🌊 the water within 🌊 elemental realities ('earthly wellness comprehension' project)
Loneliness is an often misperceived human experience. In aloneness, the soul becomes a siren and produces enchanting wails, drawing you towards the undiscovered depths of yourself. Until you learn what it takes to make the deep dive and study all that lives there, that urgent pull may seem as terrifying and painful as a near-death drowning episode. And, in the end, all that seeking into your own bioluminescence in those low-down spaces illuminates you to abilities for expansion and flow. - @sidewalkchemistry
Tip: in these periods, take baths with healing sea salts and seaweeds & keep hydrated (with water, demulcent herbal teas, hydrating fruits & veggies, healthy fats, and physical activity)
Art: "You Lagoon" by Casey Weldon / "The Invisible Path" by Tuco Amalfi / unknown / "WIshbone Ash, Twin Rivers" (Unused Album Cover) by Storm Thorgerson

Everything You Need to Know About Herbs: Mandrake (Root)
Mandrake (Atropa Mandragora, Mandragora officinale)
*Poisonous *Medical Herb *Masculine
Tumblr media
Folk names: Alraun, Anthropormorphon, Baaras, Brain Thief, Circerium, Ciroea, Galgenmannchen (Germain: Witches’ Mannilda), Ladykins, Mandragen, Mandragor, Mannikin, Raccoon Berry, Semihomo, Wild Lemon, Womandrake, Zauberurirzel (German: Sorcerer’s Root)
Planet: Mercury, Uranus
Element: Fire, Earth
Deities: Hecate, Hathor
Abilities: Protection, Fertility, Money, Love, Health, and Curse (Death)
Why Poisonous?: Contains toxic tropane alkaloids such as hyoscyamine and scopolamine. Tropane alkaloids are powerful anticholinergic agents and causes peripheral symptoms (dry mouth and blurred vision) and central effects (drowsiness and delirium) and can also cause vomiting, difficulty swallowing and abdominal pain.
*Do not consume!
Characteristics: Are perennial herbs with thick, often forked roots that resemble human legs. They produce violet flowers and small berries which were reportedly eaten raw as a delicacy.
History: Is referred to in the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible as the herb of fertility. However, the likeness of the root to a human figure caused it to be feared by many as it was thought to been embodied by a demon. It is said that when pulled, a mandrake root will let out a horrible, shrieking scream that is lethal to one’s ears. A book founded from the year 1870 gave instructions on how to make a homunculus (a small human servant) by using a mandrake root to represent the body. During the Middle Ages, it was used as a charm to ward off scammers and little roots were used to wish for pregnancy.
Growing Mandrake:
Easy to Grow? No.
Rating: Expert
Seeds Accessible: No
Mandrake Planting
Video Guide
Where to Buy Seeds
Magical Usage:
Can be used for binding, strengthening, protection and power
Can be used to represent a person for love spells and healing (potentially can be used to represent a person for curses but I do not recommend)
Was used as a poppet for image magic
A whole root can be placed on the mantle of your home for protection, fertility and prosperity
Can exorcise demons
Can be hung on a headboard of your bed for better sleep, attract love, and prevent illness
Medical Usage:
Was used as a narcotic
Used to knock out patients for surgery and relieve pain
Used to reverse infertility

Content warnings: Abuse, emotional abuse, unhealthy power dynamics (takes place when Majexatli was 18/19, snapshot of their relationship with Althyran)
//
“I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t care about you, Asha,”
Althyran’s tired frown was just visible in the small looking glass in front of Majexatli. Majexatli bit their tongue, stopping themselves from saying something rash, holding back a whimper as Althyran’s comb snagged on a knot in their hair.
“I know,” Majexatli said eventually.
“You have so much potential, you’ve come so far by my side, look at all that I’ve helped you accomplish. Where you be without me? What would you have without me? Who would look out for you if I wasn’t there?”
“I know, I’m sorry,” Majexatli winced as his comb once again pulled harshly at a knot.
Whether the apology or their pain, something made Althyran pause for a moment. After a beat of silence, Althyran untangled their hair now with a sudden gentleness.
He sighed.
“It’s alright, darling, I don’t mean to be harsh on you. I love you, you know that, right?”
“I know, it’s alright,”
“No, no, it’s not, I know you’re only doing your best, you just didn’t know. I’ve just been so stressed, but I shouldn’t take it out on you. Let me make it up to you?”
Althyran set down the comb on the table and wrapped his arms around Majexatli, pressing a gentle kiss to their shoulder.
“You don’t have to—”
“I want to, Asha, here,” Althyran pulled back, reaching into his satchel and pulling out something Majexatli couldn’t see, “I was hoping to wait for a special occasion, but I got you something. Put out your hands,”
Into Majexatli’s open hands, Althyran placed a beautiful silver hair stick, one of ornate elven design set with a piece of polished turquoise. It looked like it cost more gold than Majexatli had ever seen in their life.
“I— I can’t accept this—”
“Of course you can, you deserve it,” Majexatli could see the way he smiled as he wrapped his arms around them again, “Plus, it’s magical. The stone will let me find you wherever you are, so you never have to be alone,”
Never having to be alone again… it was all Majexatli wanted. Althyran’s honeyed words pushed the pain and anxiety out of their mind.
Majexatli held the hair stick close to their chest, “Thank you…”
Althyran kissed their bruised temple before standing up.
“Did you extract the swarming toadstool?”
“Yes,”
Majexatli nodded to their bag. They moved to grab it, but Althyran beat them to it, pulling out the small glass jar filled with a pale yellow-green dust.
“Excellent work, it’s perfect. You’ve come so far since we first started,”
The praise warmed something in Majexatli’s chest, they could even feel tears welling up in their eyes.
“No one saw you with it, right? Or knew you went to the Underdark?”
“No, no one saw. I did everything like you said,”
“Good,”
Althyran placed the jar down on the table after another moment looking it over.
“What do you need the swarming toadstool for?” Majexatli asked, hoping to help, take initiative, to get him in a good mood, “You’ve just said, I’ve gotten really good with my herbalism, maybe I can help—”
Majexatli cut themselves off as they looked up at Althyran and saw something flicker across his face, a dark, grave expression that seemed to suck all of the air and warmth from the tent.
“You don’t need to worry about it, it’s not for you to know. It is a dangerous thing, curiosity,”
“I’m sorry,” Majexatli’s voice was small, trembling.
Althyran’s face softened slightly, but he didn’t speak, didn’t reassure them or comfort them. He simply nodded, grabbing the jar of swarming toadstool essence and placing it in his satchel.
The silence was heavy, tense. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go, they had practiced what they were going to say, practiced how they would speak up—
“I was, um, I was going to go to the infirmary later,” Majexatli started, trying to cling to a confidence they had already lost.
Althyran paused, narrowing his eyes.
“Why?”
Tell him. He should be happy, right? Just tell him.
“I, um, nothing really. Just. My leg, and um, I thought maybe—I mean. It’s just my leg, it’s just my leg”
The lie hurt to say, each word like pulling teeth. Majexatli wasn’t even sure why they were lying, they shouldn’t need to lie.
“If that’s the case, I can save you the trouble and talk to Lysaia or her apprentice myself and get you something for the pain,”
“Okay, yeah, thank you,” Majexatli nodded, looking down at the floor, “Are you going to stay for the night?”
“Oakfather willing. Believe me, there’s no place I’d rather be, but I have something important I need to get to first. I’ll be back before you fall asleep,” Althyran smiled gently in a way that did nothing to comfort Majexatli.
“Okay, I'll see you when you come back,”
After Althyran left, Majexatli blew out the candles in their tent and crawled into their cot. Curling up on their side, they once again held the hair stick to their chest, tracing the intricate curves with their thumb as they tried to lull themselves to sleep.
They left a spot on the cot for Althyran when he would return.
Majexatli knew, though, that come morning, they would still be alone.

Offerings and Salutations to the Teachers, Teachings, and Community.
Tumblr media
This post is dedicated to my friend who's still in prison and will leave this month. I hope to file this post under the practical heading of my index as I see this a very necessary part in the practice itself. Respect and thanks to all the teachers and teachings I was given in my past lives, this life, and future lives. I am so grateful for that.
Let me start it practically and offer you the method. It's really simple and all you have to do is a candle and a glass of water. I don't recommend this for any teacher and only for teachers you know and trust wholeheartedly. I recommend you do this carefully and in case you don't have a teacher you trust then go up to the original founder or a divine figure you trust like Buddha, or Jesus, or someone like Lao-Tzu or Hermes Trismegistus.
Once you have the image of the teacher or their names or your connection to them then you will set up a candle, incense if possible sandalwood or frankincense or frankincense and myrrh AND a glass of water. Then you offer three prayers: 1) Thankgiving 2) Blessing 3) Offering
an example would be like "Thank you Hermes for the teachings of Hermeticism and for the magic you have taught me and inspired me with these techniques" or offer them Psalm 150. Blessing is that you bless the water, the candle, the frankincense in their names. Key of Solomon have stuff to consecrate them, you can also consecrate them by praying Psalm 23 on it, or something from your heart. Lastly the offering , is that you have to word it out and say "O Teacher of This tradition, Thank you for offering and continually supporting my practice by providing the teachings and the magical teachings for us."
edit: I almost forgot but the offering dispose of it under a tree and if you can't then you can flush it down.
Very simple and direct but you can expand on it :) to suits you. Do it often, do it on Wednesday or Sunday or Saturday and what there? there's an incense mix you can use to help with this 1/4th teaspoon Alum , 3 teaspoon of Mace, and a teaspoon of frankincense or benzoin then you make a sincere prayer for an incarnate teacher, finding a good teacher, etc. Now Theory wise or just me talking to you, my imprisoned friend used to do the buddha dhamma sangha vandana to motivate himself and inspire discipline in his practice and that's a good thing! this shows the important of the teacher, teaching, the community/magical chain working in the whole system of practice. Once your practice is a CHAIN then you have this line or this connection going through as arab or muslim call it "madad" which pushes the presence through the community. There's a really good point where you want the teachings to continue, to show you that you're grateful for it and to help the people who deserve it to reach it, no? When you dedicate time to help people reach the teaching then you also open the doors for yourself to reach higher places, it's not a one-way thing and just like we give thanksgiving to our ancestors for their help we also BLESS them and it is like a circle/spiral. We are not disconnected or living in a vacuum, the recluse in mountains or someone who we only hear of them after their death these people are making waves and changes around and stuff are happening!! So don't think that your prayers and incense and thanksgiving are not heard, THEY ARE HEARD. Put yourself out, have faith, and I believe that you will find the blessings and benefits of praying for the teaching we found, for keeping them, for having them "here" and for continual existence in our world. if you do want someone to help you, what are you bringing to the table? and this is a very good read that I recommend from Mark Stavish on Teachers and what you're bringing to the teacher:

🥕🍠 cold season root vegetables 🍠🥕 seasonal foods pt. 3 & food-centric herbalism
beets, turnips, parsnips, radishes, celeriac, carrots, rutabagas, potatoes, and other tubers...
The things found underground can seem unusual, a bit alien, nearly otherworldly. But...so do you at times. Just as it's important not to shun things within you with those similar appearances, as they can be truly nurturing and fruitful, dig into these vegetables too. Integrate that weirdness and drop the shame. The root vegetables that go neglected or underappreciated can help you beautifully unearth and lift the veils to the same within you.

UPDATED + A NEW LOOK TO THE BLOG! The Mad Sorceress Grimoires
A Virtual Grimoire Written from a Chronic-Illness and Trauma-informed Perspective. Restoration Magic for Creatives and Magicians.
Your Fairy of the Fountain on your unique Hero's Quest to Healing.
Hi, everyone! My name is Sam, and I have been diagnosed with Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome since 2014, and Adenomyosis since 2018. I enrolled in a natural medicine in school in 2022 where I began learning about herbal medicine, healing diets, and quantum botanicals. I am a writer + blogger, and on my website, I journal about reclaiming personal power and healing through the help of inner-alchemy, astrology, synergetic herbs, the occult, medical astrology, Astro-nutrition, archaic religions, and esotericism.
What is The Mad Sorceress Grimoires?
A Grimoire is a book with spells and incantations written in it. Grimoire comes from the Old French “grammaire”, which referred to all books that were written in Latin at the time. “Grammaire” comes from the Greek “grammatikos”.
This blog is meant to be a collection of works. Here is the breakdown of the blog:
Chapter 01: Inner-Sorcery
Tumblr media
In this chapter, I share my experience with healing, self-care, ritual, and art from the perspective of someone with chronic-pain, stress, and anxiety. If you want to know more, click on the link above to take you to the chapter.
Chapter 02: Womb/PCOS-Alchemy
Tumblr media
This part of the blog is dedicated to leaning into a magical life from the perspective of someone who endures c-PTSD and chronic-illnesses. I will mention this a million times throughout this blog: I am not a licensed professional. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2013, and Adenomyosis in 2017. I am culling from lived experiences, and sharing that on this blog. Do not take my advice over the advice of licensed professionals who work with you directly. If you want to know more, click on the link above to take you to the chapter.
Chapter 03: Celestial Lessons
Tumblr media
This is where I write about how certain Astrological Archetypes have manifested for me in my real life. I enjoy exploring astrology, and I use it as a means to enhance my life by bringing my joy. Whether by natal or transit, I take a deep dive on the lessons that I’ve learned. Astrology is not meant to replace therapy from licensed professionals. If you want to know more, click on the link above to take you to the chapter.
Chapter 04: Bleak + Brooding Reveries
Tumblr media
I have recently opened my poetry blog back up! I have been inspired by automatic writing my entire life. A lot of my words come from hypnagogic experiences, meditative states, or automatic writing sessions. If you want to know more, click on the link above to take you to the chapter.
Chapter 05: The Holographic Herbal
Tumblr media
Coming soon! As of July 2022, I became a student of Quantum Botanicals and Natural Medicine. During these modules, I experiment with certain herbs. I write about my experience with them. I enjoy learning about their chemical constituents, folk lore, history, and - OF COURSE - I want to know what the occultists had to say about them. This chapter merges Medical Astrology, Astro-Nutrition, Astro-Herbalism, Color, archaic religions, and more. Stay tuned. If you want to know more, click on the link above to take you to the chapter.
Never diagnose yourself without speaking to a medical professional. I am not a certified Medical Astrologer. Regardless, astrology is not meant to take the place of Health Care from licensed professionals. Astrology is meant for entertainment purposes only. Please read my Terms & Conditions for more.
