suzuha is an odd girl and you know you'll likely never truly understand her, yet you can't help but fall in love with her
no matter how hard you try to hide it from her, suzuha knows how you feel about her
but she never brings it up and lets you believe that she's unaware of your feelings for her
after all, suzuha can't be with you, whether she wants that or not
she isn't from the worldline and eventually she'll disappear from your life again
while you try and get closer to her, try to get to know her, suzuha always keeps a distance between you two
you can't get to know her. you can't find out who she is or it could potentially cause a paradox and change the future!
she hates to see you suffer because of her, as she turns you down time and time again, but she knows that this is what she has to do…

— iii. FAMILIAR
published on: june 21, 2023 pairing: okabe rintarou & reader summary: the rain feels cold and unpleasant on your skin, but you try to convince yourself it's bearable. word count: 1.9k+ entries: i. | ii. | iii.
When the bell rings for the last time, [Name] heaves a long sigh of relief. Thursdays are the longest days of the week — the classes go as far as six in the afternoon, but the day never quite ends there. Besides, the days now feel very short, as the sky gets dark at roughly around five. She doesn’t live too far away, especially by train, but something unsettles her when it’s dark. Especially when it’s December.
She takes out her phone from the side pocket of her bag. No text messages. She stares for a moment or two, but she puts it away before it gets to her. Instead, she puts everything inside her bag and follows her classmates out of the room. Some turn to her in curiosity. It’s been more than two weeks since she’s been an internship student in Tokyo Denki University, but, besides the brief introduction that the teacher requested of her, nobody knows anything about her. Nobody knows her. She’s just minding her own business, away from everyone. That usually works well. The fewer problems she gets herself in, the better.
It’s gotten easy to walk through a crowded hallway, pretending nobody’s there. Everything sounds muffled, as if it’s happening in a distant place. [Name] just grips the right strap of the bag closer to herself, head hanging low, as she walks down the stairs. When she approaches the exit of the building, the first thing she sees is rain.
Damn it!
She opens up her bag, although she suspects already that the umbrella was left at home. She fumbles with the content of her bag, but, in the end, nothing is found. She groans and hangs her head in defeat, but then stands upright. It’s just a little bit of rain, [Name] thinks — or rather, tries to tell herself. You’ll be okay. She wraps her scarf closer to herself, puts her phone inside the pocket of her coat to avoid damage, and begins walking home.
The moment the rain touches her skin, she hisses. It shouldn’t be a surprise that it would be cold at this time of the year, but it’s never really satisfying to feel freezing cold water on you after you’ve been inside a warm building for nearly an entire day. Perhaps, it wouldn’t feel as bad if she had taken the chance to go to the cafeteria and get a warm coffee, with just the right amount of sugar in it. But, the more time she wastes inside the university, the later it gets, the worse she feels. You can get your coffee at home, don’t make such a fuss. The scolding tone in her own thoughts is not really her own, but it’s gotten so automatic to include her voice in her head, to make sure she doesn’t stray away from her path and her own errands. One can argue that it’s not exactly healthy, but, oh well… Old habits die hard.
She hears splashes behind her, increasingly getting closer, before she suddenly stops feeling the water on top of her head. ‘Careful, you’ll get a cold.’ She turns her head to see Okabe hunching slightly over her. He holds a black umbrella in his left hand, standing close — but not too close — to her so that both are protected from the rain. She stares up at him for a moment, caught off guard, and she observes his face and that small smile that’s on his lips.
‘...Thank you.’
His smile falls, and he frowns a little bit. ‘Are you okay? You look a little… upset.’ [Name] glances away, and makes herself look smaller as she pulls her arms closer to her body. He notices. ‘I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to pry.’ Instead, they continue on their way, going through the gates of the university.
As per usual, there is a lot of traffic. Regardless of which region you are, Tokyo is still Tokyo. Many students are leaving in groups, perhaps to spend time together or accompany each other home. She can see a couple of lovebirds as well; even from a distance, the slight closeness between the two of them is enough to tell that the two are in a romantic relationship.
A car drives by, going above the speed limit. The sound snaps her back to reality. What are you doing? Pay attention! She murmurs under her breath, feeling her skin burn as she feels the young man’s gaze on her once again. They stop on the crosswalk, amongst a crowd, and they wait for the light to turn green. It’s as they stand there that it crosses her mind that she hasn’t even asked in which way he was going. Perhaps, he’d be heading home, and they would stop walking together.
Before the words can get out of her mouth, Okabe speaks. ‘Where are you headed? I’ll walk you to the station.’
‘You don’t need to…’ The thought of walking this close to him makes her paranoid. And guilty.
‘I’m not letting you get sick,’ he says and chuckles, trying to lighten up the mood. ‘I wouldn’t really be able to forgive myself, you know? Besides, it’s a quick jump to the sta—’
When he turns to take a look at her face, he finds himself fumbling with his words, his breath caught in his throat, upon seeing her eyes already on him. Okabe freezes on his tracks. There is something in her gaze that paralyzes him — it’s that seriousness, that seeming uncertainty. Thoughts are running wildly through her mind, mostly doubts and questions. She can’t name what she is feeling, but the selflessness and kindness she has been receiving from the few people she’s met in Japan feels unreal. Especially his.
They don’t really know each other. Besides the short conversation they had in the seminar, two weeks ago, which wasn’t unpleasant by any means, they haven’t had many encounters. They don’t share the same classes as Okabe initially speculated; thus, besides an occasional wave in the corridors or cafeteria, they haven’t really had the chance to get to know each other. Their schedules are different, and they are busy as they are, especially with exams and assignments around the corner. If anything, she would be catching up to the weeks worth of studies she hasn’t been able to follow while she was signing up for the internship.
But, that would most likely be a lie.
In truth, [Name] has been avoiding him. Though, not just him. She hasn’t been in touch with Naoko, besides the times they interact in school. The foreigner tells herself this is to protect herself, to avoid misunderstandings, and to make sure nothing goes wrong while she’s away from home. Many people say that what’s happened in the past is gone and over with, that it can’t come back to haunt you. But, it never hurts to take precaution, does it? Even if university can’t go as poorly as highschool did for her, [Name] is afraid it repeats itself.
Perhaps, taking an internship was a bad idea after all.
‘[Name]?’
It’s when he calls her name — bashfully, she notices, from his tone and the glow on his face, no longer from just the cold — that she realizes she has reached for the sleeve of his heavy coat. She blinks as she stares at her own hand, gripping tightly onto him, and slowly pulls it back into her pocket. She keeps her eyes on the sleeve, unable to look him in the eye.
Why would he care so much about her? Does he feel some sort of obligation to make sure her stay in Japan goes well? She wouldn’t be surprised if some teachers had assigned students to watch over her, to see if she needs help with anything — the language, assignments, possible misunderstandings. Naoko mentioned that, sometimes, students are responsible to keep an eye out for internship students, especially those from Western countries. In fact, hadn’t she said something amongst the lines of “contact me if you need anything”? Would that mean Naoko—
No, don’t even go there.
Okabe hardly knows her, yet it feels like he does. The thought that he is looking out for her, despite being in different years and the very few interactions they’ve had between each other makes the guilt within her heart grow. Perhaps, for all this time she has tried to keep herself isolated, within the circle of studies, she hasn’t noticed how much of an idiot she can come across as. She’d practically flee from Okabe and other classmates whenever she found an opportunity.
‘...You’re a good person, Okabe,’ she murmurs under her breath. Taking a deep breath, she raises her head, watching him with that same seriousness from before. ‘Thank you for looking after me.’ Despite her initial thoughts, those words are sincere. It feels vulnerable, and [Name] isn’t quite sure if she likes it or not.
He opens his mouth, and a strange sound comes from his throat, as if he’s choked up on his words, unsure of what to say. It’s during those seconds where he’s confused and embarrassed that she takes notice of the situation — two people standing in the middle of the rain, having a heart-to-heart conversation. That’s how it feels like, and it’s not a completely unfamiliar feeling. If Naoko was here, she would surely say it’s just like a scene from a romance movie.
A sudden voice rings from the other side of the street. The crowd that was around them has long shifted, disappeared and replaced. [Name] looks up to see that the crosswalk light has been green for a long time, before turning to the figure that is jogging towards her and Okabe, umbrella in hand.
‘Tutturu~♪’
‘Mayuri,’ Okabe turns to the girl at the same time. The redness on his face is yet to vanish. ‘Sorry, I was just about to text you.’
‘That’s okay. Mayushii has just gotten here, too.’ The girl shakes her head with a gentle smile. Then, she turns to [Name], eyes wide in surprise and curiosity. ‘Huh? Who’s this?’
[Name] finds herself shrinking a little bit, now feeling hyper aware of the way she’s dressed, the way she brushed her hair which is half-soaked from the rain, the way that she probably didn’t brush her teeth that good this morning, the way that—
‘This is [Name],’ Okabe takes the matter into his own hands, politely introducing her to the highschool girl. There is a slight mispronunciation of her full name, but she isn’t entirely bothered by it; in fact, it nearly sounded perfect. ‘She’s an internship student at my university.’
‘Oh, you’re a foreigner?’ The girl — Mayuri — looks at her in amazement. Perhaps, she hasn’t seen many foreigners before. ‘Pleasure to meet you. I’m Shiina Mayuri, but you can call me Mayushii.’ She bows in greeting.
‘P-Pleasure to meet you as well,’ the young woman takes the hands out of her pockets and follows her example. When she’s done, she finds herself staring at that gentle, innocent smile, lost in thought.
‘Were you thinking of heading home?’ Okabe asks Mayuri, after watching their interaction carefully.
‘Well, Mayushii needs to stop by the lab to get some recipes that Yuki-san left for her.’ Mayuri puffs out her chest in confidence. ‘And Mayushii will execute them to the best of her abilities, following the lessons of her mentor!’
For some reason, Okabe shivers next to her. Before she can think about it any further, he turns to look at her instead, giving her a calm smile. ‘Where are you headed?’
‘Uh,’ she fidgets a little bit on her feet, ‘Akihabara.’
Both blink at her, before Mayuri (shouldn’t it be Mayushii, if she clearly prefers the sound of that name?) pulls the umbrella closer to her as she steps closer, to avoid being too close to the road as the light has turned red again. ‘Then, it’s decided. Akihabara it is!’

Summary:
आँखें तेरी कितनी हसीन (Aankhen teri kitanee haseen): "Your eyes are so beautiful." - Roop Kumar Rathod, Maula Mere Maula
"The universe has a beginning, but no end. — Infinite. Stars, too, have their own beginnings, but their own power results in their destruction. — Finite. It is those who possess wisdom who are the greatest fools. History has shown us this. You could say that this is the final warning from God to those who resist." (Steins;Gate)
But these two star crossed lovers do not wish to heed God's warning because their love surpasses that of history, time and space itself.
A crown prince and a woman who wishes to learn about the darkness and silence of the universe meet. Their fate is entwined and bound through lifetimes from one simple action. And the stars stand as witness.
A Romeo and Juliet/ Ram-Leela retelling...
~~~~
Notes:
This is hella self indulgent cuz i like space, plus gojos eyes remind me of the stars so why not 🤷
most of it was inspired by the hindi song Maula Mere Maula by Roop Kumar Rathod (hindi songs on top)
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, there was a crown prince who did not want to inherit his father's throne and a simple commoner who wished to be the greatest scholar but couldn't because she was a woman. The crown prince from the family name Gojo would sneak out of the castle at night to gaze at a graveyard of stars. He would sit under the tree, surveying the dark sky with the specks of light dotting it. One day, when he reached the tree, a girl was there with a telescope and papers in her hands. Instead of approaching her, the prince watched the girl as she aligned the telescope and looked into it. He unknowingly smiled at the little excited jump she made after finding the star. She immediately started writing her findings on the papers with such happiness over her discovery. That night, the prince did not gaze at the sky full of stars because he was focused on the one that shined even brighter than them, the one standing on the earth.
The next night he snuck out, she was there again, this time he went to introduce himself, wishing to know more about her. The girl turned around at the sound of crunching leaves, and her presence was met with the prince’s.
She gasped, immediately curtsied, and whispered, "My prince, I’m so sorry for not acknowledging you.."
The prince smiled and ushered her to rise, and she responded, "No, it's okay. To be fair, I should have approached you yesterday, but I was just too entranced with the way you handled your learnings. May I be blessed with your name?"
She blushed and spoke her name, and the prince repeated it, smiling at the way it rolled off his tongue.
"Can I join you? I would love to peer inside a telescope." He spoke with glittering eyes that shone with hope.
The girl smiled and agreed with excitement about his relaxed stature. That night, the prince stayed out longer than usual to learn more about the girl. He urged her to be more casual with him, and she happily obliged, joyful to gain a friend who also shared an interest in the stars.
~~~~~~~~~~~
One night, the prince laid his head on her lap as they gazed at the stars and asked her a question.
"Y/N? Why do you love astronomy?"
The girl looked down at his sparkling blue eyes and smiled, saying, "The universe is full of mysteries, my prince. Mysteries, which I hope to unravel. The sky calls to me. It calls to us. If we do not destroy ourselves, we will one day venture to the stars."
He hummed at her response: "Do you think there is more to see?"
She brushed a hand through his soft white locks and smiled down at him, saying, "A still more glorious dawn awaits, not a sunrise, but a galaxy rise. A morning filled with 400 billion suns."
"But won't things change in the future?"
"The vision of the future will surely evolve as we probe for more clues. But one thing is clear: The universe has only just begun. I believe our future depends powerfully on how we choose to understand this cosmos and the secrets hidden in it."
He chuckled as he sat up to sit in front of her and said, "You have such a way with your words, my little scholar. The god of poetry himself would bow in front of your gaze."
The girl blushed at his compliment on her intelligence and tucked a drifting strand of hair behind her ear. The prince took his slender hands and caressed her warm cheek before pressing his lips to hers. The girl’s eyes widened at this sudden action, but she slowly melted into his embrace, slipping her hands behind his neck. They basked in each other's glory until the flames of the rising sun came to shine on the dark earth.
~~~~~~~~~~
"You will not marry this girl, son! She is not fit to be queen! Nor is she fit for any social standing. Just look at her! A woman with a bold and wild dream of being a scholar in this day and age. Has she no shame? You have the audacity to bring her here and ask me to bless your hands in marriage. That will never happen, son! We will find a proper woman for you!" A loud, booming voice shook the castle as the king spoke.
"I will marry her! Or I will marry none at all! If I don't have her, I will revoke my claim to the throne, and you will have no heir to pass it on to. I love her father! Why can’t you understand?" The prince spoke with urgency as he clenched his lover's hand.
The king looked at the two of them with anger and said, "What I have said is final! You will not marry this woman. You are dismissed."
The prince let out a small growl and pulled his lover along with him.
~~~~~~~~~~~
A couple nights later, the prince learned that the king had planned to send out assassins in the late hours of the night to kill his lover. Without missing a beat, he met her up at her place and explained everything to her. She smiled as she caressed his tear-stained cheek and said that she would happily die for him, but the price would not listen. He used his jujutsu and promised to join her in death. The girl couldn't do anything but agree to his whims. He took her to the high cliff where their tree was and brought a sealing rope. They both agreed that they were willing to die in each other's embrace rather than at someone else's hands. The prince would not survive without her, and neither could the girl. They were the star-crossed lovers that would end in tragedy.
They both faced each other and bound their hands in the silk by the edge of the cliff. The girl took a glance at the tree, where many memories were made.
"Y/N, my sweet, are you willing to do this?" The prince said as he put a finger under her chin to usher her eyes on his own.
The girl nodded, tears blurring her eyes, and smiled.
The prince spoke the words to bind their souls together so that they would always meet no matter what world or lifetime they are in: "Blood of two, joined as one, ghostly flame, and song of shadows, two souls as embers, forged in fourteen fires, a peaceful future promised in glass, the stars stand witness, the vow spoken and unbroken through time, of darkness and light."
They slowly stepped closer to the edge, hands still locked in each other's embrace. Their foreheads touched, and they both let out a trembling laugh.
The girl smiled and said, "My prince, your eyes, they are like the stars."
The prince stepped even closer to the edge. "Yes, but it seems that you shine brighter than even them."
The pair jumped into the night, embracing death with open arms, and proclaimed their love under the sky. Under a graveyard of stars, the pair sealed their fate. Promising to meet once more in another life where the rules of society would not bind them…
                                                                      ____________________________________________
"Y/N- san I have a random question I wish to ask." Megumi spoke while walking next to her.
"Ask away, love." She responds, looking at him curiously.
"Does death scare you?"
She stops in her tracks, as does he. "What brought you upon this?"
"On my mission last week, I came across a dangerous situation where I almost jumped into death's grasp. I was wondering if a jujutsu scientist like you would fear death.
"It's not death that shakes me to the bone; it's the passage of time. It scares me to know that I will not live to see a dyson sphere come true or see complete civilizations at another point in space-time. But then again, that is the beauty of life—to show us how insignificant our lives are in this vast universe."
"When you put it like that, Y/N-san, time is much more horrifying." He says this while scratching the back of his head awkwardly.
"It is, isn't it? Anyway, where's your sensei? I was supposed to meet up with him, but it seems he is not here."
"Oh, yes, I forgot; it's your first time meeting that dumbass. He should be here soon I-"
A loud, cheery voice speaking Megumi’s name boomed across the garden, and a tall man with black, rounded sunglasses, white hair, a light blue dress shirt, and slacks walked up to them.
"Y/N-san, meet Gojo Satoru, my sensei and a total idiot. Anyway, I'm going back to my dorm. See you both later." Megumi said, sighing while walking away, leaving the two of them alone.
Gojo removed his glasses, and his eyebrows scrunched in familiarity. They both got even closer to each other, and Y/N peered into his beautiful light-blue eyes. A cold chill passed over the two of them, and they both gasped. Y/N’s hand caressed his cheek as a tear slipped from his eyes.
"Your eyes, they are like the stars."
"Yes, but it seems that you shine brighter than even them."

Wow, a fanfic (and it isnt even done technically) that escapes my google docs? The only reason it did was because the premise was suggested by @justrandomselfships and they said they were curious with what others do.
So... yeah. Behold! The Future Gadget Lab has created a new invention! But it doesn't work quite as planned...
Pairing: Evelyn (myself) X Okabe Rintaro (Steins;Gate)
Warnings: Rated T for Teen, slight perviness of characters
Word count: 1,191
Don't Hold Hands During Experiments
“And I’m done!” Daru exclaimed, standing up and stretching. “She’s ready for her first test run, team.”
“Splendid!” Okabe hopped up from where he sat on the couch, almost knocking over the two females on either side of him. Evelyn leaned against the armrest, fixing her glasses as she looked at him. Mayuri, who was sitting on the other side, retrieved her fabric from the floor where it fell. She safely stowed away her sewing needle, and looked at the two guys who now stood around the latest invention.
“Which invention is this again,” she questioned, getting up and walking over.
“This, Mayuri, is our new mind reader!” Okabe exclaimed, gesturing wildly to the gadet. It was a strange metal contraption, with two headsets wired from it. “Behold its majesty!”
“Wow, Okarin!” Mayuri put her hands together. “That sounds really cool.” “Yes, well,” he grinned, holding back a chuckle, “of course it would be cool. With the touch of a button, person A can hear person B’s thoughts thanks to our specially made headsets.”
“Or, that’s how it should work.” Daru states. Grabbing his diet coke from the table, he opened it up and took a long drink. “So, who gets to test it?” “Well, of course I’ll have to listen to the other person’s thoughts.” Okabe stated, putting his hand on his chest. “And as for the mind we shall read…” “Well, we always use bananas for experiments,” Mayuri suggested. From the couch, Evelyn started to laugh. “I already know what a banana here would say.” She got up, grabbed a banana, and walked over to the group as well. She raised the pitch of her voice and held the banana up. “ ‘Nooo, don’t use me for an experiment! Eat me! Eat me!’.” She laughed some more, Mayuri and Daru joining in. “Very well then, Songbird.” Okabe smirked as the laughter died down. “We shall spare the banana, and dig into your thoughts.”
“Wait, me?” Evelyn questioned, putting the banana back. “You sure?” “Positive.” He grabbed the headset and held it out. “Open up your mind to me, my little songbird, and let me hear your silent secrets.” Evelyn’s face went red, and paused a moment before taking the headset from him.
“Just don’t think any differently of me no matter what you hear, alright?” Evelyn murmured, putting the headset on.
“I shall not.” He promised, putting on his own. The two of them sat down on the floor, side by side. “Alright, Daru! Tell us when you’re ready!” “Alright. Turning it on.” Daru flipped a switch and pushed a button atop the machine, and immediately it started to make a loud whirring sound. Instinctively, Evelyn grabbed Okabe’s hand. He held it back, holding back a smile as he glanced over. And suddenly, the machine started to spark. Evelyn yelped as it sparked a second time and buzzed more loudly. But as quickly as it started, the machine went silent. “Daru, what happened!’ Evelyn exclaimed in a serious tone. As soon as she spoke, she made a confused face.
“I don’t know, Ev, but I think we fried it…” Daru crouched down, starting to open the back panel. “Ev?” Evelyn furrowed her brow, “But I’m-” “Okabe.” Okabe turned his head to look at Evelyn, and the two of them looked at each other in shock.
“Okarin, Evelyn, are you two okay?” Mayuri asked worriedly as the two took their headsets off, still staring at one another. “No,” They both responded in unison. “Daru,” Evelyn turned to the man. “It didn’t work as we planned.” “Well, you got into my head, that part worked.” Okabe sighed and touched his face, attempting to push up glasses that didn’t exist. “I meant to READ your mind, Evelyn, not trade seats,” Evelyn crossed her arms. “Wait, did you?” Daru’s eyes widened. “Yes, it appears that Evelyn and I somehow traded bodies.” Evelyn, though technically Okabe, stood up, and ran his hand through his now long blond hair. Meanwhile, Evelyn stood up, looking down at the lanky male body she was now in.
“This is so strange…” She murmured, looking at her hands before turning to Okabe in her body. He took off his glasses, and squinted. “Goodness woman, how blind are you?” He questioned, putting the glasses back on.
“Very blind, thank you.” She stated. In a quick motion, she cracked her neck and shoulders, and grimaced. “And how do you live with such a bad neck and upper back? I told you sleeping on that couch will mess you up!”
“I suppose I have gotten used to it.” He looked away, carefully walking around to where Daru was, and crouched down. "How long until you can get it working again?" He asked.
"Well… the thing seems kinda fried." Daru stated. "If I rush, maybe tomorrow?"
"Then make it yesterday!" Okabe stood back up.
"Why rush though man? Think of all the things you could learn like this." Daru smirked and blushed a little. "Imagine what you can do and learn in this new body."
"Hey, the body isn't new, it's mine!" Evelyn cried out.
"Gotta tell me man, what's it like having boobs like that? You know, for science."
"Well, they're a very foreign weight on my chest." Taking his hands, he cupped his breasts and squeezed lightly. "They seem a lot bigger from this angle as well, of course these hands are smaller. And more sensitive than I thought."
"Please hold that pose. I'll get my phone." Daru grinned.
"Don't you dare!" Evelyn, almost tripping, rushed over and grabbed Okabe's hands.
"Aw man," Daru sighed. The two stood for a moment, staring at each other and holding hands. "Hey you two. You okay?"
"Your hands seem so small to mine. Is this really what it's like for you?" Okabe asked.
"I guess?" Evelyn furrowed her brow, "and do I really look that short to you?" Okabe shrugged.
"This is really confusing," Mayuri caught everyone's attention as she spoke. "So Evelyn is now Okarin, and Okarin is Evelyn?"
"That is correct, Mayuri." Okabe nodded. "And it seems that until Daru has fixed the machine and we attempt to return to our own bodies, we shall have to put all other lab work on hold."
"That sounds for the best." Evelyn looks down. "I don't like the idea of trying to explain this to others."
"Well, I'll keep it a secret then." Mayuri smiles. "Oh, and Okarin, er, Evelyn I guess. Be sure to give my Oopa pillow a big hug if this bothers you more, okay?"
"I will Mayuri. Thanks."
"I have to go to work now. Hopefully when I see you both tomorrow, Okarin will be Okarin, and Evelyn will be Evelyn." Mayuri grabbed her stuff and went to the door. "Bye!"
"So be honest guys," Daru started to speak once Mayuri had left. "Isn't it at least a little hot being in each other's bodies?"
"I'm still a little frazzled by all this honestly." Evelyn walked over to the couch and sat down. She started rubbing her neck again. Okabe watched her for a few moments, before looking down.

Stunning sci-fi anime about time travelling (•ˋ _ ˊ•)
STEIN GATE (Science Fiction/Drama/Mystery) 2011-2018 - 47 episodes (2 seasons)
Rating : 10/10
Tumblr media
Nostalgic for Back to the Future? Crazy about apocalyptic dystopias? Stein Gate is for you! Okarin is a scientist on the fringes of his community, considered a mad researcher obsessed with time travel. You won't believe it either when you see him until one of his friends accidentally discovers a way to go back to the future by heating a banana in the microwave. As he delves deeper into the mysteries of time travel, the young scientist soon finds himself overwhelmed by the consequences of his discovery.
Unable to find a solution to his basic problem, Okarin goes from the time jump to the time jump, always further into the future or deeper into the past. With Kurisu's help, he will try everything to solve this succession of events that he can no longer stop. Everything changes when he realizes that a member of his entourage has come from far into the future and brings shocking news about what must be avoided. The story takes a new turn, and from avoiding accidents restricted to his knowledge, it is the future of humanity that becomes the issue of these time travels.
A beautiful romance tinged with apocalyptic colors softened by a certain amount of comedy, Stein Gate is an anime of the Seinen genre that has not stolen its reputation! The plot is so well constructed that you will get lost in its meanderings without even realizing it, and will be impressed by its outcome. A beautiful dystopia with dramatic overtones, Stein Gate's strength lies not only in its breathtaking plot but also in its characters. All much deeper than they appear, they compete in heartbreaking stories.
Faced with a life-altering choice - a classic one in this genre - between humanity and the lives of his friends, Okarin is a touching and passionate hero who you'll love to watch evolve alongside Kurisu throughout the episodes. Sit back and enjoy this sentimental sci-fi nugget for a good futuristic evening!

why don't you smile at me like that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: itaru hashida / daru x gn!reader x okabe rintarou
summary: okabe notices the way you smile at daru and decides to tease you a little bit!
Tumblr media
"why don't you smile at me like that~?"
just moments ago, you had been talking to daru, but the second he went back to his computer, okabe had sneaked up behind you.
"what…?" you turned to face the boy in the lab coat and raised an eyebrow. "what's that supposed to mean?"
okabe had a smug grin on his face, as he glanced towards daru, then back at you.
"your face lights up whenever you talk to our superhacka–"
"hacker..!" you corrected okabe, whose grin only widened.
"and then there's that. since when did you start correcting me about that? are you doing this to get on his good side~?"
you hesitated to reply for a moment, then rolled your eyes and tried to squeeze past okabe.
"if you leave now, i'll tell daru you have a crush on him–!!"
okabe grabbed your wrist and as soon as your head whipped around, you were met with his smug grin once more.
"i have no idea what you are on about! i know you're not genuinely jealous, so stop playing around, hououin kyouma!"
okabe huffed amused.
"this is the first time you called me by my real name. you really must be desperate for me to keep this secret of yours, if you'd even debase yourself like this…"
you gently smacked your friend's arm, though enough for him to wince a bit.
"if you tell daru about any of this, i'm going to do unspeakable things to you, got it kyouma~?"
you stared at okabe, who had to swallow. you really looked serious and he didn't want to anger you any further, so he decided to drop it.
"fine, my lips will stay sealed…"

That Which Binds Us

Psycho Pass: Mandatory Happiness
The Wolf Among Us
I have a mission. The mission involves you, my readers and (hopefully) followers!
My plan is to help the promotion of visual novels, so to say.
Visual Novels are interactive novels that include a visualization of the characters. You play as the heroine or hero and can decide the actions of the protagonist. Visualized characters means that you see a character spite of the person you’re currently interacting with on your screen and read the dialogue and the corresponding story in the box below the spite. The spites are static in most visual novels, however, newer ones often have dynamic character spites that are blinking or there is some kind of animation.
As an example from Ozmafia:
Tumblr media
There are aspects of visual novels that distinct them from similar genres that some people tend to brush over or there are false accusations towards VN. I will talk about a few of them:
Visual Novels are often called boring because they don’t include ‘action’ like we know from action games. You will not be really walking around or fighting and the choices often don’t have a timer. While this may seem weird to be called a game at first, I would still disagree that a visual novel can’t be as immersing as an action game. If it has a good story and character development, you can often find yourself reading throughout nights just to finish all possible routes and endings in a few days.
Otome Games are NOT the same as every other visual novel. People often tend to call the otome games that you can play on your phone a visual novel. This is NOT true. Visual novels are books and not every book is supposed to have the same genre. In addition, phone games tend to have a much shallow story and a huge price difference compared to visual novels on consoles and pc, in my opinion.
Therefore, you don’t actually know about visual novels, if you only played otome games on your phone. Moreover, otome means it is a romance game focused on dating and it is for a female audience (I mean, of course everyone can play and enjoy them but the target audience are females). That is why these games tend to sacrifice story and plot over romance.
Enough with the ranting.
However, you might wonder, what all of this has to do with me.
Sadly, I am not a developer of visual novels, but merely a curator. My task is to review the games that I have previously played, so that you don’t need to search through the masses of visual novels in order to find a good game. You only need one click.
On the navigation on the left, you can either click on the Curator Page (with all reviews) or on Reviews (that include longer reviews of the most memorable games that I know or reviews of games that are sadly not available on Steam).
Before you go blindly clicking though:
My preferences in games are romance or mystery visual novels
Although, I am really open-minded about novels as long as it’s not erotic/hentai.
So feel free to write me suggestions, what I should play next. Alternatively, if you are a developer, you can just send me a copy on Steam and I gladly review your game.
Ah, yes, but since I am not really making a living with the reviews, I can only play in my free time, which is kind of limited. So please don’t expect me to be fast with reviewing or that this page is going to be updated daily or weekly. I am trying to be as fair as possible to every game and that includes that I am not rushing through them.
So with further ado…
Welcome to my page and I hope you find what you’re searching for!
Sincerely,
Lizz

African American Literature Suggestions from NMU English Department
The English Department at Northern Michigan University has prepared this list of several dozen suggested readings in African American literature, with some materials also addressing Native American history and culture. The first section contains books that will help provide a context for the Black Lives Matter movement. It includes books that will help readers examine their own privilege and act more effectively for the greater good. Following that list is another featuring many African American authors and books. This list is by no means comprehensive, but it does provide readers a place to start. Almost all of these books are readily available in bookstores and public and university libraries.
Northern Michigan University’s English Department offers at least one course on African American literature every semester, at least one course on Native American literature every semester, and at least one additional course on non-western world literatures every semester. Department faculty also incorporate diverse material in many other courses. For more information, contact the department at [email protected]. Nonfiction, primarily addressing current events, along with some classic texts: Joni Adamson, Mei Mei Evans, and Rachel Stein, editors. The Environmental Justice Reader: Politics, Poetics, and Pedagogy. This classic collection of scholarly articles, essays, and interviews explores the links between social inequalities and unequal distribution of environmental risk. Attention is focused on the US context, but authors also consider global impacts. Michelle Alexander, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. A clear-eyed explication of how mass incarceration has created a new racial caste system obscured by the ideology of color-blindness. Essential reading for understanding our criminal justice system in relation to the histories of slavery and segregation. Carol Anderson, White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide. A very well-written but disturbing and direct analysis of the history of structural and institutionalized racism in the United States. Gloria Anzaldua, Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza. Anzaldua writes about the complexity of life on multiple borders, both literal (the border between the US/Mexico) and conceptual (the borders among languages, sexual identity, and gender). Anzaldua also crosses generic borders, moving among essay, story, history, and poetry. James Baldwin, The Fire Next Time. A classic indictment of white supremacy expressed in a searing, prophetic voice that is, simply, unmatched. Ta-Nehisi Coates, Between the World and Me. A combination of personal narrative in the form of the author’s letter to his son, historical analysis, and contemporary reportage. Angela Davis, Are Prisons Obsolete? In this succinct and carefully researched book, Davis exposes the racist and sexist underpinnings of the American prison system. This is a must-read for folks new to conversations about prison (and police) abolition. Robin DiAngelo, What Does It Mean To Be White? The author facilitates white people unpacking their biases around race, privilege, and oppression through a variety of methods and extensive research. Ejeris Dixon and Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarshnha, editors. Beyond Survival: Strategies and Stories From the Transformative Justice Movement. The book attempts to solve problems of violence at a grassroots level in minority communities, without relying on punishment, incarceration, or policing. Frederick Douglass, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. The most well-known narrative written by one of the most well-known and accomplished enslaved persons in the United States. First published in 1845 when Douglass was approximately 28 years old. W.E.B. DuBois, The Souls of Black Folk. Collection of essays in which Dubois famously prophesied that “the problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line.” Henry Louis Gates, Stony the Road: Reconstruction, White Supremacy, and the Rise of Jim Crow. Must reading, a beautifully written, scholarly, and accessible discussion of American history from Reconstruction to the beginnings of the Jim Crow era. Saidiya Hartman, Lose your Mother: A Journey Along the Atlantic Slave Route. In an attempt to locate relatives in Ghana, the author journeyed along the route her ancestors would have taken as they became enslaved in the United States. bell hooks, Black Looks: Race and Representation. A collection of essays that analyze how white supremacy is systemically maintained through, among other activities, popular culture. Harriet Jacobs, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. Narrative of a woman who escaped slavery by hiding in an attic for seven years. This book offers unique insights into the sexually predatory behavior of slave masters. Ibram X. Kendi, Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America. A detailed history not only of racist events in American history, but of the racist thinking that permitted and continues to permit these events. This excellent and readable book traces this thinking from the colonial period through the presidency of Barack Obama. Winona LaDuke, All Our Relations: Native Struggles for Land and Life Any of LaDuke's works belong on this list. This particular text explores the stories of several Indigenous communities as they struggle with environmental and cultural degradation. An incredible resource. Kiese Laymon, Heavy: An American Memoir. An intense book that questions American myths of individual success written by a man who is able to situate his own life within a much larger whole. Cherrie Moraga and Gloria Anzaldua, This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color This foundational text brings together work by writers, scholars, and activists such as Audre Lorde, Chrystos, Barbara Smith, Norma Alarcon, Nellie Wong, and many others. The book has been called a manifesto and a call to action and remains just as important and relevant as when it was published nearly 40 years ago. Toni Morrison, The Source of Self-Regard. An invaluable collection of essays and speeches from the only black woman to win a Nobel Prize in literature. Throughout her oeuvre, Morrison calls us to take "personal responsibility for alleviating social harm," an ethic she identified with Martin Luther King. Ersula J. Ore, Lynching: Violence, Rhetoric, and American Identity. Ore scrutinizes the history of lynching in America and contemporary manifestations of lynching, drawing upon the murder of Trayvon Martin and other contemporary manifestations of police brutality. Drawing upon newspapers, official records, and memoirs, as well as critical race theory, Ore outlines the connections between what was said and written, the material practices of lynching in the past, and the forms these rhetorics and practices assume now. Claudia Rankine, Citizen: An American Lyric. A description and discussion of racial aggression and micro-aggression in contemporary America. The book was selected for NMU’s Diversity Common Reader Program in 2016. Layla F. Saad, Me and White Supremacy. The author facilitates white people in unpacking their biases around race, privilege, and oppression, while also helping them understand key critical social justice terminology. Maya Schenwar, Joe Macaré, Alana Yu-lan Price, editors. Who do you Serve, Who Do You Protect? Police Violence and Resistance in the United States. The essays examine "police violence against black, brown, indigenous and other marginalized communities, miscarriages of justice, and failures of token accountability and reform measures." What are alternative measures to keep marginalized communities safe? Ozlem Sensoy and Robin DiAngelo, Is Everyone Really Equal? The authors, in very easy to read and engaging language, facilitate readers in understanding the ---isms (racism, sexism, ableism etc.) and how they intersect, helping readers see their positionality and how privilege and oppression work to perpetuate the status quo. Bryan Stevenson, Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption. An analysis of America’s criminal justice system by the lawyer who founded the Equal Justice Initiative. While upsetting, the book is also hopeful. Wendy S. Walters, Multiply / Divide: On the American Real and Surreal. In this collection of essays, Walters analyzes the racial psyche of several major American cities, emphasizing the ways bias can endanger entire communities. Booker T. Washington, Up from Slavery. Autobiography of the founder of Tuskegee Institute. Harriet Washington, Medical Apartheid. From the surgical experiments performed on enslaved black women to the contemporary recruitment of prison populations for medical research, Washington illuminates how American medicine has been--and continues to be shaped--by anti-black racism. Malcolm X, The Autobiography of Malcolm X. Autobiography of civil rights leader that traces his evolution as a thinker, speaker, and writer.
If you would like to enhance your knowledge of the rich tradition of African American literature, here are several of the most popular books and authors within that tradition, focused especially on the 20thand 21st centuries. Novels and Short Stories James Baldwin, Go Tell It on the Mountain James Baldwin, Giovanni’s Room Octavia Butler, Parable of the Sower Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man Langston Hughes, The Ways of White Folks Zora Neale Hurston, Their Eyes Were Watching God James Weldon Johnson, The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man Nella Larsen, Passing Nella Larsen, Quicksand Toni Morrison, The Bluest Eye Toni Morrison, Beloved Richard Wright, Native Son Drama Lorraine Hansberry, A Raisin in the Sun Ntozake Shange, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf August Wilson, Fences August Wilson, The Piano Lesson Poetry A good place to begin is an anthology, The Vintage Book of African American Poetry, edited by Michael S. Wow!! You love isekai too!! Here are some I think you'll like Moshi Fan Ren, Master of Ragnarock, Hataage! Kemono Michi, Gun x Sword, Citrus, My Sweet Sugar Life, Overlord, Magic Knight, Recovery of an MMO Junkie, Chaos Dragon, Arifureta, Mr Love Queens Choice, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. What animes do you like ? °.·~°·*.· ~ . *
Hello!
Lemme take a look at your list~!
As for Moshi Fanren, I’m not that much of a fan of zombies (I love post apocalypse for watching a world rebuild, but not much for zombies themselves)
I’ve actually already watched Master of Ragnarok - I remember there being a plot where his love from his life ends up getting isekai’d much later in the story, right? There was also a completely ridiculous and hilarious moment where a girl’s boob somehow just...came alive and knocked a piece of fruit off a platter she was holding. I don’t understand. it was surreal.
Kemono Michi was fun, though a bit strange.
I haven’t seen Gun x Sword before, but it reminds me of Trigun somehow from the description, I’ll give it a look when I get the chance!
As for Citrus and My Sweet Sugar Life, I probably wouldn’t enjoy them, as I’m not into yuri (or yaoi, I prefer gxb if it’s gonna be a romance anime) - that, and in the latter case I’m picky on thrillers
I really enjoyed Overlord season 1 and also 2, but season 3 really turned me off from the show, as Ains has started losing control of his villainous persona and starts doing harm to his own (human) followers. I do like Jircniv though.
If you mean Magic Knight Rayearth I really enjoyed that manga. It’s a classical isekai kind of format and I loved it. I never finished part 2, but that’s because my library didn’t have the rest. Anyone who likes isekai should try reading that, as it’s a precursor to modern isekai format
As for Recovery of an MMO Junkie - I absolutely adored that anime. I ship Moriko and Sakurai to death. They’re adorable, and I love Sakurai. Such a cutie. I really hope we get more of the anime.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Chaos Dragon before? I’ll have to give it a look.
As for Arifureta, I liked it at first, but his relationship with Yue speeds though at such a ridiculous pace it left be dizzy and completely disengaged with it, which is a problem because the rest of his relationships are dependent on the fact that his and Yue’s relationship is the most epic of epic. Also, Hajime is just a capital J jerk. It reminded me of Shield Hero if people weren’t constantly being like ‘Naofumi stop being a dick for five seconds pls’
I actually play Mr. Love Queen’s Choice! I’m caught up with the english release of the game and I know some stuff that happens in the future. Currently I’m trying to ease my father into watching the anime, since the story is so good but I won’t be convincing him to play a girl game any time soon, lol
I’ve never heard of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint before but the power sounds really cool, so I’ll look into it and see if I can find it, even though the genre isn’t really my favorite.
As for anime I already like, hm...well I might forget some but off the top of my head some of my favorites are:
Dragon ball (all of them except GT, which had potential but really squandered it hard. Super has its issues, but it’s still ongoing and hasn’t started randomly throwing away characters, nor given Vegeta a buzz cut)
Fushigi Yuugi - the manga, the anime wasn’t done very well honestly. I actually hate the primary romance and Miaka’s just...almost unbearable, but I love the whole concept and world and the characters so much that it’s one of my all time favorites anyway. I of course read all of Genbu Kaiden and am reading Byakko Ibun too.
Video Girl Ai - There’s an anime running now called Rent-a-Girlfriend, but Video Girl Ai did this already, first, and way better. Just not the anime. The anime only covers the first three graphic novels of like...10?
Naruto is a given, obviously, it’s probably one of the best battle shounen anime there are, especially at accomplishing things other ones fail to do properly.
I also enjoy Black Clover and I kind of liked Fairy Tail but it’s a little silly, and I don’t like Natsu. If you don’t like the protagonist of a shounen anime that’s gonna be a problem. Though to be fair I read literally two panels of Asta and went “Wow, I hate him.” but he almost immediately gets better, and is one of the smarter shounen leads.
Other anime I enjoy...hmm. Tenchi, of course - not Tenchi in Tokyo - Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2 though I never finished either. I really wish I still had the PSX Inuyasha game where you could pick who Kagome dated, boohoo. Seven Deadly Sins, though the latest season has been boring, My Hero Academia though probably not as much as most people would, Rage of Bahamut was great and Favaro needs to get back with Amira already. Fate Stay Night, naturally, though I don’t care for heaven’s feel. I need more of Kuromukuro to be made, so the samurai and his girlfriend can finally be reunited again. Despite its weird ending, I also liked Chobits
I also liked Orange, CLANNAD, Steins;Gate (and 0) and SukaSuka/WorldEnd because I guess I like suffering. I was there for when .hack//SIGN was starting out, so I’m always going to be a fan of that bizarre, convoluted mess of a mystery.
I started Fruits Basket but dropped it as soon as I realized who Tohru would end up with, because I hate a love triangle where I already know the result from the beginning. I just don’t like love triangles at all, honestly, partly because I never prefer the canon ending. (and thus if I can tell it’s a triangle but not who will win - which is rare - I still don’t enjoy it due to anxiousness). I liked Free! but the fandom is so annoying I got tired of the show and dropped it. I enjoy Bleach, but I feel like it peaked in the Soul Society arc, and the filler kills me.
I’m sure I’m missing some, but it’s what I can think of right off.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Part 1 - First game (Turnabout Sisters, Turnabout Samurai and Turnabout Goodbyes)
Tumblr media
So, I was going to buy this on Steam, but then I recently got a Nintendo Switch (so I can play Code Realize and Collar x Malice next year loll), and it was on sale! Since I had no games (I bought World End Syndrome but it’s not here yet), and I really wanted to try playing stuff, so I bought it XD Two of my friends really recommend it as well, so yeah I would have bought it some day anyway~ I think I should have bought an SD card with bigger storage than 64gb though… (EDIT: I did...)
Anyway, the game! It’s a bit sudden to be thrown into trial all of a sudden, but Wright is a newbie lawyer anyway so I guess it’s all good loll. Kinda funny that the questions the reader has to answer are simple stuff like the victim’s name etc but I guess it helps you get used to remembering things, and looking over evidence etc if you don’t remember. Because I did forget the victim’s name hahaha. Honestly though, the style of the game is really cool and different, I really like the transitions for effect and I love the big font “hold it!” and “objection!” has hahaha. Mia is very helpful. In terms of the case itself, it was a simple and silly one, mainly because of Larry, he’s so dramatic and ridiculous, it’s funny. Note though, this is probably blasphemy to others but I’m playing with a walkthrough (i.e. I pick my answers and then double check with the walkthrough), I just don’t find it fun or have the time to explore wrong answers anymore tbh (backlog of VNs is long, I’ve got at least 6 more games). Anyway, I like how the game wants you to think but you don’t necessarily need to think too hard (for now), and it’s all done in a not so serious way that makes it fun. Like, I loved it when the judge said Larry was not guilty and confetti started falling down on the screen hahahaha. I think this game will be a great break from Steins;Gate 0 right now lol.
Tumblr media
Turnabout Sisters I remember trying to watch the anime of Ace Attorney (which sucked, it was like the game but all the fun was gone because it was less interactive yet still played out like a game, it was weird) and being shocked that Mia died. I was so sad because I liked her, she seemed nice and cool. I kinda forgot about all that until this part started up and then I was like oh yeah!! Poor sister got arrested for it though, but I guess Phoenix needs a reason to do something. It was saddening when the sister didn’t have anyone to defend her😞 It was sweet when he decided to defend her, since he became a lawyer because he wanted to become someone that could look out for people who had no one by their side… When he says it like that…it’s hard to not admire how kind he is.
Lmaooo at Miss May and the bellboy though, I love how weirdly crazy they both are. May is like fake and sweet when she’s in her “cute” mode, but becomes super aggressive when angered (such as being caught out for lying), and the bellboy is just thankful that now the hotel is more popular because a murderer (May is being suspected now) lived there hahahaha. Everyone is so eccentric in this world. I find their mother’s story saddening though, she was probably pressured by the police into finding the culprit for a case with her spirit medium powers, but then she failed and the media got wind of it, and the backlash she received as a “fake” made her disappear. Disgusted that Grossberg was the one who told White (Mia’s killer) about the medium thing for money, and White then leaked it to the media! But I think the worst is that Mia tried her best all these years to out White for being the one who ruined her mother’s life (as well as many others with his blackmailing leading them to suicide), but she got killed by him… It’s so unfair.. I’m glad Maya is out though, and lmao at her taking it so seriously when you pick the option of telling her to help break Phoenix out (since he’s in detention now for suspected murder because of White’s influence). She’s so cute hahaha.
Well, that was a crazy trial lol, not only was White a chronic liar that was allowed to “amend” his testimony several times, Edgeworth was pretty apt at trying to keep him from being caught. I knew the receipt would show when the lamp was bought! Kinda obvious when he mentioned that he saw it last week I guess, gotta catch him somewhere haha. I guess the lesson is to update your furniture often so you can catch murderers😂 It was really nice to see Mia’s spirit inside Maya helping Phoenix and cheering them on in the epilogue though, I wonder if we’ll see her again? I definitely like Mia more than Maya😞 But I guess with Maya, they’ll learn and grow together as they do their best for the law office?
Tumblr media
Turnabout Samurai I love Oldbag, she’s so whatever with everything, she’s hilarious. Not only does she talk nonstop complaining about young people these days, she really knows how to drag people into her pace lol. The defendant Will looks like a lion hahaha, except he’s one with no teeth since he seems way too gentle to be able to do anything. Anyway, gotta love how dodgy Oldbag is by omitting evidence, remembering things suddenly, as well as exposing that the directors etc were actually there as well but the studio wanted her to hide it. Btw, I love it when Phoenix wants to buy time by accusing someone else of the murder, and one of the options was the grade school boy, and when you pick the option, even Phoenix himself is startled that he said it and he himself doesn’t even know how he should support this as a possibility since the kid couldn’t have held the weapon hahaha.
HAHAHA THE GREAT SAL MANELLA. That name lmaoo😂😂 Nice to see Mia again to help Phoenix, I love her and how she was so capable in getting the kid to talk. I found it really interesting going through the kid’s testimony, since it really presented a proper reason for the kid to lie and have obstructed the court from getting to know the truth. Not only is he a kid, he’s a kid that believes his hero Steel Samurai would never lose, so him deleting the photos of him losing to the villain and lying about him winning are plausible and interesting to uncover, I liked that part. I don’t know why I never thought of the possibility that Jack Hammer was actually the Steel Samurai, even though I questioned from the beginning whether Studio One was really where he was killed haha. Now that it’s apparent the victim dressed as the Steel Samurai and went to Studio Two where everyone else was, it is now possible for the producer and them to have killed the victim within the 15 minute break they had… Oh yeah lmao when the kid came to testify and he was too short so they got him a box to stand on, I love little details like that hahaha.
Well, I really liked that! I really liked how everything ended up wrapping up and how the story tied together. I had some trouble (as usual!) with the presenting evidence parts (because I suck), but yeah that was great! I don’t know why it never clicked, but I really missed the thought that Hammer was the one who wanted to kill Vasquez and that’s why he did all that pretending to be the Steel Samurai and hiding his tracks etc, so he could blame the killing on Powers after. He had enough of being blackmailed and used by Vasquez these 5 years for accidentally killing a person on set (of which she covered up, since someone took a photo of it). It’s kinda ironic that he ended up dying in the same way as the person he accidentally killed. Maybe Studio Two really is cursed lol. But yeah, anyway, I really liked the piecing of all the evidence and clues! Seeing it unravel the way it did really made sense, especially when things I noticed but didn’t know what to think about were talked about, such as the small incinerator next to the van. I couldn’t piece together the story myself, but when they did, it was great, I liked this case. I also really liked how Edgeworth suddenly switched sides and started questioning the witness and the holes in her testimony as well because he knew that she was the killer and he wanted to catch her in her lies, since Phoenix missed some things. They were a nice combo haha.
Tumblr media
Turnabout Goodbyes I didn’t think Edgeworth would become a defendant! But I guess what I’m most shocked about is that Edgeworth’s father was the victim in the DL-6 incident involving Mia and Maya’s mother, Misty Fey who was the spirit medium helping out with the case that led her to be labelled as a fraud. Edgeworth seems to really like Phoenix but can’t seem to be honest for some reason, hmmm, and I guess his father’s death is related to why he threw away his dream of becoming a great defence attorney like his father and instead became a prosecutor? Oh.. Edgeworth actually witnessed his father’s murder…and the suspect they caught was the one Misty pointed out as the killer through talking to the victim’s spirit, since he was the only one that could have done it, and yet he was declared innocent with the help of the defence attorney at that time, Hammond. And now, the victim in the current case is Hammond… I guess the police would think of that as Edgeworth’s motive to kill him… I wonder if Edgeworth lost all faith in defence attorneys because of that incident with his father.. But I’m happy that the weird Detective Gumshoe really respects Edgeworth and believes in him even though others don’t, I thought it was really nice that he acknowledged and believes that they can really work hard to capture criminals because they know that Edgeworth will prosecute them for their crimes. It’s like they both believe in their work and through that, they do their best to catch these criminals.
Well, it was obvious that the girl was dodgy because it’s definitely impossible to see who shot who when it’s foggy, and at night, and at a far distance! But it’s helpful to prove that she wasn’t even focused on the boat and was looking for the “monster” Gourdy that supposedly appears there. Gotta admit that Karma is hilarious, especially when he insults the witness’s intelligence for looking for a monster hahahaha. Also loved it when even the judge couldn’t go against him and followed his pace, glad the judge eventually stood his ground though lol. I still find it so fascinating that in this world, all trials must be tried and decided within 3 days so that the justice system isn’t clogged with cases. Aww it was so sweet to learn from Gumshoe that Edgeworth really appreciated Maya causing a fuss in the trial and giving the opportunity for Phoenix to cross examine what Lotta slipped up on. Lmao when he told Phoenix that Edgeworth would pay for her bail and he started thinking about whether Edgeworth would pay his rent for this month too hahahaha. Omgg, lmao at Gourdy the monster actually being Larry trying to inflate the Steel Samurai balloon and failing, causing it to fly like a rocket into the lake lolll. I guess he does deserve having the dog eat all his Samurai dogs loll. It was expected, but it’s kinda funny to see Larry come to save the day when Edgeworth was declared guilty haha.
Tumblr media
Omgg, their back story was so touching! I thought it was so cute seeing little Edgeworth say “objection!”, and Edgeworth is right, if there’s no evidence, and if he didn’t do it, then he shouldn’t admit it! I also loved Larry saying “if he didn’t do it, then he didn’t do it”, those words were so simple but so true. I can’t believe the whole class put Phoenix on “class trial” to get him to admit something he didn’t do, and even the teacher didn’t believe him, like whaaat, great teaching right there. But I guess it’s because of how dodgy they all were, Phoenix, Larry and Edgeworth got to become friends. I found it really sweet that although Edgeworth transferred out because of the DL-6 incident, and never contacted them again, and ignored Phoenix when he tried to talk to him, it was really touching of Phoenix to become a defence attorney just so that he can meet Edgeworth again. Edgeworth is a prosecutor so regardless of what he wanted, he’d have to face Phoenix eventually and I thought that was really cute. Lmao at Larry completely forgetting about such an impactful incident on Phoenix’s life, but it’s so him. He’s silly, but he’s a great guy, and he really helped out with this testimony! It was all over the place, but he heard really important things and you gotta be glad he came to save the day! I honestly didn’t expect the murder to have occurred before midnight, and that the one in the boat with Edgeworth was actually not the victim but the murderer. It’s honestly…hard to believe and accept that Edgeworth could be the one who killed his father when he threw a gun (evidence?) that was lying next to him to protect his father from Yogi who was deprived of oxygen. I’m still sceptical of that though, what about the hole in the glass? And why would there be a person telling Yogi to get revenge on Edgeworth etc for ruining his life (for being suspected, losing his career etc) and making him kill Hammond etc. Whyyyy would they show von Karma the letter!! It’s such crucial evidence!! I’m not surprised he used a stun gun on them to steal the letter back!
Anyway, that was good, I really liked this case. I think the most saddening thing was discovering that Yogi really was innocent and really had his whole life ruined from this incident. It was terrible to hear that Hammond got him an innocent verdict but it was actually at the cost of declaring him of unsound mind, so he’s been pretending to be “insane” all these years, especially after his fiancee committed suicide after this incident. He wasn’t wrongly accused for being the murderer and yet he still lost his career, his partner and everything in his life. It was really saddening to think about tbh. As for von Karma, when this case first came about, I really didn’t expect him to be the killer in the DL-6 incident, I thought he was interestingly eccentric with how he wants everything to be perfect and was super arrogant and would always strive for guilty verdicts but I guess with the comedy in the game, I didn’t really expect the cost of his actions. He was caught for giving faulty evidence by Edgeworth’s father Gregory, and that is the one and only scar to his record. He’s been dodgy all this time and probably incriminating many innocent people in these 15 years at least, sigh. I guess I didn’t think that just because there was an opportunity, he would actually kill Gregory (when Miles threw the gun and it ended up landing near him). I also didn’t expect him to have been shot by that misfire and for him to never have taken that bullet out of his shoulder because he didn’t want to create any doctors as a witness to this! Which is understandable though, but wow, he’s pretty hardcore. So yeah, that was awesome and I think it was my favourite case! I really liked how things flowed and how everything ended up piecing together like that. It’s really cool to see how the evidence matches up together.
Tumblr media
Lmao at Larry having been the thief that stole Edgeworth’s money in that Phoenix class trial incident, I honestly thought it might be him but I was like nahh. And it was him hahahaha omg. I guess the deserves getting dumped by girls all the time lol. The photo Lotta took at the end was nice, I also really liked the little snippets showing all the previous witnesses lives, lmao at that bellboy becoming the owner or something lol! Although Maya isn’t useless and really helps Phoenix by just being there and helping him think through things etc, I do think it’s good for her to complete her spirit medium training first and then come back. It’s important for her to have her own goals and stuff after all, so I’m glad she did that.

You Go First
Summary: A cute date to a Halloween Carnival turns terrifying when you and your boyfriend, Chris, enter the Haunted House.
Pairing: Chris Evans x Reader
Words: 2095
A/N: I am scared of things, and only watch spooky stuff during Halloween, so this is inspired by me being a scaredy cat. This is for @until-theend-oftheline’s Marvelous Halloween Challenge!
“Ahh! The Halloween Carnival!!” you tugged Chris’s arm, forcing him to pick up his speed as you approached the gate decorated in spider webs and bones.
“You’re going to pull my arm out of its socket!” Chris laughed.
“Then we’ll just get you a new one if it means you’ll hurry up!” you replied, pointing to a plastic arm dangling from the gate.
“But then I won’t be able to pull a helicopter as well,” he squeezed your hand, knowing fully well that the image of him caught between a helicopter and a roof beam from Civil War had been your computer background when the two of you had first met in that coffee shop way back when.
“Well, we can’t have that,” you slowed your pace so you were side-by-side and no longer dragging him along.
At the gate you paid the volunteer collecting donations for the event. Chris grabbed a map of the carnival and opened it up for you both to look at.
“I can’t believe they fit a corn maze, a haunted house, and a pumpkin patch all in one park in the middle of the city,” you said looking around, your eyes wide in fascination and adoration.
Halloween had always been your favorite holiday, and Chris had fully embraced your love for it. Each year he help you to decorate his house and your apartment with pumpkins, spell books, and vials of “potions” you had made yourself. Last year he had created his own jack-o-lantern pattern of Dodger for when you carved pumpkins. This year he had taken the initiative to research couples costumes, which you discovered when he left his laptop open back in June. His dedication to the spooky season made you fall further in love with him.
Chris put his arm around you and squeezed you against him, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
You got on your tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek, “You got that right!”
“So, where to first?” Chris asked, holding the map out again.
“Hm, well, pumpkins should be last because I don’t want to carry one of those around all night. And as much as I believe in us, I don’t think we’d make it out of the corn maze once it gets dark, so we should probably tackle that first. Plus, it says that we win a prize if we can solve the puzzle at the end!”
“You sure you’ll be able to sleep if we do the haunted house after dark?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.
“As long as I have you with me, I should be ok,” you replied with a slight smile, squeezing his arm.
“Alright, I’m holding you to that,” Chris raised his eyebrow at you.
“We may just have to watch a comedy when we get home….”
“I figured as much,” Chris hugged you, “To the corn maze?”
“To the corn maze!”
Hand in hand you went through the maze, stealing kisses in the dead ends you found yourselves in. After 30 minutes, you successfully found all of the spots within the maze that you needed to gather the clues to solve the puzzle for your prize. As you exited the maze, a carnival volunteer greeted you.
“Did you solve the puzzle?” the volunteer asked.
“Yes!” you replied excitedly, “It’s ‘Everybody hail to the pumpkin king!’”
“That is correct!” the volunteer replied, grabbing two carmel apple suckers from the box behind him. You both accepted them and thanked him before walking away.
“These are my favorite,” you moaned in excitement, hastily moving to unwrap the sucker.
“Hold it,” Chris grabbed your hand, “Don’t you want to eat dinner before eating that?”
“Ugh, fine,” you replied annoyed, “What’s for dinner, then?”
“Apple cider donuts?”
“Just so I have it straight, you’re telling me I can’t eat my sucker now, but I can go have donuts for dinner?”
“Yep,” Chris said with a sly smile.
“You’re a fun sucker,” you tapped him on the shoulder with your sucker as you emphasized every word.
“And you are soooo punny.”
“I know,” you smiled, letting Chris take you by the hand and lead you to the food stands.
Chris bought each of you a donut, which you happily ate accompanied with pumpkin spice lattes. You then wandered the various booths set up by local businesses.
“OH MY GOD, CHRIS!!” you screamed, pulling him under one of the tents which was filled with pet Halloween costumes. “Can we PLEASE get one for Dodger??”
“Um, nah, he doesn’t need one.”
“But Chrissss, look at how cute this dinosaur costume is! Or the mermaid one? AH! Or the astronaut one??”
“Yes, they’re cute, but no.”
“Why noooootttttt???”
Chris let out a long sigh, “It was supposed to be a surprise, but I already got Dodger a costume so that he’ll match with us….”
“SHUT UP! AHHH THAT’S AMAZING! UGH I LOVE YOU!” you flung your arms around him and showered him with kisses in the very small booth, much to the chagrin of the other shoppers.
Chris pulled you off of him, laughing, “Yes, I did and I love you too! Now, let’s get out of here,” he led you out of the tent and away from the stares.
You were in a fantastic mood as you continued through the other booths. You walked through everything there was to see and found yourselves in front of the haunted house.
“Well, are you ready?” Chris asked, squeezing your hand.
“Yep!” you said, putting on a brave face.
“Then let’s do it. Do you want to go first or should I?”
“Um….I’ll let you lead the way,” you said anxiously, “Since you’re my muscle man, you can scare off any of the spooky things before I see them,” you squeezed his bicep.
“Alright, babe, here we go!” Chris entered the haunted house and you followed after him.
You walked through the first room and looked around. There were the classic holographic photos that changed from old fashioned people into skeletons when you walked past them and dangling rubber bats. You loosened your tight grip on Chris’s hand.
“You doing alright?” Chris asked, pausing.
“Yeah, no big deal in here,” you smiled.
“Good,” he gently squeezed your hand, “Do you want to lead the way then?”
“Sure,” you puffed out your chest.
He playfully slapped your butt as you went in front of him. You giggled as you took his hand, walking into the next room.
You were blinded by strobe lights as you stepped inside, hardly able to see in front of you. You instantly regretted offering to take the lead and slowed down so you could feel Chris behind you.
“Did you see that?” you shrieked as you thought you saw figures moving ahead, but couldn’t be sure if it was just the strobes playing tricks on your eyes.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got you baby,” he put his hands on your waist and led you from behind through the room, wrapping you into a tight hug as soon as you were out of the strobe lights.
The next room was a hospital setting, with limbs in scales and bodies on tables. From the side of the room, a nurse pulling a wheelchair suddenly appeared, causing you to jolt. The  nurse turned around and had a mangled face, with an eyeball falling out of its socket. She came towards you holding a syringe with a giant needle. You tried to avoid walking by her, and ended up right next to one of the tables, where the body suddenly came to life and groaned. You screamed so loudly your throat hurt. You practically ran into the next room.
In the new room, you found yourself in a graveyard. Tombstones were scattered throughout the room and one tombstone had a bump in front of it as though it were freshly dug dirt.
“Ok, this one seems less spooky,” you said hesitantly.
“I think so too,” Chris kissed the top of your head.
You tip-toed through the room and heard the rustling of leaves. You turned to look and the leaves atop the “fresh” grave were moving. You felt hands grab you from the back and you screamed, stumbling over your own feet as you turned around to see your assailant. You landed hard on the floor and looked up to see horror on Chris’s face as he rushed to you.
“(Y/N)! I’m so sorry!”
“What the fuck??” you were trying to regain your breath.
A zombie ran over to you and knelt down with a first aid kit.
“Are you ok?” the zombie asked.
“I’m fine,” you replied, giving Chris a dirty look.
“It felt like a good opportunity to scare you…I didn’t mean for you to fall,” Chris helped you up.
“You’re ok, though?” the zombie asked, “If we have any injuries we need to let the crew leader know to shut down the house for a bit so we can make sure that there is nothing that will trip people again.”
“I tripped over myself, not a prop. I’m really ok, thank you,” you said to the zombie.
“Alright, cool, continue on through, then!” the zombie replied before leaving.
“You jerk!” you elbowed Chris in the gut. “It might be funny to go around pranking people in comic shops, but don’t you dare scare me like that again. Otherwise you’ll be on the couch and Dodger and I will share the bed.”
“I’m so sorry!” he wrapped you up in a hug.
“You have to lead the way through the rest of this as punishment. And I swear Christopher if you pull something like that again…”
“Yeah, I’ll be on the couch,” he grabbed your hand and led the way out of the room.
You walked into the next room which was lined wall to wall in dolls.
“Oh fuck,” you muttered under your breath, tightening your grip on Chris’s hand.
Dolls were your biggest fear. You couldn’t even bring yourself to watch the Chucky movies. R. L. Stein’s Slappy character had been enough to give you nightmares.
“It’s alright, baby,” Chris said, rubbing the top of your thumb with his own.
You both walked through the room slowly. You couldnt help it, the fear all but paralyzing you, keeping you from moving any faster. You were halfway through the room when Steve jumped.
“Shit!” he yelled, causing you to scream.
The dolls on the floor had come to life and were crawling towards you. All of their eyes were glowing and it looked as though blood was dripping from their mouths
“Oh my god, run run run!!!!” you screamed, tears streaming from your eyes as you pushed him forward.
You got out of the doll room and found yourselves surrounded by crypts. You clutched your heart and Chris wiped the tears from your eyes, rubbing your shoulders to calm you down.
“That was fucking terrifying,” Chris said.
All you could do was nod in agreement, still trying to catch your breath and slow your heart rate. You and Chris both turned as you heard a coffin squeak open. A vampire sat up inside and began to lunge at you as a mummy entered from behind it.
“(Y/N), it’s your favorites!” Chris lifted your chin to look at the new monsters who appeared.
“A mummy and Drac!” a smile re-appeared on your face.
“Dammit, we’re never the scary ones,” you heard the mummy complain as it walked back to its hiding place.
“Whoops,” you muttered to Chris.
He laughed as he took your hand and led you through the next door and you felt the cool air on your face.
“Free at last,” you took a deep breath, smelling apples in the distance.
Chris wrapped you up in a tight hug, “I”m sorry again for scaring you in there.”
“Lucky for you, I forgot about it as soon as we were in that horrifying doll room. But now I remembered and you owe me.”
“What do I owe you?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“As my ‘feel-good’ movie tonight, I want to watch either What’s Your Number or Perfect Score.”
“Seriously?” Chris groaned.
“Yes,” you replied with a mischievous grin.
“Why those two?”
“Because you’re so sexy in What’s Your Number and you’re such a dorkus in Perfect Score.”
“I’m a douchebag in What’s Your Number and Perfect Score is embarrassing. Can’t we just watch something else?”
“How about The Bronze??”
“Only if we invite Seb.”
“Deal,” you grinned, “Now let’s go get me a pumpkin!”

Lord Fandral kissed Lady Elise’s temple and then held her close. Both of them finally caught their breath. Beads of sweat stuck to Fandral’s face. He chuckled while tucking a piece of hair behind Elise’s ear.
“What is it?” she asked, enjoying the tender moment. The Lord’s bedroom was far away from everyone else in the Eyrie. Elise wondered more than once why she never heard any lovemaking from Lia and Loki. Now, she knew why. She could scream and squeal all she wanted, and no one could hear her. The bed was larger and warmer than anything she’d slept on, but it was the company she was most thankful for.
“Just a thought, nothing more, love,” Fandral assured her.
“Tell me anyways,” she smiled. Fandral cracked another smile. She always said that to him. ‘Tell me anyways’. It was almost like their first meeting eleven months ago. Fandral stormed out of the war room in Highgarden. He was tired of being surrounded by grumpy, old men who couldn’t agree on anything. He was tired of this war and it had barely started. He went to the kitchens to grab something. An apple. Maybe some bread. A lot of ale.
He swiped a stein from a shelf and poured himself some ale. He gulped it all down and poured himself some more. He drank that too in less than a breath. Then he heard her.
“Are you alright?” she asked. Her blonde curls were a mess. Her eyes had bags and her arms were filled with towels. Yet, she asked him how he was. Fandral shook his head.
“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about me,” he waved her off while pouring himself another ale.
“Tell me anyways,” she said. Fandral looked back up to her and saw her kind smile, and then he never wanted anyone else to smile at him again. After a long chat and more ale, Fandral found himself dizzy and drunk, but not enough to forget her.
He gathered flowers for her and left them in places she would find. They would meet in secret and trade more than just stories. Fandral found himself disgusted whenever he would try to flirt and charm other young women. Some days, he woke up thinking of her. He had himself another moment by just looking at her.
“What is it?” she giggled. Their noses brushing against each other.
“It’s nothing,” he shook his head.
“Tell me anyways,” she smiled. Fandral said something to her, he’d never thought he would say.
“There are plans to move forward and leave Highgarden. Come with me, Elise.” They were never too far apart ever again. They rode together to the Eyrie. They stayed together at the Eyrie. Now, they ruled it as Lord and Lady. Fandral stroked her hair, listening to the fire crackle behind him. He shifted his weight above her.
“I was thinking about us. Where we are. Who we are—
“And?”
“I never thought I would be here. I-I mean, Lord and Lady of the Eyrie. I’m a lord. I have a wife, and I love her. I’m rebelling against the king. And-and I want a family. With you. I can’t believe I’m saying that. I told myself when I was young that I would never marry and have children. I always wanted to fuck the first thing I saw, but here I am.” Elise giggled.
“You are so stupid,” Elise took each side of his face and brought herself close. “You are worth much more than what you are selling yourself as.”
“I am not worthy of you. How did someone like you fall in love with someone like me?”
“Easy. You made me feel loved again after when I felt like I was worthless.” Elise kissed him. He kissed her back with dozens of small kisses covering her face. She basked in it. The love that grew in her heart had become a garden. Perhaps, it was time to build on the garden more. “Children? Are you sure? When we—
“I know what I said when we started courting,” Fandral interjected. “Things have changed now. Our family will rule this seat for centuries. But we need a family first. What do you say?” Fandral’s face softened. He lived his life be carefree and lived life to his accords, but now what mattered the most to him was another’s opinion.
“I would like to see a little lord or lady running about, I think,” Elise bit her lip before she smiled. Fandral buried himself between her neck and shoulder, holing her tight as he could.
“I would like you to be a mother,” he whispered. “There’s so much love in you. I should expect our children to have their mother’s heart.” Fandral moved upward to look at her eyes. He compared them to nature. When she was upset, they were wet grass. Soaking up every bit of the pouring rain. When she was angry, they were a swamp. Thick and dangerously deceiving. When she was happy, they were the feeling of running in an open field or the color in her favorite dress.
Fandral moved closer, but before they could begin. A sharp, constant pounding on their door interrupted the pair. The door swung open to reveal a knight, dressed in Iron Island armor, whose eyes were more than wide awake.
“My lord, they’re here.” Is all he said.
:Lia’s POV:
I didn’t know what I was thinking. Maybe I truly missed home much more than I thought. Maybe I was hungry. I took a horse from one of my men and jumped on it. The horse flew and took the lead. He huffed and galloped his way all the way to the castle gates. I jumped off the horse to see the same sleepy knight, Ser Dunham.
“Ser Dunham!” I shouted with joy. “Ser Dunham!” A snort and two cough later, I see the same big-nosed man guarding the gates as he did when I was young. His two small eyes lit up.
“My lady? Cecelia? Is that you, Cecelia?”
I nodded my head. “Yes! It’s me!” I laughed as I heard Ser Dunham make his way to open the gates. They flew open with Ser Dunham not falling too behind. His arms were wide and I jumped into them with all the energy I could muster. His big arms wrapped around me, and I felt it. I was home.
The first place I went to was the first place I knew to find my mother and father. I ran into the queen’s gardens without much warning and hugged my father from behind.
“Ah! Amaryllis what is—Cecelia?!”
“Cecelia! Oh, it’s you!” My mother exclaimed. Her arms reached for mine and I found comfort in her embrace.
“I’m home!” I laughed into her chest. I thought I felt joy before, but not like this. My face grew wet while my parents held me. This moment could last forever. In the past months, I felt so unsafe, angry, and lost. Now I was home. I didn’t need to worry any longer. I was safe.
After what felt like happy hours, I was reunited with everyone in the castle. My people who also returned home found love and embrace with their families and friends. Loki’s men found friendship and returning hospitality. And the dwarves found a beautiful sanctuary. One that looked more beautiful than anything they had ever seen. Then, my father asked the question.
“My dearest, why are you here? Where’s Loki?”
I took my Lord Father into his war room. Many things had changed. He had raven messages on the walls. Reports and details from different spies and paid thieves were stabbed into the map and paper. He would not chance Highgarden again.
“We were here in this forest. Loki and his sorcerers created a barrier around us. One could not see it with the eye, but when coming in a certain distance from it, it would ripple.” I explained to my father. He nodded for me to continue. “Something triggered that rippling. We had a sanctuary below the camp, so we hid down there. I do not know what happened above, but the dwarves heard screaming. So, I opened the door to our escape and it led me here.”
“And what of the battle?”
“What do you mean?” I asked. “I told you. We heard screaming. It didn’t sound good.”
“Is he dead?” My father asked. I narrowed my eyes at him.
“Is who dead?”
“Loki.” My father said. I felt my entire self turn white. As if ice had casted it’s magic on me and I could not move. I felt my eyes go wide and my heart stop. Loki. He could be dead. He could be rotting in the ground and the fallen crown would remain. My hands shook aggressively while my breath had finally caught onto my emotions. I held my center out of fear of falling apart.
My father held me up and watched my eyes water and blink. Realizing what he said may have been true, my father squeezed me against him.
“Hold on, my brave girl. My good, brave girl. Hold on for me. Hold on for him.”
Thus began my father’s search. He gathered up his best spies, scouts, and thieves. He told the spies to go to different kingdoms. Gather any intel from pubs, halls, or brothels and bring it back home. He ordered the scouts to search the forest. Find anything. Anyone. Bring them back home. Then, he asked a malicious thing of the thieves.
Find who attacked us, then kill them.
That night, I sat in my old bedroom, watching the fire crackle. The thoughts ran through my head faster than the horses my father sent out. What if he was dead? What if he was dead? What if he was dead? What if he was dead? The only question I didn’t want an answer to. I buried my head into my arms.
“He’s going to be okay,” I quietly whispered to my stomach. “He wouldn’t leave us. Not now. He wouldn’t do that to us.” A soft knock on the door revealed my mother with a warm drink in her hand. She walked carefully over to me and sat with me. Her hand rubbed up and down my back.
“Nothing yet,” she said without me asking the question. “Take this. It will help calm you.” The milky tea was warm in my hands, and it tasted sweet on my tongue.
“There’s something I need to tell you. Something I couldn’t write in a letter,” I said.
“Oh?” Her eyebrows knitted. “Is everything alright?”
“I’m with child, Mother.”
My mother’s face turned into ecstatic joy. Her arms wrapped around me as she kissed my forehead many times over. I could hear her squealing.
“How wonderful! How absolutely joyous! There’s so much to do! There’s regular visits with the midwife and then there’s the showering and then—
My mother stopped speaking when she felt my wet face. Suddenly, her joy had fallen back to the ground. She held onto me tighter. “But we don’t need to worry about that now. Right now, you just fall asleep and I will be right here by you.”
The night had felt like an eternity as if the darkness would never fade or turn into any sunlight. Like the Long Night had come early. When sunrise did come, I was watching the gates for any man to come through them. My mother had to pry me away and lay me down. What else could I do? What more could be done? I cried into my pillow once more before finally slipping away from this world.
I awoke to a gentle nudge in my shoulder. I turned to see my father who towered over the bed. He sat at edge with me, offering to hold my hand.
“Father? I—
“I’m so sorry.” My father let out a long sigh. A terrible feeling settled in my stomach. I started to shake my head.
“No, no, no,no—
My father squeezed my arm. “There was an attack on the Eyrie. An army of Dark and Light Elves. They took it and killed the Lord and Lady.”
Elise.
I felt the world falling apart. My stomach dropped through the floors and beyond that. I felt gravity push me down into the earth and I hoped it would. I didn’t want to come back up again. I collapsed into my bed and screamed. All I could was scream while several fluids cover my face. Elise was dead. She was a Lady. I had made her one. I left The Eyrie to my best friend and now she was dead.
I saw her blonde curls and laughing smile. I would never see it again.
I started to hit and punch at whatever I could get my hands on. This war had taken enough from me. It attacked my home. It took boys from their mothers. And now it took Elise.
What if it took Loki too?
