barkskins is wonderful and all the characters are compelling and mysterious and they’re all so deep and the stakes are so high but i don’t know if any character moment can ever beat the time when yvon, standing over thom’s grave as hamish somberly prays over the dead boy, solemnly says “young man, you were an inconvenience in life, and even today you’ve wasted our time.”
