My activity
Clearly I haven't been very active throughout the past half year. Mainly because of demotivation. I couldn't get myself to write posts after also writing essays. It was just too much.
Something that I do enjoy however, is video editing. I was thinking of starting up a study related YouTube channel (is there a name for that? Like studyblr?) I used to have a YouTube dedicated to a band I like, so I have some experience already. Would anyone be interested in that? Please let me know.
I'm thinking to make videos along the lines of study with me videos, a day or week as a musical therapy student, stuff like that. Maybe also advice videos since I did learn quite a lot throughout my two years as a studyblr and studygrammer

Though currently inactive because of summer break (as well as the fact I just switched my major to musical therapy instead of primary school teaching), I am indeed a musical therapy student! School will start in 2 months so if @sunhashine sees this and is interested, you can always message me or whatever 💛
Hello! Do you know any music or business major studyblr? Thank you!
Hey friend! So sorry for taking forever-- I had to think long and hard about this and check out a lot studyblrs and mutuals I follow, since we’ve all probably changed our majors 22842838835 times LOL
To my knowledge, these are some folks who are still currently music or business majors:
@student-succulent -- becca is a TOTAL sweetheart and the world needs to know!! i believe you’re still an international business major!
@gloomstudy -- am utterly in love with her blog as I’m sure many other people are :D she is a music major!
@patriotstudies -- lovely mutual, honestly love seeing original content- business major!
Here are some other folks I follow, who I believe are still their respective majors. Check them out!
@cozytastic -- business
@stitch-es -- music
@heymads -- business
@my-studyblr -- business
@thils-studyblr -- musical therapy (so fascinating!)
If anyone who sees this post is a business/music major themselves or know of any others, please feel free to tag them! Same goes for anyone who’s seen a compilation list floating around!

Thanks for using my gif in your post, I probably wouldn't have found this amazing post otherwise!
Definitely some great tips for anyone struggling to get by with college and work.
How to Balance Work and College
Hey there! Lately I’ve been thinking, and I realized that a lot of us college students are going through the same struggles: we want to stay in school full-time or part-time, but we also need to earn some money in order to do so. Staying committed to studying while working a certain number of hours per week can very quickly become exhausting, which is why I decided to share some of the tips that help me to keep a balance between the two.
Tumblr media
1. Make the job worth it. If you must have a job during such a turbulent time in your life, make sure it’s the right one. If you already have a job and it’s miserable, don’t be afraid to shop around for a better one. (You deserve to feel comfortable at your workplace.) If you’re still looking for a job, make sure to do your research and be strategic. Look on websites like Glassdoor to see what other employees had to say about working there before you accept the job. Look for a student-friendly workplace. Make sure the pay is fair. If you can, try to work somewhere conveniently located. (I was lucky enough to get a job across the street from my college, so I can easily go from work to class or vice versa.) You can even look for jobs at companies that support your interests. Coffee addict? Work at a coffee shop. Into fashion? Work at a clothing store which offers an employee discount. Not all of these criteria are achievable for everyone, but it can’t hurt to try.
2. Work only as much as you have to. Look, I get it. Having extra cash is always useful. But it’s not worth burning yourself out. If you can get by on 14 hours a week, don’t push yourself to work 20. Make sure you’re budgeting your time each week so you have enough time to study, socialize, and stay healthy (as much as possible, anyway). Your own well-being should always be your top priority.
3. Work with your boss. If you’ve been blessed with a boss who is flexible about your schedule, then speak up when you need a change. If you have exams coming up and you need to cut back a few hours, let them know. If you really need Thursdays off because you always have tests on Fridays, let them know. If you’re having a lull in classwork and are able to pick up some more hours, let them know. Often, if you have an understanding boss, then they’ll be willing to collaborate with you to create a schedule that works for everyone. Don’t be afraid to try.
4. Respect your energy levels. If possible, try to keep your days separated–as in, work on different days than you have class. If that isn’t possible, try to at least work on days when you have less classes. Remember: just because you have the time to work on a particular day, doesn’t mean that you’ll have the mental or physical energy. In addition, try to work “normal people” hours. I know that the opening or closing shift can be tempting (get out of work by noon, or don’t have to go in to work till the evening!), but it can completely screw up your sleep cycle and throw you off your game–especially if it’s not completely consistent. Of course, this tip doesn’t apply to everyone; I know a couple of functioning students who regularly go to work at 5 a.m. or stay until 11 p.m. But unless you’ve always been an extreme early bird or night owl, more than likely you’ll just develop an even stronger caffeine addiction, never be able to go a day without a nap, and never have any energy to socialize (speaking from both personal and secondhand experience here).
5. Take advantage of your extra time. Your commute to work, if you have one, can be a great time to catch up on podcasts or listen to school assignments as audiobooks. If you aren’t the one driving, you could even get homework done during this time. Also, your lunch break at work is a good time to fit in quick review sessions or to read something of a lighter material (like a short assignment for a literature class). However, you should never feel pressured to be productive 24/7. If you need to use this extra time to relax and decompress instead, that’s totally fine. More often than not, I use my commute to listen to music and process the day’s events in my head; and I use my lunch break to relax in my car and maybe even watch a quick episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
As always, feel free to reblog this post and add your own advice. Of course, not everyone can do all of these things. This is just my personal experience, and I hope it’s helpful to some of you!

Hiatus
I'm not saying I'm gonna be gone forever. However I do want to state the obvious: I've been inactive for nearly a year now and don't see myself getting more active anytime soon.
I'm switching my education. I was studying pabo, but I'm going to a different college to study musical therapy. This means most of my studying will be behind a piano, guitar, drums, ect. instead of at my desk. As a result I won't have cute study pictures to post.
So I guess I'm properly saying I'm gonna be on hiatus for a unspecified amount of time. Who knows, maybe I'll still post masterposts and study tips.
Quick question though, if I were to post weekly (or monthly) study updates on musical therapy, would y'all be interested? Let me know
Anyways, for now goodbye, and hopefully see y'all soon
This post is just a much of a mess as I am
P.s. happy pride 🏳️‍🌈

Sorry for not posting in such a long time. I've had some stress issues surrounding school as well as some mental health problems.
Anyway as I'm trying to get my life back on track, I've decided to set some reminders on my phone so I don't forget to post on here. So hopefully that'll result in some more activity from me
Tumblr media
Also sorry for the bad lighting in this picture. I pulled an all nighter when I took this so this was taken at around 2 am. Photoshop can only do so much 🤭

There's something very sad about having to study how to develop reading skills in children while all you really want to do is read a book...

I had a day of from school today (cause it's exam week). So because my friends all had to retake exams I decided to go to school voluntarily for their moral support!
As a result: during their tests I studied for my upcoming exam, which is next week. In total I was at school for 8 hours straight, and studied for 5 of those.
I also got a free chocolate muffin from my best friend as a "here have some study motivation" after he came back from his math test, so that's a great bonus.

Normally I don't reblog these kinds of posts, but I was curious so I decided to check it out! Although the content is limited (at least in ny country), it seems to work even for international students.
So if you're interested make sure to check it out! (But do read reviews before you spend money on anything of course)
save some money because we are all broke students
Are you too completely broke after spending all your money on Urban Outfitters, your Spotify subscription, that new MacBook for the (overpriced) Studyblr Aesthetic ™?
Tumblr media
I recently graduated high school, and now, as a student, I can finally get my account at UNiDAYS. It’s a platform with discounts on basically everything - from the Financial Times to a cute little French Lifestyle Subscription Box I found recently. (Apparently the one for September is focused on weekly planning and stationery!!)
It’s helped me to save money immensely - for example with the 50% student Spotify discount. I’ve also planned to get a new tablet soon - both Apple and Microsoft offer discounts as well.
All you need to do is register here with your university email.
If you’re not in university yet - or already done - please share so other studyblrs can benefit from it!

I have the forest app!! I really want to use it for lecture so I don’t get distracted, but we always use a clicker question app so my trees always wither :( is there any apps that blacklist some apps and not others?? If you know haha
Hi anon!
I’m glad you’re using the forest app, as it’s a great tool in my opinion, and would definetly recommend it to anyone that’s often distracted by their phone during study sessions.
White/blacklisting is actually a feature in Forest, but only if you have an Android phone (as iOS isn’t capable of tracking other app usage).
If you have an Android it’s available in the paid version of the app. For €1.99 ($2.25) you can get the full version of forest on Android, which comes with a whole lot of features, including whitelisting. To do so, simply scroll down the settings menu until you see “App whitelist” near the bottom of the list. When clicked on the setting (not the switch, the name) you can select which apps to whitelist, so you can use your clicker question app without any problem.
As for alternatives, sadly I don’t know any. But I’m sure you can find some by searching on Google, or looking at what app other studyblrs might use and checking them out.
I hope you find something that works for you! I’ll make sure to be on the lookout too, so if I find any alternatives I’ll make a post about it! 💛

My 2018 Forest
Tumblr media
327 healthy trees
23 withered trees
10227 total minutes focused (7 days, 2 hrs and 27 minutes)
Hopefully next year will be even more productive (considering 7 days isn't really that much if you think about it)

How To Make Effective New Year's Resolutions
Tumblr media
Look, I know I haven't posted on here in a while, but one of my new year's resolutions is to post more so I'm starting with this guide, cause if there's one thing I'm good at it's sticking to new year resolutions.
Tip №1: Do something you care about
Don't write "go to the gym" if you know you're not actually interested in losing weight or getting fit. Don't write "read more" if you don't even like reading. Make your resolutions something you actually would like to do, and can see yourself doing.
Throughout this post I’m gonna be using ‘going to the gym’ as my example resolution, but these tips are of course useable for all kinds of resultions.
Tip №2: Make them measurable
"Go to the gym" isn't gonna cut it. Instead, write something like "Go to the gym at least 2-3 hours every week". Setting clear goals will always be more effective, as you know what you have to do. Otherwise, how do you know you’ve reached your goal?
Tip №3: Make a tracker
You can make a tracker for "Go to the gym at least 2-3 hours every week" by making a grid of 2 squares for every week of the year. By colouring them in each time, you can visualize your progress, and therefore use it as motivation. Seeing you've already exercised for 12 hours is gonna feel a lot more accomplishing than knowing you've exercised for 6 weeks, even though it's the same thing.
Tip №4: Use a curve
Don't immediately start with "Go to the gym for 1 hour every day". You'll be tired of doing so because you aren't used to it, and will give up faster. So instead, set a first stage amount, second stage amount, third stage amount, ect.
So with the gym resolution, start with 2 hours every week, then 4 hours every week, then 30 minutes a day, then 1 hour a day, 2 hours a day, ect. See what I'm getting at?
Tip №5: Share your resolutions
If a friend knows your goal, or even better; has the same goal, it's easier to stick to it. This is also why a lot of people tend to go to the gym with a friend. It’s easier to give up on a goal or habit if you don’t have anyone to hold you accountable. If you stop, your friend will have to go to the gym alone, and you wouldn’t want that, right?
Tip №6: Forgive yourself
So you didn’t go to the gym for two hours this week, but instead only went for 1 hour? Forgive yourself. It’s better to forgive yourself for this one failure to completely give up all together.
Tip №7: Reward yourself
Need an external motivator? That’s totally fine. Make some rules for yourself. “If I don’t miss more than 2 hours at the gym this month, I can go get my favourite scented candle at bath and bodyworks”. Pick something you would like as a reward for reaching your goal, and stick to it!
Note: don’t give yourself your reward if you didn’t stick to your rule. To stick to the candle example, if I bought a candle anyway even though I didn’t stick to my rule, is there really a penalty for not skipping more than 2 hours of exercise? Hold yourself accountable and don’t cheat!
And those were my tips! If you’re looking for some example resolutions, I have a post of my resolutions up on my blog, or you can click the link right here to go to that post directly.
And if you want, please let me know what your resolutions are! Maybe we have some in common and we can keep one another accountable too!
