It's oddly peaceful listening to tales of apocalypse while laying next to a woman that destroys our relationship every week. It's not so confusing, but confusing too.. if that's not confusing enough, I'm occasionally confused. I want to reach out and hold her, though she doesn't like to be touched.. I want to kiss her lips, but I don't want to wake her up. Listening to nukes and doom reminds me of waking her up when it's time.. I've been here for 4 days, 4 more than I thought I would be. But when I leave, she still won't be mine.. starlight, starbright, I wonder on a star about her place in my life."

What's a good size for sprites in your opinion

The game itself is 1280x720 pixels, and so I make my sprites on a 700 pixel tall canvas (unsure why - beyond keeping them from clipping off the top of the screen!) I then just. Eyeball how tall characters should be in contrast to each other. This is very amateurish, and it's Not Reliable, but it's the best I've got. You could also paint on a bigger canvas, and then scale it down for more detail :)

just found out my cousin (who lives in England) is in the art department of a bunch of shows??? And she worked oN DOCTOR WHO? AND HAD LUNCH WITH DAVID TENNANT???? and she just told me so casually because she's interested in the art, not the show? I mean, excuse me? She worked on SHERLOCK???? FOR A WHOLE SEASON?? She worked on Peaky Blinders and Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones??? And probably other things because she has a shitty memory and according to her everything is a blur?? AND AT ONE POINT SHE WAS LIKE: "oh and have you ever heard of Neil Gaiman?" And I was trying not to scream, because yes, of course I've heard of Neil, he's only my favorite author, I've only read like all of his books multiple times, and if you say you worked on Good Omens or the Sandman I'm going to lose it completely. So I said "yeah I've read a couple of his books," -you know, like a liar- "what about him?" and she goes "well I worked on one of his shows and he's brilliant i just can't remember which one" and i go "w-what do you mean he's brilliant? You're.. you're talking about his writing... his writing is brilliant, right?" And she cheerfully says "oh no I don't read books, I ment he was really nice and brilliant when I talked to him" and i go "WHAT DID YOU TALK ABOUT WHAT DID YOU TALK ABOUT" and she thinks for a moment and goes "oh! BRICKS" WHAT IN THE WORLD YES NO THAT MAKES SENSE YOU GET TO WORK AND TALK WITH NEIL FUCKING GAIMAN AND YOU TALK ABOUT BRICKS? NO THAT'S TOTALLY NORMAL I'M NOT MAD ".... it was what I was designing at the time, I needed to know what vibe the bricks should have. This tiny gray cat showed up in our backyard and we were like oh shes so small she must be a little baby kitten, we have to help her, so we got her inside and took her to the vet and they were like nope. no she has all her adult teeth. shes just small. she's literally just that small.

Personally, it's always a bit wild to me to see commentators interact with the Hunger Games franchise as if Collins were writing science fiction stories instead of essays with faces. She's just not that interested in fleshing out side characters or digging into the details of the worldbuilding. These characters are concepts and symbols before they're people. There's an almost mathematical precision to who and what she explores and how deeply she does it. This is a step or two away from pure allegory. If she were writing a couple of centuries ago, she'd have named her characters things like Innocence and Anger and Watch-Carefully-Your-Soul-Lest-Ye-Be-Damned, but since she's writing for modern audiences, she has to settle for puns and allusions. If she has another essay to write, she'll assign some faces to it; she's not going to look into backstories or other eras just for the sake of storytelling, and it's not a failing as a writer that she doesn't.

the average height of men in the US is 5’9. annabeth has always been tall - she ends up being about 5’9/5’10 - so she probably always thought that she’d end up with someone who’s her height, maybe even shorter than her. i mean, she was taller than percy up until they were 16, and even then he was her height, not taller

then mr. perseus jackson, in classic percy ‘never let them know your next move’ jackson was like “actually no ☝️” and kept on fucking growing.

she probably prepared herself for the probability of being taller than her future man. she might have even loved the idea. and then her man ends up being fucking 6’2

and i am completely convinced that percy ended up being so tall out of pure stubbornness.

well, that, and he was asleep for 6 months, at prime growing age, and was probably horizontal, so gravity wasn’t working against him. genetics probably played a role too. and i do always say i think demigods tend to be taller…
