Am I the only one who thinks that Toph should have never been a Police chief? In Tlok I just thought it was weird that Toph cared so much about what other people tough about her family which is literally the opposite of who Toph is. The Toph that I know doesn’t care what people think of her and isn’t trying to please anyone but herself and doesn’t care about rules.
I know that Bryke chose Toph to be the police chief because they wanted the police to be mostly metal benders because it looks cool but they could have easily said that those metalbenders came from the school Toph built.
The person who should have been the police chief should have been a character that Bryke completely forgot. Suki should have been the police chief because she cares about other people and cares about rules and protecting them. Suki would have made an excellent police chief and it wouldn’t have contradicted her character.
Lin could have still been the current police chief but because she wanted to be it herself and not because she wanted to follow Tophs footsteps.
What do you guys think?

you implied that zuko taking lightning for katara shouldn't be looked at as romantic and like you said people that ship them do see it as that so obviously they wouldn't want to see that but thanks for taking it out the tag❤
I just don’t like that a lot of shippers reduce Zuko and Katara actions just for romantic reasons. It devalues their character development and growth if they do stuff like that to get something in return

Guess what. Zuko took the lightning for Katara and not anyone else in the gaang so anything you said after that sentence was irrelevant👍🏾
And your point is? I’m just saying what has been on my mind. You don’t have to read it. Keep it moving

What was your goal in tagging that post as zutara🤔 because if you're trying to get the zutarians to stop saying zuko taking the lightning bolt for katara is a romantic action we respectfully don't care😁 have a great day
I don’t care either I post what I want🤷🏾‍♀️

Didn't you ever get taught if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all?🤨 especially if you're targeting an audience that likes whatever your talking about. It's honestly just respect its not hard Channel try it sometimes
I just wrote something that was on my mind because I couldn’t sleep. You don’t have to read it. It’s pretty easy to skip

Zuko would have taken the lightning shot for everyone in the Gaang especially because he challenged Azula to shoot him in first place. He would have probably felt guilty if Katara got shot because he was the one to provoke it in First place. And he wanted to redirect it and not get shot. People are making the scene way more romantic then it actually was.

I’m really worried because of the upcoming Avatar series because of the wasted potential that was TLOK
I really respect Bryke for coming up with Atla but I think they are better at creating a fictional world instead of actually writing episodes and storylines. In Atla they had a lot of talented writers, that knew how to write an interesting storyline. In the Atla Comics and tlok Bryke had more input into the storyline which is why the comics often fall flat and Legend of Korra disappointed a lot of fans with high expectations. I know that Bryke and a lot of Tlok fans say it was Nickelodeon’s fault but it wasn’t.
I’m going to name a few things that bothered me about Tlok that were mistakes by Bryke and not Nickelodeon:
Korras Tream Avatar
Korras Team always had the same problem. They all don’t have any goals, dream values or aspirations. I think it’s really weird that Mako, Asami and Bolin lived their whole live in a big city and don’t have any friends. Imagine how cool it would have been if Mako and Bolin had street friends or even friends from and orphanage to actually show what the life is like living on the streets compared to her sheltered live. Imagine if we had seen the drastic contrast to Asamis rich life with shallow friends. I always imagine what their storylines could have been.
If Bryke removed Pro bending and gave Korras team Avatar friends and a back story I would have been much more invested in their characters.
Asami had almost no emotions. The only time she actually had emotions was when she felt sorry for Korra and not even for herself which is really weird. In season one she had no reason to join the team Avatar. If I summarize the relationship she had with the team was everybody besides Bolin lied to her and cheated on her. It’s not realistic for her to join them especially because she had a great relationship with her father. It would have been better if she joined her father and turned away from him after he went to far and then join the team after they build up a heathy relationship.
Korras team Avatar didn’t really seem like friends. They behaved like work colleagues that have to put up with each other. Every single character is replaceable and it wouldn’t make a difference to the story. If you replaced mako with jinora the story would still be the same. The same goes if you replace Bolin and Asami with any character from Tlok it wouldn’t change the story. If you compare this to the gaang you would notice that they would have been dead if any character was missing. They needed each other. Every single character had their purpose. In Tlok it wouldn’t make a difference if Korra had a completely other team.
Bryke doing too much
Sometimes less is more. Bending is such a cool unique power system which was nowhere to be found in any other storytelling form besides Shounen Anime’s like Naruto, One Piece and HxH. It’s really understandable and relatable to the real world. There was no need for laser shooting and sky beams like every other Marvel or DC movie we’ve seen it already dozens of times. And there was no need for giant robots like dozens of mecha anime. If I wanted to see that I would watch that instead of something which takes place in the world of Avatar.
Tlok really needed younger writers
I thought it was weird that Bryke thought in season one that the biggest problem in a girls live who’s literally the Avatar would be “how do I get the guy that I just met a few days ago even though he has a girlfriend”. The whole plot line with homewrecking someone ok as long as you think you fit better with the person and the talk with pema seemed more like one of the writers got through a divorce and added that to the story to feel better about replacing his wife with someone who’s 20 years younger. Like who in their right mind would think getting the characters in relationships before they even spend time together and got to know each other was a good idea. It seemed really shallow that’s it. If they really thought that this is what teenagers wanted to see they were definitely wrong.
Unnecessary plot lines that didn’t help the plot
Pro bending was used in the first season after that they never mentioned it again. They wasted 5 episodes on something that could have been replaced with establishing the characters and republic city more. Avatar Wan was unnecessary. I know a lot of people wanted to know how the first Avatar came about but tbh that was a bad idea and only pissed a lid of people of because it was contradicting. A whole episode on learning metal bending. Bryke literally just did it to call her the first metal bending avatar. It didn’t help Korra. She didn’t need it. There was no reason for it. Those aren’t the only examples but to get to the point sometimes it looked like Bryke had no idea what they were doing. They started a storyline mid season they changed their mind and did something completely different which made zero sense. Especially in season one and two.
Too much focus on the original team Avatar
I think they probably did it because of fan service but they completely forgot about the established new team avatar and kept focusing on the old team avatar and their kids. How come tenzin and Lin have more character development then Korras whole team avatar together. This show was targeted at teenagers but kept focusing on 40 year olds and their daddy and mommy issues.
Tbh Before I watched Tlok I liked it a lot more because the fandom gave the characters what they deserved and what Bryke didn’t give them. I went in with such high expectations and I was really disappointed because the fans made it look much better then it actually was.
I really hope Bryke will hire a lot of talented writers to make the next series better. And I also hope that the comics aren’t all cannon. Especially the ones with Zuko and Azula in it. The fans wanted their relationship fixed and not a Scar/Mufassa moment.

So lately I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix shows but this time I started watching Asian Netflix shows and movies and I came to the Realisation that they are much better than what American Media has been putting out lately.
I think it would be a great idea to bring an Asian director instead of an American director into this adaptation. American media is too stuck on their typical tropes that they often get repetitive. Almost every American show especially on Netflix follows the same format but while I was watching these Asian shows I was constantly on the edge never knowing what’s going to happen next. And I think an Asian director can show Asian culture more truthful than some American directors can. Most American movies or shows about Asian culture always end up kind of racist or with wrong stereotypes. And somehow they manage to put a white savior into these movies/ shows. Mike & Bryan did a good job with atla because they took a lot of time and effort into it but most American directors only care for the money and not for the actual work. So I really believe that an Asian director should do it instead of an American

@coconutsaiyan you’re right. He literally isn’t. Yes he may has used Katara and Aang to get what he wants but he cared enough for Katara to change his ways
Unpopular Avatar Opinon
Jet is overhated. He’s literally a depiction of what happened in real life and how extremist come to exist. His whole town was killed and he’s one of the view survivors. He literally witnessed his family and friends being killed by the fire nation. Everybody understood Kataras pain when she talked about her mother being killed but for him it was his whole family. I know that he wasn’t a good person but he was trying to better himself because he was sorry for what he did. He is literally what Aang, Katara and Sokka could’ve been if they gave in to the hate. He’s an incredibly written character. And at the end with all the hate he had towards the fire nation it wasn’t even the fire nation that killed him.

What she says: I’m fine What she means: WHY was it canon that Aang and Katara were horrible parents? Aang grew up with loving father figures who he then lost and Katara lost her mother at a young age but was shown to be a very nurturing and mothering person in general. It makes no sense for their kids to talk about how they were neglectful because you know damn well that individually Aang and Katara were loving people who would never want a child to feel unloved, let alone their own.

Why Aang is such a good character
Since Avatar came back to popularity I’ve seen a lot of hate towards Aang and it makes me really sad because he’s one of my favorite characters. I’ve been trying to ignore it but months later it’s still bothering me. I’ve seen most of the hate came from people who ship Zutara which is really annoying especially on Tiktok.
The reasons that were mostly named why people hate him were:
Aang is childish
He is a simp towards Katara
He’s Toxic
He’s possessive
He kissed Katara at the Ember Island play without her consent
He didn’t kill the Firelord
He yelled at Toph after Appa got stolen
Aang is forcing his believes on to other people
Aang saw Katara as a trophy wife
At first I’m going to address the Aang being childish part. It seems to me that some people don’t know the difference between being childish and having fun. Yes Aang does a lot of childish stuff like penguin sliding or riding a koi fish but he does that because he’s enjoying life and he showed Katara how to have fun again. Katara, Zuko, Sokka and Toph are children who have spend their whole life in war without having fun and Aang is supposed to show that they are still young and still allowed to have fun in their life. Some people say Katara is the most mature person in the Gaang but they are wrong. Toph said it the best Katara acts mature but she isn’t. She’s a child like everyone else and makes stupid decisions. Aang is the most mature person in the gaang. He makes wise decisions and is very emotionally mature but that doesn’t stop him from having fun in life and bringing fun to others. Like he showed the Firenation kids how to dance.
Tumblr media
Secondly I want to focus on Aang and his feelings towards Katara. I’ve seen a lot of people say that Aang doesn’t love Katara, he’s only in love with the idea of her, he’s a simp, he’s toxic towards her and that he kissed her without her consent. Some people need to understand only because you ship Zutara that doesn’t make Aang a bad person. Aang didn’t like the idea of her he liked her for who she was. Y’all have to understand that he was frozen in ice for hundred years and when he wakes up he lost everyone he loved besides his flying bison. It’s not that far fetched that he would fall for the person who gave him emotional support while he was having a mental breakdown. When Katara did something wrong he called her out unlike what a simp would do but still tried to reconcile with her because he’s the bigger person and not a simp. He’s not toxic towards Katara he respects her. When someone is being misogynistic towards Katara he refuses to learn from them in support of her because he respects her and not because of his feelings. Most of his actions toward Katara are out of respect and not because he wants something in return. He’s actually nice to Katara because he means it. And then there are some people who say he’s possessive. I can only say no he’s not. He didn’t say anything when Katara was with Jet or Haru. He minded his own business. The only time he actually got jealous was at the ember island play because they kissed at the invasion and he got his hopes up and the play basically pushed all his insecurities infront of his face which made him act out overly emotional. And then there was this moment where he kissed her at the Ember Island play and to be honest to me it seemed like he was just a confused as Katara. He was kind of hurt because of the play and didn’t think straight but he regretted it after. All I can say is Aangs feelings are genuine and build on respect and trust.
Tumblr media
And now I want to focus on the part where he yelled at Toph when Appa got stolen. I feel dumb that I even got to say it. You can’t compare Appa getting stolen to someone losing a Dog. Appa is the Last thing he had from his past. He loves him more then everything in the world. For the people who saw the movie John Wick will understand that somebody who has lost everything and is still managing to stay positive and the last piece of hope he has gets taken away from him can get you seriously mad. I know that his anger towards Toph was wrong but he was obviously very emotional and not in his right mind and was filled with pure rage. He literally had a mental breakdown at the end of this episode because he was that hurt.
Tumblr media
And now the last part is that he’s forcing his believes on other people and that he refused to kill the firelord. Murder is not something to joke about or be proud of. Aang wasn’t forcing his believes on Katara when he was trying to stop her from killing the murderer of her mother was was trying to stop her because she would have literally killed a person and after that there is no turning back. It changes you as a person and you have to live with the fact that somebody died by your hands. It can turn you crazy. On paper it sound pretty badass and cool but it’s not like this in real live. Aang didn’t want to kill the firelord and a lot of people hate him for that but then on the other hand people have to consider if Aang wasn’t the way he was Zuko would be dead. He could have left him for dead a the northern watertribe everybody else wanted to leave him there but he didn’t. He could’ve left him with Zhao but he didn’t. Aangs believes brought more good then bad.
