, Avallac'h saw it and avoided the ice falling from the ceiling, but Caranthir knew that would happen, he moved the table behind Crevan and hit the small of his back forcing him on his hands and knees. They were even now.
They looked at each other, the anger in Avallac’h’s eyes softened, there was still displeasure, but the malice was gone.
Avallac'h stood unsure why he even did that. Why was he going so far? He did not come here to threaten Caranthir or that poor girl that had nothing to do with their past. He was happy Caranthir found someone, the kid deserved to feel something other than anger.
All he needed was Ciri's location, Caranthir must know something, otherwise he would be able to sense her. The logical explanation was he had cast a spell, he could walk for days through the palace, assuming she was in the palace and look for the spell, but he did not have days.
“I should have been kinder to you.” Avallac'h changed his approach. This was how he should have started. Tell him how he really felt, apologize, especially knowing that after today they would certainly be enemies and one of them would end up dead. Hopefully not, but it was a possibility. “I should have taught you how to love.” A pause followed and the navigator did not speak either. "I am not threatening anymore and I will not hurt her or you, unless you provoke me. Where is Ciri?" the young man laughed at his words.
“You should either continue with murder attempt or leave.” Caranthir finally said calmly
“I wish you could look beyond your own hatred.” Avallac’h sighed. “Lara taught me things I didn’t know. About myself. I think you have learned something about yourself tonight as well, my boy.”
Avallac'h couldn't believe how much alike the two of them were. Not in everything, and he was to blame for all of their similarities and differences. Ironically, he was not his biological father, but judging by their characters he might as well be.
“Avallac’h, it's too late to be my father.” Caranthir finally said as if reading his mind. It was a mix between regret and pain. "I will not tell you where she is. I will not betray Eredin."
Avallac'h nodded. That one was on him. He could have been smarter but his emotions took the best of him. He opened a portal and walked away. He was going to find her himself.
Caranthir stood there not sure what happened or why. He just stared at one point on the wall, his mind numb.
"Caranthir?" Aine's voice came from the stairs, he turned his head just to see her standing back at the stairs. The look on her eyes made him snap. She was scared and she was worried. For herself or for him? "Are you okay?" She asked and he stood there...for him? That was the first time…
"I'm okay. Let's go to bed." he walked to her and wrapped his around her shoulders.
Carathir woke up sensing his spell broken. Avallac’h finally found her. He knew it was just a matter of time after their conversation yesterday he just hoped it was in more time than that. Going back to Ti na Lia wasn’t something he wanted to do right now. Aine was still asleep, her small back pressed against his chest. He wrapped his arms a bit tighter around her, he had never woken up next to someone in his life, nor had he ever had the desire to do so until now. He couldn’t believe how his entire life he had missed that. Sure, until now he had the need to be someone for more than a night only once before, but the whole feeling of having someone in his arms...he buried his face closer to her, inhaling the smell of wild flowers and pine from her hair. Caranthir wished he didn’t need to go to Tir na Lia now, he could spend the day here in bed just...holding her. That was new as well.
He felt her shift a bit and he released his grip not wanting to be clingy. Funny, he managed to sleep the whole night without moving at all, that was a first as well. She rolled over looking at him with sleepy eyes. Caranthir just stared. Even half awake she was the prettiest thing he had ever seen. He felt bad for waking her, probably it was his tight embrace, but he could just not control himself, he needed to feel her so badly against his skin.
“Good morning.” she said as her eyes were pinned on his, he couldn’t stop admiring all the color on her. The red hair, such a contrast to the paleness of his, the vividness of her eyes, compared to the dullness of his...
“Last night...I promise that won’t happen again.” she looked at him puzzled, again he realized what he said was stupid and he should use more than three words to describe things. “I don’t mean...I mean with Avallac’h and the tower. Not what happened before that.” what happened before that he hoped would happen again. More than once. “He was out of line.”
“He is your teacher, right?” she asked as she pulled herself closer to him. Caranthir just nodded. Avallac’h was more than a teacher to him and less at the same time, but now that was not his problem. He had to tell her that he needed to leave despite not knowing for sure yet. Truth was he had no idea what was going on in Tir na Lia, he knew someone broke his spell, probably Avallac’h no one else had the power to do so, not now. Maybe Eredin captured him...he had to go.
“He was my teacher.” he finally answered, realizing that silence lasted too long. “He is something else right now.” he had to tell her, but how to do that without making it sound as if he was abandoning her. Last night she told him this was what she was afraid of, being used and then left. “Tell…” he stopped and her eyebrows raised in curiosity. Did he really want to know? “Tell me about that man. The one you said...left you.”
Aine stared at his pale eyes not sure she understood the question. She understood the words, that was not the problem, but why was he asking about that all of a sudden? Then again, she had seen probably some of the most intimate moments of his life, it was just fair.
“Well...not much to say...he was someone close to my half brother, but wanted to be closer, get more power.” That happened years ago and it still hurt her in a way. It had been a valuable lesson to learn her place. Not that much because of what he did, but because it was such a good reminder for her she had no place, neither with humans nor with elves. “He thought my father valued me more than he actually did, and he was not entirely wrong, he encountered him at a time when he was somewhat affectionate to me. We spent months together, I was happy because I felt like finally I had found my place. Finally I wasn’t neither here nor there, I was a part of something, accepted by someone...a few months passed he finally understood that my father used me to show off to elves who were sympathetic to humans, parade how generous he was to me, and ignored me the rest of the time. He tried, he asked my father if being with me makes him part of the family, my father ignored him and there was that.”
“Did you ever…” Caranthir started and then stopped half way. It was curious how hard these questions were for him, but he was the one asking, she did not share that on her own. Aine could feel his body being tense around her, his embrace a bit stronger. “Did you ever have that with him?”
“That?” she had to try to suppress a laugh. “I’m not sure what you mean by ‘that’.”
Caranthir felt the air just stopping in his lungs. He knew jealousy as a feeling, but that was the first time he felt it in a romantic way. He wasn’t even sure why, whoever the elf was, that was in the past, he didn’t even know his name, and that was probably for the best as otherwise he would find him and kill him. Not for what he had done to her, but because they had something, no matter how fake it might have been. No, the real jealously came from the fact that he probably held her in his arms, the way he was holding her now, but he had not done that with anyone else.
“Held you in his arms?” he finally asked, knowing the answer.
“Caranthir, why are you asking?” she pushed herself away from him a bit, placing a hand on his chest and looking at him concerned. “Does it really matter what happened years ago, with someone who does not matter anymore?”
Why was he asking? She was right, it didn’t matter.
“We need to go back to Tir na Lia.” he finally said. He just didn’t want to sound like he was leaving her, but he was leaving her, even if it was not in the same way. “And I will have to leave with the king on a hunt most likely.” he saw the confusion and pain on her face. He reached quickly for her cheek and cupped it with his hand. “I did not plan for that to happen.”
“Can I stay here?” she finally asked, the concern in her eyes not disappearing but he could feel her body being less tense.
“No.” he laughed. “I might be gone for a day, but I might be gone for months. You can’t open a portal on your own, not even to move yourself downstairs. There is no way out of here but through a portal.” he kissed her forehead. “In Tir na Lia, you will have all of my servants, everything you’d ever need.”
“Caranthir, no…” she grabbed his hand from her face and held it in hers. “My place is not there, I’m neither human nor elf, I have no place in the palace. Not as an elf…”
He placed his finger on her lips making her silent.
“You have a place. Here and in Tir na Lia.” he opened a portal under the two of them and suddenly they moved to his rooms in Tir na Lia. They fell on his bed, the warm blankets from the Winter tower with them. “This is your place.”
Before she could protest again there was a knock on the door and one of his servants walked in, an elderly man who usually looked after everything.
“My lord, I was not aware you will be coming back.” the man bowed as he spoke, he looked at Aine for a second and then his eyes were on Caranthir again.
Aine pulled the covers closer to her chin as Caranthir got off the bed, the servant still standing there. That dynamic was not unfamiliar to her, the man was most likely trained all his life to do exactly what he was doing right now and Caranthir had grown up knowing humans were nothing but servants. She was the odd one in the situation. He got off the bed and walked around it, the servant's head bowed down but he followed his master’s movement as he went to the window on the other side of the bed. Aine used the chance to study the room, it was at least twice as big as the bedroom in the Winter Tower, the bed was softer, there was a small table with chairs, dresser next to the wall and vanity, but the mirror was covered with a sheet. That was curious, she realized just now that there was not a single mirror in the Winter Tower.
“I will be leaving Tir na Lia for a hunt.” Caranthir turned toward his servant. “In my absence, her word is my word.” The man did not answer to him, just gave her a quick look, almost as if trying to understand. Aine did not blame him. His life was easily defined. Humans served elves and there was that. She was neither. She wasn’t his mistress, nor wanted to be, but she was not his equal either. “Make sure you find her some clothes. We left everything at the Winter Tower.”
“Yes, my lord.” The man bowed and shot another look at her, filled with confusion as if he was trying to make sure he really understood his master’s commands. He nodded and walked out.
“You don’t need to do that.” she said as the man walked away. “I don’t need servants.”
Caranthir walked toward the bed and sat at the edge, the morning light from the window reflecting in the white lines of the scars on his body.
“You said you don’t have a place.” he ran his fingers through her face. “I’m giving you one. But you will not have a place, among the Aen Elle, or among the humans, unless you decide if you want to be Aen Elle or human. It’s yours.” he made a gesture with his other hand pointing at the vast room. “There is a study next door and all the books you need on magic...hopefully I will be back soon.”
He looked at her face trying to remember all the lines, how her red hair contrasted with her skin, the mismatching eyes, the curve on her nose, the fine on her cheekbones...he hoped that would take no more than a day but he knew Avallac’h he was clever and he had already seen the rest of the Red Riders preparing in the yard. It was a matter of time before Eredin came looking.
“Why are you doing that?” she finally asked him and he was taken aback. What sort of question was that? “You don’t need to.” she added. “You can leave me in the rooms where you kept me imprisoned, they are perfectly adequate, but you are giving me your rooms. Why?”
Caranthir could not answer these questions. He could, but not actually voice it. She made him feel good, she made him forget how bad he felt about himself, she made him feel wanted for something else than being Eredin’s Navigator. He also liked holding her in his arms, just having another being that accepted him for who and what he was. Someone who in a way was as lonely as he was, someone just as him, could never find their place, because he was not a warrior like Eredin and Imlerith, but he was also different from Avallac’h. Or at least wanted to be.
“Come.” he took her hand in his and walked with her to the window where he was standing just a moment ago. She hesitated for a moment to step closer, she had nothing covering her body. “It’s okay the rooms are high enough, even if someone looks they can’t see you.” He pushed her closer to the glass and wanted her to see what he was looking at just a moment ago. Eredin and the rest of the Red Riders rushing around the yard, preparing to leave. He had not spoken with him, but he already knew what was going on. “I’m doing that, because you are doing something for me.” he kissed her neck where he could still see the marks he left on her last night. “Something to me.” He placed his hands over her belly and slid them up to her breasts, but she stopped him.
“A payment?” there was hurt in her words and Caranthir stepped back, she was not turning but she could see his reflection in the window.
“No.” he wished he was able to express what was going on in his head. The fact that he did not want to leave, not now that he actually felt good for the first time in many years. “Gratitude. Appreciation.” yes, that sounded closer to what he was feeling, probably not an accurate description but as close as he could allow himself to admit aloud. He wrapped his hands around her again, but this time sank his teeth in her skin, pulling her closer to himself trying to remember how her skin feels against his. One hand sliding between her legs, the other reaching for her breasts but she stopped him again.
“Not like that.” she turned around and faced him, placing a hand on his chest just over his heart. “Gentle.”
“I’m not sure I know how.” it wasn’t a lie. Last night was the nicest he had ever been to someone in bed and he still wasn’t sure that qualified as gentle.
“I can help you.” she stepped on her tip toes and kissed his lips. Caranthir didn’t even need to think about it, his whole body was just responding to her.
“I don’t have a lot of time.” It was partially an excuse to hide his lack of experience in being kind, but also truth. It was a matter of minutes before Eredin asked for him. He wanted to treat her differently than everyone else and he was far less ashamed of himself around her, he wouldn’t be standing naked in front of her now if that was not the case, but he had no idea where to start from.
“You don’t need a lot of time.” she kissed him again, this time he was trying to memorize the sweetness of her taste.
Aine wasn’t even sure where all that courage came in her, she knew she wanted him, just this time she wanted to look at his face, all the time. As much as she liked last night, that was different. He said he could be away for months, so she wanted to remember him.
“I will try.” he groaned as he reached down and lifted her, placing her on the window sill but still supporting most of her body. He moved one hand between her legs running a finger through her entrance feeling that she was already wet. Redness crawled trough her neck and cheeks having herself for a second day spread like that for him.
“Slowly.” she moaned as his finger was replaced by the tip of his cock. He listened, he pushed slowly in her, his hand grabbing her chin and made her look at him as he was slowly pushing in her. He was careful and gentle, trying to be. The hand that was supporting her was still digging in her skin, probably leaving bruises and she could see the lust in his eyes.
As he pushed all the way in he leaned forward and kissed her, moving the hand that was holding her chin to where they were connected, his thumb easily reaching for her clit.
“I don’t have time.” he whispered in her ear as he picked up the pace. She kissed his chest trying to silence her moans. Despite his faster and harsher pace he was trying to be kind, his lips were on her neck, but this time kissing not biting. She wrapped her legs around his urging him to go faster even if he did not really need the invitation. He moved his lips to hers just before she came around him, as his own moves became more frantic and needy. Couple of thrusts later and he came slamming his hand at the window behind her to find support.
Neither of them moved for a second, she couldn’t until he did, and he was just leaning over her looking at her unfocused and trying to catch his breath.
He didn’t step away from her but grabbed her and threw her on the bed, her back hitting the softness of the mattress.
“How was that for ‘nice’?” He did not follow her in bed, but watched her naked shape over the covers.
“We need to practice.” she teased him, as she was trying to memorize every inch of his body.
“When I am back.” he leaned forward and kissed her. For a second she thought he would follow her in bed, but he stopped over her. He pulled one of the rings from his hand and handed it to her, it was different from the one he used to teach her. This one was just a band with runes marked on it. “Keep that with yourself. If something happens, I can find it.”
“If something happens?” she could sense concern in his voice. Happens to her or to him? “No more tracking spells?” she teased, not wanting to even imagine what ‘something happens’ could mean. Not now.
“No tracking spells.” he touched her lips with his thumb. “If you are to walk away now, and leave the ring here, I won’t be able to find you.”
She wanted to tell him that she wouldn't leave, not unless he asked her to, but a knock on the door prevented that.
“My lord.” it was his servant. “The king is asking for you.”

The Golden Globes nominations are here and since the Hollywood Foreign Press are still persona non grata there hasn't been much of a stir regarding their choices.
GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS (FILM)
Best Motion Picture — Drama Belfast CODA Dune King Richard The Power of the Dog *Haven't seen CODA. Belfast is a kitchen sink drama. It has its charm but is unremarkable. Dune suffers from being the first entry so it's all world building. The technical aspects are great, though. TPOTD's punch only comes in the final act. KING RICHARD is a true crowd pleaser with excellent performances.
Tumblr media
Best Screenplay — Motion Picture Licorice Pizza Belfast The Power of the Dog Don’t Look Up Being the Ricardos *Haven't seen BEING THE RICARDOS. It's DLU for me, very funny screenplay and relevant. Best Director – Motion Picture Kenneth Branagh, Belfast Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Lost Daughter Steven Spielberg, West Side Story Denis Villeneuve, Dune *I haven't seen THE LOST DAUGHTER, but while Villeneuve did a wonderful job with the size and scale of DUNE, I think overall Spielberg nailed it WSS. It was a true homage and gorgeous to look at. Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama Jessica Chastain, The Eyes of Tammy Faye Olivia Colman, The Lost Daughter Nicole Kidman, Being the Ricardos Lady Gaga, House of Gucci Kristen Stewart, Spencer *Haven't seen BEING THE RICARDOS or THE LOST DAUGHTER. I really have to go with Gaga for this one. HOG is her film, she's really entertaining. Chastain has heart in TEOTF but it came off as a caricature. Stewart cannot shed her acting ticks to fully become Lady Di.
Tumblr media
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture Catriona Balfe - Belfast Araiana Debose- West Side Story Kirsten Dunst -The Power of the Dog
Aunjanue Ellis- King Richard Ruth Negga - Passing *Tough category. Debose was incredible, Negga was a delight, Dunst was strong and certainly had more of a thrust than THE BEGUILED the last film she had awards buzz on, Balfe is fine, but Ellis created a fully formed person. She have life to Oracene and was so authentic.
Tumblr media
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy Marion Cotillard - Annette Alana Haim - Licorice Pizza Jennifer Lawrence - Don’t Look Up Emma Stone - Cruella Rachel Zegler -West Side Story -Everyone was strong and deserves their nominations. I have to go with Emma Stone.
Tumblr media
Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy Cyrano Don’t Look Up Licorice Pizza Tick Tick Boom West Side Story - I'd be fine with either WSS or TTB, but TTB has the advantage of Garfield's performance. Best Motion Picture — Animated Encanto Flee Luca My Son Ahmad Raya and the Last Dragon Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama Mahershala Ali, Swan Song Javier Bardem, Being the Ricardos Benedict Cumberbatch, The Power of the Dog Will Smith, King Richard Denzel Washington, The Tragedy of Macbeth - Haven't seen SWAN SONG or BEING THE RICARDOS. Cumberbatch's performance is sneakily good. It seems like he's not doing much when he is really drawing a compelling character. You always get Will Smith when you do a film which isn't a bad thing it's just he's always Will Smith. Washington really made the text in THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH workable. He and McDormand were excellent and I'm shocked she wasn't recognized.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture Ben Affleck - The Tender Bar Jamie Dornan -Belfast Ciarán Hinds - Belfast Troy Kotsur -CODA Kodi Smit-McPhee -The Power of the Dog *Haven't seen CODA yet; Smit-McPhee was good in TPOTD, Dornan was fine but had little to do, Hinds was the heart of the film for me, but I really enjoyed Affleck in TTB. Affleck truly excels in supporting roles. I think he views himself as a character actor and he feels freer in that role despite this role actually having more screentime than the true leads Daniel Ranieri and Tye Sheridan.
Tumblr media
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy Leonardo DiCaprio -Don’t Look Up Peter Dinklage - Cyrano Andrew Garfield -Tick, Tick… BOOM! Cooper Hoffman - Licorice Pizza Anthony Ramos - In the Heights *Haven't seen ITH, Dinklage is charming in Cyrano and holds his own in the singing dept.; Hoffman was just fine in LP, it's great seeing DiCaprio playing an anxious character because his characters are always so confident and unflappable (and it's wild how much he looks like his father George - who pops up in LICORICE PIZZA) in this. But it's Garfield for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Best Original Score — Motion Picture The French Dispatch Encanto The Power of the Dog Parallel Mothers Dune *Haven't seen Parallel Mothers or Encanto. Desplate and Zimmer offers more of the same. As a Radiohead fan I'm always going with Jonny Greenwood; though his score for SPENCER was better than TPOTD and Licorice Pizza. Best Original Song -- Motion Picture Be Alive - King Richard (Beyonce) Dos Orugitas - Encanto (Lin-Manuel Miranda) Down to Joy - Belfast (Van Morrison) Here I Am (Singing My Way Home) - Respect (Jennifer Hudson) No Time to Die - No Time to Die (Billie Eilish) - "Be Alive" is certainly stirring at the end of KING RICHARD, but I didn't love any of these; especially Van Morrison's song (or any of the numerous songs of his they used in BELFAST).Surprised Bono was locked out because while "Your Song Saved My Life" wasn't great he's Bono! I thought it was a sure thing. Best Motion Picture — Foreign Language Compartment No. 6 Drive My Car The Hand of God A Hero Parallel Mothers *Ashamed to say I haven't seen any but from what I've seen PARALLEL MOTHERS and DRIVE MY CAR, especially the latter are the ones who have the best chance at winning Best Foreign Language. While I liked Germany's entry I'M YOUR MAN it really is not awards material.
No matter how great Dan Stevens is.

What if there was a Walt Disney Fighting Game? [Video Game Concept]
Note: I am well aware, that Disney would probably never say yes in a million years to this idea. Taking their beloved, child friendly characters and having them fight?!
OH THE HORROR?!
I am also aware there have been concepts for this in the past.
Final Fantasy Dissidia was supposed to be a Kingdom Hearts fighting game, but Nomura felt uncomfortable portraying Disney characters in such a violent atmosphere.
And there are sketches of what a Walt Disney fighting game could've been, inspired by Super Smash Bros, before it was canceled. It would've focused on more violent characters such as Gaston, Beast, Ursula, Captain Hook, Captain Silver and the Horned King. But the idea was dropped.
Here's the link.
This entire post is just building and putting together what a Disney fighting game would look like to me, if one came out in today's world. It's all merely speculation and ideas that's been in the back of my head for awhile.
(Special thanks to @mayflower-gal for helping me set this up. 😁)
Anyways, let's get started!
Part 1: The Plot
For the plot, I believe it would have to be something simple, since this an idea for a first game. It's the start of a potentially huge franchise, so I wanna keep it not only simple, but an aspect that helps kick off the potential series. And pull in many fans, old and new of Disney.
Let's take into account one thing: what's a recurring theme across various Disney movies (and overall media)?
Is it the lovable, comic relief sidekick that makes audiences laugh? Is it the songs that kids find themselves singing, long after the tale is done and the curtain has closed? Is it perhaps, the clever celebrity choices for important side characters?
No, It's the one defining aspect that draws in audiences, both new and old, bringing you to fall in love with the characters as the story is told:
Wishes.
Pinocchio wishes to be a real boy. Beast and all his servants wish to be human again. Tiana wishes to have her own restaurant. Ariel wishes to see the world beyond the sea.
Everyone wishes for something more in their life and have dreams that they wish come true.
What if all those wishes were counted? Collected?
Watched over. Much like a parent to their children. Or a teacher to their students.
Found engaging. Found entertaining. Found comforting. Found peaceful. Found introspective.
Looked at with childlike wonder and glee when accomplished.
But frowned on when those wish for selfish desires. And an even deeper disappointment at those very same inhuman desires, coming true.
Good and bad exists inside every person, it's just a matter of what one chooses to act on and stand by at the end of the day.
What someone wishes for is reflective of that.
Now imagine that same being coming to life and wrecking havoc across the Disney universe. Judging for themself, if any of these colorful, imaginative characters, truly deserve their...
Happily,
Ever
After.
Yep, the main plot of the story mode is all the various Disney characters literally fighting for wishes and dreams to come true...
against the LITERAL embodiment of wishing upon a star.
Each playable character having their own unique ending.
Some endings being repeats of your favorite Disney movies, with some minor changes to acknowledge the game's plot. While others are original due to the wide cast of characters that are available, besides your favorite Disney Heroes.
For example, you beat the story mode as say, Pinocchio, he wishes to be a real boy.
I know it sounds very redundant since a majority of these things already happen in the Disney movies, but I feel as though relieving them would be fun. In addition to some original ones that didn't happen with either the villains or less major characters.
It's only the hypothetical first game and I wanted start with something simple, that fans could easily get into. More complex plots, with more character interactions should be saved for any possible sequels.
Part 2: The Gameplay
The game would be your typical 2D fighting game. You have,
Combos exclusive to every character that requires practice.
Playstyles that make each character feel unique.
Special moves for each character to get the upper hand and the main focus in besting your opponent in 1 VS 1 matches.
Of course, there's dialogue before fights in the character intros. With so many to pick from, it had to be put in somewhere.
It resembles 2D fighting games that you've all no doubt heard of, such as Marvel VS Capcom or Street Fighter.
But what would a Disney fighting game have to offer on the table, in order to survive the overall video game market?
It would have to be something unique and a feature that not only gives it originality, but a chance to stand out with so much creativity and innovation. Practically begging fans for more.
Which is why I present to you: Disney Songs.
Or as this game prompt will call them: Musical Finales.
The highlight of many Disney movies and overall media, the music is what leaves a lasting impression on many audiences. Which is not surprising, since Disney is mostly a musical. At least in terms of most of their films.
With so many iconic songs from throughout the company's history, of course I'll be squeezing them somehow!
Each character has a music meter, that can only be filled up with how the player times and follows the beat of the character they play as. Follow the rhythm and beat of a character, and it will fill up quicker. Get cut off by the opponent and it doesn't fill up.
That beat being the music of the stage each player fights on, by attacking to the music and the same time. Think of it like the Sound Battles mechanic in Mother 3.
Every character has four different kinds of attacks: Neutral, Musical, Wonderful and Special.
Neutral Attacks are normal attacks that are mostly used to set up combos.
Musical Attacks are attacks that deal more impact, when timed with the music of the stage.
Wonderful Attacks can be seen as character oriented attacks, that embody the personality and charm of the character you play as. And can be used to entertain the audience. We'll get into that later.
Special Attacks are unique finisher moves that require a separate meter to be filled up, as with most fighting games.
Now what happens when the music meter is full? A Disney Song starts playing of course!
Say you filled up Cinderella's music meter for example, then "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" starts playing, granting some unique abilities for Cinderella.
Each song would grant different outcomes and bonuses for the various characters. They're not Special Attacks, as that's already a separate mechanic already.
For example, "Part of Your World" starts playing if you're playing as Ariel, filling up the stage with water and slowing down the opponent, giving Ariel a chance to either take advantage of that, bump items into them or create big waves of water.
But what happens if BOTH characters trigger the music meter at the same time?!
Well, that's where this gimmick becomes a fight for which song keeps on playing!
Both songs would start playing, both at the same time and volume. Except, both characters have to compete to see which is stronger.
This is done by the two characters fighting, before triggering a rhythm game between the two. Once one is the victor, the other song fades, while the other stays playing. Doubling the duration of that character's Musical Finale.
Another mechanic is the Entertainment Meter. Every level you fight on has one, that determines which fighter the audience likes more. Via Wonderful attacks, you can charm the audience into supporting you more. This activates things like getting healing items or stat boosts in power and speed. Some of your favorite Disney sidekicks even provide aid from the audience!
It's almost like watching a Disney movie live and being able to interact with the story!
Or the battle system in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
I feel as though this is the best way of keeping the game interesting, giving it an identity of its own and still embodying that magic people will grow to love. It can also lead to some entertaining interactions in the background or foreground of a stage, as the music meter also brings in characters that would not be playable, but support playable characters nonetheless. Like Flounder and Sebastian.
Of course, either feature could be turned off if you're not a fan of that sort of thing, but that's a given.
Part 3: The Stages
With many Disney movies pick from, it's no wonder there's plenty of choices to pick from. Since this is the first game, I chose to focus more on the movies. Here's my take.

Happily Ever After Castle (Walt Disney Opening)
Part 4: The Roster
The bread and butter of many fighting games, the roster is no doubt one I had a bit of trouble putting together. With so many characters from over the years, it's no surprise. But since this is the outline of a possible first game, here's my interpretation.
Also, the cast is big to avoid being too barren or dull.
And because I had a lot of fun putting it all together.
Mickey Mouse (Mickey Mouse): The all around character of the game, he mostly fights by a series of cartoonish tricks, magic tricks and his paintbrush from Epic Mickey. His Special Attack would have him break the fourth wall like and rewind the fight like an old film projector in reverse. Except he heals, while the opponent receives twice the damage. His Musical Finale "Sorcerer's Apprentice" has him use Yensid's Sorcerer hat to its fullest and give his overall moveset more flashes to distract the opponent and slow them down.
Donald Duck (Donald Duck): Everyone's favorite, greedy mallard and the world's angriest duck. Donald would fight mainly with toon force, his fists, his bad luck and his anger. The more damage he takes, the angrier he gets. His Special Attack would have him don the Duck Avenger persona from his PK days and use a series of superhero gadgets to finish the opponent. His Musical Finale "The Three Caballeros" trades his anger for Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles showing up, making him happy. As they hurt the opponent, each time they hit Donald, to keep him happy.
Goofy (Goofy): Everyone's favorite Disney dad, Goofy joins the fight as not the brightest but with the biggest heart. He has toon force to aid him in some unconventional ways. His Special Attack would have him become Super Goof from his older days. His Musical Finale "Eye To Eye" would restore health everytime he dodges an attack, with a dancing flair to it.
Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarves): The first Disney Princess, Snow White makes her debut and she's not alone. The Seven Dwarves direct most of her attacks, such as tossing rocks, mining tools as weapons and even just grabbing the opponent and tossing them. Snow White herself can sing and command woodland animals to tie up opponents or just fight to defend her. Her Special Attack would have the Dwarves try to roll a boulder, only for lightning to strike on the opponent and the boulder as extra damage. Her Musical Finale "Whistle While You Work" will call on a huge number of forest animals, as they tidy up the stage and Snow White, slowly replenishing her health and slowing down the opponent.
Pinocchio (Pinocchio): Don't lie in his presence, as that nose is not only for show. Pinocchio fights mostly by using his nose as a staff, the Blue Fairy bringing other toys to life to aid him and Jiminy Cricket distracting the opponent with music. Pinocchio's Special Attack would have him wish upon a star and turn himself into a real boy, as the opponent is turned into a puppet and loses damage as a result. Pinocchio's Musical Finale "I've Got No Strings" would cover the stage in thin lines used for puppets: if the opponent touches one, their frozen briefly. If a projectile attack hits, the same happens.
Cinderella (Cinderella): The bell of the ball and someone whom never gives up on kindness, Cinderella will use the dance moves she showed off at the ball for her moveset, having a dancing and musical feel to how she plays and flashy dances to win against the the opponent. With her Fairy Godmother using her magic to help her, such as flashes of light. Her Special Attack would have the clock strike midnight and she leaves behind her glass slipper: once the opponent touches it they get weighed down by a giant magic dress. Cinderella's Musical Finale "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" would have the Fairy Godmother cast a series of spells over the stage, as a new carriage pops up every time Cinderella pulls off a combo. The carriages run over the opponent and can even carry Cinderella to safety.
Peter Pan (Peter Pan): Leader of the Lost Boys and Captain Hook's second biggest pain in the butt, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are here. Peter Pan has a pocket knife with him and Tinker Bell's pixie dust for aerial attacks. His Special Attack would have him toss a bunch of gold on the opponent, as the rest of the Lost Boys tackles them and beats them up for the treasures. His Musical Finale "You Can Fly" would create a trail of pixie dust behind him, that randomly causes the opponent to either jump too high or too low.
Captain Hook (Peter Pan): Keep all 'ticks' and 'tocks' away from this pirate! Captain Hook has a wide array of hooks to switch between, a flintlock pistol and his sword to win the battle. His Special Attack would have him run away from the Tick-Tock the Crocodile, as said crocodile attacks the opponent instead of Hook. His Musical Finale "A Pirate's Life/Elegant Captain Hook" would call his ship the Jolly Rodger onto the stage, as the pirates on the ship occasionally throw knives at the opponent and shoot at them, everytime Hook is caught in a combo and can't escape.
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty): Aurora, sleeping beauty herself, is doing anything but sleep and her guardians are making sure of that! With his magic fish hook, he can shapeshift into a number of animals, his most common being a hawk. His Special Attack being lassoing the sun into the opponent. His Musical Finale "You're Welcome" makes all damage to Maui, take longer to leave an impact.
And that's that. A LOT longer than I thought it would be. Now your probably thinking, what about all the other Disney media? It's an idea for the first game, so other characters (Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Scrooge McDuck, Goliath, Kim Possible, etc.) would appear in a potential sequel.
Or DLC, since every game these days has it.
Thanks so much for reading all this and taking the time to do! I would love to hear some thoughts and feedback! I had a blast making all this and would like to see if you're interested in hearing more video game ideas.

Peter Luck
Word Count: 2096
Warnings: Dealing with Endgame so spoilers for that
Author Note: Wrote this for my class so hence why there’s not relationship and also why I stayed with what actually happened in Endgame lol
Tumblr media
There isn’t much in this world that Peter Parker feels he deserves. Especially after everything his Peter Luck causes. His parents, Uncle Ben, Tony, people just don’t stay when they’re around Peter for too long. So when Pepper keeps reaching out asking for him to come and get to know his “little sister”, he pushes her away. Morgan is all that is left of Tony Stark and Peter won’t let Peter Luck get to her too.
Peter has only met Morgan once, at the funeral. Her face is an even split of Pepper and Tony. He was also pretty sure she mentioned something about cheeseburgers, which would definitely have made Tony proud. Pepper tried to catch Peter after the ceremony, but Peter had slipped away. The Avengers, Pepper, Morgan, they don’t need his luck.
“Utilizing the help I’ve fallen and can’t get up protocol.” Karen says as he slips into the tower’s window.
 “Not necessary Karen. I’m fine.”
“If you were fine, you wouldn’t be sneaking into the tower at two in the morning.” Pepper’s voice cuts through the air.
“I am fine. I’m not sneaking.” Peter counters her accusations as he grasps at his side. “What-what-what are you doing here?”
“Had a meeting in the city late. Decided to stay at the tower and drive home in the morning.” Bare feet pad across the floor and reach out towards the skin visible from where the wires had cut through his suit. “What happened?”
“Nothing too massive. Just didn’t see something.”
“Cut the crap Peter and tell me what happened.” He had heard her be short with Tony before but not with him.
“I swung into some telephone wires. It’s happened before. I’ll be healed by morning.”
“Well, as long as you’ll be ok.” She looks at him up and down, and he’s glad he still has his mask on so she can’t see how much he doesn’t want to look her in the face. How much he wants to escape so she’s not around his luck. “So you wanna talk about the rest of it?”
“The rest of it?” Peter’s not sure what she means.
“The avoidance. The hiding. The not taking your mask off.” Pepper pauses, drawing a hand through her hair. “Me finding out you were hurt from Karen.”
 “Karen alerted you?”
“Tony set Karen to alert three people if you were hurt and he wasn’t around.” Pepper explains as if this isn’t news to her. “Happy, Rhodey, and…” Pepper trails off.
“But you have your own life to deal with?”
“And you’re a kid. You shouldn’t have to be dealing with saving the world or even just Queens.” Peter hits the release to take his mask off.
“I’m seventeen. I’m almost an adult.”
“Is that why you’re pushing everyone away?”
“I’m not pushing anyone away.” Pepper sees the anger on Peter’s face, but she’s pretty sure it’s from being called out.
“All of the Avengers haven’t seen you since the funeral. You won’t see Morgan, even though she’s dying to meet her big brother-”
 “I’m not her big brother.”
“Saying it doesn’t make it true.”
“Tell yourself that.” Peter crosses his arms and lets a hiss of air out when the skin around his laceration pulls.
“I would, but I was there when Tony and I found out we were pregnant. Tony sat right next to me, promising my stomach that he was going to find a way to bring ‘your big brother Peter’ home. You’re her big brother Peter, you’ve always been her big brother, it’s what Tony wanted. That’s why he did everything, why he perfected time travel, why your picture with him sits in our kitchen just like Morgan’s does. You’re our kid.”
“No I’m just some orphan from Queen’s who’s bad luck is going to get you and your kid killed.” Peter slams his mask back on as he runs out of the apartment.
He shouldn’t have run. Or maybe he shouldn’t have said what he did. That’s just more of a chance to get them killed. But maybe because he voiced it, they’ll actually stay away.
“Peter, we have visitors.” May calls from the living room a few days after the talk Pepper and him had in the tower. To his knowledge, they weren’t expecting someone, but it would be rude not to come out. However, once he sees the familiar strawberry blonde sitting on the couch, he wishes he had ignored May.
“You didn’t say you were coming over?” Peter questions from across the living room.
The five year old spoke before Pepper had a chance too. “You’re being a bad brother.” Morgan’s face shows her anger like Tony’s used to.
“I am?” Morgan nods as if this is something that Peter should already know. “Why’s that?”
“You’ve only been over once and that wasn’t even to play.”
 “I’m sorry?”
 “You should be.”
“Morgan.” Pepper chides from the other side of the couch, but Peter can see the small smile on her face.
“Charlie’s brother came back from being blipped and all they’ve been doing since he got back is playing. Why doesn’t my brother want to play with me?” Peter hadn’t thought about how it would affect Morgan. He was just trying to keep her safe.
“I’ve had school and homework and stuff.”
 “Do you have school today?”
 “No.”
 “Do you have homework?”
“Yeah but it’s not due today.”
“So then can you come play?” Pepper was hoping this plan would work. She had a feeling that once the two of them met, they would be the best of friends. But Peter had been so insistent on staying away, which she would try to talk to him about later. Especially after what he had said the other day.
“I guess I could come play. What do you like to play?” Peter didn’t honestly know that much about Morgan, besides that she was Pepper and Tony’s child. But knowing that, he could assume that she was smart and probably interested in a lot of things.
“Everything!” Morgan throws her arms up like she can’t contain her excitement. “I have a fort and stuffed animals. Barbies and action figures. Craft kits and science experiments.”
“She really does like everything.” Pepper says softly.
“Well I like everything too. I bet we could have tons of fun together.”
“Yay!” Morgan throws herself across the room to hug Peter. He’s surprised to feel the small, warm body. Her hug though, felt entirely like Tony. And in that moment, Peter almost broke. He almost turned around and left the room, pulling himself away from the only piece of Tony left. But there’s something telling him not to. Don’t run.
Morgan refused to go to sleep in her own bed. She was sure that Peter would leave if she went upstairs. So instead, she’s curled up against her big brother, his arm wrapped around her. Each breath she takes moves her small frame ever so slightly and small puffs of air blow against Peter’s chest. At some point, he’ll move her to her room, but not yet. He’s not ready to let go of her either.
“I told you she was dying to meet you.” Peter looks up as Pepper sits down across the way from her kids. True Peter isn’t hers biologically, but ever since Tony brought him into her life, he was hers too.
“She reminds me of an excited Tony.”
“She has a lot of him in her. I see so much of him every day.” Pepper goes quiet for a moment, trying to decide the best way to bring up the conversation that Tony would have already plowed into if he was here. “Can we talk about the other night Peter?”
“I’m fine. I healed by the next morning, just like I said I would.”
“You and I both know that’s not what I was asking about.” Peter pretends to not know what she’s talking about, but Pepper knows he’s not stupid. “Who’s bad luck is going to get you and your kid killed?” Pepper asks, no louder than a whisper as to not wake the little girl asleep in Peter’s arms.
 “Peter Luck.” Peter mumbles.
 “Peter luck?”
“Peter Luck. The luck that if you’re important to Peter Parker you’ll end up dead. It’s my true super power.” Pepper wants nothing more than to pull Peter into her arms and never let go. A seventeen year old should never feel that their superpower is getting their loved ones killed. She may not have the relationship that Tony had with Peter, but she wants to change that. So pushing up from the chair she’s sitting on, Pepper moves to sit next to Peter.
“There is no such thing as Peter Luck that is killing your loved ones. Did life deal you a shitty hand? Possibly. But it’s not you, never you, that causes the people around you to leave.”
“It is though. My parents, Uncle Ben, Tony, they were all close to me and they’re all dead. That’s my fault-”
“But it’s not Peter. You didn’t wield the gun or drive the car. You didn’t force Tony to use the stones. Those were decisions and actions that the universe put into place and it caused a lot of pain, but it was not because of you.” Peter looks up and the tears are shimmering at the edge of his eyes. “You, Peter, are the luck. People are lucky to have you in their life. I’m lucky to have you as my kid and Morgan is lucky to have you as her brother. That’s the Peter Luck, that people are immensely lucky when they get to be a part of your life.”
 “... I’m your kid?”
“I love you just as much as I love Morgan. Pretty sure that means you’re my kid. And I don’t think Tony would have had it any other way. Who are we to go against his wishes?” Pepper wants to wrap her arms around this kid that’s seen too much, but doesn’t want to touch him when she’s not sure if he’s ok with it. But he makes the decision for her, by leaning his head against her shoulder. Her arm wraps around him holding him close. She’s pretty sure a couple of tears slip out and hit her blouse but it’s not the first time one of her kids has cried on her shoulder and won’t be the last most likely. “It’s ok, Peter. Everything is ok.”
 “I miss him, so much.”
“So do I.” Pepper admits, her hand coming up to run through Peter’s curls.
“Why did he have to be the one to save the world?” Peter whispers, trying to keep his tears from turning to sobs and chance waking Morgan. Even as he’s falling apart, he is still worrying about others. Pepper wants to take the burden from him.
“Because he thought it was his responsibility. He wanted to protect those that he loved. You included.”
“Yeah but any of us could have done it.”
“But he wouldn’t have wanted any of you to get hurt.” Pepper continues running her hand through Peter’s curls. “And who would you offer up instead?” That stumps Peter. He doesn’t want to lose someone else. He just wants Tony back.
“We can’t just have Thanos snap himself away?”
“I would love that, but I don’t think he would believe that is perfect harmony.” Peter curls into Pepper’s side, pulling Morgan with him. He knows Pepper is right.
“Screw perfect harmony. Fuck Thanos. I just want Tony here.”
“I’m pretty sure you’re not the only one who feels that way. In fact I’m positive you’re not the only one.” Peter doesn’t say anything but just curls into Pepper a little more. “Morgan asks about Tony at least every other day, if not more. I don’t think she completely understands why he’s gone. And she only had him for a few years.”
“She understands he’s not coming back?”
“Sort of. She understood that people go away, but then there’s people like you, who came back like Tony said you would. So I think part of her thinks that Tony is going to come back too. She’s still a bit too young to completely get it, even with how her mind works.” Peter’s hand comes up to wipe away the stray tear running down his face.
“Well I’ll be here to explain it to her. What else is a big brother for?”
“So much. From couch cushion to explaining how the world works, she got the best one.”

They dealt with all of the above. Ringo was treated as a joke for pretty much everything, especially since this was the era of prog rock. His personal life was also tabloid fodder. George was derided as being a dour spiritual nut who was out of touch. He along w/ Ringo didn't get the respect he deserved as a guitarist bc his style wasn't in at the time & people knew little about his role in The Beatles. All credit went to Lennon/McCartney. 1/2
John had the benefit of having the rebel genius image, but even he became a source of ridicule with all the stunts he pulled with Yoko and the way his career declined after Imagine. He wasn't deified to the degree he was in the 80s. I'm not trying to say Paul never had a hard time, but the way this fandom talks as if he is the only one who faced extreme criticism or disrespect just tells me they haven't looked much into the other Beatles' lives. The man is more admired than most musicians. 2/2

(IDK if this screenshotted anons were from the same person or not, but I’ll just answer them in this one since it’s all the same subject.)
Here’s what I think is valid, as I see it: Paul fans are upset by the way his music was treated by the music press, especially in the first few years of the 70s, while the music of the other three were generally given at least the benefit of the doubt. They’re not upset about the tabloid gossip, the purely personal stuff – they are upset, specifically and with good reason, at the way Paul’s music was treated and the way the music world’s personal dislike of him seeped into their music reviews. I’m gonna focus in on 1970 through the end of 1974, since this is where a lot of the complaints spawn from, and things start to shift in a big way in 74. You didn’t ask but contemporary writings about their early solo music is something I’m fascinated by anyway and you turned the wind-up toy key in my back, so. Off I go. This is gonna be so, so long.
At different points in the decade, all of them were subject to a sullying of their personal reputations. That is where I do agree with you: all of them were subjected to that by the press, to varying degrees, at varying times, and for various reasons for each of them. That is just what happens to public figures the longer they are public figures. Tabloids mess with everyone no matter how beloved they are.
However, that’s not what I generally see Paul fans getting upset about. What I see is that they’re upset at the way the much more legitimate and widely respected music press approached Paul’s music and talent in general. It is widely received knowledge now that the critics treated Paul’s music differently than they did John’s and George’s and even Ringo’s; the trashing was not “equal.” They came at John and George with the assumption that their talent was real and ongoing outside of the Beatles, their genius unquestionable, their motives pure and well-intentioned and honest. Paul was not afforded these assumptions. Some examples to show what I mean, most of them found through wikipedia, rocksbackpages, or rollingstone.com.
John
Plastic Ono Band was Robert Christgau’s number one album of 1970 in The Village Voice. from Creem’s review: “John's record, of course, has been righteously raved over ever since its release, justifiably. It's interesting and even enlightening to see a man working out his trauma on black plastic but more than that, it's totally enthralling to see that Lennon has once again unified, to some degree, his life and his music into a truly whole statement.” From High Fidelity’s review: "a tremendously exciting listening experience, perhaps the best any Beatle has ever offered." In their Imagine review, Rolling Stone called POB “perfect.” A couple reviews in the mainstream were more mixed, put off a little by the rawness of it, but overall the rock world quickly grew to see this album as a work of genius.
Imagine was even more widely well-reviewed, despite a mixed review from Rolling Stone (John fell out with Jann Wenner around this time, curiously). Here’s a passage from rateyourmusic.com: “Imagine was actually one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year, aside from this tepid review in Rolling Stone. Indeed, much of the rock press seemed palpably relieved that the former Beatle hadn't gone completely off the deep end. ‘It's the best album of the year, and for me it's the best album he's done, with anything, or with anyone, at any time,’ Roy Hollingworth wrote in the 10/9/71 issue of Melody Maker. ‘The album is superb,’ Alan Smith agreed in the 9/11/71 issue of NME. ‘Beautiful. One step away from the chill of his recent total self-revelation, and yet a giant leap towards commerciality without compromise...I have no criticism at all.’”
Some Time in New York City was admittedly John’s nadir, and the press was vicious about it, both personally and musically, deeming the album egotistical, lacking in energy, and devoid of sincerity. However, many maintained a reverence for the genius that came before it and hopeful encouragement for the future. Rolling Stone said that “The Lennons should be commended for their daring;” Creem said it wasn’t half bad; and even though NME’s article was scathing, it ended with a plea for John to return to form, saying, “Don't rely on cant and rigidity. Don't alienate. Stimulate. You know, like you used to.”
Mind Games, though reviews were mixed, fared far better in comparison. Again, there is a hopeful tone to the reviews, a sureness that John can do better. From Rolling Stone talks about the music being a return to POB form, but the writing is his worst yet; however, Landau qualifies this by saying the lyrics aren’t “offensive, per se, just misguided... [John Lennon’s admirers] might even be able to withstand something more challenging” and then praises John’s voice, his production, and a few individual songs. In Melody Maker, Ray Coleman says, “if you warm to the rasping voice of Lennon and, like me, regard him as the true fulcrum of much of what came from his old group, then like any new Lennon album, it will be enjoyable and even important.” Christgau is more middling but also says, “Still, the single works, and let's hope he keeps right on stepping.”
Walls and Bridges seems confusing to reviewers in retrospect. They couldn’t seem to come to a consensus on it. The musicianship was widely praised, for the most part, though Rolling Stone criticized the first side on this front; reviewers alternately said it was “the latest chapter in John Lennon’s Identity Crisis” (Creem) and “truly a superb album by any standards” (Melody Maker). Throughout the Rolling Stone review, the author is able to thoroughly critique the songs, for better or worse, with a neutral affect and without resorting to insulting John personally. He ends the review on a positive note: “When one accepts one’s childhood, one’s parenthood and the impermanence which lies between, one can begin to slog along. When John slogs, he makes progress.” Again, even though the reviews aren’t all positive, we can see, especially and most importantly in the most influential rock magazine of the time, the acknowledgment of his talent, a sense of excitement for what John will do next, and a belief that his work is authentic and honest.
George
All Things Must Pass, I mean. Apart from a couple of outliers like Christgau in The Village Voice (he called it “overblown fatuity”), it was incredibly, almost universally beloved by the music press when it came out. There was quite a bit of surprise that such a talent had been under everyone’s noses all this time, but I don’t think anon is quite correct that all the credit for the Beatles went to Lennon/McCartney. For example, Ben Gerson in Rolling Stone recognized George’s talent within the Beatles like this: “Up until now, George has been perhaps the premier studio musician among rock band guitarists. From the electronic whine which began “I Feel Fine” to the break in “Hard Day’s Night” to the crazed, sitar-influenced burst on “Taxman,” George exhibited an avant-garde imagination and a technical flawlessness, as well as the ability to stay within the bounds of a song, which has remained unparalleled.” In Melody Maker, the feeling of journalists was summed up thusly: hearing the album was “the rock equivalent of the shock felt by pre-war moviegoers when Garbo first opened her mouth in a talkie: Garbo talks! – Harrison is free!" The personal nature and honesty of the lyrics were praised as well; Time described it as an “expressive, classically executed personal statement.” Ben Gerson did call his proselytizing offensive, but in the next sentence says that George redeems himself from that with the personal plea in Hear Me Lord.
Concert for Bangla Desh - again, some cynicism from Christgau in The Village Voice (must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day) and of course tax issues dogged it later, but overall, for the rock press at the time, this was a crowning achievement that George pulled off. He was praised all over the press, countercultural and mainstream, for his live musical talent, the group of musicians that joined him, the lack of political motivation, the sincerity and goodwill, and George’s ability to bring back  "a brief incandescent revival of all that was best about the Sixties" (Rolling Stone). To this day he is credited with creating the model for future charity concerts.
Living in the Material World - Nothing could have topped the one-two punch of ATMP and the Concert for Bangla Desh, but honestly, LITMW came pretty close for some journalists. Rolling Stone again praised George’s honesty and authenticity: “ Despite the occasional use of “psychedelic puns,” Harrison’s lyrics are so guileless they convey an extraordinary sincerity that transcends questions of craftsmanship. Similarly, the devotions we are called upon to share with Harrison, though they communicate no specific, private torment, do have the authenticity of overheard prayers and are therefore sacred.” Melody Maker said, "Harrison has always struck me before as simply a writer of very classy pop songs; now he stands as something more than an entertainer. Now he's being honest." The pushback against his pious attitude and lyrics picked up some steam with this album, particularly with Christgau (again) and Tony Tyler of NME, who called it “so damn holy I could scream.” However, it was far from the consensus opinion at the time, and with the biggest rock magazine in the world at your back, you can withstand quite a bit.
Dark Horse, oof. That poor man. It did get some positivity in Billboard and Melody Maker, but my god, the reviews for this album and its subsequent tour were so cruel. I suspect when these anon(s) talk about the others being treated terribly by the press as well, this, along with John’s STINYC, is one of the examples they would give, and they’re not wrong about that. This was the point where George’s piety and what they perceived as a sanctimonious attitude finally started really getting to everyone, and the album plus the tour was the perfect opportunity to dogpile on him. I guess it was to be expected; no one can ride that high forever, and the press loves to knock people over and kick them while they’re down. Rolling Stone called it “disastrous,” “shoddy,” and called his guitar work “rudimentary,” eventually declaring that George had “never been a great artist.” This from the same magazine that was practically worshipping at his feet the year before. Yowch.
Ringo
Sentimental Journey - The less that’s said about this album, the better.
Beaucoups of Blues was actually quite well-received. No one called him a genius for it, and it wasn’t a serious personal record and therefore wasn’t treated that way, but journalists seemed uniquely able to let themselves enjoy this record despite the serious/political/personal tone of most musicians at the time. Melody Maker believed Ringo had  "conviction and charm" and that because of that, the album stripped away the serious “hip posturing” and let you just enjoy the music on its own terms. The Village Voice said that Ringo was “good at making himself felt.” Although Rolling Stone’s tone was a bit more cruel than other magazines (there was a crack somewhere in there that Ringo wasn’t as smart as John), it also called him lovable and the record “a real winner” where the songs “sound terrific.”
Ringo was a total smash and I think people forget this. It’s remembered only because it’s an album that was worked on by all four Beatles, but actually, the critics fuckin loved it. Ringo was praised in Rolling Stone for his unpretentiousness, sensibility, and essentially collaborative nature: “Ringo was always the figure of conciliation within the Beatles, undoubtedly the most genial, conceivably the most sensible, and the one with the smallest musical axe to grind. His very lapses bespoke the esteem in which the others held him; had they not liked him so much, those perfectionists would never have allowed him to sing. Perhaps because as the drummer he stood outside the process of creation, he had the best perspective from which to see the Beatles as a unity. Ringo has never had any pretense of self-sufficiency. Once he had gotten his special projects out of the way (projects for which John, Paul and George's talents would have been unsuited anyway) Ringo was ready to call upon the three most obvious people to assist him with writing, singing and playing. As Starr's first "pop album," Ringo signifies a homecoming, not just of family, but in musical style as well.”
Goodnight Vienna was kind of a minor album for Ringo, but still, reviews were pretty good. Rolling Stone praised his “unalloyed sincerity which is his trademark and trump card.” Yet again, we see the theme of authenticity popping up in these reviews - if you are perceived as authentic, honest, and sincere, that takes you a long way with music reviewers in this time period, and Ringo was nothing if not wholly, completely himself.
Paul
McCartney - One of the main complaints of Paul fans is that Jann Wenner forced Langdon Winner, the author of the review for this album in Rolling Stone, to rewrite his article and put a more negative spin on it. The result is that Winner praised most of the music but totally undermined his own praise by questioning the authenticity of the tone and deriding the press release that came with the album as much as he praised the music. He ends the article like this: “I like McCartney very much. But I remember that the people of Troy also liked that wooden horse they wheeled through their gates until they discovered that it was hollow inside and full of hostile warriors.” This was a huge blow at a time when personal authenticity and substance were considered paramount. Melody Maker also questioned the legitimacy of his genius, saying “With this record, [McCartney's] debt to George Martin becomes increasingly clear.” Most other reviews weren’t any better.
Ram, I mean, Jesus Christ the reviews for this. It’s a widely respected album now, even made the RS top 500 albums of all time list last year, but at the time people were still so angry with Paul for supposedly breaking up the Beatles that they were still taking it out on his music a year later (imo). Landau in Rolling Stone called it “emotionally vacuous” and said it lacked conviction, saying also that it was “so incredibly inconsequential and so monumentally irrelevant you can’t even [hate it]; it is difficult to concentrate on, let alone dislike or even hate.” NME called it “the worst thing Paul McCartney has ever done.” Threaded through these reviews is a belief that the songs are devoid of meaning and that Paul’s happy domestic front is just a frustrating lie; Christgau in The Village Voice said he was “infuriated by the McCartneys' modern young-marrieds image” - infuriated because he clearly doesn’t believe it, rendering Paul dishonest and his music inauthentic. Once again journalists are unable to review Paul’s music without sniping about him as a person.
Wild Life - Though the situation remains largely the same - reviewers refuse to take him seriously, believe anything he says, or treat his musical talent as anything but vacuous fluff - the reviews aren’t quite as bad as they were for Ram and a bit of positivity begins to stir. It’s evident especially in the Rolling Stone review, where Mendelsohn wonders if Paul is making crappy fluff on purpose to piss John off because it will sell just as well anyway. It’s not much, and on top of the fairly strong criticism there is almost no hope for future Paul releases: “My own conviction is that we'd be foolish to expect anything much more earth-shaking than Wild Life out of McCartney for a good long while... In the meantime the reader is advised to either develop a fondness for vacuous but unpretentious pop music or look elsewhere for musical pleasure.” But it’s something.
Red Rose Speedway Paul continues to be lambasted by a lot of the press on this album for being lightweight and having no meaning behind his songs (at this point it’s just repetitive to quote the articles, just trust me that they say basically the same thing they were saying for the past three albums too), BUT I think a nuance that gets forgotten in all of this is that Rolling Stone gave it kind of a decent review. It seems like they finally quit gatekeeping and realized that songs don’t need to have some deep personal meaning to be good. Kaye is still not very nice about Paul’s lyrics but he recognizes that he doesn’t have to take Paul’s music on the same terms as he takes John and George. Paul’s music is less personal, but that doesn’t make it unworthy. He calls it “pleasant, accessible without concentration” and praises Paul’s voice and arranging skills. It feels like for this album, Rolling Stone took the stick out of its own ass when it came to Paul and finally relaxed enough to receive Paul’s music on his terms rather than theirs. Which, imo, primed the rock world for...
Band on the Run, Paul’s comeback. Even though Christgau in The Village Voice remained unconvinced (he called it “a pleasant piece of hackwork”), almost everyone else adored it. It seems weird to us now, but the general sentiment seemed to be that people were surprised by how good this album was. NME said, “The ex-Beatle least likely to re-establish his credibility and lead the field has pulled it off with a positive master-stroke”; and although Landau’s review in Rolling Stone overflowed with praise, he also said, “I'm surprised I like Band on the Run so much more than McCartney's other solo albums because, superficially, it doesn't seem so different from them.”
I hope I’ve been able to demonstrate a general trajectory with the musical reputation of each Beatle here. John starts off on two incredible high points, crashes and burns, and then works his way back up. He DEFINITELY missed with STINYC, but even when he followed it up with Mind Games, there was still a hopeful tone to the reviews, sort of like, “Ah, well, the last two weren’t great but we’re still looking forward to what John will give us next.” Until the Dark Horse tour/album, which did sour the press on poor George, the music press adored him. It was hit after hit with him. He could not miss. Three high points, one after the other, then a monumental crash. Ringo seems to stay fairly high, even if the records aren’t serious records. All three of them start out incredibly well, and the music press was able and willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Paul was given none of that. Perhaps because he was out of step with the attitudes about music at the time, perhaps because journalists hated him for breaking up the Beatles, perhaps because they believed John when he painted Paul as “establishment,” perhaps a combination - whatever their issue was, Paul was given no benefit of the doubt to start with, no faith in his genius, and no belief in his authenticity. He was just a hack to the music press for the first few years of the 70s; he started at the bottom and was forced to work his way up, unlike the other three. It started, imo, when Wenner forced the journalist who wrote the McCartney review in RS to rewrite the article, and it spiraled from there. He was seen as hollow and uncool, as one of the anons said, “straight” in the parlance of the time - straight meaning “establishment.” This is kind of where I do start to roll my eyes a little bit at stans, when they get upset at people calling him “establishment” and trying to prove that actually he was so anti-establishment that people couldn’t handle it or whatever, without trying to understand what the word “anti-establishment” meant at the time. But there are also really substantive arguments you can make that say Paul’s music was not taken seriously because of a personal grudge against him.
I’m not saying that all of them didn’t have run-ins with the music press. I’m saying there is nuance here that I don’t think these anons are allowing for in the first few years of that decade. They came at George and John and Ringo with a positive, or at least neutral, slant most of the time. They came at Paul with a negative one. Case in point are the reviews of Band on the Run that were surprised at how good it was. That stuff gets people’s hackles up. The others didn’t have positive reviews rewritten to be more negative. The others didn’t have albums savaged that are now on the Rolling Stone top 500 albums of all time list. I do agree that John, at least, and George post Dark Horse, had a harder time with the music press than people generally remember or care to think about – deification is retroactive, I guess, and as Paul fans we should definitely recognize that Paul wasn’t the only one who went through a rough time with the press. But I do think Paul’s situation was made uniquely and unjustifiably difficult for those first few years.
I mean, at the same time, I cannot stress enough how much this did not affect his bottom line. Despite the horrible reviews, Ram still made a ton of money, McCartney made a ton of money, Band on the Run and Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway all made a ton of money. He had a fanbase, a huge one, that followed him loyally and faithfully through the early 70s as he was getting savaged by the press, and through the middle and late 70s when he was touring. At some point, you have to step back and go, wait. Why does any of this matter? This was 50 years ago. He was a multi-millionaire then and is a billionaire now. And you are right; whenever people over-generalize and try to make the case that Paul was always badly reviewed and the others were press darlings, I tend to get annoyed because they’re totally missing the actually interesting nuances of the situation (that can be easily found online! I found most of the music reviews through snippets on Wikipedia!) In conclusion, I guess my point is that both “Paul was vilified while everyone else wasn’t” and “everyone was equally vilified” paint the events of the early 70s with brushes that are too broad and miss the nuance that was evident in the way the press interacted with their music.

Out of the Water - Chapter V
Synopsis: You were very proud to be a mermaid, thank you very much. You didn’t want to be where the people were. Actually, you’d rather avoid it. Defending the merfolk was the biggest goal in your life… well, it was until you meet a certain pirate… it seems that your family really had a thing for humans, after all. Not that you’d ever admit it…
Pairing: Harry x reader
Word count: 4514
Part 5 of ?
Warnings: none? Possibly grammar mistakes? Also, some cuss words
A/N: English isn’t my first language, so I’ll probably mess up some tenses, grammar and stuff. Go easy on me, please. Feedback is always appreciated.
The sun was fading away in the horizon and soon it would be dark and, as you walked, you wondered why everything in this damned kingdom had to be so far away? Didn't they have magic carpets or something like that? Besides, since it was getting darker by the second, the sense of urgency was growing too. You had the feeling that Audrey was just playing with you - she obviously knew where you were, so why she didn't make a move yet? It was like a cat and mouse game and you were the mice heading towards a trap. Also, Mal having the Amber did not put your mind at ease since you didn't have the advantage.
You were literally entering to the lion's lair willingly.
"What happened between you and Hook?" You raised an eyebrow and Evie, who had come to talk to you, explained. "We heard the screaming. I know he can be difficult to deal with, but soon we'll all be in Auradon together".
Evie was way too good for this world, wasn't she? You didn't have the heart to contradict her or tell the atrocity the pirate had done to you.
"I know, sweetie. Don't worry, I'll try to be civil, even if the person in question is an utterly jerk who deserves a punch".
She sighed, looking almost disappointed. Obviously, you didn't give the answer she was hoping for but honestly, what was she expecting from you? Moreover, your response was nice enough, considering Harry was annoying and a water thief.
"That's a beginning, I suppose. But I think we can work on the aggressive attitude, though" she said with a shrug.
Oh, maybe you should have skipped the punching part... If she thought that was violent, you hoped she never found out that you almost chopped Harry's finger off, then.
As the time passed you grew impatient, it was already night and no one was in a chatty mood anymore. As for you, you've never wished for a day to end so fast and, on top of that, something else was bothering you and it was not the perspective of facing Psycho Audrey. Maybe it was the fact that once everything was over, Mal would let the kids off the Isle (it was what she had promised, after all). However, as much as you want to believe her, you had your doubts. Either way, nothing would ever be the same.
Finally, you arrived at Fairy Cottage and crossed the garden very quietly, trying not to draw attention to yourselves. When you finally got at the building, Ben burst the door open.
Great way to go unnoticed.
However, in the end, it didn't matter because Audrey wasn't there and your little journey had been a waste of time, thereby she was still on the loose and you had no one idea where she could be or what she was planning to do (but whatever it was, it would be unpleasant). Suddenly, the sound of a bustling knock filled the air startling everybody.  Ben followed the source of the disturbence and discovered a very scared Chad locked in the pantry.
The poor thing looked completely distressed and hysterical and, soon after, he mumbled some nonsense and rushed off without a second thought.
"Well, at least he is pretty" you said out loud. How Cinderela could have had such a foolish son was beyond your comprehension, but his golden locks made up for the lack of discernment.
Harry laughed and the clumsy encounter with Chad lifted everyone's spirit and, when you left the Cottage, there weren't Mal's gang or Uma's crew anymore, just friends trying to save the world. Even if you were all doomed; at least you'd end up things in good terms.
Yeah, that's what you naively thought.
Evie told Ben about Mal's promise and apparently Mal had had other plans that she didn't bother sharing with anyone: she was going to close the barrier for good. No more in, no more out.
Nothing serious or extreme.
No reason to freak out...
Holly shit!
You felt like a fool!
Just to think that you gave your word to Harry and Gil that Ben wouldn't do that! You were so mad that you couldn't even talk and it never happened before! Also, you didn't have the heart to face Uma, not after you said to her things were changing for the better. You knew how Uma pretended to be tough, but right now her spirit had been shattered...
Harry confronted Ben about the lie and you thought he'd lose his shit and gut someone, but he just looked completely broken, like someone had taken away his will to fight. Even though Harry and Uma knew pain and betrayal, they didn't expect this. They trusted the people of Auradon were different and they were let down.
Things weren't suppose to go this way! You wanted to do something! Anything! But what?
It was then that Celia took the amber from Mal's hand and threw it into the water. Well, if you were screwed before, now you were hopeless. At least it was for a good cause, if people in Auradon thought their lives were worthier than the life of the inhabitants of the Isle, let them rot. You couldn't even be mad at Uma for leaving since that was what you wanted to do too, but you knew there was nothing you could do to help her in this moment. Actually, you knew Uma well enough to know that going after her would only bother her.
The words Harry said to you earlier about Auradon's privilege echoed in your mind and you couldn't stay put anymore.
"I know this is not my place to say something. I mean, most of the time I'm not even here, I'm not a VK and closing the barrier doesn't affect my life... but it does. It does because there are people there, good people destined to live a dreadful life just because they were born on that Isle! People in Auradon have been living their perfect little lives where everything is pretty and colorful while we claim to be the good guys, but what we have done to the villains and their kids is atrocious! There will always be good and evil, that's how life works and we can't run away from it. Deciding which path to follow is what defines someone's true self, but in order to make this decision we need to have a chance. Mal, you of all people should know that, you had a chance and now that your life is good you want to deny those children the same opportunity? From this day on, every time you play 'happily ever after' with your prince charming, know that you are doing it at the expense of a child on that Isle"
You wish you had heard Mal's reply, but as soon as you finished talking, the world froze.
                                                     _______
Legend says that you were indeed the hottest stone statue in Auradon, but it didn't soothe you a bit. To say you were pissed was not nearly enough to express what you were feeling right now. If Audrey weren't already dying, you would have gladly killed her yourself. The only reason why you were still in the awful human world was Uma... this, and also because becoming stone had consumed all your energies and right now you were way too busy drinking a huge bottle of salted water to not die of dehydration.
Your grandfather would have to choose another diplomat because you were never ever setting foot on land again.
Maybe, if you weren't so angry, you would have choked on your drink when Mal told Hades was her father.
It explained a lot about her, though.
So, Hades, Mal's father, was the only one who could save Audrey and they were going to fetch him on the Isle to help the dying girl. Oh! The double standard! When a kid from Auradon curses everybody is "a mistake", but if someone from the Isle does that is "they are too dangerous, let's lock them up forever". Is it fair? No. Does anyone care? Also no.
You thought it couldn't get any worse, but boy, you were wrong. Uma just said she was going back to the Isle, which was pretty understandable and expected, but you had one itty-bitty tiny hope that she would stay.
Oh, on top of that, everyone accepted Mal and Ben's selfish decision to close the barrier. You scoffed under your breath, salted water wasn't enough to deal with all this, you needed something stronger, like vodka. The good thing was, since everyone was leaving and your cousins were safe, you had no more business in the human world and you took your cue from the VKs to announce your own departure too.
You waited for the limo alongside Uma, Harry, Gil and Celia, the atmosphere was tense, and you had seen happier people at funerals.
"I thought you were going back to Atlantica" the teal haired girl said, breaking the overwhelming silence.
"I'll go with you... until we reach the barrier, at least" your voice was more hoarse than you expected it to.
"Yeah, don't want to risk getting trapped, right?" If this was supposed to be a mean comment, Harry had failed; he just sounded sad, like everyone else. The pirate wasn't expecting an answer but you gave him one, anyway.
"I wouldn't mind going to the Isle, but there is no magic there and no magic means no legs for me, so you would be stuck with a mermaid... unless you don't care to carry me around..." you half-joked.
The car finally arrived and you got into it. It was nice that Ben sent the limo to pick up the VKs, and the guard's vehicle was going ahead, probably to go find Hades. There was all sorts of food in the limo, but no one touched them because all of you were way too lost in your own minds to be hungry. As you were approaching the Isle the unsettling feeling in your stomach grew worst and there was definitely something wrong with your eyes. Just before the car crossed the barrier, you asked the driver to stop. For one second, it seemed he would argue against it, but you gave him a warning look, since you weren't in the mood for more useless fights.
"Uma, can we talk outside for one second, please?" you asked.
You two got out of the car and, as soon as Uma closed the door, you hugged her.
"I'm sorry, Uma. I'm so sorry" the only thing you could do was to repeat how sorry you were, but you knew your apologies didn't change anything.
"I know" she reassured you, looking in your eyes "It's not your fault, you shouldn't be apologizing".
"Someone has to" you said, your felt so tight in your chest that hurt. Then, Uma smiled and hold your hand.
"Thanks for everything you've done for me. I don't know how I would have gone through the past months without you"
"You'd have done just fine, you're a fighter" it was now or never, you lowered your voice so even if someone in the car was paying attention to the conversation, they wouldn't hear you "You can still change your mind, let's go back to Atlantica and, before you interrupt me, Harry and Gil can come too. I have no idea how this is going to work but we'll figure it out" you offered her - you had to try.
"You know I can't abandon the Isle, speacially now" her eyes were full of sorrow, she knew exactly what meant to go back "Maybe you can swim near the barrier so we can see each other from time to time".
You knew she would say that, but it didn't mean it hurt any less.
"Definitely!" you tried to sound cheerful, but the words that left your mouth were robotic and fake "We'll see each other again".
This was a lie, even if you saw each other it would never be the same. The realization hit you hard and that weird feeling that you had in the car, finally made sense when streams of salt water started falling from your eyes.
"I'm leaking!" you freaked out "What is that?! I'm leaking!"
"You're crying, you idiot" she laughed, her eyes watering too.
"Nonsense, mermaids don..." before you could complete the sentence, Uma hugged you again, which made you start crying even harder.
No, not crying, leaking.
"I promise, Uma. I'll not stop fighting for the Isle. I'll talk to Mal, Ben or whoever I must to! They will change their minds, even if, in order to do so, I have to summon up the wrath of the ocean upon them".
You didn't know how long you two stayed crying in each others arms but a voice with a thick accent called both of you after a while.
"Are you ladies alright?" Harry asked. The pirate and Gil were standing there next to both of you. The dark haired boy had a hint of curiosity on his face but he knew better than to tease his captain.
You two pulled away from the hug, Uma looked slightly embarassed to get caught in such an emotional moment.
"I can't believe I'm leaking" you said while trying to wipe away the tears from your eyes; however, they insisted on falling down.
This was so awkward.
"You're not leaking, you're crying" Gil's brow furrowed "Don't you know what crying is?"
"Yes, I do... it's just I've never cried before..." you said between sobs.
"Wow, life in Auradon must be really perfect if people don't even cry here" for the firts time since you met him, he sounded sad. The boy was probably thinking about all the opportunities he would never have in Auradon because he was destined to live on the Isle forever.
They took away Gil's bright smile and you could not forgive that.
"It's not that... I live in the sea, tears don't fall when you are under water" you explained, finally calming down.
"Maybe the ocean is just a big pool of mermaid's tears." Gil said absently, eyeing the vast blue ocean in front of him and you couldn't help but hug the blonde boy too.
The Sea Bitch was such a softie.
"It was a pleasure to meet you, Gil. I wish we had more time to know each other better, but I know for sure that you're loyal, brave and gentle. I hope you are very happy. You deserve it".
You broke apart short after and Gil seemed very touched by your words.
"Thanks... that was one of nicest things that someone ever said to me" he offered you a shy smile "I wish you the same".
You looked at Harry, who looked back right into your eyes. You stared at each other until you hold out your hand, which he accepted. It was weird, Harry Hook has gotten on your nerves since the very first moment you met. He was smug, annoying and a little crazy, but at the same time he was very funny and fearless, qualities that you admired. You wanted to say something, but before you could open your mouth he let go of your hand.
That was it, then.
You also said goodbye to Celia and wished her the best. Then, the VKs got into the car again and, since Harry was the last one standing outside, you took the chance to ask him a favor.
"Please, take care of Uma"
His face broke into small smile and he nodded slightly.
You watched with a shattered heart the limo cross the barrier, taking away your friends from you forever.
There was nothing else you could do, so you jumped into the ocean and disappeared between the waves.
Not an hour ago all you wanted was to be back home, but now everything seemed pointless. For the last months Uma lived in Atlantica and going back without her gave you a knot in the stomach, things wouldn't be the same anymore without your friend there. The two of you used to spend hours plotting ways to get everyone off the Isle, finding a hole in the barrier or just talking about the future... and now you had nothing but crushed hopes. Of course you wouldn't give up, but you felt like you had moved backwards 10 spaces in the game, you fought for the merfolk on the Isle for so long and when it finally seemed that everything was going to be fine, it was a lie.
You were so absorbed in your thoughts that you didn't pay attention to where you were heading, which caused you to bump into your mother and younger brother.
"Where have you been"? Attina asked, her voice was somewhere between angry and concerned, but it was impossible to miss the vein popping out on her forehead "I was worried sick about you!"
"Sorry mom, I was in Auradon" you told her, knowing very well that this answer would only upset her more because there was no way she hadn't hear about Audrey and her little mishap.
"Auradon?!" The look of horror on her face made clear that she knew about what happened and wasn't happy about it. If humans thought you were hardcore, it was because they never talked to your mother "Do you know what Sleeping Beauty's daughter did?"
If you knew? You lived and survived it.
"I heard even Uma was there! Your grandfather was almost sending guards to look for you and your cousins! What happened?"
"Did you finally meet Uma, then?" your brother, Nereus, joined the conversation. He didn't know anything about Uma or that you two were friends. Also, he had no idea that he had talked to her many times when she was under the charm spell.
Then, your mother called by your full name, which never meant something good.
"You weren't there in hopes to befriend Ursula's daughter and bring all the merfolk from the Isle to Atlatica, were you?" Your mother knew you so well... and she wasn't happy.
"Of course not, mom..." I'm already friends with Uma, you added mentally.
Before she started complaining, you explained everything that happened that day (ok, almost everything, you definitely skipped some parts). Her disapproval face grew to the point her vein was ready to explode, while your brother gasped and cheered at the most exciting parts, as you told the story. Under other circumstances you would have narrated the events in a dramatic and majestic way, not sparing any single detail; however, it was way too painful to remember that was your first and last adventure with Uma and her crew.
"Will they close the barrier forever for real?" Nereus asked and, when you nodded, he offered you a sympathetic smile. He knew how much you fought for the merpeople on the Isle.
Your mother, on the other hand, had other things bothering her.
"So, you tell me that they let a bunch of kids fight against a delusional girl who held one of the most dangerous tools of dark magic in the kingdom? Where were Fairy Godmother, the Blue Fairy, the 3 Good Fairies? You can't trust fairies, that's what I always say to your grandfather! Where were Belle and the Beast? Any adults?!" as she talked, her voice got more and more high-pitched, until she was practically shouting.
"They were probably under Audrey's spell" you enlightned her, even knowing that it would not ease her mind one bit.
"That's an absurd! How can we trust our kids to go to Auradon Prep if they can't keep the security system of a museum working properly?!"
You and your brother exchanged looks. Although your mother had a valid point, you didn't want to hear any of it, which was odd, because you never missed the opportunity to roast the human world.
Claiming to be tired, you excused yourself and swam to your room and, as soon as you got there, you glanced at the spot where Uma would used to stay, knowing that you'd probably never talk to her again. You felt like someone was crushing your heart and if you weren't under the sea, tears would be rolling down your face. You lay on the bed, trying to stop thinking about Uma, the Isle and everything. It was a good thing that you were exhausted, so you soon fell into a dreamless sleep.
You weren't sure how much time had passed, but, suddenly, you were woken by someone knocking on your door. You cursed under your breath, who, in the seven seas, was disturbing you right now? Not even bothering to look up, you invited whoever was at your door to come in, you heard them entering and closing the door and, after a moment, you felt the weight of someone sitting on your bed.
They coughed and you recognized the deep voice that belonged to none other than your grandfather, King Triton.
"Grandpa!" you sat up quickly and hugged him.
"Hello, my dear" everyone feared your grandfather for he had quite a dauntless reputation (even you had to admit that he was frightening sometimes), also, his temper was known in all Auradon. However, when he looked at you with those gentle eyes, you forgot he was the King of the ocean, in these moments he was just your grandfather and you fell protected and loved near him.
"Oh grandpa, it was dreadful and I'm misarable" you hugged him again, hiding your face on his neck.
"Your mother told me what happened and that King Ben wants to close the barrier" his voice was so calm that it was difficult to imagine that when he was angry he could create storms and tsunamis.
"That's horrible. I feel so powerless and guilty! I know most of people think everyone in the Isle is evil but that's not true! They are kind and loyal and they don't deserve to be doomed to perish in that place! You should have seem their faces when Mal told them the program had been shut down" your grandfather wasn't know for his love for villains, everytime someone brought Ursula up he got riled up and changed the subject quickly, but you needed to speak out.
"And who are 'they' that you're talking about?" he asked, stroking you hair softly to confort you.
"You know... Celia, Gil, Harry... and Uma" you were nervous to talk about Uma with him. Actually, despite him knowing that you were in charge for her "search party" you have never discussed that you wanted to bring her to Atlantica, even more that you had brought her to the palace clandestinely and that she lived under his roof for months.
"Uma?" his voice was stern when he said your friend's name.
"Grandpa" you straightned up and looked him in the eye "I know it must be hard for you because Ursula caused great pain to our family but Uma has nothing to do with it, she is brave, smart and care so much about other people. She had the chance to stay in Auradon but she came back to the Isle because she couldn't abandon them! She might has taken some questionable decisions, but who hasn't? She was fighting for what she believed was right! Isn't it what you taught me?"
King Triton furrowed his brows; the wrinkles in his forehead were visible which could only mean he was deliberating something.
"You do seem to know a lot about her" he said after a while, his voice and face were severe and you swallowed... this conversation was taking a dangerous path.
"Well... I..."
Before you could finish the sentence, your grandfather cut you off.
"I know what you did"
You froze, he couldn't possibly be talking about Uma living in Atlantica. There was no way he knew that, if he had had any suspicion of what you did, he would have been beyond furious, so you tried to play cool.
"What are you talking about, grandpa?"
He raised an eyebrow and sighed.
"I know you brought Uma to live here in Atlantica"
And then you died.
The end.
Oh wait.
You weren't dead... but you were sure your grandfather just told you that he knew about Uma... Something was terribly wrong. He probably noticed your bulging eyes and horrified expression because he elucidated soon after.
"I raised seven daughters, my darling. I don't need my trident to see through a charm spell and a lie" it was weird, his voice was strangely serene and he looked slightly amused.
"But... how... like... why... Aren't you angry?" there weren't enough words to describe your shock right now.
"I learned to trust the people I love a long time ago, even when we don't agree on the subject." his tone was solemn and wise and it made you feel so small and pathetic because you knew you had disappointed him.
"I'm sorry, grandpa.... I'm sorry that I lied to you and that I disappointed you, but I'm not sorry for what I did" you didn't have the courage to look him in the eyes, but he lifted up your face and smiled.
"You didn't disappoint me. I trusted you enough to let you do what you thought was right, that was what I taught you. And considering everything I saw in the last months, I believe Uma is a good girl and I'm glad you're friends"
You returned his smile, not in your wildest dreams you thought your grandfather would understand this and it made you so glad how supportive and understanding he was about everything.
"I'm sorry for lying to you! I won't do it again" you promised him.
"You're young, you will" he laughed it off "But trust me when I say that I'll be by your side no matter what"
Everything should be perfect; however, there were a bitter feeling in your mouth and a knot in the pit of your stomach that you couldn't get rid of. In the end, it didn't matter if your grandfather trusted Uma or not, because she would be trapped on the Isle forever.
"So… I think I need your help" you bit your lip, uncertain of how to say it "We can't let them close the barrier for good, but I don't know what to do!"
"Don't worry, I promised I'll talk to King Ben about this. They can't just close the barrier like this without measuring the consequences" he reassured you "Now, rest, my darling. You had a long day"
He got up and swan towards your door, but before leaving he turned his head and said.
"Otherwise, you have my permission to summon up the wrath of the ocean upon them" he winked at you and left.
"Wait" you whispered to yourself "How does he even know?"
And then it hit you.
"SEBASTIAN!"
