Steddie Sick fic pt. 2
Pt 1
“Eddie!” The kids shrieked as they all ran to the unconscious Dungeon Master’s side. Dustin knelt down and reached for Eddie’s forehead, yanking it back seconds later. “Shit he’s burning up.”
“He’s sick.” Gareth huffs as he helps the kid shift Eddie onto his back. The metalhead’s breath is rattling in his chest and he’s covered in a layer of sweat.
“Why didn’t he cancel then?” Lucas asks, looking at the older kids.
“Because he’s a stubborn ass who doesn’t know how to ask for help.” Gareth turns to the others, “Can one of you get him home?” His mom had the car tonight.
“Jeff rode with me and we still have all those stupid boxes of my dad’s shit in the back.” Frank said with a shrug, “Besides he probably shouldn’t be alone if he’s sick man, you know Wayne works nights.”
“Okay but we can’t take him and what are the kids going to do, strap him to their handlebars?”
That caused all the kids to glance at each other before turning to Will, “Is Jon still coming to get you tonight?” Mike asks.
“Yeah, and I know he doesn’t have a shift tonight.” With that settled Dustin gets up and goes to his backpack. He pulls out a walkie talkie and after fiddling with it a moment he starts speaking.
“Steve, Steve come in, over.”
Steve? How was Steve Harrington going to help here?
“I’m heading out the door Henderson don’t worry, you guys ended early tonight.” Dustin normally would ignore Steve until he used proper radio etiquette but Eddie took precedence. And besides, Steve’s little ‘secret’ isn’t so secret when he leaves his books open on the Family Video counter.
“Actually we need your help, over.”
The response was immediate and tense, “Code red help?”
“No, no, leave Lola in the trunk. Eddie is sick and passed out, no one else can help him.” Dustin turned back to Eddie who now had a wet rag on his head courtesy of someone.
“Who’s Lola?” Jeff asked the other kids who just rolled their eyes, except Will.
“Steve’s melee weapon, he named her Lola.” Well that cleared up exactly nothing.
“Because you have lifeguard training dumbass!” Dustin says, the others having missed Steve’s reply.
“Lifeguard certification does not equal a doctorate Dustin! What about his bandmates, why can’t they take him?”
Huh, Steve Harrington knows they exist, and not just in a they’re also in Hellfire kinda way. This day just gets weirder and weirder.
“No one has a ride or space available. Please Steve, he’s got a bad fever and his breathing is really shallow. There’s no one at home to keep an eye on him.”
The line goes silent for almost a minute and a half before finally crackling to life again, “Low fucking blow Henderson,” The ex-jock hisses out, “I’ll be there in five. Who is taking you brats home?”
“We’re going to bully Jon into doing it. Thanks Steve.” He shuts the walkie off and puts it away before going back to Eddie.
The older man had sort of regained consciousness by now but whatever he was mumbling wasn’t coherent. Seems he’d gone delirious from the fever.
Less than five minutes later, Jesus had Harrington floored it all the way here, the old King of Hawkins High strode through the drama room doors. He ruffled Dustin’s hair before quickly going to Eddie’s side. After also checking his temperature and his pulse the brunette turned to the band.
“Has he had anything to eat or drink today?”
The other two shrugged and turned to Gareth, “I gave him some water and crackers at lunch since he didn’t have any food with him, also brought him some tea before we started tonight. I don’t know about anything else.”
“Okay, thanks man. Dust,” He pulls out his car keys and hands them off to the other teen, “Get the back door open for me please.”
The kid runs out to do as requested, Steve turns back to the other kids, “If you haven’t yet, let Jon and Nancy know what’s happening. I don’t want one of you stranded here while I get Munson settled.”
Lucas nodded and went to do as the older boy asked. The Coffin boys knew Steve was a babysitter/overbearing sibling figure to the kids, the way they sang his praises, but this felt like a commander giving orders and everyone followed them like their lives were on the line. It was weird.
“Give my best to your families, I’ll be there for Saturday dinner kay?” He pats Will’s shoulder fondly and then turns back to Eddie.
“Okay Munson, are you with me enough to hold onto me?” Steve coaxes Eddie’s arms into looping around his neck, he’s not expecting one to immediately curl into his hair and tug weakly. Whatever face Steve made as he held back from making any kind of sound besides a pained grunt seemed to amuse Eddie greatly as he started giggling.
“Yes, yes you’re very funny.” Sighing, Steve digs his arms under Eddie and scoops the metalhead into his arms. Eddie lets out a very soft ‘whee’ in response as he’s lifted and his head tucked into Steve’s shoulder. There’s a small smile teasing the corner of Harrington’s lips. He stands and makes sure Eddie isn’t about to fling himself out of Steve’s arms before he starts walking back out to the parking lot. The rest of the group scrambles to pack their shit away and follow after them.

— OC TAG GAME
tagged by mine beloved @corvosattano to do this fun little tag game — thank you macy 💕
tagging @chuckhansen @queennymeria @cptcassian @unholymilf @shallow-gravy @florbelles @adelaidedrubman @roofgeese @confidentandgood @risingsh0t @loriane-elmuerto @shellibisshe @marivenah @nightbloodbix @leviiackrman and anyone else who wants to!
— FAVORITE OC.
Tumblr media
this one was actually a lot harder than i anticipated it being. i love all my silly kids but i wasn’t really sure i had a favorite — except the more i think about it, the more i think maura is. making her was the last time i really gave my all to a character and the last time i created something without caring what anyone else thought about it. she was special. she still is.
— NEWEST OC.
Tumblr media
maggie’s the newest, but i’ve been very delinquent in doing anything with her and i unfortunately don’t see that changing anytime soon. i’d like to come back to her someday. sorry maggie.
— OLDEST OC.
Tumblr media
harper has existed in so many iterations over the last decade that it’s hard to even remember the moment that she came into being. she’s changed so much and become such a big part of me — she was my very first creative endeavor and she’ll always hold a special place in my heart.
— MEANEST OC.
Tumblr media
before The Incident, at least. i don’t have a lot of truly cruel characters, but olly takes the cake more often than he probably means to. he’s no stranger to taking out his frustrations on the people he loves, and he’s selfish to his very core. if he’s angry, he will not hesitate to push your buttons even if you’re at your most vulnerable. he’s a user and a liar. he knows better.
— SOFTEST OC.
Tumblr media
definitely maura. she’s a sweetheart, a hopeless romantic and a relentless optimist in a world where none of those things serve a person very well. she’s seen horrible things and been a victim of even worse, but it never hardens her. the world wasn’t really meant for someone like maura, but she melts the pain around her with her softness.
— MOST ALOOF/STANDOFFISH OC.
Tumblr media
mari’s having a weird time. she’s a nice person, deep down, but she harbors some serious resentment and self-hatred and it’s enough to make her come across like an asshole, even when she doesn’t really mean to.
— DUMBEST (AFFECTIONATE) OC.
Tumblr media
the funny thing about mark is that he isn’t really very stupid at all. he’s a very particular brand of clever, even! except the brain cell isn’t firing on all cylinders. he’s got brains, but he doesn’t quite know how to use them to their fullest potential. the dumbass energy is unreal, even if it’s not entirely true.
— SMARTEST OC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
lucy and harper are both smart as hell. harper’s got a ph.d in anthropology and she will bore you to tears if you make the mistake of asking her about it. lucy’s a computer whiz who worked in programming and software engineering before her life went down the proverbial drain. my smart, smart girls.
— OC I’D BE FRIENDS WITH IRL.
Tumblr media
she’s fun, okay? she’s the cool mom friend, the one who always wants to enjoy life and have a good time. she wants to feel alive. and she so desperately wants to make sure the people she loves are happy, too. who wouldn’t want to be around that?

Steve doesn’t like Eddie’s music.
That was a lie, Steve was trying to like Eddie’s taste in music -but he didn’t want Eddie to catch on, that would make it too obvious.
And, he’s never tell Eddie, but metal is good, it’s fun and provocative and he likes being able to feel the instruments practically vibrating.
But he’s also not actively going out of his way to listen to the stuff. Maybe it’s his inner conformist or the lingering of King Steve, but he keeps telling himself that he doesn’t like Eddie’s taste in music -he shouldn’t like it. So he doesn’t.
He’s got it all under control until he’s driving Dustin to camp during the summer. He took the two days off specially to spend time with Henderson before his time away at Camp Know Where. They planned the trip a week in advance, taking a very scenic route and knowing they can stop for lunch and Ice cream- Steve had even promised Dustin that he could control the music for the journey.
Dustin likes a bit of everything, so he has a few mixtapes that were made for him by his friends, as well as a few albums that were both his and borrowed from various members of the party. Of course, he has an abundance of tapes from Eddie, copies of the metalhead’s favourite albums and who’s been very openly trying to bring Dustin to the dark side.
There’s about an hour left in the drive, so he picks one at random to put on, doesn’t even look at writing scrawled on front, but as soon as the music starts playing, Steve knows it’s one of Eddie’s tapes. He can hear it in the guitar and the drums and he hates to admit it to himself but it’s really good.
The songs keep playing and they’re all really, really good - he didn’t think music could leave that much of an impression on him but its so much fun. He even finds himself tapping along to the rhythm on his steering wheel, a rarity for anything that isn’t Queen or Abba or a good movie soundtrack.
He plays it off casually, asking Dustin what the tape is.
“Oh, it’s uh-” he begins, checking the scribbled cover of the cassette case. “It’s a copy of Turbo, by Judas Priest; Eddie said it’s a little controversial but he likes it.”
Steve has heard of Judas Priest, has seen the pin on Eddie’s battle vest and the poster in his room. He’s probably heard their music on Eddie’s mixtapes that he plays when they’re getting high together but maybe he wasn’t really listening, because Steve thinks now he gets it -THIS is music.
He wants to ask Dustin for the tape, but knows that’s a loosing battle, so he keeps quite, pondering how to ask Eddie to make him a copy. Those thoughts don’t last very long, because on the way back to Hawkins, none of the music on his cassettes are hitting the spots that Turbo did, so, against his better judgement, he parks outside the first record store he comes across on his journey home and buys it for himself.
It’s a slippery slope, because he ends up with not only the 1986 album, but also defenders of the faith, British Steel and Sin after Sin (as recommended by the store clerk).
He doesn’t outright tell Eddie about his new found obsession, doesn’t know how to bring it up naturally.
Thankfully he doesn’t have to.
They’re getting high again, Eddie rummaging through his obscene collection of tapes before asking Steve if he has any requests. He always asks this, even though Steve’s answer is always not.
Well, Usually, the answer is no,
“Can you, eh, maybe put on some Priest?”
He swears that he’s never seen Eddie’s face light up like it did that night, before rushing into the longest tangent about the highs and lows of the British metal band.
And, well, Steve won’t admit it out loud, but he could listen to Eddie talk like this forever.

Some reasons I dislike Stranger Things, and some reasons I LIKE Lockwood & Co.!
I'm sure that I will be argued with for saying this, but Stranger Things isn't actually that good. (I have just finished watching season 2 with my parents)
It COULD have been brilliant, but it just falls into repetitive storylines, and makes a bunch of really disappointing choices with its characters that just make the narrative feel lazy. Which sucks.
Some spoilers below.
EG: Joyce, Hopper and Bob. Joyce and Hopper work amazingly together, as FRIENDS. They've both had incredibly traumatic and scarring experiences that have left them damaged and broken people. But their friendship allows them to find support from someone who, like they themselves, has been through those things and can help them when they're in distress. Romantically? No, absolutely not. Joyce is continuously shown to be trusting and forgiving, personality traits that her shitty previous partner used against her as tools for manipulation. By contrast, Hopper is regularly shown to be possessive, protective and more than a little controlling, as we can see in his relations with El. Put all that together into a romantic relationship, and you get a really unhealthy environment for them both.
But then there's Bob. Sweet, kind, supportive, gentle Bob. A man who truly adores Joyce and her children and wants nothing but the best for all of them. As my mum put it, he is a fucking incredible example of nontoxic masculinity, and a really refreshing break from the "evil stepfather" trope that is so often seen in media. But nope! Sorry! Despite his amazing character and incredible potential to be something really good for the show, the poor guy is lost to us within the season. Rip Bob you absolute fucking icon.
And there is so much more, too. Out of all the characters, the only ones who really grow and develop as people (in a noticeable way) are Steve Harrington and Dustin. Steve goes from being a selfish, entitled, stuck up shithead to a guy who is reeling from the realisation that his actions have consequences for him and for people he cares about in a single season, and he CONTINUES to try and change himself as the show goes forward, actively trying to be a better person. He and Dustin, the only one of the kids (other than maybe will) to really mature or stand up to the entitled brat that is Mike Wheeler, have a really lovely friendship and it makes me very happy to see how supportive of Dustin Steve is.
Plus the show kind of doesn't do a whole lot with ANY of the girl characters. Max is Just Kind Of There, Nancy is a bit one dimensional, Barb (I am so mad about how much potential she had) died before she ever got to do anything awesome, and Eleven is essentially just the same as Max but is also the magical maguffin they use every so often to get rid of the big bads.
But yeah. Overall, Stranger Things, whilst a decent show, really isn't anything super special. It is, as my mum once again put it, like sugary cereal. Really great on the first taste, but only to be eaten in small amounts so you don't get sick of it.
"But Ninja!" I hear you cry. "If you think this show isn't that great, what shows do you think are?"
I'M GLAD YOU ASK.
Allow me to introduce to you a delightful new series that recently aired on Netflix called Lockwood & Co., based on a young adult book series of the same name.
The show follows the adventures of the titular Lockwood & Co. a team of three teenagers who work together to hunt ghosts, as they begin to uncover a mysterious and immensely dangerous hidden web of conspiracy that could majorly change their whole world view.
Everything about Lockwood & Co., from the costume designs to the soundscaping to the visuals is absolutely incredibly done. The three main characters of Anthony Lockwood, Lucy Carlisle and George Karim, as well as the rest of the cast, have depth and facets to their characters that make them really fun and get you invested in their adventures.
Whether it's Lockwood constantly behaving like an absolute jerk, but learning that acting that way endangers those around him and can get people killed, Lucy gaining a sense of independence and confidence (and getting to push lockwood almost in the thames in one bit which was funny) in spite of constantly being surrounded by cruel and manipulative adults (including her own mum), or George just being the most neurodivergent guy ever and a sassy menace who has to learn that not even he knows everything, you genuinely feel for the characters, and relate to them whether in spite of or because of their flaws.
In addition, a major overall theme that Lockwood & Co. does really well, but Stranger Things not so much, is that the government (and adults) cannot be trusted. Constantly, over the course of the season's 8 action filled episodes, it is reinforced to the viewer that the adult run authorities of this world will do ANYTHING to retain the status quo, and they do not give a single flying fuck for who gets caught in the crossfire. The main characters constantly have to combat cruel, vicious adults who, despite living in a world where children and their ghost detecting skills are one of the most valuable things around, don't give these kids the authority they deserve, or respect for risking their lives nightly. Instead they do everything they can to manipulate and control them, benefitting off of the mass child death the ghost hunting industry causes.
Overall, Lockwood & Co. is an amazing show, with some amazing actors, and I can definitely reccomend it.
To conclude, while Stranger Things has a few things going for it, overall it doesn't do enough with its characters or story to make it a really investing or exciting show to watch. By contrast, Lockwood & Co is a pretty darn decent show so far, with a really great strong female lead and some really fun shenanigans with sound design and lighting.

Stranger Things Masterlists
Steve Harrington: (Sorted Oldest to Newest)
Devil Town (Imogen V. Henderson played by Katherine Langford)
Imogen Henderson was as normal as a tomboy could be in the eighties. Rather than shop and gossip, she’d rather play D&D with her brother and his friends and learn how to fight with swords. Imogen was incredibly intelligent, in fact, her brother described her as an empathetic Sherlock Holmes. She was intelligent yet scatterbrained and eccentric.
People often wondered why the most popular kid in school bothered being friends with her as she was only known for her tendency for violence as demonstrated by that time she punched Tommy H. in the face.
But one day, her world turns into one of the stories she loved to read when Will Byers goes missing and she finds out that the world isn’t as logical as she once thought. Now she has to do whatever she can to keep her friends and family safe.
Trauma Masterlist (Emilie H. Henderson played by Hailee Steinfeld)
Emilie Henderson was damaged. Everyone knew what happened to her. Or at least, they knew enough. When she was thirteen she went camping with her father and they both went missing for nearly two weeks until Emilie was found barely alive with deep wounds from an unknown origin and her father was found with his eyes caved in and his bones cracked.
She was in a coma for thirteen weeks when she came back she had no memory of what happened. Doctors said the trauma was so great that the young girl blocked it out. But ever since then, she kept having nightmares of a place. Like this world but cold and dark. She lived with the Byers as she became friends with Jonathan and was like a daughter to Joyce until her brother and mother were able to move to Hawkins with her due to complications.
She's now known at the traumatized girl of Hawkins High with the freak brother, yet somehow she is Steve "The Hair" Harrington's best friend albeit their relationship has gotten rocky. She deals with normal things along with her nightmares and trauma-school, bullies, insecurities, and being in love with her best friend.
But when Will Byers goes missing and odd occurrences start happening, Emilie's memories start coming back.
Broken Bird (Rue Hopper Played by Kathyrn Newton)
"Rue" - Regret. That summed up the past four years of Rue Persephone Hopper's life. Ever since her sister--her beautiful baby sister got sick. Cancer.
When she got sick, they had to go to New York to get her treatment, when the previously bright-eyed troublemaker. Rue Hopper returned now an only child, she had none of the light left in her eyes. She came back a broken soul of a broken home. Broken. That summed up everything inside Rue.
After Sara died, she had felt so much pain that she thought she was losing her mind-until she shut down. Now she walks around Hawkins, dead inside, plastering a smile on her face and hiding it with jokes, snark, and sarcasm. But when one of her best friend's brothers go missing, the spark in her is reignited.
Killer Queen Masterlist (Cassandra "Cassie Dare" Henderson played by Zoey Deutch; Pan Henderson played by David Tennant)
Formerly "Life is Strange".
Cassandra Delphia “Cassie Dare” “Cassie” Henderson is wild, dangerous… insubordinate… Right here, folks. right here.
Steve Harrington and Cassie Dare Henderson--best friends since diapers until the dare of 1979. It turns out that breaking and entering into the Hawkins Lab wasn't a good idea when Dustin's older sister, Cassie Dare did so because she when went in and didn't come back out until being found near-dead in the woods three weeks later with no memory whatsoever from entering the lab but she hasn't been the same since. She was distant and aloof despite the attempts of her little brother, Dustin and her best friend, Steve Harrington,  but the day that Will Byers goes missing she starts remembering things when she mysteriously gains strange abilities the same moment the gate opened and she meets a strange little girl who looks so familiar to her.
Warning(s): Cursing, PG-13 Sexual Content, 80’s Homophobia (Not explicit, just a comment here and there from Tommy and them.)
Embers In the Sky (Dominique "Nico" Henderson played Georgie Henley; Alex Henderson played by David Tennant)
Dominique “Nico” Henderson. Older sister of Dustin Henderson and daughter of Claudia and Alex Henderson. Loyal, brave, intelligent, sarcastic, and violent. She is ignored and/or feared by bullies, loved by those who are bullied, and most of all loved by Steve Harrington.
But in another part of Hawkins, she is known by another name. One she plans on never hearing again. Her first name. Dominique. She got more than the other kids got at Hawkins Lab but she was never an official test subject. She was the daughter of a test subject. And until 1979, she was an active yet unofficial test subject with powers of fire—the Upside-Down’s biggest weakness. She was the only test subject who was subjected to being continuously sent into the Upside-Down to test the human’s capacity to survive there, until the Massacre, nearly killed her and Brenner’s favorite test subject changed, letting Alex and Nico free but they still had the memories. And then in 1983, their past comes back.
