When people talk about narcissistic abuse, or psychopaths, they basically end up saying, "there's a group of people who you can be in relationships with who has only bad intentions, and wants to hurt you, and if they ever pretend to be nice or sympathetic they're knowingly lying. Every time you're hurt in a relationship with them it's them intentionally hurting you, and every time they make you sympathetic twords them it's a manipulation." And they don't realize that what they're describing isn't an actual type of person, but nothing more then the narrative that actual abusers have about their victims.
Remember that mentally ill people are far more likely to be victims then abusers.
What do you think aliens would do if they met a psychopath? And I don’t mean the spooky stereotypes, just an actual person.
What about the aliens who can sense emotions? The little guys that can smell emotions love humans, their feeling are so loud and vibrant, so how would they react if they met one who didn’t have any?
I just feel like Steve would be someone who 100% freaks a little anytime people actually call him on his cell. (Except for Robin, because they call each other on speakerphone just like while they get dressed or cook.)

Remember...terrible people are often very good at convincing people they are safe, upstanding, positive role models. They do this so you have a hard time believing that they are capable of doing horrible things to people. They gaslight their victims and make their friends and family go on the offensive because they can't accept that someone they love and admire could betray their trust and loyalty.
