September 5th - We report a windy night. Ribbons of clouds are going by fast and it seems like the sky is spinning over our head. The moon set hours ago, the night is dark, and we absolutely cannot tell where we are going. We are completely lost, actually.

September 12th - We report: not so long ago here, the grass had yellowed entirely, become dry, been hopelessly stomped to the ground by the summer heat. But with these days of heavy rain and the ones with intermittent moments of sunshine too, it is like a short spring shoved in between seasons.

September 19th - We report, on a day full of electricity, the wind turbines are spinning very fast and steadily, and the sun beaming down on the fields is making the sky look so much darker in comparison. We can still hear some crickets even as the weather keeps getting colder.

September 26th - We report: the house got drenched in golden light, in a way that had us immediately look out the window. The whole sky was lit up, and the world around us was in shades that we had never seen before. We stepped outside to take it in. The light changed again after a few minutes.

October 4th - We report: this morning, for breakfast, our expert had tea with a splash of milk. As we are looking up now, the way these clouds are expanding is looking just like that splash of milk in that teacup - they are taking their sweet time, though, and the light is changing fast.

October 8th - We report: the moon will be full tomorrow. We cannot really tell how much rounder the moon can get from here - about two percent more, our expert says, but this sounds very abstract to us. It is all about the moonlight to us, and how it washes over the world.

October 9th - We report a long night: our expert stopped by our house without any warning, and we stayed up all night listening to their weather-related stories. We brewed a lot of coffee while their vocabulary gradually became more and more obscure. Now, we are just about ready for sleep.

October 11th - We report scattered light across the cirrus that surround the sun, barely visible to the naked eye - but it is a shimmering veil of the whole spectrum of colours, one that we always look for whenever the weather conditions are similar to this day's.

October 14th - We report: there was never a chance that we would go out today. We looked at the rain falling through the window all day long. The sky started clearing up in the afternoon, and the wind picked up. The raindrops were drying slowly on the windowpane, and we were still inside.

October 19th - We report: as October keeps marching on, we have not yet found the cold temperatures we remember of autumn. We find ourselves having a hard time reconciling the shorter days with this odd note of summer lingering in the air. The sky is impossibly blue up there.

Ai Chapter 12 Drop

This chapter's for the lesbians...

The tallest of the samurai steps forward and draws his sword—the others follow suit. “Unhand the princess, onryo!” he calls to them.

“No,” is Mizu’s only response. She says it with a lilt in her voice, almost a laugh, as if facing the nine of them isn’t even a challenge.

She still hasn’t even unsheathed her sword.

Akemi spots Mizu’s gun, and draws closer, puts a hand on Mizu’s waist, just above where it’s holstered. “Mizu,” she murmurs into her ear, and Mizu’s eyes slide over to meet hers. “Let me have the gun.” Mizu frowns, and Akemi answers the unspoken question. “I know how to use it. You remember Fowler.”

“I don’t know why he thinks this is so stupid,” Harry grumbled on their way to the walking path. “It’s not stupid, it’s lovely, and I’m going anyway.” He pulled Orkie off of his shoulder and cradled him against his chest instead. Orkie purred, so Harry would know he was listening.

When they rounded a bend, they spotted the tall man, again on the bench with the scruffy dog.

“Draco! Hubert!”

The man turned toward them and smiled.

“See?” Harry whispered into Orkie’s head. “Lovely.”

It must be a monkey’s birthday

Today, I took these photos of our Mountain bluet during a sun shower this afternoon. A sun shower occurs when it rains but the sun breaks through and illuminates the raindrops. When I was a kid I lived in Liverpool, England and when we had a sun shower my dad would say, “It must be a monkey’s birthday!” as is usual in the UK. However, around the world there are hundreds of various regional names with many variations of a fox’s, a jackel’s, or the Devil’s wedding. Perhaps, the Americans have the grimmist of them all, “The Devil is beating his wife!”

It’s My Little Monday! With...G3 Pony Sun Shower! Her name is quite appropriate with her symbol, a fancy sun with a small curling cloud and rain drops. A real sunshower is an interesting weather phenomenon to see, and it makes for a cute name. (Surprising that a G1 never had this theme) She could have been a bit more ‘rainy themed’ or ‘sunny themed’ to follow her name, but she is none-the-less pretty and quite ‘g3′ in her her style. She uses the newly introduced on G3 ‘matte pink’ hair as well as the new matte white as well. Interestingly, the white is just a random, thin strip in the middle of the mane. This sort of thing wasn’t done too often, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for doing it. Her body is especially shimmery, and she was released only once as a 2-pack with Luau at either Walmart or Toys R Us.  Her story is that she always loves to play outside- If it’s sunny she tries cartwheels, if its raining she sails boats and rubber duckies in puddles that she finds. So, her lesson seems to be not letting the weather hold her back from fun outdoors, which is ok.  Her name & symbol are quite charming, but the color combination she has kind of makes her ‘fall in with the rest’ of this era of 2004 G3 pony design. Still, certainly one to pick up while these are inexpensive.

Rain.

Most people don’t like rain,

They say the wet weather is nothing but a pain.

Most people tend to miss the beauty

When experiencing the down pour of rain.

You see, most people see it as a nuisance,

Being locked up at home,

Hearing the rain fall as steady as a metronome.

But most people tend to miss all the good things it brings,

The peace, the beauty, the sound of soft droppings.

They can’t see the way the world slows down,

Even if it’s just for a moment.

They can’t see how the once busy streets and cities

Become peaceful and silent.

Rain comes in many shapes and forms

Each type holding a different meaning to us all.

Like a sun shower, bright and warm.

Falling suddenly. Then nothing at all.

Sun showers remind me of a tight hug,

Of watching your favourite movie, hearing your favourite song

Of being with people you love,

A place where you feel you belong.

You see, most people don’t hate rain,

They just can’t always see the beauty that’s hidden under pain.

They hate that there is something that can make them feel so small

As they look to the sky and watch the rain pour.

So maybe that’s why I love it.

Because I know that after will come a brighter day.

Or maybe, just maybe

I love it; because I can only see my life in shades of grey.

These next few days are going to be busy so I had a pretty low key weekend to get my mind right and prepare. Just the usual: dinner date at a new restaurant on Friday; yoga, cooking, and calligraphy practice on Saturday; and never-ending football on Sunday 🫠

A couple coworkers are out this week, so I’m going to have a bit more on my plate until they get back, but then it’s my turn to take a break 😎
